One night in the Friendship Castle, Starlight Glimmer was in her bedroom tossing and turning in her bed.

*dream world*

Starlight Glimmer found herself all alone in the Changeling kingdom.

"Hello? Twilight? Trixie? Thorax? Anyone?"

No answer.

She was led down a dark and damp path to the throne. 

"What's going on? How did I get here?"

A deep seductive voice said, "Oh you know very well, Starlight Glimmer!"

There was an evil cackle.

A light shone to reveal an angry Queen Chrysalis.

Starlight cried,"Let me out of here! I'm sorry I turned your hive against you, you don't have to be evil!"

Chrysalis got closer to Starlight until she had her cornered at a wall.

The former Changeling queen pinned Starlight to the floor, "YOU FUCKING BITCH! You ruined my life!"

Starlight tried to break free, but Chrysalis was too strong for her, "HELP!!!" 

“I would discourage crying for help, Starlight.” Chrysalis said, "No one can hear you scream in the Changeling kingdom."

Starlight became panic-stricken, "Why are you doing this to me? I offered you to become better but you refused!"

Chrysalis yelled, "SILENCE!!!!!!" Starlight became quiet.

"It's time to drain your love! Say goodbye Starlight Glimmer!"

She started cackling as she began to forcibly zap Starlight.

"NNNNNNOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!"

Starlight woke up screaming and sweating.

She looked around her bedroom for a minute and then she fell back on her pillow.

"Okay Starlight, Queen Chrysalis wants revenge on you, but she’s far away and can’t hurt you. Maybe this is just a bad dream. If not, you can tell Twilight tomorrow.”

She fell back asleep, and this time found herself all alone in her old village.

”My old village? But how? Where is everypony?”

Queen Chrysalis emerged from the shadows cackling.

"I see that you have followed me to your old village, I have a lovely surprise for you." 

She clapped her hands and saw that all of her friends, including Thorax were lying on the ground, dead.

Starlight screamed, "WHAT DID YOU DO?!"

Chrysalis said, "Just getting revenge for what you did to me. I killed all of your precious friends by draining all of their love from them. And now I'll have all the love in the world!!!!"

She began evolving into a larger, more evil Changeling with tentacles and a scarier face.

Starlight backed against a wall.

"Time to give me all of your love!!"  

Before Chrysalis could hurt Starlight, there was a giant gust of wind and Super Queen Chrysalis was blown away.

"Do not be afraid Starlight. I'm here to listen to your problem." Starlight looked up to see Princess Luna standing in Queen Chrysalis's place.

Starlight ran up to her in tears, "Princess Luna! Thank goodness you're here!" Starlight said, "Ever since Chrysalis rejected my friendship offer and swore revenge, I've been having these recurring nightmares where she corners me and forcibly drains my love and even kills me."

Princess Luna said, "Chrysalis is just finding ways to torment you. May I not remind you of the time when-"

"I broke into Twilight's castle, stole Starswirl the Bearded's Time Travel Spell, and used it to repeatedly go back in time and break up Twilight and her friends?" Starlight was now on the ground in a fetal position. "Am I just paranoid?"

Princess Luna said, "No Starlight, I've been in your position before. This is completely normal. I will give you this advice, talk to Twilight and her friends about your nightmares. Tell her I visited you and told you to talk to her."

Starlight got up, "Thanks Princess Luna." she said, "I'm sure they'll help me. I could alse tell my other friends about it."

Princess Luna began to fly away, "I'll let Celestia know too. Remember, don't be afraid!"

Starlight woke up from her dream.

"It's settled. Tomorrow morning, I tell Twilight and the others about my dream. They'll believe me, right? I need to take a walk outside."

She left her room and started to take a walk outside of the castle.

As Starlight walked around the silent town, her breathing became heavier and she became increasingly nervous.

"Maybe I'll tell Trixie first. She was watching me when I defeated Chrysalis."

Meanwhile at Trixie's magic trailer home, she was sleeping when there was a knock at her window.

Starlight was banging on the door, "Trixie! It's Starlight! Please open up!"

Trixie yawned and opened up the window, "Starlight, it's two o'clock in the morning." She grumbled, "why are you even here?"

"It's about Queen Chrysalis."

Trixie gasped, "Is she back for revenge?!"

Starlight said, "No she's not. But I'm very worried she is. Ever since I defeated her a few months ago, I've been having these recurring nightmares where she comes back and drains all of my love away. But not before she kills all of my friends and family."

"Did Princess Luna visit you in your dream?"

Starlight nodded, "She told me to tell Twilight about it, but I didn't want to wake her up. I came to you because I knew you'd have good advice."

Trixie put her hoof on Starlight, "Starlight, you came to the right pony. You are strong and awesome. Chrysalis is just jealous that she doesn't have awesome friends like you. You can take her, even if it ends badly, I'll be right there with you."

Starlight smiled, "Thanks Trixie. You're the best friend ever. One more question, will you spend the night with me in the castle?"

"Why?"

Starlight blushed, "I'm too scared to sleep alone with my nightmares."

Trixie was at first confused and then she began to blush, "Sure, but I don't have a sleeping bag on my hoofs so we'll sleep in your bed together."

"That could work."

The two unicorn friends went back to Starlight's room in the castle.

As they got into Starlight's bed, Starlight said, "What if Twilight and the others think I'm being paranoid and don't believe me?"

Trixie yawned, "They will, trust me. Goodnight Starlight."

"Night Trixie."

The two friends fell asleep together in Starlight's bed.

The next morning, Twilight woke up in her castle, "What a beautiful day for spring cleaning around the castle."

Spike yawned, "You may be happy to clean and organize the castle, but all that dust makes me sneeze and the organizing is pretty boring for a baby dragon."

Twilight smiled, "Oh Spike, everyone knows you're adorable when you sneeze. And you don't have to do all the hard labor this year, Starlight said she would help me."

Spike said, "That's a relief but where is Starlight?"

Twilight and Spike walked down the hallway to Starlight's room, "She's just getting a good night's sleep for today."

She opened the door to find Starlight and Trixie cuddling each other in her bed.

Twilight opened her eyes in shock, "STARLIGHT? Did you have a sleepover without my permission?"

Starlight let go of Trixie and said, "I couldn't sleep last night so I invited Trixie over to make me feel better."

Trixie said, "Hello Twilight, what a lovely morning this is."

Twilight threw Trixie a broom, "Well Trixie, since you love the castle so much, maybe you'd love to help me and Starlight around the castle for spring cleaning."

Starlight said, "We're more than willing to help you Twilight. After last year, I can't wait to do this year with my best friend."

Twilight said, "That's nice. Meet me at the balcony in five minutes for the itinerary."

She and Spike left.

Trixie whispered to Starlight, "You're going to tell her about your nightmare, right?"

Starlight whispered back, "I am, I'm just waiting for the right moment."

A few minutes later, Twilight was showing everyone their plans to clean the castle.

"Okay, I'll organize all of the books in the library, Spike will put all of my scrolls from Princess Celestia in chronological order of the date received, Starlight you will-"

Starlight interrupted, "Twilight can we talk for a minute?"

Twilight said, "Sure, what's wrong?"

Trixie mouthed, "Go on."

Starlight sat down, "I've been having these horrible dreams about Queen Chrysalis coming back to get revenge on me. I'm really worried she'll surprise and kill me by draining my love and ripping my heart out."

Trixie added, "Starlight told me last night too. She doesn't want her friends and family to get hurt by Chrysalis."

Twilight looked at Starlight, "Starlight. Revenge can be a scary thing." she said, "I know Chrysallis vowed to make you pay for defeating you."

Spike added, "And I really doubt she'd go that far to rip your heart out of your body. That's disgusting."

Twilight continued, "It will be okay. I know you're strong enough to defeat her. Even if you fail, we'll be right there behind you."

Spike noticed a snowflake floating in the air, "Hey Twilight." he asked as he pointed to the snowflake, "Is that a snowflake from the Crystal Empire?"

Trixie said, "It is a Crystal Empire snowflake, I recieved one of those yesterday."

The snowflake floated down to Twilight's hoof and she opened it.

"What does it say?"

Dear friends and family,
You are cordially invited to Princess Flurry Heart's 1st birthday in the Crystal Empire. 
The party is all day on the 26th of March. 
There will be games for the birthday filly along with fun for all of the older ponies.
Please bring a present for the baby princess and don't do anything that will get us killed.

Shining Armor and Princess Cadance.

Starlight said, "I can't believe it's Flurry Heart's first birthday. It seems like yesterday she threw a tantrum and it broke the Crystal Heart causing everyone to nearly freeze to death."

Trixie smiled, "I've never met Flurry Heart before. I'll bet she'll be as great and powerful as I was at her age."

Spike asked, "You had crazy unicorn magic as a foal?"

Trixie nodded, "Not Flurry Heart extreme, but it was still powerful."

Twilight smiled, "I have to organize a meeting with the others!"

Starlight asked, "Can we still talk about my nightmare with them?"

"Of course we can."

Pretty soon, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Rarity, and Pinkie Pie had gathered in the Map Room with Twilight and Starlight.

Starlight said, "The reason we called you all here was for my announcement. I've been having nightmares of Queen Chrysalis getting revenge on me for defeating her. She ends up killing all of you guys by draining your love and ripping your hearts out and finally does the same thing to me."

Fluttershy gasped, "Oh dear, that's horrible."

"It is."

Rainbow Dash said, "She actually ripped out hearts out? That's gross!"

Spike chimed in, "That's what I said!"

Applejack nudged Rainbow Dash, "Give her sympathy."

Twilight said, "Starlight, I know what you're going through. When Shining Armor and Cadance were getting married, Chrysalis kidnapped Cadance, tied her up and duct-taped her, put her body behind a dumpster and disguised herself as her. I was the only one out of all of us to first notice what was wrong, but when I tried to expose her at the wedding rehearsal, she pulled off a wounded gazelle gambit and turned everyone against me. Then she took me to Farley’s Cider & Booze Hut where she got me drunk and put a roofie in one of my drinks and when I was uncouncious, she drained all of the love out of me.”

Starlight and Trixie gasped. “Wait were you okay?” Trixie asked.

“I had to go to therapy for almost a year because I had nightmares every night“ Twilight said, “Anyway, I ended up hospitalized and while I was out, the changelings began to invade Canterlot, but Shining Armor and Cadance's love was strong enough to defeat them."

Starlight smiled, "Thank you guys so much for understanding. I know I can always count on you for help."

"No problem Starlight!"

Twilight then used her horn to lift up the invitation, "Now that she's done, I have some exciting news from the Crystal Empire!" She said happily, "Princess Flurry Heart is turning a year old and Shining Armor and Cadance have invited all of us to the Crystal Empire to celebrate."

Pinkie Pie said, "Flurry Heart is a year old now?! Awesome! I'm going to throw her the biggest baby birthday bash ever! We'll have cake, party games, fun, it will be so awesome! I'm gonna ask Mr. and Mrs. Cake if I can bring the twins with me to the party! And I also have to contact Cheese Sandwich!"

She bolted out of the castle bouncing off the walls.

Trixie asked, "Wait, what's Flurry Heart like? I know I'm going to meet her at the party but can I have a little info on her please?"

Twilight explained, "One year ago, Flurry Heart was an alicorn baby born to Shining Armor and Cadance. Her magic was so powerful it ended up shattering the Crystal Heart and we would've froze to death if Starlight's old friend Sunburst hadn't-"

"Wait!" Trixie said as she turned to Starlight, "who is this Sunburst and what does he have to do with you?"

Starlight said, "He's just a friend. There's nothing romantic going on between us."

"Good."

Twilight then announced, "Now, it's time to get ready for Flurry Heart's 1st birthday party!"

Everyone cheered.

It was the night before Flurry Heart's birthday party and Shining Armor and Cadence were sitting on a couch in their common room looking through a photo album they made for themselves in their year with Flurry Heart.

Cadence pointed to a picture that was taken when Flurry Heart was born.

"Here's when Flurry was born. Wasn't that a wonderful day Shining Armor?"

Shining Armor put his hoof around Cadence, "Flurry was the cutest baby ever. And the most powerful alicorn baby in all of Equestria." he said as he pointed to the picture taken at Flurry's Crystalling.

"That day was crazy."

"It sure was."

Other photographs in the album included fun family travels, and holiday celebrations in the Crystal Empire. Shining Armor and Cadence looked at admiration for their little foal at each photograph.

"I want Flurry to have the best birthday ever."

"Me too."

Shining Armor began to call out, "Sunburst!"

Sunburst ran into the room, "What is it your highness?"

"Can you please go outside and look at the party decorations and see if they are in perfect shape for tomorrow?"

"Sure thing your highness." Sunburst said. "Do you also want me to check on Flurry Heart for you?"

Cadence said, "Don't worry Sunburst. We hired a special nanny to watch over our little girl. Nanny Poppins is a special mare. All of the other nannies were unable to handle Flurry's hyperactivity. We were about to give up when she flew into the Crystal Empire asking me and Shining Armor if she could be Flurry's New nanny. We agreed instantly."

Shining Armor said, "She's such a sweetheart."

Sunburst asked, "Are you sure because last week I ran into her while she was carrying Flurry Heart and she called me a-"

Cadence interrupted, "Maybe now is a good time for you to go outside and look at all of the party decorations. We need everything to be perfect for the big day tomorrow."

"Okay your highness."

Sunburst left the castle and went to Crystal Empire's quad.

The entire front of the city was decorated with pink, lavender, and blue streamers and balloons.

"Hey Sunburst!" Party Favor called out from a ladder as he waved to Sunburst, "How do you like my display?"

Sunburst said, "It looks really great. They match Flurry's mane. Do the balloons have Flurry Heart's face and a '#1' on them?"

Party Favor shook his head, "Actually no. But I did end up blowing these balloons with me face on them. You think the little baby will like this?"

He turned over a balloon and it had Party Favor's 'but I didn't listen!' face and a caption that read 'They told me to put the birthday girl's face on this balloon. But I didn't listen!'

Sunburst gave a reluctant 'good job' face and went over to the party game section with Cheese Sandwich.

"Do you have any fun carnival games for all of the foals?"

Cheese Sandwich said, "I have a series of super fantastic party games for all of the foals at the party. First, everyone is going to play a round of musical chairs. But there's a twist, whoever sits on the whoopie cushion is out!"

"Okay..."

"Also, next I have a pin the tale on the human."

Sunburst chimed in, "Human's don't have tails."

Cheese added, "I don't care. I have so much more so you want me to tell you all of them?"

Sunburst shook his head, "I'll just take a list and put it on the itinerary."

Sunburst left as Cheese Sandwich kept talking about his fun plans for tomorrow.

He began reading over the itinerary for the party the next day, "Okay so Party Favor did the decorations, Cheese Sandwich gave me a giant list of foal games, the Cakes of Ponyville will cater the entire event, Vinyl is playing music and-"

As he kept talking, Nanny Poppins was looking at the nerdy unicorn from a window in the nursery.

"Yes. Keep talking you little nerd. I'll deal with the baby." She began snickering.

Flurry Heart began making a strange sound almost like a whining puppy.

Nanny grabbed the baby and said in a very sweet voice, "Aww. Is the wittle pwincess weady to go ni-ni?"

Flurry Heart yawned and fell asleep.

Nanny put Flurry Heart into her crib and started to look over the sleeping princess.

"You're such a cute baby. So much love inside of your little heart. If only you would share it with me."

She kissed Flurry goodnight on her forehead.

"Goodnight Flurry. Tomorrow you'll be a year old."

She began to fall sleep on the crib but was interrupted by Cadence and Shining Armor knocking on the door.

"Hi Miss Poppins can we come in? We want to say goodnight to Flurry. Is it okay with you?"

Miss Poppins was annoyed that she wouldn't be alone with Flurry but said in a fake happy voice, "Sure, you can see the baby. I'll just wait in the hallway."

Nanny went to her chambers as the royal parents went into Flurry's room.

As soon as the coast was clear, the nanny's pony form started to vanish in a flash of light revealing her true form: Queen Chrysallis.

"Getting this babysitting job was just what I needed. I will drain all of that baby's love from her heart and soon I will have enough evil energy to get revenge on Starlight Glimmer!"

She began cackling as Thunder and lightning crashed in the background.

"Tomorrow's going to be a great day."
> The Guests Arrive/The Party Starts

The next day, Flurry Heart woke up in her crib to see Shining Armor and Cadence standing over her.

Cadence lifted up her baby, "Hi sweetie. Happy first birthday."

Flurry Heart gave a big yawn and squeezed her mother's nose.

"Aww Flurry." Shining Armor said, "You have a big day ahead of you. All of your family and friends are coming over soon for your big birthday celebration. You'll get to see Aunt Twily, Grandma and Grandpa, and you get to play with all of your baby friends."

Flurry Heart was so giddy she was flying all over the room.

Nanny Poppins walked in on the pretty scene, "May I see the birthday filly? I have to change and dress her for her party."

"Sure thing, but have her down soon. The guests will be here any minute." said Cadence.

She and Shining Armor left but Nanny called out, "Wait!"

The couple stopped.

"Will Starlight Glimmer be at the party today?"

"Of course," Shining Armor replied, "She's the one who saved Equestria from Queen Chrysalis."

"Perfect." Nanny chuckled for a brief minute but looked up to see Cadence looking at her curiously, "I mean. I can't wait to meet her!"

Cadence said, "Great! Be down with Flurry Heart in ten minutes."

Soon, Nanny was alone with Flurry, "It's time to drain all of the love out of your-" she stopped as her nostrils took in a rancid smell coming from Flurry Heart's diaper.

She put the giggling Flurry on her changing table and groaned, "Right after I change and disinfect the young one."

Meanwhile, the Friendship Express going to the Crystal Empire from Ponyville was packed with partygoers ready to celebrate Flurry's birthday.

Pinkie was bouncing up and down in her seat, "This is going to be the best day ever!" she squealed, "We're gonna arrive in the Crystal Empire and will all be partied up! We'll play games, eat snacks, dance, and sing happy birthday to Flurry Heart! I can hardly wait!"

At her seat, Starlight Glimmer was staring out of the window looking a bit worried.

"Are you okay Starlight?" Trixie asked, seeing how worried her best friend was.

Starlight sighed, "I'm fine. I've just been worried that somehow, Chrysalis will crash the party and exact her revenge on me."

"Did you have another nightmare?"

Starlight nodded, "I dreamt was at the party but there was nopony there and when then suddenly I got the strangest feeling that I was being watched. Suddenly Chrysalis popped out of this giant cake and then she started to drain all of my love from me."

Trixie put her hoof around Starlight, "I really doubt Chrysalis will show up at the party. Crystal guards are everywhere, there's no way she'll get in."

Starlight sighed, "I just hope this day won't turn out like-"

"WE'RE HERE!!!!!!" Starlight's thoughts were interrupted by Pinkie Pie, who pointed to the Crystal Empire train station.

The train stopped and a guard was directing the ponies off of the train, "All party guests must exit the train in an orderly fashion. We don't want anypony to get trampled."

But everypony was so excited, they ran off the train and the guard ended up getting trampled by the guests and when the dust settled, his uniform was disheveled and he was seeing little floating Derpys everywhere.

Everyone was amazed when they saw the entire city decked out for the party.

"This party is awesome!" Pinkie Pie cheered, "There's so many party games and food stations! And everypony showed up! I have to go find Cheese Sandwich!" The pink pony eagerly ran off to the game station. 

Trixie walked around with Starlight but the pair was startled by Discord suddenly popping up behind them.

The draconeques observed his surroundings "This is some party!" He said, "But isn't this kind of a big deal to throw a giant party for a little filly. When I turned a year old, all I got was a birthday cake covered in chocolate milk."

"Well a royal fill deserves a royal celebration" said Trixie as she nudged Discord, "and I'm surprised you even had a 1st birthday party when nopony likes you!"

"Oh yeah? Well you always like to be extravagent!"

The fight was stopped when Trixie pulled her friends apart and looked up, "Thorax and the Changelings are here!"

Everyone looked up to see Thorax and his subjects fly over the buildings and land the center of the crowd.

"Thorax, you made it!" exclaimed Starlight.

Thorax smiled, "Well Flurry Heart's turning a year old and the Changelings and I wouldn't miss it for Equestria. We have some adorable presents to give her. We all pitched in to ma-"

Suddenly, trumpets started blaring and Sunburst walked out with a clipboard.

"Attention everypony, I'd like to bring out Shining Armor and Cadence for the presentation of the royal birthday filly."

Everyone turned up to the castle balcony to see Shining Armor, Cadence, and a young squire.

"Greetings everypony," the royal squire read from a scroll, "it is with great pleasure that we present to you, the royal birthday filly, Flurry Heart."

Everypony looked up to see Sunburst come out with Flurry in her arms. Little Flurry was wearing a small birthday crown and had on a frilly pink dress covered in bows and ruffled trims and she wore little pink ballet slippers on her hooves.

"She's so cute!" Rarity gushed, "Especially since I made that outfit for her."

"Shh! Don't steal Flurry's spotlight!" Twilight whispered.

He then went to the front of the balcony and lifted the baby up for all to see.

The guests began clapping and stomping their hooves. One couple even took a picture.

"Wow!" Pinkie Pie exclaimed, "This is just like my favorite movie, although I may have forgotten what happens next."

Sunburst gave Flurry to Cadence and she walked up to the balcony, "Thank you all for coming to the first birthday celebration of our beloved Flurry Heart. It’s hard to believe it’s been over a year since she was born.”

A tourist with pins all over his vest called up, “And one year since she nearly caused another Ice Age!”

There was a brief moment of awkward silence before Shining Armor spoke up, “Yeah, that too, not her proudest moment.”

Cadence continued, “And now, Pinkie Pie and Cheese Sandwich will give the Royal party decree.”

Everyone below began to cheer as Pinkie Pie arrived on the balcony.

Pinkie Pie read from a scroll she pulled out of her hair, “By the power invested in me, I say it’s time to party!”

Cheese Sandwich came out with a giant party cannon.

“Blastoff!” He launched the cannon and everyone cheered as confetti rained down on the guest, signaling the start of a big party.
