Engagement
During the afternoon, the train from Ponyville was pulling into the Crystal Empire train station. Coming out of one of the cars was Starlight Glimmer who came to spend the night with Sunburst who invited her. For the last few months, they have actually been dating after spending so much time together for a few months after rekindling their friendship. She then made her way to his house and knocked on his door which opened up a few seconds later. "Starlight, I'm glad you could make it," Sunburst said happily.
"Of course, I had nothing else to do today," Starlight said while coming inside. The two unicorns then walked into the dining room for some tea and started discussing about their day. "So, how have things in the Crystal Empire been lately?" Starlight asked.
"Well, since Flurry Heart is now a few years older, Princess Cadence wanted me to help her study magic," Sunburst answered. "How about you?"
"Ever since Twilight made me her student, I've been making better progress than I thought I would. Still hard to believe it's been a few years, time really does fly by."
"Yeah, you're right." The two spent their afternoon just talking until Starlight asked Sunburst a question that has been on her mind since she was invited.
"Hey Sunburst, I'm glad you wanted me to spend the night with you, but exactly why did you want me to come over?"
"Actually, I'm glad you asked. There's been something that I've wanted to ask you for a few weeks now," Sunburst answered. "I'd like to start of by saying that I'm really grateful to have known you. You have been a wonderful friend and girlfriend Starlight."
"Where exactly are you going with this?" Starlight asked. Sunburst then used his magic to pull out a tiny box from his cape and opened it which revealed a tiny ring made out of rose gold with a white gem in the shape of a star. Realization then dawned on Starlight as she gasped, "Sunburst, are you really..."
Sunburst then kneeled down and asked her, "Starlight Glimmer, will you marry me?" Tears started to leak from Starlight's eyes as she was smiling.
"Yes, yes, of course I will!" she said excitedly and quickly hugged him. After they embraced each other, Sunburst placed the ring on Starlight's horn. "I can't believe we're actually engaged! When are we holding our wedding?"
"I was thinking maybe three to four months would be enough time for us to plan our wedding. It also gives us plenty of time to create the invitations."
"Great, you can invite your family and I can invite all of my friends. Let's get started next morning." The now engaged couple then cleaned up the table and went to sleep when Luna's moon graced the night sky.
The next day.
"So, why are we here again?" Rainbow Dash asked. She and the rest of her friends were all gathered at Twilight's castle, but were not told why.
"Starlight sent me a letter before she came back from the Crystal Empire saying she has exciting news. She didn't include it in the letter because she wants to surprise us," Twilight answered while holding the letter with her magic.
Pinkie Pie then excitedly bounced in her seat while exclaiming, "Ooh, I love surprises! I hope she gets here soon so she can tell us!"
"Oh, I'm sure that whatever she wants to tell us is really good news," Fluttershy said. After a few more minutes, the doors opened which revealed Starlight wearing a bandana over her horn on the other side.
"Great to see all of you here, I've been waiting since yesterday to tell you," Starlight said while walking in the room.
"Darling, after hearing what was on your letter, we couldn't wait to hear what you wanted to tell us," Rarity said.
"But first, what's the bandana for?" Applejack asked.
"Well, you know how Sunburst and I have been going out for the past few months?" Starlight asked. Everyone nodded. "Let's just say he thought it was finally time for the next stage of a relationship." Everyone almost instantly realized what she meant.
"Wait, you mean that you're...?" Twilight asked unable to finish her question. Starlight then removed her bandana from her head and revealed the ring on her horn.
"We're engaged!" Starlight announced gleefully. Everyone in the room became happy for Starlight and came over to hug her.
"Congratulations, Starlight!" Twilight said happily.
"That's awesome!" Rainbow Dash said.
"This was a great surprise!" Pinkie exclaimed.
"We're so happy for you," Flutershy said.
"You're going to make a great married couple, sugarcube," Applejack said.
"Words cannot express how glad we are for you," Rarity said.
"Thanks everypony, we were planning on holding the wedding in a few months and we'd like all of you to help us get ready."
"Pinkie and I can make all the food," Applejack offered.
"I'm going to make the bestest wedding cake you'll ever see!" Pinkie said happily.
"I would be more than happy to create a lovely and elegant wedding gown and a delightfully dapper tuxedo for Sunburst," Rarity offered.
"I can make the invitations if you want," Fluttershy said.
"Leave delivering them to me," Rainbow Dash said.
"Great and I was hoping you would initiate," Starlight said looking at Twilight.
"Oh my gosh, of course. I'd be honored to initiate for your wedding," Twilight said gleefully. The seven ponies then started to prepare for the wedding, anxiously awaiting Starlight and Sunburst's big day.
