“Do you really think it is wise to bring the foal here?”

“Aye. She is one of us. Her highness will gladly take her in as if she was one of her own. She was the designated godparent after all and the foal will be greatly protected here.”

“Just because this is the most heavily guarded town left in Equestria doesn’t make it the safest. A big target is on this castle you know. It’s like a rabbit hole with only one exit. The rabbit may think it has the optimal defense, but if a fox gets in it leaves the rabbit nowhere to run.”

“You’re always worrying too much, Arrow. I, on the other hoof, am a ship in stormy waters, ready for what the sea shall lash at me and standing my ground against her.”

“That’s how you get killed, Cutlass.”

“Heh, still alive, aren’t I?”

“Pointless with you… That’s not important, though. Safety won’t be the only issue, you know. She is just a foal and has to grow up to be something everypony needs her to be.”

“She will have an abnormal life, yes, but she’s as strong as her mother. I can feel that spark in her; independent and ready. She will live happy.”

Ditzy Doo stared cautiously at the newcomer. She seemed so tiny and fragile that Ditzy didn’t want to touch her in fear she would break.

“Do you want to hold her, Ditzy?”

Ditzy looked up at her godmother and tried to hide in her wavy, celestial mane. She frantically shook her head, “She’s too small, Celestia”

“Ditzy, this is your godsister,” Celestia turned to face the little, gray filly, “Do you not want to hold your godsister?”

Ditzy looked down and rubbed her arm, “I… guess so.”

“Good. Now hold out your hooves.”

Ditzy did as she was told and allowed the foal to gently slide into her hooves.

“Cradle her neck with your left hoof and let her sit on your right one.”

Ditzy had a small smile on her face as the foal let out a yawn and opened her eyes. She stared up at Ditzy and gave a giant, gummy smile back.

“She’s smiling at me!”

“She is,” Celestia chuckled and walked around to Ditzy’s side, “That is your older sister, little one.”

Ditzy giggled when the foal made a babbling sound, “What’s her name?”

“Rainbow Dash.”

“Rainbow Dash? That’s pretty,” Ditzy repeated the name aloud to stick it in her mind before she turned back to the young one, “I’m your godsister, Rainbow, and when you get older, I will teach you all of the fun times to be had here in the castle.”

Rainbow gave another big smile followed my a babbling laugh.

“She seems to like you already,” Celestia put her hoof on Ditzy’s shoulder in a warm embrace.

“Really? Yay! We’re gonna be a big, happy family,” Ditzy laughed and snuggled Rainbow closer to herself.

“What about the Creed? Do you really think she can handle being apart of it?”

“It’s in her blood, Arrow. It’ll be a long road of training and mental preparedness, but she’ll pull through. She’s smart and caring, she will make the friends to help her though the tough times and aid her when she needs it most.”

“26 seconds!”

“That long? Damn these eyes,” Ditzy fell to the ground upon landing. Every muscle pained her to move for they were already pushed past their limits.

“Hey, be glad you can still fly,” a teal unicorn walked over and rolled onto her back, laying next to Ditzy, “and you’re eyes are still the amazing, sparkly gold they were before the accident.”

“Easy for you to say. Your eyes aren’t stuck cross.”

“At least your name is hard to rhyme. Dinky is Stinky. Dinky is Stinky,” the unicorn grinned.

“That’s because my name can be teased on its own, Dinky,” Ditzy smirked, “I have the worse life.”

“Oh please, you have a giant room in the castle,” Dinky punched Ditzy teasingly in the shoulder, “I’m just a maid.”

“Whatever! You get to hang out with the other Assassins! Meanwhile, I’m stuck having to learn all the protocols and being anxious about leading the damn thing.”

“Ok, ok, you win,” Dinky stood up and held her hoof out, “You have the worse life, Headmaster Ditzy.”

Ditzy started back up at the emerald green eyes of Dinky, a hint of sarcasm sparkling in the pupils. Ditzy grabbed Dinky’s hoof and stood up alongside her, “Well, the title makes it sound better than it really is. Besides, I still have a few more years before I’m even allowed to add it to my name.”

“True,” Dinky grabbed Ditzy in a headlock and proceeded to give the old fashioned noogie, “So until then, you’re my training partner. My crazy, little partner.”

Ditzy laughed, squirming away from Dinky’s hold, “Quit it!”

“Ditzy,” Princess Celestia was leaning out of her bedroom window, looking down into the lush, green gardens, “Can you come here and watch Rainbow for a few minutes?”

“Sure thing, Celestia,” Ditzy smiled, turning to hug Dinky, “I’ll see you later.”

“Later, Ditzy,” Dinky waved as her best friend flew up and into the castle.

“Thank you, Ditzy. Make sure she doesn’t fly out the window like she did last time,” Celestia gave a warm, loving embrace to Ditzy, “I love you.”

“Love you too, Celestia,” Ditzy snuggled into Celestia’s furry chest before letting go.

Celestia walked to a little play pen set up inside her bedroom, she leaned in and gave a soft peck on the cyan filly’s forehead, “Goodbye, Rainbow. Be good for your sister.”

“Bye-Bye,” Rainbow giggled and waved, jumping up and down in her little pen.

Celestia chuckled at the filly’s joyous commotions. She opened the bedroom door, saying a last farewell, and shutting the door in a gentle manner.

“Derpy,” Rainbow smiled big at the sight of her older sister, “Pway!”

Ditzy opened the play pen and went inside, sitting down on the fluffy cushion, “Ok. What do you want to play?”

“Bwawks,” Rainbow held up her favorite wooden block. One side had the letter R while its opposite had D. It had many different colors painted all around its sides with a few tiny teeth marks on its edges. Rainbow pushed it with her nose towards Ditzy, smiling brightly up to her.

Ditzy laughed with the foal. She grabbed the block and put it on the tip of her nose. She attempted to keep balance as it wobbled back and forward, making an eruption of laughter come from the filly as she clapped her hooves in joyous approval.

“Princess!”

The doors were blasted open, a force that shook Ditzy and made the block jump off its pointy platform.

“My master… oh,” the rude interrupter’s ears fell back as he hung his head down, “I-I didn’t mean to scare you. I was just looking for the Princess.”

Ditzy frowned as she felt a terrified Rainbow hide under Ditzy’s arm, whimpering slightly like a puppy.

“She is not here right now, sir. Who are you and what is your business here?”

“My name is Whooves. I am a scientist-in-training here under my master. We were testing what kind of minerals were contained inside an asteroid when we made a discovery. I was sent by my master to fetch her highness.”

“Well, I do not know where she is,” Ditzy raised an eyebrow, “You are welcome to stay and wait if you promise to keep the spontaneous noises to a minimum.”

“Uh… I promise.”

“Good,” Ditzy smiled and ruffled Rainbow’s mane, coaxing her to come out of hiding, “I’m Ditzy, by the way. This is my little sis, Rainbow Dash.”

Rainbow looked around her older sister’s arm and smiled at the new face. She waved frantically, “Hewwo!”

“Hello there,” Whooves approached her, sitting opposite of the two, “It is a pleasure to meet you, little one.”

Rainbow giggled and flapped her wings in excitement. She started to rise into the air which was quickly thwarted by Ditzy, bringing her back to the ground, “Nah-ah, young filly. No flying yet.”

“Aw,” Rainbow pouted, puffing her cheeks out and crossing her hooves.

“She sure is an adorable filly,” Whooves looked at Ditzy, “Most foals do not tend to like me.”

“I find that ridiculous. I like you.”

Whooves felt a warm sensation rise in his face. He stared at the gray pegasus with astonished eyes, “What? I-I… I do not no how to respond.”

A giggle wiggled its way out of Ditzy’s throat, her cheeks growing red themselves, “Well, a thank you is the normal response.”

“Uh… right. Thank you, m’lady,” Whooves nodded his head down in a small bow to show his gratitude, “I do not have a lot of experience in this type of conversation… or any conversation other than a scientific discussion, for that matter.”

“Is that so? Well, I think I’ll take it upon myself to teach you.”

“Really. Fine, if you insist,” through a timid cough, Whooves managed to show a cunning grin, “Under one condition. That you, Ms. Ditzy, become my new friend.”

“Smooth,” Ditzy laughed and smirked back at the brown earth pony while she picked up the pouting Rainbow onto her back, “And an unconventional way to ask someone to be your friend. However, I am up for any challenge. You got yourself a deal, Mr. Whooves, though I must bring to your attention that this agreement is not in you favor.”

“How so?”

“Because I have a cute colt thinking he has the upper hoof, when really,” Ditzy brushed the tip of her tail on the side of Whooves’s blushing cheek, “I have him chasing my tail.”

Touching his flush face and feeling his heart beating faster every second, Whooves could not help but chuckle as he followed the smug pegasus who led him to stroll the castle on a lovely afternoon.

“She’ll find her special somepony. The one right for her and that will keep her together in her darkest days,” Cutlass laughed a little when he brought his eyes down onto the foal in his hooves.

“What’s so funny,” Arrow looked at him, tilting his head slightly to the side.

“I can almost see it now. Almost as if I can see the wondrous mare she will become.”

“And why is that comical to you?”

“Because no matter what. She will always be the little filly I want to protect and love.”

Arrow was silent before he himself cracked a smile, “I guess that is true.”

“Indeed. Well, we better present her to Celestia. Our savior and our newest family member. Ditzy Doo.”
