Finding the Special Voice

View Online

Five years have passed since the Dazzlings lost to the Rainbooms and have grieved over the loss of their magic. However, a nice gentleman got them back on their feet again. His name was Mark, a man who took the girls into his apartment and gave them a home. They ended up living with him for about a year, until they had enough money to get a place of their own. They now live in a small house in the suburbs that has a nice view of the beach, which brings them memories when they were still sirens back in Equestria. One day, the sirens got bored and walked around town, trying to find something to do expect stay in the house all day. They suddenly come across a building which read 'singing classes', which caught their attention.

Out of curiosity, the trio walked in and asked about joining the classes. The classes were pretty cheap, but it wouldn't hurt to try singing without their magic to help them. They ended up taking the classes for four years, until their voices were as good as they were when they sang with magic. Once they graduated, Adagio came up with an idea to resurrect their band name The Dazzlings and tour around the world to entertain people with their singing. Tonight, is the beginning of their fame, as they drive over to a small bar, which has bands playing on Friday nights.

Meanwhile, outside of town, a greater singer is on his way to finding a certain component for fame and fortune. His name is Mok Swagger, a popular rocker since the 80s, has notice his fame is slowly dying and his albums are slowly not selling as well as they once did. Since 1995, Mok has been doing a lot of research and has come up with a plan to become the most famous of rockstars in the world. With his time and money, he has made technology of achieving his goal to not only make awesome effects for his live performances, but to unleash a demon from another dimension. However, there is a problem. If he is ever going to bring forth this demon, he needs one component:

A very special voice

It's 3:01, as the girls wait in the living room, wearing their usual attire, nervous on the interview for getting a gig. In front of Sonata, stood an electric keyboard. For Aria, she holds onto her purple guitar that she names Violet Killer. For Adagio, she doesn't need an instrument; for her, she needs just her voice.

"I'm so nervous, Adagio," said Sonata, as her legs began to shake. "So nervous my legs can't stop shaking."

"Can't wait to rock the crowd," said Aria, feeling rather excited than nervous.

"Just calm down, Sonata," said Adagio, patting her back. "Just take a deep breath."

Sonata takes in a deep breath, then exhales slowly.

"Did that work?" asked Adagio.

"Hey!" said Sonata with a smile on her face. "It worked! I'm not nervous. I'm scared."

Both Aria and Adagio face palmed with a sigh. Suddenly, the door opens, showing the store owner who is a woman with blonde hair, blue eyes, wearing a KISS T-shirt, black jeans, and is holding onto a piece of paper.

"Are you three The Dazzlings?" she asked.

"W-we are," said Adagio, as she and her sisters stand up.

"Come in," she said, opening the door for them to enter.

Inside is a large office with a desk at the end of the red-painted room. As the trio walk in, they look around to see a file cabinet on the left, a large poster of KISS on the right side of the room, and an open window behind the desk.

"Ready to show me what you ladies got?" asked the blonde woman, as she walks over to her desk. "The name is Jessica Angel, owner of this place after my father."

"Nice to meet you Jessica," said Adagio, as she and her sisters stand in the middle of the room. "I'm Adagio Dazzle. These are my sisters Sonata and Aria."

"Yo," said Aria, giving Jessica a wave.

"Hey there," said Sonata, as she sets up her electric keyboard.

"So," said Jessica, as she taps her desk with a pen. "You girls new here?"

"This will be our first gig," said Adagio. "We want to be famous and to start it off, we'd like to start off with gigs."

"I see," nodded Jessica. "Do you ladies have a song?"

"Sure do."

"Show me what you girls got."

"Get ready girls," said Adagio, as Aria tunes her guitar and Sonata turning on her electronic keyboard.

"Whenever you girls are ready," said Jessica. "Take your time."

As the girls got set up, Aria begins playing on her guitar, along Sonata playing a key on her electronic keyboard. Jessica's eyes widen, as Adagio begins singing. To Jessica, she's rather surprised to hear Adagio's voice; it took her back when her father played music by Debbie Harry and her songs. A tear falls down her cheek, making her wipes it off.

"Okay! Okay!" said Jessica, as she waves her hands, making the trio stop their singing. "You girls are good. You are so in."

"Is everything okay?" asked Sonata. "I noticed you wiping a tear away."

"It's... Adagio, your voice reminds me of Debbie Harry."

"Who's that?" asked Adagio, oblivious to who Jessica is speaking of.

"She's the singer from Blondie, Dagi," said Aria, rolling her eyes.

"Do I know any songs by her?" asked Adagio, as she turns toward Aria.

"She did the song Heart of Glass."

Adagio shrugs.

"Call Me?" continued Aria.

Adagio shrugs yet again.

"You need to listen to her songs, Dagi," scoffed Aria.

"You girls are perfect for tonight," said Jessica, handing them a small sticky note. "Come here around this time, okay? We'll be waiting for you."

Adagio takes the note, as she and the sisters look down at it, which reads:

Come tonight at 8 PM.

Rock on

"Thank you so much," said Adagio, as Sonata pushes the keyboard on its wheels out of the office.

"Thanks for the gig," said Sonata, outside the office.

"We hope not to disappoint you," said Aria, walking out with the Violet Killer over her shoulder.

"See you tonight, girls," said Jessica, as the door shuts.

Jessica let's out a sign, then looks over to framed photo of herself as a kid with her father when they went to see KISS live.

"Oh dad," she said, as she grabs the picture and brings it up to herself. "If only you could hear these girls. You'd be amazed."

It's 7:15 PM, as the starry night skies appear above the town. Outside of town, Mok's mansion stands, looking over the town. In the large garage full of scrap and metal of broken gadgets, along with a black car that floats above the pavement. A large man with spiky grey hair, green eyes, light grey skin, comes out from inside the mansion wearing a red suit, along with the magic man himself, Mok.

"Hey boss," said the red suited man, "Are you sure about going to town?"

"One more show," said Mok, as the red suited man opens the backdoor for him. "Rover, I will find the voice. I have a positive feeling that I will find it."

"As you say so, boss," said Rover, as he closes the door and enters the drivers seat.

The garage opens, as the floating vehicle drives out towards the road and straight towards the town. As they drove, Mok presses a few keys on the arm rest.

"Computer," said Mok. "Anything about my record sales?"

"Record sales have dropped to 85%," said the computer, as a triangular figure appears on a small screen in the back of the center console. "There appears to be a downward trend in-"

"Enough," interrupted Mok. "Show me the report on my project."

"Progress hasn't changed, Mok," said the triangular figure, shaking back and forth.

"The armageddon key?"

A part beneath the screen projects a nearly completed triangle.

"Is the decoding done?" asked Mok.

"Decoding is not completed," replied he computer, as the projected triangle disappears. "Still, you will need to find a living voice. The vibrations from this voice can shall create a doorway for the demon to come forth into our dimension. The ring I created around your finger shall find the exact voice we need for the project to continue."

"Thank you, computer," said Mok, pressing one of the buttons on the arm rest.

"You're welcome, Mok," said the computer before shutting off.

"Let's hope we find it tonight," said Mok to himself. "It will be an unforgettable magic show."

At Jessica's bar, a small crowd of people sit in their seats, enjoying some music from the band that now plays on the stage. As the band plays, Adagio peeks her head through the back curtain, seeing the crowd as they raise their drinks to the musicians.

"Okay girls," said Adagio, as she closes the curtains and walks up to her sisters. "We're on next. Excited?"

"Meh," said Aria, reading a Rolling Stones magazine.

"I can't believe we're almost up," said Sonata, playing an arcade game. "Time moves by quickly, huh?"

"This is how our stardom begins," said Adagio. "I want you girls to look sharp. Gotta make the crowd goes wild."

"I hope we become better than those Rainbooms," said Aria, as she flips a page. "Those bitches still piss me off."

"Just don't think about them, Ari," said Sonata, as she loses her last life. "Think positive. We'll definitely be better than them."

"That's the spirit, Sonata," smiled Adagio.

"What a performance, Bee Drills," said the announcer from the other side of the curtains. "Now everyone, here's out next act-"

"We're up girls," said Adagio, as Aria grabs her guitar and Sonata pushes along with her the electronic guitar.

"The Dazzlings," finished the announcer, as he steps off the stage.

The trio walk out through the curtains, looking down at the crowd, awaiting to hear their music.

"Hey there, everyone," said Adagio, grabbing the mic. "I hope you guys are ready. Hit it, Sonata."

Sonata plays a note, while Aria slowly plays a few strings on her guitar. The song was slow, but as Adagio sang, people began to smile and give out surprised looks, as though they never heard a trio of girls singing this good. Adagio's confidence grew, allowing her to speak louder with more feel and passion. Her voice flew past ears, including the bar owner, Jessica, who sits on one of the tables enjoying Adagio's singing as though she were under some sort of spell. However, she gets distracted when one of the bar tenders walks up to her.

"Say, Jessica," said the bartender, looking down at her from where he stood.

"What is it, Bert?" she asked.

"You'd be surprised, but the magic man is here."

"What?" she said with surprised. "Where?"

Bert points to the darkest part of the bar, where there stood Mok's bodyguard, standing beside him, as he watches Adagio singing. Immediately, she got up from her chair and walks up to Mok, but was stopped by his bodyguard, Rover.

"Not too close, toots," said Rover.

"S-sorry, buddy," said Jessica, as she looks over to Mok. "Mok, what a pleasant surprise. What brings you here?"

Mom did not answer; he was distracted by the female singer on stage, as she sings her song.

"Are you here for that search you said you were looking for from that interview?" continued Jessica. "Okay. Okay. Sorry for asking. It's none of my business, but I think I might just have a band that can make us get good money. What do you think?"

Mok continues to ignore her, still distracted by Adagio's singing. As Adagio gave out another lyric, a flashing light appears from the ring on one of Mok's fingers. Mok looks down at the ring, then towards Adagio, realizing that she's the one. Adagio is the one that Mok has been looking for. The blinking stops, as Mok gives out slow claps, making Jessica rather happy that Mok is impressed with Adagio's singing.

"There you go, Mok," said Jessica. "These girls are gonna become famous one of these days."

As Adagio finishes her song, the crowd whistled and clapped, letting them know they did good for their first gig. Before Adagio could speak, Sonata grabs the mic and inhales deeply.

"Thank you for coming," said Sonata loudly. "We love you! Good night!"

Sonata places the mic back on its stand, as Adagio and Aria roll their eyes. The trio picked up their instruments and disappeared behind the curtains. Jessica nods with approval. As she looks back to Mok, she realizes he wasn't there; it was as though he disappeared out of thin air.

"Freaky," thought Jessica, before looking back to the empty stage. "But those girls are definitely gonna be stars one of these days."

The girls sat in the changing room, taking a break, as Adagio takes a sip of water, Aria placing her guitar into its case, while Sonata eats a small bag of Doritos.

"We did good, girls," said Adagio, getting her sisters' attention.

"Hell yeah," said Aria.

"We rocked the house," said Sonata.

"If we continue doing this," continued Adagio. "We're gonna be famous."

"Girls," said Jessica, as she opens the door. "That show you pulled was fantastic."

"Thank you, Jessica," said Adagio.

"Thanks," said Aria.

"We knocked them dead," said Sonata, tossing away the empty into a small garbage.

"By the way, someone famous came in while you sang, Dagi."

"Someone famous," said the sisters at once. "Who?"

"The magic man."

"Holy shit," said Aria with wide eyes. "Mok?!"

"The legendary rocker?" said Sonata.

"He came to hear me sing?" said Adagio with surprise. "How amazing."

"He even clapped," added Jessica.

"He must really like us, Dagi," said Sonata. "We are totally cool in his eyes."

"When you finished, he just... disappeared," continued Jessica.

"How weird," said Aria.

"By the way," said Jessica, as she pulls out a small jar of cash. "You got some tips from the guests."

"Wow," said Adagio, as she and her sisters look down into the jar. "This is our first gig and we actually got some money."

"Would you girls like to come back and do more singing? I bet that the crowd will be larger than tonight."

"Sure," said Adagio. "This is just the beginning."

"Have a wonderful night, girls," said Jessica, as she walks out of the room.

"Girls," said Adagio. "Tonight, let's order a pizza."

"I'd love some pizza now, Dagi," said Aria. "I'm totally starving."

It's 8:51 PM, as the girls flip through the TV, finding something to watch. They suddenly hear the doorbell ringing, making Sonata rush over to the door.

"Pizza! Pizza! Pizza!" shouted Sonata, as she open the door, only to be disappointed to see a man wearing a red suit. "Are you the pizza guy?"

"Sorry, but no, miss," said the man int he red suit, as he hands over to her, a small card. "But I will give you that. Have a good night."

The man walks away, as Sonata shuts the door, looking down on the card which reads:

Won't you come for a spell?
-Mok

"Holy kelp!" shouted Sonata, as she rushes into the living room. "Dagi! Ari! We got a card from Mok!"

"Holy shit!" said Aria, as she swipes the card from Sonata's hand. "You aren't joking! This really is from Mok!"

Adagio grabs it, reading the address on the other side.

"Girls," said Adagio with a smirk. "We're getting closer to fame than I thought."
