A Heart of a Queen...
I slowly opened my eyes to a desolate
wasteland. What we had been sent to after that damned princess of love blasted us with her so called "love magic".
But the truth was, unlike those ponies say, love doesn't always fix everything. Sure we need it to live but it would make life a whole lot easier if we didn't.
I slowly stood up, my head pounding in pain. And the first thing I saw was the twisted bodies of my children. I couldn't believe it. I don't get it. We were just trying to live. It was never meant to end like this. Those blasted ponies always thought bad of us. We never wanted to always be hungry, and what's a queen got to do when her children were starving? Do nothing?
My sorrowful wail was interrupted by something no, some things prodding my shoulder. "My queen?" It was Amethyst. "Yes Amethyst?" I responded. "What will we do?" Another changeling asked.
Huh. What will we do? For the first time I was stuck. I don't know what to do anymore.
I don't know who to ask...
I don't know what to do...
I remember when I was little, and my mother told me a story. A story that made me who I am. A story that would change the fate of all the changeling empire.
"My dear Chrystal, one day you'll be queen you know."
"I know mommy but I don't want to make all the decisions like you do!"
"Chrystal, I know you don't want to but the Changeling Empire need a ruler. And you're the only 'ling that has shared blood with me. Well, mostly..."
"But mommy..."
"Chrystalline let me tell you a story...
A long time ago every creature from every land lived in peace. Long ago all Changelings were ponies too. They were ponies who could turn into anything they wanted. But then one day, a powerful pony thought that it was unfair that they, and only they can turn into anything they wanted to for nothing. So the powerful pony put a curse on them and made these ponies' appearance to change. Their skin became pitch black, and hole-y, their once sparkly eyes became metallic blue, they sprouted insect like wings or horns and their teeth became fangs. The curse made them look horrible, and they had no power to stop it. The powerful pony said that they could only change appearance if they ate love."
"But mommy that's so unfair!"
"Honey life is unfair. And that's why you have to be a good queen for me. I have given everything for my people, for my children, the question is will you?"
"Of course" I said.
"Mother? Mother can you hear me? Mommy?" Said a changeling, their voice blurry.
I slowly regained composure. "Oh my queen you're awake! We were starting to get worried!" Ah dear Thorax. Always was the caring one.
"Children gather round. I want all of you to try and return home." I said to my children.
"But what about you mother?"
"I am Chrystalline of the Changeling Empire, I'll be okay"
"Promise?"
"Promise."
A few hours passed and I was on my way to Canterlot, slipping on every step. Gasping weakly as the night took over the day. I didn't know if I could make it, but I had to. For my children.
Little did I know I was followed by Amethyst, the most recently born Changeling.
Finally, I made it to Canterlot.
Disguised as an average pegasus with a light orange coat and gold shiny hair, I was hidden.
I'd snuck past the castle guards and stumbled upon the throne
Shedding my disguise I scrambled to the middle of the room. No one was there, but not for long.
The four princesses started coming into the throne room.
"CHRYSALIS?!" Yelled Celestia, Luna and Twilight with confusion.
"Chrystalline?" Cadence softly questioned.
Ah Cadenza, I miss the old times when we were kids.
"HOW DARE YOU SHOW YOUR FACE TO THIS KINGDOM!!!!" Boomed Celestia.
"GUARDS!" Yelled Luna.
"Please," I said weakly "My children, they need your help."
"AND WHY SHOUL-"
"Everypony STOP!" Screamed Cadence. "Can't you see? She's hurt! She's too weak to even stand up! She cares so much for her people, no children that she's willing to come ALL THE WAY HERE! She risked HER LIFE JUST SO SHE COULD FIND HELP and we're not even letting her SPEAK!!! What kind of cruel monsters are we!"
"Cadence? What if she's deceiving us? It wouldn't be the first time. She kidnapped you and fed off of Shining's love!"
"No Auntie Celestia! Just because she acted ruthless before doesn't mean she's evil! Isn't that what you always told me? Everypony deserves a second chance!"
"Tia, maybe Cadence is right. Maybe for once, she's not lying. Tia maybe she's changed."
"Please help my people. I don't care what you do to me but they need help. Without you they'll die!"
"O-okay Chrystalline. I can't just let a whole empire starve, that's just wrong... Just, we'll have to know you're not planning something behind this," Cadence slowly replied.
"Thank you..."
BOOM! The door smashed open.
"GUARDS KILL THE CHANGELING!!!!!"
"No! Stop!" Cried Cadence. But they didn't and I did nothing to stop them. I guess I was too weak or maybe I had figured it was better off this way. The last thing I saw was everypony screaming and a bright flashing light.
