> Night and Day > by Gabushe Shy > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > The Elements of Harmony > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Night and Day - Prologue by Gabushe Shy "There can only be one princess in Equestria," I said using Royal Canterlot Voice and walked up to the space between my and my sister's throne "and that princess... Shall be Me!" I finished, my blue eyes flashing with pure arcane power, my hooves in tiny little hoofguards slamming the floor, causing it to break, my dark shadow breaking the stained glass window above me and my magic making the bloody red moon to rise, causing the whole world to darken. The sun, trying to break free from the solar eclipse send off some beams, but that only helped. Soon, I was enveloped in a swirl of old and dark magic, magic that neither me, nor my sister ever thought of using it. But here I was, greeting it like an old friend, letting it do its horrific, yet magical job. To say that the transformation was painless would be very, very underestimating. Even if it was only for a second, I regretted my decision to transform into a better, prettier and more powerful me. But in a flash of light, the thoughts were gone. And it was only me, not Luna, not the little, pushover sister that everypony took for granted. No, I was Nightmare Moon, the only ruler of Equestria, the bringer of Eternal Night and the destroyer of Celestia. 'The Tantabi really did a good job' I thought to myself, inspecting my left front hoof. My hoofguards were now much darker blue, not like wintery, cloudy day, but like late summer evening. My coat, on the other hoof was almost pitch black, something like midnight blue. And my mane, my mane was greater than anypony else had. The mane wasn't sky blue bob cut, like I had when I was younger, nor the short wavy mane I had mere seconds ago. No I had smoke like dark blue mane. And don't get me started on my battle armor, it was simply divine. Even with this greater look, there was something I was missing. Of course, my beloved daughter, my faithful student, my powerful heir, my little angel - Twilight Sparkle, she was missing. But what I was thinking, my beloved daughter was still sound asleep. But when she would wake up and find out what has happened during her slumber, she would join the right side. After all, she was the wisest of us all. And by the time she would wake up, I would have already dealt with my sister Celestia and her spoiled brat Mi Amore Cadenza. While I was at it, I would probably just reduce Cadenza to a lower race, so Twilight won't kill me on first sight. To test my power, I fired off a beam to ceiling. The beam sliced the ceiling in half, and I was very pleased with my power. When the dust from the fallen ceiling fell, I walked right through it, looking even more regal than I already was, with my dark coat and my divine battle armor. What I hadn't been expecting was my sister hovering under the unbroken part of ceiling. I fired of another beam, but instead of hitting her, the beam hit another part of the ceiling, causing it to fall down and reveal my lovely, never-ending night and my glorious moon. It was getting very tiresome and frustrating that I was breaking my own throne room in my glorious castle of night. So instead, I stopped firing off beams that were destroying things that didn't deserve it and just stood there, waiting for another of my sister’s villain angering monologues. The one she had made for Sombra was good and Discords was very harmonious. "Luna, I won't fight you," here comes her monologue "you must lower the moon, it is you duty." she finished, just standing there, doing absolutely nothing. It seems that is my turn, the most powerful, most magnificent and most regal alicorns turn. Very well, the first matter is her calling me Luna. Is she really that dumb to actually call me that, or does is she simply trying - and failing - to provoke me. "Luna?" I asked, looking at her, trying to figure out if she is just playing with me, or is she really scared "I am Nightmare Moon." Yep, she is most likely scared. "I have but one royal duty," she... is... Scared "and that is" wait for it "to destroy You!" I finished, firing off another deadly beam of magic. Celestia again avoided the beam and fled through the hole in the ceiling that I made earlier in my attempts to destroy her. "And where do you think you are going?" I called after her. Thankfully she wasn't dumb enough to actually stop and answer me, that would be her doom and I wanted to play a quick game of cat and mouse. I flew right up to her, caught and crippled her wings enough that she won't fly with them any time soon, but they will get her to ground safely. I had some other plans with her, that need her alive. The main one being draining her to her breaking point and let her get the Elements of Harmony. I shot another beam in her way, but my sister was - I must admit it - full of surprises. Not even did she avoided the beam, but even took off to my glorious night sky again. And it seemed that she was trying to raise her petty little sun for her petty little sun loving ponies. My night thestrals on the other hoof were great at anything involving the night. While I was thinking about all this, Celestia most likely gave up on her unsuccessful attempt of raising the sun, and instead fired another beam at me. I also fired another beam to meet hers and we played quick game of tug of war. I must give my sister some credit, she was always good at these types of games, but I surpassed her ages ago. When my beam hit Celestia's horn, she gave an ear piercing shriek and fell down through the same hole she fled in the first place. 'How ironic,' I thought, 'her downfall came through the same hole as her uprising.' Seconds later I heard sound of clapping hooves on a marble floor. Instantly a picture of a pink alicorn with tricolor mane came into my mind. Of course she would find out when something happened to her mother, me and Twilight had a similar bond. The moment she entered the room and seeing her precious mother laying down, not showing any signs of life and me, the glorious princess of everlasting night, standing above her, she opened up her wings and charged her horn. "What did you do to my mother, you monster?!" she cried out, getting ready for a spell. I also charged my horn, running mental checklist of what I already did and what I needed to do. The top thing right now was to encase Cadence in stone or crystal, so I can deal with her later. The moment I fired of my spell, she fired of hers too. I didn't recognize her spell, but mine was stronger. The first time I saw somepony being turned to stone was great, but this time it was even better. Celestia, finally realizing that I can't be defeated with pure power, finally took out the Elements of Harmony. I got ready for an impact. Powered up my horn. And shot. My magic and the magic of Elements of Harmony made an impact, followed by a shockwave that shook with the whole castle. I must say, I was quite tired already, so the fight was longer than I anticipated, so when I finally overpowered the Elements of Harmony and destroyed Celestia I needed to flee, so day guards won't find me. I quickly flew out, to my glorious night with a grin plastered on my face. Even if it was only a half-win, a great thought lingered in my mind. THE ELEMENTS OF HARMONY FAILED. > Letters > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Night and Day - Chapter 1 by Gabushe Shy The Elements of Harmony have failed. The thought still lingered in my mind along with the rest of the memories from that faithful morning. The morning that I lost my ever so present sister, the morning that I nearly lost my beloved daughter and heir to the sun, the morning that I fought for the first time with my favorite niece - the morning that my sister turned into Nightmare Moon. I still remember the moment that the whole world darkened and my golden sun was knocked out from the sky blue sky. I still remember the moment that Equestria lost its princess of the night to madness. I still remember the moment that Equestria had been plunged into eternal darkness. And I will never forget my sins that got the world to this state. I gently touched my golden sun. It practically begged to be again released into the heavens, but trust me, I have tried many, many times, but I gave up months ago. Now, I was doing a different thing - I was aging the sun, so when it will rise again, it will not be gold - it will be bloody red. I thought of where my niece and my daughter could be, but from their departure shortly after the start of The Moon Rebellion I didn't hear from them. I just hope that they were safe. I heard hoofsteps on the cold, marble floor. I turned around and saw the current captain of the day guard - Shining Armor, Cadences loved one and stallionfriend before her departure with Twilight. I just hoped that he wont get caught in the mess of things that was bound to happen in few days or maybe weeks. "Princess," he started, it seemed that he brought some news, I just silently hoped that they were good, "The Moon Rebels are only few hours from The Everfree Castle and from the information that I got from spies and infiltrator changelings it seems that they will attack in the following week or so." No no no, this can't be happening. Just a mere days ago, the rebels were at The Spirit Mountain and between here and there was The Platinum County and Yadgrassil Forest. Even with avoiding the county and burning down the forest would be too slow. There was only one way they could be that quick - count Golden Platinum betrayed me and lied to Yadgrassil Deers. I heard another hooves banging on the floor these ones much less trained than Shining Armors. I turned around to see a panting snow white unicorn with golden mane - Lord Blueblood, a stallion from Golden Platinums court. "P... princess," he started, gasping for air "Count... Golden... Platinum" he took in another breath "joined the... rebellion... and burned down... The Yadgrassil Forest." he finished, fainting on the spot. I called for the royal doctor, a fine stallion I must say and ordered a full attention for him - he deserved it. A cream scroll with a slight tint of green and a seal bearing the image of three leaves appeared with a puff of smoke out of nowhere in front of me. I gently took the letter in my magic, slightly guessing the terror that it contained. I opened it, reading it: From: The Yadgrassil Deer Court To: Princess Celestia of Equestria Dear Celestia I must inform you, that our home forest was invaded by The Moon Rebels that were most likely in alliance with count Golden Platinum. Due to the fact that you didn't warn us about counts Golden Platinums betrayal our alliance falls and I will not interfere in this civil war. We do not want any excuses what so ever, why you did not know why Golden Platinum betrayed you of us, the fact is that your ponies betrayed us and both the Yadgrassil Deer kind and the whole Yadgrassil race is on a good way to extinction. We do not want any reassuring that the Pony Yadgrassil Wars wont repeat again. The Wars started the same - a small conflict and it ended up with near extinction of the proud alicorn race, leaving only you, your sister and your daughters alive and wiping out the whole Yadgrassil Moose kind. We will not allow this to happen again and that is why we wont interfere in this conflict, civil war or rebellion. No we will stand by the sidelines looking for a new place to live. Thank you for your understanding. The Yadgrassil Deer Court I sighed, it couldn't get any worse, could it? I summoned two scrolls, both were the light cream color that I used for every scroll. I started to write the first letter: From: Princess Celestia of Equestria To: The Yadgrassil Deer Court Dear Yadgrassil Deers I want to offer my dearest apologies to the lost of your home. I know there isn not anything I could do, but if there is any way that I can help with your current situation - I offer the help of Equestria. I do not want you to feel forced in any way, but if I may, I would offer the Everfree Castles surroundings. The place in barely habitable for ponies and I know that you Yadgrassil Deers are very capable of making this place something magical. I do not want any wars with other creatures nor any types of civil wars. That is why I wont to make peace with you. I want to make peace with you - The Yadgrassil Deers - because I am the embodiment of the Element of Harmony known as kindness. I do not ask you, to engage in the civil war. That is a thing that Equestria must solve by herself. Thank you, for hearing me out. Princess Celestia of Equestria. I rolled up the scroll, tied it with a golden ribbon and places a royal seal on it. The last thing I needed to do was to send the letter. A lingered for a few seconds before I used a teleporting spell to teleport the letter to The Yadgrassil Deer Court. Not it was time to write the other letter. From: The Powerful Princess Celestia of Equestria To: The Wise and Powerful Dragon Lord Torch Your Majesty Dragon Lord Torch I must inform you of a very unpleasant thing. As you know, Equestria is in the middle of a civil war. Due to this many loyalties has ben divided. And due to many divided loyalties count Golden Platinum betrayed me and betrayed Equestria as a whole. Due to this, I must inform you - do not trust anypony or anydragon even if he says that he is a delegate of mine. He is most likely trying to get inside dragon lands and cause harm to your fellow dragons. I am deeply sorry that I must inform you by letter. With a good day and a big hoard. Princess Celestia of Equestria I've rolled and sent the second letter. Ans with a heavy sigh I stood up and walked off the balcony, going for my battle armor that I hoped that I would never use again. What I didn't notice was the faint trail of fire on my mane. --- In a dimension far, far away from Equestria, two alicorns sat a a pool of water. "Count Golden Platinum - how could she?" > Daybreaker > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Night and Day - Chapter 2 by Gabushe Shy "Count Golden Platinum - how could she?" these were the only words that the pink and bigger alicorn said before going back to her somber mood that she has since the two alicorns arrived at the Ascension Dimension. "That wasn't Golden Platinum..." the purple slightly smaller alicorn countered using her magic to show a close up view of count Golden Platinum "that was..." --- "...Nightmare Moon." I finished out loud my line of thought. Thinking about what my mind had just conjured up. I walked out of the armory in my golden looking battle armor. The armor had from the tip of my horn to the back of my hooves leaving only my face, feathered part of my wings and a few other tidbits barren. Even my horn had a guard, just like Luna had few years ago. The armor was made from the Pegasus Flying Steel that was made - like the name suggested - very light so the pony wearing the armor could easily fly. I personally objected to have this kind of armor, but my ponies didn't listen and instead teamed up with the Nocturnal Ponies or the Noctis of you prefer and made custom battle armor for Luna too. Oh how were those times good. I walked up to the balcony above the castle gates where was the majority of my army already standing with Captain Shining Armor in front of them. The army consisted out of both Diurnal ponies or Diurnals and Nocturnal Ponies of Noctis. Each kind was dressed in their respective battle armor that slightly differed from their normal armor that they wore in the day to day life. For an untrained eye the differences were almost unspotable but if a soldier's eye looked at it he would notice wing guards, horn guards and much more refined steel. Looking past my ponies and the ravine that surrounded the castle I saw a faint trail of dust that signaled that the Moon Rebels would be here soon. I silently cast a invisible shield on me and on few other ponies and prepared for meeting the powerful aura of Nightmare Moon. My and Nightmare Moons auras made an impact. The whole world seemed to shake. I quickly shook of my fear and started scanning the horizon. For a few seconds I saw nothing, but then... There she is! I quickly flew to her. She seemed quite surprised to see me, I was wondering what she was thinking. From the physical side of things she hadn't changed at all, she still wore the pathetic little armor. We hovered at each others eye level for a few seconds before - after so many months - I raised the red sun. The last thing that I heard was a faint what before the same dark magic that once enveloped Luna now enveloped me. --- At the Ascension Dimension two alicorns were fighting. "Twilight, I can't stand this war any more. I am going back to Equestria." the pink alicorn said standing up from the pond. "Cadence, you are not going alone. Neither I can stand this war. I am going with you!" the purple alicorn countered also standing up from the pond. "Twilight, I don't want to get you hurt. But if it is you wish then come." Cadence said with a heavy sigh. And with that the alicorns opened up a portal and emerged on the other side. --- When the dark magic left me I looked different and I understood Nightmare Moon's desire to destroy me. My coat was pure white, counter to Nightmare Moon's pitch black. My mane was fiery orange again counter to Nightmare Moon's foggy dark blue. And my armor. My armor was simply divine. It was made from yellow and orange iron and very spiky. While I was looking on my new additions to me I noticed that my body shape also changed a little bit. I did not have a fluffy wings any more nor I had the bat wings that Nightmare Moon and Nocturnal Ponies had - no! I had big wings with each feather shaped like spike. And my cutie mark wasn't plain old sun any more - it was a fiery emblem with sun a little bit similar like Nightmare Moon had. Me and my sister had quick staring game and when we finally ended the game I looked past Nightmare Moon and saw a portal opening up. Two ponies emerged from it and I instantly recognized both of them - Mi Amore Cadenza and Twilight Sparkle. My daughter and my niece. Nightmare Moon seemed quite surprised by their appearance so I used the advantage and tried to get them to join me. To my surprise they didn't join me nor Nightmare Moon and instead attacked both of us. I quickly dodged and responded with and attack of my own. To cut them some slack they must have trained because they were much better than when they left so they avoided the beam. Nightmare Moon looking that the finally shook of her surprise shot of her spell. Cadence and Twilight avoided the beam again and flew of. Nightmare Moon not looking like leaving them flew away to chase them. That was a grave mistake on her part, a mistake she would pay for. I flew up and started chasing her. But then the two little brats that didn't want to die turned around and I was the ultimate mouse. Since I was very unhappy about this I made a one hundred eighty turn and started chasing them. Nightmare Moon not wanting to be in the middle of things flew away to hide somewhere. Twilight and Cadence realising that they weren't the mouse any more fired of another set of spells. That wasn't something strange after all this was battle. What really got me was our surroundings. We no longer were above plain that surrounded The Everfree Castle. No we were somewhere above forests. But when I looked around I saw the castle not so far away. There wasn't any real explanation possible except the fact that the Yggdrasil Deers came. But that didn't make any sense, they said that they would stand on the sidelines. Whatever I thought. I would care about this later, right now I must destroy Nightmare Moon. I shot of a spell, Nightmare Moon shot of a spell and we were quickly engaged in a tug of war game. What we both failed notice was Twilight and Cadence with The Elements of Harmony. I don't know where they have gotten them but the fact was that Twilight wielded the element of laughter, loyalty and honesty and Cadence the other three. The impact with The Elements of Harmony wasn't pleasant. I wasn't torn apart by them, I was vaporised and set to the sun with spell that even I, the mighty Daybreaker could not break. And to the worst of all only one thing was in my mind. “On the 34th of summer 38AD (After Discord) our beloved princesses of day and night died after falling into madness. The new ruler of the day will be Princess Mi Amore Cadenza and the new ruler of the night will be Twilight Sparkle.” > Guards > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Night and Day - Chapter 3 by Gabushe Shy “On the 34th of summer 38AD (After Discord) our beloved princesses of day and night died after falling into madness. The new ruler of the day will be Princess Mi Amore Cadenza and the new ruler of the night will be Twilight Sparkle.” I sat at my parents house still trying to process the thought through. I know I should be celebrating my promotion to the captain of The Night Guard one of the best jobs a Nocturnal Pony could want. But I still couldn't process the thought that I won't be guarding princess Luna but her daughter princess Twilight Sparkle. “Aw Knighty cheer up! It is your promotion party! You should enjoy it and laugh with the rest of your friends. You surely can't just sit here and do nothing for the rest of the night!” my sister Night Pie pulled me in for a hug her dark pink poofy mane tickling me and making me feel like I want to sneeze “Heh! Sorry about that! I must have put something in my mane… Yep! Here it is - sneeze powder!” I loved my sister to pieces even if she was very random at times. Speaking of my sister, I haven't seen my other, older sister Night Gem and as he said: she wouldn't miss this party for anything. There! I saw her, she was - like my sister and unlike me - a prime example of a Nocturnal Pony with mixed blood. Let me explain. We Night family are counterpart to the Day family but as a tradition goes, every once a five generations a pony from a Day family must be married to a pony from the Night family. And me and my sisters came from one of the marriage. This fact only supported the point that Pie was an earth pony and Gem a unicorn. "Knight, don't look so scared. You were destined to be a captain of the night guard." she Gem said, trying to comfort me "A lot of ponies before you made it and thus you will make it too." I gulped "Yes, but they were captains of a night guard but they guarded princess Luna. What if make a bad first impression. What if I make a bad schedule." I started walking around in circles "What if I say something bad to the princess. What if I... What if I... What if I get kicked out!" I officially freaked out. "You won't get kicked out! Someone awesome as you won't get kicked out!" Day Aurora Dash flew to me. She was my as she said 'Awesome Cousin'. She was undoubtedly my cousin but I wasn't so sure about the awesome part "You will make the royal guard twenty percent cooler!" she said, trying to make me feel better "And now... I challenge you for a race!" "Oh it is on!" I sad with a smirk "So where is the start and where is the end?" "I suggest that we will go from here to The Spirit Mountain and back." she suggested getting ready for a flight "but I get an advantage because I can't see that well in the dark." "Your vision does not affect your flight." I countered "We will take of at the same time and neither of us will have an advantage." "You will have an advantage!" She threw back "I won't!" "You will" "You know, you with your feathered wings have a flight advantage,” I argued, growing tired of our fight. “But that doesn't help my vision!” Aurora countered. Seriously, is she really wanting to go first or does she just want to fight? “Aurora, the point of what I tried to say is that I am having sight advantage and you have maneuver advantage.” I finished, letting her rethink my point for a while. “Okay, but I will still beat you!” she finally agreed to this race. “We will see about that.” I said a faint hint of a smirk being on my face. We walked out of my parents house. Well if we can call it a house. It was more of a mansion that I would most likely one day inherit. I wasn't keen about that, but is Gem says - there will always be a price for your position. We both took of and Aurora started counting until she reached zero and we both shot of at the same time. To cut Aurora some slack she was pretty good flyer. But even with her maneuvering advantage I was still a better flyer and if I actually got a cutie mark from my mother's day side it would be cutie mark somehow representing flying. I was one full pony body in front Aurora when we made a sharp turn around The Spirit Mountain. I heard some rumors about new city being built into the mountain and I actually saw some parts of the mountain being redid so a city could be build there. But it wasn't making  any sense to me, who would want to build a city on a mountain. While I was thinking about all this, Aurora got in front of me and stopped me. “Now spill the beans,” she ordered using her drill sergeant voice. Did I mention that she was a sergeant in the Royal Guard Academy and a captain of the new flying team named Wonderbolts? “I know there is something on your mind so you better tell me or I will get it out of by the hard way.” “How do you know there is something on my mind?” I mused, trying to avoid the theme of what has been on my mind. “I grew up with you…” she said in a deadpan tone “Now. Spill. The. Beans.” she ordered again. “Okay, okay. But promise me, you won't freak out when I tell you." I made her promise so she won't cry it out in the first minute. "Fair so... Cross my heart hope to fly stick a cupcake in my eye. Ow!" she promised and cried out the second she accidentally stuck her hoof in her eye. I started to uncontrollably laugh. I know I shouldn't laugh at someponies expense but she always stuck her hoof in her eye. "So I here is the thing that has been on my mind. You know how I will become a captain of the night guard. Right? So anyway since princess Lina is dead I will be guarding princess Twilight Sparkle. But..." I started heavily blushing "... I may have a bit of a crush on her..." I finished, hiding my face behind my hooves. "What?" Was her first reaction "You are kidding... Right?" was her second reaction "No, you aren't kidding. You have a crush on the princess.” was her third and final reaction. "It seems that it will just need to work out." > Coronation > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Night and Day - Chapiter 4 by Gabushe Shy "It seems that it will just need to work out." said Cadence rolling up her scroll containing her schedule “So… What is on your schedule for today?”   “The first thing after breakfast is meeting with my new captain of the guard. His name is Night Knight. What kind of name is that? By the way - do you know what had happened to Night Strike? I thought he wasn't anywhere near retirement?” I said looking at my scroll and walking down one of the many unbroken hallways of the Everfree Castle.   “Well at least your guard has a name of a noble family. Shining has problems with all the nobles from House Day saying that he should step down and let a real guard to be my captain.” Cadence replied rolling her eyes silently telling me that she has her own thoughts on that matter and joining me in the stroll through the hallways “To answer your second question - Night Strike died in the last battle… And before you ask I prefer and vote for queen.”   “Queen huh? Any particular reason for that notion? Or do you vote for the queen title just because it sounds better?” I challenged her.   “To explain it to your chicken brain-”   “I don't have a chicken brain. I know more spells than you and the whole royal guard combined!”   “It isn’t about knowing something;” Cadence diminished a giggle “it is about using your common sense.” she winked at me “Back to the topic on hoof. I choose the title of queen instead the title of princess because I think that Equestria needs a strong leader - a queen - and not some petty princess,” she explained it to me.   “That makes sense but think about this in from little bit different viewpoint. Three quarters of Equestria population never had queen and the only one that that had didn’t have a queen in centuries.” I opposed “You know what? Let's put this to a side for a moment and think about other important matters we need to discuss. The first one is…”   “...the funeral.” Cadence finished with a heavy sigh “I think we should hold it at dusk to give honor to both princesses. And then we should hold the coronation at dawn so it would be the transition between night and day.” she gave a suggestion.   “Come to think of it, that actually isn't a bad idea. It would reduce the complaints to minimum and that is exactly what we need right now.” I agreed to her idea “There is only one thing left. Queen?”   “Queen.”   ---     I sat in my old study that I owned from the first day in this castle. I knew that I should probably move to my mother’s study as soon as possible but the study was something like a sacred place for me.   I heard knocking. “Come in, the door is unlocked.” I called looking up from my paperwork to the pony that entered.   To my surprise the Nocturnal Pony that walked in was dressed in The Night Guard armor. That reminded me - I wanted to redesign the armor a little bit so it would reflect my colors more that the colors of my mother.   “My queen,” he mumbled bowing down “my name is Night Knight and I am your new captain of your guard. Forgive me for being late I was stationed at the city before this promotion.”   “Raise my fellow pony,” I said with a genuine smile. No, not the smile that I learned under the hard tutelage of aunt Celestia. No, this was a smile that I gave not shoved “I don't judge ponies by their appearance I judge them by their work. And from what I saw, your work was exceptional.”   “Thank you my queen,” he slowly rose back to a standing position “if you need anything just call for Night Knight.” he finished slowly walking out of the study and bowing.   After he walked out I just couldn't get back to my paperwork. He was so cute. And fluffy. And cute. Okay I admit it; he was very, very cute?   ---   As the day of the funeral came closer and closer, more and more ponies were hosted at The Everfree Castle and on the day of the funeral all of the guest rooms were filled in. I never thought that I would see all the rooms filled. Yet here we were, surrounded by ponies and other species from all over the world came to see this event.   As for me and Cadence? We were sitting on one of the many balconies and were making our own celestial bodies. For you to understand you must be familiar with how alicorn royalty worked.   Since we were ageless only a few alicorns ever got to raise the sun or the moon and for a reason - the celestial bodies were rejecting anypony that was not their creator. That was why every alicorn that ever got to one of the two thrones created its own celestial body and destroyed the previous one.   That was what we were doing. We were creating our own sun and moon.   As the dusk came near I finally threw the last meteor to the moon finishing my pattern of a head of a mare. I got up, nodding at Cadence who had also finished. And we went to the funeral.   The funeral was nothing sort of crazy, it was something you could await from a funeral that was mostly designed by the stuck up nobles that knew next to nothing about having a good time.   During the night a lot of ponies greeted me and tried to get me to marry them or some of their relatives. I really didn't care about them nor was I interested in any of them so I politely declined every single offer. When I got a little bit of free time with Cadence and exchanged the news I gathered that she feels about the same as me in this situation.   As the dawn neared the courtyard became more filled than ever before and I knew that my time was coming. I saw Cadence and we winked at each other. Both I and Cadence started slowly walk to the podium from the previous evening. As the dawn neared I started lowering my mother's moon for the last time.   When the moon slipped under the hills Raven - the royal assistant and a friend to both me and Cadence  - walked up to the podium and cleared her throat. All the nobles slowly stopped talking. When they finally stopped talking, Raven put a crown on my and Cadences head and we raised our own celestial bodies. And Raven started talking.   “Fillies and gentlecolts, mares and stallions. We are here today to celebrate for the first time our two new queens. Queen of the sun and day Mi Amore Cadenza and queen of the moon and night Twilight Sparkle”
