> The Break Room > by TheEveryDaySparkle > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > A Visit to Celestia > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "You wouldn't know cool if it bit you in the flank!" Rainbow couldn't believe her friend had said that to her. Her best friend in the world said she didn't know cool. She was practically the coolest Pegasus in Equestria! Rainbow knew she shouldn't be mad at her friend, but she just couldn't help it. All because she said that the design of one of Rarity's dresses wasn't cool enough. Rarity had been furious with her. It appears she didn't know the one rule when it came to fashion designers. Never criticize an artist's work. She was now flying above Ponyville, venting her frustrations on every innocent cloud she saw. "Arrrgh! Why did she have to go and say that! I'm so angry I could...arrrgh!" She punches another cloud, ending its white, fluffy existence. Unbeknownst to Rainbow Dash, her rampant anger did not go unnoticed. In Canterlot Castle, one elegant and regal princess sat on her haunches looking out over her subjects. Out in the distance, she heard a sound. "Huh? What was that sound, Luna?" Celestia asked her younger sister and fellow Diarch of Equestria, Princess Luna. "I do not know dear sister. Could it be an enemy attack?" Celestia simply smiled at her overly cautious sister. "Ahahahaha, no, my beloved sister." She placed a hoof on her shoulder. "I promise. As long as I continue to draw breath, no one who attacks this home of ours will prevail. Now, please, be calm, sister." She smiled wider and Luna relaxed. Then, the sound came closer. "There it is again, sister." Luna said, surprised. "Yes, I hear it now too." Celestia scanned the skies for the source of the sound and saw...Rainbow Dash, flying their way and looking quite upset. "There!" She said as she pointed at Rainbow Dash. "The rainbow maned one?" asked Luna. "But why does she look so upset?" "I don't know, sister, but i am going to find out." Celestia said, waving Rainbow Dash down. Rainbow looked down and noticed that someone was waving at her. It looked urgent, and that made her slow down, forgetting about her anger for a moment as she alighted to the balcony where the princesses were. "What is it Princess Celestia?! Is someone attacking Equestria?! Do you have a quest for us?! Is Discord Causing trouble again?!" Celestia simply laughed again. "Hahahahaha. No, dearest Rainbow Dash. Although I do appreciate your concern, no. This emergency, has to do with you." Rainbow Dash looked confused. "M-me, princess?" She was worried now. What could the princess possibly want with her? Had she done something wrong? Was she in trouble? Celestia saw this and sighed. She was getting so tired of ponies being afraid of simply being in her presence. Was she really that intimidating? If so then that was something she needed to work on. "You are not in trouble, Rainbow Dash. I simply wish to know what is making you so upset." Rainbow Dash stopped. "Well, why didn't you just say so?" Celestia sighed again, but smiled. At least she wasn't afraid of her anymore. Seriously, it was like everypony thought she was a tyrant or something. "Come with me, Rainbow Dash. You can tell me everything while we walk." And that is exactly what she did. Every single solitary detail. > The New Project > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rainbow had been minding her business, hanging out with Twilight and her friends, when Rarity made a comment about her dresses. "Oh, I just love this design! It's to die for!" Rainbow Dash thought that she should take a look. "Hmm, needs to be about twenty percent cooler." "Ah! Rainbow Dash! How could you say such a thing?" "What? I just think it could be cooler." "Cooler? And what, pray tell did you have in mind for this dress?" "I don't know...maybe a little less...frilly?" "Less frilly?! Well I never! It seems to me like you wouldn't know 'cool' if it bit you in the flank!" Rainbow Dash was now finished with her tale. Celestia had listened to every word, and was now laughing slightly. "Yes, Rainbow Dash. I can see how that would be 'very' frustrating." Celestia said sarcastically. "See what I mean?" Rainbow Dash said, unaware that the princess was joking. "I know I shouldn't be mad. She's my best friend, but...I just can't get over it." "Well, if it really is that much of a bother for you, then I believe I have the perfect solution." "Really, Princess Celestia?! You'll help me?" Rainbow Dash said, her hands cupping her face. "Indeed I will. Follow me, if you would." With those words, Celestia changed direction, away from the throne room and down a corridor Rainbow Dash was at least eighty percent sure she'd never seen before. Then again, her and her friends were usually only here for important quests from the princess. They never really had any time to explore the castle. Soon, Princess Celestia stopped at a fairly large wooden door. She looked at Rainbow Dash, a smile on her face. "Welcome Rainbow Dash, to the newest addition to Equestria's Canterlot Castle. The Break Room!" Rainbow had heard it all, but she was too busy staring at the huge expanse of door in front of her to care. It was huge. If there was anything she had ever called the most awesome thing she had ever seen, the sheer size of this door would blow it out of the water entirely. Of course, that's simply what she thought. In truth, the door was only as tall as the doors to the princess' quarters. It was the width of the door that was truly a marvel. It was three whole ponies wide and the lighting and Rainbow Dash's position below it made it seem even wider. Her mouth hung open in awe as Celestia looked at her, pleased with her reaction. "I take it you like the room?" She said, already knowing the answer. "Are you kidding me?! This is the most awesome thing i've ever seen!" Celestia raised a hoof to get her to calm down. "I understand your excitement, Rainbow Dash. Even I was in awe at the finished product of this room. But, If you really wish to view something beyond your very comprehension, I implore you to have a look inside." "Inside?" Celestia simply nodded, and Rainbow Dash pushed open the door. "Experience the true majesty of this room!" She heard Celestia yell in excitement behind her. > Destruction > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rainbow Dash had to admit, for all the hype Celestia had given this room, it...really wasn't anything special. As she walked around, all she saw was random junk scattered around everywhere. Vases were placed everywhere they could be without getting in anyone's way. Which was obviously very easy to do, considering how large this room was. Glass tables were spread out inside the room, and wooden furniture was apparently the dominant species on this strange new planet she had walked into. And yet, as she looked up to the ceiling, her opinion of the room dropped even further. What use was all this space if it was used to hold nothing but junk? She looked around some more, flying around the objects in the room and looking them over one by one. Then, as she saw the thing on the far right wall, she had had enough. Rainbow Dash pouted. What had Celesia expected her to do in here? What were perfectly usable weapons doing in a room full of nothing but trash? She left the room and made her case to the royal alicorn. Celestia simply smiled. "Why don't you try it out?" She said. What? How was she supposed to do that? What exactly was she supposed to try out? "Go on. Pick a weapon and get breaking." Breaking? What was she supposed to break? It was only when she looked back at the room that she understood what the princess had meant. She took note of the smile Princess Luna now wore. She had joined her sister in the journey to this room some time before, but apparently Rainbow Dash never noticed. She reentered the room, grabbing a hammer from the weapon rack and moving towards a vase. She put it in her teeth and brought it down hard on the ceramic surface, smashing it to bits. She still didn't understand it. She looked back to Celestia, who simply smiled wider. She broke another vase, and another, and another, until, at long last she finally stopped. She didn't get why, but as she kept smashing these objects, her anger slowly faded away. She felt just fine now compared to how she had felt only moments before. It was as if these objects had some sort of magic spell placed on them to give some sort of calming effect. She asked Celestia. "There is no magic involved in this process, Rainbow Dash. It is simply you releasing your pent up frustrations." That's what this was about? Rainbow Dash smiled. What followed after was nothing but the sound of breaking objects as she spent hours upon hours of time smashing things and tearing them apart. She soon left the room, a wide smile on her face as she did so. Luna sat on her haunches outside of the room, apparently waiting on her. "Hi Princess Luna! Where's Princess Celestia." "My dear sister has retired for the night. As it is my duty to raise the moon, I must remain awake. Did you enjoy the room, multicolored one?" "It was alright. I think i'll come here again sometime." Luna smiled, and with those words, watched silently as Rainbow Dash left the castle, doing so quietly as to not awaken the sleeping princess Celestia. When she returned to her friends, Rarity was the one to voice the group's worry. "Where have you been, Rainbow?! We were worried sick about you!" "Just out." "Oh, this is all because I said all those horrible things to you isn't it?" "Don't worry about it Rarity. It's all water under the bridge now." "Oh thank heavens! I was so worried you would hate me for what I said. But then, what were you doing, Rainbow Dash?" "Oh nothing. Just....letting off some steam."
