Together We Will Always Shine
Fluttershy sighed lightly, brushing the tears that reminded on her soft cheeks, wet from all the crying. Nopony even bothered to check on her, to give the young mare a helping hoof. To cheer her up and make the hardest times the most amazing and beautiful of them all. All of Fluttershy's friends were obviously busy with planning everything for the holidays and didn't have time to visit her. The one she was worried about the most was her fashionable marefriend, Rarity. Even thought nopony really knew about the problem, Fluttershy wanted her to know. So badly. Because she was the most important pony in her small, almost completely lonely life.
The mare missed every single move Rarity made, she missed her hooves gently touching and rubbing Fluttershy's mane, she missed her crystal dark blue eyes making her world shine, she missed the voice of Rarity's, and it always reminded her of angel singing together. And even better. Rarity was everything to Fluttershy. The poor yellow pony didn't like telling secrets to anypony, especially the ones she cared a lot about. However, the saddest thing was the fact that Rarity maybe didn't care at all. Maybe, maybe she wasn't in love with Fluttershy. Maybe Rarity found another special somepony.
Fluttershy hoped it was all a nightmare. That she would wake up next to Rarity and they would kiss for goodmorning. Rarity would then whisper "Glad to see you sweetie. My dear, sweet, beautiful Fluttershy..." and the day would end so slowly.
Sometimes, when the white unicorn was still asleep, Fluttershy would sneak out of her house without Discord noticing, and bring Rarity lovely white, yellow and purple roses. The mare would wake up smiling from her heart, and she would grin brightly at the sight. Fluttershy always knew how to complete her life. By just being there, letting their love shine throught all the bad days, memories.
The invisible bond around the two mares was a mix between lovers and best friends, the best kind of a relationship. They would always, always snuggle on the couch, since winter has come, and drink hot chocolate while singing a lullaby to each other, letting their souls touch.
The greatest gift Rarity ever got Fluttershy was their unexpected first kiss. The day was going normally, but not for the them. It all went off so quickly, like a roller coaster. Fluttershy was quietly feeding her animals, when somepony knocked on the door.
It was her crush. Back then, nopony knew that Fluttershy actually like anypony. She did show her true sweetness towards Rarity, but it seemed like her friends thought it was just a friendly kind of a bond.
Rarity then pulled Fluttershy's head and their lips touched. For the first time in forever, they were happy. Sure, even when Twilight, Rainbow Dash, Applejack and Pinkie Pie where around, it was also great. But this was different. Their love for each other was true and simple. But so powerful.
From that day on, the couple would go on dates, restaurants and celebrate each day spent with one another. It was all a never ending story. Fairytale. Fluttershy's memories flashed throught her head in seconds, making more tears come. She was probably going to be yelled at now. For being a coward. Useless and pathetic. All the mare hoped was that Rarity would notice someday. That was her only wish this Christmas. To be with her. To see the world in a different kind of a view.
"My Rarity. You don't know how much I love you, don't you? You don't know. I am sure, sweetheart. My existance isn't enough. I understand, because I know it's true, dear. I am not the bravest, nor the strongest, nor the smartest, but I promise I will be by your side forever and ever. No, even longer. I love you with all my gentle heart..." Fluttershy sobbed in her already wet pillow, her body shivering in fear. She didn't know if it was a dream, and yet it felt so real. Her Rarity. Nopony else's. She was already taken by the shy pony who loves animals. That's what Fluttershy thought, at least.
Fluttershy couldn't say they didn't try to cheer her up. In fact, her best friends did such a good job trying help, but they couldn't feel the pain Fluttershy did. Death. They didn't experience it. Expect Applejack. Both of her parents died a horrible death. But Fluttershy knew all about it, too. Expect that it wasn't her parents who died. Nopony did.For now.But her mother was in the hospital. For christmas. She had a rare illness. She knew it was almost impossible to make any cure for it, but Fluttershy always had hope.
"Mother. Don't leave me, please. I can't live without you. I can't do anything without your love any support. Rarity is amazing, bit you are, too! I can't! I'm sorry! It hurts. So much. Inside m-my chest..." Fluttershy's sadness turned into rage, then back into tears again. She almost had a mental breakdown. She couldn't say things like that.
Fluttershy got up slowly, her legs still shivering and trembling. Oh, how she wished Rarity was here in her hooves, kissing her cheek and saying that it will be alright. But Fluttershy knew some things couldn't change.
"Fluttershy? Sweetie, I'm sorry. I just came her to check on you. To see if you're doing fine. And, I love you. I'm sorry I couldn't tell you that every single day. Tell you know much you mean to me and my life. Sweetness, you're the best. I am annoying, I know. But I just want to..."
"Rarity. Please, please don't finish that sentece. It's cold outside. Come inside, dear. It's cold out there. You might catch a cold," Fluttershy whispered with a sad expression on her face.
She opened the door, the wind still blowing. The yellow pegasus looked up in the sky, but before she could, she felt the sadness in Rarity's voice. It did mean something. For Fluttershy, it was so full of suprises. You never knew which sound will Rarity make, depending on the situation.
"Rarity! Oh, thank Celestia you're back! I missed you so, so much! My dear! Sweetie! My Rarity. You look so magical! You remebered to come! You really did! I can't believe it..." Her soft tone sounded so sad.
"Of course I am, sweetie pie. I would never forget about you. Now. Tell me about your problem. I know something is bothering my marefriend. I may not be Twilight, but I will try to help the best I can."
Just as Fluttershy tried to speak, her voice broke down and tears streamed down her cheeks as she started to sob even harder than before. Rarity gasped, her eyes filling with her own tears. She hated to see Fluttershy cry. The mare gently rubbed her back to calm her down, repeating the samo words over an over, like she didn't know they were true.
"My dearest Fluttershy. Whatever is wrong, I will solve everything. I promise, sweetie. I can't tell you nor describe to you the world would make zero sense without you smiling brightly right into my face. I love you so much, and I won't stop loving you till I die. Oh sweetie..."
"Promise me you will appear in my mother's funreal…"
Rarity gasped. What was she talking about? She thought her mother was completely fine. But, the hospital was her final destination.
"She's going to die Rarity! Right in front of me! Please, take me to hear! I don't have much time left and I am too excaused to fly! I beg you, do something!" Fluttershy yelled.
"I promise. We will go right now!"
Rarity used her horn to transport to the hospital. Everypony ran around in panic. Fluttershy had sweat around her entire body. Rarity suceeded in calming her down just a little. That was important.
Fluttershy joined them anf started to run. She, after minutes of searching, found her mother's room. It was half empty. Rarity went along with her marefriend and hugged her dear mother gently, crying the hardest in forever.
"I love you, mom…I'm sorry I didn't let you know it before the accident..."
Rarity closed her eyes and hugged Fluttershy close. Celestia, she was going to make this the best christmas ever. It was more than a promise.
She watched as Fluttershy's mother gave her one last smile, then everything went blank.
Fluttershy woke up in Rarity's salon. She was in the comfortable bed. There were clothes who were on the floor, and were dirty. Rarity entered the room sadly.
"Your mother died, Fluttershy.I'm so sorry. But, as soon as she saw you faint, she told me to tell you that she loves you.I am so sorry again sweetie. I just wants to make your winter better, but with a family loss..."
Fluttershy didn't sob this time, but opened the window slowly. She pulled Rarity into a kiss that lasted a few minutes. When they pulled apart, Fluttershy, with teary eyes, looked so excaused and tired, but also... happy?
"Don't apologise. I am so glad I told her. I am so glad you helped me in hardest times, Rarity. I love you, and you are the only pony I want to be with this christmas."
This spark in her, the little light in the dark. Courage.Fluttershy was brave deep down her big heart.
"Sweetie, you are the bravest, strongest and the most wonderful pony I have ever known. Sweetness, Fluttershy. I love you too. And I will never forget the times we spent together. I will cherish them, right here."
Rarity put her hoof on Fluttershy's heart.
"In your heart. You kindness. Your beauty. Your charm. Your everything."
The white unicorn rubbed Fluttershy's mane like those wonderful times. And she was singing the most beautiful lullaby, the lullaby of love. And it was the greatest christmas for Fluttershy. Because her and Rarity shined together.
