> Equestria Girls: The Spectrum War > by Time Agent pony > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Chapter 1 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Run little man." A disembodied voice mocked, as Ganthet, one of the guardians of the universe, ran for his life across the barren, lifeless surface of the living planet Mogo, who was a green lantern. Green lanterns came in all shapes, sizes and species ranging from humans, animals, aliens and planets. Ganthet was followed by some different coloured rings, each representing a different aspect of the Emotional Spectrum: Pink for love, Blue for hope, Orange for greed, indigo for compassion, Red for rage, Yellow for fear and a Green for willpower. "Your rings follow you like obedient servants," the voice continued, "but they cannot save you, old man." In his hurry to escape the voice, Ganthet lost his footing and collapsed, "Mogo the last green lantern is dead, you stand upon a dead world," the voice carried on, "a fitting location for your demise, don't you think?" The rings now circled around Ganthet, "your fellow guardians of the universe are nothing but ashes blowing across the cosmos," the voice spoke again, it sounded like death itself. "I will give you one chance guardian," the voice continued, "give me the last of the rings. Watch me extinguish their light forever. And then you will die..." Ganthet pulled himself up, "You think you've won?" he asked. "I do, I have," the voice replied. Ganthet summoned up all his strength, the rings began to glow with energy, "This day? Perhaps," he responded, "but not forever. I am going somewhere you cannot follow." Ganthet himself now started to glow with energy, "I go to preserve life in all its forms. that is my victory." "No! Impossible!" the voice thundered in anger. "And you will never find me," were Ganthet's last words as he disappeared. Another time, another place, another universe Twilight Sparkle looked out window of the school bus as she, her friends and rest of her class neared their destination. "Isn't this exciting?" asked Pinkie Pie "are you excited, 'cause I'm excited, I've never been so excited!" "Yeah," Rainbow Dash groaned, "If you call going to a museum exciting." "What could be better then learning about history?" Twilight asked. "Everything," Rainbow Dash replied. "Well, I for one would like see what fashion looked like back in the day," added Rarity. "Yeah, learning about history can be fun," agreed Sunset Shimmer. Fluttershy, Applejack and Twilight's dog Spike nodded in agreement, at last the bus arrived at the museum. Everyone got off the school bus and followed Principal Celestia and Vice Principal Luna into the museum and split into two groups. One half of the class going off with Principal Celestia, the girls and others went with Vice Principal Luna. After walking through hallways filled with cases containing objects from the past, the group came to an exhibition that had opened fairly recently. "The Justice Society of America exhibit?" Twilight wondered, reading the name above it. The exhibition, like the other exhibits in the museum, was filled with glass cases only these were filled strange objects and outfits. "Dedicated to the brave men and women who fought for a better future," read the introduction to the exhibit. "So these guys were like superheroes or something" Rainbow Dash said, looking at an old golden helmet. "The Justice Society were more than heroes, you whippersnappers," replied a voice, which belonged to an old man. "Who are you?" asked Twilight, looking up from a old tin helmet. "I'm the curator of this exhibition, name's Alan Scott," the old man answered, "I used to be member of the Justice Society back in the day." "You were a member of the Justice Society?" Sunset asked. Alan pointed at a costume and an old ring in a display case, "I wore that when I was on active duty back then" "Well, I must say that costume is jarring mess," Rarity said, "didn't you have coherent colour scheme in mind when you designed this?" Alan smiled, "I got that... a lot." "The Justice Society sound a lot like the Power Ponies from my comic books" commented Rainbow Dash. "I guess you could say that," Alan acknowledged. "Me and my sister used to read stories about the Justice Society," added Luna, "like how they defeated the villain Per Degaton along with his forces and saved the world." "I remember that," Alan nodded, "we made the front page on every paper." "What happened to Justice Society?" Applejack asked, "They must have been on active duty when I was a young'un, how came I never heard about them?" Alan's eye grow misty, "After a shady encounter with a dangerous villain we were called to appear in a count of law for what we had done. There was only one rule we couldn't agree to." "What rule was that?" Twilight asked. "We had to unmask ourselves to the world," Alan replied, "none of us could agree to that, so we disbanded, gave up the whole hero shebang and went our separate ways." "So you all gave up, just like that?" asked Rainbow Dash, "you were superheroes, you inspired everyone to be heroes," "It was ether put those we held dear in danger or go into hiding and disband," Alan replied, "now all these old relics gather dust here and thus the JSA have since faded from the world's memory." "That's really sad," Fluttershy said, trying to comfort Alan a little. "That's alright" Alan smiled at Fluttershy, "I took off the ring, I became a family man and I moved on." "You have kids?" asked Sunset. "Yeah, Jade and Obsidian," Alan replied, "you should come and meet them sometime." "We should continue on with the tour," Luna apologised, "Celestia will be wondering where we have got to." "Oh, well there's always next time," Twilight said. "Come by anytime," Alan said, with a wave as the group left the exhibition. The group met up with other half of the class and walked back to the bus. After School, the girls all walked home from school. "Can you believe that the JSA quit just like that?" asked Rainbow Dash. "They had to make a tough decision, Rainbow," replied Twilight, "Imagine if when we got our powers, we had to hide our faces from everyone." "It would be kinda depressing always living in secret," agreed Sunset. "But they were heroes," Rainbow Dash insisted, "they filled people with hope and they threw it all away." "I think that was the right decision to make," Fluttershy said, "they could have been hurt or even seriously injured." "But still...." argued Rainbow Dash. Before Rainbow Dash could say another word, a flaming ball of light flow over head and landed in the next street. "What was that?" Twilight asked. "I don't know, but I think we should check it out," replied Sunset. The girls dashed into the street where the thing had landed. A small crater marked the location of the object, it was still glowing as it was still hot. "What is it?" Rarity asked, shielding her eyes from the light and heat. The glowing was slowly subsiding and heat dissipating. Twilight cautiously approached the crater, "Twilight, be careful," Sunset called. "What do you see?" Rainbow Dash asked. "It looks like..." Twilight said, as she got closer, the glow finally disappearing, "rings?" "Rings?" Sunset asked. "That's all that's here," Twilight replied, picking one of the rings up to show everyone. Unbeknown to the girl a small flicker of light appeared for a moment inside the ring that Twilight was holding, before disappearing again. > Chapter 2 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Next day at CHS. "Me and Sunset have been looking over the symbols on the rings we found last night," Twilight said, as she and the others sat in the cafeteria. "And they don't match anything in any history book in the school's liberty," Sunset finished. "So those rings came from outer space," Rainbow Dash suggested. "Lets not jump to conclusions yet, Rainbow," Twilight sceptically replied. "They fell out of the sky, what more proof do you need?" Rainbow Dash asked. "Regardless, they do make fabulous accessories," interrupted Rarity, slipping the indigo ring onto her finger and looking at it. "They could be part of some secret government project," Sunset answered. "I have another test we could try," added Twilight, "After school I'm going to give the rings a controlled electric shock and see if that has any effect on them." "I'll help you with that," nodded Sunset, the others all nodded too. Twilight's house, after school. The others all met at Twilight's miniature lab in her garage, "OK, everything's ready," Sunset nodded, once everything was set for the test. "Stand back. I don't know what will happen," Twilight said, she and the others put on eye protection. Without wasting another minute Twilight signalled to Sunset and she activated the electrical charge. As the electrical charge got stronger the rings began to shine brightly. "Ooo, pretty," Pinkie said, totally in awe. "Hmm," Twilight said, looking closely at the rings, "it looks as though we've successfully turn them on, whatever they are, let's shut off the electricity." Sunset turned off the electricity, the rings kept glowing brighter, "I said turn it off!" Twilight cried. "I did!" Sunset cried back. Suddenly the rings released a huge surged energy blasting the girls back. The green, blue, indigo and pink rings rocketed towards four of the girls, while the yellow, red and orange rings rocketed into the sky and out of sight. 'Applejack of Earth' a voice that seemed to come from one of the rings spoke, 'you have the ability to overcome great fear, welcome to the Green Lantern Corps.' 'Rainbow Dash of Earth, you have the ability to install great hope, welcome to the Blue Lantern Corps.' 'Rarity of Earth, you have the ability to feel great compassion, welcome to the Indigo Tribe.' 'Fluttershy of Earth, you have great love in your heart, welcome to the Star Sapphires.' With that the rings placed themselves onto Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Rarity and Fluttershy's fingers and in a flash the four were put into the outfit of the respected corps. "This is awesome!" Rainbow Dash cried, she seemed to get the hang of the blue ring quickly flying out of Twilight's garage and zipping around. Whereas Applejack, Fluttershy and Rarity were still surprised and stocked by what had happened to them. "What in tarnation" Applejack said, noticing that she and the other three were glowing and floating, "what happened to us!?" "More importantly" Rarity added, noticing hers, Applejack, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy outfits, "what are we wearing?!" "You seem to be emitting some kind of energy," Twilight said. "I wonder were the other three rings went," Sunset added. "Eh, who knows" Rainbow Dash shrugged, as she landed back inside the garage. Crystal Prep Academy. Principal Cinch was in her office finishing my some student reports, "if only I had the power that Twilight had" she said, to herself. "If only I had the power to take revenge on her, her friends and Canterlot High for humiliating Crystal Prep," she said, angrily. Suddenly the yellow ring flow into her office, "What's this?" Cinch wondered. The ring quickly slid onto her finger, 'Principal Abacus Cinch of Earth, you have the ability to install great fear, welcome to the Sinestro Corps.' In a flash of yellow Principal Cinch donned the uniform of a yellow lantern, "Yes, now this is power," she laughed, feeling the ring's power flow though her. Elsewhere inside an unnamed dinner. "This is great, just great," Adagio Dazzle, the leader of the sirens grumbled, as she and the other two sirens fed off the negative emotions of the people around them. "Really?" asked Sonata Dusk, the third siren "because I think that our situation can't get any worse." "I really hate you, Sonata" scowled Aria Blaze, the second siren. The three finished their feeding and exited the dinner. "If it wasn't for those girls and their friendship," Adagio growled, "we would be adored by everyone in this world." Before Adagio could continue, the red ring appear in front of the three. 'Adagio Dazzle, Aria Blaze and Sonata Dusk of Earth, there is great rage in your hearts, you belong to the red lantern corps.' Two more red rings spawned from the first and all three slotted themselves onto the girl's fingers and in a flash all three donned the uniforms of a red lantern. "Time to pay, Rainbooms," Adagio smilied, as she and the rest of the Dazzlings took to the sky. Lastly. "Those Rainbooms always stealing me and my band's thunder," Trixie said, crossly as she walked home from school. "If it wasn't for them I would hear people cheering my name and ask me for my autograph," she fumed, "I would be the centre of attention." Just then the orange ring landed in front of Trixie. 'Trixie Lulamoon of Earth, you want it all,' The ring placed itself on Trixie's finger and she donned the uniform of an orange lantern, "I want everything you have, Rainbooms," Trixie smirked, "and more." Far out in space. A figure also dressed in a green lantern uniform and carrying a green coloured lantern, recovered from the shock of the red, orange and yellow rings finding bearers and being pulled into a different universe. "It's happening," he said, his own ring glowing brightly, "I just hope the others made it though." "As long as he didn't follow us we'll all be safe," he finished. The next day at CHS. "Can you believe what happened to us last night?" Rainbow Dash said, as she and the girls entered the school, wearing their usual clothes but still wearing their rings, "we turned into superheroes!" "It certainly was a strange event last night," Rarity replied. "Yes those rings said they chose you for some sort of corps," agreed Sunset. "And the energy coming off you is like nothing I've ever seen," Twilight added, "I'm not even sure its magic." "If it's not magic, then what is it?" asked Applejack. "Who cares what it is," Rainbow Dash interrupted, "it makes me more then 20% cooler, I can't wait to see what else my ring can do." "We still don't know where the other rings flew off to," reminded Sunset, as the bell for lessons rang. Crystal Prep. Principle Cinch floated into her office and used her ring to summon up a throne-like chair, she had also worked out how to use her ring, "Once the whole school is under my control I will...." she started, before her throne disappeared causing her to fall on her face. "My ring! what happened?" growled Cinch. "I did," answered a voice. Cinch turned to see a strange man, wearing a ring like hers, a yellow outfit and carrying a yellow lantern, striding into her office. "From what I can tell, you certainly thrive on installing fear in the students here," the stranger continued, "but as long as your wearing that ring on you finger I'll be the one giving the orders." "Nobody tell me what to do!" Cinch growled, she fired a blast from her ring at the stranger. He simply blocked with his own ring with a shield construct. Cinch leaped at the stranger summoning up a club construct and tried to break his shields. "I'm not impressed," the stranger said, as he single handedly blocked Cinch's attacks and knocking her back. "Who are you?" Cinch asked, "I am Sinestro, I am the leader of the Sinestro corps," the stranger replied, introducing himself, "I am the one responsible for the ring you wear." Cinch prepared to attack again, but Sinestro put up his hand, "We can ether continue this pointless charade, but soon you must realise that the newfound power coursing through you is but a fraction of my own abilities." "You know where this ring came from?" Cinch asked. "Indeed, they come from somewhere very far from here," replied Sinestro, "from what my ring can tell me" he continued, "it appears I've been pulled into another universe where my and the other lantern corps never existed." "No doubt thanks to Ganthet using the Last Light, I should remember to thank him once I hunt him down." "I have no idea what you're talking about" Cinch replied, "all that matters to me is that I finally have the power to take revenge on my former prize student and her friends for humiliating my school I will make them remember what fear taste like!" "Spoken like a true daughter of the Sinestro corps," Sinestro smilied, "but you think too small, why create order in school when you could role the world with fear?" "Yes! First CHS, then the world!," Cinch agreed. "I think you and I have a lot in common," smiled Sinestro. Elsewhere. "Rainbooms, we're coming for you" Adagio smirked, as she and the other two Dazzlings flew through the city. "A group of useless worms? You think too small" a voice spoke. The Dazzlings didn't have time to react, before they were hit by a beam of red energy knocking them out of the air. "With your dying breaths you will tell me how you acquired those rings" the figure responsible for the blast continued, he was wearing a red uniform, a ring and carrying a red lantern. He summoned up a giant hand construct to grab the Dazzlings and pin them to a wall, his companion a cat, also wearing a uniform and a ring, stood on his shoulder. "These ring chose us!" Adagio replied, she and the rest of the Dazzlings fired a blast from their rings at the stranger. "Ha!" the stranger laughed, as the blast bounced off him, "you think you three worms can harm Atrocitus? The greatest of the Red Lanterns!" The Dazzlings fired on Artocitus again, "your combined rage is nothing compared to mine!" Atrocitus responded, the blast bouncing off him again. "I am in the middle of a fight for the fate of the universe and then me and Dex-starr find ourselves suddenly stranded on this obsolete earth," he continued, "I want answers!" "We don't know what you just said," Aria replied. "But maybe we can come to an agreement that benefits all of us," Adagio smiled. "Yeah, could be fun" Sonata agreed, stroking Dex-starr. "I'm listening..." Atrocitus smiled. Canterlot High. Trixie walked into the gym, she waited for her band members. "Soon it will be all mine" she laughed, feeling the power of her ring flow through her. Just then, the member of Trixie's band, the Illusions, entered the gym. "What's this about, Trixie?" asked Lavender Lace. "Yeah, why'd you want to see us?" added Fuchsia Blush. Trixie smiled, before the two could react she hit them with a blast of orange energy, knocking them out, orange constructs of the two rose from the knocked out girls. "We await your command" the constructs said. "Excellent," Trixie said, satisfied "the first recruits for my takeover." "Takeover? As in taking things that aren't yours," said a voice from behind her. Trixie turned to see a strange figure, wearing an orange uniform, ring and clutching an orange lantern, standing behind her, he had seemingly appeared from nowhere. "I like the way you think, human," the figure continued, "but your plans will be useless if you don't have one of these" he pointed to the orange lantern. Trixie could feel the power from the lantern begging her to take it, she reached out to grab the lantern. "That little stunt a few minutes ago was impressive so I'm not going to kill you yet" the stranger said, grabbing Trixie, with his ring and holding her down. "but you need to know is Larfleeze is in charge," he continued. "Attack! Get him!" Trixie commanded her construct band members. They didn't move, "You mean your orange light constructs?" Larfleeze smiled, "sorry, but anything of orange light answers to me." "Now, Trixie?" he continued, "back to what you said about a takeover, is there anything your enemies have that I would want?" In the cafeteria. "Who wants the last cupcake?" Pinkie Pie asked. "You have it, dear," Rarity said, floating it over with her ring. "Thanks" replied Pinkie, "I gotta say Rarity, you seem a lot more happier now that you're so colourful." "Maybe it's because I feel compassionate at the moment" Rarity smiled. "Yeah, these rings are so awesome" Rainbow Dash agreed. "I don't know," Applejack said, "I get the feelin' this is bigger than all of us." They all looked at their rings in silence. > Chapter 3 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The girls were about to head to their next lesson, when they heard an explosion from the school soccer pitch. "What was that?" asked Sunset. "Trouble," Rainbow Dash smiled, she donned her blue lantern outfit, "time to hero up!" she said, she flew off in the direction of the soccer pitch. Power levels 40% "I'm with you Rainbow," Applejack said, donning her green lantern outfit. Power levels 34% "As am I," Rarity nodded, she also donned her indigo lantern outfit. Power levels 30% "I...I guess I am too," Fluttershy nervously agreed, she donned her star sapphire outfit, the three of them flew after Rainbow Dash. Power levels 25% "Yeah, wait for us!" Twilight shouted as she, Sunset and Pinkie dashed after the girls. When they reached the soccer pitch all the girls gasped, the cause of the explosion hovered in the air before them. "Now we know where the yellow ring went," Sunset said. There in front of them was Principle Cinch, Sinestro and some of Twilight's old fellow students from Crystal Prep all glowing with yellow energy. "Is this all?" Sinestro asked, "these are the ones who have you trouble in the past?" "Yes, especially that girl they stand by now," Cinch replied, pointing right at Twilight. Sinestro was unamused, "These worms are hardly worth your humiliation." "You want Twilight?" Rainbow Dash said, standing her ground. "Then you have to go though us," Applejack finished, she, Rarity also standing their ground, Fluttershy tried her best to be brave. "With pleasure," Cinch smiled, Sinestro handed his yellow lantern to her, Cinch pressed her ring against it and spoke the words. In blackest day, in brightest night, Beware your fears made into light Let those who try to stop what's right, Burn like my power... Sinestro's might! After saying the words Cinch and her ring glowed brighter. "Prepare to taste fear," she smiled, she nodded to her students, "get them my Shadowbolts!" she commanded. The students obeyed banding together they summoned up a monstrous construct of a scorpion "Bring it on!" Rainbow Dash cried, she summoned up a giant robot construct and engaged the students. "Right behind ya," added Applejack, she summond up a lasso construct, trying to tie the scorpion's legs up, while Rainbow tried to destory it. Cinch turned her gaze back to the remaining five "While two of your friends are busy with my students I'll destroy my former prize student and her friends," she laughed. She fired a blast from her ring at Twilight, which Fluttershy blocked with her ring, "NOBODY. HURTS. MY. FRIENDS!" Fluttershy shouted, now angry at Cinch. Cinch fired again, but this time Rarity block the blast with her ring, "I'm with Fluttershy," she said, defiantly. Both Rarity and Fluttershy fired a combined blast from their rings at Cinch, blasting her back. Power levels 7% Power levels 6% Rarity and Fluttershy's attacks seemed to be getting weaker "You seem to be a little low on power," Cinch smiled, she summoned up a scythe construct. Rarity and Fluttershy tried to counter attack but their rings seemed to be getting weaker, the some was happening to Rainbow Dash and Applejack. Power levels 5% "I can't keep up," Rainbow Dash groaned, as she struggled to keep her robot construct together. Power levels 4% "I can't ether," Applejack said, her lasso construct loosing it strength. The girls regrouped as Cinch, Sinestro and the Shadowbolts closed in. "Revenge is so sweet" Cinch gloated, brandishing her scythe. Suddenly a green energy dome encompassed the girls. "Are you doing that, Applejack?" Sunset asked. "I ain't doin' nothing," Applejack replied. "Look!" Twilight said, pointing up above the pitch, everyone raised their heads. There hovering above them all was a person wearing the same outfit as Applejack and carrying a green coloured lantern in his hand. "Who are you?" Cinch demanded. "Ah, glorious evil," Sinestro smiled, "it is he." The stranger didn't reply, he simply flew past the yellow lanterns, swept up the girls in an energy bubble and flew off. Cinch was not impressed, "Cowards!" she yelled, after the girls as disappeared. "I know you'd be here," Sinestro mumbled to himself. "You'll safe here," the stranger said, as he set the girls down. "Who are you?" Twilight asked. "More to the point" the stranger continued, "how did you get those rings, you're wearing?" "They fell out of the sky," Fluttershy replied. "And chose us," Applejack finished. "I see," the stranger murmured. "Back to my question," Twilight interrupted, "who are you?" "Well I guess you deserve an explanation," the stranger replied, "I'm Hal Jordan, Green Lantern of space sector 2814" "Oh, so you're like Alan Scott?" Sunset asked. Hal looked surprised, "There's an Alan Scott on this earth too?" he asked. "Wait, this earth?" Twilight asked, confused. "Well, it appears that I've been pulled into another universe by the Last Light where all the lantern corps don't exist, but the JSA does," Hal replied, after some thinking. "Last Light?" Rainbow Dash asked. "The Last Light was supposed to be an escape plan for the end of the universe," Hal explained, "I've never heard of it actually working or being used, things never got that grim". Hal explained to the girls that in his universe he was part on an intergalactic police force called the Green Lanterns. Along with that he explained that the rings channeled the emotional spectrum through them and that there were other lantern corps: green for willpower, blue for hope, pink for love, indigo for compassion, yellow for fear, red for rage and orange for greed. Lastly he said that his universe had been overrun by a being called Nekron, who had raised the countless dead on every world in the cosmos and that was how he had ended up in there universe. "So the person that was with Cinch?" Rarity asked. "He's Sinestro, the leader of the yellow lanterns," Hal replied. "So what do we do now?" Applejack asked. "Well first things, first," Hal said, holding of out his lantern to Applejack, "your ring needs charging." Applejack pressed her ring to the lantern and spoke. In brightest day, in blackest night, No evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil's might, Beware my power, Green Lantern's light! Applejack and her ring started glowing brightly. Hal turned to the others, "Once we find the others they'll be able to charge your rings," he said. Downtown "Twilight! Face me!" Cinch cried, as she, Sinestro and the Shadowbolts flew though the streets. Suddenly a blast of red energy hit Cinch, "Who dares?" she demanded. "We do," Adagio replied, as she, the other two Sirens, Atrocitus and Dex-starr blocked their path, "and we're the ones who are going to destroy the Rainboom, us." "Atrocitus," Sinestro remarked, "I see you made it here too." "Even I am surprised to see you," Atrocitus replied. "Back to the point," interrupted Aria. "Yes, let me make it clear," Adagio continued, "We get first crack at the Rainbooms." "No! I get first crack at the Rainbooms!" cried, another voice. The red and yellow lanterns turned to see Trixie, her orange servant constructs and larfleeze. "Didn't you hear us," Adagio fumed, "we get first crack!" "They're mine I tell ya!!! Mine!!! Mine!!! Mine!!!" Trixie cried, an orange glow in her eyes. "Alright it's go time" Aria said, she summoned a spiked hammer construct and engaged Trixie. "Last one standing gets first crack at the Rainbooms," Trixie smiled, as she and her orange servent constructs blocked Aria's attacks. "And we'll be the ones standing," Adagio declared. "Yeah" Sonata nodded, she and Dex-starr moved in on Cinch "The end has come!" cried Cinch, she and her students moved to attack. In a graveyard. The sky began to get dark and a black figure wearing a black ring and carrying a skull wearing a mask, strode past the graves, "No one can outrun death forever," the figure said, talking to the skull. More black rings spawned from the one the figure wore and flew to all the graves. "Rise!" a voice called out of the dark. > Chapter 4 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Back with the girls "How are we supposed to find the other lanterns?" Sunset asked. "Green lantern!" called a voice. Everyone looked up to see a strange looking figure flying towards them. He was carrying an unconscious humanoid woman with him and a blue coloured lantern slung over his wrist and a staff floating along with him. "Saint Walker" Hal greeted, as the stranger landed. "It is good to see you, lantern," Saint Walker replied. Hal then noticed the unconscious humanoid, "Indigo-1! Is she OK?". "She is out cold" Saint Walker answered, "the strain of the Last Light was more than she could bear, but she is recovering." Then he noticed the girls staring at him, "no doubt my appearance surprises you" he said, calmly, "but have hope we'll became friends." "Let me help you" Rainbow Dash smiled, she helped Saint Walker prop Indigo-1 in a comfortable position. While she was doing this he noted the blue ring on her finger, "I see the blue ring chose you" he remarked. "Yeah, it was awesome until it ran out" Rainbow Dash replied. "I can fix that" Saint Walker smiled, he handed her his lantern. Rainbow Dash took it, pressed her ring to it and spoke. In fearful day, in raging night, With strong hearts full, our souls ignite, When all seems lost in the War of Light, Look to the stars-- For hope burns bright! Like Applejack, Rainbow Dash and her ring glowed brighter. The sound of coughing was heard and everyone turned to see Indigo-1, who was waking up and getting to her feet, picking up her staff. "Are you ok?" Rarity asked, helping Indigo-1 up. Indigo-1 replied in a language neither Rarity nor anyone could understand. "I'm sorry, I don't know what your saying," Rarity said, slowly. "I see that your ring is out of power," Indigo-1 replied, now speaking english. She handed her staff to Rarity, she took it and spoke. In sorrowful day, in misfortunate night, We help those, who need our might, With the lantern power of Abin Sur, We rid your misery..., With compassionate might! Like the others, her ring glowed brightly. "Right, we've only got Carol Ferris to find and we'll be ready to face the other lantern corps," Hal said, once three of the ring had been charged. "Carol isn't the only lantern to get dragged here," added Saint Walker. "I know, Sinestro, Atrocitus and Larfleeze made it here too," replied Hal. "Saint Walker didn't mean them," Indigo-1 continued. "Well who then?" Hal asked. But before Indigo-1 could answer, a pink light streaked across the sky above them. "We can worry about the others later" Hal said, he ponited up as a pink light streaked across the sky, "right now, we've got to catch Carol." He, the other lanterns and most of the girls flew after the pink light, Applejack carrying Pinkie, Twilight, Sunset and Fluttershy in bubble. The pink light had landed at an abandoned construction site, by the time the others arrived. The light had created a sizeable crater in the centre of the site. "Carol are you alright?" Hal asked, as he approached, the pink light turned out to be a young woman wearing a pink outfit, a ring and carrying a pink coloured lantern. "I'm fine, Hal" Carol replied, as Hal helped her to her feet. She noticed the ring on Fluttershy's figure, "Looks like you ring needs charging" she said, she handed her lantern to Fluttershy. Fluttershy took the lantern and spoke the words For hearts long lost and full of fright, For those alone in blackest night, Accept our ring and join our fight, Love conquers all-- with violet light! "Aw, yeah," Rainbow Dash said, "We're all charged up." Carol still looked worried and scared, "Carol what's wrong?" Hal asked. "Hal, the Last Light...." Carol said, shakily "we made it through...." she struggled to complete the sentence, "But so did Nekron!" Hal, Saint Walker and Indigo-1all gasped. "Not Nekron!" cried Pinkie, "I don't actually know what that is" she whispered to Applejack. "Hal, who or what is Nekron?!" Sunset asked. "We're doomed" Hal shivered, almost as if he hadn't heard anyone, "death, death is coming." > Chapter 5 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Death is a constant in every universe," The Lanterns and the girls were back at Pinkie pie's house, as Carol explained to the girls what and who Nekron was. "And Nekron....Nekron is death," Carol continued, "inevitable and unstoppable." "A threat so powerful that even enemies became allies to stop it," she went on. "But we could not prevail," added Saint Walker. "Our universe was at an end," Carol carried on, "Ganthet did what he could to save the last of the living, but in doing so...." she faltered, "I fear he has only doomed this universe as well." Carol's head sank. "I still don't get it," Hal said, he'd been phasing back and forth while Carol had been explaining, "how? The Last Light that Ganthet invoked is only meant for ring-wielders powered by the emotional spectrum" he continued phasing, "Nekron is the exact opposite of that, he's darkness, decoy, he's pure entropy." "Well going off of what Carol said," Sunset said, slowly "entropy is an intrinsic part of every universe, if is true and this...Nekron... is a manifestation of entropy, he can theoretically exist in some form in every universe." "You are correct, Sunset," Carol nodded, gravely "but Nekron does not change form as he moves between realities, he is the same elemental force, he's always wanting to snuff out the light." "You said that you beat Nekron once before," Twilight said, "why can't you do it again?" "Because Nekron isn't stupid," Hal replied, "we beat him the first time thanks to Kyle Rayner, the white lantern, Kyle had the unique ability to unite the power of all the different lantern corps." "But this time Nekron took him out first, before Kyle could harness the entire spectrum again." Carol finished. "And thats just the tip of the iceberg," added Hal, "Our rings, like yours, need to be recharged by power batteries." he pointed to the lanterns and staff that he, Saint Walker, Carol and Indigo-1 carried. "Thankfully we got these when we did," Saint Walker chipped in. "Along with taking Kyle out Nekron also destroyed the central power batteries of all the lantern corps," Hal continued, "and without the central batteries no new rings can be forged, which means no new lanterns of any colour." "Which also means no reinforcements beyond those of us who were saved by Ganthet's Last Light." Indigo-1 said, grimly. "If we couldn't stop Nekron with the combined power of all the corps," Hal said, "the odds are even lower now." "Oh, I didn't know we had guests," a monotone voice said. Everyone jumped and turned to see Pinkie's older sister Maud Pie, who had enter the room. Maud seemed unaffected by the four people wearing different colours and glowing. "Boulder was playing hide and seek," she continued, pulling a small pebble out from under the sofa cushions, after which, she left the room without another word. "Anyway" Rainbow Dash broke the silence, "a no-win scenario, Hal" she smiled, "you've come to the right girls." The Graveyard The Blackest Night falls from the skies, The darkness grows as all light dies, We crave your hearts and your demise, By my black hand, the dead shall rise! The words of the Black lantern oath echoed everywhere, hands sprang from the ground as the dead began to rise, all wearing black rings. "Find the lanterns!" the disembodied voice commanded, "bring me their hearts!" "By your will, master it shall be done," the black figure holding the skull replied, "by the hand, Black Hand." "Nekron, as your loyal servant I shall ensure that all light will die" Black Hand continued, as the corpse of the dead clawed themselves free from their graves. "Then go my Black Hand," the voice of Nekron said, "the blackest night has just begun." Two rings flew over to two graves, the graves of Pear Butter and Bright Mac Pear Butter of Earth ri..... Bright Mac of Earth ri..... Over and over the rings tried to takeover the bodies, but an invisible wall seemed to keep the black rings out. Pear Butter of Earth at peace Bright Mac of Earth at peace Pinkie Pie's house "So let's go find Nekron and knock him into another dimension," Rainbow Dash said. "There's still the matter of the other three corps," added Saint Walker. "We don't even know where they are now," Applejack reminded. "Hey, guys" Pinkie Pie called from down stairs, "have you seen the news?" Everyone rushed to where Pinkie was watching the news. "Continuing our live coverage of the battle erupting in the downtown area." the news broadcaster said, as blasts of yellow, red and orange energy fired back and forth as the lanterns flow around shooting each other. Before the broadcaster could continued a blast of yellow energy hit the camera, knocking it out. "Well, we know where they are," Sunset said. "And in other news" the news presenter in the studio continued, "the skies have become dark and graveyards all over the city have been upended." But the girls and the lanterns have already left the house. Downtown "Twilight!" Cinch cried, "There is nowhere you can hide from me!" as she and the Shadowbolts continued their destruction of the city. "Nobody gets to destroy the Rainbooms, till only one of us is left," Trixie said, as she tried to hold her own against the Dazzlings. "Time to take you of the equation," Adagio smiled, as she and other two sirens' rings glowed ominously. "Aren't you going to help me, Larfleeze?" Trixie asked, seeing the orange lantern just hanging off in the background. "Not my problem," Larfleeze replied. "Die you worm!" the Dazzlings cried, a combined blast from all three of them, shaped like a spear, fired in Trixie's direction. But before it could hit Trixie was surrounded by a bubble of blue energy, being projected by Rainbow Dash. "Hey, it's us you want," Rainbow Dash said, as she, her friends and the lanterns, flew up to the Dazzlings and Trixie. "Took you long enough," Aria scowled. "Never figured you were the type to take on apprentices, Atrocitus" Hal remarked. "You were just as annoying even before we landed here," Artocitus replied. "And I hoped that was the last of you," added Sinestro's voice, as he flew towards them. "Sinestro, listen to me," Hal said, "you've got it all wrong," Sinestro fired a blast from his ring at Hal, who blocked it, "we need to keep the entire spectrum together," he blocked another blast, this time from Trixie. "Y'all have got to stop!" Applejack cried. "She's right," Saint Walker continued, "we're not the only ones who made it to this universe." "Nekron followed us!" Carol cried. "You need to put aside your grudges and work together," Twilight finished. Upon hearing Twilight's voice Cinch turned around, "I will only stop" she said, flying towards Twilight, "only when I get my revenge on those who stopped me before." "Nekron?" Sinestro laughed, he summoned up some dual sword constructs and made a slash at Hal, "you think I fear him?" Hal summoned up a shield construct to block Sinestro's attack, "I will finally end him myself!" Sinestro cried, he shattered Hal's shield and realised a surge of yellow energy. "What use was our alliance before?" Sinestro continued, as Hal got to his feet, "combining the powers of the spectrum only made each of us weaker!" he summoned up a chin-whip and advanced on Hal. Rainbow Dash tried to counterattack but Sinestro blocked it and blasted her back,"and now you ally yourself with children," he smirked. "with humans unworthy of a ring," he continued, single handedly firing another blast at Rarity and Fluttershy, who had tried to surprise him. "I will not let your weakness destroy us all," Sinestro cried, as he unleashed yellow lighting from his ring it hit Hal, Saint Walker, Indigo-1 and Carol "You feel Sinestro's wrath!" he smiled, as watched his enemies writhing in pain. "Here we go again," a voice from behind him sighed, "arriving just in time..." Before Sinestro could react he was nailed in the back by a huge blast of green energy. "To save Jordan's butt," one of the figures responsible for the blast remarked. "Don't worry guys the cavalry's here," added another figure. The girls and the lanterns looked up to see four figure wearing green uniforms come floating down towards them. "What took you guys so long?" Hal choked, as he and the other lantern took to their feet. "Well excuse me, Princess," one of the figures replied. "Still its good to see you, Guy Gardener," greeted Saint Walker. "And too you John Steward and Simon Baz," nodded Indigo-1. "Nice to see you made it, Jessica Cruz" Carol smiled. "Hal do you know these people?" Twilight asked. "Well, hello what's your name?" Guy asked, noticing Rarity and walking right up to her, "Guy Gardener, green lantern extraordinaire." "Later Guy," Hal interrupted, "right now we need to leave." "Killjoy," Guy replied, crossly. "What about Sinestro and the others?" Twilight asked. "We will come back for them," Simon said. "We need a place we can fallback to," finished John. "I know a place and someone we can trust," Sunset suggested. > Chapter 6 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The museum Alan Scott walked past all the different cases in the JSA exhibit, "Where did the good times go?" he asked, aloud looking at his costume and ring. "The good days ended when the team quit," a voice, out of the darkness, replied. Alan turned to see two black lanterns, these being Atom a.k.a. Al Pratt, one of the founding members of the JSA along side Alan, and Blue Beetle a.k.a. Dan Garret, a lesser known hero from a time before the JSA, standing ahead of him. They looked like they were alive but not for the black lantern logo replacing their logos and looking like zombies. "Al?!" Alan said, shocked, "You're dead." "Yes I did die," Atom replied, "I died cold and friendless and only my friends called me Al." "I wasn't even ask to join your little team," Blue Beetle added. "You never asked," Alan answered, "plus we never met." "Well it be nice" Blue Beetle replied, "it be nice to be invited." "I don't want to hurt you, Atom," Alan said, as the two advanced on him, Atom's fists glow with radioactive energy. "Well, that's too bad," Blue Beetle smiled. "Because me and Blue Beetle want to hurt you" Atom continued, "old friend." "Did you just call me old?" Alan asked. "Yeah, so what?!" Blue Beetle snarled. "Well, if you remember Atom," Alan continued, "I've always proffered the term 'experienced'." Suddenly Alan fired a blast of green flame, blasting Atom and Blue Beetle back, while he had been talking to the two undead heroes Alan had opened and reached into the display case containing his ring and put it on. "I see you still have a lot of fight left in you," Atom growled. "You should know me better than that, Atom" Alan replied, "I always go down fighting." "I can feel your willpower," Blue Beetle smirked. "You can't beat both of us professionals," Atom laughed. "I can try," Alan responded, his ring blowing bright. The two Black Lanterns charged at Alan, he blasted them again, trying to slow them down. "Even the Starheart cannot save you now," Atom growled. "Why fight us? when you could become one of us?" Blue Beetle smiled. Sorry, boys, but I gotta put you in the hot seat," Alan replied. He summoned up a ring of fire, which surround the two black lanterns. "You think you've won?" Atom laughed. "The Blackest night will consume all of the living" Blue Beetle smiled. With that the two disappeared in a flash of black light. "I have a bad feeling about this" Alan said, starting to lock up the exhibit and heading home. Alan sat in an armchair, in his home, thinking about what the Blue Beetle had said before he and Atom disappeared. A knock at the door broke his silence, he answered it. It was the Mane Six and the Lanterns, "Hay, sorry to call so late," Sunset apologised. "No worries, Sunset" Alan said, then he noticed the lanterns, "this night just keeps getting stranger and stranger." He showed the group in and Hal explained who they were and what was happening, Alan mentioning his encounter with Atom and Blue Beetle. "The black rings must have chosen Atom because he had an emotional tie to you," Indigo-1 said. "Another question I have is" Alan continued, "why did the Atom and Blue Beetle want me dead?" "Because the Black lanterns are not the invaders here" Indigo-1 continued, "We, the living, are the invaders, we are the trespassers." "But why?" Twilight asked. "Because we bring goodness, we bring life," Indigo-1 carried on, "In the beginning, the universe belonged to the darkness. And then there was light, for seven hundred years, the universe was nothing but blinding white light. Then the darkness fought back and the white light was splintered." "These splinters make up the emotional spectrum," Saint Walker explained. "Correct, every sentient being born from the light now contributes to is Emotional Spectrum. Our state of being adds to its respective light. And it can be collected and condensed into power" Indigo-1 finished, "It is this white light that we are all connected to and it is the very thing the Black Lanterns seek to destroy." Just then Alan's two children Jade and Obsidian entered the room. "Hey, dad" Jade said, "we heard you from up stairs." her skin was usually green when she used her powers, when not using her powers her skin was normal colour. "I didn't know we had guests," added Obsidian, "Friends of yours?" "Everyone, these are my kids, Jade and Obsidian" Alan said, introducing the Mane Six and the lanterns to his kids. "From what you said," Alan said, after introductions were made, "it sounds like these Black lanterns mean business, we need a plan." "I have one," Rainbow Dash said, "Putting the JSA back together." "Whoa, slow down there, kiddo" Alan replied, "They're too far away to call at this point." Out of the blue, another knock at the door was heard. "Is it them?" Twilight asked. "I'm not an expert," Hal said, "but I don't think Black Lanterns knock." Alan answered the door, the others heard him talking to two unfamiliar voice, Alan reappeared smiling, "You know I think that plan might just work" he turned back to the door, "you guys can make your dramatic entrance now." "No way!" Rainbow Dash gasped. There standing behind Alan was, Flash a.k.a. Jay Garrick and Commander Steel a.k.a. Henry Heywood. "I didn't know you guys were in town," Alan greeted, "You should've come by the house sooner." "We were planning to, but then we saw the news reports" Jay replied. "We're glad to have you," Saint walker responded. "So our JSA members are up to three," Henry finished. "Excuse me" Rainbow Dash interrupted, "But there's nine, we're going to help fight the Black Lanterns too, right girls?" All the girls nodded, even Fluttershy. "All right then!" Hal called, "JSA, Lanterns! Lets do this!" Downtown "You don't deserve a saviour who was kicked out of a team of world saving fakes," Black Lantern David Reid, a.k.a. Magog said, as he walked through the streets firing multiple blasts of plasma from his staff, "you don't deserve Magog." People ran to escape from the undead super hero, all except for Maud Pie. Magog stopped right in front of her looking at her with a titled head look, like a confused animal. Maud looked at him, not showing any sign of emotion. Magog just stalked past her and continued on with his rampage. In a graveyard. The JSA and the lanterns arrived at the graveyard, Alan, Jay and Henry had picked up their costumes and gear from the museum. "This place creeps me, out" Jade said, her skin was now its green colour. Obsidian nodded in agreement. "Stay alert," Henry said, readying his modified rifle "That's strange," Jay said, "it's quiet, theres no sign of life." "And why would there be?" a voice answered, "for in this place, you will only find the one great constant found in every universe." Everyone turned to see the Leader of the Black Lanterns Nekron. "Death!" Nekron cried, as more undead rose up behind him. > Chapter 7 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "We defeated you in our universe and we can stop you in this one" Hal said to Nekron, defiantly. "Why resist?" Nekron said, "why spend your final moments in useless struggle." Black Hand stepped forward, "Lord Nekron is right, death is inevitable and eternal," he held up a skull. "Before you had a advantage to defeat me," Nekron said, "but no more." A single black ring flew out of the black lantern on Nekron's scythe and headed towards the skull. Black slime grow from the skull, turning into bones. The ring slotted itself on the finger as it formed. Next, flesh spread over the bones. Finally, skin and clothing covered the flesh. "Kyle Rayner of earth," Nekron smiled, as the body of the fallen green lantern rose up in front of him, "Rise!" "Hello, Hal, my old friend" Kyle said. "Kyle, I'm so sorry, I let you die, back in our universe, but I'm sorry I have to destroy you," Hal replied. "You're sorry?" Kyle replied, "try telling that to Kilowog, Mogo, Ch'p and all the other lanterns you let die." "Don't let the fact that it's a face you recognise distract you," Henry said. "The hearts of the living will be ours," Black Hand said, as the black lanterns began to attack the group, there were an army of them. "There is nowhere to go," Nekron added, "no other worlds, no other realities here, your lives will end." "You sure we can't save these people?" Rainbow Dash asked, as she fired blasts of blue energy. "It's too late for them, Rainbow," Hal replied. "This is what happened to your universe, isn't it?" asked Applejack, as she fought the black lanterns. "Just like this, one last stand," Indigo-1 replied. Twilight and Pinkie battled the black lanterns using their powers, Pinkie's being making objects explode by touching them and Twilight's telekinesis, Sunset seemed to be holding her own. The others used their powers too, along with their lantern powers, Applejack's super strength, Rarity's diamond constructs, Rainbow Dash's super speed and Fluttershy's ability to talk to animals. They were beginning to become overwhelmed by black lanterns. "This time Ganthet ain't here to pop open another escape hatch!" Guy said, as he blasted some of the black lanterns away. "Good thing that backups arrived," a voice replied. Everyone looked to where the voice had come from. "Ohmygoshohmygoshohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh!" Rainbow Dash gasped. There stood JSA members: Doctor Fate, Hourman, Stargirl, Sandman, Power girl, Red Tornado, Citizen Steel, Damage, Doctor Mid-nite, Spectre, Hawkman and Hawkgirl. "Hope you don't mind, Alan," Stargirl a.k.a. Courtney Whitmore, "but we raided your exhibit for our old stuff." "What are you doing here? You're going to get hurt" Henry asked Red Tornado a.k.a. Ma Hunkel, "Ah, Henry's going to kill me for putting on the cooking pot," Red Tornado replied. "Oh, darling what are you wearing?" Rarity asked, looking at what Power Girl a.k.a. Karen Starr was wearing. "You mean my costume?" Power Girl replied, "This what I wore on active duty and I haven't found a suitable symbol for herself." "Oh, no you simply cannot go around looking like that," Rarity responded. "I think that there's more at stake here than one costume," Applejack interrupted. "Yes, I think the bigger problem is the black lanterns," agreed Hourman a.k.a. Rex Tyler. "Oh, alright," Rarity nodded, "but once we're done here I'm fixing that costume of yours." "No matter how many of you there are," Black Hand growled, "the dead out number the living." "Do not be so sure, denizen of death, the wheel of fate is turning," Doctor Fate a.k.a. Kent Nelson, said as he blasted the black lanterns with magical energy. "You know, what they say," Applejack said, summoning up a giant apple construct and bowling it at the black lanterns, "an apple a day, keeps the doctor away." "You and I are alike, Spectre," Black Hand said, "we are both avatars of death." "We are nothing alike Black Hand," replied, Spectre a.k.a. Jim Corrigan "I am the avatar of vengeance, you are the avatar of death." "Nevertheless you are a bringer of death," Black Hand responded, "and the dead belong to Nekron and so do you." The black lantern Kyle, vomited up a black ring which headed straight for the Spectre, but before the ring could latch onto him it was destroyed by Damage a.k.a. Grant Emerson. Both Citizen Steel a.k.a. Nate Heywood and Doctor Mid-nite a.k.a. Charles McNider faced down the black lanterns, "I think it's a good idea for you to steel up, Nate," Charles suggested. Nate nodded and activated his powers, turning his skin into indestructible living steel. "I could do this all night," Hawkman a.k.a. Carter Hall smiled, as he finished off some of the black lanterns with his mace along with picking up some of them and flying into the air and smashing them back down. "From the looks of it you may have to," Hawkgirl a.k.a. Kendra Saunders replied, as she also beat back the black lanterns with her mace, "they keep on coming!" "There's no end to them," cried Sandman a.k.a. Sandy Hawkins, as he tried fighting off the black lanterns with his gas gun. "We have to take the fight to Nekron," Rainbow Dash said, she fired a blast from her ring, hitting Nekron in the chest, destroying him. "That was easy," Rainbow Dash said. "Nekron's more than just decayed flesh and bone," Hal added, grimly "he's a manifestation of dark energy he won't be so easy..." Before Hal could finished, Nekron suddenly reformed straight in front of Hal and Rainbow Dash. "To destroy!" Hal cried, as he and Rainbow Blocked Nekron's attack. "You said that only one could stop Nekron was a white lantern," Twilight said, as she pushed and throw the black lanterns using her powers, "someone who can combine the powers of the spectrum." "That won't be enough," Carol replied, "we have tried and failed." "Only the life entity is powerful enough to defeat death itself," Indigo-1 continued, "when a single bearer wears the rings of every colour, only then is the entity unleashed." "Only when the rings choose a bearer strong enough to harness the entire spectrum of emotion," finished Hal. "Entire spectrum of emotion?" Twilight murmured, to herself. After some thinking, Twilight turned to Rarity, "Rarity give your ring to Sunset," she said. "What? Why?" Rarity asked. "Just trust me," Twilight replied. "Fine, just remember it chose me first," Rarity replied, handing her ring to Twilight. Twilight ran over to Sunset, "Sunset put this on!" she cried. "What are you...?" Sunset began. "Just put it on" Twilight urged. Sunset put the indigo ring on her finger, "Now what?" she asked. "Call it a hunch" Twilight replied. The pink, green and blue rings flew off and onto Sunset's figures. "The rings are communicating with each other!" Saint Walker cried, "They have found their common bearer, the one who can wield their combined might!" "These are four of the rings that Ganthet saved" Hal added. "What about the others?" Twilight asked. Downtown "We will be the ones that will finish the Rainboom!" Adagio growled, as she clashed with Trixie. "You three are fools, thinking that you deserve that honour!" Trixie cried. "Me and my Shadowbolts will crush you and destroy my former student," Cinch laughed. But before any of them could go any further all three of their rings few off their fingers, the Dazzling's rings returning to being one ring. "Our rings!" all three Dazzlings cried. "What?!" Trixie gasped. "No not now!" Cinch shouted, as the ring flew off. All of them dropped to the ground, "Stay where you are!" commanded the voice of a police officer, "you're under arrest!" Back at the graveyard "You will make a powerful black lantern, Kent Nelson," Nekron said, as he stood over the fallen hero, "embrace the inevitable...." He was cut off as the orange, yellow and red ring flew towards Sunset and slotted into her fingers, enveloping her in a blinding white light. "It's happening..." Carol said. "The colours uniting as one," cried Saint Walker. "The emotional spectrum is complete," Indigo-1 finished. From behind Sunset appeared the Life Entity. "The Life Entity is reborn!" Hal cried. The entity released a blast that wiped out all the black lanterns, except for Nekron and Black Hand Sunset and the entity then merged together as Sunset recited the words. In the brightest day, There will be light to cleanse the soul and set wrongs right when darkness falls look to the skies A new dawn comes Let there be light! The white light grow brighter as Sunset changed into a white lantern, the avatar of life itself. "Nekron! Your time is over!" Sunset said, she summoned up a blade construct and engaged Nekron. "How is she doing that?" Rainbow Dash asked, as she and the others watched Sunset battled death itself. "Sunset is now joined with the very light that was driven into the universe," Indigo-1 replied, "it is her will to survive that fuels it." "So what kind of power are we talking there?" asked Applejack. "Nothing less than godlike, Applejack," replied Saint Walker. Meanwhile, Sunset had Nekron in white chain constructs, while attacking him with her blade. "No! you are the trespassers! You are the enemies of existence!" he growled, as he struggled in the chains. "You do not belong here" Sunset said, "be gone from this reality." Sunset fired one finale blast of white energy at Nekron, finishing him off. Sunset and the entity separated, the entity erasing all of Nekron's work, including Black Hand. The blue, pink, green and Indigo rings returned to the girls, Sunset was now wearing a white ring. "That. Was. Awesome!" Rainbow Dash cheered. "Just like old times, eh?" Jay asked Alan. "Yeah, except I don't remember my back hurting like this back then." Alan replied, rubbing his sore back. The sound of cheering was heard, they all turned to see a crowd of people who had been watching clapping and cheering. "Eh, you see that," an old man said, smiling, "that's the way to do it." "No school like the old school," his friend agreed. Both men nodded in agreement. A news reporter pushed to the front of the crowd, "After years of retirement the JSA have returned to defend our city," the reporter said, she turned to Alan, "You and your team save us all" she said, "how can we thank you?" "It wasn't just us" Alan replied, "It was the heroism and courage of these seven girls," he gestured to Twilight and the others. "Does this mean that the JSA is out of a job?" the reporter asked. "No we just have another team we can count on to carry on our legacy" Alan replied. "Thats right," Rainbow Dash nodded, "the new JSA are ready for action, when danger appears we'll be there." > Epilogue > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- CHS Sunset sat by the pony statue at the front of the school with her magical book in her hand, writing a message to Princess Twilight. 'Dear Princess Twilight, I just thought I'd share our newest adventure with you, I hope you are having a good time in Equestria. We have had an amazing adventure and met some new friends. They have decided to try and return to their universe so one of our new friends, Doctor Fate, is helping them get back.....' "Hey Sunset," Twilight called, "it's about to start." Sunset put her book back into her backpack and joined the others to watch Rainbow Dash and Jay Garrick race each other. "Your ready to win....second place?" Rainbow Dash asked. "See if you can match my pace," Jay replied, "then we'll see who comes in second." "Ready," Twilight said. Both Jay and Rainbow Dash took their positions. "Set," Twilight said. The two took their marks. "Go!" Twilight cried. Both Jay and Rainbow Dash rocketed off, after a few minutes they reappeared. "You done good kid," Jay smiled, "your done good." "Yeah thanks," Rainbow Dash replied, "But for the record I was close to beating you." They then noticed Applejack arm wrestling with Citizen Steel, in his steel form, "I'm not gonna give," Nate said, through gritted teeth, trying to push AJ's arm down. "Me neither," Applejack replied, also through gritted teeth. "Who ever wins takes on Power Girl," Nate added. "This is the most daring dare anybody ever dared dare another person to dare!" commented Pinkie. "What?" Nate asked. "It's exciting!" Pinkie replied. Applejack pushed harder and Nate's arm began to lean towards AJ's side of the table. Nate tried to keep his arm from touching the table, but eventually his strength was drained. "Power Girl, you're up" Nate said. "Ah, don't feel bad, Nate. It's all in good fun," Applejack replied. Power Girl stepped up, her costume had been redesigned by Rarity and featured a diamond with a capital P in the middle. "May the best girl win," Applejack said. "I intend to," Power Girl replied. "It is time for you to make your farewells and go," Doctor Fate interrupted, as he opened a portal. "Time for us to leave," Hal said. "Darn, and I was just starting to like it here," Guy groaned. "Our friends back home need us," Simon reminded Guy "What about Sinestro, Atrocitus, Dex-starr and Larfleeze?" Jessica asked. "I have ensured that they have been put under lock and key," Doctor Fate replied. "What about our rings?" Fluttershy asked, "Don't you need them?" "They're in good hands," Saint Walker said, he and other lanterns handed their lanterns to the girls. "Good luck, Rainboom lanterns," Indigo-1 finished, as she and the other lanterns stepped through the portal. Hal was last to go, "What happens now?" Sunset asked. "You are the protector of white light," Hal replied, "use it to bring light to the darkest places." With that he turned and walked through the portal, as the girls looked on. "I'm not saying you're unworthy, Twilight" Applejack said, "I'm just surprised that none of the rings picked you." "I don't know what I would do with a red ring or an orange one," Twilight replied. "Definitely not a yellow ring," Pinkie Pie added, "you wouldn't scare anyone, apart from Midnight Sparkle she is scary." "You might look good in violet," Fluttershy commented. "I think I might know," Sunset said, after some thinking, "maybe Twilight's nature cannot be summed up by only one colour." "That's kind of you to say," Twilight smiled. "I just mean that summarising your nature by a single colour is impossible to do," Sunset replied.
