Ponies could feel the very ground shake, all of them frantically looking around for the source. An ear shattering scream filled the air. Thankfully, a certain orange farmer was already heading in that direction. Applejack wasted no time; she instantly knew who the screams belonged to. Putting all of her strength into her hooves she rushed to the front door. The doors busted open and a certain dragon instantly latched onto the first pony he saw. Spike for his part, looked like he had just been on the wrong end of a barbecue; most of his spikes had scorch marks. “Applejack, thank Celestia you're here! Twilight’s in trouble!” That was all the farmer needed to hear, pushing back Spike, she rushed into the castle. Applejack never faulted pushing her body to limits she didn’t know she had, hearing Twilight was in danger was all she needed to push herself. Thankfully, Twilight was not hard to find. All Applejack needed to do was follow the fresh burn marks that ran along the walls. Several shards of crystal also covered the ground, if they were hurting Applejack, she paid no mind. Applejack soon spotted the pony she was searching for laying on the ground. “Twilight!” without delay Applejack darted forward to inspect her friend. Twilight’s body didnt move and seemed to be surrounded by a ring of soot. Applejack let out a breath when she saw no blood, only to scream as she went to touch her; a bolt of magic shot out and struck her. Applejack steadied herself, rubbing the new burn mark on her arm. “Twilight, it's me Applejack, your friend!” There was no response. Applejack gritted her teeth as she touched Twilight once more. Just like last time, a bolt of magic struck her, but the farmer was too stubborn as she pushed through the pain, turning her friend over. Applejack gasped, seeing what was causing the problem. Twilight’s horn was cracked in several places and tiny sparks of magic kept erupting from the cracks. Applejack did her best to avoid the sparks as she hoisted Twilight over her back. She groaned as the magic instantly started to jolt down her back. She wasted no time charging out of the room. Spike didn’t even have time to ask what was happening as Applejack darted by. “No time to explain, tell the others Ah’m takin’ her to the hospital!” Applejack shouted. Spike saluted to nopony, Applejack was already out of sight. With tears running down his face, the poor dragon ran off to find the others. Applejack herself was crying but for different reasons; every other step another bolt of magic would jolt through her body. It felt like white hot liquid was flowing down her back all the way to her hooves, but she pushed through no matter how much the pain hurt. She would get Twilight to the hospital. Finally, she busted through the hospital doors. Her whole body trembled as she used the last bit of strength she had to scream, “Princess Twilight needs help!” Those were the farmer’s final words as she collapsed. Twilight groaned as she came to, she winced as her head started to pound the moment the light hit her eyes. Once she noticed the strange room, she jolted up from her bed. “Where am I?” Twilight asked. Nobody answered Twilight call. It took a moment to gather herself and take in the surroundings. It didn’t take long for her to realize she was in a hospital room. Twilight took a moment and tried to remember the events that lead her here. A small groan from beside her caused her to nearly jump out of her fur. If it wasn't for a familiar hat, Twilight might not have realized it was Applejack. Her friend’s hooves and torso were completely wrapped in bandages. Twilight wanted to wake her friend, only to be stopped by a small cough. ”Perhaps we let her rest. She hasn't left your bedside since you got here.” Twilight visibly relaxed as Nurse Redheart entered the room. “Why is she covered in bandages?” Twilight asked. The princess knew she wouldn't like the answer as Nurse Redheart’s expression hardened. “She took a bunch of magic discharge getting you here. Your horn had many hairline fractures that kept discharging. If a unicorn had found you they wouldn't have been in this bad of shape,” Redheart paused, giving the sleeping farmer a sympathetic stare. Tears instantly fell as Twilight looked at her friend’s current state. She had made her friend hurt because of her stupidity. Nurse Redheart continued, “She is quite a mare, I can only imagine how painful it was getting you here. She must care for you a great deal.” The nurse sighed before looking at Twilight. “Now, her injuries aren't that bad. As for you, well, I must say I'm surprised, I thought you out of all ponies would know their limitations and not cause a magic discharge.” Twilight only stared at her friend as the nurse berated her, not that she would or could argue. She had actually been trying to figure out her new limitations, but no matter how much magic she used, her body wouldn't grow tired. She should have thought about her horn’s limits. Nurse Redheart did not stop her analysis. “Onto your horns condition. It will heal, as there was no serious damage. Honestly, if it wasn't for your massive magic reserves, it probably wouldn't have been so bad. I am going to suggest a month of no magic to give it time to heal.” Twilight finally pulled her eyes away from her friend to look at the nurse. “Only one month, I thought horn damage took almost half a year to heal?” Twilight asked, confused. Nurse Redheart shook her head as she grabbed Twilight’s chart from the bed. “Normally yes, but we think your alicorn blood is speeding up your recovery. Many of the cracks have already sealed themselves.” Twilight’s eyes widened. If what the nurse said was true, she was healing five times faster than normal unicorns. Her excitement died as Applejack’s injuries came back to her mind, glancing once more in the farmer's direction. Redheart spoke, “As regulations state, I alerted all of your friends. You will be under some ponies’ supervision to make sure you don't use magic.” Twilight must have shown some sign of argument because the nurse’s gaze turned cold. “No arguing, your are not only a princess. Your special talent is magic itself. I will not let you live unsupervised, any magic could cause even more harm. Luckily, you're sleeping friend here already made plans and told the others she would take care of you.” Redheart smiled giving Twilight a sly look, “I must say you got yourself a real winner there, Princess.” Twilight’s face light up, like a hearthwarming tree. Raising her hooves she quickly shook her head, “It...it’s nothing like… like that. She’s just a really good friend!” Redheart never stopped smiling as she left the room, leaving Twilight and Applejack alone. Finally, Twilight got a moment to fully take in her friend’s body. Bile formed in her throat as she took in all the damage, several pieces of Applejack’s mane were shorter. Probably having the scorched parts cut. Heavy bags of unrest had formed under the farmer's eyes, and a couple patches of fur seemed to be missing. Even though Applejack didn’t look too damaged, it did not make the Princess feel any better, knowing she was the one who put her friend here in the first place. Another shock came to her when she saw the calendar that sat on the wall, it had been five whole days since her experiment. Looking back at her friend, her eyes widened. Had Applejack stayed by her side the whole time? She could only stare as her mind took in the information. She nearly fell out of her bed when Applejack spoke, “If you keep staring, Ah might think yer checking me out thare, ‘Twi.” Twilight once more felt her face heat up as she darted back, putting space between her and her friend. Applejack only laughed, “Ah’m just messin’ with ya. ‘Twi, don't get yer feathers in a bunch. It's about time you woke up! Me and the gals been worried sick about ya!” Twilight felt tears reform as she spoke. “How can you be so calm? You should be the one they were concerned about.” Applejack smiled, shaking her head. “Oh really, as Ah recall Ah wasn't the one passed out in her bed fur five days. Ah think it's safe to say you were a lot worse off than me. Let's not make this a competition.” Twilight shook her head, tears flowing even faster, sniffing she went to scream, but stopped as a pair of hooves pulled her into a hug. Applejack sighed as she held the trembling mare. ”Now, you listen here. Ah want none of this yer awake and Ah’m walking and talking.” Twilight pulled back, staring straight into Applejack’s unwavering gaze. She couldn't understand it, but there was no sign of anger or regret. All she could see was pure care ‘till she needed to say something, “Applejack I am so sor-” her words were cut short by Applejack's hoof on her lips. Applejack shook her head. “Thare's no need to apologize. You can tell me what happened once we get you home. Ah don' know about you, but these hospital walls are freakin’ boring to look at.” As Applejack got herself ready, Twilight could only sit in shock.  Why didn’t Applejack yell at her? Also, why had she never noticed how beautiful Applejack’s emerald eyes really were? Her face heated up once more as Applejack held out her hoof. These new feelings would have to wait. She would have to first make up for what she did. Luckily, as fate would have it, she had a whole month to look into it. She did, however, have a question that was sitting at the back of her mind. “Why did you volunteer to be the one to help me?” For the first time, Applejack faulted as her face heated up, she half-heartedly laughed, hiding her face from Twilight. “Ah ummm… had the easiest schedule to work with. It’s gettin’ near winter and there wasn't much to do on the farm.” Twilight’s brow raised as Applejack looked away from her. “I kinda figured Fluttershy would want to help me, not that I don't appreciate it.” Once more, Applejack faulted keeping her face covered. “She umm did, but Ah had already volunteered. Yeah. Ah guess you can say Ah beat her to the punch.” Now Twilight was even more curious as Applejack’s hat went lower covering even more of her face. Did Applejack just lie to her? She wasn't able to think on it for long as Applejack spoke. ”Now come on, Ah want to go cook us a good meal. Not this nasty grub they serve here.” At the mention of food Twilight’s stomach growled. For the first time since she woke, a smile broke through. “That sounds amazing, thank you for taking care of me Applejack.”   Applejack smiled, pulling Twilight into another embrace. Things were certainly going to get interesting for the two, and for some reason Twilight was happy Applejack was the one with her. > True Friendship and So Much More. > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- True Friendship and So Much More. Many ponies would say that most of your problems stayed at the hospital. This may be true for most, but to a certain princess who now couldn't use magic, it was not so. One problem Twilight found was being waited on head and hoof, not that she didn’t mind the help nor the show. However, she was going mad. “Applejack, not that I don't appreciate your help, but you do know I'm a grown mare and not a newborn filly, right?” Applejack only smiled, continuing to clean the kitchen from the earlier food. Twilight wanted to scream as Applejack babied her, however every time she came close to snapping, the bandages on her friend’s body would stop her. Applejack had already given so much. Who was she to yell at her? Calming herself she spoke, “Can you at least let me make the tea, I’m growing restless just sitting here watching you do everything.” Applejack shook her head, giving Twilight a small smile, “No can do ‘Twi, it's only been a day since we left the hospital and you can't use any magic. Doctor’s orders.” Twilight had enough. Leaving her spot at the table, she grabbed the empty kettle with her teeth. Making sure to give Applejack a triumphant smirk she placed it in the sink. The farmer only laughed, “Alright Miss Smartypants, why don't you turn on the sink and fill it? And remember - no magic.” Twilight smirked. This was going to be easy. And maybe after she proved herself, Applejack would lighten up. With determination, she tilted the tea kettle with her mouth while trying to find the faucet handle with her hoof. Soon she found it and turned it only to shierk and fall back as her head became soaked in cold water. Applejack let a giggle. Escape looking at Twilight's shock and wet face, turning off the faucet she grabbed a towel and ran it through her friend’s mane. “Sugarcube don't take this the wrong way. Ah’ve only ever seen you use magic for well almost everything. Remember your first Winter wrap up?” Twilight blushed as she grumbled, sporting an adorable pout. Applejack chuckled as she filled the kettle. Twilight sat in silence, sulking as she watched Applejack make everything look easy. What her friend had said was true: almost all unicorns used their magic for all small tasks. Applejack sighed, noticing Twilight’s displeasure. “Ain't nothin’ to be ashamed of sugar, Ah haven’t been doing this in forever. Heck, you losing yer horn would be like me losing one of my front legs. Trust me, it would take a little time for me to adjust as well.” Twilight’s mood brightened,  but only a little as Applejack finished the kitchen. Placing the kettle on the burner, she smiled. Glancing at Twilight, she frowned as the smell hit her nostrils. Applejack gulped she knew what had to be done, but also knew the Princess was not going to be happy about it. “Now, Ah know your not going to like this ‘Twi, but Ah think it's high time Ah gave you and me a bath. We both kinda smell.” Twilight’s reaction was instant as her wings sprung up erect, her face turning a deep shade of red as she stuttered. “Wh...What? Me, yo...you. Bath together!” Applejack shook her head as the purple princess started to frantically wave her hoofs. She knew this was going to be an issue, giving herself a second she took her big sister stance and locked eyes with Twilight. “Now you listen here, ‘Twi. You can barely fill a kettle let alone be able to wash yourself effectively. We are both mares and close friends. Please let me help you! Ah don't want you hurting yerself by mistake.” Twilight’s flailing stopped as she found herself once more lost in her friends beautiful emerald eyes. Yet again, she could only see pure honest concern in those eyes. Twilight gulped as she steeled herself, soon she gave Applejack a small nod. Besides, it wasn't like she really had a choice. She knew Applejack wouldn't let up. Offering her hoof, Applejack smiled, helping Twilight off the floor. “Now let's go get cleaned up. Ah don't know about you, but Ah don't like smelling like a barn.” Twilight didn’t respond. She seemed to be in a daze, so many thoughts rolled around in her head. Was this really happening? Was she about to bath with not only a close friend but a mare who she started to have mixed feelings about? She was so lost in thought, that it took Applejack’s voice to pull her from them. “Wow Twilight, this bathroom is huuuuge. Man, Ah bet Rarity was a might jealous when she saw this.” Twilight only nodded, still not trusting her own words. The bathroom, like many other rooms in the castle, was pretty huge. The tub itself could easily sit three ponies. Twilight felt a tiny pang of sorrow the big rooms only showed how lonely the castle could be. The sound of running water pulled her out of her thoughts. Turning, she went to thank Applejack for being here, only to have her words die in her throat. She could only stare as Applejack removed her hairbands allowing the golden locks to fall around her face. Beautiful was the only word that came to her mind as she watched Applejack shake her mane. Realizing what she was doing, the Princess shook herself as her face heated up once more. If Applejack had noticed her stares, she paid them no mind. Placing her hoof in the water, she smiled, “Well, Ah believe it is ready. So, Ah think the Princess should get in first.” Twilight sat frozen; only her eyes moved as they darted between Applejack and the tub. The farmer took the matter into her own hooves noticing Twilight wasn't budging. Twilight’s reaction was instant as she was lifted from the ground, “Applejack, what do you think-” her words were cut short as she was dropped into the tub. Gasping for air, the Princess trashed around only to glare at her snickering friend. Applejack smiled, wasting no time as she plopped into the other side. “Sorry fur the surprise, but we didn’t have all day, ‘Twi. So, Ah treated you like my little sis’. Besides, stop freaking out.” Twilight humphed, turning away from her friend. Applejack just smiled while she grabbed the soap and brush that lay beside her. Twilight yelped as the brush ran down her back causing her to shiver at the contact. After a few more brushes Twilight felt herself start to relax as Applejack lathered her coat. Applejack’s slow hums only helped the poor Princess relax even more. Applejack did her best to get Twilight clean. As she scrubbed, she noticed the poor condition of the Princess's wings. Gulping, Applejack steeled herself as she spoke, “Sugarcube, how long has it been since you last preened your wings?” Twilight stiffened at the question but did not answer. In all honesty, she didn’t really remember when her last preening was. Applejack just shook her head, this wouldn't be the first time Twilight didn’t take care of herself. “Listen ‘Twi, Ah’m gonna go ahead and preen them for you. Just extend your wing.” In a flash of speed Twilight darted to the other side of the tub. Her eyes were wide as saucers and her face a bright scarlet. “What! Applejack! I know you want to help, but preening to Pegasi is a very intimate act of affection! Only your special somepony should do it!” Applejack sat and blinked before busting up laughing. “Oh sugarcube, you sometimes read waaay too much. Ah have helped Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy before. Yes, preening can be done by your special somepony, but it can also be done by close friends and family.” Twilight still didn’t looked convinced, but slowly started to move closer to the farmer. “And since Rainbow Dash kept crashing into my trees, Ah took it upon myself to learn so Ah could help her. Ah guess Ah do a pretty good job, ‘cause soon enough, Fluttershy came by askin’ fur help as well.” Yet again, Twilight found herself drawn toward Applejack’s eyes. They still only held honesty and comfort in their green depths. Biting her lip, she turned around, extending her wing. Applejack thanked her before grabbing the appendage and getting to work. Twilight's mind was going a mile a minute. So many confusing emotions hitting her all at once and feeling Applejack's mouth on her feathers did not help. She couldn't help it as a moan left her lips, causing her to try to pull her wing away only to have a strong pair of hooves stop her. “It's fine ‘Twi, Ah know it feels good just sit back and try to relax.” Twilight visibly shivered as she relaxed, closing her eyes once more. She did everything in her power to keep quiet but to no avail; Applejack’s work felt like pure magic she felt like pudding in her hooves. Soon enough, Applejack had finished both wings. Twilight was too far gone to notice sometimes during the preening she had completely pushed herself against her friend. Her head now lay against the farmers shoulders. If Applejack minded, she didn’t show it. Applejack smiled, placing her hooves in Twilight’s mane as she scrubbed shampoo in it.. Twilight hissed as the hooves dug into her scalp. “Applejack, could you be a little more gentle with my scalp?” It was Applejack’s turn to blush as she pulled back. “Ah’m sorry Twi, Applebloom gets so dirty some times Ah kinda got use to having to scrub reel hard to get all the dirt out.” Twilight only nodded as Applejack went to work, she couldn't remember the last time she felt so relaxed and she definitely couldn't remember the last time she had felt so safe. Soon she felt the hooves leave her mane and the water shifted around her. Twilight turned to see Applejack stepping out of the tub. Before she could speak Applejack beat her to the punch, “You go ahead and rinse off, Ah’m gonna go check on the food. Just holler if you need help out of the tub, Twi.” Twilight only nodded as her friend headed out. Once she was finally alone, Twilight had time to gather her thoughts. First, why was she just now noticing Applejack’s beauty?  Second, when did she start having feeling for the farmer? Everything was happening all too fast for the mare and not having her magic didn’t help. Sighing, she slowly got out of the tub and dried herself off. These thoughts would need further study for now. She would just have to sort things out. Twilight smiled as Applejack’s food hit her nostrils, her smile only grew as the farmer came into sight. Applejack smiled as she sat at table. “Well, Ah’m glad we had that bath, don't know about you, but Ah feel great.” Twilight smiled, sitting down next to her friend and watched as Applejack started to eat. Applejack paused when she noticed Twilight staring before sitting up, “Shoot ‘Twi, Ah forgot you might need help eating.” Twilight snapped out of her trance when she saw Applejack lift some food to her. Shaking her head she spoke, “I can eat just fine, I was just entranced by the beauty… of this meal you made.” Applejack's cheeks flash pink, “Ain’t a big deal, sugarcube. Now, after this here meal, Ah need to go check on the farm. It will only be a few hours Ah’ll be gone, will you be okay alone?” Twilight smiled as she nodded. This alone time would allow her to look into her new feelings. It would be kind of hard to do that with the pony who was causing them to be right beside her. Applejack chuckled, finishing the last of her meal, standing up she smiled at Twilight. “Well, Ah will see you in a few hours and remember  - no magic.” Twilight nodded as Applejack left the kitchen. She spoke once more, “Also, the cast on your horn will let me or Spike know you tried to use magic, so don't try.” Soon the only noise Twilight heard was the clicking of the front door. Twilight wasted no time as she hurried to stuff down her food. Once her plate was cleared she darted to her study to grab some parchment and quills. She needed answers and she knew just the pony to give them. Quickly she told Spike of her destination and promised the dragon she would use no magic she soon departed. As she neared her destination she felt her nerves catching up to her. Soon an all too familiar door stood in front of her, she couldn't figure out why it was so intimidating now. She had been at this door so many times before, but she never had been here seeking romantic advice. Twilight steeled herself as she walked in only to be pulled into a hug. “Twilight, darling, it's so good to see you!” > Research and True Feelings > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Research and True Feelings. Twilight sat idly by as Rarity kindly asked her customers to leave. She apologized and even offered discounts. Twilight tried to tell her she could come back, but Rarity wouldn't have it. Twilight now sat, sipping the tea she had been offered while the fashionista emptied her shop. It did, however, give Twilight time to think of the questions she would ask her friend. The soft click of the boutique’s door pulled Twilight from her thoughts. Soon Rarity sat down across from her with a gentle smile, “It’s so good to see you outside that dreaded hospital. You gave us all quite a fright there,Twilight.” Twilight’s ear ell flat as she glanced down at her hooves, of course her stupid act also caused stress to the rest of her friends. Rarity noticed the sudden mood change and quickly changed the subject. “Well, let's cut to the chase, I can tell there is something troubling you, dear.” Twilight glanced around and gulped. It was now or never. Looking at her friend, she smiled. Rarity just smiled back nodded her head for her to speak. Composing herself, Twilight took a moment to think. She could handle this! All she needed to do was ask a bunch of questions that would lead her friend to giving her the answer. Twilight looked at her friend once more and the words just slipped out. “I really need advice! I think I have a crush on a friend and she’s a mare!” As the words left her mouth Twilight’s face turned crimson and she brought a hoof to her mouth. Rarity could only blink as Twilight’s words sank in. The Princess was already folding onto herself. It took all of Rairity’s will power not to giggle as she spoke. “Well, that was not what I was expecting. None the less you came to the right place Twilight, it would be my pleasure to help you.” Twilight pulled out of her ball but did not remove her hoof, afraid she might speak to much again. Rarity chuckled while shaking her friend, “Twilight, there is nothing wrong with having a crush on one of our friends. They’re all very beautiful mares, especially Applejack.” Twilight let out an eep that could rival Fluttershy’s as her eyes widened. “How did you know it was Applejack?!” Rarity couldn't help herself as she started to laugh, “Oh Twilight, you're too easy. I didn’t know I made a guess, you just answered it for me.”  Rarity cringed as Twilight slammed her head on the table. It was hard enough that several of the glasses shook. Rarity smiled, “I think it's sweet you have a crush on her, but let me give some words of caution.” Twilight lifted her head rubbing the now red spot she caused, giving Rarity a questioning look.  “I don't think this is it, but you may be suffering from damsel in distress syndrome. Let me explain: you were saved by Applejack, which puts her on this shining pedestal. Lots of ponies fall for their heroes, but sometimes the glamour doesn't last.” Twilight looked down at her hooves, letting her thoughts roll around. It was true, Applejack did save her, but they have all saved each other many times. Wouldn't she have felt these feelings before? Before she could ask Rarity spoke again, “I personally don’t think that’s the case. You do have a golden opportunity, though, to find out. The next month will allow you all the time to assess your true feelings for her.” This caused Twilight to smile she could treat her new feelings like an experiment. Her demeanor fell, causing Rarity’s brow to raise in question. Thankfully, Twilight went ahead and explained, “Even if my feelings are true, it could ruin our friendship. Who even knows if she likes mares or could even like me in that way?” Rarity started to laugh, but stopped, noticing the Princess's defeated look. Placing a hoof on top of Twilight’s, she smiled, “I didn’t mean to laugh darling, I just think it's funny you don't think Applejack cares for you.” Twilight’s eyes widened. Once more leaning in, “I’m not promising anything, but there are a bunch of signs pointing in that direction. First, you are the only one she gives a nickname. She doesn't call me Rares, or Pinkie, Pinks. She doesn't even call Rainbow Dash, Dashie, but she calls you ‘Twi.” It took a moment for Twilight to register her friend’s words. They were true, no matter how much she tried, she couldn't remember Applejack giving anypony else a nickname except members of her own family. Rarity continued her speech, “Second, as much as it pains me to say it, she is the most level headed out of all of us. Yet she did not hesitate to put herself in harm's way and carried you all the way to the hospital. Even though I am right beside your castle and we both know she’s smart enough to realize I could have carried you by magic.” Rarity smiled, giving Twilight a wink. “And last but most important, how many times has Applejack called us out when we had done something stupid? It took her only a second to call me out when I treated you all so poorly in Manehattan. How many times has she put Rainbow Dash in her place when her head got too big? I only bring this up because I’m a hundred percent sure she hasn't said one negative thing to you once since you woke.” Twilight’s ears perked up at the last one. Rarity’s words hit her hard. It was so true, Applejack would always call ponies out on their mistakes, including her own. Rainbow Dash would have had her head torn off if she had done something as dumb as Twilight. Rarity brought up some very valid points, but she still needed information. Rarity sat back with a smile, watching her friend contemplate her words. In all honesty, she had a good feeling the farmer had feelings for the Princess. It was all so perfect, who would have thought Twilight had feelings as well. Twilight closed her eyes with a sigh. Would it be all that bad to maybe push Applejack to find her answers? If she pushed too hard, Applejack would tell her to stop. A laugh escaped as she pictured Applejack telling her something along the lines of her barn door just doesn’t swing that way. Several scenarios played through her mind and none really ended all that bad, their friendship would still hold strong. Twilight opened her eyes; her face showed pure confidence. “Alright, I know what to do,” Twilight said. “You may be right, and it could be a passing phase, so I will use that time to see if there are any signs that Applejack feels the same.” Twilight giggled, clapping her hooves together, “I can treat it like a science experiment, which is just what I need to keep my mind off the no magic thing. Thanks so much, Rarity!”   Rarity barely had time to blink as Twilight rushed out. She smiled, glad she could help her friend, now if she could only help herself with her crush... Applejack smiled as Twilight’s Castle came into view. To her surprise, most of her chores had been complete, Big Mac thought ahead and got Carmel to come help. She smiled now. She would get to spend more time with Twilight, and she couldn't be happier. For a while now, she had feelings for her friend. At first, she tried to push them off, but soon found herself falling for the beautiful princess. Her smile slightly dropped, there had been several times she thought about being honest with Twilight, she would always stop herself. In all truth, she was fine with Twilight not knowing, she just always had hope. Once the door came into view, her smile grew. Maybe now she would find the courage to talk to her friend. Twilight and Applejack were always so busy, that she never had time to really look into the Princess’s preferences. Not that she would ever wish her friend to come to harm, but like Granny always said, ‘Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.’ Knocking, Applejack laughed, hearing Twilight scramble around inside.”Come on in Applejack, just mind the mess.” Shaking her head, she stepped inside, only to stare at the strone out mess. The floor was covered in graphs, charts, scrolls, and quills. Twilight was just trying her hardest to push things into a corner. Twilight stopped a blush graced her face. “Sorry about the mess, it was a lot easier to keep things clean when I had magic.” Applejack chuckled, gathering up piles of scrolls to help. They both cleaned in silence until Applejack noticed a strange open journal sitting on the ground. It must have been fairly new, since that only a few pages had been used. Twilight looked up to see what had the farmer's attention, gasping when she saw Applejack head toward her new journal. In a rush, she dashed forward swiping the book away and hid it behind her back. Applejack only blinked as Twilight laughed, “This is umm... a special journal. I don't want anypony seeing it.” Twilight’s breath caught in her chest, hoping Applejack wouldn't question further. Applejack just shook her head before going back to cleaning. A couple more minutes passed and Applejack noticed something was missing, or someone. “Hey Twilight, uhhh, where's Spike?  Ah figured he be helping ya out with this whole mess.” Twilight just blinked the question somewhat throwing her off. “Oh, he’s staying at Rarity’s tonight,” Twilight explained. “She asked if she could borrow him to help her out with some stuff, so since I had you, I figured there was no harm in it.” Applejack nodded and went back to her task, as the two finished their clean-up, Twilight couldn't help but sneak glances at her friend, taking in her beauty, she kept finding herself pulled to her friend’s toned physique. Thankfully, Applejack never seemed to notice. Twilight broke the silence. “I really want to thank you, Applejack. I don't know where I’d be if it wasn't for your bravery.” Applejack tilted her hat to hide her blush at Twilight’s praise. There was something in her friend's voice that made her smile, “It was nothin’ ‘Twi, Ah would’ve done it in a heartbeat for ya. Yer always helpin’ everypony else, it's only fair we help you out as well.” Twilight smiled, sprouting her own blush. Soon the mess was cleaned and both mares headed to the kitchen to eat. Twilight did a check-list in her head as she spoke, “Applejack, would you mind showing me some better ways to cook? You so good at it without magic, I figured you could show me some tricks.” Applejack blushed and nodded; she was more than happy to oblige. Several minutes later, the kitchen had become a mess. Twilight head hung in embarrassment at the site. Applejack laughed as she sat the table, “Don't sweat it ‘Twi, it takes practice to get used to usin’ yer mouth fur a lot of thangs. Heck, Pinkie Pie, still the only earth pony Ah know how can talk while baking.” Even with her friend’s encouragement, Twilight couldn't help but look at the mess. Several uncooked or burned hay waffles laid on the ground, she had gotten making them easy. When it came time to flip them however was when the mess happened. She had lost track at how many times she failed, Applejack said nothing as she started to eat. After they finished, Applejack sat back with a smile. “Well, fur yer first attempt Ah’d say you did better than Applebloom. Ah swear, that girl’s cookin’ almost killed me.” Twilight let a laugh slip as she finished her own meal, soon both mares cleaned their mess and went to take another shared bath, mostly to get the batter out of their fur. Once they left the bath, Twilight’s nerves grew. The poor mare was having an inner battle, she had one more test for the night and it was nearing that time. It didn’t help that the longer they were together, she would get lost in Applejack's beauty. Shaking herself, Twilight spoke “Applejack, I have a fun nighttime activity if you want to give it a try?” Applejack’s brow raised, but she saw no harm in whatever it was and nodded. It took all of Twilight’s will power not to jump for joy. Instead she spoke, “Great! I will go get some blankets if you will start a fire for us.” Applejack did what she was told, not really worried about Twilight’s plans. She was just happy to be spending time with the Princess. She just wish she knew why Twilight was acting a little strange, not that she minded being looked at, but she caught her staring a couple of times. There was also a lot of silence between the two and they never had a problem talking before. She was pulled from her thoughts as Twilight grunted trying to pull way too many blankets with her. Applejack chuckled as she went to help. Very soon, a nice bed of blankets and pillows sat in front of the fireplace. Twilight smiled as she pulled out a book she knew all too well and spoke, “So when Cadance filly sat me, we would sit in front of a fire and read to each other. It was a great way to pass the time.”   Twilight smiled as she snuggled into the blankets patting the spot beside her for Applejack to join her. Applejack blushed she couldn't believe her luck, taking off her Stetson hat, she laid it next to her friend. As she got into the blanket she spoke, “Me and Applebloom would do the same thang if she couldn't sleep. Ah think it will be fun.” Twilight bit her lip as Applejack settle down beside her, it was time for the next phase. Opening the book, Twilight took a moment to slide closer to Applejack intel she could feel the farmer's fur against her own. Twilight smiled when Applejack made no move to put space between them.   Several hours passed as the two mares read to each other. Applejack had found herself enthralled with the story, it had been about a lowly maid falling for a knight. She almost didn’t notice the soft snores against her. She smiled as she looked at her friend, at some point Twilight had draped a wing around her and now had her face buried in her chest. Applejack closed the book, trying her best to not disturb the sleeping Princess. She took a moment and petted Twilight’s mane, glancing at the dying embers of the fire. Applejack let her sleep, taking hold as she pulled Twilight into a deeper embrace, maybe telling the truth wouldn't be as hard as she thought. > The Decision, Question and Answer > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Decision, Question and Answer Twilight woke from her slumber with a smile. It had been almost two weeks since her accident and her new feelings toward her friend had started. The two couldn't be more closer, they did everything together, such as teaching each other new things and spending as much time together as possible. Applejack would teach her how to do more things the Earth Pony way. In return, Twilight would help Applejack with mathematics and taxes all to help the farm. Everything they did brought them closer together, even their baths would end up with them fur-to-fur. Twilight had already accepted her feelings for the farmer and they only grew deeper. Twilight glanced around, in hopes of spotting her friend, though the only thing she found was Applejack’s stetson hat sitting on a chair. Twilight bit her lip as she looked for the farmer once more. Seeing she was truly alone, she proceeded to put the stetson hat on. She headed towards a mirror and smiled at her reflection, taking a moment as she ran her hoof around the brim. It felt comforting. It was like she had a piece of Applejack with her. She never noticed the smiling mare that leaned against the doorway. “Ah think it looks real good on ya, ‘Twi.” Twilight, for her part, did not scream, she did however shoot into the air and grabbed onto a chandelier. She caught her breath as she looked down at a smiling Applejack. Once she landed, she went to try to explain what she was doing with the hat. Only to be stopped by Applejack’s hoof touching her shoulder. “Calm down ‘Twi, Ah’m not mad, but can Ah have my hat back?” Twilight’s face light up, she couldn't even look her friend in the face as she handed the hat over, cursing herself for being careless. Applejack smiled, giving the embarrassed Princess a nuzzle and taking her hat back. “Now, Ah got up early to make you some breakfast. Ah’m going to go check up on the farm and buy us some groceries. Ah should only be gone a couple of hours.”   Twilight only nodded, still not wanting to look her friend in the eyes, her face still red from earlier. Applejack just shook her head and said her goodbyes. As soon as the door shut, Twilight flew into action and rushed down stairs. Pulling her saddle bags out, she dug in to pull out the very same journal Applejack had seen before. Many more pages had filled since then. Opening to a new page, she wrote down Applejack’s reaction to her wearing her hat. Twilight cringed as she remembered when Rainbow Dash took it and put it on as a prank. Applejack would have skinned her alive if Big Mac hadn't stopped her. After Twilight read through all her notes she had compiled and the last entry was all she needed, her decision was made. Quickly she rushed to eat the meal AJ had prepared for her. As soon as the food was gone, she headed out toward the Carousel Boutique, she had wound up spending most of the time Applejack was gone. Rarity was always more than willing to help answer any questions she might have. Rarity had also told her she had a crush on a mare as well but wouldn't tell her the name. It kinda become a game between the two mares. Rarity could only smile as she watched her friend pace around like an excited school filly. “So... I have it all planned out, I did exactly what you said and I know I want to be with her. Now all I can do is hope she returns the feelings.” Rarity shook her head even with all the stories Twilight had told her. She still had doubts that Applejack had feelings for her, heck, the little Sweetie Belle had eavesdropped on would make most ponies say the farmer wanted to be little more than friends with the Princess. “Well Twilight, after going over your many different charts, I must say, this is a very romantic idea, it's simple and very sweet. She should fall head over hooves for you.” The princess slowed her pacing down a little, but continued to pace around. Sighing, Rarity shook her head, “I know you're nervous, but seriously darling you have nothing to worry about. Since the two of you been living together you've practically been joint at the hip.” Twilight finally stopped her pace, only to pull more scrolls out of her satchel. Rarity hung her head in defeat as the Princess started reading her many notes.  Many of them were just different ways it could turn out, ranging from Applejack asking her hoof in marriage right on the spot to getting bucked in the face. Rarity tried once more to breach through her friend’s paranoia. “Twilight, I’m telling you that you're digging to deep!” Rarity snapped. ‘It's going to be fine!” Twilight finally stopped, giving Rarity a cocky smirk. “Really, if you're so positive why haven't you asked your own crush? I believe you said you two would be perfect together?” Rarity had to give her that one as her face light up. Twilight only smiled, going back to her notes. Rarity was not to be bested, after taking a moment to compose herself she smirked back. “True, but our situations are totally separate. My crush is a loose cannon and a hoof full already, where your crush is simple and already a very mature mare. Plus, and I mean this in no demeaning way, but Applejack is very predictable, unlike my crush.” Twilight said nothing as she read her notes, snapping up she gasped. “Your crush is... Pinkie Pie?” Rarity could not control herself, bursting into a laugh the fashionista almost fell out of her chair. Twilight blushed looking away, “You don't have to laugh so hard, it kinda makes sense.” Sucking in a breath, Rarity calmed her laughter, giving Twilight a small smile.   “Don't get me wrong dear, Pinkie Pie is a very sweet mare and will make somepony very happy. Alas, she is a ball of chaos. I don't think I could handle that. You misunderstood. my crush is a loose cannon but not that loose.” Twilight went to question only to be stopped by Rarity’s hoof. ‘’Now enough about me, I do believe we have a very special night to plan.” Many things at the apple farm were repetitive, a day-by-day routine. Applejack had her fields to tend and her brother had his own, heck, several times they wouldn't see each other ‘till the end of the day. So when her brother approached her it was a rare sight to see, Applejack’s curiosity grew as her brother pointed to their talking tree. Now she was starting to get worried. Her brother never stopped work unless it was important. The last time they talked was when he wanted her opinion of him dating a certain zebra. Sighing, she pushed her last bucket of apples to the side and headed over to where her brother now sat. Several minutes of silence passed as the two sat beside each other, Applejack knew not to push her brother. If he had something to say he would say it when he was good and ready. Finally, his strong voice broke the silence. “Sis, Ah’m not blind nor am Ah dumb. These past two weeks Ah have never seen you this happy in a long time. So my only question is... when are we having the Princess here for dinner?” Applejack blushed as she hung her head, of course her brother would see right through her. They had always had a close bond, she knew for weeks that her brother was seeing somepony. She only wanted him to tell her when he was ready, when there were no secrets between them. Readying herself, she went to speak, only to be stopped by her brother’s hoof. His attention was straight ahead, to her surprise the very Princess they were talking about was approaching them. Big Mac said nothing as he walked away, not that he needed to. His silence spoke a thousand words. With haste, Applejack headed toward her friend. “Howdy ‘Twi, what brings you all the way out here. Did something happen while Ah was gone?” Twilight smiled and blushed at her friend's concern, but shook her head. “Nothing like that, as a matter of fact I was planning a night of stargazing together. I know how much you don't want me to over push myself, so I figured I would ask you to prepare us a picnic basket so we could have some dinner while we looked at the stars.” As the words left her mouth, Twilight’s blushing intensified as she pretended to look at a very interesting piece of grass. Applejack couldn't help but smile. Twilight always looked cute when she was nervous. “That sounds like a real hoot ‘Twi, of course Ah won't mind making the grub. Are ya sure you don' need help getting everything else set up?” Twilight shook her head while trying to fight the urge of clapping her hooves together. Reaching into her saddle bag, Twilight pulled out a note and passed it to Applejack. The farmer froze in place as Twilight brushed up against her, nuzzling her neck before pulling away. Twilight said her goodbyes and told her the time. All Applejack could do was sit in shock. She almost didn’t notice the location Twilight had put in the note. A smile bloomed on her face when she read it, she knew the spot all too well. It had to be a sign, there were no more excuses tonight. She would ask Twilight out. Applejack was so excited, she never noticed her smiling brother off in the distance. “Go get your Princess, sis’. Eeyup.” Applejack’s nervousness grew as she neared her destination. The confidence she felt earlier was nearly gone as the night grew closer. Her brother was right though, being with Twilight, these past week had made her truly happy. She didn’t know who to thank but it had been an amazing couple of weeks. She didn’t want to count her chickens yet, but the Princess slowly came out of her shell and was showing a lot more affection for the farmer. Applejack smiled as a familiar and very important apple tree came into view. She also couldn't help but giggle at her panicking friend, who at the moment kept trying to see if the quilt she had laid down was perfectly straight. Twilight would pull one corner only to go to the other side to pull on it as well. Applejack stared watching the cute display. Letting out a laugh, she spoke, “Twi, Ah think it’s straight enough.” Twilight, for her part, did not squeal in surprise, but her heart did skip a beat as she took in her friend’s appearance. The farmer’s coat seemed to shine. It look very well brushed and clean, even her hair had a gleam to it. There was no make-up, not that Applejack needed it, her natural beauty would make many mares jealous. Applejack smiled as she walked up to the tree Twilight had picked for their spot and put her hoof on it. Twilight’s mind went into instant overdrive, as Applejack sniffled. Had she done something was there some strange apple tradition she broke. She could have sworn this tree was off the apple land. Thankfully, Applejack didn’t let her freak out much longer. “Ah’m guessing you use this spot a lot?” Twilight only nodded, afraid to speak. This spot was one of the most open areas around ponyville Now she was sure the tree belonged to the Apples. Applejack must have noticed Twilight’s distress, smiling she spoke, “You did nothing wrong ‘Twi, this tree is not part of the farm. It does hold a very strong meaning though.” Applejack smiled running her hoof up the bark, like she was feeling the tree’s very life. A small tear fell down her face as she spoke, “To be honest, Ah’m glad someone uses it, this tree was planted by my parents.” Twilight gasped in surprise. She had no idea this tree was that important. Her ears fell against her head. Her perfect night was ruined. She went to apologize, only to stop as Applejack gave her the biggest smile she had ever seen… from anyone other than Pinkie, that is.. “Thanks fur picking this here spot, mah parents had planted this tree away from the farm on purpose. Mah Pa was always a sweetheart, he told mah Ma that if this tree grew with no help, it would be a symbol of their love’s strength.” Twilight soon found herself crying as well with a small smile on her face. This was the most Applejack had ever talked about her parents, they sounded like very sweet ponies. Applejack dried her tears before sitting down beside the Princess.  “Ah’m glad you brought me out here, Ah need to visit it more often. Enough about the past. Don't we have some stargazin’ to do?” Twilight smiled. It may have not been the start she wanted to their night but Applejack had just opened up to her in ways she had never seen. The night had gone great, Twilight was in a state of complete bliss. Every passing moment had been amazing; Applejack had been truly curious about the constellations. More than once the mares found themselves side-by-side laughing and enjoying each others’ warmth. Sadly, as the night grew to a close, Twilight found herself growing more nervous by the second she wanted to ask the question that sat at the back of her mind. She still had her doubts though. Rarity's voice echoed through her head, ‘What's life without a little risk, darling?’ Twilight took in a very deep breath as her confidence grew, looking straight into her friend’s emerald-green eyes. “Applejack, can we talk?” Applejack leaned back in curiosity, Twilight lost some of her willpower looking away, not meeting her friend’s gaze. She kept her eyes away as she spoke, “I’ve had a lot of things on my mind and plenty of time to think about my feelings.” Twilight steadied herself. She could do this, looking up she meet Applejack’s gaze once more. “These past few weeks have been the happiest weeks I have had in a long time. Everytime I wake up, I’m so happy to see you there, when you're beside me I feel safe.” Twilight sighed, her hooves started to shake as she neared her point. “What I’m trying to say is, I don't want to ruin our friendship.” Twilight almost yelled as the words got caught in her throat, “I don't know why this is so hard to as-” Twilight stopped as Applejack’s hat was placed on her head, before she could respond a pair of lips pressed against her own. All natural thought flew out the window, as time itself seemed to stopped. Twilight could only close her eyes as she leaned into the kiss, there were no fireworks, no marching band. It was just her and Applejack sharing their feelings in a simple kiss and that was magic in itself. Twilight’s mind had almost gone blank as Applejack pulled her into a tighter embrace their lips never parting. Even though time seemed to stop, the moment of bliss had to end as Applejack pulled away with a smile. “So, Princess Twilight Sparkle, would you do the honor of being this simple farmer’s marefriend?” The reaction was instant as Twilight’s wings flared darting forward. Both mares rolled of the blanket as Twilight pulled Applejack into another kiss. Pulling back Twilight smiled. “Yes, yes, yes, yes!” Applejack laughed as she pulled Twilight down for another kiss. Neither mare saw the two comets fly through the sky right above them and they didn’t have a care in the world. > Friends, History and Love > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Friends, History and Love. Twilight’s time of healing was coming to a close. The last week and a half had been truly amazing. Her relationship had gone to whole new levels of intimacy. There was no longer any nervousness between the two, when they wanted to cuddle or just be close they didn’t have to worry about upsetting the other. No longer were there tiny fears of rejection. Twilight may not have been very experienced in love or intimacy, but she could proudly say Applejack was an amazing kisser. Everything the two did together just felt right, their first real date was no exception. Applejack had made a delicious home-cooked meal, she also read a love poem that brought Twilight to tears. The Princess would have never thought words of such beauty could come from her love. They both not only understood one another, they both were truly interested in each other's passions. Twilight could get lost in conversation about science and magic and Applejack could talk for hours about family and farming. They may have not understood everything the other said, but it didn’t matter. They were together and that was all they needed. Twilight smiled as she snuggled deeper into her marefriend’s chest, ever since that night under the tree they would wake up embraced in each other's arms. If they both didn’t have responsibilities they would probably lay together all day, Twilight giggled nuzzling her love. “I know you're awake Jackie, stop pretending to sleep. We have a big day ahead of us.” Applejack smiled, burying her face in Twilight’s mane, mumbling something probably a complaint about being too warm. Twilight shook her head pulling away, but not before placing a small kiss on Applejack’s pouting lips. The farmer sighed, untangling herself from the mess of sheets. “Spoilsport, Ah know we got a lot to do today, it's not mah fault yer so comfy an’ warm.” A blush bloomed as Twilight smiled, even though they were dating Applejack’s praise still caused her to blush. “Trust me Jackie, I would love to stay in bed with you. We agreed today would be the best day to tell our friends. The only real question is, do we want to do it with them all at once or individually?” Applejack didn’t answer as she brushed her mane. Once finished, she headed over to help Twilight with her mane as well. “Personally, Ah think we should tell ‘em one at a time. It would only be fair to let each of them adjust to it at their own pace. Question is... who do we tell first?” Twilight smiled, leaning into the soft pair of hooves that brushed her mane. There was no doubt about it she was truly falling for this mare and her magic hooves. “Good thing I already made a list of who to tell first. I already told you, Rarity pretty much knows already, so we’ll hit her up first. Then I think Fluttershy, followed by Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie last. Don't get me wrong, I love the girl, but she would probably tell the whole town before we even go home.” Giggling, Applejack placed a small peck on Twilight’s cheek. “Of course you’d have a list made. Ah have no problem with the order, jus’ remember, we have dinner at my farm after all this.” Twilight groaned, her friends were one thing but the Apple family was a whole other battle in itself. She really wanted to leave a good impression, especially with Granny Smith. Twilight yelped as a hoof smacked her flank, turning she gave Applejack a deathly glare. The farmer didn’t seemed bothered by the look. “Stop worrying about it, now get off your pretty butt. We won't get anything done with you just sitting there.” Twilight huffed, her blush disappearing as quickly as it came, gathering the last of their things, both mares headed out. Rarity couldn't help but feel proud, watching her two friends sit beside one another. They were simply too adorable, Twilight had been given Applejack’s hat to wear, and the farmer had her tail entwined with the princess’s. Rarity's smile slightly withered as her eyes fell on the bandages that still covered her friend’s legs. “Well I did tell you it would work out Twilight. And might I say you two look perfect together? Also I have a present for you Applejack.” Applejack’s brow raised as Rarity pulled a box that was off to the side placing it in front of her. Rarity’s eyes sparkled as she waited to see Applejack open her gift. Not wanting to upset the fashionista, she opened the box only to gasp, “They’re beautiful, Rarity.” Twilight's curiosity got the best of her as she leaned into to see the contents. Inside set two pair of very well crafted leather leg bands, what truly pulled the eye was the very in depth stitched apples that were connected by many branches. Realizing what they were, Twilight’s ears fell against her head. Rarity did not notice the change in the mare’s mood as she spoke, “I know they’re not my normal works of art, but I wanted you to have something to wear besides those nasty bandages. I even made them from a special leather I got from the Griffin Empire, so they should be able to handle you working in them. Par Celestia savent-ils faire des choses...” Rarity's smile faltered, finally noticing Twilight’s disappointed gaze. Applejack came to the rescue, placing a small kiss on the tip of Twilight’s nose.   “Wel,l that was mighty nice of you Rarity. Ah think Ah’ll go try them on right now.”   Even with Applejack’s reassuring kiss, Twilight still hung her head. Rarity took the opportunity to pull Twilight's attention as soon as the farmer left the room. “I’m guessing she still won't let you look under the bandages, dear?” Rarity asked. Twilight only sighed in response. Rarity smiled, knowing exactly what to do. “Well, if it makes you feel any better, you two are adorable together, and if that doesn't take your mind off it, this probably will.” Twilight lifted her head, giving the mare a curious look only to gasp as Rarit pulled her away from the table and into her dress making room. Twilight gasped once more this time in awe as Rarity showed her the hoof-stitched outfit she made. Twilight instantly recognized the outfit to be a Wonderbolt uniform. Rarity hand stitched the suit with the rainbow thread she had obtained from Cocco. The uniform also had and all too familiar cutie mark etched in the sides. Twilight smiled, grasping the work of art, “Does this mean I can stop pretending I don't know who your crush is?” Rarity laughed, giving Twilight’s shoulder a friendly push. “Hey now, don't go shovin’ mah marefriend ya hear?”   Both unicorns jumped, turning to see Applejack smiling in the doorway. Rarity smiled and nodded as she took in her handywork, Twilight on the other hand had to fight to keep her wings down. The leather bands were perfect, they reached just below Applejack’s knees, some how making the farmer’s already toned legs just pop. The beautiful design made the wraps look like a pair of work boots. Applejack wasted no time walking up to the flustered mare and place a kiss on her. “Well, Rares, Ah can't thank you enough, but me and ‘Twi got to get going when still have the rest of our friends to talk to.” The girls said their goodbyes and Rarity wished them luck as they headed out. As the two lovebirds walked, Applejack couldn't help but notice Twilight’s new silence. Sighing, she pulled Twilight into a hug. “‘Twi listen, ya need to stop frettin’. Let's get through today and if all goes well Ah will let you see mah legs. But you have to promise me you won't freak out, can ya do that?” Twilight nodded, never taking her eyes off the leg wraps. She knew deep down Applejack wasn't hiding them out of shame, she just didn’t want to hurt her. Even knowing her marefriend had forgiven her did not make the guilt weigh any less. “It's fine, Jackie, I know you said you would show me after my magic healed. I just don't like knowing I hurt you." Applejack said nothing as she grasped Twilight’s face, pulling her into a deep kiss. Applejack wasn't mad and in all truth the scars weren't that bad, she just feared Twilight may try to do something stupid if she saw them. “Oh my, I'm s-s-so s-sorry for intruding, I-I-I'll just go back inside, sorry,” a familiar soft voice apologized. Both mares blushed as they turned to see Fluttershy staring wide-eyed at them. Applejack was first to break the silence as she laughed. “Well, Ah guess the cat's out of the bag, huh ‘Twi?” Twilight said nothing as she stood motionless in a state of shock. She had not wanted Fluttershy of all ponies finding out about their relationship in this way.  Applejack waved her hoof in front of the Princess’s face before sighing. “Well, Ah think ya broke her, Fluttershy. Anyway, we both kinda need to tell you something, if you aint already figured it out.” Twilight finally broke from her state of shock and nodded. Fluttershy smiled, “I think it's great you two are together. unless I'm wrong oh I'm so sorry if I'm wrong.”   Fluttershy hid behind her mane as she continued to apologize. After a few more apologies Fluttershy offered them to come inside. Seeing they still had plenty of time, they obliged her. As they sat, Twilight finally spoke, “Yes we are together, we wanted to tell all of you guys today. I guess judging by your smile, that you're okay with us dating.” Fluttershy only nodded. With the tough question out of the way, the three spent some time sharing their story. Fluttershy thought it was very romantic how Twilight tried to ask Applejack out and thought that their dates were adorable. After a few more stories, Fluttershy gave Applejack a long glance, “Do you think Rainbow Dash will take the news well?” Applejack blinked before shaking her head, Twilight only raised a brow having know idea what they were talking about. Grabbing Twilight’s hoof Applejack smiled, “Ah don't think she'll mind. An in all honesty she doesn't have the right to get angry. That happened a long time ago.”  Twilight tightened her grip, giving her comfort the best she could. “‘Twi, Ah need to tell ya something, remember the running of the leaves?” Twilight nodded “Well afterwards, Ah got a surprise, Rainbow Dash showed up at the barn with flowers and she asked me out. Ah don't know if it was the competition or the rush but Ah said yes.” Twilight’s eyes widened. “Ah didn’t think to tell cause it didn’t last all that long, Ah hope you don't think Ah was keeping it from you.” Twilight wasted no time in her response pulling Applejack into a kiss. She smiled, “It’s fine I never asked if you ever dated before. Also, why would it matter? I do have a question though. Why didn’t things work out? You two seem like a perfect match.” Applejack laughed and Fluttershy giggled. “That’s easy, we’re both too stubborn, it also didn’t help that Rainbow Dash kept treating me like some sissy mare. It's kinda hard to connect when one tries to be the stallion. Especially if the other one does not want to be treated like a lady.” Twilight couldn't help but laugh as Applejack impersonated Rarity’s voice at lady. Twilight smiled as she turned to Fluttershy, “Well, it's been real fun but we still have two ponies left to talk to.” So they said their goodbyes and Fluttershy wished them the best of luck as they headed out. They soon found themselves walking along the outskirts of Ponyville in search of their rainbow colored friend. Twilight still had her love’s hat on her head, which although sweet lead to another problem. She wanted to give Applejack something as well, but with no magic it would be hard to make something. She gasped which caused Applejack to stop. “What’s up, sugarcube?” Twilight didn’t answer at first, extending her wing. With a grunt, she pulled a large feather from its tip. Applejack went to question her marefriend odd behavior, only to stop as Twilight placed the feather behind her ear giving the ear a small lick, “There, now you have something of mine as well.” Applejack blushed while she giggled. “You’re sometimes a real silly Princess. You know that, right?” Twilight said nothing as she walked away. Applejack took a moment to touch the feather a small smile appearing. Quickly she went to catch up. Soon both mares were about ready to give up their search, when the search abruptly ended as Dash darted towards them at alarming speeds. Applejack had no time to react as she was tackled to the ground. “What in tarnation do ya thank yer doin’!?” Twilight rushed over to yell at her friend, but stopped, noticing Rainbow Dash’s odd behavior. Rainbow’s eyes darted around looking at the sky as if an attacker was somewhere near. In a frantic voice she spoke “Listen Aj, I'm sorry for tackling you, but you need to remove that feather from your ear. Don't ask, just hide it please.”Applejack would have argued but stopped when she to noticed how strange Dash was acting. Doing as she was told Applejack removed the feather and slid it in one of her leg wraps. As soon as the feather disappeared from sight Rainbow Dash visibly relaxed stepping off her friend offering her a hoof up. “Listen I get that you two are together, awesome by the way. But Twilight how could you not know pegasus mating rituals?” Twilight was stumped, she had read many books on pegasus flight but nothing about mating rites. “I only read about flying, you know, to help me with my wings.” Rainbow Dash sighed giving an apologetic look to AJ. “Listen, I’m sorry for tackling you, but when a female pegasus gives a strong mate a primary feather it's kinda of a rite of passage.” Applejack glanced at Twilight, seeing if she had any idea what Rainbow Dash was talking about. She just shrugged. Rainbow Dash continued, “Well, I know you both know Pegasi were a tribe of warriors. Well when a female found a mate she would give them a primary feather to wear. Then she would watch them for a day, during that time any Pegasus could challenge the mate for rites to the mare.” Twilight was skeptical as she spoke, “I’ve seen plenty of other pegasus with feathers behind their ear. I didn’t see any fights then.” Rainbow Dash said nothing as she pulled a small feather out of her own wing. “Yes, but if it wasn't attached to a earring or a necklace, it probably wasn't a primary feather. This feather here is a secondary feather, it's not as important and grows back very quick. Primaries do not and after the mare decides who the winner is she puts the feather into jewelry for them to wear as a sign of victory.“ Twilight closely inspected the feather, it was significantly smaller than the one she gave AJ. A Pegasus could easily tell the difference. Applejack finally spoke up, “So you were looking up to make sure another Pegasus wasn't coming to claim the feather? Ah appreciate it, but Ah can handle myself, ya know.” Rainbow dash shook her head before blasting into the sky. Applejack and Twilight tried to find her in the sky, but to no avail. Applejack nearly jumped out of her fur when a hoof touched her back. Rainbow Dash smirked as Applejack calmed herself “I know you can handle yourself AJ. There are no rules to the ritual, any pegasus could dive in on you for the rite. Since you didn’t even know you were in a trial could you honestly defend yourself?”   Applejack’s response was kicking the dirt. Dash had her there. Twilight only smiled. It seems that Rainbow had no problem with them dating, but still she had to be sure. “So, I guess you're okay with us dating?” Twilight asked. Rainbow Dash smiled. “Are you kidding me? It's awesome! I actually was already looking for you to congratulate you. I was looking for you earlier to talk and Spike kinda spilled the beans.” Twilight groaned, she was really going to have to talk to Spike about keeping secrets. “Well, we still have time. What do you need to talk about?” Rainbow Dash face turned red as she shuffled her hooves giving Applejack a glance. “Well it's kinda personal, I was hoping to just talk to you if that's okay?” Applejack just nodded, giving her approval and the two mares shot to the sky. Soon they both settled down on a cloud. Rainbow Dash sighed giving Twilight a trusting stare, “This is going to sound sappy, so please don't laugh.” Twilight smiled, giving her friend a small hug. Rainbow Dash took in a breath, “What could a mare with no magic give a Unicorn as a romantic gift?” Twilight tried to not laugh but Dash looked so adorable, a tiny giggled slipped. Dash’s wings flared. “I said dont laugh!” Twilight fought off her giggles as she spoke, “Sorry Rainbow Dash, it’s just really cute.” Rainbow huffed, crossing her legs across her chest. “As for a gift, believe it or not most Unicorns think handmade gifts are a great way to show affection, since magic makes a lot of things easy. Try to make it something they enjoy, like maybe a handmade dress?” Rainbow Dash’s face dropped “Why would you say dress, when I didn’t say who it was?” Twilight just gave her a knowing look. Rainbow threw her legs in the air. “Fine! It's easy to guess, please don't tell anypony! Only Fluttershy and I guess you know, okay?” T Twilightdid the signature Pinkie Pie promise and said her goodbyes. Twilight landed beside Applejack, wrapping her wing around her. Applejack smiled, “Do Ah even want to know what you two talked about?”  Twilight smiled pulling a much smaller feather from her wing and placed it in her love’s ear. “Come on Jackie, Sugar Cube Corner is next. I will tell you once Rainbow Dash is ready; she made me Pinkie promise. You of all ponies know not to break a Pinkie promise.” Applejack said nothing, giving the princess another kiss. Sugar Cube Corner was busy as usual as Twilight and Applejack entered. Mrs. Cake greeted them and asked if they were here for food. They both shook their heads and asked where they could find Pinkie Pie. Mrs. Cake told them she was in the kitchen but not before saying they made a cute couple. It was just like Twilight predicted. The whole town would probably know by the end of the day. It also didn’t help they weren't really trying to hide it either. Opening the door to the kitchen, Applejack was tackled to the ground one more this time by a pink ball of fluff. “Oh my gosh, why didn’t you guys tell me you were dating? That is so super fantastic amazing sauce! Oh, I can't WAIT to throw you guys a dating party! Orange and purple streamers everywhere!” Pinkie Pie threw her hooves in the air as orange and purple pieces of confetti exploded out of nowhere. Applejack couldn't help but laugh. “Ah guess the word is getting around. Can Ah also assume you're okay with two mares dating?”   Pinkie Pie smiled hugely,  helping Applejack off the floor, as soon as the farmer was standing she darted over to the Princess, pulling her into a hug. “Why would it matter if two of my bestest friends became a couple, this is AWESOME! Besides, AJ, I don't like mares nor stallions so how would I have room to talk?” Twilight and Applejack glanced at each other before one spoke. Twilight smiled, “Well it's great you’re on board Pinkie, but do you mean you're not into ponies at all?” Pinkie Pie only nodded as she hopped back to her baking. Twilight’s curiosity got the best of her as she spoke, “So what are you into griffons, yaks, or (and please say no) Discord?” Pinkie Pie fell to the ground laughing, “Wow, Twilight, you can be real silly, its none of those. Also Discord’s a big meanie. Don't you two have an important dinner to get to though?” Twilight didn’t even bother to ask how she knew about their dinner plans and chalked it up as a Pinkie thing. So they both said their goodbyes and left. Once the two were alone Applejack spoke, “Ah guess that's a load off our chest. Ah’m just glad Ah don't have to hide how much Ah love ya.” Twilight completely stopped, giving Applejack a sly smirk. Applejack stared in confusion as Twilight leaned in. Then it hit her as her eyes widened, “Ah mean happy they're okay with me lov.. Ah mean lik-” her embarrassed rambling was cut short as Twilight claimed her lips. “I love you too, my silly little farmer.” “ > Family, Royalty and Portals. > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Family, Royalty and Portals. Magic tests, fights with Gods, having to change time itself were all easy compared to the peril the poor Princess faced as she sat at the Apple table. Granny Smith sat at the head, never taking her fierce gaze off of her, when she and Applejack had entered the old mare was quick to act as soon as she saw the hat on Twilight’s head. Like a trained machine Granny Smith had whistled, which had to be a signal of some sort. Because Applebloom and Big Mac were quick to act. Now Twilight sat with applebloom between her and Applejack, Big Mac sat across from her his gaze never leaving her own. Speaking of Applejack as soon as Granny Smith whistled she hadn't said a word, which only made Twilight more nervous. So now they all sat in pure silence Twilight could feel the authority the old mare had. Thankfully, she didn’t suffer much longer as Granny Smith spoke. “We have a tradition in this family here, Princess. A little test to see if a suter is the right fit for an Apple. You will have to answer two questions youngun’. If yer answer is good, Ah will give you my blessin’.” Twilight didn’t speak, afraid of what her words would do. Granny’s look turned cold, “If Applejack was hanging from a cliff and your mother was also hanging. Who would you chose to save? There is only time to possibly save one. So choose” Twilight had to sit back as the question ran through her mind. That had to be the worst scenario she could ever face, how could she possibly choose neither path was fair. Twilight had the answer, well her answer and gulped. Meeting with Granny Smiths eye she spoke “I wouldn't choose either, I would sacrifice everything to save both.” Granny’s face never changed instead she gave Big Mac a look. Seeing what to be another sign the massive stallion spoke “Why?” Twilight meet his gaze and smiled “That's simple, if I saved my mother I would lose the love of my life and my mother would never forgive me. If I saved Applejack, I could never look my father or brother in the face again.” Twilight took in a breath, calming herself. “Worst of all, I would never be able to forgive myself if either happened. So I would give up everything even my own life to save both.” Granny still didn’t speak, instead she nodded to Applebloom, who quickly moved over to Big Mac’s side, allowing Applejack to slide next to her. Applejack still said nothing but did place a small kiss on her cheek. Granny Smith spoke once more “Second question, and this one is way harder than the first.” Twilight steadied herself ready for anything. Granny Smith smiled “Do you want seconds, mind you, Ah only give seconds to members of the family.” Twilight couldn't hold back her tears as the rest of the Apple’s smiled welcoming her into the family. The day had been long and very eventful, so Applejack suggested they stay there. Now both mares laid in Applejack’s bed, staring at each other. The lamp next to them was light so the two could see one another. Twilight smiled squeezing Applejack, “I’m so happy your family accepted me. I won't lie, your Granny had me more nervous than my magic entrance exams.” Applejack chuckled while she stroked Twilight’s mane, “Yea she can have that effect. After yer horn heals, we’ll go visit your family.” Twilight said nothing placing a small nip into the nape of Applejack neck, which caused the farmer to stiffen. Twilight pulled back to see Applejack’s blushing and troubled face. “What's wrong, Jackie?” Applejack only shook her head as she turned away.  Twilight wasn't having any of that rolling over her love to were the eyes meet. “Come on Jackie you're acting like I did when I wanted to ask you out. What's up? You know you can talk to me.” Applejack tried to turn away but Twilight’s new position made it difficult seeing there was no escape she spoke. “Ah don' wanna ruin it.” Twilight did not budge, keeping her gaze on her love. Applejack’s face grew even hotter as she spoke, “It's just that we have been together for a few weeks. An things between us tends to get a little heated.” Twilight’s brow raised as Applejack started to stutter, “Ah… Ah just wanted you ta know Ah’m really happy to be with you and am willing to share things with you. That Ah never shared with anypony else. Whenever you're ready of course.” Twilight only blinked as her face heated up as well. Smiling she leaned down placing a kiss on her farmer’s lips. Applejack returned the kiss. Twilight reached over and grabbed the chain on the lamp pulling away she smiled. “You really are a silly farmer.” Click. The final day had passed and Twilight’s horn was fully healed. Both her and Applejack went to get the okay from the doctor who said she could use magic fully once more.  So with a clean bill of health, their planned trip to Canterlot was almost ready. Applejack had just made her way back to the castle her saddle bags packed. She had a new skip in her step, the last week had been truly amazing her and Twilight were completely open to the town and nopony had anything negative to say. And now she was going to meet Twi’s parents. She had been so lost in thought she nearly ran into her brother who just exited the castle. “Big Mac, what are you doing here?”  Big Mac only smiled as he pulled a wagon covered by a tarp. Applejack went to question further, but stopped as a flash of purple appeared beside her. Twilight was quick on the draw placing her hoof over Big Mac’s mouth. “He is helping me with something and it's a surprise you will get to see once we get back. So no peeking Jackie.” Applejack had to laugh, Twilight had been doing something top secret for the past couple of days and would not let her see. Twilight would only write in her journal about it which she still hadn't showed Applejack the contents. Big Mac only shook his head as he left the two mares to themselves. Applejack smiled giving her love a quick nuzzle, “Fine Ah won't ask, but are you sure about us teleportin’ there? We could just take the train.” Twilight rolled her eyes as she checked her saddle bags. “For the last time honeycrisp, this magic is second nature to me I won't overdo it.” Twilight smiled giving AJ a quick peck “It's sweet you care though. Now come on my parents and brother are waiting for us.” Applejack blushed at her new nickname Twilight had given her, she had no problem with it but made Twilight promise only to use it when they were alone. In return she would only call Twilight her little princess when they were alone as well.   Twilight draped her wing over Applejack and pulled her close, “Okay, this will take us to right in front of their house. A quick suggestion, hold your breath and close your eyes.” Applejack did what she was told and soon felt her stomach churn as the world around her seemed to shift, she had never felt anything like that. She refused to open her eyes, until a soft pair of lips pressed against her own. She opened her eyes to see Twilight smile at her before pointing at the house in front of them. Applejack took a moment to take in her surroundings sure enough they now sat in the center of Canterlot. Twilight’s magic would never cease to amaze her. It was something she could probably never grasp. Her thoughts were pulled as a familiar voice spoke “Twily, how is my sister doing?” Applejack smiled as Shining Armor pulled Twilight into a hug, her smile didn’t stay as his gaze turned harsh when their eyes met. Letting Twilight go his eyes turned happy once more.  “Why don't you go see if you can help mom. I would love to talk to Applejack for a few minutes.” Twilight only rolled her eyes she knew where this was going whispering in her brother's ear she gave Applejack a wink before heading inside. As soon as the door clicked shut, Shining Armor stepped up staring AJ down. “So just so you know. I read all the letters Twily sends to Cadence.” As he spoke Shining Armor started to circle the farmer who for her part did not waver “And I hear you are courting her? Well, what would you say if I don't allow it?” Applejack’s confusion instantly turned to anger as her eyes narrowed “Ah would say that even thought that you were once Captain of the Royal guard an’ Twilight’s brother. Don't think Ah won't buck you into next week for trying to step between us.” Shining Armor stopped pacing meeting Applejack’s heated gaze he leaned in close enough that AJ could feel his breath. Applejack stood tall waiting for the prince to take a swing. Instead, Shining Armor smiled pulling Applejack into a hug, “I think it's great Twilley found a strong mare like you to date. I probably don't have to tell you that if she gets hurt there will be Hell to pay. I think you know who her sister in law is.” Applejack relaxed as Shining Armor laughed, leading her inside. Lunch went rather well as did meeting Twilight’s parents. Velvet Sparkle did nothing but gush about how cute they were and ask when the wedding was. Night Light also welcomed Applejack with open arms even though he seemed bent on embarrassing Twilight with filly photos and stories about her first attempt at magic. Soon Twilight noticed the time and smiled, “Well, I’m glad you are all okay with my choice in marefriends.” Velvet laughed, “I’m just glad you didn’t bring home a book. I sometimes worried you would try to marry one.” Twilight blushed while sticking her tongue out at her mom. Applejack was very surprised how smooth it went she was afraid there might be more tests after the Shining Armor thing. Twilight spoke once more, “As much as I would love to stay, the Princesses are expecting us.” Applejack felt her nerves return as they said their goodbyes. For some reason all three princesses wanted to see them together and that made her more terrified than meeting Twilight’s parents. Twilight's warm wing draped over her calming her a little. With one last goodbye the two mares flashed away in a purple light. Applejack held her gut as it turned once more, giving Twilight a slightly annoyed gaze. Twilight smiled, giving her a small kiss. Applejack smiled taking in the door in front of her. She had seen this door many times heck she been in the throne room more times than most ponies. Today though the door looked terrifying as it towered over her. Giving Twilight a pleading look she spoke “Can you please tell me why all three had to see us at once, Twi?” Twilight laughed, draping her wing once more around the farmer, “I’m sure it's nothing bad, according to Cadence. Shiny had to do the same thing when they started dating. I’m sure it's just a formality.” Twilight’s words did not really help in calming the poor farmer but it did help a little bit.. She gulped as the entered the room. The first thing AJ noticed was all three princesse were wearing their formal gowns. Twilight was also confused at the great display of royalty. Celestia stood, walking toward the pair. the other princesses followed closely behind. Celestia’s voice boomed as she spoke, her gaze never leaving Applejack’s, “Good evening Princess Twilight and Lady Applejack. It has come to this court's attention that a member of royalty and an Element of Harmony have started courting one another. Is this true?” Even though Applejack’s nerves grew, she stood her ground as she nodded. Celestia’s poster did not slack as she kept approaching the mares. Luna and Cadence said nothing as they followed suite. Soon Celestia stood directly in front of the pair. Her gaze seemed to pierce Applejack to the very core, “As it is tradition, you will be tested Applejack, just like Shining armor. We can not just let anypony date royalty.” Twilight’s gaze hardened as she turned to her sister-in-law for answers, but Cadence said nothing, only keeping her gaze on Applejack. Celestia’s voice still echoed, “This will be the hardest test you have ever faced. My sister will push your mind to the brink making you experience your greatest fear.”   Celestia’s horn glowed as Twilight became encased in a clear bubble slowly drifting from the ground. Twilight trashed against the bubble to no avail, the bubble seemed to silence her as well. Applejack went to help but was stopped by Celestia’s voice. “She is fine and unharmed, she will just be a distraction. As I was saying, Luna will test your mind, trying to break it.” Applejack had to fight to pull her gaze away from Twilight meeting Celestia's once more. If the Princess of the Sun was impressed, she didn’t show it. “Then Cadence will test your heart, making you suffer the greatest heart break you have felt over and ever again.” Applejack did not back down as Celestia leaned forward, meeting her gaze just inches away from her face. “Last I will test your body, I will push your body in ways you never imagined. Making you feel the heat of the sun itself. If you fail any of these test your union will not be allowed.” Twilight finally gave up her struggle, sitting back on her haunches, tears falling. She never thought Celestia would separate her from Applejack. “Now, Applejack, do you accept these trials or will Twilight seek another lover?” Applejack was in shock, this had to be some sick joke. Looking at Twilight, her shock turned to anger, seeing her love’s tears. Soon any doubt washed away as she pressed her head against Celestia’s gritting her teeth. “Now you listen here. Ah would do anythin’ for ‘Twi. Even if Ah have to fight yer whole army. Ah would. But let me tell you somethin’, Celestia!”   For the first time both Luna and Cadence showed emotion as their eyes widened. Celestia, however, did not budge. Applejack continued, “Even if Ah failed yer stupid test, you would never keep me and ‘Twi separate. Ah don't care how powerful you are! Ah would climb to the pits of Tartarus to be with her. So give me yer stupid test!” Celestia finally pulled away, glancing at the other two Princesses. Turning back to the farmer, she spoke, “Then Lady Applejack, let me give you some advise before we begin.” Applejack did not budge, she would win. Celestia smiled as her horn flashed, making the bubble around Twilight disappear. Leaning in, she whispered, “I am a very renown prankster.” Twilight wasted no time putting herself between them while Applejack sat in shock. Twilight's horn glowed and wings flared ready to protect her love, only to have her jaw dropped as the three Princesses started to laugh. Not hearing Celestia's whisper ,Twilight turned to see Applejack sitting in a state of shock. Twilight turned still ready to fight and shouted, “What the hay is so funny, you threatened my lover! ” Cadence was the first to act, pulling Twilight into a hug, “Oh Twilight, they did the same prank to Shiny. The prank is the test, trust me, I was just as angry when they did it to us.” Twilight’s jaw dropped as she looked at her marefriend for answers. Applejack wasn't faring any better, still frozen in shock. Celestia finally gathered herself enough to speak, “Though I must commend you Applejack, Shining Armor didn’t even get in my face like you did. For a moment I thought you might strike me.” Applejack shivered, realizing that she did come close to striking royalty, she probably shouldn't have gotten as mad as she did. Celestia smiled, placing her wing over them both, “First, let me apologise, I just wanted to test how much you cared for her. I think standing up to me is definitely a good sign.” Applejack finally spoke ,“Ah’m sorry Princess, Ah just don't take threats very well, especially when it comes to ‘Twi.” Celestia smiled, giving both AJ and Twilight a quick nuzzle. “Now, enough games, I do believe there is a delicious meal waiting for us. You too can fill us in at the table.” Twilight and Applejack both happily agreed. Dinner went off without a hitch and it was quite enjoyable. Well, perhaps except for Prince Blueblood, but he got a buck in the flank from Applejack, so nothing bad happened. They laughed, told stories, and just enjoyed each other's company. Applejack got even more ammunition on Twilight when Cadence and Celestia shared filly stories with her. Dinner ended and they went to say their goodbyes, Luna, however, asked for an audience with Applejack alone. Twilight was okay with it and spent more time with her sister-in-law and mentor. Applejack sighed as they walked out on the balcony, turning to Luna she spoke, “Lemme guess, you want to talk about the dreams Ah’ve been having?” Luna only nodded her head, allowing the farmer to speak. “Ah think they're perfectly normal fears. Ah jus’ don' want her to suffer fur an eternity.” Luna spoke, her voice calm as the night, “We do not fault the for those fears. They are fears made from love.” Draping her wing over AJ, she smiled, “We only want to offer advice, we have been around for a long time and have loved many.” Applejack ears dropped as she listened to Luna’s words, “Even though they all passed, we never regretted loving them. Twilight will feel the same, do not let something as silly as time stop true love.” Applejack smiled, giving Luna a small hug, “Ah know you're right. Ah already planned on talking to her about this anyways. Thanks.”   Luna said nothing but motioned for them to leave. Twilight smiled, seeing Applejack’s return. Applejack stayed quiet as Twilight said her goodbyes. She still didn’t speak as Twilight draped her wing over her once more. In a flash, they both disappeared. Applejack steadied herself as they touched ground, it was going to take a while for her to get used to that. It took her just a second to realize she was in Twilight’s room the only problem was there was no Twilight. Before her search even began, she heard her name called from below. She couldn't help but smile, she guessed it was time to see her surprise. She rolled her eyes as an all too familiar sight came into view. Twilight stood smiling in a mess of charts and scrolls all filled with things explaining what she wanted to say. Applejack chuckled, stepping over the mess to reach her smiling marefriend. Before Twilight could  go into a giant rant about science she was pulled into a deep kiss. Applejack pulled away, smiling. “Princess we had this conversation, you don't have to give a scientific reason just ask what's on your mind.” Twilight blushed a small flash of her horn and the charts and scrolls disappeared. Applejack giggled, placing a small kiss on Twilight’s cheek. Twilight spoke, “Sorry honeycrisp, I’ve just been thinking about this for a while now. I guess I just got nervous.” Applejack said nothing, pulling Twilight into a tight embrace. “We’ve lived together for a whole month and been together for most of the time. I know we talked about you moving in and the only problem was the distance your farm was from the castle.” Applejack said nothing; she knew Twilight would get to her point soon. “These past few days, I’ve been working on a solution, and found one, if you even want to live with me that is.” Feeling Twilight tense, Applejack giggled. “Is this your fancy way of asking me to live with ya?” Twilight did not relax; she had been so nervous about this.   “To tell ya the truth ‘Twi, Ah had been thinkin’ the same thang. Ah love you, Princess. Me and the family were thinking of hiring some help to make up the time we’d lose from me taking longer to get there. Once we got our finances fixed, Ah was going to talk to ya.” The farmer had no time to react as Twilight tackled her to the ground, bringing her into a kiss. After a few minutes of kissing, Twilight pulled back, a huge smile on her face. “This is perfect! You really need to come see your surprise.” Applejack smiled as Twilight helped her up, pulling her toward her lab. “Spike, is everything set up?” Applejack had to catch her breath as they entered the lab. She smiled, looking at the mess that was strone about. Spike spoke, breaking her thoughts, “Yep, ready and tested. It works great, Twilight.” Applejack finally noticed the mirror that the dragon was standing next to. Before she could ask, Twilight grabbed her hoof and pulled her toward it. “‘Twi, isn't that the mirror to the world where we are different?” Twilight only shook her head, making her horn glow, which turned the mirror on. Twilight smiled before yelling, “Big Mac are you ready?” Applejack was about to tell Twilight her brother was not here only to gasp as her brother stepped through the mirror. Applejack could only stare as her sister stepped through as well. Applebloom was jumping up and down. “Isn't it great, big sis’?”. Twilight made this portal connect to the one in the barn so you can come straight to the farm.” Twilight nervously giggled, waiting for AJ’s reaction.Twilight spoke, trying to explain while Applejack tried to take it all in. “You see, only we can activate it. So we don't have to worry about somebody coming through unannounced. I really wanted to live with you and I ho-” Big mac was first to react covering Applebloom’s eyes as AJ tackled the princess to the ground their lips smashing together. Applejack pulled back a giant smile plastered on her face. “Of course Ah will live with you! Mah silly little princess!” No words were spoken as Twilight pulled Applejack into another kiss. Big Mac only smiled as him and his sis’ left the two lovebirds alone. > Gifts, Doubts and Life Choices > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gifts, Doubts and Life Choices Two months had passed, since Twilight and Applejack moved in together. Many ponies would say their love had to be contagious, so many others had started to show their love. Rainbow Dash and Rarity stopped beating around the bush and got together as well. Everypony knew the two were meant to be, even Spike saw it coming. Though it seemed the little dragon had something keeping his mind off the loss of his crush. He would often be seen heading toward Sugar Cube corner with a huge smile on his face. Rarity and Dash’s love wasn't the only one that blossomed. Big Mac and Zecora had made their relationship public. They were an odd couple but somehow perfect for each other. One of the biggests shocks was Fluttershy’s new relationship with Bulk Biceps. It seems they both kinda fell for one another at the equestrian trails. Of course both were too shy to mention it. It did help that a certain pink party pony found them kissing. Now, one of the two mares responsible for this love explosion sat at Rarity’s table. Applejack kept fiddling with her hooves as she glanced between Rarity and Rainbow dash. Rarity tried to be patient giving the farmer time to say her piece, but it had been several minutes and Rainbow Dash kept dozing off. “Applejack darling, it's hard for me to help you, If you don't tell me what's bothering you.” Rainbow shot up. “Did I miss something?” said Rainbow. Once she noticed Applejack was still being silent, she huffed throwing her hooves in the air. “Oh come on. Your Applejack for pete's sake, so stop being a chicken and tell us what's up!” Rainbow was sure that would get a rile out of her friend, but Applejack just sighed. Rainbow Dash was right though, she wouldn't get anywhere just sitting there. Reluctantly the farmer pulled two boxes from her saddlebags “Ah just want yer opinion on these, and please don't freak out.” Rarity said nothing. Not wanting to scare off her friend, it took all of her willpower not to squeal when Applejack pulled out a golden necklace. The necklace was magnificent, the chain was very well done. Each link had a tiny set of stars etched in them. What really drew the eyes though, was the giant apple shaped purple ruby that hung at its center. Applejack held it out. Rarity carefully grasped the chain for a closer look. She couldn't help but gasp, noticing a perfect replica of Twilight’s cutie mark in the ruby. Rarity could barely find words as she spoke. “My word Applejack, this is simply gorgeous, it must've cost a fortune. Why on earth are you worried, any mare would fall head over heals for this.” Applejack said nothing, pushing the other box forward. Rarity smiled letting Rainbow Dash take the chain to get a good look. She had to force herself not to faint when she saw the contents. Inside sat a pair of beautiful earrings. Each ring had three apples the same color of Applejack’s cutie mark. Giving them a closer look, Rarity almost cried seeing each apple had a word inscribed. Honesty, Magic, Love were in the center of each other apple. Tears did fall when she read the words once more. “Applejack, does this mean what I think it does?” Applejack gulped. “This is what ah wanted yer opinion on. Do you think ah’m rushing into this? It’s just that ah love Twi with all my heart. Ah can't think of a time ah’ve been this happy.”  Rarity had to wipe the tears from her eyes hearing Applejack’s words. Rainbow Dash sat there slack jawed. She never thought Aj would be so romantic. Pulling herself together Rarity spoke, “In a normal relationship I would. It's too soon. Most need time to get to know each other. You two already know everything about each other, and you have lived together for three months. So no, I don't think it's too soon.” Applejack relaxed putting the packages back in her bags. “Do you reckon they’re good enough, Ah really want them to show how much Ah love her?” Rarity went to speak but Rainbow beat her to it. “Seriously Aj? They're amazing! I bet thanks to you Rarity will be hinting at that necklace for a whole year!” Rarity blushed, as she playfully smacked Rainbow in the back of the head. Rubbing her head Rainbow pouted, “Hey, I’ve been good.” Rarity shook her head before placing a small kiss on Rainbow Dash’s head. Rarity turned to Applejack “Rainbow is correct though, they’re perfect Applejack. So when and how are you planning on asking?  Applejack smiled pulling out her very own journal and opened it to her plans. Rarity laughed, “I see, living with Twilight has rubbed some of her habits on to you.” Applejack only smiled. Twilight smiled as she finished shelving the last of her books. Her smile grew as she bit into a fresh apple. One of the perks of being marefriends with an apple farmer was the constant supply of fresh apples. She had also become almost addicted to them, and couldn't help but agree that apple's made everything better. Her attention was grabbed by the all too familiar sound of the mirror turning on . Twilight smiled approaching it to welcome her love, only to see no Applejack. Instead a tiny note flew through the portal landing in front of her. Twilight’s curiosity got the best of her as she went to read the note. Dear Silly little princess, I have planned a little game. I trust you can handle it being as smart and beautiful as you are. So follow my clues and find your reward. Twilight blushed and started to grow excited. She loved scavenger hunts. Calming down she read the first clue. Many times we went here to heal. Though in the beginning we were all scared. Thankfully, a natural joke lead us to making a new friend. Twilight had to take a moment reading the note once more. Where did any of them go to heal? Plus they were scared? Twilight gasped as the pieces fell together. She could only think of one pony that could heal, and the first thing she helped with was a certain poison joke. Twilight wasted no time as she disappeared in a flash. Once in front of Zecora’s hut, Twilight was greeted by her friend who was holding Applejack’s hairband. She thanked the zebra before pulling the next note out of the band. Se was getting really excited as she went to read. Well you made it this far, of course I knew you would. With a beautiful mind like yours it's hard to challenge it. The next one might be a bit harder though.   Twilight blushed but kept reading. We have all used this many times. The line is straight and can only be taken two ways. Also it only can be used at certain times.  Ps. You should wear the hairband you know how much I like seeing you wear it. Twilight's blush did not fade, but doing what she was told, she tied her hair up. Reading over the note once more she smiled. What was in a straight line and could only be used at certain times? Twilight gasped as the answer came to her, and just like before she was gone in a flash. The whistle at the train station blew as Twilight appeared.  To her surprise, Rarity was waiting there for her. She also had a beautiful dress waiting beside her. Walking up to her friend she smiled, “Rarity, do you know what's going on? What’s Applejack planning?” Rarity smiled giving Twilight the dress and a note. Without a word, she left. Twilight didn’t stop her quickly opening the note. I knew you would get this one my little princess. Only a few more to go, so go ahead and put on the dress. Twilight did as the note said, and put the dress on taking just a few minutes to admire its beauty. Soon, her thoughts were drawn back to the note. A place where many animals meet, a certain date was the key. One friend grew jealous and held a race, but only one pony attended. This one was far more difficult than the rest. A place where animals meet but only on a certain date?’ And who had a race by themself? This one was definitely a problem. Looking to the sky she sighed, and then it hit her. Rainbow Dash had a race to see who could be her pet, and she was the only pony racing! It must be where they had the pet play dates. Once more Twilight appeared at a new location, this time greeted by Rainbow Dash.  Who only handed her a beautiful present before blasting off into the sky. Twilight opened the package and had tears streaming down her cheeks. In the center of the box sat the necklace Applejack had showed Rarity earlier that day. She couldn't help but cry as she inspected the masterpiece. Placing it around her neck, she picked up the envelope that sat in the box. I spent weeks looking for something as beautiful as you, but nothing could compare. So I settled for this I hope you like it. There is only one riddle left. Twilight could only clasp the necklace as she read on. This spot has held nothing but love and great memories. Many nights have been shared looking toward the night sky holding the one I truly love. I hope my princess comes to star gaze once more. Twilight didn’t even have to think she knew the location by heart, and in a flash she disappeared.   Twilight did all she could to not break down in tears at the sight before her. Applejack stood waiting. A table had been set up with a candle lite dinner. The farmer herself was completely dressed up as well, looking beautiful as ever. The tree itself had many lanterns hanging from its branches, causing the whole hill to be lite. Twilight could only cry as Applejack offered her hoof. She gasped in surprise as soft music started to play. She smiled seeing Pinkie Pie hiding off in the bushes playing a violin. Her loves voice pulled her attention. “May ah have this dance,” Twilight only nodded not able to find the words she wanted to say.  Applejack smiled, pulling her in close and wrapped her hooves around her. They danced for what seemed like hours, Twilight could only lean against Aj, letting the farmer have full control. Applejack couldn't be happier as she held her love. Soon, the music died down and she pulled away meeting Twilight’s gaze. “Twilight Sparkle, these past few months have been the happiest in mah life.  You have opened my mind and heart in more ways than ah could ever imagine.” Twilight's tears came back in full force, as Applejack kissed her hoof, and slid to one knee. “Ah have had many doubts. There were times ah thought ah wasn't good enough for you.” Twilight only shook her head causing Applejack to smile, “Then you saved me from mah fears by loving me. Soon, ah grew afraid you would get hurt when ah passed away.” Twilight said nothing letting her speak. “But then Ah realized even if Ah grow old, while you stay young. Ah will still love you with all my heart until my dying breath. So, Princess Twilight Sparkle, will you do this silly farmer the honor of being my wife?” Twilight gasped as Applejack revealed the pair of earrings. She grasped them slowly, as if afraid she would wake up and this would all be a dream. Feeling they were real, she placed them on the ground before pouncing on Applejack, taking her to the ground. Kissing the farmer she pulled away, “Of course I’ll marry you my honeycrisp. Let me tell you something Ms I’m going to pass away. Our love will beat even the passage of time. I will make sure of that.” It was Applejack’s turn to cry as she kissed her love once more. She couldn't believe she said yes! “Well, ah don't know about you, but Granny made us one heck of a meal. You hungry sugarcube?” Twilight could only laugh as she kissed the farmer. No, not the farmer, her farmer. The rest of the night was magical, both mares laughed and cried. They both truly enjoyed each other's company. Soon both of them sat against the very tree that was there since it started. Twilight noticed a tiny wrapped box slightly hidden and gave Applejack a curious look. Applejack noticing what she was looking at and sighed, grabbing the box. “Ah didn’t know if you would want this. It belonged to mah ma.” Applejack felt tears reform as she opened the box to reveal a beautiful silver hoof band. Twilight smiled, taking the band and placing it on her hoof. Applejack let out a sob seeing it on her love’s arm. “Ah’m sorry Twi, seeing that band brings up some old memories. Ya know, it's funny. One of my biggest regrets is mah parents not being able to see me get hitched.” Twilight smiled kissing away her lover's tears. Her horn glowed as a very familiar journal appeared. Quickly, she jotted down some notes before making it disappear. Applejack laughed, “Ya know when we're married you have to let me read that right?” Twilight smiled pulling her love into one last kiss. > Two Gifts made For Love > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Two Gifts of Pure Love One month had passed since that beautiful night. Every pony had approved when they heard the news. The Apple’s threw a great hoedown welcoming the new member of family. The Sparkles didnt go that far but had a great dinner in celebration. Celestia herself fell to tears hearing the news, Luna might have cried as well if her sister hadn't grabbed her in a death like vice crying into the poor alicorns shoulder. With so many happy smiles welcoming their union, it made their love feel even more special. Applejack at the moment was not smiling, as Rarity messed with her eye liner for the thousandth time. “Consarn it Rarity, will you stop. The weddin still hours away!” Huffing the fashionista pulled away, so she could give Applejack a death glare. Hanging her head Rarity sighed, “Fine darling, but don't blame me. It's your future wife's fault. I swear who in their right mind plans two meetings on the wedding day. “ Before Aj could respond a powder puff smacked her in the face once more. Coughing the farmer had enough and left her chair “Ah know this upsets you, it’s like the hundredth time you've complained about it. Heck Rares, it's my wedding and you're more stressed than me.” Glancing at the clock Applejack shook her head. “Listen Ah’ve gotta go, me and the family are supposed to meet Twi, in five minutes.” Rarity only humphed until Applejack was out of sight. When the farmer was long gone her pout turned into a small smile. It was time for her and the girls to get the second surprise ready. Applejack never was one to question Twilight's plans. Heading to the castle’s garden she couldn't help but think Twilight might be pushing the time table. Twilight did tell her earlier it wouldn't take long and that it was one of the two wedding gifts she had planned to give her. Still there was only six hours until the wedding, entering the garden Applejack’s worries went on the back burner. Her family was already there, sitting side by side near a very strange circle on the ground. Applejack knew enough from the times Twilight taught her about magic that the circle was a spell of some sort. She wasn't able to question it further as her attention was drawn to her future wife smiling back at her. Twilight sat at the front of the circle, Celestia and Luna sat at each side of her. Twilight smiled beckoning Applejack to sit beside her. Not wanting to draw whatever this was out she complied sitting down beside her. Twilight then turned to face the circle taking Applejack’s hoof in her own “With the permission of Celestia and Luna, I princess Twilight Sparkle summon the demon Tirek to stand before us.” Applejack had no time to react as the circle flashed red oping a portal. Soon Tirek emerged from the portal covered in chains. Discord appeared right behind him whistling while playing with the chains. Twilight spoke before anypony could freak out “Tirek, I believe Discord has given you my terms. If you do this I will remove two thousand years from your sentance. Do you agree?” Applejack’s hair stood on its end ready to act, Tirek nodded while raising his cuffed hands. Before Applejack could protest Discord snapped his fingers making the chains disappear. She turned to question Twilight, only to be stop by a small kiss.   Tirek groaned popping his wrists before extending one arm out to Twilight. Applejack had enough she went to step in front of Twilight only to be caught in the same bubble that Celestia used before. Her protest could not be heard as Twilight’s horn glowed, a ball of pure magic shot from its tip straight into the demon's hand. Tirek smiled absorbing the magic, extending his other arm the garden was filled by his booming voice. “I Tirek, second son of the demon king. Invoke a special rule; that these two spirits have access to the land of the living. Be it only a short time.” Applejack and her family sat in awe as a portal of pure white light appeared from the demon's hand.  The bubble surrounding the farmer disappeared allowing her to move, but she couldn't even budge as tears fell. Two ponies stepped through the blinding light causing every member in the Apple family to gasp. Granny Smith was the first to speak, though it only came out as a whisper “Magnum and Sunkiss?” Applebloom was the first to move darting forward in a flash she  jumped into the mare’s legs. The orange mare let out a sob pulling Applebloom close to her chest “It so good to see you, my little flower.” The red stallion beside them also cried pulling them both into a strong embrace. Applejack could not believe her tear soaked eyes, directly in front of her now stood her dead parents. Twilight pulled the farmer into a hug  “It isn't permanent, There is no way to bring back the dead, but they will be able to see your wedding like you wished.” Applejack still couldn't speak burying her face into her lover's chest. What could she say? Soon a gruff voice she hadn't heard in years spoke from behind her, “So you're the mare strong enough to reign in my little Applejack?” Applejack froze hearing her father's voice. Twilight smiled and let Applejack go before meeting the stallions gaze. “Magnum Apple, even though it's a little late to ask. May I marry your daughter?”  Applejack still couldn't move she never thought she would have the chance to do this. A chance to see her Pa give her lover his blessing. Magnum stood tall his gaze held raw strength as he looked at the two mares. Even though he towered over the princess Twilight never wavered meeting the gaze head on. Soon Applejack epped as Magnum pulled her and Twilight into a hug “Ah’d be a darn fool to not let my daughter marry someone who would allow me and my wife to see her get hitched.” Letting them go Magnum smiled. Twilight smiled back, Applejack on the other hand still sat motionless. Applejack tensed as a soft hoof ran through her mane. She turned to see her mother smiling back at her. It was the last straw as all of Applejack’s will power broke, she wailed wrapping herself up in her mom's awaiting arms. “Ma, Pa, Ah’ve missed you so much!” Twilight smiled her own tears falling as the Apple’s reunited with their family. Celestia drew her attention “You did an amazing thing here today. I know you Twilight, don't fret even though you shortened his sentence Tirek has many years left.” Twilight nodded her head “I do believe you have another surprise to get to though.” Twilight smiled as her mentor left to go to the next meeting spot. Walking up to Applejack she spoke “Jackie, can I have a moment.” Applejack pulled herself from watching her brother and father wrestle like old times, to give Twilight her full attention. “Listen they'll be here until about an hour after the wedding. So you have time to talk I need to go get your next gift ready it will take an hour to prepare.” Applejack nodded giving Twilight a small kiss. “Good meet me at the throne room in one hour, and bring your family.” With that Twilight left to let the Apple’s have some time to themselves. The last hour had been everything Applejack ever dreamed of. It was truly magical it seemed her parents had been watching them grow ever since they  passed away. Which gave them more time to just enjoy each other. Sadly it had to come to an end as they all left to got to the throne room. Now Applejack happiness was gone as she butted heads with the guards who blocked her path “What in tarnation do you think you're doing?” The guards said nothing as they held their spears blocking the farmer’s entrance. They didnt even budge when Applejack grinded her hoof into the ground preparing to charge, no stupid guards would keep her from Twilight. Thankfully her rampage was cut short as Celestia’s voice echoed from the room. “Ladies and gentlecolts me and the princess’s stand before you as audience.” Applejack tried her best to look around the guards in hope of seeing inside. The guards still did not budge “Beside us stand four heroes of equestria, who have fought and put their very lives on the line to save this land and its ponies.” Applejack smiled as an applause erupted in the throne room, Celestia’s voice still boomed over the cheers “As you all know today is a day of celebration. My student, friend and your princess is to wed one of the heroes of this land. Her name is Applejack” Applejack nearly fell on her butt as the guards stepped aside the moment Celestia spoke her name, letting her through. As she walked ahead she quickly noticed all eyes were on her. Celestia, Luna, Cadence, Twilight and her friends waited at the end of the room. The princess all sat at their thrones and her friends stood on each side. Celestia nodded signaling her to approach speaking “This mare before you has helped so many. Always putting family and friends above all else. So when my faithful student asked me a favor I could not decline.” Applejack’s heated up at Celestia’s praise and soon stood only a few feet away from the throne. Twilight stepped forward and spoke ‘Fair Applejack, the princesses and elements have convened and decided to give you a gift. First you must answer these questions.” Applejack could feel the power and love in Twilight’s voice, she could only nod in response “Do you hero of equestria swear to always put friends and family above all?” Applejack gulped, she knew her answer would be in front of all ponies who bore witness “Ah swear.” Luna was next to step forth “Does tho swear to honor the laws of these lands always?” “Ah swear.” Cadence was next as she step forward “Do you swear to always love all ponies even those who stray from the path of good?” Applejack had to take a moment her entire body started to tremble, every word the princesses spoke felt like magic rolling over her “Ah, swear.” Finally Celestia herself stood her eyes starting to glow, as did the other princesses. Fluttershy, Rarity, Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie’s bodies started to glow as they transformed into their elements.   Celestia’s voice boomed with power causing the very ground to shake as she spoke “Do you Applejack, swear to never misuse this gift and always protect these land and its ponies?” Applejack’s whole body surged with power as she looked between her friends and lover. Celestia’s words hit her to the core as she felt the depth of their meaning. Glancing once to her smiling family she knew her answer “Ah will always serve equestri and never leave this land or Twilight’s side!”   As the words left her mouth her own body began to glow.  She barely had time to gasp as her body became encased in pure magic, the last thing she saw was Twilight’s smile as her world went black. The world around her was a strange site to see as the farmer came to. There was no floor or sky, All around her where windows of her past being played out all around her. Seeing nopony around Applejack shouted to see if  anypony would answer. Soon a soft wing draped over her causing her to jump. Applejack calmed down when she saw Twilight smiling at her. Twilight spoke her voice seemed to be all around them “Honeycrisp give me your hoof.” Applejack knew she could trust her even though she was scared it was still Twilight. Without hesitation she handed over her hoof. Twilight’s horn glowed as the leather leg wraps Applejack had grown use to wearing were removed. The farmer went to pull away but was stopped by Twilight’s gripp. Twilight frowned as she ran her hoof along the scars she had caused. They weren't all that bad it looked like tiny fractures that branched out all around and  lead to the end of Aj’s hoof.  Applejack spoke “Twi Ah told you not to fret over this.” Twilight couldn't help but laugh pressing her head against Applejack’s The farmer humphed “Ah dont see whats so funny Ah’m a might bit confused about everything right now” Twilight’s first response was placing a small kiss on her lips, “Your what's funny Honeycrisp. Here you stand surrounded by magic, your parents have been brought back to see you. Yet still you only worry about me. I am so lucky to have such a wonderful mare in my life”  Applejack couldn't help but blush at the praise. Twilight spoke once more touching the scar “These scars do not bother me as much as they remind me of my past mistakes, they will stay with me for an eternity. The only question is, do you want to be with me for that long?” Applejack pulled back her eyes wide, it was all starting to make since. Twilight smiled noticing Aj had finally put the pieces together, “I know this is a lot to take in, but it's your choice to make.” Applejack sucked in a breath as Twilight continued “You told me your biggest fear was leaving me alone. So I got the princesses and our friends to offer you this gift. Take your time and think about it.” Applejack was at a lost, taking in all that was being offered to her. Glancing around she saw her memories sail by, but the one that stood out the most was her and Twilight sitting under her parents apple tree. It all hit this amazing mare who defied death and now time, chose her a simple farmer to love. Applejack knew her answer putting her head back against Twilight's, her voice came out just a whisper. “”Twi Ah already swore to myself that Ah would love you till the day Ah dye, Ah then swore to myself, Ah would find away back into your arms. So if you willing to put up with me for an eternity, then my answer is yes.” That was all Twilight needed to here as tears fell down her face. Her horn glowed as she pulled Applejack into a kiss. The world around them glowed bright enough to engulf the ponies in a blinding light. Soon both ponies faded away their lips never parting. > The Wedding of Two Souls > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Wedding of Two Souls Every pony were sitting at the edge of their seats. Several were scared, most were just confused. Applejack and their princess had disappeared right before their eyes. Now all that remained, was a very big scorch mark on the ground. Even some of the elements were starting to grow concerned. While trying to act cool, Rainbow Dash whispered into her love’s ear “Did it take this long before?” Before Rarity could answer, Princess Celestia stepped forth expanding her wings. All, but her gasped trying to shield their eyes.  As the room exploded in waves of orange light, for the few that could stand to see through the brightness, could see a very distinct form of an apple. Crafted by the light. As the light filled the room, Celestia's marvelous voice chimed in “Ponies of Equestria, allow me to present to you. For the first time, Princess Applejack!” As the light dimmed, all ponies gasped. In front of Celestia, there were now two alicorns and both seemed to preoccupied by the others mouth, to notice they now had an audience. Applejack’s new wings stood proud, laying on top of Twilight, ravaging her lovers mouth. Celestia blushed, coughing in hopes of drawing their attention. Applejack was the first to react, finally looking up to see her new surroundings. Her face flushed crimson, as her wings started frantically flapping, slightly raising her from the ground. “Oh crap, Ah’m so sorry, Ah didn't know we were ba…. Why are all of you below me?” Twilight getting over her embarrassment couldn't help but laugh. Applejack froze falling back to the ground, she was flying! Tenderly she moved her hoof up to the top of her head, and sure enough her hoof made contact with a new appendage. In her bewildered state she turned to Twilight “Ah’m a princess.” Twilight knelt down beside her, placing a small kiss on her cheek. Celesia spoke once more “As I was saying, everypony let's all welcome our new princess of honesty, Applejack” The new princess was overwhelmed with pride as the crowd all stood, stamping their hooves along the ground. Applejack felt the sting of tears when her eyes landing on her family, all of which were pouring their heart into their applause. Candace stepped forth “I’m sure many of you would like an explanation and there will be one. However I do believe that the first ever marriage between two alicorns, is about to start.” Applejack and Twilight got no respite, as Rarity practically teleported in front of them pulling the still very shocked farmer away. “Princess or not darling, you still need your mane fixed. And thanks to that little make out session, I have to do your makeup again!” “Rarity stop pushing, gosh darnit. A lot just happened to me, don't Ah get a moment to catch my bearings?” Rarity did not let her do anything, pushing her into her dressing room. Applejack had just about enough and was about to put the pushy mare in her place. That was until a pair of soft hooves wrapped around her midsection pulling her into a hug. “Oh my little Jackie, I’m so happy to get to see my little girl getting married. An your a princess as well.” Applejack instantly felt a wave of comfort fill her, leaning into her mother's waiting arms, all thoughts of strangling a certain pony flew out the window. Soon both Rarity and her mother got to work on making Applejack look her best. Rarity smiled admiring her work, once she was satisfied she pulled out the wedding gown she had made just for this day. Applejack would never stop being amazed by her friend’s work. The dress was perfect, the chest was a beautiful orange with tiny gold trimming, probably to match her hair. It all started to blend together the further it went down, and transformed into a very pristine white skirt. It was almost beautiful enough to stop Applejack from noticing the already made wing holes in the back, almost. “How long did you guys know, about Twi’s little gift?” Rarity blushed “Only for about a week darling, Twilight discovered that we all had inner magic in us. We just needed enough magic to push it out. I believe only the elements could ever do this though.’ Applejack smiled, it seems that Twilight had been pouring her heart into making sure they would never part. Soon Applejack was ready, being fully dressed up and completely covered in makeup. Rarity seeing her job was done, excused herself allowing the mother and daughter time alone. Once alone Applejack meet her mother’s gaze. “Mom Ah need to ask you a favor?” Sunkist stiffened ‘This can't be good, you called me mom instead of ma, it must be important.” Applejack fought back her tears, not wanting t mess up her friend's hard work...again. “Please understand, you and Pa probably only have a few hours after the wedding. An ounce Ah get hitched there is going to be a lot of stuff to do.” Steadying her breath she pushed through with no tears “Ah want you and Pa to spend the rest of your time with Applebloom. Me and Big Mac had you two for years, Applebloom barely knows you guys.” Sunkist had no problem bursting into tears, while pulling her daughter into her arms. “Oh Jackie, you were always your father’s daughter. Sacrificing your happiness for others. Yes I will tell  Magnum, but you still have to let him give you the first dance.’ Applejack smiled, grabbing her father’s stetson she gave herself one last look over. “Ah’m gettin married.” Many ponies were in tears, several held on to their love ones.Pinkie Pie had all but choked Spike in the death like grip she had around him. Rainbow Dash had her wing draped around Rarity trying her hardest to look cool, even though her face was covered in tears. Even  poor Fluttershy had to try her hardest to calm Bulk Biceps down, who was getting every pony around him wet as he wailed, while the two princesses said their vows. Twilight also had tears pouring down her face, clutching the mare of her dreams hoof. “Applejack we have been together for years. Never in my wildest dreams did I think such a beautiful and strong mare would love me,” Twilight let out a strangled chuckle, making sure to meet her love's gaze. “Every morning I wake up next to you is the happiest moment of my entire day. When I feel sad or scared I just look into your beautiful emerald eyes and I feel safe, wanted and loved.” Applejack’s battle of wills lost as she started to cry as well. “I know that for all of time you will be there loving me, because you're my silly little farmer.” Applejack felt truly loved as Twilight’s words washed over her. She smiled “Twilight, Ah’ve had a crush on you for as long as Ah can remember. And now Ah stand here with the most amazing mare this world has ever seen. You defied death and time itself to make me happy.” Placing her hoof against Twilight’s cheek Applejack poured her soul out “Everypony here knows how honest Ah am, but believe me Twi. Ah would bend reality and fight death itself to keep you in my arms. No god, demon or even  alicorn could get in my way of being in your life. My silly little princess.” Celestia smiled as with tears in her eyes “Then with the power invested in me, and in front of all these witness. I pronounce you mare and wife. You may kiss the bride.” Applejack wasted no time as she dipped Twilight down, pulling her into a deep kiss. The whole room roared in applause as everypony stood and cheered. Pinkie Pie couldn't help herself pulling Spike into a kiss as well. Even Rarity and Rainbow Dash shared a heartwarming kiss. Twilight smiled into her love’s lips, as her horn glowed launching her bouquet into the air. Fluttershy and Bulk Biceps faces grew a deep pink as the flowers landed in her arms both glanced at each other before Bulk fainted into her arms. Twilight’s horn glowed once more, as the ceiling soon erupted in magic fireworks. Applejack brought her closer their chest barely touching, putting all of her love into their kiss. Many would say there love was so strong it could be felt by all There would be many trials, ahead of them. Many adventures and dangers they would have to face, but with the love they shared nothing would stand in their way. Cause what force could ever stand to the might of a silly little farmer and a silly little princess.
