> Father Daughter Day > by Comrade Bagel Muffin > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Bonding > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Scootaloo." The little winged Pegasus rolled over in her bed. "Scootaloo time to wake up." "Five more minutes," she yawned snuggling up under the covers. "Scootaloo. If you don't come down I can't promise that you'll have any breakfast left." Her ears twitched a little. "Brown sugar, cinnamon apple oats are my favorite too you know." "Don't touch my bowl! I'll be right down!" The little Pegasus threw her blankets off of her as she rushed out of the room. The blankets hadn't even fallen back to the bed yet before the sound of Scootaloo running down the stairs could be heard throughout the little house. The sound of laughter soon joined the sound of the filly's rushing hoof beats. "You didn't have to run you know." Quibble shook his head as Scootaloo caught her breath at the thresh hold between their dining room and living room. "The last time you said that you ate half of my bowl." Quibble laughed as he recalled his daughter's reluctance to come down for her first day of school. "It's not funny, my bowl was half empty." "I like seeing it as half full," Quibble said, chuckling at the exaggerated stink eye that his daughter was currently shooting at him. "Besides I had called you down five times, and if you had to eat the whole bowl you would have been late for school." He stifled a little laugh as the filly feigned insult. "Please I could have made it to school with a whole bowl, and I would have still had thirty minutes before school started." Scootaloo sat down at the table. Quibble decided it best not to ask her why then was she always late. He just enjoyed eating his spiced oats with his daughter. "So," she began with a mouthful of oats. "What're we gonna do today?" Quibble raised an eye brow. "Oh, come on dad. You made my favorite breakfast. I know we're doing something today." "I've made your favorite food before and we stayed at home," Quibble said a little hurt. "Dad we stayed at home, but we still hung out, and did cool stuff," Scootaloo answered with another mouth full of her seasoned oats. "Now come on dad. What's the game plan for today?" "Well I know how much you like Rainbow Dash," Quibble began. "Yeah she's the best!" "She sure is." He continued trying his hardest not to blush. "So I thought that the two of us would enjoy going to the Wonder Bolts show in Canterlot today." His little filly's eyes went wide. He smiled, it was nice to see her filled with such wonder and joy. "Our train leaves in two hours. We'll get there with enough time to get some good seats." He sighed. "We won't be able to stay the night though. So when we get back home I want you going to bed." "No problem Dad!" Scootaloo said excitedly through another mouth of oats. "The fact that you can talk so clearly while your mouth is full is proof that I dropped the ball raising you somewhere along the way." He smiled and sighed as he got up from the table and put his empty bowl in the sink. "Don't say that, your the best dad ever," she said being sure to swallow her last bite first. She got up and put her bowl in his and hugged him tight. "Really." "Thanks kiddo." He ruffled her mane. "Well we still got an hour and a half before we need to get to the train station, and since you're wide awake now. Let's go to the market and get our lunches and get them packed. Canterlot food is too expensive and not worth the bits." *** They had arrived at the train station just as it pulled into the station. Which was fortunate for Quibble Pants given that his daughter was about to burst from excitement. They had their lunches packed, and plans for a picnic in the Canterlot Public Gardens after the airshow. Which Scootaloo couldn't stop gushing over. She spent the entire time on the train barely able to sit down. He was a little worried she was going to explode when the train pulled into the Canterlot station. "I can't believe I get to go to Rainbow Dash's Canterlot debut." Her smile nearly took up her entire face. "Thank you dad, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!" "Calm down kiddo. You haven't even seen the show yet. Besides you saw her first show in Ponyville." The two or them walked down the streets of Canterlot. "Yeah, but that was just her in Ponyville now she'll be an official, official Wonder Bolt." The two of them arrived at the stadium with two hours and twenty minutes to spare. There were already ponies in the stadium, but there were still plenty of excellent seats to choose from. The stadium soon filled to full capacity as more and more ponies came in. At first it was just a small trickle, but as show time got closer and closer more and more ponies started pouring in. By zero hour the entire stadium was packed. The show was nothing short of amazing the Wonder Bolts did the best performance yet, and Rainbow Dash was at the top of her game. She spotted her two most loyal and fans and dedicated one of her tricks to them. She made sure that they and everypony else knew which one was for which. Scootaloo nearly died of excitement on the spot, her smile not capable of getting bigger. Quibble nearly died of embarrassment as Rainbow preformed the trick dedicated for him, His face couldn't get any redder. He was just thankful that the implications where a personal joke. And that his wife didn't know about it, and wasn't there to ask. After the show he and his little girl made their way to the Canterlot Gardens and enjoyed a reasonably priced, and extremely delicious lunch. Rainbow Dash found them and the park. The next five hours were spent talking about, her show, Daring Do, Scootaloo, her scooter tricks, her school, Quibble's work, Rainbow Dash, and a couple of minutes talking about things that Quibble was quite glad went over his filly's head. Celestia had already lowered the sun when they finished their conversation. Rainbow Dash walked with the father and daughter back to the train station. She had another show in Canterlot tomorrow. Quibble Pants and Scootaloo wished her luck, and sweet dreams as the boarded the train and headed home. *** The door to the house opened, and the two of them walked in. "Scootaloo." The little filly yawned and looked up at him. "I'm going to tell mom good night, you need to get some sleep." "Okay." Scootaloo nodded and started for the stairs. Quibble waited a moment to steady himself before he headed to the living room where he knew she was waiting. "Hello Sweety," Quibble picked up a picture with a soft orange Pegasus pony. "I took our little girl to a Wonder Bolts show today." He chocked and swallowed hard. "I wish you could have seen her she was so happy and full of life." He put the picture down not trusting himself to hold the sacred object. "She has you smile." "Daddy?" Quibble swallowed hard. He wiped the tears from his eyes as he turned to look at his daughter. "Yes baby." "Can I say good night to mommy too?" Tears trickled down his cheeks as he nodded.
