> Mother to the Night. > by Night--Mist > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Luna's Request > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It had only been a few days since Luna had been released from her dark form by the Elements of Harmony. She would be forever greatful for that. But something just didn't feel right for her. She had been gone for 1000 years, and only a few nights ago, ponies were terrified of her, and had good reason to. Some ponies were very welcoming when she was brought to her senses, none more so then her own sister. But there was still a good portion of the populace she felt still feared her. It didn't help that the terror she caused as Nightmare Moon still haunted her memories. She wondered how ponies could ever trust her again. How could nobles accept her as one of their rulers, when, during the long night, she had sent many of them some of the most terrible nightmares they could have imagined? She wasn't sure how Blueblood had escaped her gaze, but he was among the lucky ones not to know what she had done. As she made her way to breakfast, Celestia greeted her. "Good Morning little sister. I trust your night was peaceful?" Celestia inquired. Luna sighed, "Not exactly, big sister. I'll admit both my night, and this morning have been somewhat troubling." "Well, what seems to be the matter, I am sure I can help," Celestia suggested. "I don't feel it's something you should trouble yourself with. You've been watching over the ponies of Equestria for 1000 years all by yourself. I feel my troubles would just add too much weight to what you have already had to deal with," Luna stated. "I will admit that having to rule on my own has had it's tiring days, but I'd be willing to take on 1000 more if it had to be so. But I do not wish you to have stayed on the moon any longer then you already have. All that time in isolation, I can scarcely imagine what you had to go through up there," Celestia admitted. "That's just it. Even though Nightmare Moon had control over my actions all that time, deep in my mind I knew what I had done was wrong. And now that I'm back, I just..... I just don't know how ponies can just openly accept me like some have. I almost caused eternal night across the land. And many still are weary around me. I just...... I wish I could start over. And I know what you're going to say. That I am getting that opportunity now, but in all honesty, I'm not sister. I still remember everything," Luna said. "I see. You're saying that you wish to forget things you'd rather not remember," Celestia guessed. "Yes, that's is exactly how I feel," Luna said. "Well, I can tell anypony that moments in your life may not be moments you like to remember, but they help you learn from the experience. But I understand that with what has happened in your life, that telling you that may not be much help," Celestia sighed. "Not really. To be truthfully honest. I wish I could have my foal days back. Where I hadn't been so worried and jealous of respect and adoration," Luna admitted as she started to eat her pancakes Celestia had baked. "Hmhmhm. I remember those days. Excuse me for saying, but you were a Nightmare for the maids when mother and father weren't around," Celestia reminisced a she joined in starting her breakfast. Luna chuckled, "I know. Remember that one time I switched father's shampoo with white mane die," Luna recalled as she took another bite . "How could I forget? It took him ages to clean it out. Some thought he was Starswirls alicorn brother," Celestia added. "Oh, mother would not let me leave my room for a week unless accompanied by her, but it was worth it. And even they admitted it was funny. Which reminds me. How have they been? I haven't seen them since I've gotten back," Luna inquired, stopping her fork just above the pancake. "Well, they've been very busy. But we came to expect that even before your banishment. Father has had a hard time with Tartarus, he almost let Cerberus leave his post one time. Mother's been busy with keeping most of Equestia's plant life harmonious, but she's had trouble with the Everfree Forest ever since Discord's defeat. Not entirely sure why," Celestia answered. "Well, that's another thing I feel bad about, I deprived them time to spend with me since I was sent away. All the more why I wish I had my foal days back and memories repressed," Luna informed Celestia as she took another slow bite of her pancake. "Well, I'm not sure there is much I can do to help. There are spells that can erase one's memory, but it erases everything they know. And I know of no spells that can repress certain memories. Trust me, me and our cousin Velvet Sparkle, have tried and failed to find or create such spells," Celestia stated. "Well, I do know of one spell that, well, does repress memories, but, I've never actually used it. And now that I think about it, I'm not sure why I didn't state it sooner," Luna said. "Oh, and what is this said spell you came up with sister?" Celestia inquired. Luna looked around and saw no pony was in the room. She then cast a spell to make the room sound proof to unwelcoming ears. "Well, it was honestly to be used as a prank on you...... just for a day mind you..... however, I could never come up with a spell that would reverse the effects. And this was over 8,000 years ago mind you when we were still in our filly days," Luna admitted. "......... What were you planning on pranking me with?" Celestia asked in extreme curiousity. "Well, it was an age spell. But this one didn't just regress you in age, your mentality would match, I can't count how many times I've seen ponies use other age spells on their fellow ponies, and then we here a full grown mare's intellect come out of a little foal," Luna tried to cover her tracks. "Tell me about it. Dozens of times I had to let ponies know that it was a harmless prank or misfire by the pony who cast the spell, so they wouldn't think the pony in question was some sort of deity or freak of nature... Wait, you said regresses mentality as well..... are you saying that you were gonna have me literally crawl around as a helpless foal?" Celestia caught on. "Well, that was pretty much the goal. Just to give you the little sister role for a day. However I was never able to make the reverse effect, so I told myself I would not pull the prank unless I had mastered a reverse spell. So it never took flight. But I still have the instructions on how to perform the said spell," Luna said as she lit her horn, and a parchment appeared next to her. Celestia took the parchment and read over it. There was a moment of silence before she looked back to her sister. "So, you're saying that, you wish for me to perform this spell on you, and make you a little foal again?" "Well, I actually hope that wouldn't be too much to ask. I mean, we don't have to perform it. I honestly could have accepted this as penance for my actions. But like I said, you don't ha-" Luna was cut off as Celestia raised a hoof. "Sister. I understand what you are going through, and you want to make new memories and start over. If you really feel this is best for you, I won't argue. Though I feel you may have to call me mother. I did read that the foal age is going to be random. You could be anywhere from a rambunctious little toddler, which would be an adorable sight to behold, or you could be, well........ a little one growing in my tummy," Celestia blushed. "That is why I am saying you don't have to do this big sister. I'm willing to face the risk, but if you do not want to go through with this, I understand," Luna said. Celestia trotted over to her younger sister and placed a hoof on her shoulder. "Luna, this is your choice, and rather then turn you away, I will let you do this, even if I have to start seeing you as my daughter. And thankfully the spell makes everypony think you are that age, and I will be the only one who recalls everything, until you, yourself are old enough to unlock memories you wish to unlock. If you feel this is right, I feel your right in the matter, then I shall do this," Celestia assured Luna. Luna hugged her sister lovingly. "Oh thank you big sister...... or should I say mother?" Luna chuckled. "You're welcome..... daughter," Celestia winked. Soon a light engulfed the room as Celestia performed her spell. After the light dissipated, Celestia awoke in her bed, a bit groggy. She then felt a slight movement in her tummy, and looked down, under her covers and saw her rounded pregnant belly. She smiled and said, "Have a good rest, my little Luna." Celestia felt a kick in response. She knew that her new pregnancy, and motherhood would be a challenge she was willing to take charge of. Hopefully her mother Gaia, and Father Terra would stop by for a visit soon.
