> Return of the Dazzlings > by Pentrath > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Revenge > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It had been several weeks since the defeat of the Dazzlings and things seemed like they were returning to normal for the students of Canterlot High until a mysterious user on the social media site “My Stable” under the alias of “Anon-A-Miss" had once again turned student against student. The account was responsible for leaking embarrassing photos and secrets of not only the Rainbooms, but the entire school as well. Many had accused Sunset Shimmer of being the one behind the account and had now shunned her, believing she had returned to her former ways. “Please, allow me to prove my innocence”, Sunset cried as she stood facing her former friends in the main room of SugarCube Corner. “No, we know it was you Sunset, this whole ordeal has your name written all over it”. Rainbow spat. “YEAH” everyone else cried. “B..but if you give me a chance I can prove I'm inn-” Sunset had not gotten to finish her sentence before Rainbow smacked the journal she had, displaying proof, out of her hands, which fell to the floor with a thud. “I don’t want to hear it”, Rainbow Spat. “Get out of here before I make you”. Tears began to well up in Sunset’s eyes as she bent down to pick her journal up, before fleeing from the diner. “And good riddance”, Applejack yelled. However, Sunset was already out of hearing distance. She ran for what felt like hours down the dark lonely streets, tears in her eyes as she looked for somewhere to get out of the cold. Unknown to her former friends, Sunset did not have anywhere to stay… She had been scratching a living… by working as a waitress at a nearby diner, but the wage she received was not enough to buy an apartment, so she had been living in the school's library ever since coming through the portal. It was a miracle that none of the staff or students knew anything about her situation either…Though, she did often suspect that Principle Celestia had known, as there was a time she offered to let Sunset stay with her… but Sunset turned her down not wanting to be a bother, and because at the time, she was still the defiant bitch the school had to know her as. As she travelled further down the road, she came to a broken down house, in a small alleyway just down the road from the school. Seeing no better alternative (and the fact that she did not want to return to the school) she headed toward the old house and climbed through a window which had fallen out of its frame. Unbeknownst to her, however, just up the road at Canterlot High, 3 mysterious teens were standing outside the school with an eerie green fog surrounding them. ….................................................... It had been a few weeks since the Dazzlings had lost to the Rainbooms. Ever since then, they had barely been getting by. They had been able to glue back together their pendants but it was barely strong enough to absorb even the smallest amount of negative energy… It would take a lot more than they were currently getting to be able to repair them fully. They were starving to death and they knew it. “This sucks Adagio” Aria said with annoyance. “Yeah I am soooooo hungry” Sonata cried. “Will you two stop complaining, I know you are hungry, so am I but bitching about it isn’t going to fix anything” Adagio yelled. “Then what do you think we should do, oh wise know-it-all leader of ours?” Aria asked sarcastically. Adagio grit her teeth before placing her fingers on the bridge of her nose and pinching it to relieve the stress and anger. She paced around the dilapidated house they were forced to live in. She thought and thought but nothing was coming to her… Without their pendants at full strength they could not achieve their true forms, let alone enchant people with their song to stir up negative energy. Angrily, she stormed outside and sat down on the porch. She sat in silence trying to think of what they could do. If the others weren't going to do anything, she damn well was. Just then, she was jolted out of her thoughts as she heard voices coming from down the street. Thinking fast, she hid in a nearby bush to keep herself from being seen. The last thing she wanted was to let anyone know where she was and get both her, and her sisters kicked out of the only home they had. Peeking through the bush, she saw two Canterlot High students walking toward the school. One was a boy and the other was a girl. The boy had on a white T-shirt with a purple heart-shaped balloon on it with a red star in the center of the balloon. He also had a blue and purple overcoat on, with purple gloves sporting a yellow dot in the center. He wore blue jeans and cyan colored sneakers. He had a purple bowtie around his neck and seemed to have some form of satchel around his chest that also bore the same heart-shaped balloon as the one on his shirt. The satchel was filled to the brim with what appeared to be party supplies. Looking at his features he had white skin with dark blue eyes and purple and blue frizzy hair, similar to Pinkie’s, but spikier. He looked extremely goofy, compared to the girl that was with him. She had a more elegant look to her. She had orange skin with teal blue eyes, and midnight blue colored hair with streaks of green running through it. Her hair was braided in a bulge with a small purple bow with a portion of it slightly leaning over her right eye. She had three white freckles on either cheek and bore purple lipstick on her lips. She wore an elegant teal blue dress with glitter all around it, with a purple cape draped around her back that had a bunch of tiny stars lining it with glitter to make it shine. She had on purple leggings with blue and orange stars all around and wore a purple slightly clear skirt that bore a large teal blue star with a smaller orange star in the center with two smaller dark blue stars on either side of the large star. As they neared, Adagio could hear more clearly what they were saying and why they had such mean looks on their faces. “Man, I tell ya, Glamorous, the nerve of that meany Sunset, posting those secrets and lies about me. I’m not childish and my tricks are super funny!” The boy exclaimed to his sister. “I agree, Chuckles dear, she has gone too far with this whole “Anon-A-Miss” ordeal. To utter such brash lies about my fashion choices.” She said to her older brother. “I normally want to bring laughs to others but I don’t feel Sunset deserves it” Chuckles stated angrily as he and his sister got closer to the school. By now the two teens had moved too far away for Adagio to hear any more, but what she had managed to hear brought a devilish grin to her face. She had an idea, and this Anon-A-Miss was going to help her achieve it… She immediately ran back inside to explain her plan to the others. ……………………………………………………… A few hours had passed and it was getting dark out, as the 3 sirens made their way toward their former school. Just outside the darkened school grounds, the sirens could see the largest cloud of negative emotions they had ever seen, Sunset Shimmer had riled up the school far better than they ever could. They would personally have to give her their thanks the next time they saw her, despite the fact that they didn’t actually even buy into the story that it was her in the first place… she had become too much of a goody two shoes to go down that road. As they grew nearer to the green fog, their pendants began to glow and absorb the negative energy. The sirens sighed with glee as their power and energy was restored to them. The more energy they absorbed, the stronger the pendants became before… Surprisingly, all 3 of their pendants suddenly let out a bright glow as the visible cracks on the pendants began to mend and disappear, making them whole once again. Excited about this, they tested their newly reformed pendants to see if they worked by trying to sing… Sure enough, they began to sing their enchanted song for the first time since their pendants broke. Once finished, they bared evil grins on their faces as they feasted on the meal that was so graciously given to them as their plan for revenge against the Rainbooms and Canterlot High could finally begin. ………………………………………………………….. It was late by the time the Rainbooms had finished at SugarCube Corner and had driven their former friend away. They had decided to get some practice in for their band, so they headed toward the school where they kept their equipment, though they would probably have to find a backup guitar player to replace Sunset. Just thinking of her name, riled them up. They had trusted her and she betrayed them. Putting her out of their minds, they made their way to the school and headed toward the auditorium. A few minutes passed, and they had changed into the same outfits they wore back when they had defeated the Dazzlings, and had their instruments set up and ready to play. Before starting however, they had to clear their minds from what had transpired a couple of hours ago. “Man can y’all believe the nerve of that girl, coming in and lying to our faces. Ah was thinking of forgiving her, if she had just come forth and told the truth” AJ fumed. “I know what you mean darling, Sunset acts like we all forgot her past deeds and would assume we would not find out. But then to sit back and claim she did not do it, when I know for certain that I have not given my secrets to anyone but my dearest friends… and I don’t have any reason to believe it was any of you” Rarity stated with a humpf. “Yeah,” Pinkie said, her hair deflated. “I thought she was our friend but she turned out to be a big meany instead,”Pinkie said sadly. “Oh, I want nothing more than to walk up to her and kick her ass, but I am better than that” Rainbow seethed. As her friends sat there saying awful things about her friend, Fluttershy sat there quietly. True she had been hurt by the “Anon-A-Miss” posts just like everyone else, but a part of her felt that Sunset was telling the truth… Fluttershy remembered how Sunset used to act, and how she used to bully her, but over that past year, Sunset had really proven she had changed, she went from such a horrible person to a kind, loving friend… Heck, had you shown Fluttershy’s past self, the Sunset Shimmer of today, she would likely believe she was an entirely different person. A part of her wanted to believe she was innocent… but the evidence pointed to the exact opposite… Fluttershy had not dared to believe that any of the others were doing it… The mere thought of that was even more unbelievable than Sunset’s attitude change from “Canterlot High's Bad Girl” to the loving caring friend she is now. Fluttershy was so conflicted on what to think, that she had not realized her friends had stopped talking and were now trying to get her attention. “Earth to Fluttershy, is anyone there?” Rainbow waved her hand in front of her. “Eep” Fluttershy cried as she realized Rainbow was talking to her. “Is everything a’h right there sugarcube?” AppleJack asked with a hint of worry. “O..oh um, y..yes, yes everything is fine” Fluttershy had finally shrieked out. “Are you sure? Because you have been awfully quiet, and you haven’t even given your opinion on the matter yet…” Rainbow stated nonchalantly. “Oh, m..my my thoughts are…..” Fluttershy paused, she did not know if she could truthfully answer this. “I..I have b..been thinking and a...are we s..sure Sunset did it?” Fluttershy practically whispered. “WHAT?!!” Everyone else cried, much to Fluttershy’s dismay. “How can you sit there and say that?” Rainbow yelled. “I agree with Rainbow dear. Have you forgotten what she did in the past, this sounds a lot like something she would do.” Rarity said. “I...it’s j...just, um after seeing how much Sunset changed over the past y...year, I just find it hard to believe she would do such a thing…” Fluttershy said defensively. “Look sugarcube a’h understand you want to find good in everyone, but no one else could have done this. These secrets Anon-A-Miss revealed are secrets that only my family and you 5 would know. Sunset’s the only one out of us that would have the means to pull this off.” Applejack said. “Yeah, and have you stopped and thought that maybe she was tricking us this whole time, making us believe she had changed, when really she just wanted to learn our secrets to use against us?? Heck, I wouldn’t be surprised if the only reason she helped us stop the Dazzlings was so she could get rid of any competition.” Rainbow Dash stated with confidence. “Oh umm...maybe you’re right, this time ” Fluttershy said with her head down. “Maybe?? I know I am right.” Rainbow bragged. Fluttershy had to admit they made some good points… Sunset Shimmer was the only other one in their group other than family that knew their secrets… and with the kind of past she had, it would make sense how others could suspect her. Could she really have been lying to them this whole time, just to get their secrets? Fluttershy did not know what to believe anymore, she wanted to believe that Sunset was innocent, but the evidence said otherwise. Though, despite all of this, a part of her refused to believe Sunset had been lying. She so desperately wanted to prove that she was innocent, she just did not have the evidence to do so. ……………………………………… An hour had passed since they had their discussion, and they were well into their practice when Fluttershy thought she heard something out of the corner of her ear. She stopped shaking her tambourines and listened more carefully. Sure enough, she heard it, this time, it was clearer… It sounded like someone was singing. Curious she got the attention of everyone else. “Um girls, d...do y...you hear that?” Fluttershy asked. The others put down their instruments and stopped to listen for themselves. Sure enough, without the presence of their music, the sound was much clearer now, there was no denying it, someone was singing just outside the school. “What in tarnation is that?” AJ asked. “I don’t know” Rainbow stated, “But whatever it is, we should go check it out”. “Are you sure that’s a good idea darling?” Rarity asked a little nervously. “Yeah what if it’s some big scary monster, just waiting to lure us outside with its song and then eat us!” Pinkie cried, shaking Rainbow Dash vigorously. Upon hearing the word monster, Fluttershy nearly fainted but was luckily caught by Rarity. The others just gave Pinkie a stern look while she was biting her nails. Helping Fluttershy back to her feet, they decided to go investigate, however before they did so, the music stopped. “The music just stopped,.” Rainbow said in surprise. “G...good does that m...mean we can go home now?” A scared Fluttershy asked. “Go home?!! No way! we need to go check it out, and we need to hurry. Whatever is there might be about to leave,” Rainbow said as she sprinted toward the door of the auditorium opening it and running outside. With a sigh, the others quickly followed her, even a reluctant Fluttershy. ……………………………………… The Dazzlings were filled with negative energy at this point, and they could even swear there were hints of Equestrian magic in there as well. As they continued feeding from the negative energy, Adagio heard what sounded like footsteps and talking getting closer to the entrance of the school. Fearing that someone would see them and blow their cover before they could get enough energy, they decided they had drained enough for now and made a run for it. “Someone is coming, let's book it before we get caught, ” Adagio said annoyed. The others agreed and they all began to run, exiting the school grounds and heading off toward the old abandoned house just down the street. They had just made it away before they could hear the faint yells of “Is anyone there?” They had made it back to the pathetic shack they called home. They would not have to worry about it for long though… Soon they would be able to have all the riches and fame they could desire… they just need a little more energy, they thought to themselves as they entered the home, unaware of the guest that also took residence there. ……………………………………… Things were not going well for Sunset… her friends would not listen to her and even worse, they refused to see evidence she obtained about the identity of “Anon-A-Miss”. She had put the pieces together, and had come to the conclusion that the CMC were the ones involved… She had suspected them when she noticed how jealous they seemed to act when she was around. Sunset was no stranger to jealousy, it was a big driving point for her old ambitions, ambitions she hoped she can forget and leave in the past. Sunset had taken residence is a small house that looked as if it was on the verge of collapsing. She wasn’t picky though… It was better than having to sleep in the cold, and thankfully the house had been left with some furniture as well as some candles that she lit up to illuminate the darkened home. Grabbing one of the candles, she sat on the bed, pulling her boots off and curling up on the bed. She laid back on the bed and looked at the roof. Many emotions were going through her mind right now, but she was too emotionally exhausted to pay them any heed right now. Sighing she pulled her journal out of her jacket pocket before pulling her jacket off the use as a blanket. “Dear Princess Twilight” “Things did not go as I imagined, they all blew me off without even giving me a chance to explain. I just don’t know what to do anymore, I am… scared. “What if this “Anon-A-Miss” ordeal never blows over?” “What if they never believe me?” “I..I don’t want to be alone again…” Sunset finished writing her message, as tears began to fall from her eyes and onto the pages. Sunset closed the book and patiently waited for a reply, with streams of tears flowing down her cheeks. After a few minutes, the book began to let off a dim light as it started buzzing. “Dear Sunset” “This does sound serious, if you want, I could come over and talk with them… maybe with a different perspective they can come to see you can’t be “Anon-A-Miss”.Sunset read the passage to herself before replying. “No, Twilight, I could not ask you to do that, you are likely very busy with your princess duties, to come and deal with a little friendship squabble. I’ll try giving it time, hopefully, when the “Anon-A-Miss” debacle blows over, they may calm down enough to reason.” Sunset closed the journal and patiently awaited her reply. After another few minutes, the book began buzzing once more. “Are you sure?” I mean, I don’t have anything, in particular, happening at the moment… I could swing over there tomorrow and have a little discussion with everyone. After reading the reply she began writing her own. “Yes, I am sure Twilight, after everything you have done for me already, I could not impose this burden onto you. Besides, something tells me that with the mood they are in, they likely would not listen to you either, and would probably think I brainwashed you or something. All I can do is give it time and hope things get better. Also it’s rather late, I am going to call it a night anyway.” Sunset finished writing her reply and was waiting to read Twilight’s before going to bed. “Well if you are sure, then I will leave it to you. However, I do hope you will update me on everything once it gets resolved”. “Also goodnight Sunset.” “I will. Thanks for talking with me Twilight, it feels good to still have someone who will listen”. “And goodnight to you too Twilight”. Sunset replied. “It was no problem, I will always be here if you ever need an ear to listen,” Twilight replied. Sunset could not help but smile despite the tears, as she closed the book and went to place it under her bed. She also placed a box that had been given to her by Rarity before this fiasco happened. It was an early Christmas gift, though she had no intention of opening it. She let out a sad sigh as she blew the candle flame out and curled up into a ball, using her jacket as a blanket to keep warm. An hour passed and Sunset was in a deep sleep when the front door of the house opened up and 3 silhouettes walked through. The Sirens had not been happy about being chased away from their meal, but were satisfied they had gotten enough as Aria sat down on the old worn couch and Sonata left to go to the other room. Adagio, just leaned against the wall trying to think how they should go from there. As Sonata walked down the hall, she began to smell some faint signs of smoke coming from a nearby room. Curious, she headed toward the room and peeked her head inside. She gasped at what she saw; lying there on the bed was none other than Sunset Shimmer fast asleep. Sonata immediately made her way back to the living room as fast and quietly as possible before silently whispering to her sisters. “Guys, you need to come see this, this is very important!” Sonata whispered. “Arg, what is it Sonata” Aria asked annoyed. “We have a guest asleep in the other room”. Sonata whispered. This caught the attention of her sisters who immediately headed down the hall toward the room in question. Sure enough, they saw the sleeping form of Sunset Shimmer lying in the bed. Upon seeing this, Aria and Sonata were about to attack when Adagio pulled her arms out to stop her sisters. With an evil grin on her face, she began to whisper a plan in her sister's ears. With big grins on both of their faces, they both left to gather the items Adagio requested. A few moments later the two returned with the requested items. Aria handed Adagio a cloth and some rubbing alcohol. Adagio poured some of the alcohol onto the cloth and began to walk toward Sunset. Sunset suddenly shot awake as a hand and cloth wrapped around her mouth and nose. Panicking, she frantically struggled to get free, but failed as two other sets of hands grabbed her and held her down. Sunset’s vision began to go black as she slowly lost consciousness. Satisfied that she was out cold, the 3 sirens dragged her body down to a basement where they tied her hands to an exposed pipe. The 3 waited for what felt like an hour until Sunset finally started to wake up. Her body began to stir and jerk as her eyes slowly open, revealing the captors that kidnapped her. She looked up with wide eyes as she recognized the 3 that had tied her up. “Good morning sleepyhead, did you have a nice rest” Adagio mocked with a big grin. “What...what are you 3 doing here?...” Sunset asked, with anger in her voice. “We live here”Aria spat. “We should be asking you the same question” “I thought this place was abandoned...wait, why am I here and why am I tied up?” Sunset asked in a panic. “You're our prisoner, isn’t it obvious”? Adagio mocked. “Like hell I am, my friends will notice I am gone and will come find me!” Sunset shouted. This prompted the 3 sirens to laugh (much to Sunset dismay) and begin to walk closer to their prisoner. “That’s a good one, Sunset.” Aria said, “We know you are “Anon-A-Miss” and we also know your little friends don’t care about you anymore, no one is coming for you” “Y..you don’t know that, they wouldn't leave me… would they?” That last part Sunset whispered. “Give it a rest. The only people who know you are here are me and my sisters.” Adagio said, her grin getting even bigger. “You can’t keep me here forever, I will find a way to escape, and when I do, I will warn everyone. We defeated you once, we can do it again.” Sunset said defiantly. “Oh really?...” Adagio smirked as she pulled out her pendant to show Sunset. “Sunset eyes went wide.” “H...how, b...but we destroyed them!” Sunset cried in shock. “Oh you did, but with all the negative energy generated from this “Anon-A-Miss’’ debacle, we were able to soak up enough to repair them” All 3 sirens smirked at this. Before Sunset could reply, the pendants began to glow as well as the 3 sirens. Suddenly their bodies began to glow as pony ears and bat wings sprouted from their figures. Once they had powered up their eyes turned red as 3 large projections appeared out of their pendants. Floating before Sunset was 3 large pony like creatures, they had the heads and hooves of a pony, with the body of a seahorse and the tail of a fish. Each bearing the respective color of the 3 girls. The 3 siren projections floated closer to Sunset, bearing their teeth causing Sunset to turn away in fear. “As you can see, we are more than prepared to ensure you can’t escape and ruin our plans” Adagio stated as her projection inched closer to Sunset. “We can’t risk you and your annoying friends summoning that Rainbow Alicorn again. “W...what are you going to do with me,” Sunset asked worryingly still not looking at the siren. Smirking, Adagio’s human half walked up to Sunset and placed a hand under her chin and forced her to look into her demon red eyes. “Don’t be afraid Sunset, we have no intentions of killing you… It would not be fun, and we would not be able to make you suffer like we have.” Adagio stated with a tinge of anger. “S...suffer h...how?” Sunset asked with Adagio still holding her chin. “You see, Sunset, we are not like humans or ponies… Regular food cannot sustain us. We feed off of negative energy. So when you and your friends shattered our pendants, we had to endure weeks of never ending hunger. The few scraps of food we could find or steal wasn’t enough to sustain us and we were slowly starving to death.” If it was not for this “Anon-A-Miss’’ event we would likely be dead now.” Adagio said, now glaring at a still frightened Sunset. “W...we d-...did not know… if you had just come to us, we could have…” that was all that Sunset could say before Adagio began to laugh. “Come to you and your friends, and grovel for your pity? Never, we would rather die. but since we aren’t, we are going to enjoy every minute you sit down here and waste away like we had too.” Adagio stated with a grin. “Oh but don’t be to down on yourself” Adagio continued, letting go of Sunset’s chin. “Once we have taken over this pitiful excuse of a planet and had a castle erected in our honor, we may decide to keep you as a pet, as long as you are a good little prisoner.” Adagio said stand up and joining the others. Sunset said nothing as tears streamed down her face. Seeing as they had gotten their point across, the 3 sirens headed back upstairs and out of the basement, promptly locking the door. Sunset was left alone, in the darkened basement with the only source of light coming from a partly boarded window. Sunset sat on the cold hard ground and wept.
