The residents are almost always happy, the weather is almost always beautiful, it's just a great place to live. And what's a great town without great friends to enjoy life with? In fact, there are so many friendships that have bloomed in this town, that it is actually the home to the princess of friendship herself! However, just because there are tons of friendships that have been created over the years, doesn't mean there aren't any actual loving relationships, and Ponyville has plenty of those too. Couples are always going around town holding hooves, hugging, and of course, kissing. Today, we are going to focus on two different couples specifically. The ponies involved in these relationships have been best friends even since they were kids, and they still are friends with each other to this day. The first relationship is about two mares who have hid their love for one another for several years. They are a yellow earth pony named Applebloom and a orange pegasus named Scootaloo. They became an item back when they were around 15 years old and in high school. They both had small crushes on each other and they finally let it slip at a local school dance. Even since that day, they've always been each other's side, up until the day that Applebloom proposed to Scootaloo. After they got married, they settled down in a small house in Ponyville, spending some time calming down. The other relationship is about two different species coming together to become a family. They are a white unicorn named Sweetie Belle and a purple dragon named Spike. Ever since the dragon first moved to Ponyville, he actually had feelings not for Sweetie, but her older sister Rarity. However, as years went by and after a few failed attempts to get Rarity to notice his love, he eventually decided to give up and search for somepony else. Soon, he asked Sweetie Belle out on a date one night and they seemed to hit it off great. They became a couple, then Spike proposed to her, then a few months after their marriage, the two told their family and friends that Sweetie was actually pregnant. They currently live in a large house not too far away from the castle of the princess of friendship. These two relationships have actually made several ponies across town a bit split. They've never seen a relationship between a pony and a dragon before, so it was hard for many to believe that Sweetie and Spike were actually in love and that this wasn't some sick joke. On the other hoof, they were a few other same-sex couples in town, so they most were okay with Applebloom and Scootaloo being together. However, there would be one or two ponies who would call them out for “not being with the stallion of your dreams,” or something like that. But they didn't care. They loved each other and that's all that mattered. Well after a few months of waiting, Sweetie Belle was dragged down to the hospital to give birth to her child. After several minutes of pushing and struggling as she held onto Spike’s claw as hard as she could, the pain suddenly stopped and she very clearly hear the sounds of crying. However, as soon as the baby was born, it was taken away from the couple for no reason. They didn't even get to see what the infant looked like at first. After waiting for a few hours, the two finally got their baby back. But after seeing what she looked like, they could understand stand why they had to take her away for a bit. She appeared to be some kind of pony-dragon hybrid, with white and pink scales, a purple and light violet mane and tail, and light green eyes that represented the one on her parents. The couple was speechless. No pony has ever seen anything like this before, and they were lucky enough to actually be the loving parents of it. But after a few moments of silence, the unicorn of the pair said something that made the two keep her as their child. “S-s-she's beautiful.” The other couple spent their first few years living together just doing what they have been doing for most of their lives: helping other ponies get their cutie marks with Sweetie Belle. It was their special talent after all, as they all shared a similar cutie mark. However, the two soon eventually realized that things felt a bit quieter since they got married. And while they did like it sometimes, they also thought a bit of noise is needed from time to time. So, they both went down to the the local orphanage in Ponyville and signed out the papers to adopt one the children living there. They wanted a child who was like the two mares put together. Somepony who had a playful side like Scootaloo, but also knew when to be serious like Applebloom. Thankfully, the two found the perfect child to take into their lives, and that’s the young colt be held in Scootaloo's wing as they walk down the street as they took him to his new home. He was a young pegasus colt, who had light yellow fur and wings, a dark red mane and tail, and orange eyes, similar to the ones shared by his one of his new guardians. “He’s perfect,” Scootaloo whispered into her Applebloom’s ear. “Just perfect.” “Tough Slice,” Applebloom called out through the colt’s bedroom door. “It's time to get up! Your first day of school is today!” Tough Slice’s eyes slowly opened, but then immediately closed due to the sun shining at him through his bedroom window. He stirred underneath the warm covers of his bed before throwing them off of his sweating body. Ignoring the light shining in his eyes, he slowly began to get out of bed and head towards the kitchen. Once there, he saw Applebloom preparing some cereal in a small bowl, while Scootaloo was reading the newspaper while drinking some coffee from a white mug. “Good morning Tough Slice,” Scootaloo said, not looking away from her paper. “You ready to start your first day of school?” “Yeah, I guess.” the colt answered. “You guess? What's that supposed to mean,” Applebloom asked. “Do you think you aren't going to do well in class?” “No.” Tough Slice answered once again. “Do you not know where the school is?” Scootaloo asked, finally looking away from her newspaper. “No.” “Well, what's the problem? You can tell us.” Applebloom said. Tough Slice sighed. “I don't think I can make any friends.” The two mares looked at each other with confused looks before Scootaloo spoke up again. “Well, that's not that big of a problem.” “Scootaloo's right,” Applebloom added. “Son, I just know that today, you will make at least one friend while you're at school.” “And how do you know that?” Tough Slice asked his guardian. “Because after breakfast, we’re all going to see one of our best friends,” Applebloom answered. “And she has a young daughter around your age who is also starting her first day of school.” “So, you want me to be friends with her so I won't feel alone?” “Well yes,” the earth pony replied. “I'm sure she's she’ll be more than happy to be her friend.” “Applebloom,” Scootaloo finally spoke up. “Can I please speak with you in our bedroom?” “Alright,” Applebloom looked down at her son before putting his cereal on the table and pouring milk into the bowl. “You eat up Tough Slice. We’re leaving in around fifteen minutes.” “Okay.” Tough Slice said as he got onto his chair and began to eat the wet flakes in the bowl with a spoon. Scootaloo dragged her wife into another room. “Are you sure you wanna do this?” “I'm certain,” the other mare answered. “It’ll be great to for Tough Slice to have at least one new friend.” "Well, I guess you're right,” Scootaloo said. “But what if he doesn't react very well? What he begins to make fun of her instead of be friends with her? What if he--” Applebloom cut the pegasus off by putting a hoof onto her lips. “That won't happen. We both know how nice our son is. He would never make fun of anypony who looks weird. Now please, for the love of Celestia, calm down.” Scootaloo moved the hoof away from her mouth before sighing. “Alright. It's just, I'm just still a bit nervous about what's going to happen.” Applebloom began to think of what to say before an idea popped into her head. With a slight grin, she said. “I think I know what will make you change your mind.” Oh yeah, and what is it?” Scootaloo asked before Applebloom place her lips onto hers. The eyes of the pegasus went wide for a few seconds, before they slowly closed and she began to enjoy the kiss. After minute or two, Applebloom pulled away, breathing heavily. “So know,” she said. “If he does end up making friends with her, then maybe tonight I’ll give you something really friendly.” “Oh really,” Scootaloo replied, rubbing her hooves on her wife's shoulders. “What is it?” “It's a surprise.” Applebloom answered as she began to leave the room towards the kitchen. Once there, she saw Tough Slice still sitting in his chair, reading a comic book. “Alright Tough Slice, it's time to get going.” “Oh alright,” the clot said as he put the book on the table and slid out of his chair. He walked up to Applebloom, who was now at the door. “Say goodbye to Scoots now Slice,” Applebloom said to her son. “She won't be coming with us.” “Bye guys,” Scootaloo called out from the other room. “Have a great first day at school!” “Okay.” Tough Slice replied as he and his guardian walked out the door. > Chapter 2: Asking A Friend For Help > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Now son,” Applebloom said as the two walked down the streets of Ponyville. “I want you to be really nice to this, uhh, filly.” “Of course,” Tough Slice replied. “Why won't I be?” “Well, how do I put this,” Applebloom said. “It's because she isn't like other ponies in town.” “What do you mean by that,” the colt asked. “Is she mean?” Applebloom's eyes widened. “Oh, no no no! She's very nice. She wouldn't hurt anypony.” “Well, what's the problem?” Sweat slowly began to form on Applebloom's forehead as her eyes looked from one place to another. “Uhh, S-she is, uhh.” she tried to say, but was at a lost for words. As she stuttered, she saw that her destination is up ahead. She let out a sigh of relief. “Oh, would you look at that? We're here!” “But you didn't tell me.” Tough Slice said as they approached the door to the house. “Oh, you’ll find out once you see her.” Applebloom told him as she gave the door a few knocks. After a few seconds of waiting, the doorknob turned and the door opened, revealing a familiar looking mare. “Oh, hi Applebloom,” Sweetie Belle said to her friend. “How are you today?” “I'm doing great Sweetie Belle.” Applebloom answered. Sweetie soon looked down and noticed the colt standing next to her guardian. “And my this young colt be?” “Oh, that's Tough Slice,” Applebloom once again answered. “He’s my son.” “Oh that's great,” Sweetie replied. “Why don't you two come inside? I can make some coffee.” “Why thanks Sweetie Belle,” the earth pony said as the entered her friend’s home. “Where's Spike?” “Oh, he’s out helping Twilight,” Sweetie answered. “Something about her needing his assistant for a bit, it's weird.” “Well, she is the princess after all,” Applebloom said. “Anyways, I have something to ask you, and it involves your daughter.” Sweetie raised an eyebrow at this. “My daughter? What do you need her for?” “Well first off, where is she?” Applebloom asked. “She's in her room,” Sweetie Belle answered. “But why do you need her?” Applebloom looked down at her son, who rubbed the back of his head with his hoof. She then looked back at Sweetie. “Well, since it's the first day of school for both of our children, I was hoping that they could get to know each other better. Maybe even become friends.” Sweetie Belle let out a sigh of relief. “Oh, that's what you needed her for? I would love for them to become friends. Do you want me to get her right now?” “Yes, that would be great.” Applebloom answered. As the earth pony went to take a seat in her friend's living room with her pegasus son who had put his saddlebags on the ground, Sweetie Belle called out to the other resident of her home. “Bedazzled! Can you come out here for a second?” “Coming mom!” a voice replied from another room. A few seconds later, a young pony-dragon hybrid walked into the living room. Her eyes first focused on her mother sitting on one couch, then on the two guests sitting on the other. “Bedazzled, you remember Applebloom, don't you?” Sweetie Belle asked her daughter. “Yeah, I do.” Bedazzled answered. “Well, she has something to ask you, don't you?” Sweetie said, looking back at Applebloom. “Yes, I do,” the earth pony said, clearing her throat. “Bedazzled, would you mind walking with my son, Tough Slice, to school today? He’s a bit nervous about making new friends.” Bedazzled turned her gaze onto Tough Slice, who was sitting silently next to her mother. He noticed her looked at him, so he waved his hoof to her. The pony-dragon hybrid waved back, smiling. “Okay, I’ll walk to school with him,” she said. “He seems nice.” “Okay, thanks a ton Bedazzled,” Applebloom said to her friend’s daughter. “I knew I could count on you.” Sweetie Belle looked over her shoulder to look at the clock in her wall. It read 8:04. “Oh my Celestia, you two got to get going! School starts in ten minutes!” Sweetie shouted before running into the kitchen. A few seconds later, she came levitating a white saddlebag with her magic. “Okay, I gave you all the basic stuff you’ll need at school. Pencils, erasers, paper, and a lunch bag.” Sweetie placed the saddlebag on her daughter’s back. “Have a great first day at school. Your father should be here when get back.” “Okay, thanks mom,” Bedazzled replied before giving her mother a quick peck on the cheek. She turned to Tough Slice. “C’mon, let's get going!” “Alright,” Tough Slice said as he got up from the couch and grabbed his own saddlebag of the ground, putting it on his back. “Bye Tough Slice,” Applebloom said to her son. “Have a great first day.” “Bye.” Tough Slice called back as he and Bedazzled walked out the door to go to their first day of school. Once they were gone, Applebloom looked at her friend, how now had given her a cup a freshly brewed coffee. “I’m glad your son was able to friends with my daughter,” Sweetie said as she took a slip of her coffee. “Don't jinx it just yet Sweetie Belle,” Applebloom warned her. “We’ll just have to wait until the end of the day to find out if they truly did.” “Yeah, I guess you're right,” the unicorn said. “Still, I just hope they do become friends.” “Me too,” Applebloom said, sipping her own coffee. “But there's somepony who wants those two be friends more than you or I, and that's Scootaloo.” Sweetie Belle raised an eyebrow. “Really? Why does she want them to be friends the most?” “Well,” Applebloom began, sweat starting to fall from her head as her face turned to a shade of red similar to her own mane. “Let's just say that me and Scootaloo kind of made a deal.” “What kind of deal?” Sweetie Belle asked, drinking some more coffee. “A deal that involves us me and Scoots doing something fun. Really fun.” Applebloom answered, slightly grinning. “Oh, are you going to take her out on another date?” Sweetie asked. “Or maybe see a movie? Or buy her something nice that she'll love?” Applebloom’s suddenly frowned at the sight of her friend not knowing what she's talking about. “No Sweetie Belle. It's something extra special then any of those. Something me and Scootaloo haven’t done in a long time.” Sweetie put her hoof to her chin and thought about what other options were left, but nothing came to her mind. “Okay, I got nothing. What are you two going to do if our children become friends?” Applebloom sighed. “Sweetie, me and Scootaloo are going to have sexual intercourse.” Sweetie stared at Applebloom, still somewhat confused about what she just said. “Huh?” “Me and Scootaloo are going to have sex.” Applebloom answered, a bit of annoyance in her voice. “Oh, now I understand,” Sweetie said, giggling to herself. “Well, I hope you two have the best sex of your life!” “Sweetie,” Applebloom said with even more annoyance in her voice, but calmed down a bit after drinking some more coffee. “I hope you're right. Me and Scootaloo haven't done any kind of mating in a long time.” “When's the last time you guys did it?” Sweetie asked. “I think it was around a few months before we adopted Tough Slice,” the earth pony answered. “In fact, now that I think about it, that's the only time me and her had any kind of intercourse.” “Well, why haven't you two done any kind of sex since then?” Sweetie Belle once again asked, finishing the coffee in her cup. “I guess it's because we've been extremely busy recently. Not only do we both have to take care of Tough Slice, but we also have our jobs to do as well. So, I guess I just want to get back into the bedroom with Scootaloo and finally do something I haven't done in a long time.” “Well, I hope you two are able to do it,” Sweetie said, a smile now on her face. “So, are we going to go back to your house and begin working?” “Eh, I was thinking about actually taking the day off today. You can still come over to our place, but we'll just talk and do some other things. What do you say?” “Sure, why not,” Sweetie answered. “I guess we could use a day off every once in awhile. I mean, it's not like we're all working for some big job that gives us very little money. We're just three friends that share similar cutie marks and help others find what their special talent is for a small, but well paid price.” “Yeah, you’re right,” Applebloom replied, sipping up the last bits of coffee left in her own cup. “We could just spend the day talking and doing other things around town. Just you, me, and Scootaloo.” “Well, what are we waiting for? Let's get going!” Sweetie jumped off her couch and headed for the door, Applebloom right behind her. The two of them walked out the door into the streets of Ponyville, taking in the bright sun shining over them before heading down to Applebloom’s home. > Chapter 3: First Day Problems > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “So,” Bedazzled said to the colt beside her. “You excited to start your first day of school?” Tough Slice shrugged. “I guess. I just hope to make some friends while there. I never had anypony my age to hang out with.” “Why's that?” Bedazzled asked. “Well, I guess it's because I was always a bit shy,” the colt replied. “I just never thought anypony would be my friend because of it.” Bedazzled stared at the colt, who was now looking at the ground in complete sadness. Even though they had just met a few minutes ago, she already felt bad for him, and she didn't know exactly why. “Well, if it makes you any better, I’ll be your friend,” she said, making Tough Slice look at her. “You seem like a nice pony to be around.” Tough Slice felt his cheeks burning up as they began to turn a shade of red. “Thank you,” he said. “I’ve wanted a friend for so long. I just hope it’ll last.” “Oh, I know we can,” Bedazzled replied. “We just need to stick together. That's how all friendships last.” “Yeah, you’re right,” Tough Slice said. He turned his head to see the local schoolhouse coming into view. “Hey, there's the school! Let's get going! We don't want to be late!” “Okay, let's go!” Bedazzled said before running with the colt towards the building. After a minute or two, they both showed up at the school. There wasn't any other fillies or colts outside, so they had to guess they were inside the building. There was only one other pony outside, and she was standing at the door to the school. She was a dark shade of purple, with a pink mane and tail, green eyes, and a cutie mark consisting of three flowers with happy smiles. “Oh, hello there you two,” the mare said to the pair. “Are you new students?” “Yes, we are miss.” Tough Slice answered. “Oh, great. I just love getting new students in my classroom,” the mare replied. “Oh, where are my manners? I am Miss Cherilee. I will be your teacher.” “Nice to meet you Miss Cherilee,” Bedazzled said. “We can't wait to start up our first year of school!” “Great. Now, before you two can head in, I have two questions for you both.” “Alright. As long as we can get to learning, we'll answer them,” Bedazzled replied. “So, what are the questions?” “First of, what are your names?” Cherilee asked. “My name is Tough Slice,” the colt answered. “And this is Bedazzled.” “Alright,” Cherilee said. “And what are the names of your parents? Just in case in need to send somepony here if you get in huge trouble or something like that.” “Okay,” Tough Slice said. “Well, my parents are Applebloom and Scootaloo.” “And my parents are Sweetie Belle and Spike.” Bedazzled added. “Okay great,” the teacher said. “You know, I used to teach some of your parents.” “Really?” Tough Slice asked. “Of course. I still remember teaching them to this day. They were all quite the unique pair of ponies. I hope you two follow in their hoofsteps.” “Oh, we’ll try.” Bedazzled said with a smile. “Great,” Cherilee replied. “Now go on inside so we can began class.” The two did what the teacher told them, walking into the school and seeing the large group of students of different colours and sizes, all chatting with each other. Tough Slice and Bedazzled immediately headed to two empty seats at the back of the classroom. “You ready to start class?” Bedazzled asked the clot next to her. “Yeah, I guess I'm ready.” Tough Slice replied. After a few hours of math, english and other subjects, the fillies and colts of the classroom were finally let out for the day. They all went to do different things, whether it be going to the large playground, or heading into the streets of Ponyville to return to their homes. “You know,” Tough Slice said to his friend as they walked outside the school. “For a first day, that wasn't half bad.” “See what I told you? It would be great.” Bedazzled replied. “So, are we heading to my house or yours?” Tough Slice asked. Bedazzled thought about what he asked for a few seconds before answering. “Let's go to my house. My dad should be there, and you can meet him.” “Okay cool,” the colt said. “I would love to meet your dad. I’be heard a lot about him.” As the two continued walked away from the school, two fillies were staring at them with disgusted looks on their faces. One was a earth pony with a pink coat, a brown mane and tail, brown eyes, and a cutie mark of a jewelry box. The other filly was a pegasus with a light blue coat, a grey mane and tail, light purple eyes, and a cutie mark of a pink heart with a white feather overtop of it. “Sheesh, look at her,” the pink filly said to her friend. “At least put that thing on a leash. Right Flying Heart?” “Oh most definitely Rich Chip,” the pegasus answered. “And look at that colt next to her. Why is he walking instead of flying? Does he not notice those tiny wings on his back?” “Oh I did him too,” Rich Chip replied. “Those two look like such a bland pair of friends, that they are just begging to made fun of. What do you say? Shall we?” “Oh yes. Let's go.” Flying Heart said as she began to flap her wings and start to hover off the ground towards her victims with her friend. “Hey, you two,” Rich Chip called out to ponies walking in front of her, causing them to stop in their tracks. “Yeah, I’m talking to you!” “Yes, what would you like?” Tough Slice asked as he turned around with Bedazzled. “Oh, nothing,” Flying Heart said, hovering a few inches in front of them. “We just say you two in our class today and thought we tell you something that almost everypony should know.” “Well, what is it?” Bedazzled spoke up, before Rich Chip walked up to her a said something into her ear that made her blood run cold. “Pets aren't allowed at school.” She gasped as she took a few steps away from the pony, who now has a evil grin on her face. “I am not a pet! I'm just like any other pony in town!” “Oh, sure you are,” Flying Heart said, putting her hoof on Bedazzled’s sides, rubbing it from one end to the other. “Because all ponies in town have thick scales like yours.” “Hey, leave her alone.” Tough Slice said, pulling Bedazzled away from the two bullies. “Oh, how cute,” Rich Chip giggled. “The crazy pegasus colt coming to save his pet abomination. This is too much.” “Yeah, it's just as funny as him not using those tiny little wings,” Flying Heart added. “I mean seriously! Can you even fly?” Tough Slice sighed. “I just choose not to fly. I don't feel like doing it.” This made the bullies laugh. “Yeah, right. Like anypony decides whether or not they can fly. They either can fly or can't.” “You’re right Flying Heart. It’s just like deciding whether or not to keep a child. However, I think this creature’s parents chose the wrong option!” Rich Chip said, pointing a hoof at Bedazzled. The pony-dragon hybrid gasped in shock, before her face melted into one of sadness. Tears began to fall her eyes as she cried quietly into her hooves. “Well, we best be going,” Flying Heart said. “We’ve got a lot to do today. Right Rich Chip.” “Right. Let's go.” Rich Chip answered before walking away from the two. Tough Slice looked at Bedazzled, who was still crying into her hooves. He felt bad for her. She was his first friend, and he is now sobbing in front of him. He pulled her into an embrace, holding her tightly as she tried to stop crying. “It's alright Bedazzled,” he said in a soothing voice. “It doesn't matter what they say. They're just trying to get under your scales.” “I t-t-think they d-did,” Bedazzled said through her tears. “I-I just want t-to go h-home.” “Okay, we can,” Tough Slice said as they began to walk down the street, his hoof still around her as she continued to cry. “That's it. Let it out. It’ll be all over soon.” When they got to Bedazzled’s home, the first thing they noticed was a note taped to the door. It read as follows: “Dear Bedazzled, I have a few more things to do at Twilight’s Castle, so I won't return until a little while later. Mom should be at Applebloom’s house working, so she should be back soon. I hope you understand. Love, Dad." Reading the note made Bedazzled let out a sigh. “Of c-course he’s s-still w-working.” she said, trying to hold back more tears. “It's alright,” Tough Slice said, getting his friend to look at him. “We can go to my house. We can tell our parents about what happened.” “O-okay. Let's go.” Bedazzled said as they began to head to their destination.
