> Violet, I need your help again > by Fizzyberries302 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > No Way!!! > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Discord paced around the living room, deep in thought. ‘Get a hold of yourself, you’ve been dating for a year. It’s time to take it to the next level.’ he thought. “What if I screw up and she leaves me. What if she wants nothing to do with me anymore? What if she says ‘no’!” he muttered to himself. The diamond ring he held in his paw was what was getting him in a tizzy. He had been dating Fluttershy, the local animal carer for a year and now he felt it was time to take it to the next level. Said pony was at the Crystal Empire with her friends, to help Princess Cadence, who had a new baby. He gripped the tiny piece of jewellery in his fist. “I know who can help!” He plopped the ring into a pocket he made in his fur and went downstairs into the basement. A sweet aroma of flowers and a humming noise filled the air. Standing over a pot of boiling petals, was a violet pegasus, no older then sixteen and with her blonde hair tied back with a blue scrunchie. It was Fluttershy’s cousin, Violet-Rose or Violet for short. She was a perfume maker and in the middle of working on a new formula. Discord coughed to get her attention. The mare jumped and spun around, a small rainbow light was starting to emit from her chest, but died down when she saw her best friend standing there. “Discord, don’t scare me like that. I nearly used the Rainbow on you.” she breathed. Violet also possessed the Rainbow of Light, a powerful artefact that fused with her soul when she was four. "What brings you down here in the first place?” Discord rubbed the back of his neck, awkwardly. “Listen…Violet, you know how I have been dating Fluttershy for a year now?” “Yes.” “Well our anniversary is coming up and I kind of want to…take things to the next step.” Violet’s eyes widened as he pulled out a beautiful diamond ring. “No…” she stared up at him. “Yes, I want to ask her to marry me.” He yelped Violet pounced on him, squeezing him tight. “OMG! Dude, I’m so happy for you. Let me see the ring!” he handed her the ring and Violet examined it. She gave a low whistle. “Four carats,” she handed it back. “How did you get a ring with four carats?” “Found the jewel up in the mountains, I turned it into a ring since I didn’t want to buy one.” he explained. “Wow, so why are you here?” she asked, moving the pot to the cooling shelf. “Look, I know who were a big help getting me and Fluttershy together, but this is new for me…I don’t know how to propose?” “What do you mean you don’t know how to propose? All you have to do is ask her ‘Will you marry me?’ That’s what you’re supposed to do when your proposing, dummy?” said Violet, looking at her friend weirdly. “It’s hard, Violet!” Violet sighed. “Fair enough, it seems that history is repeating itself. Guess it means that you can’t survive without my help.” Discord’s face lightening up. “So you’ll do it!” “I’ll help you, but remember that you’ll have to do the talking, not me. I am not doing your job for you.” she said firmly. “Fine by me. How should I do it?” “How bout you help me with these perfumes, then we’ll talk.” Discord groaned and looked at all the perfumes and beauty treatments that Violet made. “Fine.” Once all the perfumes were packed into their separated boxes and placed into the crates. Violet told Discord to keep one half of the perfumes aside, while the others go into the crates. Violet grabbed her checklist and counted down the deliveries. “Scootaloo’s off sick today, so we’ll have to make the deliveries ourselves.” Discord groaned. “Do we have to? I kind of want to get down to business.” “Don’t worry, you’ll be holding the money bag and handing out the deliveries. I’ll be pulling the wagon.” she said. “Can you help me get these crates upstairs?” “Sure.” He snapped his fingers and they and the crates of perfumes and spa treatments were outside. The crates were all loaded onto an orange wagon, with a logo of a violet and a rose and the words painted in white, ‘Violet-Rose Perfumes and Spa Treatments’. Violet buckled herself into the harness and Discord sat in the back with the crates. They walked for a while, until they stopped at the gate of a big mansion. Violet ran the buzzer and a filly’s voice answered. “Who is it?” “It’s Violet-Rose, I have Miss Tiara’s delivery.” “One minute!” The filly hung up and the gate opened. Violet stepped inside and stopped at the front door. They were greeted by a pink earth pony filly with a white and pink curled mane and wearing a tiara on her head. “Hey Diamond Tiara.” “Violet! Where’s Scoots?” The filly asked, confused. “She’s off sick today so Discord’s helping me out.” “Oh? Well I hope she gets better, we are friends?” “Thank you for caring Diamond,” Violet turned her head. “Discord, could you pass down Diamond Tiara’s crate? It’s the one with the tiara on it.” Discord groaned and heaved the heavy crate down. The filly squealed and ripped off the top. “Diamond sparkle moisturiser with strawberry kisses, Lavender and Lilac perfume,” Diamond Tiara looked up at the perfume maker. “Where’s my Bluebell shampoo!” “Yeah, I know you wanted that one, but I have something better,” Violet pulled out a bottle with a coconut on it. “This is my newest shampoo, Coconut Kisses with a hint of Waterlilies. It’s able to get down to the roots of your scalp and your mane will smell like a tropical garden for a week.” “Well, I do like coconuts…” Diamond Tiara reluctantly took the bottle. “Okay, I’ll take it.” She called for her butler took take the crate inside. “That will be 10 bits, thank-you.” Violet said as Discord held out a pouch for the money. Diamond Tiara reached into her purse and placed ten gold coins into the pouch. “There you go, thank-you for the shampoo.” she said. “Your welcome, have a nice day.” Violet walked out of the gate for her other deliveries. It was noon when they had finished. Boy was Discord relieved. Violet was counting out the money on the dining table. “Wow, we made 350 bits today. My perfumes are getting more and more popular than ever.” She put all the coins into her safe, there were already at least a thousand gold bits stacked in there. Once she closed the safe and locked it, she faced Discord. “Now we can talk about your problem.” “Yeah, I have no idea on how I am going to ask her.” Violet instantly understood. “Oh I get it, it’s the nerves again.” Discord nodded. “Well we can fix that with practice.” Discord raised his arm to snap, but Violet stopped him. “No I’m not going to be Fluttershy again.” she protested. Discord groaned. “Fine, so what should I say. Before I you know…” “You could remind her of why she’s so special to you, you know, remind her of why you fell in love with her in the first place.” Violet said. Discord perked up. “That’s a good idea, but…” He then stroked his beard in thought. Violet jumped as a light bulb appeared above his head. “I got it! I’ll sing her another song, you can play the music, then I’ll on the evening of our anniversary I’ll have the entire park decorated with symbols of all the dates we’ve been on. Picture this: she’s walking down a candle lit pathway, then she spotted a replica of our first date, she sees more from our other dates all the while a song is playing, then she walks over a candle lit bridge, I’m waiting underneath the big tree, dressed in a tux. When she gets there, I take her hoof and sing the final chord. Then I’ll get down on one knee and ask her.” he explained. Violet was staring at him; a single tear was falling down her cheek. “Discord…that was beautiful.” she said, wiping it away. “You should so do that!” Discord grinned. “Great! But what of the park owners?” “I’ll have a talk with Mayor Mare.” Violet said. > Planning it out > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “So, let me get this straight. Discord is planning on proposing to Fluttershy and he needs the park to do so?” The mayor asked, her glasses slipping down her nose. “That’s pretty much it?” Violet said, hoping that the mayor would let them use a small area of the park. “How are you so calm? I mean, it’s Discord? Aren’t you afraid that he’s going to hurt her, she’s your cousin isn’t she?” “Yes, but Discord is not the evil villain you may think, he might have been before, but that was a thousand years ago.” “But how do you know he loves her?” Violet glared at her. “You’re kidding right? I have lived with him under the same roof for over a year now, he’s my best friend.” “You live with him?!” the mayor gasped. “Never mind about my personal life, this is about whether you are going to let me rent out a small area of park for one evening.” The mayor sighed. “Fine, but it’s going to cost you 150 bits to rent out the right side of the park for two hours.” Violet landed a bag of a coins on her desk. “Done!” The mayor took the money and handed her some paperwork. “Sign here please.” She pointed to a dotted line. Violet signed her name on the line and handed the paper back to the mayor. “You may go now.” she said. Violet got up and left. Outside the door to the mayor’s office, Discord was propped up against the wall. He straightened up when he saw her. “How did it go?” he asked. “Great, we have the entire right side of the park to ourselves for one evening.” "Excellent, now we have a few minutes to spare before we have to pick up the girls from the train station. What's say a trip to Sugar Cube Corner?" Discord grinned. Violet grinned at him. "What do you think?" ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The two best friends were seated at an empty table, talking while sipping lemonade. Violet looked up from her drink and saw Discord playing with his straw. "You okay?" she asked. "Sorry, i just can't believe this is happening. i'm just not sure how I feel about this." he explained. "How so?" "Well, I feel excited, but also nervous. What happens if I screw up?" As he said that, Mr. Cake walked past carrying a tray of dishes. He stopped when he heard the conversation. "What are you two talking about?" he asked. "Oh, nothing." Discord said quickly. "Didn't sound like nothing, what's going on?" Discord sighed and gave in. "I'm planning to propose to Fluttershy on our anniversary. Violet's been helping me." he explained. Mr. Cake's eyes widened. "You serious? Dude, that's quite an achievement. I'm guessing you've got a case of the wobblies." Discord stared at the yellow stallion. "Yes, how did you know?" "I'm already married silly, so I've been in this situation before. I remember when I proposed to Cupcake," he sighed at the memory. "How did you propose to her?" Violet asked. "We went to this baking festival because she had just entered one of her best cupcake recipes in the competition and she won. When the judges called her up to collect her ribbon, I walked up onto the stage and proposed right there. Best decision of my life, that was three years ago and now we have two beautiful foals." Mr. Cake explained. "How did you do it without throwing up?" Discord demanded. "I knew she loved me as much as I loved her, so there really wasn't anything to worry about, as soon as I said those four little words, she screamed with joy at a volume that could be heard all the way to Canterlot. Just focus on how much you love Fluttershy, because I guarantee that she loves you too." he asked. Discord looked away. "I still don't know," "Hey, what your feeling is just nerves playing tricks on you. You'll be fine and even if she says 'no' is doesn't mean she doesn't love you, it means that she's not ready for that kind of commitment yet, so you could try again in the next year or months." Mr. Cake gave him a pat on the back. Violet smiled and looked at the clock. "Look at the time, we've gotta go pick up the girls from the train station." Discord slapped himself in the face and teleported them both to the station, leaving Mr. Cake grinning. "Who knew that the Lord of Chaos would be so worked up over a proposal." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Not even two seconds of being there, the train rolled into view. Discord summoned a bouquet of flowers for Fluttershy. The doors opened at the Mane Six trotted out, one by one. Violet spotted her cousin and ran up to. “Fluttershy!” she said, embracing her only living family member. “How was the Crystal Empire?” “It was great; Flurry Heart is doing well.” At the end of the last summer, Twilight’s sister-in-law Princess Cadence had given birth to a foal, named Flurry Heart. Discord stepped forward and presented the flowers to his marefriend. “Welcome home, my dear.” he said, bowing. Fluttershy blushed and took the flowers. “Oh Discord…” she then gave him a peck on the lips, making Discord’s tail switch. “Hey, I know. Why don’t you all come over to our house for lunch?” Violet offered. “Sounds good to me!” Rainbow Dash said. “I’m down with that!” Pinkie chimed, bouncing on the spot. A minute later, they were all sitting at Fluttershy’s lengthy dining table, eating salads and talking about their day. “My perfumes are getting more and more popular by the minute.” Violet said. “Really? You know it’s hard to believe how much has happened in this past year. Especially for you Violet,” Twilight said. “Yeah, seems like only yesterday I was dressed in rags in the kitchen. Now look at me; I have a nice home, a loving family, caring friends, a boyfriend who loves me more than anything and a power beyond my imagination.” Violet said. The group of friends laughed as they reminisced about the past year and how much has happened. Violet saw the look in Discord’s eye and winked. “What are you two winking at?” Applejack asked. Discord turned a pale grey. “Nothing!” he then started shoving the salad down his throat. The friends all looked at each other, sharing confused looks. They all turned to Violet. “Violet, what’s going on?” Twilight asked. Discord turned to her in a panic. Violet held her hooves up in defence. “I can’t tell any of you.” “Ohhh, a secret!” Pinkie cried. The pink pony appeared in Violet’s face. “What are you hiding?!” she demanded. Violet shoved Pinkie back into her seat. “Nothing!” “Sugar-cube, I know that you’re lying. What is it?” Applejack smirked. Violet groaned and rubbed her forehead, forgetting that Applejack was a living lie detecter. “All of you, just drop it! We can’t tell you at all! Deal with it!” she snapped. Her outburst caused the mares to scoot back into their seats. “Sorry, Violet. We got carried away.” They said. Discord breathed a sigh of relief. The rest of lunch was awkward as the mares kept glancing at Violet and Discord, still curious to what they were hiding. Once everyone had finished, they left in silence, leaving the three roommates standing there. “Violet, can I talk to you?” Fluttershy asked. “Sure!” The two mares went upstairs to their room. Once the door was shut, they sat down on Violet’s bed and Fluttershy stared at her. “What was that all about?” she asked in a low tone. Violet hid her face in her hair. “Nothing,” “Violet, are you and Discord…” “NO!” Violet screamed. “I would never do that! I would never betray you or Comet.” “Promise?” “Cross my heart and hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye.” Fluttershy’s face softened, knowing that no pony could break a Pinkie Promise. “Okay, then what’s the secret?” Violet looked away from her cousin. “It’s…something for your anniversary…but Discord wants it to be a surprise.” She hadn’t told her cousin that Discord had been planning to propose to her. “Really? Well, I wouldn’t want to spoil the surprise.” Fluttershy said. “Yeah, then it wouldn’t be a surprise.” The cousins chuckled. “Okay, I’m satisfied.” The yellow pegasus said, smiling. “That’s cool. Now I’ve got a date with Comet tonight.” said Violet, getting up. For at least a year, Violet had been dating a stallion named Comet Blitz. He was a pegasus of nineteen, who worked in the weather factory, where he made rainbows. Violet tied the necklace he gave her for her sixteenth birthday, grabbed her purse, filled with bits and walked out the door. Sure enough, her coltfriend was waiting for her. He had a golden yellow coat, vibrant blue hair and his eyes were an icy blue. “Violet, you ready to go?” he asked. “Ready as I’ll ever be.” The pegasi couple walked out the door, leaving Fluttershy and Discord behind. Fluttershy had come downstairs and was facing Discord. He put on his cheeky grin that he knew drew her crazy. “Now that we’re alone…” he surprised her by dipping her and welcoming her in a passionate kiss. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Meanwhile, Violet and Comet were sitting by a lake, talking and gazing into each other’s eyes. “It’s beautiful out here.” she said, watching the suns reflection on the water. “I’m glad you think so, I used to come here every day with my dad.” Comet noticed her tense up. He put a comforting hoof around her. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said that.” “Nah, it’s fine.” she said, brushing her hair out of her face. “What's he like?” “Who?” “Your Dad, what's he like?” “Oh, he's a great guy. Always there for me, we would always come down here and camp here for the night. As a colt, we would go swimming in the lake, sometimes he would dive under and grab me by the tail and try to pull me under,” he paused to chuckle. “Oh he was the biggest crack-up then, drove Mom mad.” “How come I have never met him?” Violet asked. “Yeah about that, I have arranged for them to meet you tonight, see the reason you’ve never met them is because they live in Fillidelphia. But I was able to get them to come for a visit, they’ve been wanting to meet you for a while now.” he explained. “Really, where?” “There’s a local restaurant in town that I’m taking you to, they’re going to meet us there.” “I can’t wait,” Violet said, snuggling into his neck. Comet wrapped a wing around his marefriend. ‘Sweet Celestia, I love her so much.' When the sun started to set, Comet led Violet over to the restaurant. It was cosy winter cabin themed, with beautiful woodworks for the tables and chairs. A fireplace was burning on the far side of the room. Violet spotted a mare and a stallion, both pegasi. The mare was coral red with her blue greying mane tied into a short curly up do that looked like something from the 80’s. She had a few wrinkles under her eyes and wore a pearl necklace. Her eyes were the same icy blue as Comet’s. The stallion was slightly chubby and was the same golden yellow as Comet, but his eyes were brown and his short cut mane and bushy moustache was red. He also wore a green dress shirt. “That’s them.” said Comet. They walked over to the older couple. “Comet!” the mare cried and planted a kiss on his cheek. “Hey Mom,” Comet said. “Hey Pop,” he said, playfully slapping his father on the back. Comet pulled out a seat for Violet and pushed her in, before sitting now next to her. “Mom, Dad, this is my girlfriend Violet-Rose. Violet, these are my parents.” His mother leaned over to shake her hoof. “Bless you, Violet. My son has told us so much about you.” “Thanks, what’s your name?” “Oh where are my manners, I’m Sunny Skies, that’s my husband Golden Wing. We’ve heard so much about you.” “All good things I hope.” Violet chuckled. A conversation started. “So, Violet. What do you do for a living?” Golden asked. “Well, I’m a perfume maker. I make all sorts of perfumes and beauty treatments, all from natural ingredients I grow in my garden.” Golden simply nodded his head. Sunny noticed the necklace around Violet’s neck. “That’s a beautiful necklace.” “Oh this, your son gave it to me on my sixteenth birthday last year.” “Haha, well my boy. You got yourself a good girl.” Golden chuckled. A waitress came over to their table. “Are you ready to order?” she asked. “Yes, I think I’ll have the potato soup and what about you, hun?” Golden asked his wife. “I think I’ll go for the pasta.” “I’ll have the casserole.” Comet said. “And I’ll have the pumpkin salad.” Violet said. “Any drinks?” The waitress asked. “Just a bottle of Zap Apple Cider.” The waitress jotted everything down on her notepad. “Your food will be ready soon.” she said. “So, Violet. Comet’s told us that you are friends with the Mane Six, is this true?” Sunny asked. “Yes, I’m even related to Fluttershy.” “The Element of Kindness?!” They cried. “She’s my cousin, on my mother’s side.” Violet explained. “And, don’t you live with her too?” Golden asked. “Well, she’s family isn’t she? Her coltfriend lives there too. He’s a very sweet guy, I even see him as a brother.” “Really?” Sunny marvelled. “Who is her coltfriend.” Violet paled at this. How were they going to react when she told them about Discord? “Well, he’s…not exactly popular with some ponies, but my cousin, my friends and even the princesses like him.” “Who is he?” Violet bit her lip. Here goes… “Discord…her coltfriend is Discord the Lord of Chaos.” she said. Sunny and Golden looked at her shocked. “And you’re okay with this?!” Golden snapped. “I’ve lived with him for a year now, I’d trust him with my life.” “But…aren’t you afraid he’ll turn evil again?” Violet and Comet rolled their eyes. “This again! Mom, that was a thousand years ago. Fluttershy was the one to bring out the good in him.” Comet explained to his startled parents. “But…he’s…” “My best friend.” Violet interrupted. “He would never hurt me, my cousin, my friends or anypony for that matter. He’s actually quite a nice guy, he even helped me with my deliveries.” Once their food arrived, no one said anything for a while. Violet wasn’t too sure about how her boyfriend’s parents felt about her being friends with Discord. It was Comet who broke the silence. “So…Violet, why don’t you tell them more about yourself?” His parents looked up from their food. “Yes, tell us.” Violet gulped. “Well, apart from my job I really enjoy walks in the park and flying. I just love the feeling of being lighter than air.” Sunny just nodded. Golden leaned forward. “Well I think those are amazing hobbies for you, but what about your patchwork friend. Don’t you hang out with him?” he asked, venomously. “Gold, please…” “I’m telling you Sunny, that ‘Discord’ is trouble and I don’t want my son to be around him. He’s bad news.” Violet nearly choked on her cider. “Excuse me?! Do you even know what he's been through?” “He went on a rampage! He’s dangerous! And I don’t want you to come anywhere near my son!” he pointed at Violet. “Wha...what?” “You heard me! You either end your friendship or end your relationship!” he shouted. “Dad! Stop it! I’ve seen it with my own eyes, Discord is not as evil as he used to be!” Comet snapped, slamming his hoof onto the table. “Comet, what’s gotten into you? Your dating a girl who lives under that same roof as that ‘Freak’!” Violet couldn’t stand it anymore and broke down crying. “Gold, that’s enough. You’ve gone and made the poor girl cry.” Sunny got out of her seat and went over to Violet. “Sunny, stay away from that girl!” “Gold stop this foalish behaviour right now, you’re making a scene!” “To Tartarus with that! She can’t be around my son!” he roared. Comet had had enough. “That’s enough! Come on Violet, we’re leaving.” He grabbed Violet by the hoof and started to lead her out the restaurant. “COMET STREAKING BLITZ! YOU GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW!” Golden Wing roared. Comet stormed out of the restaurant and didn’t stop walking until they were at Fluttershy’s cottage. They burst inside to see Fluttershy and Discord making out on the couch. The couple broke away seeing Violet crying and Comet looking ready to kill. “What happened?” Fluttershy asked, running to her little cousin. Violet sobbed into her mane. “It was my jackass of a father.” Comet spat. “What did he do?” Discord asked, concerned for his friends. “He said that I can’t be with Violet because she lives with you.” “What!” Discord snapped. “He…called you ‘patchwork’ and a ‘freak’. Saying that I can’t be with Comet because of this.” Violet spluttered. Discord shrank back in shock and rage. “He what! But…but that’s not right, what did you do wrong?” “I don’t know what’s gotten into him, that wasn’t the same stallion who raised me.” Comet muttered. The four friends sat down on the couch and discussed what happened. “Maybe you should talk to him?” Fluttershy said, her hoof still around Violet. “I don’t know if that’s a good idea, he was pretty cranky.” They all jumped as there was a frantic knock at the door. Comet got up to open the door and saw… “Mom? How did you find this place?” “I followed you here, I’m so sorry for how your father reacted, he’s been having a hard time at work lately.” “That doesn’t change the way he spoke to Violet.” “Please honey, he regretted those things the minute you guys left. He really does like Violet.” Comet looked back at his friends. “I still don’t know, I just told Fluttershy and Discord and they’re not too impressed.” Sunny Skies put her hoof on her son’s arm. “Please Comet, just give him a chance, he’s your father and he loves you. Besides we’re already here.” Comet looked past his mother and saw his father standing there, a look of guilt on his face. Comet had to admit that he felt bad for his father. “Fine, you can come in, but any funny business, you’re out.” “Thank you Comet.” Comet pulled the door open and the older couple stepped inside. “Sunny? Golden? What are you…” Violet began. “These the ponies who gave you grief Violet?” Discord asked. “So you’re the infamous Lord of Chaos?” Golden marvelled, looking slightly confused. “I thought that you’d be much more terrifying.” “And you’re the guy who called me a ‘patchwork freak’.” Discord said, glaring. “Yeah…sorry about that…it’s just your past…and I thought…” “Yeah, yeah, I know what I did and lemme guess. You thought Violet must have picked up a few things from me.” “That’s pretty much it…” Golden muttered. “Well you should know that you have nothing to be worried about because I’m not like that anymore, thanks to Fluttershy here. And incase you were wondering, I am the last of my kind,” Discord explained. "Long Story, let's just say that my parents were killed along with my kind." Golden Wing collapsed onto an armchair. “Celestia…I have been such an idiot. The minute I heard that Violet lived with the spirit of chaos, I thought that Comet was going to be put in danger. Seeing this in front of me proves that I was wrong…” He turned his head to Violet. “I am so sorry Violet.” “It’s okay, I understand that you were just looking out for your son.” “Thank you, I think Comet has picked a fine mare.” “Well, now that’s been taken care of, who’s up for some tea.” Fluttershy said. “Yes please, I could really use some tea right now.” Sunny smiled. Discord snapped up a large pot of tea, seven tea cups and a plate of cakes and biscuits. Violet eventually took a liking to Comet’s parents. Sunny was everything a mother should be; kind, loving and caring. Just like her own mother. Golden Wing turned out to be a rather nice guy that Violet took a liking to very quickly. She was happy when he and Discord started joking about random things. Fluttershy just listened politely and poured out the tea. Violet and Comet shared a look of relief and satisfaction. “I think they like you Violet,” he said. “Is it that obvious?” she smirked, planting a kiss on his lips. They broke away blushing. Once all the tea and nibbles were gone, it was time for the parents to leave. “Tonight was great, a few hiccups but it was great.” Violet said. “Glad you think so.” Sunny said, pecking her on the cheek. “You know; I’ve always wanted a filly. You might be the closest thing I’ll ever have to a daughter.” Violet then remembered her own mother, she hadn’t known how much she missed her. The mare who sacrificed herself for her daughter. “Well I hope to see you two again soon.” she said, trying to hide her sadness. Once they left, Violet finally let her tears out. “Violet? What’s wrong?” Comet asked. “It’s just…meeting your parents has made me realise how much I miss my own.” she sobbed into her boyfriend’s embrace. “Oh Violet…” Fluttershy said, wrapping her arms around her cousin. Discord joined in and wrapped his serpent-like body around them all, since it worked better for him. Violet enjoyed to warmth of their bodies, sealing her in a protective shield. She felt the tears slow down as the comforting warmth entered her body. She pulled away, sighing. “Thank you guys,” she murmured, her cheeks glistening with her tears. Violet slept peacefully that night. > How to be a Husband > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- At breakfast the next morning, Fluttershy made a surprising announcement. “Tomorrow is our anniversary,” she said, giving Discord a smile. “Got anything special planned for us?” she battered her eyes at him. Discord gulped and turned to Violet. Violet gave him a wink and nodded her head towards Fluttershy. “I…of course dear...its,” He glanced over at Violet who mouthed ‘Surprise’. “A surprise! Yes, it’s a surprise. I can’t tell you about it.” “Aww,” Fluttershy pouted. “Can’t you just give me a hint?” Discord bopped her on the nose. “No can do, my little butterfly. You’ll just have to wait.” He then nuzzled her, making her giggle. Violet gathered up all the dishes. “Who’s turn is it to wash the dishes?” “Mine,” said Discord, taking the pile of dishes. With his magic, he levitated them into the sink and the dishes began to wash and dry themselves. “Well I have to go now. I’m meeting the Breezies today,” Fluttershy said. “Take care,” Discord called. Violet got down from her chair and when to the board. “Okay, I need to make 300 more bottle of Violet Rose perfume, 250 cases of lavender moisturiser and seventeen bars of strawberries and cream soap.” She grabbed the list and went down into the basement. Discord just sat down on the lengthy couch, flipping through a book. Violet emptied her newest patch of perfume into spray bottles. This one was Bluebell and Roses. Then she started on making a new batch of Violet Rose perfume, her most popular brand and also the easiest to remember. While the pot of perfume was boiling, she started mixing the moisturiser together in a bowl. Luckily for her, Discord used his magic to give her a lifetime supply of moisturiser base, so all she had to do was get a cup of the stuff and mix in the flavour. Then with a wooden spoon, she scooped the mixture into their separate containers. The soap was the hardest to make since it involved a lot of compressing and cutting. It was 2:00 when she had finished. Now she had to make the deliveries. “Need any help?” said a voice. “Oh hi Discord, yes that would be nice. I need to make these deliveries.” Without warning, Discord snapped his fingers and the crates of deliveries were gone and in their place was a pile of gold bits. “I hope you didn’t steal.” she said. “Never! I just dropped them all off at their doorstep and the payment was already there.” “That makes no sense.” “Oh but what fun is there in making sense!” he cried, throwing his hands in the air. Violet rolled her eyes. “Must you always make that joke, it’s getting old.” “No it isn’t, anyway I came down here to ask for your help. It’s about the proposal.” “Oh right! Well, have you chosen the song.” “Yep, but…” he turned away from her. “Oh no, I know that look.” she spun him around so he was facing her. “What’s wrong?” “It’s just…I’m not sure if I’ll be a good husband…” “Oh? Why is that?” “I don’t know how to be a good husband. I mean, what am I supposed to do?” Violet nodded. “Ah…” Then she grabbed a record and put it in the player. A song started to play. “If you really want to know…” She started to sing. Dear future husband Here's a few things You'll need to know if you wanna be Her one and only all her life Take her on a date She deserves it, bae And don't forget the flowers every anniversary 'Cause if you'll treat me right She'll be the perfect wife Buying groceries Buy-buying what you need You got that 9 to 5 But, Dissy, so do I So don't be thinking we'll be home and baking apple pies I never learned to cook But she can write a hook Sing along with me Sing-sing along with me (hey) You gotta know how to treat her like a lady Even when she’s acting crazy Tell her everything's alright Dear future husband, Here's a few things you'll need to know if you wanna be Her one and only all her life Dear future husband, If you wanna get that special lovin' Tell her she’s beautiful each and every night After every fight Just apologize And maybe then she’ll let you try and rock her body right (right) Even if she was wrong [Laugh] You know she’s never wrong Why disagree? Oh-woah Future husband, better love her right She finished by smiling at her exasperated friend. “Get all that?” Discord rubbed the back of his neck. “I guess, gosh I didn’t think that being a husband would be that much work, maybe this isn’t a good idea…” “Oh no you don’t. You don’t have to do all that, just do what works for you and Fluttershy. Besides, I don’t think it will be hard as you’ve also been living together for a year and until recently, you also have had custody of me.” “Well, your family.” he said, smiling. They spun around when they heard the doorbell ring. “That must be Rarity, back again for the newest bottle of perfume.” Violet fluttered upstairs, holding a bottle of Bluebell perfume, Discord following behind. Sure enough, the unicorn was standing in the doorway. “Hey Violet, what’s your newest batch?” “Come on in and I’ll show you.” Rarity sat down on the couch with Violet and Discord. Violet held out the bottle. “This is it,” Rarity took the bottle with her magic and sprayed herself with it. “Bluebells and Roses.” Discord was sitting there, clearly daydreaming. “I wonder if her bouquet would have roses in it.” “What?” Rarity asked. Discord yelped and blushed bright red. “Nothing,” Violet put her hoof on his paw. “Tell her.” “Tell me what?” The unicorn gasped as she remembered. “Is this the secret you two have been hiding?!” Discord looked at Violet, who nudged him to tell her. “I…I’m planning to…propose to…Fluttershy,” “And I’m helping him…again.” she explained. Rarity squealed and jumped on Discord. “NO WAY! SHOW ME THE RING!” Discord pulled out the ring. Rarity gasped. “Four carets, oh Discord, Fluttershy’s going to love it.” “Thanks, now get off.” “Oops, sorry.” The unicorn shifted back to her seat. “So when are you going to propose?” “Tomorrow night in the park.” he explained. “Oh this is amazing! I have to tell the other girls!” “Okay, but not Applejack or Pinkie. You know how bad they are at keeping secrets.” “Okay, but they’ll have to find out sooner or later.” Rarity pointed out. “Yeah, maybe wait until after the proposal,” He glanced down at the ring in his paw. “I just hope she says, ‘yes’.” “Darling of course she’ll say yes, just looked at that ring. Who wouldn’t say yes to that.” Rarity chimed. “Well I’ll best be going now, thanks for the perfume.” “It’s nothing.” Violet said, waving her friend off. Once Rarity left Discord started tearing the cupboards and drawers apart. “What are you doing?” Violet asked. “I’m looking for pictures and photos of all the dates I went on with Fluttershy.” “Uh…you do know you could just snap your fingers and summon them all here.” “I know, but I don’t know what exactly I’m looking for, even my magic has limits.” Violet rolled her eyes. “Alright, I’ll help you.” The two friends started fumbling around for memories. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “How’s this?” Violet asked, holding up a picnic blanket. “That’s from a picnic we had a few months back. I took her to this hill overlooking the town.” he explained. Violet then pulled out a photo album and flipped through it. “Jackpot!” she cried. The entire album was filled with pictures of Discord and Fluttershy one all their dates from the past year. “Perfect, we could decorate the pathway with these photos.” he exclaimed. They piled all the memories into a small box, now all they had to do was practice the song. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ “No Discord, your coming in too fast. When I start to play, you count three, then you start singing.” “ARGH! I’m never going to get this right!” he screamed, pulled hard on his ears. “Says the guy who wrote her a song last year,” she smirked. “Let’s try that chord one more time,” They didn’t get far when a bird dropped a scroll on Discord’s head. He unravelled it. “It’s from Fluttershy, she’s staying the night due to a riot between some Breezies.” “When’s she going to be back?” “Tomorrow, noon.” “Good that means that we have all that time to practice!” Discord groaned rubbing his forehead. “And I think you got it!” Violet cried. “Bout time, that took forever.” Discord croaked. Violet looked up at the clock, it read 8:45. “How bout we have a quick dinner, sleep on it and we’ll refresh first then in the morning.” “Nah, I’m just going to sleep on it.” said Discord, summoning a pillow, blanket and a mug of hot chocolate. Violet rolled her eyes and went back up to her own bed. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next morning, Discord woke to the sound of Violet in the kitchen. “Morning,” he said, groggily. “Morning. Now eat up, we have a big day ahead of you.” she said, shoving plate of eggs in his face. “Big day?” “It’s your anniversary! You’re proposing today!” Discord jumped when he realised and began to gulp down his breakfast. After breakfast, they went back to practice. It was 10 o’clock when they finished. “And…wrap that up and give it to a child on Hearths Warming, cause we’re done!” Violet said, beaming. “Finally,” he looked out the window. “Violet?” “Yeah,” “I’m a little nervous.” “Hey, don’t worry. It will be all over soon and I’ll be right over in the bushes, coaching you. But what you’re going to say has to come from you and only you.” “I get that, now what are we waiting for.” “Hold on, we can’t have Fluttershy around while we set up the park. We need her away from the scene so it doesn’t spoil anything.” she explained. “But who’s going to be the distraction?” They looked at each other. “Rarity!” > Proposal > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The unicorn shrieked as Discord and Violet appeared in her boutique. “What are you doing?!” she cried. “Rarity, we need your help. We need you and the other girls to provide a distraction while we set up the park. Just keep Fluttershy away for a few hours.” “Fine, but what can I do?” “Just get the girls together and take her out for a girl’s day.” Violet said. “How am I supposed to know when you’re ready?” Rarity asked. “I’ll give you an ear piece, we’ll have one too.” Discord explained, snapping up three tiny ear pieces. “Alright, I’ll help you. Now, excuse me, I have some news to spread.” “Remember, not to Applejack or Pinkie Pie!” Violet hollered. “Got it!” Rarity cried, disappearing out the door. “Okay, that’s got Rarity to help, now let’s get to that park.” Violet said. Discord snapped his fingers and they were in the area of park they had hired. Violet looked around at the scenery. “Right,” She turned to see Discord taking pictures of the scenery. “Discord this is no time for taking selfies, we got work to do.” ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ “NO WAY!” Twilight, Rainbow and Spike cried. They were all in Twilight's library. “It’s true, he’s going to propose to Fluttershy!” Rarity said, smiling. “This is amazing!” Twilight squealed. “I can’t believe that he’s going to propose. We gotta tell the others!” Rainbow cried, making a beeline for the door “No, we can’t. You know that Applejack is the worst liar in Equestria and Pinkie will just blurt it out.” “Fair point, now let’s go have a girl’s day out!” Twilight cried. “Ahem…” said Spike. “You can come too.” Rarity said, patting the dragons head. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ “Hey Fluttershy, how were the Breezies?” Rainbow asked, trying to hide her grin. “It was great,” The pegasus looked around. “Where’s Discord?” “He…he uh…he’s in Canterlot helping Princess Celestia with something.” Twilight lied. Fluttershy raised an eyebrow. “On our one-year anniversary?” “Uh yeah, urgent call, unavoidable, had to go!” Rainbow spluttered. “What’s going on you two?” Pinkie asked. “Are ya hidin somethin?” Applejack asked. “Err...come on girls, we’ve got a big day planned!” Rarity cried, yanking Fluttershy’s hoof. “But I want to see Discord!” She cried, desperately. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Okay, I think that’s everything. And perfect timing too.” Violet looked out at the pathway; they had decorated it with photos of all those dates. The path was also lit by rose scented candles that Violet had made. Discord had even turned the stream under the bridge into chocolate milk and cotton candy clouds with rose candles in them were floating on the stream. This gorgeous scenery led all the way up to the base of a tree, we’re Discord had set up a small picnic blanket with a basket of food and two champagne glasses. He was dressed in a simple black tux, white shirt, blue vest, yellow bow tie and white gloves. “I’m scared Violet, what if she says no!” “Don’t worry about it, you can do this. Remember how you were last year?” “Yeah, that was the best night of my life.” “But you were a nervous wreck, same as now.” she smirked. “Listen, if you can take over Equestria in a day, the you can ask your marefriend a simple question!” “Your right!” he puffed out his chest. “Okay, I’m ready!” “Good, I’ll call Rarity and let her know.” Violet then activated her ear piece. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Elsewhere, the Mane Six were sitting at the shore of a lake, when Violet voice came through on Rarity’s ear piece. “We’re ready, send her over.” “Okay,” she whispered. “Uh…girls, why don’t we got for a walk in the park.” She winked at Twilight and Rainbow Dash. “Yeah, lets!” The rainbow maned pegasus cried. The two earth ponies looked at each other. “What’s goin on?” Applejack demanded. Rainbow ignored her and grabbed Fluttershy’s hoof. The confused pegasus was dragged all the way down to the path. “We’re on our way!” Rarity whispered. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ “Their coming! Positions!” Violet cried as she jumped behind a bush with the guitar. Discord gulped and tugged the collar of his suit. The ring was nestled in his pocket. “Okay Discord, it’s now or never!” he thought. The six ponies and dragon we’re leading her down to the park. Suddenly they stopped at the start of the candle lit pathway. “What…what is this?” Fluttershy asked. “I think…it’s for you Flutters.” Rainbow nudged her forward. “But…” “Go!” The butter yellow pegasus was confused, but slowly walked down the pathway. Those who knew started giggling. “Let’s follow,” Rainbow whispered. Applejack and Pinkie looked at each other. “What’s going on?” they asked. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Fluttershy walked down the candlelit pathway, then she spotted a picture of her and… “Discord?” she kept walking, taking in the scenery. The candles cast a beautiful glow on the dark pathway. Fluttershy kept walking and saw more pictures and things from all the dates she and Discord went on. Her ears picked up on the sound of a guitar playing, followed by a familiar voice. Nearby, the other ponies were following Fluttershy from the bushes. They heard the music too. Fluttershy stepped onto a bridge and looked into the water. Seeing it was brown, she dipped her hoof in it and licked. “Chocolate milk?” 'Can't help falling in love with you' https://youtu.be/4eSPSCDe_LE Then she saw that there were candles floating on boats of cotton candy. Her heart swelled up as everything came together. She kept walking until she saw a familiar figure standing under the tree. “Discord!” she ran up to her coltfriend as he sang the final line. “Discord, this is beautiful.” She said, looking out at the scenery. “It’s our anniversary, Fluttershy.” he said, pouring her some grape juice. They sat down on the blanket sipping their drinks. Discord then brought how her favourite foods. “Oh Discord…” she murmured as he cut her a slice of carrot cake. “For you mi amore.” he handed her a slice of cake. Fluttershy slowly chewed, while Discord calmly watched, sipping his drink. “Did you do all this?” she asked. He chuckled. “I had a little help from a friend.” he grinned slyly. Discord caught sight of Violet, urging him to pop the question. The other ponies were watching the scene with anticipation, except AJ and Pinkie. They just watched in confusion. Discord gulped and snapped away the empty plates, before taking Fluttershy’s hooves in his hands. He would have gotten down on one knee, except he was taller than her. “Here goes nothing…” He felt more confident without Violet to assist him. Maybe it was the heat of the moment, maybe it he was thinking about the satisfaction of the end result, or maybe he was too love sick to do much else. But the words slipped from his mouth as easily as a sphere would roll down a hill. “Fluttershy, before I met you, I thought that I was a creature incapable of any kind of love. I’ll admit, when I first saw you I didn’t think much of you, but I never expected to gain something far greater than chaos. You have given me so much this past year; your kindness, your friendship and your love. I want to show you how much I love you,” he reached into his pocket and pulled out the ring, now on a gold chain. “Fluttershy, will you marry me?” Fluttershy hadn’t expected this at all, her eyes widened and her mouth opened slightly. She knew those words were real, how could she be dreaming. To her disbelief she felt like…crying? But she let the tears fall down her blushing cheeks, just as she let the single word he wanted to hear. “Yes!” Discord jumped, wondering if he heard her correctly. Fluttershy had never seen his face so happy. He didn’t even have time to slip the chain around her neck when she pounced on him, throwing her arms around his neck. “Yes! Yes! A million times yes!” she sobbed. Discord began to feel his own tears fall down his cheeks as he slipped the chain around her neck. Fluttershy examined the ring around her neck. “Oh Discord, it’s beautiful.” “I love you, my little butterfly.” he said, wrapping his arms around her in an embrace. “I love you too, Dissy.” The newly engaged couple welcomed each other in a passionate kiss. They pulled away when they saw Violet coming out of the bushes. “Congratulations you two.” she said, trying to fight the tears. “Thank you for your help, Violet.” Discord said, hugging his best friend. “Wait, was this the surprise?” Fluttershy asked. “Yep, this nervous wreck came to me for help…again.” They all jumped when a shrill whistle broke the silence, followed by the thunderous applause that could wake the entire neighbourhood. They turned to see the other five ponies and dragon cheering, clapping and whistling. Rainbow and Spike were the loudest at cheering, Applejack was yelling “Yehaw!” while the others were fighting the urge to cry. Rarity was dabbing a handkerchief on her eye. They all walked over to congratulate the couple. “That was so beautiful,” Twilight sobbed. “I’ll have to inform Princess Celestia about this.” “Did all of ya know about this?” Applejack asked. “I didn’t!” Pinkie said. “We couldn’t tell you two because we all know how terrible you two are with secrets.” Violet explained. The cowgirl and party pony rolled their eyes. “Fair enough.” “Oh please can I make the dress!” Rarity asked, her fashionista instinct glowing. “Oooo please can I plan the reception, I had some much fun planning Cadence and Shining Armour’s wedding!” Pinkie squealed. The rest of the Mane Six started to flood the engaged couple with lots of questions. “How long do you suppose it will be until they get married?” Violet asked herself. > Wedding > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Four months later Fluttershy was standing in front of a lengthy mirror, staring at reflection. Rarity had done an excellent job at making her dress, she had even made the dresses for her bridesmaids; Pinkie, Applejack, Twilight, Rainbow, Violet and herself. “Oh Fluttershy, you look like a princess in that gown.” Violet said. She truly did; the dress was ivory white with a short train and vines along the hem and gold highlights. Her veil was adorned with pearls, her mane was in a loose bun with the veil over eyes and a wreath of roses was resting on top of her head. She only wore blush and lip gloss and on her hooves were gold slippers. Violet was wearing a simple teal gown that blended well with her coat. Her blonde mane was in its usual loose style. On her hooves were silver shoes and she wore pink lip gloss. “Thanks to Rarity, Discord’s going to drop dead when he sees you.” Rainbow joked. She was wearing a shimmering red gown, with lightning bolts along the hem. “I hope not, then we'd have to cancel the wedding and have a funeral instead.” Violet grinned. “Ouch! Seriously Applejack, you always pull to hard, I’m not a filly anymore I can tie my own bow.” Apple Bloom cried. She and the CMC were going to be the flower girls, even though they were thirteen. Each of the CMC were wearing matching white dresses, with pink frills along the edges and a wreath of pink roses on their heads. Applejack was wearing an autumn coloured dress, her mane was let loose over her shoulder and she had a single rose behind her ear. Rarity was dressed in a shiny blue gown that had two layers. The layer underneath was a lighter blue then the upper. Her mane was curled and resting over her shoulder. Pinkie was wearing a pink and blue dress with a layer of lace underneath. She wore candy clips in her curly hair. All and all, they all looked beautiful. The wedding was going to be held in the Canterlot throne room. Princess Luna was performing the ceremony and the Mane Fives coltfriends and Comet Blitz were the groomstallions. Except for Spike, who was the ring bearer. “Just think, in a few hours you’ll be married.” Rarity said. The mares and three fillies jumped at the frantic knocking at the door. It was Spike. “Hello, Violet are you in there? Emergency!” Violet rolled her eyes. “It's probably nothing,” she said. “One second Spike!” she hollered. The teenage pegasus walked out into the hall. Spike was wearing the same tux he wore at the Gala last year. But the dragon was panting and out of breath. “Thank goodness, Violet we have a problem.” he looked off to the side, with a worried expression on his face. “What’s the problem?” Violet asked. “It’s Discord, he’s getting,” he whispered the rest in Violet’s ear. “Cold Feet.” “WHAT!” Violet gasped. Her shock turned to rage as she sprinted down the hall to the grooms dressing room, followed by Spike. Violet burst open the door to find the several stallions wrestling Discord to the floor. “I can’t do it! I’m too young!” he cried, desperately. “You’re a thousand years old! That’s far from being young!” Soarin groaned, trying to hold his head down. Discord went to snap but Flash Sentry grabbed his hand. “Don’t let him snap!” he cried. “Alright Discord, what’s this about getting cold feet?” Violet asked, venomously. The group of stallions got off Discord and the draconequus stood up. “Violet! You’ve gotta help me! I can’t do it!” he cried. “Yes you can, you’re not abandoning my cousin at the altar.” Violet spat. “I’m sorry Violet, but this is the truth. I can’t do it!” he cried, giving her a puppy face. Violet’s eyes were filled with pure rage. “Don’t make me drag you out there like a sack of potatoes!” Discord was now begging on his knees. “Violet, please get me out of here-OW!" he cried as Violet slapped him across the face. “I can’t believe you! After everything I’ve done to help you get with Fluttershy in the first place, you’re throwing it all back in my face. If I hadn’t helped you, you’d still be on that couch, wallowing in misery!” She violently grabbed his beard and yanked him over so he was looking in her eyes. Even the other stallions were afraid of the teenage pegasus. “Now tell me. Who was the one who set you up with her in the first place? Who was the pony who had to set her job aside to help her friend propose? Who was the one who gave you advice on how to get the girl?!” she demanded. Discord hung his head. “You…” he trailed off. “Now tell me this Discord. Do you love my cousin?” “Of course.” “Do you want to hold her?” “Yes.” “Do you want to stand by her side?” “Yes!” “Then what are you waiting for!” Violet cried, grinning. Her plan had worked. Discord jumped up and snapped himself into a white tux, white shirt, blue vest and pink bow tie. “Okay I’m ready!” he cried. Violet laughed. “Now get your ass out there and kiss that bride!” “I can’t do this…” Discord whimpered, clutching his tail. “What was I thinking when I proposed…she’s going to leave me.” “That's rich coming from you,” Violet said, smirking. “No one asked you Violet!” he snapped. They were standing underneath an arch of roses. Since Fluttershy and Discord had few relatives, the ponies from Ponyville and Cloudstale sat on the bride’s side and the ponies from Canterlot sat on the grooms. Discord started to sweat and kept glancing at the door. “It’s actually quite hot in here.” he muttered, turning the end of his tail into a fan. “Will you relax? We’ve only been standing here for three minutes.” Comet said, who was Discord’s best stallion. Violet was the Maid of Honour. “But every pony is already here, shouldn’t we start now?!” Discord choked. “Discord, just remember. It all be over in a few minutes.” Rarity said. “Thanks…” he grumbled. “Quit your yapping, it’s starting!” Soarin hissed. Discord turned his tail back to normal and stood still. The bird choir started and the doors opened and the three fillies hopped down the aisle. “Why am I here?” Discord muttered. Comet lifted his chin and Discord gasped at what he saw. Her face was hidden behind the veil, but he was certain she was looking straight at him. “That’s why,” Violet whispered. The bride walked up to her future husbands side and the couple turned to Luna, who began to proceed with the ceremony. “Mares and Gentlecolts, we are gathered here today to celebrate the union between Fluttershy and Discord. Never in the history of Equestria has there ever been a love so powerful, so strong, yet it started from the most unlikely circumstances. I never thought that Discord would be capable of love, but a lot has happened in the past year. From enemies, to friends and now they wish to be together forever.” She then turned to Fluttershy. “Fluttershy, do you take this…um…draconequus to be your lawfully wedded husband, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?” “I do.” The blue alicorn turned to Discord. “And do you, Discord, take this mare to be your lawfully wedded wife, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?” “I do, forever and always.” he said, gazing into his bride’s eyes. “There you go Equestria, a real life Beauty and the Beast story. Now if any of you says that these two cannot be married, speak now or forever hold your piece.” There was silence all around the room. Luna continued. “In that case, may we have the rings?” Spike held up the pillow for Luna to grab the rings with her magic and hand them to the couple. Discord slipped the chain around Fluttershy’s neck, while she slipped his onto his middle talon. “By the power vested in me, I know pronounce you, husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride.” Discord didn’t waste a second and lifted her veil, tenderly pressing his lips to hers. The crowd burst into a state of applause. Fluttershy and Discord barely noticed. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The reception was held in the gardens, under the full moon. While cutting the cake Discord behaved himself while giving her a bite, but Fluttershy smeared frosting over his nose. He was about to get her back, when she surprised him by licking it off. When the banquet was served, Violet jumped up onto an empty table and clinked her glass. Everypony turned to her attention, ponies started chanting. "Speech! Speech! Speech!" Violet chuckled. "What do ya think I'm standing up here for; the weather?!" She looked at her wings. "Wait a second; I'm a pegasus, so shouldn't I be controlling the weather?!" Everypony laughed at her joke, Violet cleared her throat. "But in all seriousness, I have a few words to say to the bride and groom." She turned to look at Fluttershy. "Fluttershy, when I came crashing into your kitchen, you welcomed me into your home. You and your friends helped shape me into the mare I am now, and that's saying a lot. I'm glad you did what you did, because if you hadn't welcomed me into your home, you never would have found out that I am your cousin. I'm not a mare of many words, but I can just say this. Thank you Fluttershy, for everything and I wish you and Discord all the best for the future. Again, thank you." The crowd awed and Fluttershy started crying. Violet turned her attention to the draconequus sitting next to her. "Discord, you were my first friend when I came to Equestria. You came to me when you needed a shoulder to cry on, and I stood by your side as your best friend. I set you up with Fluttershy and I don't regret a thing, most ponies would frown in disgust but I'm different than most ponies, who are none the wiser." Violet glared at a certain unicorn stallion in the crowd. "I'm looking at you Blueblood!" The prince scowled but sat still when he saw Comet eying him as if he was a piece of meat making it clear that the incident at last years Gala hadn't been forgotten. "But enough of that; Discord you’re the one who turned me into the pony I am now, both you and Fluttershy helped me find my true self and where I belong." The ponies awed at the speech. "I wish you two all the best for the future and I think we can all hope to see some little chaotic babies in the future." Violet smirked as the crowd laughed. Discord and Fluttershy blushed from embarrassment. "But in all seriousness, I'm happy for the both of you; and one more thing Discord. Fluttershy is the only family I have left, so if you hurt her in anyway, you'll end up in a garbage bag at the bottom of a lake, are we clear?" said Violet, with an icy glare. Discord laughed. “We’re clear!” When the bride and groom had their first dance, Violet turned to her coltfriend. “Comet, I’m thinking we should spruce things up. With a song,” she winked at him. “Ah…gotcha.” They walked up to the DJ booth where Pinkie Pie and Vinyl Scratch were providing the music. Violet whispered in Pinkie’s ear to change the song. Pinkie instantly understood and shouted through the mic. “Let’s get this party started!” The music changed and Violet and Comet jumped down from the booth, holding microphones and started to sing. Violet: Love is in bloom, A beautiful bride, a handsome groom, Two heart’s becoming one, A bond that cannot be undone, Both: Because Love is in Bloom, A beautiful bride, a handsome groom, I said, love is in bloom, You’re starting a life and making room, For us, The guests all started to bop to the music. Discord began to spin Fluttershy around to the beat. Both: Love is in bloom, A beautiful bride, a handsome groom, Two heart’s becoming one, A bond that cannot be undone, Comet: Love is in bloom, A beautiful bride, a handsome groom, Two heart’s becoming one, Both: A bond that cannot be undone, Comet: Your special day, We celebrate now, Violet: The pony way! Both: Your friends are all right here, Won’t let these moments disappear, Because love is in bloom, A beautiful bride, a handsome groom, A said love is in bloom, You’re starting a life and making room, For us, By then, all the couples had joined the bride and groom on the dance floor. Both: Love is in bloom, A beautiful bride, a handsome groom, I said love is in bloom, You’re starting a life and making room, For us, Both: Love is in bloom, A beautiful bride, a handsome groom, I said love is in bloom, You’re starting a life and making room, For us, They trailed off as fireworks took off into the sky. Fluttershy and Discord pressed their foreheads together, gazing into each other’s eyes. The teenage couple high hooved each other and watched as Discord pressed his lips to Fluttershy’s. Violet nuzzled her own coltfriend. The song wasn’t lying, there really was love in bloom. When the carriage arrived to take the newly-weds on their honeymoon. Violet approached Discord. “Violet, none of this would have been possible if not for you. Thank you, Violet.” Fluttershy stepped up next to her new husband. “Yes thank you Violet. None of this would have been possible if you hadn’t helped. Love you Violet.” The three friends embrace each other. “I love you guys too.” “Actually, since we’re married, we need to have our own home, so we’re moving out to our own place,” Discord explained. “What? But…what about me?” Violet asked. “Don’t worry, we won’t be far. See, Celestia and Luna gave us their old castle, it was in ruins before, but Discord fixed the place up. It’s in the Everfree Forest, but we set up a pathway that will stop any wild beasts from attacking visitors.” Fluttershy explained. “As long as you stick to the pathway, no harm will come to you.” Discord said. “But…but what's gonna happen to me?” The married couple looked at each other. “Well, we don’t need the cottage anymore so,” Discord handed Violet a slip of paper. It was a real estate form, signed by them. Violet looked up at her new family. “You mean…” “That’s right Violet, the cottage is yours.” “I…I don’t know what to say?” “I also added some more rooms for you to put whatever you want in there.” Discord explained. The crowd awed at the scene. Violet couldn’t help it anymore and flung her arms around her family. “Thank you.” she whispered. They pulled away and Discord took Fluttershy’s hoof. “Shall we go my dear?” He lifted his bride into the carriage and sat down next to her. The carriage started and they rolled out of there when suddenly Fluttershy remembered something. “Oh wait, we need to see who the next brides going to be. She stuck her bouquet out the window and hollered. “Ready girls!” The Mane Five crowded around, Rarity jumped up yelling. “MINE! This time for sure!” However, the bouquet flew right above her head and the crowd parted to see that it had landed in the Maid of Honour’s hooves. Pinkie squealed. “Violet you caught it! That means your next down the aisle.” She then started to imitate a wedding march. Comet chuckled and walked up to her, wrapping his arm around her. “You would look beautiful in a wedding dress.” Violet blushed. “Let’s wait until I’m old enough.” she said, smiling watching the carriage drive off into the sunset.
