Simple Solution

Simple Solutions are typically the best.

Sometimes the best solutions are the simple ones, Bob Hudson knows that very well.

But when he ends up in Equestria his life is anything but. Forced to stay (though not really missing his home life) he tries to make the best of the cards he's dealt.

First step? Help those kind enough to help him.

So ya, I finally wrote enough of something to post it, lets see where it goes from here eh?

I'm a simple man.

Give me a problem, I try to solve it. Typically that involves some good ole' determination and a lot of hard work to get it fixed. However, since I've come to Equestria it's been anything but simple.

Let me start from the beginning, my arrival here wasn't really that complex in my perspective (unlike what some seem to think). After a long night of working hard at the factory I finally got home and let myself fall asleep for a short nap and found myself being woke up to a bunch of multi-coloured ponies.

Ya you heard right, multi-coloured ponies.

A bit shorter than the ones I'm familiar with from the farm my Pa owned when I was little (when he died mum couldn't take after the farm and I)

However I'm getting off topic, simply put after a minor misunderstanding we ended up finding out we somehow spoke the same language and I was brought over to some Twilight Sparkle by an orange pony named Applejack. I like that darn pony, helped corral the crowd (there was this one pony that kept running around screaming) and she seems to have the same sensibilities as me.

A simple mare just like this simple man.

However when we got there I found not all ponies are as easy to get used to as Applejack (or as easy to get used to as multi-coloured ponies are). One would think I would've been more surprised to see a unicorn, but Applejack was willing to answer my idle curiosities on the walk over to the Golden Oak Library, where she told me beforehand about the various Ponies around their small village, a simple place called Ponyville. There were supposedly also some form of flying pony called Pegasus, which she pointed out lounging in the clouds.

That's when I met this Twilight Sparkle. She's an odd one, that pony is, got a smart head on her shoulders that's for sure. But she spends too much time using it to think about the things that just make life to complex. Before I even got a word in she tried to get me to answer a rather exhausting amount of questions.

The only reason we didn't spend longer on it was because Applejack was there to keep Twilight from going overboard. She kept her to the point that I was worried about, would I be able to go home? I wasn't really all that attached to my life at home, a long exhausting minimum wage job at the factory had the only benefit of keeping me in shape and after Ma died none of the family wanted much to with me, which was fine with me. Didn't mind the loneliness, just got boring with time.

However home is still home and even though the ponies here seemed like a mighty fine bunch, I didn't think I would fit in much here. Sadly it seemed luck wasn't on my side, whatever magic dropped me here was a one way trip. Twilight tried to give me some explanation of some sort but it went right over my head, so I just to took it as it was.

My Ma taught me that stressing things you couldn't control just added an unnecessary pressure to life.

So after that reveal we just kinda sat in silence for awhile, which was mighty fine to me. Gave me time to think about what I needed to do, kinda like when Pa died. I just needed some time to think to help myself, didn't really need that fancy funeral just to say goodbye. Both the ponies in the room gave me odd guilty looking expressions. I knew why they were giving me it, they felt responsible for my extended vacation, but I didn't really understand why they felt responsible ‘cause it wasn't really their fault so they had no reason to feel guilty.

However, our silence wouldn't last as a strange lizard came into the library causing Twilight to want to really over complicate things.

She seemed to get the idea that getting their ruler, some Princess Celestia, should get involved to help get me home. I tried to explain to her that it wasn't really worth wasting their time for little ole' me but she had it set in her head. Before I could argue any further she already had her little friend Spike write her up a letter and burn it with some fire breath that he has. She tried to explain it after I asked about how him burning it really helped but I was fine with just understanding it was magic, I admit I was a bit skeptical but seeing Twilight use magic before did give me some pause to arguing.

After that the oddest thing happened. You see, I expected the return letter to come in a similar way it left, what I wasn't expecting was the little guy suddenly belching and have the letter appear in a burst of fire. I didn't really worry much though cause it seemed the letter came in fine, and I could tell it was a different seal so it seemed to be a response.

I won't really say the response as it was filled with flowery language and the like, so to put it simply she wanted to meet me to help me with this predicament and would be arriving tonight. That for Twilight seemed to open up a whole new can of worms. Started running around like mad and bringing all these checklists out to prepare for the coming of the Princess, all the while complaining bout the short notice.

It took awhile but eventually Spike and Applejack were able to calm her down enough so she wasn't trying to get everything to perfect. Didn't mean we didn't clean though, they tried to get me not to help, stating my day was stressful enough as it was. But it ain't right for them to do all the work when it was me that caused the problem so there was no telling me no about it.

Luckily Applejack noticed my stance right quick and got Twilight to back down.

That's how I found my first afternoon in Equestria going, meeting with a bunch of nice folk (though they were pony folk) and cleaning to prepare for their ruler.

I have to say that was already to much for me and there was loads more coming for me, I just didn't know it yet.
