The daughter of Celestia,princess Aurora, had a "normal" life for a princess with some exception but her life is about to change on the longest day of the year
Princess Aurora, who is a natural in Fire magic, has lived for 200 year with her mom Celestia. She didn't had the most exciting life except for some.... exception but it is about to change with 1000th Summer Celebration.
It was an important day for Canterlot , many ponies were excited about the 1000th Summer Sun Celebration. But while they were minding their own business a mare with a white coat and orange mane was silently watching the city from one of the Castle tower.
I never thought Canterlot could be that active thought Princess Aurora.
She may have lived for 400 years but never did she actually saw the capital like this. The streets of Canterlot were always active but in time like the Summer Sun Celebration the streets were filled with citizen going around buying and selling things and even more, the fact that it was the 1000th Celebration probably had an effect too.
"Admiring the view I see," Said a voice that she knew too well.
"Well it IS the first time that I see so many excited ponies," she replied to her mother.
"Are you ready for you mission?" Asked Celestia.
"it's more like a task than a real mission, in a real mission I would lead armies into battle or infiltrate a fort, here I watch over an antisocial mare." Said Aurora in slighty irritaded voice.
"At least you get to watching over somepony you know and like."
"And watch her miserably failling at talking to a stranger which will result in putting her in a embarrasing moment, worth it." She added in a amused tone.
Celestia just rolled her eyes and gave her daughter a light hug whispering "stay safe."
"I will," she whispered back.
After that Aurora went to her chamber only to see Twilight aboard a flying carriage heading toward the small town of Ponyville.
Oh crap I better get going she thought has she spread her wings and took off, following discretly the lavender mare and her dragon assistant.
I wonder why mom believe this will work. I don't doubt Twilight's skill, no one should, but this ? I am not too sure while she trusted her mother she sometimes questioned her action.
"My dear Twilight, there is more to a young pony's life than studying," read Spike.
Yeah, like politics sarcastically thought Aurora.
"So I'm sending you to supervise the preparation for the Summer Sun Celebration in this year's location: Ponyville, and I have an even more essential task for you to complete: make some friend" finished Spike has he looked to a less-than-pleased Twilight.
Definitly something she needs
"Look on the bright side, Twilight.The Princess arranged for you to stay in a library, doesn't that make you happy?" suggested Spike.
"Yes, Yes it does, you know why? Because I'm right, I'll check on the preparation as fast as I can, then get to the library to find some proof about of Nightmare moon's return."
That's great and all but I need a cloud tought Aurora has she looked around and finally found a cloud with a rainbow-haired pegasus sleeping on top of it.
"Hey you." The cyan mare opened one eye and looked to the one who called her.
"Yeah?"
"You mind if I take some of your cloud?"Asked Aurora
"Go ahead." Replied the cyan mare.
After taking some cloud Aurora went to Twilight's position.
"Wasn't that Princess Aurora?" she smirked at the mare who finally realized who she was talking to,but didn't look back and focused on the lavender mare.
"Maybe the ponies in Ponyville have interesting things to talked about, come on Twilight just try." Said Spike while a pink earth pony walked to them.
"Umm... hello." Said Twilight, a little hesitant, but the pink mare just let out a long gasp and ran at an incredible speed. "Well that was interesting alright," she said has they went to Sweet Apple Accre, unaware of the princess that just witnessed everything.
Aurora's POV
"Just as I thought." I whispered to myself, I knew it would end like this, poor Twilight meeting a pony that is just as weird as her but not in the same way. I followed them toward a farm where I saw a earth pony kicking some trees.
"Good afternoon my name is Twilight Sparkle." Before she could say anything else, Twilight was interrupted by the farm pony giving her a firm hoofshake.
"Well howdy-doo Miss Twilight, a pleasure makin' your acquaintance I'm Applejack. We here at Sweet Apple Acre sure do like making new friend." Said Applejack while releasing Twilight's hoof. "So, what can I do you for?"
"Hem-hem, well I am in fact here to supervise the preparation for the Summer Sun Celebration, are you in charge of the food?" Asked Twilight.
"We sure as sugar are, would you care to sample some?"
"Well long as it doesn't take too long." Twilight was interrupted when Applejack ringed a triangle.
"SOUP'S ON EVERYPONY." yelled Applejack.
I was suprised that in a matters of second Twilight and Spike where already placed at the table, surrounded by ponies.
"Now, why don't I introduce y'all to the Apple family?"
"Thanks, but I really need to hurry-"Twilight was once again interrupted when Applejack started to introduce her family, her whole family.
Meanwhile, I was getting bored it's not that I don't like Twilight but this "mission" wasn't really exciting, I slowly lost focus on their conversation and remembered the times of my real missions like infiltrating a fort or capturing a high-valued target.
I quickly shook my head, I needed to stay focused.
15 minute later...
As I was watching Twilight going to check the pony taking care of the weather I noticed something coming at her at a great speed but before I could do anything it crashed right into her, sending them both in a puddle of mud and I saw that the thing that crashed on her was the same pegasus who gave me a part of her cloud.
I need to be faster, had this been a real threat Twilight would have been injured. I berated myself.
After making rain a cloud on Twilight the pegasus made a small tornado to clean her up, giving Twilight a funny mane.
"Let me guess you're Rainbow Dash?" Asked Twilight at the still laughing pegasus.
The mention of her name made her stand up."The one and only," she proudly said has she starded to flap her wings."Why. You've heard of me?" She asked.
"I heard you're supposed to be keeping the sky clear," replied Twilight,letting a sigh."I'm Twilight Sparkle and the princess sent to check on the weather."
"Yeah yeah I'll do that, just soon as I'm done practicing," said Rainbow, napping on a cloud.
"Practicing for what?"Asked a puzzled Twilight.
Don't tell me she wants to be a Wonderbolt I thought.
"The Wonderbolt!" Exclaimed Rainbow, confirming my suspicion "They're gonna perform at the Celebration tomorrow, and I'm gonna show'em my stuff."
Of course, I rolled my eyes, I had seen many ponies who wanted to be part of the Wonderbolt, but few were those that actually made it. I remembered my time in the Wonderbolt when I disguised myself as a pegasus.
"The Wonderbolt?"
"Yup."
"The most talented flyers in all of Equestria?" Asked Twilight.
"That's them."
Letting out a 'pff' Twilight said something that suprised me "They'd never accept a Pegasus who can't even keep the sky clear for one measly day."
"Hey, I could clear this sky in ten seconds flat." Replied Rainbow.
"Prove it."Said Twilight, narrowing her eyes
I quickly teleported my cloud and me behind a tree but I'am sure I saw Rainbow looking at my direction just before I teleported away.
Please tell me she didn't saw me I needed to stay undiscovered and it would be very hard if everpony know that Princess Aurora was in town.
I saw Rainbow clearing the sky in exactly ten seconds. "Ten. Second. Flat. I'd never leave Ponyville hanging."She said, chuckling at Twilight' shocked expression "You should see the look on your face, you're a laugh Twilight Sparkle, I can't wait to hang out some more." she said has she flew out.
Before I continued to follow Twilight, I was stopped by a voice.
"Hey! You"I recognised Rainbow's voice but she couldn't know who I was since she was talking from my back.
"Yes?" I asked.
"Ya think I didn't saw you back there spying on us? Are you a spy?"she asked me with a very clear suspicious tone.
"Yes I'am spy and you're not supposed to see me." I said as I turned around and she gasped when she saw at who she was talking, as I expected.
"Princess Aurora?! I-I'am sorry I didn't recognize you" Said the pegasus has she bowed to me.
"It's okay, you weren't supposed to recognize me." I gently replied.
"A-Are you watching over this Twilight girl?"she asked.
"Yes I'am"
"Why?"
"Can't tell."
"Oh,uh...okay, can I help you?"Said Rainbow
"Well, can you keep my presence here a secret?"I asked her.
"Of course! Don't worry Princess, your secret is safe with me." She replied.
"Good, now if you don't mind I've gotta go." I said has I flew toward Twilight with my cloud.
Some minutes later, Twilight and Spike had arrived at what seems to be the Town Hall and I found my first problem.
How can I watch over her if she in a building. I wondered, everypony would notice me if I entered with a cloud.
I sighed You know what? Screw this, this place seems to peaceful to have any sorts of danger so I'am going to do a little visit Celestia had told me to go visit the Castle of the Two Sisters when I can. Given Twilight's current predicament, I figured that I could leave her on her own for some time.
"It's in the middle of the Everfree Forest,you can't miss it if you're flying" I remembered Celestia's words, I looked around until I spotted the castle and headed straigh toward it.
As I landed I took a moment to inspect the entrance but didn't find anything particuliar so I entered. I was greeted by a large hall and two thrones at the end of it, one with a sun on it and crescent moon on the other. I stared at the two thrones for a moment, thinking of the two ponies who sat on them.
To think this is where both my mom and my aunt ruled Equestria together. Shameful how this all ended, bu hopefully today we can fix that I thought. I stayed fixated on the moon throne as my mind drifted toward a certain group of ponies, of nightponies to be exact, 'Perhaps I should pay them a visit.' I continued my visit until I came across what seems to be a library, a large library.
I know somepony that would be happy I reminded myself to show this place to Twilight after everything is done. I picked a random book called"The Crystal War" and sat down at a table as I began to read.
Some hours later
So this is what happened during the war between Equestria and the Crystal Empire,I wish I was there I thought,I took a liking to war during the Pony-Griffon War and I was more than ready for another one.
Aurora! I jumped when I heard Celestia's voice.
Mom!You scared me.I replied, a little angry.
Sorry for that, are you watching Twilight right now? She asked
Yes! Totally. I could hear her eyebrow rising.
So what time is it?
...
Of course,you're in my old castle are you?
Well...yes.I said, lying to her would be useless at this point.
Then please hurry up!It will soon be the time.She closed the link before I could say anything.
I went out and I was very suprised to see that the moon was already in the sky I really took my time didn't I? I took of to Ponyville, hoping I wasn't too late.
Twilight's POV
"...the stars will help in her escape and she will bring about everlasting night."I recited the old legend while looking at the moon."I hope the princess was right,I hope it really is just an old pony tale"I was interrupted when Spike entered.
"Come on Twilight,it's time to watch the sunrise."He said as he went downstair.
'Maybe Princess Aurora would have listened to me.' I thought, Aurora and I never were really friend but I knew she was constantly worried about the security of Equestria, perhaps more so than her mother.
Aurora's POV
I've managed to find a good hiding spot in the Town Hall and hid there.
The music went on and a mare, that I assumed would be the mayor, approached "Fillies and Gentlecolts, as mayor of Ponyville, it is my great pleasure to announce the beginning of the Summer Sun Celebration!" All the present ponies cheered at her announcement "In just a few moments, our town will witness the magic of the sunrise, and celebrate this, the longest day of the year!" she resumed.
"And now, it is my great honor to introduce to you the ruler of our land, the very pony who gives us the sun and the moon each and every day, the good, the wise, the bringer of harmony to all of Equestria."
"Princess Celestia!" She exclaimed as a white unicorn drew the curtains, only to reveal nothing.
"This can't be good." I heard Twilight say.
"Remain calm everypony there must be a reasonable explanation." Said the mayor.
I hope that mom is safe wherever she is
"Ooh ohh, I love guessing games is she hiding?" Asked the pink pony.
"She's gone!" Said the white unicorn
No really?I thought she was hiding. I sarcastically thought.
"Woooh, she's good." Said the pink pony, they all gasped when they saw a dark cloud coming from where Celetia was supposed to be.
There she is...
Suddenly, an Alicorn with a dark coat and a strange blue floating mane revealed herself from the cloud.
Nightmare Moon....
"Oh, my beloved subjects. It's been so long since I've seen your precious, little sun-loving faces."Said Nightmare Moon
"What did you do with our Princess?!"Said Rainbow as she was going to charge Nightmare, but Applejack grabbed her tail with her mouth.
"Whoa there, Nelly."
You either ask the question or charge first, not both Rainbow I thought.
"Why, am I not royal enough for you? Don't you know who I am?" Asked Nightmare.
"Ooh, ooh, more guessing games! Um, Hokey Smokes! How about... Queen Meanie! No! Black Snooty, Black Snooty-"Applejack stopped the pink pony by putting a cupcake in her mouth.
Thank you Applejack, that pony is crazy
"Does my crown no longer count now that I have been imprisoned for a thousand years? Did you not recall the legend? Did you not see the signs?"
"I did," Said Twilight, "and I know who you are, you are the Mare in the Moon, you're Nightmare Moon."
"Well, well, well somepony who remember me, then you also know why I'am here?"
"You're here to......to....." Twilight was too scared to finish her quotes and Nightmare chuckled.
"Remember this day, little ponies, for it was your last. From this moment forth, the night will last forever!" She said as she laugh maniaclly.
"Seize her, only she know where the princess is." Ordered the mayor as three pegasus guard charged the alicorn.
"Stand back you fool!" Nightmare then launched three attack spell at the guards, taking them all out.
'I doubt that they stood a chance against her.'
"As for you." Nightmare looked at Twilight and launched a spell at her.
