> Ancient Race Reawakens > by bcmorgan96 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Chapter 1 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It had been about two months since King Sombra had been defeated and Garble had been turned to stone. And everyone had been busy preparing for a big day. Spike and Ember's marriage day. The two had decided to have the wedding in the Dragon Lands. There were three reasons for their decision: they had wanted it to be where they had first met, they wanted to share pony life mate customs with dragons, and most importantly, there was dragon traditional ritual that dragons do when they become life mates. Spike was standing at an altar made by both dragons and ponies. By his side was Matches who was serving as his bestdrake since he was he was the first guy drake who became Spike's friend. Twilight stood across serving Ember's mare of honor since she was Ember's first pony friend. Celestia stood at the alter to serve as the minister of the wedding. In the benches sat all of their friends and family. Rainbow Dash heard sniffing as she looked to her right to see Shining Armor and his wife Cadence sitting with Flurry Heart, Twilight Velvet, and Night Light. "Shining Armor? Are you crying?" "No. It's liquid pride. Can you blame me? Spike is like a little brother to me and this is a big day for him." Night then spoke, "He's right. Spike has been apart of the family since Celestia had brought him home to us. And seeing him take the same step Shining Armor did when he became Cadence's husband is a big moment for all of us." At the altar, Match noticed Spike was sweating heavily. "Relax dude. If you get any hotter, you'll burn your suit off." "Can you blame me? This is the biggest step me and Ember are taking. You'd be the same if you were in my spot right now." Twilight smiled to the dragon she saw as a brother. "Spike? Match is right. If Ember didn't want this, would she would never had said yes to you when you proposed to her? I don't think so. You and her are perfect for each other and will have a fantastic future together. I just know it." Spike smiled to his adopted sister as they soon began hearing Fluttershy's birds singing the wedding tune. The doors to the chamber opened to reveal Ember in a beautiful white, wedding dress being escorted by Torch who was wearing a tuxedo himself. They soon met Spike where he took Ember's hand as Torch nodded to him and took his seat beside Princess Luna and Pipsqueak. Celestia smiled as she began, "Dragons and ponies. We are gathered here today to join Spike Dracone of Canterlot and Dragon Lord Ember of the Dragon Lands in holly matrimony. They have done many extraordinary things in their time together. Including bringing our two races into peace with each other. They now proceed to take their next step in showing the love they shower. They will now recite their own speeches for one another." Spike smiled to his bride. "Ember. Our time together has been the most treasured moments of my life. You have shown me what it means to be a dragon and how we can change to anything. Having you as my first friend from the Dragon Lands was how we first started, then you became the love of my life when you first came to Ponyville, and now I'm honored to take the next step into becoming your husband." "Spike. You were the one to show me how life can be when you have friends. You inspired me to become the Dragon Lord I am to this day. You also showed me how important having you as my first friend is to me. Being with you as been one of the greatest experiences of my life. Even greater than becoming the Dragon Lord. And now I know the adventure will continue as I become your wife." Not a single eye was dry after hearing this. Celestia looked to her adopted son. "Do you Spike take Ember to be your lawful wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richness, for poor, in sickness and health, until death do you part?" "I do." Celestia then looked to her soon-to-be daughter-in-law. "And do you Ember take Spike to be your lawful husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richness, for poor, in sickness and health, until death do you part?" "I do." "The rings please." Twilight and Match handed them the gold rings as Spike and Ember put them on their ring claws. "You may now kiss your bride." The two dragons embraced one another in a long, sweet kiss as everypony and dragon cheered. Rainbow Dash then took to the air to do her signature Sonic Rainboom to mark the moment. Soon later, everyone was out in a field where the reception was held. Torch watched as his new son-in-law and daughter fed each other their cake. Thanks to Pinkie, a cake had been prepared with half being regular for ponies and the other half being studded with gems for dragons. "You must be very proud of your daughter Torch." Torch turned to see Celestia standing there. "Indeed I am. She showed me she earned being Dragon Lord and led our kind to making peace with yours." "I couldn't think of anyone else I'd want Spike to spend the rest of his life with. Shall we congratulate them?" "After you." The two approached the newly wedded couple as Torch approached Spike with a smile on his face. "Spike. Welcome to the family. I can't think of anyone to be with my daughter for life and to call my new son." Spike smiled to his new father-in-law as he shook his hand. "I'm honored to be part of the family Mr. Torch." "Just call me Torch now son. Like I said, you're family now." Celestia looked to Ember and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Welcome to our royal family Ember. While you were already a princess at first, I can't think of anyone I'd want more a part of our family as Spike's wife than you." Ember smiled to her new mother in law. "Thank you... mother." The two shared a hug as Spike watched his new wife and his mother share a family moment. Twilight and Flash approached as Twilight asked, "So Spike. When you two return from your honeymoon, what's your living plan?" Spike looked to Twilight and the other girls who have been his friends for a long time with a sad look. "As much as I love you all and love Ponyville, I plan on living in the Dragon Lands with Ember. Being her husband means I'll be sharing the responsibilities of this land with her. I hope you guys understand." Twilight smiled as she wrapped her adopted brother in a hug. "Spike we understand perfectly. We knew you would be living with Ember here and have even prepared to have all of your belongings here while you and her are away. Just promise us you'll write whenever possible to keep us up with how you are and how Ember is. And it wouldn't hurt to come and visit when possible and we'll be sure to do the same and come visit when possible. Deal?" Spike smiled and returned the hug. "Deal." The rest of the mane 6 approached Ember with Rarity speaking first, "Promise us darling that you'll treat Spike well." Rainbow then spoke, "Even though it didn't always seem like it, he's an important part of our group." Applejack tipped her hat. "And he will always be important to all of us." Pinkie smiled. "He's the best dragon any group of ponies could have as a friend." Fluttershy brushed her mane back. "And he'll always be the kindest and most caring dragon we'll ever know." Ember smiled to the group of mares as she said, "I can tell Spike is important to you all. Which is why I promise as your friend that I will always give Spike the love and respect he deserves as his new wife." The girls smiled and surrounded Ember in a group hug. As the time passed Ember became used to displays of affection between friends such as hugs. So she smiled as she returned the hug the girls were giving him. After the group hug broke, Torch approached his daughter. "Ember? I believe it is time for you and Spike to prepare for the Dragon Lands' traditions of soul mates." Ember nodded to her father and led her husband to a secluded area with some of the dragon guards. Celestia looked to Twilight. "So Twilight? Have you, Starlight, and Sunburst managed to figure out kind of magic Spike is holding within himself?" "Not even close. We've searched through every archive of ancient magics from both my library and from that of the Crystal Empire's and have found nothing. While Ember and Spike are away on their honeymoon, we're going to try and search through some of the historical texts of the dragon lands and see if there's anything there." "We're ready dad." Everyone turned to see Spike and Ember wearing their custom armor. Torch smiled before chanting to gain everyone's attention. "Dragons and ponies! It is now time for Dragon Lords Ember and Spike to perform the traditional Dragon Lands soul mate flight!" Spike and Ember stood at the edge of the cliff as Spike asked, "Ready?" "Whenever you are." They both took to the air as everypony and dragon watched in astonishment. The two did a routine of flight patterns as the both gained altitude to the to the top of the tallest mountain where the sun reaches the top. Once the two reached the top of the mountain and stopped in front of the sun and as they began their decent back down they locked claws from their hind legs and their hands. The two began to spin together as closed in on to the ground. At the last minute, they unlatched their claws and flew to the stone at the bottom and scortched one spot with a burst a flames from both of them. (If you want to see it in more detail look at 1:07:40 on this video.) Everyone cheered as the two dragons landed in front of their friends and family. Rarity spoke, "That was marvelous." Rainbow asked, "So where are you two heading for your honeymoon?" Spike said, "I thought it would be best to show Ember what the beaches were like in Equestria so we'll be heading to Mihyami for a couple of weeks." Torch asked, "Who are you leaving in charge of the Dragon Lands while you're gone?" Ember looked to her father calmly. "Don't worry dad. Match will be left in charge since he's my advisor. I trust him enough to know what choices to make and how to run the place while I'm gone." Then a carriage prepared with their luggage pulled up to the two as Spike shared one more hug with his adopted mother. Celestia was shedding a few tears of joy. "I just can't believe my little boy is now a married man." "Aww mom." Ember looked to her father with a smug smirk. "How come you're not like that?" "Who says I'm not. I just cry on the inside knowing my daughter is all grown up." Ember surprised her father with a hug as he returned it soon after. After breaking from their parents, Ember looked to the bouquet of flowers as she said, "Now it's time to decide who's next in line." Ember tossed the flowers as every mare and dragoness made a grab for it only for it to unintentionally caught by Trixie. The blue mare looked to Match as the two began to blush. Spike and Ember then entered their carriage and flew off as the carriage was being pulled by dragons. Their friends and family waved goodbye as they soon became out of eyesight. > Chapter 2 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- After a quick trip in the carriage and unpacking at their hotel resort, Spike and Ember found themselves on the beach. Spike stood outside of a changing tent in a pair of green trunks, waiting for Ember to come out. "Ember? You ready yet?" "Coming out now babe. And just so you know, I have a different look from last time. And it's one I'm sure you'll love." Ember walked out and if Spike had a jaw made of paper, it would've hit the ground. Ember stood in a ruby colored two piece that went well with her blue scales. "I asked Rarity to make this for me so I had something new for our honeymoon. What do you think?" Ember actually chuckled a bit at seeing her husband's expression. "Ember? I know I've said it plenty of times. But I'm going to say it again. You are beyond beautiful." Ember smiled and gave her husband a small peck on his lips. "Charmer." "Only for you." Ember playfully rubbed his cheek with her tail. "Come on. Let's have some fun." Spike then surprised his wife by picking her up bridal style before running to water and jumping in. Ember rose from the water soon and smiled at her husband. "That's refreshing." Spike gave a playful smile, "And here's a way to make more refreshing." Spike then surprised Ember by splashing her with a heavy push of water. Ember tried to splash back but was overpowered by Spike. "No fair. You have bigger arms than I do." "Oh come on Ember. I thought you were the Dragon Lord. You're smart to get me back." "You asked for it." Ember then unfolded her wings and began using them to splash Spike with their power. She then surprised him further by running forward and tackling him to where the water meets the sand. "You never get tired of being rough do ya?" "I don't hear you complaining my handsome drake." Spike and Ember shared a small kiss as they let the water run over them for a bit. Later, Ember laid down on her towel as Spike was giving her a small massage. Ember decided to tease Spike a bit by unclipping her bikini top strap. "That should make it at little easy." Spike grinned and moved his hands up to massage the area where Ember's wings connected to her back. Ember moaned at her husband's actions. "That's the spot." "Hey. There's some ice cream at that stand over there. You up for a cool off?" "Sure. Just a plain vanilla will be good for me." Spike walked off to the stand as Ember continued just lay under the sun. While a dragon's scales are thick enough to prevent sun burn, they still enjoy the feeling of the sun. So Ember folded her wings behind her back, and like other dragons, her wings soaked up the sun's heat like solar panels, helping her relax to the fullest. However, her relaxation was interrupted when she felt a jolt of something cold on her back. She turned her head to see a grinning Spike who had just put a small cup of ice cream on her back which made her laugh a bit. "Ah. Babe that's cold." Spike lifted the cup back up with a small chuckle. "Sorry honey. Couldn't resist." Ember chuckled and sat up only to remember her bikini top was still unclipped. She quickly put her top back on and smiled at the look on Spike's face. "Save it for the bedroom Spike." "Oh. Right." Ember rolled her eyes playfully as the two enjoyed their ice cream. A little later that day, after making a quick trip back to their bedroom to change into some better clothes to they make their way to the hotel's restaurant. Spike was in a nice suit with a red bow tie while Ember wore a golden gown. They approached the entrance where a red pegasus with an orange mane was standing. "Hello welcome to-. Oh. You're the newly weds. Dragon Lords Ember and Spike. Well, we're honored to have you with us tonight. I am Blazer. Would you like an inside spot or a spot on the outside balcony?" Spike said, "I think we'll have a spot on the balcony." "Of course. Please follow me." The two followed Blazer to outside balcony, where Spike, being the gentlemen he was, seated Ember before seating himself. "Can I start you off with some drinks?" Spike said, "I'll have some wine." "Same here." "Okay. Enjoy your stay here. You're waiter will be here soon with your drinks and menus." With that, Blazer walked off. As the two waited for a waiter to approach their table, Spike and Ember noticed that along with some of the ponies, there were dragons socializing. Spike smiled at the sight. "Well look at that. Dragons and ponies finally living in peace." Ember also smiled at the sight. "Yeah. And it's all thanks to you Spike." "Me?" "Yes. If you hadn't shown me what friendship is like, I could never have found my path to leading all of the Dragon Lands. And not to mention if you hadn't had helped me that day, Garble would've probably won the scepter. And we both know how much of a disaster that could've been." "Yeah. You're right. But look on the bright side. We won't have to worry about Garble ever again." "And that's a dream come true." Blazer soon returned with their drinks and menus. "Okay. Here are your drinks and menus. Take your time and I'll be back to take your orders soon." With that, Blazer left the two to look over their choices. And to their relief, some of the dishes, since they now have dragon customers, had gems studded in them. "Hey Ember? How about the gem studded steaks?" Ember actually began to feel herself drool a little. "That sounds like a perfect dish." Blazer soon returned and took their orders before returning after another few minutes. They soon began enjoying their food in silence. Eventually Ember decided to start a conversation. "Hey Spike? Can I ask you something?" "Sure Ember. What is it?" "I was just wondering. Have you heard anything from Twilight and Starlight about that unknown magic you have?" "To be honest Ember. They've been researching a lot of sources, including from the Dragon Lands. But despite all they've done, they've only come up with one comment. Whatever this magic is, it's a part of me. They did a small check on it, and they've determined that's been with me my entire life and they still don't know where it came from." "Oh. Well knowing them, I know they'll find out what we need to know soon. And no matter what, you'll always be my handsome drake." "Thanks Ember." Not long after they finished their food, Spike heard a calm yet powerful melody playing around. He looked towards the dance stage under the moon where many couples began gathering. He then smiled as he stood up and held his hand out to his wife. "Milady? Will you allow the humble dragon the honor to dance with such a beautiful dragoness?" Ember chuckled a bit before smiling. "Corny as always Spike," Ember she then gave him her hand before rising to her feet. "And I would love to." The two made their way to the dance floor before Spike wrapped his arm around Ember's waist while holding her hand with his free arm. The two then moved along with the music. "I'll never get over being here with you Ember." Ember rested her head on Spike's shoulder and whispered into his ear, "And I'll always cherish the day we met Spike." After a few more dances the two decided to call it a night and return to their room. An hour later back in the hotel room, Spike just sat on the bed in a shirt and shorts while Ember finished in the bathroom. "It's been a great day hasn't it Ember?" "It sure has but..." Spike looked over to see Ember walk out of the bathroom wearing nothing but her bra and thong. Before Spike could say another word, Ember walked up and pushed him on the bed, crawled on top of him, and smirked down at him. "I can think of one more thing before this night is over." Spike smirked before wrapping his arms around her waist. "Well then... Let's have some fun shall we?" Ember cupped his cheeks before bringing her snout to his in a passionate kiss. Ember cradled his head while Spike ran his hands all over her back while their tongues began battling for dominance. Ember began to moan as Spike massaged her rump with one claw while the other rubbed the area where her wings connected to her back, since he remembered that was a sensitive spot from the very first day they fell in love. Ember decided to return the pleasure she was receiving by moving her tail around her to rub the area where Spike's cock was. Spike felt pleasure while Ember ran her hand up his shirt to slowly remove it. They broke their kiss for a moment so the shirt could come off as Ember's tail and other hand removed his shorts and boxers. After removing his clothes, Ember looked down at her favorite prize. "I love how big you are Spike. That's something I will never get over." Ember moved down and began stroking Spike's cock, enjoying as he began clenching the bed sheets. Ember then proceeded to move further down and wrapped her lips and tongue around Spike's cock. Spike groaned as Ember took his cock deep into her mouth while wrapping and stroking it with her tongue. "Ember. You are the most wonderful dragoness I have met in my life!" Ember simply smirked before sucking and licking even harder, adding more and more to his pleasure. She soon felt his hands on the back of her head. "Ember! Don't stop! I'm almost-!" Ember soon felt a warm liquid splash into her mouth and began gulping it down. Spike's pleasure continued still kept going as she kept sucking his cum while his cock continued to soften until it was semi-hard. After releasing Spike's cock with a pop, Ember smirked and crawled back up to smirk at her lifemate. "I'll never get over how thick and creamy you taste Spike." Spike then smirked himself before taking Ember by surprise by flipping them over to where he was towering over her. "My turn." Spike kissed Ember hard as with a swift swipe of his claws, Ember's bra and thong were cut off. Ember then began to moan into Spike's mouth as he began to caress her breast. Ember then began to moan into his ear as he broke away and began running his lips from her neck, to her collarbone, and to her breasts. Spike then locked his lips onto Ember's left nipple and ran his tongue over it while sucking her breast. After giving the same treatment to her other breast he moved his lips down her abdomen to her pussy. He kissed her lower lips while running his tongue as deep inside as he could. He sped up his process when Ember began to moan even louder and wrapped her legs around his head to keep him in place. "Spike! Don't you dare stop!" However, to her disappointment, he pulled away. "Spike? Why did you- oh Faust!" Ember was cut off by Spike rubbing his cock against her pussy. "Ready?" "Yes." "I can't hear you." "Spike! Please put it in now! I need it!" "You got it." With that, Spike drove his cock into Ember with full force. Ember wrapped her arms, legs, and tail around Spike as he began moving with as much force and speed as he could muster. Spike wrapped his wings around Ember as he gripped her hips. "Oh Faust! Spike you are amazing! I'm never going to get over how good and big you feel!" "Ember! You're so tight! I feel like I'm going to blow soon!" Spike moved his hands to her back and he raised her into the air and supported her on himself. Ember felt more pleasured by how Spike would take power in their special moments. "Ember! I'm about to-!" "Do it Spike! Fill me up! Don't hold back anything!" Spike and Ember soon felt their restraint fail them and they let out screams of pleasure as they came all over each other. The two just laid there, catching their breath as Spike pulled out of Ember and she rolled over to nuzzle into his neck. "Perfect as always my handsome drake." "You too my beautiful dragoness." With that, the two let sleep overtake them. Later that night Spike found himself in an unknown area. It appeared to be a cave like throne room where a female dragon with a small egg in a stone nest. "What's going on?" "Sephrina?!" Spike looked over to see a creature unknown to him walk in. This creature appeared to have skin as strong as stone, green eyes, wearing strong armor, had dragon like wings, a long slim tail, and two small horns on his head. The dragoness rose to see him in shock. "Malkior? What's wrong?" The one called Malkior looked to Sephrina with a serious yet concerned look. "Sephrina? You must leave." "What?" "It turns out that one of my commanders, who holds much dislike to your kind has found out about us. He's coming for you... And our offspring. Then he plans on convincing the rest of the kingdom into declaring an attack on your kingdom. I have to use the freeze field spell to prevent this." "Malkior? You'll never survive that." "I know. But it's a necessary sacrifice. Some day my kind will return, and when it does happen, our child will serve as a bridge between our two species." The two, along with Spike, witnessed an explosion nearby... Spike shot up from his bed while panting as hard a he could. He looked find himself in his bed with Ember sleeping calmly beside him. "A dream? It was just a dream?" Spike then pulled out of bed, pulled his boxers on and walked out onto the balcony. He stood there silently until he felt a pair of arms wrap around his waist from behind and soon found Ember resting her head on his shoulder. "What's up? And don't say nothing. I know you well enough to know when something's bothering you." "Okay... I had a weird dream. It had a dragoness with a small egg. There was also some kind of other creature. He was similar to a dragon, but I just know that he wasn't one." "Wow. Sounds like an interesting dream." "That's just it Ember... I don't think it was just a dream." "What do you mean?" "Call me crazy. But I feel like I knew those two. Like they were, I don't know, a part of my life somehow." Ember was about to comment until she saw the sincere look on her husband's face. "Well... I have an idea. How about when we get back, we ask Princess Luna to take a look at your dream?" Spike thought it over before smiling at his wife. "Okay." "Good. But for now, let's get back to bed. It's cold sleeping by yourself." Spike smiled as Ember lead him back to their bed. Meanwhile, they were unaware of themselves being watched by the same silhouette from the past events. "The time is almost here. Soon, he'll have to be prepared." > Chapter 3 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- After a relaxing honeymoon week in Mihyami, Ember and Spike were leaving inside a carriage pulled by Pegasi. They had just stopped by the Dragon Lands to return their belongings and to also check on the area itself and its people. They also made sure to let Match know he could step down and take a break since they were back. Seeing things were okay, they then decided to make one more trip with Spike sweating a bit. "I just hope they can tell me what's going on?" Spike the felt Ember's hand cover his own before looking to see her smile at him. "Hey. Don't worry. I'm sure they can tell you more about it. If anyone knows what it might mean, it's them." The trip the two were making was to the capital of Equestria, Canterlot, where Luna and Celestia had agreed to meet with them, along with Twilight and the others. The reason they were meeting with them all is because, over their honeymoon, Spike had been having the same strange dream he had during their first night. He still didn't understand who the dragoness was in his dream, who or what the other creature was, and most importantly, why was he having the dream over and over again in the first place? Spike seemed to calm a bit as Ember rubbed his hand before sighing. "I'm sorry. It's just... I have so many questions about what's going on? I mean I didn't start having these dreams until this new magic started making itself known inside of me. Is it just a random dream I can't forget or is it something more? And if it's the latter, who are the people in my dream and what do I have to do with them?" Ember could see how worried Spike and leaned over to kiss his cheek to further calm him down. "I know you're worried. I am too. Even in the Dragon Lands, no dragon has ever been able to do what you can or have these weird dreams or visions. And I know it's bothering you because you wanna understand why this is going on." Ember then laid her head on his shoulder. "But I promise. No matter what happens, no matter what we find out, I'm gonna be right beside you. I promise." Hearing Ember saying that made Spike smile as he wrapped his arm around her and held her close. "Thanks, Ember. I always wondered what I did to deserve you." "Simple. You just be your goofy, loving self." The two laughed a bit before sharing a simple kiss. They held one another in a tight embrace and may have taken things a bit "too far" had they not felt a jolt that from the carriage. They soon felt a knock come from the front of the carriage before they heard one of the pegasi guards say, "Lord Ember? Lord Spike? We're here." The two managed to get over having their moment ruined before straightening themselves up a bit with Spike saying, "Thank you." Spike took a deep breath before standing and offering his hand to his wife. "Shall we?" Ember smiled and happily took his hand before she stood as well. Spike was the first to open the door to the carriage and held and helped Ember out soon after. "Well... Let's get-OH!" Spike was cut off when he felt himself taken in strong arms, his back popping a bit, and the air rushing out of his lungs by the tight grip he was in. It didn't take him long to figure out who was doing this. "Oh, Spike! It's so good to see you! How was your honeymoon? Did you and Ember have fun? Did you see a lot of stuff? See many sights? Eat a lot of sweets?" Spike looked to see Pinkie smirk at him and watched as she was soon pulled off by purple magic, which was controlled by Twilight as she and the other girls approached the two from the castle doors. "Now now Pinkie. They just got back from their honeymoon. Don't throw thousands of questions at them before they have a chance to answer one." Twilight then approached Spike before wrapping her arms around Spike in a sibling-like hug. "Welcome back... Little brother." Spike smiled and returned the hug as well as he responded with, "Good to see you again Twi. How have things been?" Applejack was the next one to greet the two with a hug and smile as well. "Nothin' much, partner. Glad to know you two enjoyed your time away. Faust knows you both earned after all we went through back then." Rainbow then smiled and flew up to them with a smug look on her face. "So how much fun did you two have during your time alone. Hope you didn't have too much... "Fun" if you catch my drift?" "Rainbow!" "What? We all were wondering the same thing." Fluttershy was blushing a bit from Rainbow bringing up something so personal and embarrassing. "Really Rainbow Dash. That's none of our business." "Oh come on Shy. It's just a bit of fun at them. And kinda a way to see how juicy they've gotten." "Honestly darling. Can you have any control of yourself?" Rarity said as she approached Ember and shared a hug with dragoness. Though Ember knew about Spike's old crush on the mare, the two managed to become good friends before the wedding. Rarity saw how well Ember could take care of Spike after he moved on from his crush on her. And Rarity will always be grateful to her for that. Plus she does have more sense of decency than most dragons, even though that is being improved since Ember took over. They released the embrace and smiled to one another. "I hope you enjoyed the clothes I prepared for you and Spike while you were both away." "You bet Rarity. You know how to make clothes that are comfortable but still able to hold up to how hot we dragons can get." Ember then leaned over to whisper into Rarity ear, "Plus... Spike loved the bikini." Rarity smirked and whispered back, "If you ever need a new one, you know how to reach me." They all then heard a growling noise come from Spike before he looked down to his stomach and blushed a bit. "Sorry. I kinda skipped my breakfast to get here quickly." Ember couldn't help but chuckle a bit. "I told you, you should've taken it easier with rushing to get here. But as usual, I married the most stubborn dragon raised by ponies." "Don't forget the only dragon raised by ponies." They all looked to see Celestia and Luna fly down and land beside them all. Spike was the first to approach and greet Celestia with a hug. "Hey, mom. Glad to see you." He then shared a hug with Luna who returned the embrace. "You too Aunt Luna." "Good to see you are doing well also my young son." Celestia then looked to Ember who approached with a smile as well. Ember bowed to Celestia out of respect. "Good to see you again Princess Celestia." Ember then found herself pulled to Celestia by the alicorn's magic where Celestia wrapped her in a hug. "Now now Ember. There's no need for formalities. We're family now." Ember took in her words before returning the embrace Celestia gave her. "Right. Guess I'm still getting a little used to stuff like this." Luna then gained everyone's attention with, "Now that you've arrived from your trip and so many of our friends are here, why don't we all get some food to fill our bellies?" Before anyone could respond, Spike was the first to say, "Yep. Let's do it. I'm starving." The two princesses couldn't help but giggle before Celestia said, "Then let us proceed to the dining hall. And I'm sure you and Ember would like some gems added to your food Spike?" "I think I'm gonna enjoy having you two as family Prin- Celestia," Ember said before holding her husband's hand before they all followed the two into the castle. A few hours later and after a good meal, Ember was sharing some photos of what she and Spike did over their honeymoon with the girls while Luna and Celestia approached Spike. "Now tell us, dear nephew. What brought you here after returning from your time with your new wife?" Spike rubbed the back of his head a bit before speaking, "Well... Over our time in Mihyami, I kept having this weird dream over and over again. I was hoping maybe Aunt Luna could take a look into my mind and see it for herself. Maybe then you could tell me if it means anything." Princess Luna took a minute to think before nodding to her adopted nephew and flowing magic into her horn. "Very well Spike. Just hold still while I take a look." Spike nodded and held still while Luna gently placed the tip of her horn against Spike's forehead. The two closed their eyes while Luna concentrated as the others approached. Twilight was about to speak but was stopped when Celestia held her hand up. Soon after, Luna pulled away and opened her eyes only to have a somewhat shocked look on her face. Spike opened his eyes as well with Ember stepping to his side. "You okay Spike?" "Yeah. I'm okay," Spike said before he looked to Princess Luna. "Anything you can tell me?" Princess Luna remained silent with the look of someone who was processing something they had just seen. As she remained silent, Celestia began to grown concerned with her sister's silence before placing her hand on Luna's shoulder. "Luna? What is it?" Luna shook her head a bit before looking to her sister with concern. "It may be best you see for yourself sister." Luna then used her magic to project the dream she saw in Spike's mind through her horn while the others and Celestia watched. Pinkie, being her usual self, pulled a bag of popcorn out of her mane and began munching on it as they all watched. The dream showed the sight Spike saw every time before Luna stopped it on the male creature who was known as Malkior. While almost everyone remained confused, Twilight notice Celestia had gained the look of shock that Luna held earlier on her face as well. "Celestia? Luna? Do you know who that guy is?" Celestia soon shook off her shock before looking to them all. "Well Twilight, we don't know who he is. But we do know his race." "What is he? Some kind rare breed of dragon or something?" Rainbow asked. "He's a gargoyle." Everyone turned to see the cloaked silhouette figure had appeared out of nowhere. Celestia and Luna charged their horns with magic as a means of defense if necessary with the former asking, "Who are you? And how did you get in here?" "Calm yourselves, you were the one who gave me access to your castle should I ever need it," said the figure as he pulled the hood that revealed a face that seemed to surprise Luna and Celestia and Luna. "After all, I was the one who helped you stop Tirek the first time." "Scorpan?" Luna asked. "Is it really you?" Scorpan smiled as he said, "Indeed Luna. And as I said, the one you see in that dream is a gargoyle. My species." Twilight was the first one to say, "First I'd like to say it's an honor to meet you. Princess Celestia and Luna told me about you when we faced Tirek. And second, why is Spike dreaming of this member of your gargoyle kind, Malkior?" "Thousands of years ago, before Discord's reign, the gargoyles were a powerful race. They were rivals with the only other fierce race at the time, dragons. The two races had been at war for a long time, clashing endlessly over and over again, determined to prove which one was the stronger of the two. However, after many years of nothing but fighting, Malkior, the leader of the gargoyle lands, decided that enough had taken place and had planned to end it by starting a peace treaty with the dragon lord of that time." Scorpan looked to Ember as he continued, "That dragon lord was your father, Torch." This caught Ember by surprise. She had remembered Torch had told her of some ancient war between the dragons and another race, but he never told her the race they were at war with. But this brought up another question by the dragoness. "Wait. That still doesn't answer the question of why Spike is dreaming about this Malkior." "Yeah. What does he have to do with me?" Spike asked as he looked right to Scorpan with a questioning look. "It's because," Scorpan started before pausing for a moment. "Spike. Malkior... Was your father." > Chapter 4 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Everyone stood in silence as they looked to Scorpan. Given the news they've heard, they couldn't find words for anything to reply with. Until Luna spoke her question, "Scorpan. Are you speaking the truth?" "Yes," Scorpan said. "I know it may seem hard to believe. But it's true." Spike couldn't believe what he was told. "So... You're saying I'm... I'm...?" Scorpan sighed before answering Spike's unfinished question. "Yes, my boy. You're only half-dragon. Along with that of a dragon, you have gargoyle blood flowing through your veins." "But how are you so sure Spike is the one you're looking for?" Applejack asked with concern. "Because," Scorpan started. "I was the one who delivered his egg to Celestia at the time." "Say what!?" Pinkie asked. "Yes. I was the one who made sure his egg was safe," Scorpan said. "And after my brother was sentenced to Tartarus, I believed Equestria would be the best possible place for it." Spike began breathing heavily. He quickly sat down while looking to the floor while his wife stood by him. "Spike? Are you okay?" Ember asked with concern. "I... I... It's just so much to take in," Spike said. "I mean after all fo the years, I'm finding out where I came from, and I found out I'm not even a full dragon. That I'm half gargoyle. I mean it's just so unbelievable." "And even if you did deliver a dragon egg to Equestria, how do you know for sure it was the one Spike was in?" Applejack asked, though she couldn't deny with her sense of honesty, that Scorpan hadn't lied once. Scorpan smiled a bit before folding his wings like a cloak. "For one, I've been keeping an eye out for a long time to find out when the one with gargoyle blood made himself known. I'm sure you're all still wondering about the magic within Spike. The one giving him his new abilities. Magic beams from his eyes, more strength than the average dragon, extra durable skin. All of those are revealed after a being with gargoyle blood reaches the age of 18. The same time Spike first unlocked his when he and Ember were attacked by Garble." This caught everyone by surprise, especially Spike and Ember. Ember asked, "You mean to tell us that...?" "Garble's actions caused me to use my gargoyle magic?" Spike finished. "Yes. Back then, many things caused a young adult gargoyle to unlock their magic. Yours was seeing someone you cared about being hurt. And there is another way I knew the one I was looking for was Spike. Princess Celestia, if you wouldn't mind, could you bring the chest you found Spike's egg in?" Scorpan asked with a knowing tone. Celestia was shocked for a moment by Scorpan's question. But she shook it off and accepted his request. "Very well Scorpan. I'll be right back." Celestia ignited her horn for a moment before disappearing in a flash of light. "What's so special about a chest Spike's egg was in?" Rainbow asked. "You'll see young one. Just wait." Not long after, Celestia soon returned holding a chest that was black, with yellow highlights. It had metal wings on the top of it along with a small pair of horns. But what caught Twilight's attention was the symbol in the center of it. "Wait," Twilight said as she took a closer look at the symbol. "This... It looks exactly like the medallion Discord said you gave to Tirek." "Yes." Scorpan put his hand to the symbol and wiped some dust off of it. "I gave that medallion to Tirek when he and I bonded enough to see each other as brothers." "But what does it mean?" Rarity asked. "This symbol... Is one of the gargoyles," Scorpan said. "I know it is the one I used to send Spike here two thousand years ago." This statement shocked everyone more than anything. "Two thousand years?" Twilight asked. "But I don't understand. How did Spike's egg survive that long?" Scorpan said, "You see, unlike dragons who are born in eggs, gargoyles are born as stone. In order for them to be fully born, they require a powerful surge of magic. From what his parents told me, Spike was similar but also different in birth. Yes, he was sealed in an egg, but as he was growing, he eventually became preserved in a stone state as he rested in that egg. So like other gargoyle hatchlings, I knew he would need a powerful surge of magic in order to fully awaken him. And at the time, I didn't possess enough to do so myself. So I sent him off to Equestria, hoping that someone with enough magic could do so." "But I don't understand," Ember said. "What happened to Spike's parents, to begin with?" "I don't know if-." "Please!" Spike said shooting up from his seat. "I need to know. What happened to my parents? Why was I sent away? Please, Scorpan. Tell me." Scorpan could see the look of desperation in Spike's eyes. He could tell the young drake wanted and needed to hear the truth. Scorpan took a sigh before taking a seat. "Very well. But you all may want to sit for this." Everyone took a seat where they could and turned their attention to Scorpan. "Many years ago..." flashback A young Scorpan was sitting with a young stood by around a throne room. He stood to the side until he heard the doors to the chamber slam open. Running inside was Malkior and the dragoness, Sephrina. However, Scorpan noticed Malkior was holding his side as he appeared to be injured. "Malkior!" Scorpan said as he supported him to the throne. "What's happened? What is going on?" "One of our own has turned against us. They found out about Sephrina and our unborn child. They plan to kill her and the child. And after that, they're going to lie to our kind and tell them the dragons are to blame and start a war between our lands," Malkior said with a groan. "No. Too much has been done to bring peace between our lands. Is there anything we can do?" Scorpan asked. Malkior groaned as he leaned on the throne. "There is. I will use the stone stasis spell to preserve our people before they can attack the dragons." Sephrina gasped when she heard this. "Malkior. No. Even if you were in your prime condition, you won't survive that!" "There's no other way Sephrina," Malkior said. "If I don't, then the entire land will attack your home and destroy everything we've been working for. And I refuse to let our child be born into a world where gargoyles and dragons continue spilling each others' blood. Even it costs me my life." Sephrina began to cry as Malkior turned to Scorpan. "My old friend. I need you to make sure mine and Sephrina's child will be ready one day." "Ready for what?" Scorpan asked. "To wield this," Malkior said as he made a scepter, similar to the Bloodstone Scepter, only instead of red, the gemstone on top was sapphire. The sight of the scepter surprised Scorpan. "The... The Nightstone Scepter," Scorpan said. "Yes. Once our kind is stone, only someone with my blood flowing through them will be able to free them one day," said Malkior before he put his hand to Scorpan's shoulder before the magic began to flow through him. "I placed a spell on you. Until the day comes that our child, one born of both dragon and gargoyle blood, wields this scepter, you will not age. I know what I'm asking you to do is put up with a curse, but you are the only one I know of who can guide our child when the time comes. Once they've wielded the scepter, the spell will break and you will be able to live your normal life once again. I know I'm asking a lot of you, but you're the only one I know to trust with this task." Scorpan looked to the scepter for a couple of moments before he took the scepter in his hands. "I won't fail you Malkior. I give you my word, I will not fail." "Thank you," Malkior said before slowly getting off of the throne. "Now get Sephrina and our child out of here. I'll get the spell going." "No." The two turned to Sephrina who remained silent for a moment before handing the chest that contained their child's egg in it to Scorpan before she began supporting Malkior. "I'm staying." "Sephrina. No. You can't-." "I'm not going to let you do this alone Malkior," Sephrina said with determination. "You're willing to make sure the world our child is born in a world where our hopes are not possible and I'm not going to sit by and do nothing to help. Besides, you can't make it to the spot for the spell to work on your own." Despite wanting to, Malkior couldn't argue with Sephrina. He nodded to her before looking at Scorpan. "Go. Get yourself and our egg as far away from here as possible. And help them prepare for their destiny." Scorpan took a moment to look at his friends one more time. "I give you my word. Your sacrifices will not be in vain." Scorpan then left the castle of the Gargoyle Lands and took off. As he flew with both the chest and the scepter, right as he reached outside of the boarders, he heard a loud boom. He turned back to see a large surge of magic began covering the Gargoyle Lands. As it washed over, every gargoyle touched by it were turned to stone and left in place. Scorpan continued watching for a moment before continuing on his way. He looked to the chest in his hand as he thought, 'I promise young one. I will make sure you will be raised by the right kind and help you fulfill what your parents hoped for you.' flashback ends "And so I sent you here to at least give you a chance at a good life," Scorpan said. "But..." Spike asked, "Why not take me to the dragon lands at the time?" "Because..." Scorpan started. "At the time, the dragons there would've seen you as an outcast given how you were a half gargoyle. And I was not going to put you in a place that would cause you to grow up with nothing but hate and misery. I would never be able to live with myself if I failed to keep the promise I made to your parents about making sure you grew up the right way. So I held onto your egg for as long as I could. But then, a few years after I met Tirek, there came the day I found out about Equestria. Seeing it for myself, I could see that their kind was nothing like dragons or gargoyles at the time. Meaning they had the right lessons to teach you. To fulfill the dream your parents had so long ago." "Their dream?" Spike asked. "Yes," Scorpan said as he made the Nightstone Scepter appear in his hand. "They believed that one day when you helped free the gargoyles from the spell, you would be able to act as a bridge between gargoyles and dragons. But from what I see, you'll be able to bring them and the ponies together." Scorpan held the scepter out to Spike. "Go ahead. Take it." Spike stared at the scepter for a moment. He reached his hand slowly to take it. However, right as his claws grazed it, he pulled back. Scorpan looked to see Spike staring at the ground with an unsure look in his eyes. "Spike?" "I'm sorry. I can't take it right now. I need to think for a while," Spike said as he turned and walked out of the room, followed by a concerned Ember. The others remained behind as Celestia looked to Scorpan. "You can't blame him for hesitating. This is all so new to him." "I know. I didn't expect him to take it just yet. He doesn't seem the kind to take responsibility he doesn't fully understand," Scorpana said as he made held the scepter. "I am patient. I will wait until he believes and feels he is ready to wield this." Unknown to Scorpan, Spike's claws grazing the scepter made a small momentary spark of magic flicker in its gem. Meanwhile, far deep in the Badlands outside of Equestria, things were quiet for a moment inside a deep mountain cavern. However, that silence was interrupted by the sounds of cracking. As the noise continued, a light was seen forming. Soon gargoyle fell into the light from the darkness. He appeared to be around twenty-two, dressed in strong armor and had a small scar on his cheek. He looked to his hands as if he didn't believe he was moving. "Free... After so many years. I'm finally free." The gargoyle then looked into the cavern he came from to see more gargoyles, still in the stone state. "It seems I'm the only one who's free at the moment. No matter. Soon I will find the way to free them and will rule them as their rightful leader. I, Rokaz, swear to that!"
