> The rose of the cave > by Elemental Fury > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Raritwi > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Raritwi Twilight Sparkle, Princess of friendship and former bearer of the element of magic never thought she would end up in the situation she was in in her entire life. She waited on her friend Rarity, a white unicorn seamstress who was currently digging out part of the cave they were in. “I have to say Rarity, despite your cutie mark, I never thought you of all ponies would get your hooves dirty like this.” Twilight said to her friend as Rarity finally got the gem she was after out of the wall. “Oh don’t worry Twilight, most of the time I do so hate getting bedraggled but I need to get my gems somehow. Usually I just find the gems and Spike helps dig them out but of course, he has fallen ill so I had to ask you as all our other friends were unavailable.” Rarity just seemed to be trying to talk at this point, because twilight couldn’t think of any other reason for Rarity repeating a lot of what she already knew. “So why exactly am I here if I’m not getting gems out.” Twilight asked her friend, who then blushed severely. “I, uh, well…it’s embarrassing” said Rarity, who looked away from Twilight. “Oh, it can’t be that bad. Come on, I won’t mind.” Twilight tried to convince Rarity to talk to her. “Well, you see…I, um. Well, it’s just…I wanted someone to talk to.” Rarity said, causing Twilight to smirk. “Oh, is that all? Well, you’re lucky I wasn’t busy today.” Twilight said with a chuckle. “Yeah…” Rarity was quiet as they walked through the cave. Twilight watched Rarity do the process for obtaining gems multiple times and even learned how to get the gems out herself to help her. They talked about many different things from dresses to their friends and even their school days. “So I do have something of an affinity for spaghetti.” Rarity told her friend with a laugh. “I’ll make some the next time you come over.” Twilight said jokingly but Rarity froze upon hearing that. This did not escape the purple unicorns notice. “You okay, rarity?” “Oh, um sure…I mean DEFINITELY darling!” Rarity hadn’t intended for herself to sound so loud, but she had been unable to stop it. “Ooookay then…” Twilight just stared at the unicorn in surprise at her outburst. The lavender Alicorn looked around and saw that they were in a grassy patch of the cave “Well…OH MY GOSH!” “ARGHH, What is it?!” Rarity jumped back in fear and surprise at twilight’s outburst. “It’s an amor resurrexit!” Twilight squealed, her eyes lighting up as she bounced from hoof to hoof as if she was a filly again. “Amor res-what?” Rarity asked, confused as to her friend was getting so excited over. “Amor resurrexit, a pinkish blue flower. The name is Latin and is translated as ‘love rose’ because it only appears when two ponies who are destined to be together are…together…by themselves...” Twilight trailed off as she realised what that meant. “Uh, what else is…unique about the flower.” Rarity asked, acting beyond embarrassed even though inside she was beyond happiness. “Well…one of the ponies needs to have a crush on the…other.” Twilight’s eyes dilated. “R-really?” Rarity asked. “Yes…This is…Amazing!” Rarity’s heart skipped a beat when she heard twilight exclaim that. “This is the first time an Amor resurrexit has ever been wrong.” “ahh.” Rarity whispered, turning her head away so Twilight couldn’t see her entire world being crushed. “I mean, why would you have a crush on me? I am the furthest thing from what you would ever want!” Twilight laughed at what she thought was an extremely ludicrous idea. “What if it wasn’t?” It took a lot of courage but rarity managed to choke the words out. “What do you mean?” Twilight asked, confused. “This.” Was all Rarity said before she took the biggest risk of her life? The seamstress rushed into the Alicorn and pressed her lips against hers. Twilight's eyes widened and she stayed like that. Just as rarity was about to pull away twilight kissed back. They stayed like that until the need for air caught up to the both of them. Rarity pulled back with a smile, the happiest she had ever been in her life. Twilight still looked shocked and yet happy, she almost looked drunk and then she fainted. “Twilight? TWILIGHT?!” Twilight's eyes cracked open. Immediately within her peripheral vision was a window which she could see the sunset from. She looked around the room and saw it was her own bedroom at her castle. The doors cracked open and in walked her personal assistant and little brother Spike. The young drake looked bitter as he walked up to her and took a seat upon a stool she had failed to see on her initial inspection of the room. “Oh good, you’re awake.” He sounded somewhat happy yet also rather annoyed. She could only wonder what she had done. “Your ‘marefriend’ is in the Friendship hall.” “Marefriend?” Twilight asked even more confused than before. “You know who.” Was all Spike said before he put a bottle of medication at her bedside and left. Twilight simply stared at the door as it slammed shut. “What was that all about?” Twilight asked no one in particular. After she had taken the medication and gotten up, she left the room and went to the Friendship hall to find out who spike had been referring to. When she entered the room there sat upon her own chair was Rarity who looked very nervous indeed. Her hoofs were shaking and her eyes were darting about all over the room before they settled upon twilight. It was then that Twilight remembered the occurrences from what Twilight presumed was earlier that evening. “Oh good, You’re finally awake darling. How are you feeling?” Rarity said nervously. Twilight knew she was stalling and decided it would be better to get straight to the point. “Rarity, do you have a crush on me?” Twilight asked simply and Rarity didn’t even need to speak to answer. The fear in her eyes and yet still a glint of hope could be seen if one looked hard. “Do I need to speak the answer? Surely my actions in the cave would suffice.” Was all Rarity said? “No, you don’t need to speak. So how long was I out?” Twilight asked, even though she thought she already knew the answer. “3 days.” Was all Rarity responded with, making Twilights eyes go wide in surprise and disbelief. “3 DAYS?!” Twilight yelled in surprise, before covering her mouth with her hoof. “Yes, 3 days. Being in this castle for three days with a grouchy spike wasn’t the most pleasant of experiences but I couldn’t just leave.” Twilight couldn’t believe how casually Rarity had treated waiting in the castle for three days. “You were here the whole time?” Twilight asked in surprise. “Why of course…” Rarity trailed off then asked the question she had been dreading since Twilight entered the room. “Twilight, are we still friends?” For both mares, it was if time froze in that instant. Rarity said one last thing. “What’s your answer?” She feared the answer she was certain was coming, turning away and subsequently missing the sudden mischievous grin on the alicorns face “This” was all twilight said before pressing her lips against Rarity’s, taken the seamstress by surprise. When she composed herself, rarity kissed back and again they stayed like that until they needed air. “Oh my…Darling…” Rarity panted and twilight grinned as she inspected the unicorn's face. “You know, you’re actually pretty cute when you’re blushing!” Twilight said causing Rarity to blush further. They parted so that they could talk without being interrupted and embarrassed by Spike. “I’ve never been in a relationship before.” Twilight said blushing which caused Rarity to grin. “But I want to make this work. Let’s just go slow for now, okay?” “Fine by me, darling.” Was all rarity said in reply. Suddenly they heard a loud bang and saw the door swinging from the force of hitting the doorframe. The two mares rolled their eyes, finally figuring out why spike had been so bitter.
