Chapter 1
Dear Sunset Shimmer,
My apologies for not writing back to you earlier, as you can imagine life as a princess has been kind of hectic. Other than taking on my new responsibilities as the princess of friendship, I also now have a personal student I am tutoring called Starlight Glimmer. Is there a Starlight Glimmer you know of at Canterlot High? If not I would love to send her there for a day so the two of you could meet, or better yet maybe you could come back here for a spell (pardon the pun, I've been hanging out with Pinkie Pie too much) and talk. I'm sure the two of you would get along well given your past of being manipulative social paths……... Er, no offense!
Anyway after talking with Starlight and going over your past few entries, I decided I really should keep up with our correspondence being I am technically your teacher in friendship as well as Starlight’s, and I do have a few things I wish to go over with you involving your past entries.
First and foremost, let's talk about your issues with Flash…... I get how you can find his demeanor and near stalking habits annoying, not to mention creepy, but is responding in acts of physical violence REALLY the best way to handle it? I mean running him over with a Ford Focus? (I assume that's one of those vehicle things on four wheels you guys drive around a lot) Shoving him out a window? Kicking him in the groined? You’re lucky you haven't killed him yet………... At least I hope you haven't. These acts of violence seem more akin to the old Sunset, and not the new one I saw on my last visit. I am glad you at least have also tried talking to him, and are trying to start over as friends. Although you REALLY need to work on your anger issues!
Ironically my student Starlight has similar issues with learning to not immediately resort to using her magic to force others to act the way she wants in order to overcome an obstacle. Again I really do feel the two of you should meet up some time, you both could learn a lot from one another. Recently she had a similar issue where she tried to take care of several friendship lessons at once while I was away on royal duty hoping to impress me. When things started to get out of hoof (or out of hand as you would say) she immediately resorted to using magic, and cast a rather potent combination of Fiducia and Copus Compellus, which forced my friends to do whatever she wanted allowing her to control how they were going to handle the friendship lessons. Of course this plan ended up failing as things spiraled out control ending in her somehow lighting fire to and flooding my castle. Not to mention a bad case of spider infestation.
I'm worried this same thing may happen to you if you don't learn to control your anger! Luckily for Starlight the worst that happened was my friends had a bit of a headache, and she had to clean the entire castle without resorting to magic (though I did allow use of levitation spells). But for you the consequences could be far more serious, such as being forced to pay for any severe injuries you may give Flash or even incarceration! I suggest maybe you should seek out help in the form of Anger Management Therapy, or even Self Help books. Of course I'm always available to help as well if you require further advice. I know I've not been the best at responding back thus far, but I promise I will try and be better at keeping up with our correspondence.
Next on my agenda of things I wish to discuss with you is your feelings of inadequacy. Trying to start over again is not an easy thing for anypony, or anyone. So far you seem to have adjusted somewhat well to life as an actual student at Canterlot High (how DID you manage to stay there all those years not being an actual student without being caught?). You also seem to be getting along well with your new friends……... With the possible exception of Flash. Joining The Rainbooms was an excellent idea as well, getting yourself involved in activities with those around you is the best way to move on, make friends, and possibly find a new direction in life. I would HEAVILY suggest maybe joining some other school clubs that may interest you. Such as the literature club or the science club. Maybe even a community club around your neighborhood (I assume your world has them too). Find something that makes you happy and allows you to contribute with society. Things both Starlight and myself have found useful in this regard is taking part in The Running of the Leaves, Winter Wrap-up, a few plays, and joining a literary club (founded by yours truly) here in Ponyville!
I would also like to discuss your direction in life, in particular your plans for after school. You mentioned in an entry you were not quite sure what you could do in that world being the one thing you are good at is magic. I'm not quite sure that is true, the whole magic being the only thing you are good at that is. You see I myself have an affinity for magic, and it is also my special talent. But it is not my ONLY talent as I also have talents in Writing, Reading (yes that is a talent despite what SOME PONIES or DRAGONS might say), and organization! I'm sure you also have talents in other areas despite not knowing it. For one thing you seem to have picked up playing the guitar rather quickly, a feat not easy for most, AND you also have natural abilities as a leader from what I've heard about what happened at The Friendship Games, and Camp Everfree.
However, if it so happens no career options in the human (That’s how you spell it right?) world, then another option you do have is to return to Equestria. I made you stay there after our first encounter to learn about friendship and make amends for all the pain and suffering you had caused. From what I have read and seen you have long since accomplished this and then some, therefor I really don’t see any reason WHY you could not return to Equestria once your studies are complete. Don’t worry about what Princess Celestia might think, I assure you she will be happy with it and more then excited to see you once again.
On that note there is one more thing I would like to touch on before closing, this is already long enough of an entry to make one of those stupid thinly veiled self-insert Daring Doo Fanfictions Rainbow Dash writes. Even if you DO choose to stay in that world I really hope you at least make one last visit to Equestria to make amends with Princess Celestia. I know you still have past transgressions about what happened between the two of you, your last entry was proof enough. But that was years ago, and I do believe it is time to let it go. Princess Celestia was most worried about you after I returned without you the first time we met, and I am sure she would love to see you again and catch up on old times. The good ones that is.
Hope to hear from you again soon, I will try and keep up with corresponding more from this point forward. Starlight will be making sure of it. Really hope the two of you can meet sometime, I’m sure you would become fast friends.
