The wind swirl dust and suck through the desolate streets. The Amber Rays of sun light pierced though clouds of dust, streaming light across the street creating a dim golden glow. Massive mounds of ruble and half standing buildings glow dimly with crackling dying fires, are all that remain of the once lively town.
A light blue Pegasus with a singed rainbow main and tail, emerged from the clouds of dust. As she trots through the street her gaze fell appon a building that was still partially recognizable. She stopped in her tracks and sighs at the sight. The crude condition of the once pristine, captivating and welcoming structure made it bard to believe that the gloom building was once the castle of the princess of friendship. After a deep breath the mare started down the Erie abandon Street. Her hoof steps echoed into the distance.
After a short walk she found her self at the bottom of a small hill on the edge of town. The rainbow colored Maine Pegasus made her way to the top of the hill. A cream colored Pegasus with a pink Maine sat at the top of the hill. She was sobbing softly with one hoof on a marble head stone. The light blue mare called out with Ginuwine care and worry in her voice "fluttershy.... are you ok".
Fluttershy replied with a quit "ill be fine rainbow dash". As rainbow dash sat next to fluttershy she read the head stone she had read 100 times before. It read here lies princess twilight sparkle rainbow dash broke the silence by pulling fluttershy in close with a wing.
Tears now building up in het eyes as well, she said "twilight saved all of us she gave her life to keep all her friends safe." Rainbow could hear muffled cries from the smaller pegasus. She could feel her coat being dampened from the tears. She pulled away and moved the pink main from flattery’s eyes and said "we need to go you know its not safe here we need to get back the apple family farm" the cream colored Pegasus simply nodded and stood up.
The two mares turned to walk away and started toward the apple family farm. As they walked down the hill rainbow dash looked back and thought I cant believe your gone it all happened so fast. She turned back and continued with Fluttershy. After a long walk the reached a large wall that surrounded the apple farm. The wall stood ten to fifteen feet tall. As the two walked up to a large gate. A white stallion unicorn with a dark blur main appeared on top of the wall his horn lit up with a dark pink glow of magic, a cross bow envelop in a dark pink magic aura appeared and aim down towards them.
He shouted down towards them saying " identify yourself".
Rainbow Dash call back "it's me rainbow dash and Fluttershy".
He kept the crossbow trained on the two and demand they show their id's the two removed a small bit of paper from their saddle bag. The paper was taken up by the stallion check and then he lowered the crossbow.
Fluttershy spoke up for the first time since they left the hill, and asked "are you going to let is in Shining armor". He nodded and turned around and muffle yelling Was heard. The large gate slowly creaked open just enough for the two mares to walk though. As the two entered they saw, the few dozen ponies that now lived there just doing what they could do to help make life there possible. The gate closed behind them sealing them off from the rest of the world.
A pink pony bounced toward the two pegasi with a bright smile on her face. When she got closer she slid to a halt and exclaimed "ohhh I am so happy you found her dashie".
Rainbow dash spoke in a hushed tone "she went to see twilights uhhh..." "well you know" .
The smile left the earth ponies face but soon returned she replied "at least you two did not get hurt while out there. Fluttershy if you want to leave you need to tell us. We were scared when we could not find you".
Fluttershy said in almost a whisper "sorry".
The pink pony turned around and as she hopped away said i need to get back to helping gather food ill see you two latter".
Rainbow dash went to fly up to a small cloud she kept around for the pegasi to rest on after a long day of work. The cloud was white fluffy and just big enough for two ponies to lay side by side on. But as she unfurled her wings she quickly pulled them back to her side as she winced in pain. Fluttershy put a hoof to rainbow dash’s side to steady the mare.
She spoke with a true concern in her voice "are you ok".
The light blue Pegasus said "yay yay my wing still hurts a lot from the last time we where attacked".
Fluttershy replied sternly with "the doctor told you to take it easy".
Rainbow with her head hung low muttered "i know i know".
A sharp scream came from near by and a voice “yelled out look up there”.
High up in the sky there was an Pegasus flying as fast as they could when a bolt of light came from no where and struck the Pegasus mid flight and the pegasus started falling straight toward the farm.
Rainbow yelled " she's unconscious". And dove up in to the air pain from her wing coursing through her body she flew a few feet in the air and before she could look up she was struck by the falling Pegasus’s unconscious body. The two slammed in to the ground. Neither pegasi moved as they lay in a cloud of dust.
Fluttershy ran up and instantly identified the other Pegasus and gasped in shock as she said "spitfire?" The two pegasi lay one on top of the other still not moving as doctors rushed over to help them.
Pinkie pie walked down the cool cement step that lead to the apple farm cellar. She pushed the main door open to expose the make shift hospital that was made since the real hospital was destroyed. Beds lined both walls most where empty, medical equipment sat next to each bed. As the pink pony slowly made her way across the open room towards two beds the had the privacy curtains closed. She saw a white mare with a red cross for a cutie mark and in a hushed voice “asked is that rainbow dash and spitfire nurse red hart?”
The nurse replied with a simple nod.
Pinkie spoke again trying to fight back the tears “ar… are they going to be o… ok?”
Nurse red hart stood silent and just stared at the pink pony before her. With a deep sigh she said “they should be but I am running out of medical supplies and I don’t have the proper equipment to fix them up so we will just have to let them heal on there own time.”
The pink earth pony hung her head down and gazed at the floor for a minute before speaking up again. “can I see them?”
The nurse shook her head and softly said “they need their rest”
Pinkie perked up and said “what if I can get the medical stuff for you”
She was answered with the “supplies?” “there might be something left in the ruins of the old hospital, but is far far to dangerous”
Pinkie said in a stern voice “then I have to try” she turned to run out of the cellar but was stopped by shinning armor.
He said “you cant go it suicidal”
The pink pony pushed and squirmed to try and brake free from his grasp and cried out “let me go they need those supplies”.
He just help the mare close and said “you cant go alone take fluttershy with you”
All he got In response was a sharp “NO I will mot let any one else get hurt I am going and I am going alone it will be quicker that way.”
Shinning armor called over a guard and said make sure she does not leave lock her in the upstairs bed room.
The guard pick her up with his magic aura and walked towards the house and proceeded to do as shining armor instructed. Pinkie pie tried as hard as she could to get free but stopped struggling when they reach the room and the guard set her down inside, and closed and locked the door.
Pinkie knew she needed to get those supplies and devised a brilliant plan. She waited until night which was only a couple hours away. She then proceeded to sneak out the window and onto the roof of the two-story house that sit next to the wall. She used the bed sheets to make a rope and tossed it to the top of the wall. The then proceeded to climb her way to the top of the wall. She took one last look back and took a beep breath to steel her self. Pinkie pie the jumped to a near by bush earning herself a few cuts and bruises but nothing serious. She then galloped off into the direction of the hospital.
Soon after pinkie made her escape the door to the second floor bedroom slowly creaked open. Shining Armor spoke up as he was opening the door “I am sorry I couldn't let you g….” but was cut off when he saw that the pink pony was gone and the window was open.
He turn to the guard that was standing in front of the door and said “you were supposed to make sure she didn’t leave” with a deep sigh he continued speaking “get a search party to check ever inch of the farm first then report back to me”
The full moon loomed over head sending a dim glow though trees that lined the dirt road toward town. branches and few leaves that where still attached to the trees made the moon light dance across the road, as the wind forced the trees to sway gently back and forth. The pink pony walked slowly instead of her usual hopping. Leafs and twigs snapped and crunched under her hoofs.
A large stone structure came in to view as pinkie pie continued down the road. Boards coved most of the windows. The majority of the roof was caved in. She looked in between the cracks in the boards making sure to be quite and make sure no pony was in side. The pink earth pony walked around the building and noticed a hole just big enough for her to squeeze though. As she squrmed and twisted in the hole she heard a deep roaring coming from near by. She pulled her way through the as fast as she could and landed flat on her stomach with a hard thud. Then the roaring came back but loader and meaner. What ever was making that noise was getting closer and was enraged .
After a deep breath pinkie pie got her nerves back and muttered to her self “Dashie needs those supplies”
She scanned the room for any supplies in the room that she entered though. Her eyes came across a cabinet she trotted over and sighed when she noticed it was already open. Pinkie figured that it was already empty but looked any way. To her surprise there was a couple bottles of pain killers laying on the shelf but nothing else.
The pink pony sighed and a little to load said “that not enough for every pony”. Another ear shattering bone chilling roar rang out from the close vicinity, that sent tremors though the decaying hospital. Pinkie felt her hart skip a beat when she heard foot step stomping and crashing down the hall just out side the room. The sound Claws dragging down the stone floor of the hall, coming in her direction made her crotch down behind a turned over table. It went quite all that was heard was the shallow, soft breathing of the earth pony. She stayed hidden for what felt like an eternity but was probably only a few minutes before looking over the table.
There was a chilling silence, she walked over to the door and opened it slowly. The door let out a high pitched creaking that pierced though the silence like a rock thrown in to a still lake ripping out ward. Pinkie pie peered out into the hall and looked back and forth. There was no pony there. As she stepped out in to the hall her sky blue eyes grew as they caught sight of three deep claw marks along the wall and a second set on the floor.
Pinkie pie swallowed hard and started down the hall slow and steady. After walking for a while she found a nurse station. There was a small map on the desk that had room names and numbers. After surveying the map she found a room labeled medical supplies vault. She quickly realized that the medical supplies vault was just down the hall and around the corner. She turned and walked at a fast past towards the vault.
The entire time she was walking she could feel eyes watching and stalking her. When she reached the door to the room that had the vault in it she pushed it open. The ceiling was gone most of it was scattered across education the floor. Pinkie looked over at the vault, the door of the vault had been torn open and was partially crushed. Pinkie pie asked her self out load “what could possibly have the strength to tear a steal door off this massive vault”
As the pink pony walked towards the open vault she noticed that all the supplies where still there, even some more random things but it all piled in the center of the vault. The ground shook violently as some pony or something landed behind her from the open roof. Pinkie looked frantically for a place to hide but it was to late. She could already feel it’s breath on her back a and neck. As a low growl spilled though the quite of the room. She was frozen in fear but slowly started to turn around to see who or what was behind her. Her entire body shook when she say who it was.
A massive purple dragon stood there towering over the small pony. Green spikes lined his back, he gained at her to show several rows of large sharp teeth. Smoke bellowed from his nostrils, as pinkie pie slowly back up. The dragon reared his front claws up and slammed them to the ground . Causing a large piece of ruble to fall from the ceiling landing on pinkie pies rear hoof pinning her to the ground. The dragon leaned in while growling deeply but quietly. As he came closers pinkie looked up at him she gasped and said
“ s…. S..Spike? Is that you it me your friend. Please don’t kill me. SPIKEEEE.”
He froze in his tracks for a moment. Then let out a defining roar. He opened his mouth and pinkie pie saw a low glow of green fire building in the back of his mouth. She looked away shut her blue eyes as tears rolled down her cheek and fell to the ground. Her mind wondered to the friends she had lost and the ones she was going to leave behind. All she could feel is the pain of loss a broken leg and a growing heat slowly getting closers to the front of her.
