It was a beautiful spring day; Celestia's sun was high in the clear blue cloudless sky. The birds were singing their joy and happiness the day brought, and the flowers waved a friendly greeting in the warm breeze.

Discord sighed in bliss. The day could not be anymore perfect for a picnic, and that's exactly what he and his wife Fluttershy were doing at the moment. Discord spread the red and white checkered blanket across the lush green grass, and then sat down to help Fluttershy unpack their picnic basket.

They were at their "Secret Garden" as they liked to call it. Thanks to Discord's magic, everything in the garden never died, especially during the winter. The flowers, the trees, the grass, or any animals that took up residence there.

Of course, being Discord, he had to add some chaoticness to the peaceful garden; so he made the leaves on all the trees shift on their own to a rainbow of colors. Fluttershy loved that particular touch of chaos because she thought it added more touch of beauty to the garden, which Fluttershy didn't think was possible before.

The Secret Garden was located near their home, which was what used to be the ancient Castle of the Two Sisters. Princess Celestia gave it to them as a wedding present, telling them that they could re-design it however they wished, including the amount of chaos Discord wanted so long as it didn't affect anything or anypony beyond the castle.

With a simple snap of his fingers, the castle had been fully restored. They kept the original exterior design, but instead of a sun and moon on top of the center tower of the castle, they replaced where the sun was on top with the symbol of chaos. Where the moon was underneath, was replaced with one of Fluttershy's three pink butterflies that was pictured on her flank.

Discord lay on the blanket across from where Fluttershy sat. He couldn't help but smile as his eyes fell on her stomach, she was seven months pregnant with their first child; a son, and he couldn't be prouder.

"Oh!" Fluttershy exclaimed in surprise, her hooves immediately flying to her stomach.

"What is it? What's wrong?" Discord asked in concern as he came close enough to her to put his arms around her.

"He kicked!" She took his lion paw and placed it on her rounded stomach. After a few seconds, he felt a little ripple under his paw. His eyes widened in amazement as he continued to stare at his paw on her stomach. He looked up at his wife, his eyes were shinning with wonder and love.

No matter how many times Discord had felt it, it never ceased to amaze him that the child he and Fluttershy created was thriving and growing inside Fluttershy.

Discord cupped her chin and kissed her deeply, his paw still resting on her stomach as he did.

Their kiss was suddenly cut short when Discord turned away from her in abrupt surprise and his eagle claw flew to his back as he winced in pain.

"What happened?" Fluttershy tried to look at the spot on his back that he covered with his claw, but he kept blocking her view and wouldn't let her see it. He brought his claw back in front of him and examined it, hoping it would give him some sort of clue as to what had hit him so suddenly.

"What happened?" She asked again.

Discord continued to look his claw over. "I have no idea." He said as he looked at her.

"Ok...well...we might as well eat. Maybe you'll figure it out after you've had some food in you stomach." She turned away from him and flew over to the picnic basket. Her back was to him as she picked some food out of the basket and sat it down beside her. While she continued to do so, she heard what sounded like a combination of grunts, hisses, and growls. The sound sent an icy chill down her spine.

Fluttershy froze for a second before turning her head slowly to look over her shoulder. What she saw made her blood freeze...

Discord was standing hunched over on all four legs, his back to her. His long, scaly red tail was thrashing wildly around him. His claws were sheathing and unsheathing in an uncontrollable manner, piercing holes in the soft blanket.

Fluttershy turned around completely as she nervously inched toward him.

"Discord? Are...are you...okay..." She tentatively asked as she reached for him with a hoof. "W-w-what's wrong..."

His tail stopped thrashing, but he was still on all fours with his back still facing her. He turned his head to look directly at her, and she immediately drew her hoof back...

His once beautiful, mesmerizing red and yellow eyes had changed...His mismatched pupils were now normal sized and shaped into slits. His once ruby colored irises were now black as a starless night. He turned the rest of his body around until he was completely facing her. He slowly advanced on her and as he did so a low, menacing growl came from his throat. His gaze still directed on her.

This wasn't her Discord. This was a wild, savage beast.

For the first time in her life. Fluttershy was truly afraid of the creature before her...

She backed away as it continued to advance on her. It's body crouched low to the ground, it's gaze never leaving hers.

"D-D-D-Discord??" Fluttershy's voice shook so much she began to tremble, her body shaking so much that she stumbled backward in her haste to get away.

The beast took the opportunity to attack. It lunged at her, teeth bared in a snarl. Having every intention to kill her.

All she felt was pain when the beast crashed into her. Fluttershy immediately tried to protect her stomach where her unborn foal was resting from the creature's onslaught. She felt the creature's razor sharp claws tear at her flesh and sharp pointed teeth bury themselves in the back of her neck.

Fluttershy was too petrified to move, the fear of this monster in front of her had overtaken her body and her thinking capacity. All she could do was scream as loud as she could and just prayed to Celestia that somepony would hear her...

"HELP! PLEASE! SOMEPONY! ANYPONY! HELP MEEEEE!"

Two police stallions were out on patrol, a unicorn and and earth pony, leisurely walking down the street.

"Hey Bizzies, I heard Donut Joe opened up another shop right here in Ponyville. Do you want to stop by and grab something?" Officer Flathoof asked his earth pony partner.

Officer Bizzies looked at his companion. "Sure, why don't we..."

He was cut off by a high-pitched scream that filled air.

"HELP! PLEASE! SOMEPONY! ANYPONY! HELP MEEEEE!"

The stallions both looked at each other simultaneously. No words were spoken as they immediately galloped off in the direction the scream came from...

Fluttershy was starting to lose all the hope she had of anypony hearing her cries and coming to her aid. Tears were streaming down her face like a waterfall, but not because of the pain the scratches and bites that covered her body caused, but because her own husband had turned on her and was going to kill both her, and her unborn son. And the worst part, was that it wasn't even her husband anymore. It was a demon that had possessed Discord's body.

This is it then...This is how I am to end...

Fluttershy thought to herself as she saw the beast's jaws parted to deliver the killing bite to her throat. She shut her eyes tight, waiting for the death she was sure was coming...

All of a sudden, the shrill sound of whistles pierced through the air. The beast looked up from where it was looming over her with it's ears perked to attention.

Two police stallions burst through the trees, galloping towards them. When Officer Bizzies saw the creature standing over Fluttershy and the wounds the creature inflicted upon the poor mare, he fired an intense bolt of green magic from his horn.

Little did anypony know, it got hit with something else at that exact same moment...

The creature fell back from the impact the bolt of magic made in it's shoulder. It lost consciousness as the two cops ran over to the trembling Fluttershy.

"Uuugh..." Discord groaned. "Wha..what happened..."

Discord's claw immediately flew up to his right shoulder as pain shot down the entire length of his right arm. He lifted his claw carefully to see a wide, and deep red gash across his shoulder

Discord lifted his head to look around. His vision was blurry, but when he saw that Fluttershy was curled in a tight ball between two police ponies, he bolted to his feet.

"Fluttershy darling! are you alright?" He was shocked to see that she backed away as he approached. He frowned.

"Fluttershy, what's..." Discord reached for her with his claw, only for her to back away further.

As he held his claw out, he noticed the length of the long scratches all along her body. It was the exact length of his talons on his eagle claw....

Oh sweet Celestia no! Please say I didn't...

But the look in Fluttershy's eyes told him his worst fear has come true...

No..no no no no no no...

Discord stumbled away from her. The police stallions turned away from comforting the shaking Fluttershy and cautiously approached Discord. Officer Bizzies' horn glowed in warning.

Discord bolted. He wasn't thinking straight and couldn't focus on his magic to teleport. Just needing to get away...

Fluttershy watched the two police stallions chase after the creature that was once her husband. Watching as their figures disappeared into the trees on the other side of the garden.

So many things were reeling in Fluttershy's mind at that moment, like why did he seem so savage and wild one minute and sweet and tender the next? Why did he attack her? Not only that, but deliberately tried to kill her? Didn't he know who she was? Whose foal she was carrying?

Fluttershy thought that Discord's betrayal with Tirek hurt greatly, but the pain she felt back then was nothing compared to what she was feeling now. Both physically and emotionally.

Suddenly, all the adrenaline from the attack drained out of her like how Tirek had drained magic. She started to instantly feel the stinging pain the bites and scratches on her body caused that had been dulled by the adrenaline. But the ache in her heart hurt more than the wounds on her body...

She collapsed in a heap on the picnic blanket out of pure exhaustion. She buried her face in her hooves and began to cry her eyes out, both from physical and emotional pain.

Discord ran blindly through the trees. The sound of the police stallions giving chase were hard on his heels. He dove behind a tall rock that he started to run past and hid behind it, holding his breath hoping the stallions wouldn't see or hear him.

He chanced a peak from behind the rock but had to quickly pull back as the sound of thundering hooves became louder. They galloped past where Discord was hiding without a second glance behind them. Discord watched them until they disappeared from out of sight through the far side of the forest.

And they call themselves cops. Discord thought to himself, shaking his head.

Even though they were long gone, Discord still stayed behind his rock. He sat down and leaned against the cold hard surface, he sighed, trying to contemplate the recent events that took place less than an hour ago. As he sat there, he could taste something bitter and metallic in his mouth. A taste that was so familiar and yet so foreign.

He flashed himself to their special lagoon and looked down at his reflection in the clear crystal water. His eyes instantly fell on his fang that stuck out of his mouth, about half of the tooth was stained a bright red. It was exactly as he had feared...blood. But not just any blood...Fluttershy's blood...

He opened his mouth to examine his other teeth, which were all splattered with blood as well. Discord tried to wash it off with the water from the lagoon, but it seemed that no matter how hard or how much he washed his mouth out, the red stains on his white teeth would never fade. Forever reminding him of what he had done...of the beast he had truly become...

A soft rumble of thunder broke the silence of the night sky and a steady rain began to fall. Discord saw his reflection in the lagoon begin to ripple and eventually disappear altogether as the rain fell harder.

Fluttershy was given a ride and was escorted to the Ponyville Hospital by the two police ponies to get stitched up from her wounds. She received a full check up and even an ultrasound to check on the baby, which to the relief of both the staff and Fluttershy, appeared to be unharmed.

Now, hours later, with the storm becoming fiercer by the minute. Fluttershy watched the rain pelt against the window from inside their castle. As each minute ticked by, she became increasingly more worried about Discord. He hadn't come home since the whole "fiasco" at their Secret Garden yet and Fluttershy was feeling sick with worry.

A flash of lightning lit up the night sky, it was followed immediately by a really loud clap of thunder to which Fluttershy shrieked and jumped back in fear. After the thunder subsided, she went back to the window and looked out at the pure black, rain filled sky and sighed.

Oh Discord...Where are you?

It had been a long and exhausting day for Fluttershy. Her body began to ache and feel stiff due to all the stitches she had. She remembered the doctor specifically told her to rest for the remainder of the day, as the anesthetic would soon wear off and that it would be more comfortable for her if she didn't walk around so much. After everything that has happened though, she couldn't get her body or her mind to stay still.

At this point, it was almost midnight and there was still no sign of Discord. By now, the storm seemed to be slowing down and the sound of the rain pittar-pattering against the window lulled her to sleep, like a soft gentle lullaby. Fluttershy couldn't stay awake any longer, as she headed up to her room, she silently prayed to Celestia from the bottom of her heart that she would wake up in the morning with her husband beside her once again...

Fluttershy woke up with a start as a loud clap of thunder split the sky. She buried herself underneath the covers as another loud clap followed suit. It seemed the storm had come back, as the rain drummed against the windows and the roof harder than before. The wind was blowing so hard that Fluttershy could practically feel the trees outside being pushed and bent by the wind, threatening to fall.

Hoping for comfort, she instinctively reached for Discord...only to have her hooves meet with empty air...

She switched on the lamp on her nightstand and looked over to Discord's side of the bed.

There was nothing there.

Nothing. No wrinkled sheets or impressions in the mattress to indicate that a body had been there.

Fluttershy looked at the little clock on her nightstand, it was well past three a.m.

Maybe he's downstairs and just hasn't come to bed. Fluttershy tried to convince herself, but she already knew there was no point.

"Discord? Discord? Are you down here?"

But the only reply she received was her own echo that bounced off the long empty walls of the castle. After searching every room in the castle, Fluttershy let out a defeated sigh.

"If he won't come to me, than I'll just go to him!" She stomped her hoof down.

She knew exactly how to find him...

"Hold yer horses ah'm comin!" Applejack shouted over the storm as the banging on the door persisted.

She swung the door open against the raging wind to find Fluttershy standing there, whose mane was plastered against her body and she was trembling slightly. She held out a pair of soaking wet white bunny slippers.

"Fluttershy? What in tarnation are ya doin here at this time of night?! Not ta mention this storm!" Applejack said as she pulled her inside the barn. Once Fluttershy was all the way inside she slammed the door closed against the driving wind and rain.

"Hoo-wee! It's rainin' harder than a cow peen' on a flat rock out there!"

Applejack turned to look at her.

"Let's get ya warmed up an' dried off first an' then ya can tell me what's goin' on." Applejack said gently.

"Discord hasn't come home yet, Applejack! I'm really worried! I want Winona to get his scent from these slippers and follow it. I'm hoping she'll lead us right to him." Fluttershy continued to hold out the bunny slippers, which Applejack recognized as his "Angel Bunny" slippers that Discord wore when he stayed at Fluttershy's cottage for the first time. When he was in the process of becoming reformed.

Applejack sighed "Alright...but yer' stayin' here where it's safe an' dry. Ah'll go with Winona an' come back for ya if we find anythin'...."

"NO!" Fluttershy said firmly. "I am going!"

"But Fluttershy...It is dangerous out there with this here storm! And yer' in no condition ta...

"I don't care! I am going with or without you!" Fluttershy glared at Applejack.

Applejack sighed again. "Alright...but ya' have to stay by me."

"Great! Thank you Applejack! Thank you!" Fluttershy cried joyfully.

"Winona, come!" Applejack said loudly, but not loud enough to wake the rest of the Apple family.

Winona came running up to Applejack, her tail wagging to-and-fro frantically. She sat in front of Applejack and looked up at her expectantly. Her mouth was turned in way that looked almost like a smile.

Applejack chuckled at the enthusiasm the energetic little dog held. She nodded over to Fluttershy to come stand beside her.

"Alright Winona; sniff." Applejack commanded. Fluttershy held out the soggy slippers to the dog as Winona sniffed every inch of them.

"Now go find him, girl!" Applejack opened the door and Winona immediately ran out into the stormy night.

It had only been about ten minutes when Winona led them into the Everfree Forest. Her nose still glued to the ground as she continued to follow the trail that only she knew.

Applejack glanced worriedly over at Fluttershy, who walked with her head down to keep the driving rain out of her eyes.

"Ya okay sugercube?" Applejack asked as softly as she could through the storm overhead.

Lightning flashed overhead and thunder rolled across the sky at that moment. Fluttershy didn't answer her as she continued to trudge through the storm. Applejack had no idea if she was deliberately ignoring her or if she simply couldn't hear her.

A triumphant bark sounded in the woods ahead of them. Both Fluttershy and Applejack looked at each other at that instant.

"She found him!" Applejack shouted.

As fast as their four legs could carry them, they bolted in the direction Winona's bark came from.

The harsh rain drove into Fluttershy's eyes, making her almost blind as she ran behind Applejack. She was a little slow due to her pregnancy, but that did not stop her as she raced through the dark and stormy night.

Please let him be alright... She prayed desperately in her mind.

Winona's bark was getting louder and louder with every step, indicating they were drawing closer to her...and to Discord.

The rain had eased up a bit. It was still raining pretty hard, but not so hard that it blinded her eyesight. Fluttershy burst through the undergrowth following closely behind Applejack. When she emerged, she stopped dead in her tracks...

Winona was standing at the mouth of a very small cave. Fluttershy couldn't tell if this specific cave was made with Discord's magic or if it was here naturally. The Everfree Forest was so big and there were many parts to it that have yet to be discovered, and Fluttershy had no desire to explore it.

Winona's bark snapped her out of her thoughts. The little dog on the other hoof could barely contain herself. She was so excited and pleased at her discovery that she literally could not sit still. Her hindquarters would wiggle excitedly as she tried to sit, making her rump lift off the ground!

Winona looked at the two rain soaked ponies expectantly and then looked inside the cave. After a few seconds of repeating the movement, Applejack and Fluttershy dashed into the black hole that was the cave.

It was dark and musty inside. There was still a harsh chill within the cave walls, but at least it was dry and kept the wind out. Fluttershy had no idea how she was supposed to find Discord. There was no light or sounds to indicate how far he was from her.

Just then, she heard ragged breathing coming from up ahead. She quickened her pace until she was practically running. There was also a sour and repugnant smell that hung in the air. With her experience with animals, Fluttershy knew all too well that that was the smell of an infected wound.

The ragged breaths gradually grew louder and louder and the smell grew stronger and stronger.

"Discord?" Fluttershy called through the darkness of the cave. Time seemed to slow down as Fluttershy, Applejack, and Winona continued to race forward. Never once looking back. Fluttershy continued to run blindly through the dark until she smacked into something, the force of the abrupt stop caused her to fall down backwards onto the cold hard stone floor.

"Discord?" Fluttershy whispered, "Is that you?"

There was no answer, only the sound of something shuffling. Fluttershy easily recognized the sound of a cloven hoof and the sound of a long toenail clicking on the ground. She knew of only one creature with that combination of sounds.

"Discord, that is you!" Fluttershy dashed forward until she practically bumped into him again. She wrapped her front hooves around what felt like his torso, as she still couldn't see properly.

"Oh honey I've been so worried I-" She felt his body moving out of her grasp. Fluttershy heard him move a couple of paces away from her before he stopped.

"Discord?"

He still said nothing. Even though Fluttershy couldn't physically see him, she could feel him staring at her through the darkness.

"What are you doing here?" Discord said in a voice so low it sounded almost threatening.

Now Fluttershy was confused.

"What do you mean 'What am I doing here?'. I've come to take you home that's what." She stated firmly.

He didn't reply, and Fluttershy only sighed. Just then, there was a faint flickering light coming from the back end of the tunnel. Fluttershy had to squint her eyes as the light grew brighter and brighter until...

Applejack emerged, carrying a hoofmade wooden torch with a bouncing Winona at her side.

Fluttershy smiled and sighed in relief.

"Oh Applejack, thank goodness it's just you!" Fluttershy said as she walked up to her.

"Wait, how did you make that?" She indicated to the fiery stick Applejack held in her hoof. "It is too wet outside to even make a spark, and it is too dark to see anything."

"Ah felt them sticks on the ground as ah was runnin' in here, they were dry enough that ah could work with em'. Ah only needed to rub em' together until literally sparks were a'flyin." Applejack explained with a chuckle.

Fluttershy smiled back and took the torch from Applejack. With it securely in her hoof, she walked over to Discord who was now visible thanks to the fire's light. He was sitting down with his back facing her and his head hung low. She quietly approached him from behind and walked around until she was in his line of view. She held the torch out farther in front of her to glance at the wound the police stallion gave him hours earlier.

Sure enough, the wound on his shoulder was caked with a mix of dry and fresh blood and it was seeping with foul smelling puss.

Fluttershy wrinkled her nose. Yep, definitely infected.

She turned her gaze away from the sight and looked at her husband, who turned his head away whenever Fluttershy tried to look him in the eye.

"Discord, look at me." Fluttershy put her hooves on both sides of his face and forced him to look at her, but before she opened her mouth to speak, Discord pushed her hooves off him and moved away from her. Fluttershy just stood there with her mouth hanging open, completely shocked as she watched Discord move farther from her grasp.

"You shouldn't be here." He murmured.

"Neither should you." Fluttershy shot back. "Discord, why have you not come home? I've been worried sick about you!"

"This is where wild animals belong Fluttershy. You of all ponies should know that."

"What are you talking about? What does that have to do with anything?"

Fluttershy walked up to him again and put a soothing hoof on his uninjured shoulder.

"Discord, what is this about-"

"DON'T TOUCH ME!"

He shouted and this time slapped her hoof away. This time however, he stayed where he was.

Even though Discord didn't physically move, Fluttershy still felt that he was far beyond her reach.

She heard him sigh and felt tears form in her eyes from the sound of it. Why was he acting as if he didn't care? Did...did he not love her anymore?

"Discord." Fluttershy whispered, "Please...Come home.."

Discord turned his head to look at her. "I am home."

Before Fluttershy could protest, he continued with what he was saying.

"Like I said before, the Everfree Forest is where wild animals, beasts, a-and monsters...like me..belong." His voice cracked.

Fluttershy felt hot tears fall down her cheeks. "D-Discord..what are you talking about? You're not a monster, you've never been one."

"I have always been one Fluttershy, today only proved it."

Fluttershy now understood what this was all about. The whole "incident" at their Secret Garden earlier in the day.

"Is that what this is all about?! Discord, what happened earlier didn't prove anything! I will it admit it frightened me when you turned on me as you did, but I know that was not you!"

Discord growled, "Then who was it then? Was it not I who turned on you?" He stood up and towered over her and held up his eagle claw with all fingers splayed. "Was it not my own claws that sliced through your beautiful coat?"

Fluttershy didn't know what to say, it was true that it were his claws that gave her the marks on her body...but at the same time it wasn't. It was like...his body had been possessed by some dark spirit.

"No Discord, it wasn't." She said confidently with her head held high. "It may have been your body, but it wasn't YOU."

Discord scowled at her. "That doesn't make any sense and you know it."

"What's the fun in making sense?" Fluttershy retorted.

It was the closest thing to a smile on Discord's face since she found him in this dark cave, but whatever remnent of a smile he may have had was gone as quickly as it came. He sighed and turned his back on her once more.

"That doesn't change anything! I could've k-killed you..." His voice broke and when he turned to face her she could see his eyes shining with tears. "C-couldve k-killed our son! I-I'm a beast F-F-F-Fluttershy! LOOK AT ME! I'm even made up of different beasts!"

He completely broke down, and in his despair he collapsed weakly on the cave floor. Lying in a heap with his head buried in his arms as he cried.

Fluttershy immediately ran over to his crumpled form, she too had tears rushing down her face from the state her husband was in.

"Oh, Discord..." She sobbed as she wrapped her hooves around his neck and nuzzled her head into his chest fur. She could feel the heat radiating off him, he most likely had a fever due to his infected wound, and the wind and rain certainly wasn't helping. Her suspicions were confirmed when she gently put a hoof to his forehead.

"P-please Fluttershy..d-d-don't...I...I don't want to hurt you..." He stuttered through his tears.

Fluttershy began to soothingly run her hoof through his mane. "But you won't."

Discord lifted his head from where it was hidden in his arms and looked at her. "How do you-"

"Because I know you Discord, and I know you would never hurt me on purpose."

He sniffed.

Fluttershy continued. "I know you did not do it on purpose, I saw you trying to resist whatever power you were under." She said as she remembered him thrashing and struggling on the picnic blanket. It happened after he was hit with that mysterious object...

That was it! That was what caused him to turn on her so suddenly! It wasn't his doing at all as he so claimed!

"I know what happened." She said with calm jubilation.

He sniffed again. "What?"

"I'll explain later, but let's get you home first and let me tend to your shoulder."

He didn't protest as Fluttershy helped him up to all fours and lead him out of the cave, not seeming to mind when he leaned heavily against her due to his bad shoulder. Of course, he could've used magic to heal it, but he felt it was rightly deserved after what he did to Fluttershy. He felt he deserved the pain...

Discord uttered a soft groan as he felt something cold and wet touch his forehead. His eyes slowly fluttered open to see a blurry-faced Fluttershy hovering over him. He blinked his eyes a few more times before her face finally came into focus.

"Discord?" Fluttershy whispered, lifting the cool rag from his face.

Discord took in his surroundings, he was in his and Fluttershy's bedroom, lying on their bed. He looked down to see that half of his arm was wrapped in a bulky white bandage. He saw relief in Fluttershy's eyes at seeing him awake.

"Wha..what happened?" he asked groggily, trying to sit up a little but finding it difficult.

Fluttershy gently pushed him back down.

"Hush, it's okay Discord. Don't try to move too much. I had Applejack summon a doctor as soon as we left the cave. He met us at the front steps and helped me carry you to our bed because you were barely conscious by the time we came through the door that I was having a hard time supporting you. As soon as we got you settled into bed you were completely out and that is when the doctor looked you over."

She paused for a moment, rubbing soothing circles on his lion paw.

"You have a really bad infection in the shot wound the police gave you. It's the worst infection the doctor has seen in that kind of injury yet, you are lucky you didn't lose full mobility of it."

Discord wasn't paying attention anymore, he was too focused on the long scars and stitches that marked all over her body.

Fluttershy saw the distant look in his eyes and mistook it as something being really wrong.

"Discord? Discord what's wrong?" she asked as panic started to rise and settle within her.

Without answering, he reached up with his good arm and with tender and gentle fingers, traced a line of stitches across her right cheek. Fluttershy's breath caught in her throat as she felt Discord's delicate touch continue to trace the scars and stitches on her face and neck. She could see tears starting to form in his eyes. Even though the shape of his eyes were not the same size, the amount of tears in both were the same.

With a sigh, she moved Discord's claw away and looked down at him. Fluttershy could tell that Discord was trying to hold back his tears, refusing to let them fall.

Without out a word, Fluttershy leaned over and planted a small kiss on her husband's forehead. She let her lips linger on the skin for a few seconds before pulling back and getting off the bed.

"I love you honey. Try to get some rest." She said softly before turning her back on him and heading toward the door.

"Why?" came the softest whisper from behind her.

Fluttershy paused where she was, her back still facing him. She knew what he meant, but she played dumb.

"Because you need rest in order to heal faster and gain your strength back. I thought that fact was obvious."

She said that as if she were reprimanding a sick foal confined to a bed and asking why he couldn't go sledding on a snowy day.

Discord completely ignored her. "Why do you still love me?"

Fluttershy didn't move from where she was, she knew this was coming, and she could feel his gaze glued on her.

"After everything I've done..." his voice shook. "With Tirek and now...this. Why would you still love me? If I were you I would fly as far away as I could...Why do you stay...Why do you care..." His voice trailed off and she could hear soft sobs. Fluttershy turned her head around and could see tears dripping down his cheeks.

Fluttershy sighed and turned fully around to walk to his bedside. When she came up beside him, she looked straight into his mismatched eyes and her heart broke from the sadness she saw within the red depths.

"Of course I still care Discord. Even if what happened today was on purpose I would still love you! There is nothing you could do that would change my feelings for you." Fluttershy told him without any hint of doubt.

Discord said nothing, he just bit his lip and turned his gaze away. When he looked back at her, Fluttershy could see so much confusion in his eyes. He didn't know what to believe. A part of him held on to the hope that Fluttershy would love him unconditionally, but another part of him told him that it was too good to be true, that opinions and feelings of somepony could change in an instant.

Fluttershy could see he was struggling to grasp what she had said. There was nothing she could say at the moment that would completely reassure him, but she hoped that the level of sincerity, love, and most of all; trust, in her eyes would speak volumes to him that her words could not.

Fluttershy climbed back onto the bed and sat next to him. Without a word, she slipped her hooves around his neck in a hug.

Discord hesitated for a moment before wrapping his good arm around her to hug her back. He buried his muzzle into her rose scented hair and shut his eyes to fight against the raging emotions inside him.

Fluttershy could feel a few stray tears fall on her back, just like she could feel a few tears of her own fall down his.

After a few minutes of doing nothing but embrace each other, Discord broke the hug and put his claw on his wife's swollen belly.

"Did...Did I..." he gulped. "The baby...I didn't hurt him did I?"

Fluttershy smiled and squeezed his paw affectionately, "I had an ultrasound down at Ponyville Hospital to check on the baby after...you know, and he was just fine." Her hoof rose to stroke his cheek, "Our son is just fine."

Discord let out a shaky sigh of relief. Fluttershy gave him a reassuring smile before leaning down and giving him a kiss on his lips.

"You said you didn't think I...did this on purpose. What makes you think that?" Discord said a bit harshly. He remembered what she said to him as they were leaving the cave last night, and he was curious to know what she thought happened if it wasn't his doing, as she was so strongly convinced.

"Like I said before, I saw you struggling and trying to resist whatever magic somepony had you under. It came on suddenly and ended just as suddenly..."

"So what are you saying Fluttershy?" Discord interrupted.

Fluttershy ignored his rudeness. "If you had let me finish, I was saying that I think that somepony wanted to hurt you, not physically, but emotionally. I think whoever did this tried to turn you into the monster you have always regarded yourself as, and I think they wanted you to believe that after they had you attack me. Their main goal I believe, was that after you had turned back to normal, they wanted you to realize you had attacked me. Therefore, firmly believing you a monster." She finished.

Discord was quiet as he took in everything his wife just said.

"That is a very in-depth theory." He stated blankly.

Fluttershy gave a small frown, it sounded as if he didn't believe her. She couldn't exactly blame though, the idea did seem a little far-fetched. Even though she believed it with her whole heart.

"That's what I believe." She said softly, but confidently.

Before getting down from the bed, she kissed her husband's forehead to check for fever.

"You still feel really warm, I am going to go downstairs to re-wet the rag with cold water. I'll be right back."

As Fluttershy turned and left the room, one question that will possibly never have an answer still plagued her mind...

Who could've done that to Discord? And if Fluttershy's theory was correct, why would they want to expose a side of Discord that never existed and possibly send him to stone once again?
