> Adventures in the human world > by Dark Nightshade > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Chapter 1 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- As the girls and Spike tumbled out of the other side of the portal, they heard several gasps. They looked up to see Sunset Shimmer and the rest of her friends. Twill Weave was unconscious. "Candy Burn?" Sunset Shimmer said. "What's happening?" Candy Burn sniffled. "Something happened," she said. "Twilight and the others......their gone." Sunset Shimmer gasped. "All of them?" she asked. Candy Burn nodded. "How?" "Someone somehow managed to extract their souls," Candy Burn said. "I don't know the full details, but Celestia and Luna are going to find him and make him pay." Sunset Shimmer nodded. "Good," she said. "But until then, where are you going to stay?" Taissy shrugged. "Mom had made a plan if or when something like this happened," she said. "We would either go to your house, or the human versions of Celestia and Luna's house." "Oh," Sunset Shimmer said. "I'm sorry, but I'm really able to house you......five? Who's the new girl?" Everyone looked at Twill Weave. She was wearing a purple turtle neck, with a pair of blue shorts. Strangely, her normally white skin was now purple as well. "That's Twill Weave," Floriba said. "She's the one who alerted us to the villain. She was, right?" Taissy and Candy Burn nodded. "Yeah, that lantern in her hair, you can't really see it at the moment, allows her to see into the spirit realm," Spike said. "It's pretty cool." Fluttershy snickered. Spike looked up at her. "Yes?" he asked. "Is it because I'm a dog, isn't it?" Fluttershy blushed. "I'm sorry," she said. "I know that this is a serious moment, but your so cute!" She scopped him up and started scratching him under his chin. "Hey!" Spike exclaimed. But after a few seconds, he started panting. "Oh, that's the spot." "So, where is Celestia's and Luna's castle?" Tassiy asked. Now it was Sunset Shimmer's turn to snicker. "I'm sorry," she said. "But people don't really live in castles anymore. They do have a kinda big house, though. I'll show you the way, and help you explain things. Now, let's wake up Twill Weave." Celestia massaged her head with her fingers as Twill Weave also check out her new body. "And you were brought to life with a spell?" she asked. "Yes," Candy Burn said. "And your world is in danger?" Celestia said. "And you need to stay here until it's safe to return?" Taissy nodded. "Your world is full of dangers, isn't it?" Celestia said. "Yes," Taissy said. "Now, can we stay here?" Celestia sighed. "Yes," she said. The girls cheered as Candy Burn and Taissy hugged. Luna had been silent the entire time, but she finally spoke up. "Celestia, you seem to be a little....off," she said. Celestia looked at her and raised an eyebrow. "We have guests that are made of previously inanimate objects," she said. "That's kind off-putting. But I am sorry if you girls thought I was being rude." Candy Burn shrugged. "No, I get it," she said. "You didn't even know that inanimate objects could be brought to life. Besides, there's this dude named Blueblood. He's a jerk." Taissy groned. "Uh, Blueblood," she said. "Yeah, I'm not sure anyone actually likes him." "I think his human counterpart goes to Crystal Prep," Luna said. "That's not the one you four will be going to," Celestia said. "Ok, that's good," Floriba said. "Now," Celestia said with a smile. "Firstly, tell me about yourselves and what you were before the spell. Secondly, Candy Burn, do you cook?" That night, Sunset Shimmer decided to drop by Celestia's house to check up on the kids. As she knocked on the door, she heard laghter. Then Twill Weave opened the door. "Hello!" she said. "Come on in! We have cake!" As she followed Twill Weave entered with the promise of cake, she heard laughter again. "And then he realized that Twilight, Celestia and Luna were standing right behind him!" Taissy said before laughing again. Celestia was holding her stomach and Luna had tears coming down her face. "Hi Sunset!" Floriba said through laughs. Celestia looked up smiled. "Hello," she said. "Are you checking up on the girls?" Sunset nodded. "Yeah, I wanted to make sure everything was going ok," she said. "I was also told that there was cake?" Celestia nodded, "There was cake," she said. "Candy Burn made some." Luna frowned. "Yeah, then you ate, like, half of it," she said. Celestia lightly blushed. "Yeah, your appetite for cake is the same in this universe," Candy Burn said. "I have made a few cakes for Princess Celestia, and she seemed to really like it." "Well, you're a candy corn," Luna said. "One can assume that because of that, you are better then most at make sweets." "Yeah, that seems to be true," Candy Burn said. "So, Sunset, you want me to make you something?" Sunset shook her head. "No, I just wanted to check up on you five," she said. "Actually, where's Spike?" "He's upstairs, trying to sleep," Floriba said. Sunset Shimmer snickered. "Really?" she asked. "That sounds like Spike. Also, since tomorrow's a Saterday, Rarity has been preparing to meet with each of you to make some clothes." Celestia nodded. "Ah, of course," she said. "Clothes. I forgot, the portal only gives you the one pair." Floriba yawned. "I'm sorry," she said. "You know, sleep sounds like a good idea." Celestia looked at the clock. "It's not even 9 yet," she said. "I know," Floriba said. "But remember, I was raised by Rarity. I was taught to get my beauty sleep. Unless, of course, something that needed my attention was present, or if somepony needed help or anything like that." "Well, good night!" Candy Burn said. > Chapter 2 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Celestia woke up the the smell of pancakes. She opened her eyes, yawned and stretched. Pancakes? she thought. I like these girls. She rolled out of bed, and sniffed the air again. Chocolate chip pancakes? she thought. Oh, nice! She hurried down the stairs, and was greeted with a hug by Luna. "I was about to wake you," Luna said. "Before you go into the kitchen, let me just say that these girls are awesome!" "I could smell the pancakes from upstairs!" Celestia said. "And they're chocolate chip!" Luna said with a grin. Celestia's stomach rumbled and Luna snickered. "Go eat. There good." Celestia entered the kitchen. "Hello!" the girls (and Spike) coursed. There was a giant pile of chocolate chip and blueberry pancakes. "Hello!" Celestia said. "Those look delicious." Candy Burn smiled. "Thank you!" she said. "Feel free to eat. The syrup is over there." Candy Burn pointed at the opposite counter, at a blue pitcher-like thing. Celestia grabbed a plat, put a few pancakes on it, and started pouring the syrup on it. She took a bit and sighed. "This is amazing," she said after she swallowed. "By the way, when's Sunset Shimmer getting here?" As if on cue, the doorbell rang. "I'll get it!" Twill Weave said. She left the kitchen, and the sound of an opening door could be heard. "Hello!" they could hear Sunset Shimmer said. "Hi!" Twill Weave said. "Come in!" When Twill Weave reappeared with Sunset Shimmer, after the hellos were said, Taissy looked at Celestia. "You know where Rarity's boutique is, right?" she asked. Celestia nodded. "I'm guessing it's safe to assume that you girls will be gone for most of the day?" Luna suddenly said from behind Sunset Shimmer. Sunset Shimmer jumped and let out a small yelp. "Sorry, I didn't know you were up," Sunset Shimmer said. "But yes, knowing Rarity, most of the day." "Well, you can't rush perfection," Floriba said. "That's probably true," Sunset Shimmer said. "Now, we should probably get going." "And why are these bras important again?" Twill Weave asked. Rarity sighed. "Mainly, it helps to stop boys from looking at your breasts," Rarity said. "But they help support your breasts as well. And if you don't mind me saying, with your size, and this means you 3 as well, with your breasts sizes you need the support." "Yes, they are very intresting," Taissy said. "It's way different in Equestria. There, they're closer to your crotch, and boys don't try and look at them." Rarity blushed. "Yes, sounds much more comfortable than here," she said. She turned to Twill Weave. "And do you mind coming over tomorrow?" Twill Weave snickered. "Let me guess, you want to study my skin, and ask questions about how my skin works?" she asked. Rarity blinked. "Yes, actually," she said. "How did you know?" Twill Weave let out a small laugh. "Your Equestrian counterpart asked the same thing!" she said. "And I don't mind doing it. Me and Mom weren't really able to check it all out, unfortunately." Twill Weave, her sisters and Floriba all got sad looks on their faces and looked down. Rarity sighed. "Hey, it's going to be ok," she said. "Considering what this worlds Luna and Celestia are like, thinking of what the're like with magic, both of them are are probably really powerful." "Well, they control the sun and moon," Taissy said. Rarity's eyes widened and she gasped. "The sun and moon?" she asked. "They control them? What kind of unicorns are they?" "They aren't unicrons," Twill Weave said. "They're alicorns. They have both horns and wings, and their super powerful." "Ok, but the sun and moon?" Rarity said. "Please," Floriba said. "Mom is the Princess of Friendship, and Cadence is the Princess of Love. Cadence can sense love, and to an extent, control it. I don't know if Mom can do anything like that, but it's still cool." "Wow," Rarity said. "Cadence is a princess?" "Yep," Candy Burn said. "And ruler of the Crystal Empire." "That sounds very impressive," Rarity said. "Is that like the Crystal Prep school?" "I think so," Candy Burn said. "Now, these clothes are going to take a while, right?" Rarity glanced at the measurements she had taken of the girls, and nodded, retuning her gaze to Candy Burn. "Probably the rest of the afternoon," she said. "Honestly, I thought that the measurements would take longer than it did, but you girls were surprisingly ok with taking your clothes off. The girls shrugged. "Well we don't really wear clothes in Equestria," Taissy said. "We can wear clothes, we just don't wear them all the time." Rarity nodded understandingly. "Ok. Well then," she said. "In that case, I should get started on the clothes. You 4 can go back to Celestia's and Luna's. You remember the way, right?" > Getting school ready > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The rest of Saturday afternoon went by pretty fast, with Candy Burn making some more food for dinner and the girls just otherwise getting to know Celestia and Luna, and them learning about things of the human world. Floriba took an interest in the botany and garden in their backyard, Twill Weave took an interest in the mythology and spirits, Candy Burn took an interest in cooking and (strangly) video games, and Taissy took and interest in coding and machines. As they were eating dinner, they talked. Spike was already asleep. "So, are you 4 ready?" Celestia asked. "Yeah," Floriba said. "Definitely," Taissy said. "Kinda," Candy Burn said. "I guess," Twill Weave said. "You nervous?" Luna asked. Candy Burn and Twill Weave nodded. "I haven't been alive for too long," Twill Weave said. "There's supposed to be a lot of people there, right?" "Ah, don't worry," Celestia said. "Yes, there are a lot of people, but the classes themselves are nice." "How many people in each?" Candy Burn asked. "The smallest class has 12 students in it, and the largest has 20," Luna said. "Don't worry, you can hang out with Sunset Shimmer and her friends." "Yeah, that's true," Floriba said. "Although I suppose it'd be kind of awkward at parts. After all, we are their children from a parallel universe." "Yeah, but that's kind of cool, too," Luna said. "A parallel universe. What's it like over there?" "Well, like we mentioned earlier, you two are the rulers of Equestria," Taissy said. "You're both alicorns, and friends with Twilight and the other princess, Cadence." "Alicorns were the one's with both wings and a horn?" Celestia asked. "Yeah," Floriba said. "And Cadence is a princess too?" Luna asked. When Twill Weave nodded, Luna asked "What is she the ruler of?" "She's the Princess of Love," Candy Burn said. "Must be exiting, being able to use magic," Luna said. "And being able to fly." "It is rather exiting," Taissy said. "Are you able to time travel?" Celestia said. "It's been done before, it's just really hard to and might be illegal," Candy Burn said. "The only time I know that it was used, it was used to almost destroy Equestria." "Do I want to ask about that?" Luna asked. "Not really," Floriba said. She yawned and checked the clock. "I'm sorry, I'm getting tiered already." Celestia glanced at the clock too. "Yeah, you should probably go to sleep soon," she said. "It's a school night, and you're going to want to get up early-ish." "Yeah, we'll need schedules and whatnot," Twill Weave. "We have backpacks and notebooks and whatnot, right?" Luna nodded. "Those are important," she said. "Anyway, I'm turning in." As she stood up, Candy Burn nodded. "That's a good idea," she said. As the other girls agreed and got up, Celestia smiled. How were we so fortunate to meet these 4? she wondered as she followed them upstairs. > First day of school > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next day Candy Burn woke up early. She git dressed in some of the clothes Rarity had made for her, went down stairs, reheated some pancakes and syrup, started a pot of coffee and sat down and ate. Spike walked in a minute later. "Hello," he said. "Hey," Candy Burn said. "By the way, I was meaning to ask you, what are your plans for today?" Spike shrugged. "I don't know," he said. "You girls have school for the week, and it would be weird for the students to see a talking dog." Candy Burn shrugged. "I think you're forgetting us," she said. "I'm candy corn, Twill Weave is a piece of cloth, Taissy is a rifle and Floriba is a rose." "Good point," Spike said. "Still, that might weird people out a little too much." Candy Burn was about to respond when Celestia shuffled in. "Hi," she said. "You've already made coffee? Nice." As Celestia poured a cup of coffee, Luna and Taissy walked in. "So, you two ready for today?" Luna asked. Candy Burn and Taissy nodded. "Good. Now, we have your schedules for the next semester, which is also the last. You do have a few classes together, but not many." Candy Burn nodded. "Almost summer. Forgot about that. That's good," she said. "Can we have the schedules?" Celestia nodded. "Let me go get them," she said. As she exited the room, Twill Weave entered the room. "Hey," she said. "Are you two ready?" Candy Burn and Taissy nodded. Celestia and Floriba walked into the room "Hi, everyone!" Floriba said. "Everyone's dressed. Good." Candy Burn nodded. "Of course. The first day of school in a parallel universe," she said. "This is going to be interesting." "Yeah, eat up," Celestia said. "School starts at 8, and the ride there is about 7 minutes, and we need to be there early." 30 minutes later, they piled out of the small van that Luna and Celestia had rented. "Nice building," Floriba commented. "It is rather nice," Luna said. "Anyway, let's go get you 4 set up!" They walked through the school, showing the girls what was where, and who taught what class, and meeting a few of the teachers. The girls recognized a lot of the teachers from Equestria and Ponyville, but there were a few they didn't recognize. Then there was home room, which, fortunately, had most of the human Elements of Harmony bearers. Pinkie was the only one that wasn't there, but Celestia had said that Pinkie was in their home room. As the girls sat down, Rarity smiled. "Do you like it?" she asked. "Like what?" Taissy asked. "The clothes," Rarity said. "Oh, their good," Candy Burn said. "Nice and comfortable. These bra things are interesting." Rainbow Dash snickered. "Not to mention large," she said. "You really do follow after Fluttershy." "Um, thanks?" Candy Burn said, slightly confused. "Anyway, what do you do for fun here?" "We play music," Applejack said. "Ah'm a base player." "Cool," Floriba said. "What about you, Rarity?" "I play the keitar," Rarity replied. "It's like a combination of a guitar and and a piano." "Got to keep it classy," Floriba said. Then the bell rang and Cheerilee stood up. "Ok, class!" she said. "We don't often get news like this so close to summer, but we ha e some new students!" The entire class looked back at Candy Burn, Twill Weave, Taissy and Floriba. Candy Burn tried to hide behind her hair, and Twill Weave shrunk down. "Do you mind telling us a little about yourselves?" Cheerilee asked. Taissy stood up. "Well, me and my sisters are from Equestria," she said. Most of the students started murmuring amongst themselves. "And we were brought to life with an animation spell." "Is that why she has a lantern in her hair?" a yellow guy with dreadlocks asked, pointing at Twill Weave. "Yes," she said. "It helps me see across the veil." "The what?" a guy with blue hair and lighter blue skin asked. "Come on, really?" The first guy said. "The veil. The barrier to the other side!" "You can see dead people?" a blue girl asked. "Hear, really, but yes," Twill Weave said. "My name is Twill Weave, by the way. My sisters here are Taissy, Candy Burn and Floriba." "Who are your parents?" a yellow skinned blue haired guy asked. "My parents are Rarity and Applejack, and their parents are Twilight and Fluttershy," Floriba said. "The Equestria ones," Rarity said. "Yes, the Equestria ones," Taissy said. "So what's wrong now?" the blue skinned girl asked. "The Sirens aren't returning, are they?" "No. That's not important," Twill Weave said. "But the Sirens aren't returning." "Anyway, class, all homework assignments must be turned in at least a week before school ends, otherwise you won't get a grade," Cheerilee said. "Fortunately for you, there won't be that many assignments this semester." The class cheered. "But they will be harder than previous assignments." Then the ball rang, signaling the passing period. The next few classes, Home Economics and Science were both very intresting, with kids (and the teachers) asking the girls about how they were alive and differences that they might have from normally born kids. When lunch rolled around, they had been asked so many questions, and still being asked them, it was hard to focus on the lunch. But the rest of the day was going to be different, since the girls didn't have any classes together. And that is where friends were made. > End of first day of school: Candy Burn > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- As Candy Burn entered her first afternoon class, and the first one without her sisters and friends, she could feel people stare at her. "So you must be the one of the new students?" the teacher asked. "Yes," Candy Burn said. "You're Mr. Roboto?" The teacher nodded. "Yes, I am he," he said. "We have an open seat next to Micro Chips, if you don't mind siting down." Candy Burn nodded and walked towards the desk. Micro Chips starred at her curiously. "You're one of the girls from Equestria, right?" he asked. Candy Burn nodded. "You were brought to life with magic?" "An animation spell," Candy Burn said. "You want to know how it works, don't you?" Micro Chips nodded. But then Mr. Roboto started talking. "In movies and games and whatnot these days," he started. "There are Artificial Intelligences, or AI for short. The programming skills haven't quite yet been uncovered to make one....until now!" He pressed a button and the projector turned on, putting a speech line on the wall. "Did you actually program an AI, or is this just one of your friends again?" one of the students asked. "Well, screw you too, then," the speech line moved, and a voice came from the projector. Students snickered, but some of them, like Candy Burn and Micro Chips stared in awe. "Hey, watch your language!" Mr. Roboto exclaimed. "How can I watch my language?" the voice inquired. "It is language." "You know what I mean," Mr. Roboto said. "Anyway, like I said last time, that was a prank. This time I'm serious." "Wouldn't the government already have discovered this?" another student asked. "They already have," Mr. Roboto said. "They've already hired me onto a team of theirs, to program an AI that will pilot the ships and planes better." The class was impressed, made clear by their murmurings. "Hello," the voice said. "I am F.I.R.S.T: Functional International Respondent System Threatener." Each word for the acronym appeared on the screen. "Any questions?" Everybody had raise their hands, but F.I.R.S.T choose Candy Burn. "Yes, you with the orange skin. What is your query?" "So, you're like a person, but fake?" Candy Burn asked. "Yes," F.I.R.S.T said, a hint of surprise tinging his synthetic voice. "Next question." As other students were selected to get there questions answered, Micro Chips leaned over to Candy Burn. "So, what's the problem this time?" Micro Chips asked, his voice a whisper. "What's threatening the school this time?" Candy Burn raised her eyebrow and frowned. "Nothing," she said, her voice mimicking Micro Chip's whisper. "How many times has Mom had to save this school from evil?" "Several times," Micro Chips said. "So there's no problem now?" Candy Burn shook her head. "No, there's a problem," Candy Burn said. "It's too long to explain right now, so if you want me to explain it after school, I'll be heading back to Princess-I mean Principal Celestia's house." Micro Chips nodded. "Is she really a princess in Equestria?" he asked. "Yep," Candy Burn said with a nod. The rest of Candy Burn's classes weren't as exciting. Home Economics was cool, especially cooking. Candy Burn liked cooking. As she waited outside the school, she waited for her sisters. She couldn't wait to compare afternoons with them. She also kept her gaze for Micro Chips. Candy Burn wasn't completely sure what to think about him, but he seemed interesting. As Candy Bun turned around, she saw Twill Weave, Taissy, and Floriba, approaching. Candy Burn smiled and waved to them. They all had some interesting stories to tell each other.
