> Rainbow Rocks Adventures > by Script Singer > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > (1) Shine Like Rainbows > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The sirens rubbed their heads as their gems glow quickly fading away before them. They picked up the shattered pieces, hoping that they still worked. It only made them sing out of tune. With the magic now absent, everyone quickly started booing at them. Realizing their defeat, they ran off the stage and into the night. Sunset picked up a piece of the gem. "Guess that explains why these were so special to them." she said. "Without those pendants and the magic you brought here from Equestria, they're just three harmless teenage girls." Twilight said. "Rainbooms rule!" A voice cried out, she turned to face the direction of the voice, only to find Flash running up to her. When he reached her he quickly gave her a hug before giving her more praise. "That was amazing!" She blushed as he smiled at her. Her friends let out a few chuckles. Twilight stared into Flash's eyes. It wasn't long before Flash joined Twilight in her blush. Trixie moved in front of them. "You may have vanquished the Dazzlings, but you will never have the amazing, show-stopping ability of the Great and Powerful Trixie." she said before throwing a smoke bomb on the ground. As the smoke dissipated and the girls recovered from their coughing fit they looked around to attempt to find the culprit of their coughing. "She's GONE!" Pinkie exclaimed . "Oh wait. There she is." Trixie was climbing over the wall. Realizing she had been caught she went into a minor panic before gracefully falling off of the wall. "Trixie's... OK!" "You know..." Rainbow said. "Twilight is going back to Equestria soon. The Rainbooms could really use someone to help Fluttershy on back-up vocals." Sunset picked up a guitar and looked down at it, only a few seconds later she put the strap on and began playing it as if she had been playing guitar her entire life. "I also play guitar." she said with an innocent smile. Her audiences jaws had practically hit the floor at that point, slowly recovering, they turned to Dash. "Um... we'll see." At this, everyone gave Sunset a group hug. --- A couple of hours later, the girls found themselves standing beside the portal. "Sure wish you could stay longer." Apple Jack smiled. "Me, too, but I have responsibilities in Equestria that I have to get back to." Twilight responded with her own smile. "Its citizens need me, but now I can go through the portal whenever I need to. This isn't goodbye. It's just goodbye till next time. Ready Spike?” "Ready." Without delaying, Spike and Twilight began walking through the portal as everyone waved goodbye. Before she fully entered, Twilight looked at Sunset Shimmer and threw her a smile. --- "Dear Princess Twilight." Sunset wrote that night. "Missing you already, and hope you'll be back soon. Things are definitely looking up for me here at Canterlot High, but I know I still have a lot to learn about friendship. Hope you don't mind if I write to you for advice when I need it. Your friend, Sunset Shimmer." She closed the book with a smile. "You ready or what?" Rainbow Dash called out from the other side of the room. "Ready!" Pinkie Pie beat her drumsticks to start the beat. > (2) My Past Is Not Today > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- After they stopped playing, Sunset noticed her book glowing. Putting down her guitar, she walked over to the book to see what Twilight had wrote to her. "Dear Sunset Shimmer," it read. "I would love to hear from you! I'm glad that you are off to a good start at Canterlot High. I hope to come visit soon and I would love to write more, but I have to go stop spike from eating dog treats. Your friend, Twilight." Sunset rolled her eyes and smiled as she closed the book. She got up grabbing her bag as she put her guitar back in its case, her friends already following suite. Her friends started walking over, hoping to grab some milkshakes before they went home. "You coming, Sunset?" Rainbow asked. "Yeah, I'll catch up in a minute." she answered. Her friends continued walking. Sunset walked by herself, as she walked she looked up at the sunset. Thoughts quickly popped into her mind. Power was all that she had desired, but all that grew inside of her was a darkness that she couldn't handle. Her memories turned to the night of the Fall Formal, when Twilight gave her a second chance. She believed that ambition was to be the only way to set her free. When it disappeared, she felt alone, but her friends helped her get through it. She was grateful towards her friends that she no longer behaved in that way. As she came to that thought, an idea popped into her head. Smiling, she got out a piece of paper from her bag and began writing. --- Sunset walked up to her friends who were just leaving Sugar Cube Corner. They all carried their milkshakes and had bought one for Sunset in case she didn't make it. "Guys! Guess what?" she called to them as she arrived. "I just thought of a song for us to the play!" "Really?" Fluttershy asked. "I might need some help with it though. Fluttershy, would you mind giving me a hand with it?" "I would love to." --- The next day, they asked Principal Celestia if it was okay to play a song through the intercom during lunch that day. They were overjoyed with her answer. A few hours passed until, finally, their moment came around. The Rainbooms quickly got their stuff ready as they turned on the intercom. Sunset gave her friends a nod. The intro started. Most of the conversations from the lunch room stopped at the unusual music. Sunset took a deep breath. Power, Was all I desired. But all that grew inside me Was the darkness I acquired. This time, all people listened. When I began to fall, And I lost the path ahead. That's when your friendship found me, And it lifted me instead. Sunset sung her heart out. Like a phoenix burning bright, In the sky. I'll show there's another side to me, You can't deny. I may not know what the future holds, But hear me when I say, That my past does not define me, 'Cause my past is not today! The memory of Sunset's demon turned to shadow and faded. Ambition, Is what I believed, Would be the only way, To set me free. But when it disappeared, And I found myself alone, That's when you came and got me. And it felt like I was home. Her friends joined in with her on the chorus. Like a phoenix burning bright, In the sky! I'll show there's another side to me You can't deny! I may not know what the future holds, But hear me when I say, That my past does not define me, 'Cause my past is not today! Sunset could hear the muffled cheers from the lunchroom as she walked into the hallway. She let herself smile when she realized that most people might not be able to forgive her right away, and that was fine with her.
