Chapter One- How it began
Chapter One
Dear Princess Twilight,
Why? How could you? I hate you! I listened to you, I did what you asked, and I got this? Why? It’s just Dash and I now I can’t believe you did that. I would be surprised if you even get this letter. If you do get this, your Majesty, Princess Twilight Sparkle, I am a soldier now. The party pony is gone. I will never stop looking for Cadence, Sombra can’t and will never win so, give up Twilight. Sincerely, Pinkie Pie
I set my quill down and sighed. I looked over at Flurry Heart who was playing with blocks, I am her legal guardian until we find Cadence. My back throbbed, I walked to a mirror to get a good look at my back. Rainbow Dash had decided that to protect Flurry Heart and myself, we should move to Cloudsdale. Yet, I didn’t have wings. Dash talked to specialists in Cloudsdale and they told her of a spell that can be performed by Alicorns to give Earth ponies wings. That was how the fight started.
We asked Twilight to preform it and she refused, because we refused to tell her why she needed to do it. Suddenly she turned dark purple and black, she screamed some weird spell and King Sombra appeared. He was wearing more armor than before. His mane was a little messy but his evil smile had never faulted.
“Good job Twilight, soon you and I will rule Equestria, with you as my adopted daughter! Why don’t you give these fillies what they want and we will leave.” Sombra hissed.
“Yes… father” Twilight smiled creepily her horn glowed for a few seconds than dimmed. Suddenly terrible pain spread through my back like a wildfire. I screamed in agony. I felt bones form and jut out of my back. I fell to the ground as I could only her Sombra's distant cackles. After three minutes of lying on the ground, I stood. I didn’t realize what happened until I saw a cotton candy colored feather float to the floor. Dash slowly moved towards me and picked up the feather in her hoof. Sombra magically made a mirror so I could see my wings.
They were the same color as my coat, cotton candy pink, they were downy soft and slightly bigger than Dash's.
“Miraculous!” whispered Dash.
“Simply the best, up to the test when things go wrong.” Sombra laughed as he disappeared with Twilight. As I turned the last thing I saw of Twilight was her eyes glaring and a small smirk on her lips.
I’m here now. In Cloudsdale with Dash and Dream Heart (what we call Flurry so she doesn’t get attention, we cover her horn with a bonnet and dyed her mane). The war broke out eight months ago. I started going by Cotton Candy, because Pinkie Pie doesn’t have wings. Dash and I became soldiers, awesome soldiers. We joined the Shadows.
the Shadows are a group of amazing ponies with one quest, finding Princess Cadence. You may be wondering about Shining Armor. He is now the commander of the Shadows. He is the one who left Flurry Heart with me. The group is of three Pegasi, two Earth, and two Unicorns. The reason for the extra Pegasus is for scouting ahead.
I heard a beeping noise from the kitchen. That was the alarm for the Shadows which meant we were needed. I galloped to my closet and took my uniform out. It was dark blue and black and had holes for my wings, mane, and tail. I quickly put my mane in a ponytail (ha ponytail, still cracks me up). Since things have been serious lately my mane has been partially deflated so I straightened it (even though I don’t want to) and straightened my uniform out. I put Flurry Heart in a little travel cradle and went to check Dash.
Dash was sitting nicely on her bed, uniform beside her. Most of her room was a mess. It looked like she had grown a tantrum.
“Dashie? What’s wrong?” I asked as I sat beside her.
“Nothing, just looking through pictures.” Dash’s voice cracked halfway through the sentence. I peeked over her shoulder to see what pictures she was looking at. The first one was Applejack and I bucking apples at the farm. I felt tears in my eyes but blinked them away. The next was Twilight and Dash at the Golden Oak library, I heard her sniff back her pain. The last made me burst into tears it was a picture of Fluttershy and Rarity, they were at the Carousel Boutique.
Fluttershy was taking right after we came to live in Cloudsdale. I watched it happen.She was asking me about my wings and then suddenly out of nowhere Twilight appeared. She greeted us like it was normal, but suddenly she said,
“Fluttershy, Sombra needs a sweet, young, girl who with enough love will do anything for him. You have been chosen.” Before Fluttershy could fight back she was gone. Dash locked herself in her room for days. Which in that time Pinkie thought of ways to save Fluttershy. Then Shining Armor showed up, told her everything, and she became a Shadow.
Pinkie zapped out of her flashback and shook Dash back to reality.
“Dash, we need to go to the Shadows meeting. Come on!”
“I’m not going” Dash moaned though her cloud pillow.
“You’re not going my flank!” I bounced on her cloud bed until she got up and got done getting dressed.
“Ready?” Dash asked as she grabbed Flurry Heart and set her on her back.
“Lets go!” I squealed as I unfolded my wings. Dash and I smiled at each other as we flew. It was rare that we smiled.
