> Playing in the Mud > by The Dark Wolf > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Rarity's Secret Desire > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rainbow Dash was playing a soccer game against the Shadowbolts. They were playing at a soccer field with a circular dirt track around it. It was raining hard, but Rainbow Dash didn't mind. On the contrary, she actually liked the rain a bit. Her friends, who were not playing, stood to the side, each with an umbrella, right next to the track, which was now made of mud due to the rain. Rainbow Dash was wearing her usual pink miniskirt and skintight black shorts, which were completely soaked, but that didn't stop her from playing as best she could and scoring more goals than anyone else on her team, keeping a big lead the entire game. As Lemon Zest had the ball and made her way toward the goal, Rainbow Dash kicked the ball away, a little harder than she had intended, because the game was about to end and she wanted to score one more goal, even though she knew there was no way she could possibly lose at this point. The ball rolled toward the track, and as Rainbow Dash ran after it as fast as she could, the rain stopped. The track looked slick with mud, but all Rainbow could think about was getting the ball before it was out of bounds. Sunny Flare slid on the ground and kicked the ball away from Rainbow Dash. Unable to stop herself, Rainbow lost her footing and fell face first onto the muddy track. Sunny Flare passed the ball to Indigo Zap, but at that moment, the announcer said "Time's up! Team Rainbow Dash wins!" Rainbow Dash sat up, getting more mud all over her back half, but she didn't care. "All right!" she said, raising her fist in the air, satisfied at having won the game. "Oooooh, looks like fun!" said Pinkie Pie, and she ran over to Rainbow Dash, jumped into the mud beside her, and started playing around. Her jean shorts were saturated with mud within seconds, but she enjoyed it. This was really fun for her. Rainbow Dash chuckled. "Pinkie Pie, you are so random!" Twilight, Sunset, Fluttershy, and Applejack laughed, but Rarity could only stare. Pinkie Pie was playing in the mud like it was nothing. To keep up her prim, ladylike image, Rarity pretended to hate getting dirty, but just once she'd like to try it. She made a slight motion, about to run over and join Pinkie and Rainbow, but stopped. She didn't want to admit to anyone, even her friends, that she wanted to get dirty. She had kept up her facade for too long, and it just didn't seem ladylike. But, more than ever now she wanted to do it. And, she could think of one girl who could help. One girl who had a mud field at her home. One girl who liked her a great deal, however often they had butted heads in the past, and would understand her interest in this, for she didn't mind getting dirty any more than Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie. ... An hour later, Applejack was at her home, having finished dinner, when there was a knock at the door. She opened it. In the doorway stood Rarity, wearing a light blue tank top and short purple shorts. Applejack thought she looked absolutely stunning. More fashionable than the dusty old jeans Applejack was wearing now, but jeans, jean shorts, or jean skirts were her style and Rarity had hers. "Howdy, Rarity," said Applejack. "Applejack... can I ask a favor of you?" said Rarity, looking and sounding a little nervous. "Sure thing." "But first, I want you to promise you won't tell another soul." "I promise." Rarity's heart was pounding. "You see... I... I know I act like I hate getting dirty, but the truth is, I've always wanted to. I know it doesn't seem very ladylike, but when I saw Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie in the mud earlier today, all I could think about was how badly I wanted to be in their position. But I couldn't go into the mud with them because I don't want anyone to know that I'm less ladylike..." "Rares, no one's gonna think you're too unladylike for that," said Applejack. "There's a LOT less ladylike things than that that Rainbow and Pinkie like to do. And me as well. Most of us don't mind it too much. Pinkie Pie loves it, and ah think Fluttershy does too. And, why didn't you pretend to trip and fall in?" Rarity relaxed a bit knowing Applejack wasn't making fun of her for it. "I didn't think I'd be able to make it look convincing." "Well, if playin' in the mud is what you wanna do, you came to the right girl," said Applejack. "We can use the mud field in mah backyard, and then ah can give you a shower and bubblebath when you're done. You can tell anyone you meet on the way home that we had a water fight instead. Ah know you've had fun doin' water fights with us." Rarity had initially rejected the idea of water fights, for the effect it would have on her hair, but Rainbow Dash and Applejack had talked her into it and she had found it quite fun, plus her hair had restyled itself within minutes. Applejack and Rarity walked into the backyard, over to a corner of the mud area a bit away from the pigs. It was similar to the mud pit that the pony Rainbow Dash had put Applejack's bed in as a prank, but bigger. "Well, go ahead," said Applejack. Rarity stood at the edge of the mud. This was it. She would finally live her deepest fantasy. She'd finally know what it was like to be covered in mud, and be able to enjoy it fully without anyone making fun of her for being too unladylike. She raised a foot, but hesitated. Her heart was pounding faster. What if she found she didn't like it? Impossible. Watching Pinkie Pie had confirmed to her that she would love it. "Come on, Rarity, you can do this!" said Rarity under her breath. She looked as though she was about to jump, then stopped, then raised her leg to step into the mud, then stopped again. Then, Applejack gave her a little shove, and she fell face first into the mud. Rarity felt repulsed at first, but only for a split second. It felt strangely wonderful to get mud all over her legs, her shorts, her tank top, her hair. To let down her clean-loving, prim, ultra-feminine facade and let her deepest dreams become a reality. "Thank you Applejack," said Rarity as she got into a sitting position. "I needed that. I was hesitating too much." Without a moment's hesitation, Applejack sat down in the mud next to Rarity, getting her tight jeans dirty. "Any time." Rarity liked having someone to share this experience with. They playfully splashed each other with mud, and once they got tired they laid there for about ten minutes. This was more enjoyable for Rarity than she could have anticipated. ... "Applejack?" said Rarity as they were taking a bubblebath together, fully clothed, after showering. "Yes, Rares?" "Could we possibly do that again sometime?" "Of course we will. And remember, if anyone asks why you're soakin' wet, we were havin' a water fight." > Aria vs. Sonata > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unbeknownst to the Equestria Girls, while Rainbow Dash was playing soccer, the Dazzlings were going for a walk at the park. As soon as the rain had begun falling, Adagio Dazzle and Aria Blaze had stood under a roof for shelter, while Sonata Dusk played around in the rain, finding this to be one of the most fun things she could do. "I'll never get why she likes the rain so much," said Aria. "Last time I walked in the rain was after we lost our power." It was a depressing walk for her and Adagio, but nothing but fun for Sonata. "Come on out, the water's nice!" said Sonata. Adagio and Aria shook their heads. Sonata shrugged and continued splashing around in puddles. Finally, the rain stopped. Sonata looked disappointed. Her hair and pink miniskirt were completely soaked, but she didn't mind in the slightest. "Let's go," said Adagio, and she and Aria walked out from under the roof, and the three ex-sirens continued their walk. Sonata stopped to look at a big mud puddle on the side of the path. Adagio and Aria took no notice and kept walking, until they heard a splash. They turned around to see Sonata sitting in the mud puddle, playing around in it. "Sonata, quit fooling around!" said Aria, walking over to her. "We've already been held up by the rain, and we don't need... HEY!" Sonata grabbed Aria's arm and pulled her into the mud with her. Aria's white shirt, green vest, and purple jeans were now very dirty, and she didn't like it one bit. "What was that for?" "To show you how fun this is!" "I'll show you fun!" Aria splashed Sonata with mud. Sonata responded by splashing Aria, drenching her even further. Aria got Sonata in a headlock, trying to knock her out, but Sonata tickled Aria's sides a bit, causing her to release her. Sonata forced Aria facedown in the mud and sat on her back. "I win!" said Sonata. Aria got up on all fours and bucked Sonata off her like a horse. Or a pony. Sonata grabbed Aria's leg and pulled on it, causing her to fall facedown. Then she kicked more mud on her. Aria spun her leg around and tripped Sonata, who fell in her back. She got back up, grabbed Aria's arm, and held it behind her back. "Break it up!" said Adagio. "It's getting late. It's almost time for dinner. We should be going home now." Aria and Sonata splashed Adagio with mud. They giggled while Adagio looked annoyed. ... About half an hour later, the Dazzlings were eating dinner, having washed and changed into clean, dry outfits. "Next time we find a mud puddle, you are so dead," said Aria to Sonata. Sonata only giggled. Aria could beat her up any time she wanted. She must have enjoyed playing around in the mud as much as she had. > The Cutie Mark Crusaders > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- A few years had passed, and the Cutie Mark Crusaders were now 19, each as tall as her sister/sister figure. They were camping at a campsite they liked to go to. Apple Bloom was wearing a green T-shirt and jeans, bigger than the ones she had worn when she was younger. Sweetie Belle was wearing a light blue tank top and a pink skirt halfway to her knees. Scootaloo was dressed more athletically, wearing a dark purple midriff T-shirt and matching short, skintight shorts. She used to prefer her hair being shorter, but a few years ago she had let it grow longer so she could have the same hairstyle as Rainbow Dash. Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle kept their hairstyles, though Sweetie Belle's looked a little fancier. They were walking down a path after a big rainstorm. There were mud puddles everywhere. "It sure rained hard this mornin', didn't it?" said Apple Bloom. "Good thing there was no thunder, or I couldn't have had any fun with it," said Sweetie Belle, who had run around in the rain after changing into a purple midriff tank top and short, black, skintight shorts she had brought specifically for playing in the rain, which she had always found extremely fun. "Race you to that tree!" said Scootaloo, and she ran. Apple Bloom started to run after her, but tripped over a rock and fell face first in a big mud puddle. Scootaloo stopped and turned around as Apple Bloom got into a sitting position, spitting out mud. "Why not have fun with it?" said Sweetie Belle, and she jumped face first into the mud, splashing Apple Bloom. Sweetie Belle's dress was now covered with mud, but she didn't mind, even though she'd have preferred wearing her rain shorts for this. "Hey, you splashed me!" said Apple Bloom, though not sounding truly annoyed, and she splashed Sweetie Belle back. Scootaloo watched the two girls splashing each other, getting dirtier by the second. "Come in and join us!" said Apple Bloom. "No thanks," said Scootaloo. Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle splashed her, splattering mud all across her front. Scootaloo grinned mischievously and jumped into the mud, splashing both Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom. They splashed her back, which eventually got to throwing balls of mud at each other as if it were a snowball fight. Then Apple Bloom forced Sweetie Belle facedown in the mud and sat on her back, until Scootaloo tackled her off. Sweetie Belle spun her leg and tripped Scootaloo, knocking her on her rear. Eventually, the three girls got tired of playing in the mud and walked for a while, not caring that they were all completely covered in mud, until they walked over to the lake and went for a swim. By the time they emerged from the water, sparkly clean and soaking wet, the sun came out, so they lay on the beach and let the sun dry them, relaxing after playing around so hard. > Rarity vs. Sunset > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rarity and Sunset Shimmer were camping. Rarity was wearing a light blue tank top and short, purple shorts with the diamond cutie mark on the sides. Sunset was wearing a white shirt with pink sleeves and short gray shorts. It had just rained, so there were mud puddles all along the side of the path they were walking on. "Oh my," said Rarity, looking up at a rainbow in the sky. "Will you look at that... Agh!" Not looking where she was going, she slipped on a banana peel, slid forward a bit, and fell face-first into a large mud puddle on the side of a turn on the path. Getting into a sitting position, Rarity looked down at her mud-soaked legs and shorts, and let out a squeal of excitement, before coughing a bit. "I mean... this is absolutely revolting! I need to take a bath right now!" But she liked it too much to even want to stand up. "I... I'm so disgusted I can barely move." Sunset could already guess the truth, and Rarity's secret interest overlapped with something she had wanted to do for a while. "You know, Rarity, if it's not too much trouble... I've always wanted to try mud wrestling. I was planning on asking Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, or Applejack, but since you're already in the mud, if you don't mind..." "Well... I might as well. It's not like I'm going to get any dirtier." She sounded less interested than she actually was. Sunset dove toward the mud. Rarity rolled out of the way and Sunset splashed facefirst into the mud, splashing more mud over Rarity. Rarity's hair, tank top, arms, shorts, and legs were now completely covered in mud. "Oh it is so on!" Trying her best to contain her enthusiasm, Rarity sat on Sunset's back and pulled her leg, but not too hard. Sunset tickled Rarity's sides a bit, causing her to let go, and then rolled out from under Rarity. She pinned Rarity to the ground, and Rarity rolled around so that she was now pinning Sunset. Sunset threw Rarity off her and sat up. Her shorts, shirt, and hair were now as muddy as Rarity's. They stood up and grabbed each other's hands, each trying to push the other backwards. And then Rarity suddenly leaned to the side, causing both girls to splash sideways into the mud. After which they wrestled some more. Sunset climbed onto Rarity's back with her legs wrapped around her chest and forced her facedown into the mud. After she was down for a few seconds, Sunset relaxed her hold on Rarity, who quickly threw her off, causing her to fall backwards into the mud, splashing Sunset more. Sunset was enjoying this a great deal. She usually never played in the mud like Pinkie Pie did, or fallen in like Rainbow Dash. She just didn't have a reason to, but she had always thought it would be fun. Pinkie could do anything for no reason, and Rainbow Dash usually only accidentally fell in. It was the revelation that Rarity loved it that convinced her to finally try it. Rarity picked up Sunset, lifted her above her head, and threw her down into the mud, though lightly enough so that she knew it wouldn't hurt her. Sunset spun her leg around and tripped Rarity, who landed in a sitting position in the mud, splashing Sunset a bit. Sunset splashed Rarity in turn, who splashed back. After a bit of splashing, they went back to wrestling, until they got tired and sat in the mud puddle, panting more out of how fun their fight had been rather than exhaustion. They were completely covered in mud to the point that if anyone were to walk by they'd be unable to recognize them even by their hairstyle. "That was fun," said Sunset. "Simply divi... I mean, I suppose it was all right," said Rarity. "You don't have to pretend. I know you were really enjoying yourself just now. You couldn't hide it." Rarity just giggled slightly nervously. "Besides, Pinkie Pie likes it as much as we do. I'm pretty sure if the three of us challenged Rainbow Dash, she'd accept." "And Applejack," said Rarity. "She knows about my secret love for getting dirty, and we've played in the mud together." Playing in the mud with both Applejack and Sunset made her more confident to reveal this to Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie. "Do you think Fluttershy and Twilight would want to try it?" "I'm not sure. Probably not Fluttershy, but I'll get Applejack or Rainbow Dash to ask them." It suddenly started raining hard, again, washing the mud off Rarity and Sunset in seconds. They were a little disappointed, but the rain felt so refreshing, and they wouldn't have to wash up in the lake now. Sunset also had to admit Rarity's hair looked better when wet. "Something tells me Twilight would have a lot of fun with it," said Sunset with a wink. ... A week later, Rarity, Sunset, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, and Twilight were having a six-way mud fight in Applejack's backyard: Sunset in the same outfit, Rarity in her usual purple skirt, Applejack and Pinkie Pie in jean shorts, Rainbow Dash in her usual outfit, and Twilight in her Legend of Everfree outfit. Fluttershy sat to the side, having decided not to participate but enjoying the show. Fluttershy couldn't help but notice the other girls looked as though they were having a lot of fun. She moved her chair right to the edge of the mud field. She didn't want to do anything particularly rough, but she did kind of want them to splash her. Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie jumped at Sunset and Twilight, who immediately dropped to the ground face first in the mud, causing Rainbow and Pinkie to bellyflop near the edge, splashing Fluttershy and soaking her pink hair, her white tank top, and her green skirt thoroughly. She let out a squeak of surprise. Rainbow and Pinkie didn't even notice the state Fluttershy was in before Rarity and Applejack, respectively, grabbed their feet and dragged them backwards. Fluttershy giggled. She didn't mind getting dirty. She even liked playing in the mud with the pigs sometimes. One of these days maybe she would jump in... > Fluttershy and Applejack > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fluttershy was helping Applejack feed the pigs at her farm. The pigs were in a pigpen full of mud. Applejack had been working around the farm all morning so she was very sweaty, even though she was wearing a white and green T-shirt and a short, tight pair of jean shorts. Fluttershy had just arrived recently, and was wearing her usual white tank top and green skirt. They watched the pigs eat the food they threw into the pigpen for them, and then the pigs looked up at Fluttershy and started to oink at her. "They want me to play with them," said Fluttershy. Without a moment's hesitation she jumped into the mud and sat down. Applejack chuckled. This wasn't the first time Fluttershy had done this, and she knew it wouldn't be the last. The pigs pawed at the mud a bit, splattering Fluttershy. Fluttershy giggled and splashed them lightly with mud. The pigs jumped and belly flopped onto the mud, splashing Fluttershy and saturating her completely. Fluttershy let out a little squeal, but giggled once it was over. The pigs started to roll around, and Fluttershy rolled in the mud with them. "Mind if ah join in?" said Applejack, who remembered how much fun she often had in the mud with the other girls these days. Fluttershy still hadn't joined in a mud fight but had always made sure she was sitting close enough to get splashed. "Not at all," said Fluttershy. Applejack jumped up and did a cannonball into the mud, splashing Fluttershy and the pigs, and getting her jean shorts dirty. The pigs all started to oink. "They really liked that," said Fluttershy. "Um, if we're going to have a mud fight, can we just splash each other? I'm not ready for anything rough yet." "Sure thing, Fluttershy," said Applejack. Fluttershy splashed Applejack lightly. Applejack splashed Fluttershy a lot harder. Not that Fluttershy could get any dirtier. Then the pigs splashed Applejack and Fluttershy. Whatever parts of Applejack that were still clean were now completely covered in mud. Applejack didn't mind. She liked it a lot. They had a lot of fun splashing and rolling in the mud for several minutes, before Applejack stood up. "I got a few other things to do today," she said. "But it's been real fun." Applejack and Fluttershy stepped out of the pigpen and shook hands. The pigs looked satisfied at playing with Fluttershy and Applejack. "Before you get back to work," said Fluttershy, "could you please..." "I'm on it, sugarcube." Applejack sprayed Fluttershy with the hose, rinsing the mud off her. "Mind hosin' me down next?" Fluttershy grabbed the hose and sprayed Applejack. She found it refreshing after working for so long in the summer heat. Soon both girls were soaking wet and relatively clean. "Thank you kindly, Fluttershy," said Applejack. "For rinsin' me off and helpin' feed the pigs." "I'm honored to help," said Fluttershy, and she walked back to her house. > Twilight and Rarity > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Twilight and Rarity were walking at the park one day. It was a beautiful day, and not too hot, for it had rained hard last night. "Congratulations on selling that new fashion line," said Twilight. "Why thank you," said Rarity. "And I already have a new idea for another one. Though... it is one I would really like to wear in the mud." She giggled a bit. "Ooh! That reminds me, there's sure to be lots of mud puddles here after that rain." "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" "Let's go!" Twilight and Rarity ran around the park in search of some mud. They splashed through big puddles, not caring how wet they got. Finally, they found a path that was made entirely of dirt, and it was now very slick mud, nowhere close to drying due to the trees on the sides. No one ever used this path during or after rain except Rainbow Dash and Applejack, who would often race down it, especially after it rained. "Perfect," said Rarity, feeling very excited. "What do you say we warm up by racing to the other side of that path and back?" Twilight suggested. "It is on!" Twilight and Rarity started running through the slick mud. Their shoes squelched, and mud splattered on both their outfits, but they didn't mind. They really enjoyed getting dirty like this. Equally fast, both girls were neck in neck, and then they approached a muddy puddle on the right side of the path. Rarity ran through the puddle, splashing dirty water on Twilight. Twilight let out a squeal of surprise, but giggled afterwards. They were about three quarters of the way done, when Twilight slipped on a slippery patch of mud and fell on her back. She lay in the mud as Rarity ran ahead. Twilight sat up, shook her head a bit, and continued running, picking up the pace to catch up to Rarity. Rarity ran back, splattering Twilight a bit as she did so. Twilight ran faster, reaching the end of the path, turning around, and dashing back the way she came. Moments later, she saw Rarity up ahead, sitting in the mud, evidently having also slipped and fallen. Twilight overtook her, making sure to splatter her with mud, not out of poor sportsmanship, but because she knew she liked it. Rarity was not far behind Twilight when she started running again, but Twilight was still in the lead. She was sure they were about a quarter of the way to the finish. Then, Twilight slipped and fell on her back again at an angle diagonal to the path, sliding a bit ahead. Rarity tried to stop, but skidded in the mud, tripped over Twilight, and fell face-first in the muck. "Sorry Rarity," said Twilight, sitting up. Rarity got up on all fours, now completely covered in mud back and front. "Oh, it's quite all right. I hope you weren't hurt." "No, I'm fine." Twilight and Rarity stood up. "The race is still on," said Twilight. "3... 2... 1..." Both muddy girls sprinted towards the end of the path, trying not to slip while maintaining their speed at the same time. Twilight nearly slipped but jumped and caught her balance. They were neck in neck again, about to reach the finish... ...and then they both slipped again. Rarity fell on her back, while Twilight slipped the other way and fell on her face. Both slid forward a bit in the mud, stopping just a few inches away from the concrete path. Twilight rubbed the mud out of her glasses. It wasn't perfect, but she'd be able to do better with some tissues she had in her waterproof bag. She quickly touched the concrete path with her finger. "I win!" Rarity sat up. "Good game, Twilight." "Good game, Rarity." They shook hands, both covered in mud from head to toe. "Now what?" "Now for a good old-fashioned mud fight," said Rarity. Twilight set her glasses and bag to the side, and they started mud wrestling. Twilight grabbed Rarity's arm and forced her facedown into the mud, but Rarity got free of her. They grabbed each other and rolled around in the mud for a bit, then Rarity sat on Twilight's back and grabbed her leg, pulling on it. "All right, all right, you win, Rarity!" Rarity released Twilight. "That was fun." "It sure was." They shook hands again. "If it were Applejack and Rainbow Dash, I'm sure they'd want a tiebreaker." "How about we run the track again, and the first to slip and fall loses?" "You're on." They stood up. Twilight picked up her glasses, wiped them off with a tissue, put them back on, stood beside Rarity, and said "Ready, set, go!" They ran down the path, often nearly slipping, but stopping themselves at the last second, and sometimes jumping to avoid falling. They splattered each other with mud, but this hardly made a difference, as there was not a single clean spot on them anymore. Then, as they were about halfway across, Rarity slipped and fell face-first onto the muddy path. Twilight heard her shriek and the splash. She wouldn't stop running unless she knew Rarity had lost, or else they'd have to start over. She looked behind her and saw Rarity laying facedown. She stopped running and turned around. "I win!" said Twilight, jumping into the air. As soon as she landed, she slipped on the mud and fell on her back. Rarity got up and walked over to Twilight. "Are you all right?" Twilight sat up. "Of course. That was actually kind of funny." She giggled. Rarity sat down next to her and giggled as well, shaking Twilight's hand. "Now what?" said Twilight. "Now, let's go rinse off in the pond." "Sounds good."
