> A Flash in Timber > by The Blue Bandit > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Chapter 1, Friendship Blooms > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 1, Friendship Blooms Canterlot High was a school unlike any others, it could be very different at times, and the students had gone through a lot. Most students at Canterlot High had been hoping for a period of time without any magic, good or bad, they just wanted to have a normal school life. Flash Sentry was among those students as he had witnessed everything that had happened and also had been affected by the magic. One morning Flash was by the steps at Canterlot High and he stood waiting for Sunset Shimmer as they had a study session, as he waited he couldn’t help but stare at the statue that was in the front of the school. He wished that someone that was very dear to him would show up at the school again, someone who was a princess, someone who he had a crush on. Twilight Sparkle was her name. He’d formed an attraction to her and she’d felt the same, however, she had to return to her land. A new Twilight Sparkle had shown up at the school but she didn’t feel the same attraction to Flash as her doppelganger had. He continued staring at the statue, but his eyes went onto something else as he noticed that Timber Spruce walking up the path. Flash had felt conflicted by Timber ever since they’d met, as Flash felt like Twilight had been stolen from him by Timber. However, deep down he knew that that Twilight was never his to be stolen from. Flash let out a he sigh when he noticed that Timber was walking towards him as he didn’t feel like talking to Timber. Timber stopped near Flash, “Hi Flash, have you seen Twilight around?” “No, sorry.” Flash replied honestly. “Oh, we were meant to meet up here before going to get coffee at the diner,” Timber said. “Do you mind if I wait here?” “No, not at all.” Flash said untruthfully. The two stood by the steps in an awkward silence, each of them staring down at their shoes waiting for the girls to show up. They were both bored. Flash started humming randomly, creating a new catchy tune that caught Timber’s attention. Timber listened to Flash’s humming and he really liked it, and knew that if Flash played the tune on guitar it would sound even better. “So, why are you here this morning?” Timber asked after Flash had stopped humming. “Both Sunset and I have a test coming up and we’re studying together for it.” Flash lied as he didn’t want to sound dumb because he needed some help. “I never had you down as the studying type,” Timber said. “But I guess looks can be deceiving.” “There’s a lot that you don’t know about me, Timber” Flash shot Timber a glare.. This started another awkward silence and this time Flash didn’t hum up a new tune as they stared at the statue. Flash and Timber were getting bored of the silence, Timber wanted to get along with Flash for once as they’d never been able to have an actual conversation like he did with many other students of Canterlot High. The silence was broken when both Sunset and Twilight showed up together and they both began talking about something that had happened on their way to the school. “Hey guys, you’ll never guess what happened on our way here!” Sunset stopped near them. “So we were walking on the path when a bird passed, and Fluttershy was running after it because it had flown away from the animal shelter.” Twilight said. “And Fluttershy just kept shouting for it to come back and she didn’t stop for around ten minutes until the bird went back to her!” Sunset laughed. “I felt really sorry for her, I couldn’t resist laughing though.” Twilight felt a bit mean, but she still thought it was funny. “Sounds really funny.” Flash sighed and looked at his shoes. “So did anything happen here?” Sunset asked. “No, not really.” Timber answered. The two duos parted ways, Twilight and Timber headed towards the diner and Sunset and Flash headed inside the school. Both Sunset and Flash made their way to an empty classroom and they sat at a desk facing each other, they then got out their textbooks and started going through it together. They had been having these study sessions for a week now and Sunset had noticed that Flash wasn’t giving enough effort into studying than she did. Flash would sometimes tap the tables with his hands, she had also noticed that after awhile he would usually turn his interest onto something else. Today wasn’t the exception and he continued to lose interest in the studying, Sunset wondered what had taking over his mind this time. She had tried her best to help Flash raise his grades, however she didn’t know how the sessions were helping him, especially since he noticed that he got a D- on his last paper. “Flash.” Sunset said, trying to get his attention.   “What?” He replied. “You were meant to read this paragraph.” Sunset pointed at the text-book. “Sorry, I’ve just got a few things on mind right now.” Flash said. “Like what?” Sunset asked. “Twilight, I’m just wondering how she is.” Flash looked at the statue through the window briefly. “I hate to say this, but could you think about that later. We have to study.” Sunset said. Sunset wasn’t surprised that Flash was thinking about Twilight as she consumed his thoughts a lot of the time, however she didn’t like it when it happened in study sessions, and sometimes he didn’t stop thinking about her for a long time. This time he listened and he began to read the paragraph out, Sunset then helped him understand what he didn’t already know. Flash appreciated her help and he knew that it wasn’t easy to help him, especially when he never showed an interest in the study. They’d worked hard for an hour and Sunset decided that it was time the two had a quick break before they began studying yet again. She was proud that Flash had managed to keep his attention on what they were doing as nothing had interfered their session for the whole hour. Flash couldn’t deny that he’d continued to think about Twilight for the hour, however he was glad that he’d been able to concentrate. “Thanks for helping me Sunset, I’m really grateful.” Flash said. “It’s no problem, you’re a friend that needed help and you did great work just then.” Sunset replied. Sunset went to get some water from the cooler from outside and Flash stared at a wall, then his phone vibrated. He looked at it,  he had a notification that Twilight had posted a new picture online, it was a selfie of her and Timber. Flash stared at it for a moment, then removed it from his screen and turned his phone off. Strangely he then received a strange electric shock from the phone. Flash stared at it in confusion as he wasn’t sure why that he’d just received the shock and his phone was weirdly perfectly fine. Sunset had returned and the two resumed with their study session. As they continued, Flash once again lost focus, Twilight once again was on his mind, he couldn’t get her out of his head. Sunset noticed that he wasn’t as focused as before and she wanted to know what the problem was this time, because he was doing a great job before and now he wasn’t. She closed his books and stared at him in the eye, and he knew that Sunset wasn’t happy about him not being focused. “Flash, why aren’t you concentrating on the work?” Sunset looked directly into his eyes. “It’s the same reason as last time, I guess.” Flash replied. “Okay, you need to get over Twilight Sparkle because it’s affecting you. I think that you should move on and stop thinking about her, you should be studying and thing about school a bit more.” Sunset felt bad for being so harsh, however she knew that she was right. “I guess so.” Flash said. “Right, I think that we’ll stop for now. We have another session in a few days, I’m hoping you’ll be more focused then.” Sunset said. “Yeah I will be.” Flash began packing up his things. Meanwhile at the diner, Timber and Twilight were sitting opposite each other and they both had caffeine beverages in front of them. The two had been there for a while and they’d talked a bit, but it wasn’t the coffee date that Twilight was expecting as Timber barely talked about anything. She’d noticed that he wouldn’t really pay attention to what she was saying and wasn’t laughing at the jokes she was making. “So do you like the coffee?” Twilight asked. “Yeah sure, it’s okay,” Timber took a sip of his drink. “So, what have you been up to recently?” She then asked. “Well there was some campers at the camp the other day so I was doing activities with them, but nothing else really.” He said. “Oh, interesting.” She replied. There was then a silence and they just sat there looking at each other, the only sounds were the people who were sitting around them. Twilight drank her drink and Timber looked around the room, and then he faced Twilight once again. He was trying to find a concept to talk to her about and start up a proper conversation but he couldn’t think about anything. “So I noticed you and Flash were talking before, what were you talking about?” She asked. Timber looked at the window briefly. “Oh nothing, really.” “Well I think he’s finally adjusting to the concept that I’m not ‘his’ Twilight.” She said. “Yeah well it’s pretty confusing, there’s a lot of confusing things that go on around here,” He said. “I would find it hard if I was in his situation.” “Yeah.” Twilight said. “So how’s school been recently?” Timber asked. “Well there’s been a few tests and I’ve been hanging around with the girls but everything has been normal.” Twilight replied. Twilight was actually glad, they had refrained from using their new abilities and nothing strange had appeared in a while. Timber was also glad that nothing had happened as his sister Gloriosa was still embarrassed and ashamed of herself about what had happened previously, and he was also afraid of what could happen. They couldn’t disagree that the town was extremely strange and the stuff that happened was unexplainable. “So, how’re your other friends?” Timber looked at her and smiled. “Yeah everyone’s doing well, what about yours?” Twilight smiled at him. “I don’t have that many friends, but the few that I do have are fine.” Timber answered. “Why don’t you have friends?” Twilight said. “Well I live in Camp Everfree, you can’t make many friends there.” He looked down at the table. “Yeah I guess,” Twilight looked at the door quickly. “We should probably get going, I don’t want to be late for school.” “I’ll walk you back.” Timber said. The two got up and then left the diner and walked hand in hand down the road until they reached the school. Flash was once again by the steps and he was staring at the statue, he knew that Sunset was right he had to forget about Twilight. He then noticed as Twilight and Timber walked up to the steps and then hugged before Twilight headed inside the school. “Hi again.” Timber walked towards him. “Hello.” Flash said. “Sorry if I offended you earlier.” Timber said. “It’s okay, you didn’t, I’ve been having a kinda off day.” Flash replied. “Really? Is there anything I could help you with?” Timber smiled at Flash. This surprised Flash as he’d never expect that Timber would offer his help to him as they weren’t friends. Although he barely knew Timber, he thought that perhaps it wouldn’t hurt to have a talk with him, maybe he’d have advice on how to get over Twilight. “Yeah, how do you get over a girl?” Flash asked. “To be honest with you, I don’t really know,” Timber replied. “You just have to move on, you’ll know when you’re ready to do that. The feelings will fade day after day of you being apart and I guess eventually you won’t think about her as often.” “I didn’t expect that you’d give me good advice.” Flash said, taken aback. “Well then perhaps you don’t know me either, Flash Sentry.” Timber said. “I guess I don’t,” Flash felt bad about his rudeness earlier. “I’m sorry about earlier, I didn’t mean to be rude.” “It’s fine, and anyway you said it yourself, you’ve been having a bad morning.” Timber replied. Timber and Flash stood there as students passed by going inside the school and they looked at each other. Flash would never have thought that he could actually be friends with Timber but now it seemed likely that he’d be a good friend to have. As for Timber, he was glad that he could help out Flash even if his advice wasn’t the best, it would probably help Flash at least a bit. “I don’t suppose you have change for the bus do you?” Timber asked. “Yeah I do actually.” Flash pulled some money out of his pockets and gave it to Timber. “Great thanks, I never knew that coffees were so expensive,” Timber said. “I’ll come by and pay you back tomorrow morning.” “You don’t have to.” Flash smiled at Timber and wondered how he'd never realised that he was such a kind and nice person. “I’ll feel bad if I don’t, I’ll see you tomorrow then.” Timber said. “Yeah, bye.” Flash replied. Timber walked away from the school and Flash and made his way towards the bus shelter that was across the road. Flash went inside, heading for his locker where his books were stored and he wasn’t thinking about Twilight Sparkle. He was now thinking about this new friendship which may have just started between him and Timber, which he’d never believed to be possible earlier that morning. > Chapter 2, Nice and Civil > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 2, Nice and Civil Flash was awoken from his slumber by the rays of sunlight that was now covering his face. He sleepily walked over to his closet, he stumbled on a pile of clothes that had gathered slowly on his floor. He once again made his way to the closet and pulled out an outfit that looked suspiciously identical to the ones that he’d stumbled upon, he dressed himself and stared at the morning light.  He made his way downstairs, once he was on the ground floor he reached for his shoes and slid them onto his feet. Although he didn’t have to, as his parents and little sister Fluoresce weren’t as the house, he still crept around the house. Flash headed for the door, he got hold of his bag and guitar case before opening the exit and taking a step out. Canterlot High wasn’t that far to walk from his house, it was only a few streets away therefore Flash was there quite soon with a couple minutes to spare before Timber’s bus would stop around the corner. Flash went straight to the steps and stood there patiently while he waited for Timber to show up and return the money that Flash had loaned him the day before. It was weird to Flash as he’d never met someone so eager to return something to him so soon, he couldn’t complain though because at least he would have a little while to complete his school work before school started. Timber arrived shortly, he walked towards Flash. “Hey.” “Hi.” Flash replied. “It’s a really nice morning isn’t it?” Timber asked. “Yeah, I guess so.” Flash stared at the glowing sun that shined brightly. “I was wondering, what are you going to do after this?” Timber asked. “Well I was going to finish my homework,” Flash glanced at the school. “Why?” “I was going to ask if you wanted to go to the Sweet Shoppe and get some shakes. But homework is much more important.” Timber responded. “Well it’s not due until next week, I guess I could try to do it later.” Flash said, smiling. “Great” Timber smiled back, he looked at Flash’s guitar case and bag, he pointed at them. “What are you going to do with those?” “I’ll go and drop them off at the music room.” Flash answered. Flash walked inside the school, leaving Timber waiting outside. Timber breathed in the air, noticing how different it was from the air of the forests and the camp. After a few minutes of being alone, Flash reappeared with no possessions, they then began walking, side by side along the path towards the Sweet Shoppe in silence. They were halfway there when Timber accidentally walked into a lamp post due to him being distracted by a bird. Flash wanted to laugh at Timber because he’d just done something that was hilarious, however he didn’t laugh due to him knowing it wasn’t nice. Timber felt utterly embarrassed and clumsy, he was actually expecting to be laughed at due to his stupidity but the people who saw, just continued as if nothing had happened. “Are you ok?” Flash asked. “Yeah, my forehead hurts a little though.” Timber rubbed gently against his forehead. “I’m sure it’ll be fine.” Flash assured. Timber nodded in agreement, the two once again walked side by side down the path, silently. After a few more minutes of silence they eventually arrived at the Sweet Shoppe, they ordered before sitting down at a booth by the window. The shop was full of other students of Canterlot High as it was one of the regular hangouts in town that people went to, to meet up with their friends and chill. “So, how was your date with Twilight yesterday?” Flash asked, awkwardly. “To be honest, it wasn’t the best date I’ve ever been on, it was pretty boring.” Timber sighed, he looked at Flash. “I’m sorry.” Flash said. “It’s fine, there’ll be other dates that will be better.” Timber smiled, showing his pearly white teeth. “Yeah.” “So, have you been playing the guitar long?” ”Yeah I’ve played for a few years. Do you play any instruments?” “Not really, music isn’t my thing.” The two smiled, Mrs Cake who ran the Sweet Shoppe brought over their drinks,  then returned to her counter. The two guys drank a part of their drink a focused on their surroundings for a few minutes. Flash looked at Timber as he was curious, he wasn’t sure what if they were now friends or if they were just people who were hanging out together as a one-off. “So, are you and Sunset now an item?” Timber asked. “Gods no, we are only friends.” Flash laughed in amusement. “Sorry I shouldn’t have assumed you were.” Timber replied. “No it’s fine.” Flash responded. “So what are you doing at school right now?” Timber continued to drink his beverage. Flash began talking about school and what he was doing in his classes, most of this intrigued Timber as he didn’t know what they taught at Canterlot High. The two talked for twenty minutes straight about different subjects, he laughed when Flash brought up funny things about his teachers. The two were talking well, then everything once again grew awkward when a new topic was raised by Flash. “So how’s your sister?” He’d asked. “W-well she’s definitely recovering, she’s a bit scarred though.” Timber examined the room once more. “That’s good. I’m sorry about what happened it must’ve been hard for you too.” Flash said, sympathetically. “It’s okay, seeing your sister like that though. It scared me.” Timber looked down at the table. “Yeah, I understand, and if you ever want to talk about it you can always talk to me.” Flash offered. “Thanks Flash, that’s so kind.” Timber smiled. The two drank their drinks which they weirdly finished at the same time, however before they could resume their conversation, they were interrupted by Twilight and Applejack. The two girls had arrived moments before as they’d walked together to school that morning and they were quite shocked to see Flash and Timber being so civil. The guys moved over making space for the two girls to sit down at the booth. “It’s such a surprise to see you here Timber. I had calculated that we’d see each other in a week or so, after our date yesterday.” Twilight sat quite close to Timber. “I was returning some money that Flash had lent me for the bus yesterday.” Timber replied. “Well it’s good to see you both.” Twilight said. “Twilight and ah were just passin’ by and we saw you through the glass window,” Applejack pointed at the window. “We had to say hello to yah.” “Do you want anything, Twilight?” Timber asked. “No thanks, I was just given one of Grannie Smith’s most nutritious smoothies to try, it was quite filling!” Twilight glanced at her stomach. As the others talked, Flash sat hunched in the corner, not knowing what to say, he was now feeling slightly nervous around Twilight because of his feelings. He sat there, then remembered that Sunset had said that he’d need to get rid of his old feelings for Twilight and that’s what he’d decided to do. He sat up and tried his best to push his feelings aside, not wanting to be bothered by them anymore. “So are you going to that pop-up market on Sunday, Applejack?” Flash asked, trying to start up a conversation. “Of course ah am, it’s very important our apples sell.” Applejack replied. “I’m sure you’ll get a lot of business.” Timber said. “Ah hope so!” Applejack smiled happily. “Uh-oh, we have to leave, we promised Rainbow Dash we’d listen to her new guitar solo. She’ll be really mad if we miss it.” Twilight said, standing up. “Bah, I guess.” Applejack replied. The girls waved and made their way out of the shop, leaving Flash and Timber once again alone. They stared down at their empty glasses before looking around and saw other students getting up and going. It wasn’t soon before the shop was almost empty with only Flash, Timber, Mrs Cake and a few other people around. “I’m guessing school starts soon.” Timber said. “In around half an hour, people like to get there early.” Flash gazed at the almost empty room. “Do you want to get going?” Timber asked. “Yeah, I’ll walk you back to the bus stop and then head to school.” Flash said. The two guys stood up, they thanked Mrs Cake before exiting the Sweet Shoppe and heading back onto the street. While Timber tied his shoelaces, Flash leaned against a nearby lamppost for a second, however he felt his jacket getting hotter, he moved away from it. After the short break they continued down the street and they had temporarily resumed the topic of school. After a few minutes of talking about stuff they eventually stopped at the bus stop, ready to say their goodbyes. They both couldn’t deny that this morning had been sort of fun and although they had been interrupted for a short while, they did have a great time. Now Flash was certain that they were friends and that Timber would be a great friend to have, however he did want confirmation. “Thanks for the shake.” Flash said. “No problem, I was actually wondering if you wanted to come to Camp Everfree this weekend, I’ve planned to go on a hike and I could use some company.” Timber checked to see if his bus was coming. “Yeah sure, the exercise would do me good.” Flash replied. “I was wondering, are we friends now?” “I guess so, unless you don’t want to be my friend.” Timber responded. “Well I guess we’re officially friends then. Message me the details of next weekend later!” Flash saw that the bus was coming. “Yeah, I will do!” Timber said, smiling. Flash watched Timber board the bus, it then drove away from the stop. Flash made his way to school, however he was met by Sunset at the statue, who had been waiting for his arrival. She waved and motioned for Flash to come over, which he did wondering why Sunset was so eager to see him this morning. “I’m surprised!” She said. “At what?” Flash was confused. “Well apparently, you and Timber Spruce were at the diner, being nice and civil to each other.” Sunset answered. “Oh yeah, me and Timber are now friends. I’ve decided that I want to let go of my feelings of Twilight” Flash replied. “Well that’s a wise decision” Sunset smiled at Flash. “Now let’s go do work.” Although Flash wished that he didn’t have to work, he didn’t really mind today as he was looking forward to leaving his feelings for Twilight go, he was intrigued on how his newfound friendship would turn out. He followed Sunset inside of the school, now eager to see what the future would hold for him. > Chapter 3, Moonpenny Peak > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 3, Moonpenny Peak Flash had awoken early and he’d immediately prepared to go to Camp Everfree, as Timber had told him via text message that they’d have to start hiking early. He was certainly not ready for a hike, however he’d made a promise, he knew that promises should never be broken, even if he did want to sleep some more.   Timber was nowhere to be seen though. Flash stood waiting at the docks of the lake looking out at the beauty before him. He glanced behind him at the spot where Sunset had first told him that he should get over Twilight, smiling to himself because he was finally getting over her. Flash heard the birds chirping cheerfully in the trees the tranquillity that was all around him made him feel cheerful . The temperature was mild, the temperature would be good to walk in. Timber came out of a shed, seeing that Flash was by the docks, he grinned as he hadn’t been sure that Flash would come so early in the morning. He walked towards the docks, when he arrived he stood next to Flash, making his friend aware that he was there.    The two were side by side, staring at the lake before them, taking in all of their surroundings, they were enjoying the peacefulness. “It’s a really nice day.” Flash turned to look at Timber. “Yeah, it’s really nice to see everything like this,” Timber said. “So I was thinking that we could go to Moonpenny Peak. It has a really nice view, but it is quite a long walk, are you ok with that?” “I don’t mind.” Flash responded. “Right then, let me grab my bag from the cabin and we can then start.” Timber ran slowly towards the cabin.   Flash waited for Timber’s return, once again gazing at the lake before him however his attention soon turned to something that was tapping his legs. He glanced down at the floor, he saw a white duck that was now waddling around him in circles. The duck stared at Flash, he decided to pick the duck up into his arms, the duck surprisingly allowing him to. The duck seemed to enjoy being in Flash’s arms and it constantly made noises, it was as if the duck was trying to talk to him, this made Flash laugh as the duck somehow made him feel happier. Flash glanced at the duck with concern, he noticed a small hole that went through the duck’s left wing. He looked closely at the wing, it seemed like it had been treated but he felt sorry for the duck as it would have been painful before it had healed. “I see you’ve found Trumpet, he’s such a nice duck.” Timber pointed out as he returned. “What happened to him?” Flash stroked the duck. “It was last year, we found him right by the lake, his wing had a bullet in it. We took him to the vets immediately and they managed to help him. He’s been here ever since.” Timber explained. “Wow that’s such a bad experience for him, and you helped save him. Flash said. Timber smiled at Flash. “Are you ready to start?” “As ready as I’ll ever be!” He replied. Timber walked in front, Flash followed closely behind, constantly glancing around at his surroundings, mostly at the back of Timber. They walked in what seemed like a straight line across the camp until they approached an opening in the trees which was the trail that they were going to follow on their hike. Both of them began walking quietly through the trail that went for miles, both of them kept an eye out for any animals that may come across their path. The sun shone through the trees, it was bright however it was bearable as the trees served as a good barrier for their eyes except from the very few gaps. Timber smiled as he looked around, he wanted to be more normal but no matter what happened, he would always love the nature. Flash glanced around at the trees, the sights made him feel more connected to the world that was around him. “So I’m guessing you do this often?” Flash stared at the back of Timber’s beautiful green hair as he continued to walk. “Every now and again, it never gets old though.” Timber replied. The two reached a point in the path that split up into two sections, which headed left and right. Timber led them to the path that was on the right, which made Flash aware that his friend knew where he was going. As they continued down the path they soon found themselves striding alongside a wide river that had a fast current. Timber stopped, he strangely placed his hand in the river, Flash stared at him curiously as he wondered what he was doing. “The water’s running at a nice pace,” Timber said. “It’s very calming.” “That’s interesting.” Flash put his hand in the water and understood what Timber meant. The two stopped there for a short while, before they once again resumed their journey through the forest. It wasn’t as quiet as it had been a few minutes ago, more animals had been awaking and going about their business as normal and were moving around quite a bit. Timber looked directly ahead, constantly fearing that he’d lose the path, it was the fear that he always had while going out into the woods, however he’d never actually lost his way. Flash stopped momentarily and glanced up at the sky where rain clouds had gathered above their heads, rain drops began to fall from them. Timber soon realised that Flash was looking up however at that point it was starting to rain more heavily than before, soon enough it was pouring down. The guys desperately wanted cover from the surprising shower of rain that they were caught in. “Do you know where there’s shelter?” Flash asked. “Not nearby, we’ll just have to continue and hope that the rain will stop soon.” Timber began walking in a slightly faster pace. Flash followed Timber closely, hoping that the rain would soon stop and the sun would dry his now wet hair, he wished that he’d been sensible and brought a coat with him. As they continued walking through the forest, a mountain soon came into sight, that mountain was Moonpenny Peak, the location that they were going to. The rain continued to pour down except the two guys were slowly getting used to the rain, even though it was annoying. “It’s so beautiful!” Flash said. “Trust me, it’s much more beautiful when the sun is out and shining.” Timber responded. They both looked up at the mountaintop for a minute, they then realised that the rain was started to come down less, which they were thankful for. With every step they took the mountain appeared to look smaller than Flash had originally thought it would be, it was still rather large though. Flash was beginning to get tired as they'd been walking for over an hour, this didn't go unnoticed by Timber. “Hey do you want to take a break for a moment?” Timber stopped in his tracks. “I wouldn't mind if you did.” “Well, I guess taking a small break wouldn't be harmful.” Flash replied. Flash sat down against a large tree, Timber sat down nearby, the two stared at each other briefly before looking away again. Timber stared down at the ground, waiting for Flash to say that he was ready to begin walking to the peak once again. Flash rested, he gazed directly at Timber who didn’t know that he was being looked at, as Flash’s eyes were resting on Timber briefly felt a rush of warmth going through his body before he looked away. “I’m alright now.” Flash pulled himself off the ground. “You sure?” “Yeah, of course.” “It was a very short break, I’m ok if you want to stay a little while longer.” “It’s alright, I’m ok now.” “Alright then.” Timber immediately stood up, he placed his bag on his back, he resumed walking, with Flash following closely behind. The two shortly arrived at a huge beautiful clearing, they were now minutes away from the foot of Moonpenny Peak. Flash and Timber walked side by side across a field of pretty flowers, they’d slowed down a bit to marvel at the spectacular scene that was all around them. Flash could see a flock of doves flying high in the sky, a lone rabbit hopping around the field, there was also two squirrels scurrying towards the forest. The rain had officially stopped, the sun was once more out and shining much to the two’s delight, they momentarily stood and gazed up at the sky before resuming their trek. It was a few minutes before they reached the foot of the mountain, just as Flash had hoped there was a path that went up the peak, however it looked very hard to walk along. “Well we’re here.” Timber pointed out. “Now we just have to get up there and you’ll see the awesome view.” “Sounds great.” Flash went ahead for once, hoping that it wouldn’t be easier to walk along than it appeared to be.  Timber walked closely behind Flash, who was very eager to get to the top of the mountain and see the beauty that Timber had previously mentioned. Flash was walking faster by the second however he stopped in his tracks when he came across a dead-end where the path suddenly stopped. He was confused as he was halfway up the mountain, the view was not as good as Timber had said. “You ready to climb?” Timber asked. “Climb!” Flash said, surprised. Timber pointed at a ledge that was above them. “Yeah we need to climb up to get to that and then we’ll be at the good spot.” “It looks hard.” Flash responded. “It’s not, trust me, it’s a tiny climb and I’ll be right beneath you so don’t be scared.” Timber’s charming smile put Flash at ease. Flash felt unsafe, however he started off by putting his right foot into a gap in the wall, he pulled himself up before putting his left foot in a different gap. Timber stood there making sure that Flash was steady and ready to climb, as soon as Timber said that he was ready climb, Flash immediately did so. He continued to look straight up, scared that he’d fall if he’d glance below and see the ground which was really far down however he felt slightly safer knowing that Timber was making sure he was okay. Timber followed Flash, he kept assuring his friend that he’d be fine and that it was only a small climb however it didn’t appear to be helping Flash relax. Flash was soon at the ledge which he pulled himself up on, he sighed in relief, he was glad that he’d managed to safely climb up to the ledge. Timber soon arrived on the edge, he once more took the lead around the corner where there was a massive clear space. Flash gazed at the jaw dropping sight that was before him, there were hundreds of trees, big animals who looked tiny and there was much more. He was extremely happy that Timber had taken him here as he felt as if he never wanted to leave, he wanted to stare out at the vision before him for hours. Timber looked at Flash and grinned, he was happy that he could share this place with someone who appreciated the scenery as much as he did. “Wow this is amazing!” Flash continued to glance around at his surroundings. “I know, I just love it here. It’s a cool place to hang” Timber responded. “I appreciate that you brought me here.” Flash said. “It’s no problem.” Timber gazed out at the scenery. The two were there for what seemed like hours, they sat in silence, they didn’t get bored of looking out before them. The guys eventually got up and started on the long trip back home leaving Moonpenny Peak behind, although the two knew how pretty it was and were sort of upset to leave it.
