> Reigniting The Flame > by Melody Flare > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Leaving > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Aria, it's been two weeks since they shattered our pendants and I don't know anyway to get our voices back, do you have any ideas," said Adagio, as she entered the living room. Adagio scanned the room for the purple siren, who was slouched on their couch watching TV. "So now you want my opinion Dazzle, after losing our voices and being rendered powerless." Aria said as she stood up, facing Adagio. "Yes, I want your opinion, now help me think of some plans." Adagio began. "You're the only one who is anywhere near as smart as me." "What do you mean, by near." said Aria, with her anger now rising. "Well..." Adagio began, casually pushing Aria out of her way. "You're not smarter than me, but on the bright side you are smarter than Sonata" sneered Adagio as she grabbed her hairbrush. "Dazzle, you say you're smarter than me, but YOU'RE the reason we're here in the first place, YOU'RE the reason we lost our powers, and lastly we have nothing left in this miserable world because of YOU." yelled Aria as she turned to leave, leaving a stunned Adagio. Adagio quickly recovered and threw her brush at Aria, hitting her in the back of the head. "You think it's easy leading you two idiots, trust me, if my voice was stronger I would've left both of you to rot in jail." yelled Adagio as she grabbed Aria's arm. "Sonata and I were in jail because you went straight to Celestia and Luna and left us to save yourself after you found out our song didn't work on them." yelled Aria, pulling her arm away. "I escaped, because if I was captured, no one would have saved you and you would still be jail." said Adagio following Aria. "You're the reason we were there in the first place." Aria yelled, face palming. "At least I tried to get stronger, unlike you who only complains and is useless without her voice." Adagio yelled back. "Leave me alone, Dazzle." Aria cried as she rubbed the back of her head. "I'm going back to school." she said as you grabbed a bag and started heading towards the door. "Why, no one wants you there," remarked Adagio. "Last time I checked, you are one of the sirens who tried to take over the school." Adagio said, as she faced at the finally broken siren. "I didn't ask for this, I didn't ask to join you." said Aria trying to hold back her tears. "I'm not going for friends, I'm going to look for something I forgot." muttered Aria, slamming the door behind her. As Aria walked down the street, she noticed all the blooming flowers. They remind me of home. Aria thought. She quickly remembered she was on a mission and she had to complete it. "Ari, hey Ari." said a familiar voice. Crap Aria thought. She quickly looked for somewhere to hide. Just as she was about jump behind a tree, she was greeted by a bear hug from a blue-haired girl. "Hey Ari, why'd you pretend to hide when you heard me, also why is Dagi angry, and why do you have a bag......" Sonata rambled. "S-Sonata, y-you're c-crushing m-me." Aria wheezed, trying to pull away from Sonata. "That's silly Aria, I'm not crushing you, I'm hugging you." Sonata laughed, letting go of Aria. "You have iron grip stupid, and I wasn't pretending." said Aria, catching her breath. "Whatever Aria, you know you love me, and what did Dagi say about doing that voice." said Sonata as she pulled out a taco from her pocket. "This is my voice, and I hate you more than ever." said Aria in disgust. "No, your voice is high and cute. You just do that raspy voice to sound tougher." said Sonata, throwing the taco on the ground. She grabbed Aria and ran to the statue in front of Canterlot High. "Why did you bring me here." Aria demanded, ignoring what Sonata said. "Dagi told me you wanted to go to the school and pick something up, call me when you pick it up," Sonata stated proudly, as she left. "Wait Sonata...thanks....I'll miss you." Aria said, realizing she said it in her real voice. "I mean, whatever, and tell Dazzle this isn't over." Aria said in her tougher voice. Aria entered the school and thought Where is it. She entered the library where she would ditch math. She found a ladder and pulled it towards the fourth bookshelf. Once she got on, she searched the top shelf Yes!!!she thought. > Fear > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm so glad it's still here. Aria thought as she held the wrapped book in her hands. Adagio and Sonata would've never understood why I still kept this. she thought as she unwrapped the book and smiled. Silver Comet and Cherry Cupcake if only I had you guys. Aria wished she still had her pony friends. Then she heard the doors open and before she could hide, she heard a voice. "What are you doing here!?!" yelled the janitor, as he went towards Aria. "I-I left something here, and came back to get it." explained the frightened siren. What is going on with me, two weeks ago I would have kicked the dude in the nards and ran, and since when do I care about anything? Aria asked herself. For once Aria didn't know what to do. "Why are you not in class, it's third period." he smiled, as he sat down next to her. "D-Do not know who I am?" asked a confused Aria. How does he not know me, Like Adagio said: I'm one of the three girls who tried to take over the school. Aria wondered. "I'm sorry, I don't know you. Should I?" he asked, smiling. "N-No, I was just wondering why you were being nice. I'll go to class now." said Aria forcing a smile. She started heading towards the door, when "Wait, I'll take you. I'll tell your teacher you were helping me in the cafeteria." he said, as he stood and walked towards her. "Mr. Shine, Miss. Cheerilee wanted me to ask you where the extra chairs are." asked a familiar girl with hair that reminded Aria of bacon. "I'll take you to the chairs, after I take this girl to class." he said, gesturing to Aria. "A-Aria, what are you doing here?" asked a surprised Sunset Shimmer. Before Sunset could react Aria ran. I can't tell her, I have to get out of here.Aria ran down the halls until she saw the doors. Just a few more steps and then I can get as faraway from this hell. Aria thought to herself. She ran through the front doors, but she couldn't stop. Aria knew Sunset was behind her, unaware that she was about to smack full force into the statue. Aria expected pain, but she went through the statue. Is this the portal, are you kidding me!!!! We could've went through the mirror whenever we wanted!?! Aria thought mentally kicking herself, but then she remembered her pendant was shattered. In the human world it was an accessory, but in Equestria it was part of her body. At least I'll finally be free. I could finally be with all of you. Aria finally let her tears out, tears that had not fallen in over one thousand years. It felt good to let go of her emotions, to accept herself for who she was instead of what everybody wanted her to be. Aria was free and was ready for whatever was waiting on the other side. > New Body > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Aria landed on the other side face first and looked around her.Where am I? she thought as she tried to stand up but fell. Why can't I stand and why are my hooves different let alone bigger. Aria turned around to face the mirror and saw herself, I'm one of them!!! but how, I'm a siren not a pony. Aria felt as if she could scream, but stopped herself once she heard a voice and hid behind the mirror. "Twilight, I heard something. It came from this room, d-do you thing that someone from the human world accidently went through the portal?" asked a voice, as he entered the room. Trust me buddy, I really didn't expect today, let alone changing species and returning to the world of talking horses Aria thought, trying to regain her thoughts. Unaware to her, the journal she brought with her was lying on the floor in front of the mirror. "I know Spike, if somepony came through, it would be hard to explain it to them." replied Twilight. Celestia, why me. Out of anywhere in Equestria, I get sent here. Aria thought really hoping Twilight would leave. "Twilight, look at this. It was this journal that came through." NO, NO, leave it, don't take it Aria wanted to jump out and take it, but she also remembered she's powerless here. All she could do was stay still and pray they leave it there. "Spike, do you know what this is!!!" exclaimed an excited Twilight. "It's a book, Twilight. You literally have hundreds of them. Why is this one special." said a bored Spike. WHY...it is a... "...journal that tells..." ...the story of Equestria... "...and perfect recollections of life during the early rule of The Two Sisters!!!" Not to mention... "Drawings, a diary of a siren, and..." Spells from Starswirl the bearded's private library. Aria wanted to die, now her journal was in the hooves of Twilight Sparkle. It was not easy getting those spells and stories, Aria's life work was revealed. "Spike, this is Amazing. Just think about it. This has spells that were lost. Illustrations of plants, animals, and places. Even in the human world. Celestia would want to know about this!" Twilight as she ran off, followed by Spike. No, this can't be happening. I spent centuries protecting that thing. Aria thought as she stepped out and looked at herself. "Well if I'm going to live in Equestria I got to make a checklist." she groaned. Aria looked up again, I'm not staying down, I waited years to get back to Equestria. Now I just have to wait until I can get the book. she thought while walking around, looking for the exit. Besides, I need to remember who I am. Number one: I'm a siren, a creature who feeds on negative energy. Number two: they won't recognize me, she never saw my cutie mark and they'll be looking for a siren not a pony. and Number three: without Adagio and Sonata, I don't show emotions. I won't lose myself in this body. Aria wasn't here for friends, she was here for here book and she will get it back. All she had left to do was come up with a new name. I'm just gonna make up a name, maybe Ember Song. That works. as she did a turn she crashed into a pony. "I'm so sorry, I didn't see where I was going." said a unknown voice. Aria groaned, knowing full well she'll have to use her real voice in order to fool Twilight. Great, my real voice is so sweet and cute. Remember Aria, why you're doing this. "Oh no, it's my fault. I'm new here, and I was told this was a library. That and I have nothing to do." Aria said, trying to hold back her disgust, she hated her voice because it made her sound cute and weak. Once she saw the pony's face, both mares gasped in astonishment. "You..." "...look..." "...just..." "...like..." "...me.." How does she look like me, well almost. The only difference is my wings and her horn. Aria thought. "My name is Ember Song, do you know where Twilight is." Aria said smiling. "My name is Starlight Glimmer, and I don't sorry." said the mare. "But I can show you the exit." "How did you know, I was looking for an exit?" Aria asked, as she helped up Starlight Glimmer. "Well, you're new, so I'd guess you would be lost." Starlight replied. Before Aria questioned her, they were at the exit. "Thank you." said Aria as she head towards the town. > Familiar Faces > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- After leaving Twilight's castle, Aria went sightseeing around Ponyville to get to know where she'll be living until she gets her journal back. And I thought Sonata's room was bad. she thought as she saw all of the ponies casually enjoying their day. I should've eaten something before I got sent here. Aria wondered around the town, attracting attention on her until something crashed into her, causing Aria and all the of her stalkers to look angrily at the pony responsible. "Hey watch it!" Aria yelled at the pony, "couldn't you see me walking." She said calming down. "You watch it, I was racing a friend of mine to the Cake's Bakery !" She yelled back, at the annoyed Aria. "Hey Rainbow Dash, who are you talking to?" asked a pink pony appearing from who knows where. "Oh...you met someone new. Hi there, I'm Pinkie Pie, what is your name?" "My...name is...Ember Song, and yes, I'm new." Aria answered. Oh heck no, it's their Sonata. Now I really need to get out of here. she thought, looking for somewhere to run. "Do you want to come with us to the bakery? Who knows you may have a blast." giggled Pinkie, grabbing Aria and walking to the bakery. Man, just like Sonata, she has no understanding of personal space. Aria thought, looking at all the buildings. Aria always wanted to visit towns, but Adagio would always so that that would just be a waste of time, and that they had important things to do. However, that didn't stop Aria from sneaking out at night with her journal and she would write down what she did as well as sketch her surroundings. The journal was the only thing she had left and now, it too was gone just like her pendant, her voice, and....Silver. Aria missed her friend, He was the only one who ever understood her, well Silver and Cherry, Cherry was more of a sister to Aria, and Aria remberered the last time she saw her friends. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Meanwhile~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Princess Celestia, thank you for coming so suddenly." Twilight said, levitating the journal to Celestia. "It's my pleasure Princess Twilight. If this book is what you say it is, then..." Celestia began, looking at the faded cover. "it would be priceless. Ancient Spells, and historical accounts of Equestria through the point of view of a siren no less!" Celestia said, holding back her excitement. As they opened the journal, a page fell out and causing Twilight and Celestia to both look at the page "Who are they?" asked Twilight. putting to page back into the book. "I don't know, I've never seen those foals before. There's one more question: who's journal is this." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Back to Aria~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "So, Ember, where are you from?" asked Rainbow Dash as she drank her milkshake. "I'm from... Canterlot." Aria thought quickly. She tried to stay focused on their questions, but she kept wondering about her book and Twilight. "I was tired of all the snobby ponies." Aria said remembering the ponies of Canterlot. Adagio liked it there, so much negative energy and if Adagio had been a pony, she would've been from Canterlot. "Why haven't you flown? Are you injured, or tired?" Dash asked, looking at Aria's wings. "My wings?" Aria asked confused. "Oh, I....sprained a wing." she said, now rubbing her left wing. Aria felt so stupid, how could she forget she had wings. Aria turned to face Pinkie who had already drank four milkshakes. and was less than halfway through her fifth. Just like Sonata.....wait did I just...do...I...miss...her. > Flash Back > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The journal was the only thing she had left and now, it too was gone just like her pendant, her voice, and....Silver. Aria missed her friend, He was the only one who ever understood her, well Silver and Cherry, Cherry was more of a sister to Aria, and Aria remberered the last time she saw her friends. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Thousands of years ago~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Aria, what did I tell you about going outside, what would everypony say when they see a.....whatever you are." scolded a angry unicorn. "I mean really, look at you." she continued as she walked down the halls, leaving a sad Aria at the entrance. "What'd you do this time Aria." asked a pink filly, who was coming in. Aria grabbed a towel and gave it to her, for her to dry off from the harsh rain outside. "Nothing, Cherry, I just wanted to go outside and play in the rain just like you." Aria replied, looking at the approaching thunderstorm. "Looks like it was fun out there. The Pegasi must be working overtime." Aria said, laughing. Aria always felt at home in the water, but she didn't know why, let alone what she was. Aria wondered why she had never met another pony who looked like her, she eventually guessed that they may be underwater and she was the only one above the water. "What are you thinking about, Aria?" asked a silver colt, who was drenched in water. Aria laughed before getting him a towel. "The storm, and Miss. Rich yelling at you for getting her carpet all wet." Aria said raising an eyebrow. The idea of Miss. Rich looking at the wet carpet with teary eyes and yelling Silver Comet, and Silver giving that look of his made Aria want to laugh again. "Well anyway... what does she know anyway Aria, Oh look at me, I'm Miss Rich and I'm a big meanie, and I don't like fun." Cherry said in her best imitation. "Besides why is she even in charge of an orphanage, if she doesn't like us anyway." Cherry said, walking down the hall with the others. Cherry looked at the other two and smiled. "At least we have each other. In fact..." she began as she grabbed the other two and pulled them into the lounge room. "I promise I'll always cherish you two." putting her hoof out. "I promise I'll always protect you girls." Silver said, winking at Aria (making her blush). He the put his hoof out above Cherry. "I...promise rain or snow I'll always be here." Aria said, finally putting her hoof in the center. "Always..." Cherry began. "...and..." Silver continued. "...forever." Aria concluded. All three smiled and Aria went to the window to look at the storm, followed by Silver. "It's beautiful, looking at the falling rain." Aria said. "I've seen prettier." Silver said following her gaze. Aria turned to face him with a confused look on her face. "Oh really, and what is, may I ask." Aria said, feeling that weird feeling she always felt when she was with Silver. It was weird, she never felt it before or knew what it was, but she knew one thing. She would drop anything or help him even if she'd get hurt in the process. Why would I rather be here with him, than anywhere else or anypony else she thought. "You, Aria." he said, shyly smiling at her. "I..." Aria began. She looked at Cherry's face, and realized something. She's... "...sorry, I don't feel the same way." Aria lied, avoiding eye contact. She walked over to Cherry and smiled. "Cherry is the one you should like." she smiled as she walked to her room. "It's better this way, sure I may like him, but Cherry is more deserving of him than me. There'll never be anypony else like her." Aria convinced herself. "Besides I'm not a pony, I'll never fit in." she said to herself as she lied down on her bed and closed her eyes. Mommy, were are you?" asked a frightened Aria, fighting the storm to swim up to the surface, frantically searching for her mother. "Mommy, where are you?" Aria cried, her tears falling as she finally got on land. Once she arrived on shore she saw a bearded unicorn looking at her sadly. "You're mother is...follow me I'll get you out of the storm." he said as he took Aria with him into the city and into building. "Don't be scared, I'll protect you." giving her a reassuring smile, he knocked on the door. "Who is it at this hour, can't you wait until...Oh Starswirl what is that?" gestured the annoyed pony. "Cashmere, her mother was lost in the storm and she has no one left ," He turned to Aria "This is Cashmere Rich. She'll be in charge of you from now on. " he turned to leave when Aria hugged him. "P-Please don't go, don't leave me alone. I don't want to be alone," Aria cried. "You're never alone my little pony. You're mother's not gone forever either, you'll eventually see her again." He said, leaving Aria with her new caregiver. Aria opened her eyes, wondering why she's had that dream since that night. She didn't want to be in the orphanage anymore, tonight, she'd escape. Aria carefully walked down the stairs, leaving a letter on her bed for Cherry. She checked to make sure Miss. Rich was asleep before she headed out the backdoor and out into the night. Aria had only seen the night sky from the sea, so she was amazed at all the stars and cool feeling of the night sky. "Princess Luna has outdone herself, it's so amazing and beautiful." she said to herself. Once she got far enough away from the city, Aria saw a yellow figure ahead of her and ran to it. As she got closer she heard a song as well as seeing green smoke. What the... she thought looking at the smoke enter the gem of the other being. "A-a-a-aaaa, A-a-a-aaaa, A-a-a-aaaa," the figure sang to her crowd, green smoke entering her gem. Once Aria saw who was singing she realized she looked like her. "Who are you, what are you doing?" Aria ask, feeling her gem glow. Then Aria felt it, the energy was entering her gem, it was...delicious, Aria wanted more. "Singing of course, how do you not know this, it's like sirening 101." she commented. "What, were you raised by ponies or something?" She asked, giving Aria a disgusted look. "You were, weren't you, well what do you think of our audience." "What do you mean, our audience. I don't want to hurt them." Aria gestured at the fighting ponies. Aria wanted to run but her body stayed still, absorbing the energy. "What do you think of our dinner, it's tasty isn't it. Oh, and don't worry we don't hurt them, they hurt each other." She smiled, circling Aria, "Sing with me, what do you say?" Aria's brain was telling her to run back to safety but her body walked up to the siren and immediately started singing. Aria felt herself getting stronger, and enjoyed the feeling of actually being able to eat something that wasn't cold soup. Once they were done singing, she found out the siren was named Adagio. "Did you feel that, my spell was stronger because you joined me, I got to eat more than usual...come with me." Adagio said staring at Aria. She looked at Aria and smiled, knowing Aria enjoyed singing. Aria backed away, "I...can't, I feel bad about making those poor ponies fight. I don't want to ever feel that way again." Aria said crying, thinking about leaving behind her friends. "Find yourself someone else." she sobbed. "I know it hurts at first, but eventually you shut off that part of you, the part that cares. Otherwise you starve, and can't eat without negative energy." Adagio said, "Besides, I wasn't asking you to come, I'll make you if I have to." "I don't want to." Aria replied angrily. "Really, what if I told you what really happened to your mother." Adagio sneered. A year later Aria and Adagio met Sonata, who like Aria was raised by ponies, only she was raised by a family, something Aria never knew. It didn't take long for Adagio to recruit Sonata, considering Sonata didn't notice the fighting, as long as she had food she was happy. Aria however, never stopped thinking about Silver and Cherry, wondering what became of them.
