White Gem's mark
A peaceful and sunny day in the Friendship Castle. Princess Twilight Sparkle and her faithful assistant Spike are in the library into their usual reading and stuff, until Spike starts to belch flames as the letter appeared. He reads the letter to Twilight that her former mentor Celestia will be visiting. And so Twilight and Spike are beginning preparations for the coming of the Sun Princess (even though Spike has to remind Twilight they don't have to make the place too clean sometimes). Twilight and Celestia sat down in the Cutie Map room having a nice conversation while Spike is in the kitchen making tea.
"Once again Celestia I'm happy that you come over to visit, though I'm kinda surprised from what I heard from your letter so sudden" said the lavender alicorn.
"I'm glad to hear Twilight, since there's been not much paperwork for me back in Canterlot today I might as well use the spare time to come have a nice chat with the successful and former student of mine. So how is your pupil Starlight, I haven't seen her around since I arrived here?" said the white alicorn.
"Oh she's doing quite alright, she went back to her home village to help Thorax sorting out new homes for some of his changling subjects."
"I see, I always wonder how her and the changling Prince became close since the defeat of Chrysalis."
"Well they have been good friends with me and Spike after all, sometimes I get envious for him doing a better friendship job than I would of..." she said starting to look down on the cutie map table, feeling a little disappointed...
"My dear Twilight there is nothing to be envious of your faithful assistant. He has been learning a lot with you during your travels together, even he would not achieve the impossible without your advises."
She looks up smiling to Celestia again "Yes your right, I keep forgetting this is the Dragon we knew since I hatched him back in my exam days we're talking about here. Despite his annoyance and a little rudeness most of the time, he has always stood by my side even if I felt the grief and sadness."
"Your highness's, the tea is ready." said the Dragon who came in with the tray carrying the pot and three tea cups.
"Ah Spike just in time, we were talking about how Starlight and Thorax were doing in... well before that I should of notice on how have you been growing until now." said the white alicorn as she's looking at how Spike is getting a little taller since his growth spurt, close to Twilight's height.
"I'm grateful the greed hasn't got to him since then. If he's lucky maybe Rarity would finally notice our gentledrake." said Twilight as Spike poured teas to give to her and Celestia then for himself.
"It was only a simple crush I had when I was a little Twi. I just wasn't realizing how much of a great and generous friend she was to us back then. From now on I'm not letting love and romance interrupt me from doing my duties as your trustful and number one assistant." as the proud drake have said who then sit down with them. When Twilight heard the news she now felt a worried what Spike would want to do now since he now give up chasing Rarity?
"Oh Spike... It's great to hear you say that... but I can't let you this to yourself... eventually you might want to find a purpose in life than just be my faithful and personal helper." said the lavender alicorn
"It's ok Twi I'll be alright, guess I just need to wait until I find my special somepony someday..." as the drake looking at his tea cup.
Celestia starts to notice the atmosphere getting low with their conversation. "Of course I almost forgot. Twilight, Spike, there's something you might like to see." As she got their attention she used her magic to poof out small chest into her hands. She opens the chest to reveal a shiny circle-shaped gem with a string attached to it. They are amazed to see as it's color is as white as snow.
"Wow Celestia, It's...... It's beautiful. " said the lavender alicorn looking at it.
"Of all the gems I saw and mostly eaten, this one's greatly different from what I've seen. Where did you get that?" said the drake looking back to her.
"It was a gift from a dearest friend of mine years ago. This was the last time I ever saw him before our goodbyes. Every time I look at this has me wondering how is he doing to this day......"
"Guess it really has been long time. Mind if I see it for a moment? Not that I want to get a bite of that." said the drake.
Celestia giggled and said "By all means Spike I'll allow it." then handed the pendant to him. Twilight and Spike keeps looking at it of how such an object as dazzling as this was made. For a brief moment Spike realized something "Oh crap! I don't know if the stove was off! Excuse me." He place the pendant down and got up... however the cutie map starts to glow, even the white gem itself... The rest all stood up and looked confused to what's happening to the map. The map shows to reveal to them... Tartarus... "Uuuhhh mares? Is the map supposed to do tha-" then a flash of light coming from the table. Blinded Twilight and Celestia for a brief moment then they open their eyes, Spike is nowhere to be seen and the map return to normal. ".............Spike? " said the lavender alicorn still looking around.
The flashing light teleported Spike to the darkest caverns under Tartarus itself. Landed flat on the ground he then got up hoping to find a way outa here. Sounds of crawling is coming from one of the tunnels as he starts shivering who knows what it is. Then... he stops to slowly turn around and see...... a big spider like monster that appeared from behind. The monster roars a loud screech that made Spike fell on his butt, immobilized by the fear of it's predatory stare. This may be the end he had thought...... however, another sound is coming from one of the tunnels. Step by step a light blueish drake with white spikes, curved horns pointing behind and yellow eyes, in a leather outfit and coat with an armor chest covering, has arrived. Spike couldn't believe to see an adult dragon as tall as Celestia would come here let alone why would a dragon like him be doing in Tartarus? The monster starts charging towards Spike and the other drake however the other drake breaths in and breaths out a blast of icicle energy, stopping it in place and freezing it whole. With one firm fist he punched the frozen monster, causing it to crack then collapse into smithereens. All this amazement has made Spike quiet for a moment as the other drake turn around and speak to him. "Now how did a young drake like you be doing here in the caverns under Tartarus?" he said that made Spike shocked to here as he got up.
"What? I didn't know there was an underground cave, then again if Celestia has she would of told us more about it..." the ice drake is surprised to hear that name once again and spoke up "Wait... you knew Celestia?"
"Yeah the Sun princess and current ruler of Canterlot and Equestria, ever since I was hatched by her personal pupil Twilight Sparkle who became the next pony princess of Ponyville."
"Hmmm... interesting, I would like to stand here and listen more but let's have this conversation while we're moving, walk with me." said the ice drake as Spike followed him through the tunnel path where that monster was in the way. During their walk Spike was telling the ice drake the adventures he and the mane six have been traveling together, from the rising darkness of Nightmare Moon to the second invasion by Queen Chrysalis. Once they reach the end of the tunnel way Spike told him how ended up here. "When I put Celestia's pendant down that's when the map table starts glowing of a sudden, revealing the map of Tartarus and... here I am" the ice drake paused for a moment when he mention the pendant Celestia holds. 'so she still kept it all this time...' the ice drake had thought then he starts to realize something "Ah, there it is" said the ice drake as Spike look forward to see nothing but a dead end, "uuhhh where are we?" The ice drake steps forward to the dead end, using his full strength he raise his fists and smash the wall down, revealing a stone corridor with torches lit on the walls. They've entered the middle of the corridor as Spike looked left and right wondering what is this place? The ice drake went left as Spike followed and spoke "Uummm as much as I don't wanna bother asking but, how long till we find what you... were... looking for..." he stop to look forward to see a massive chamber with statues of dragons dressed in armor all around and in the the center, a magnificent sword placed on the pedestal. "Wha... what is this?" he said to the ice drake.
"This my friend, is the tomb of the Dragon Kings."
"Dragon King?!?!" as he look again at the dragon statues "Are you saying they are-"
"Yes, once every thousands years the Dragon Lords have waited for the next chosen to ascend the title and lead our kind. We have always been a powerful race, at least until this thousand years ago they have come..."
"Who? Who came?"
He look at the young drake and said ".......... the Pony Goddess Faust and her Equins. She is the mightiest being who's beauty knows no bounds, of course her people and their lands are also beautiful. Their magic, their knowledge, their power that has now rivaled our own. We were too foolish to ever go to war against the ponies of Equestria or we would end up burning the whole world into ashes, even the Goddess herself has agreed to this possible outcome. And so the peace agreement was made between the Dragon King before and the Goddess. When the Goddess had vanished from this world she left behind her daughters, the princesses of Sun and Moon to rule the lands of Equestria and making sure the treaty between dragons and ponies still holds."
"...... amazing, but if knew about this tomb then why would it be under Tartarus?"
"Because of that" said the ice drake pointing the sword on the pedestal "that blade has the power to shape into any kind of weapon the wielder desires and it is also the crown to the chosen Dragon King. There is also... a rumor saying something maybe alive in that blade. It's why we have hidden it to the one place so dangerous no creature would ever want to step foot there." then they both walked to the pedestal to take a closer look at it. However Spike starts to realize something "Well that still doesn't explain why we entered midway and not some kind of entrance leading here?"
"The guards of this tomb only allow entry if all of the Dragon Lords are present, besides I don't have much time to gain permission with them."
"What do you mean don't have much time?" said the young drake as the ice drake looked at him again.
"An evil threat is coming, not just the lands of Equestria but possibly the whole world itself will be bound to their might. Even if we cannot find our next Dragon King I for one will not stand around to watch those horned slaving bastards tarnish that beautiful land and it's people!" Spike was shocked and afraid to hear that something far worse would be coming to invade Equestria. Perhaps something for worse even the Elements of Harmony, Royal sisters or the Crystal Empire couldn't go up against. "If there really is an evil force coming for us all then we have a reason to use this sword!" with a motivational act "huh? Wait! Don't!" before the ice drake could stop him he unexpectedly pull the sword out from the pedestal. He then became immobilized, like everything has flash before his very eyes. The ice drake knew only the chosen Dragon King would able to wield the powerful blade, yet he would never expect a young drake like him would pull it out. What if? Is it possible? Then How? Before he tries to figure out the answer he should at least see if he's still conscious in there. Then, all of a sudden he drop the sword, fell to the ground and passed out. "*gasp* young drake! What happened! Please wake up!" as he tried shaking him, but no response. Just before the ice drake could do anything else, he sensed a magical presence coming from the ground where young drake lays and stepped back a little. A yellow flash appeared as the ice drake covered his eyes for moment then open up to see, the young drake had vanished leaving the sword behind. 'looks like she had came to get you, a pity I won't have a chance to find the answer. Well, as long as she holds the gift back then she'll know how to summon me, I hope... We will soon meet again my young friend.' thought the ice drake as he picks up the sword and left the tomb through the hole they came in. Meanwhile back in the Friendship Castle, through the successful spell by Twilight and Celestia they brought Spike back from Tartarus. Happily they are to see him waking up they've tried asking him what has happened over there, but the last thing he only remembered was that everything went dark when they got him back and no memory of the ice drake or the tomb hidden under Tartarus. Celestia who now wondered how'd this happen and why did the pendant pointed the way to Tartarus? So she left the pendant with Twilight and promised her and Spike to keep this mystery between the white gem and Tartarus a secret for now. Few years later, Equestria's worst nightmare, has arrived..........
