The March (Edited 2.0) (Prologue)

View Online

Vesperianus rode on his armored horse alongside the marching lines of 10100 men of the 9th legion, heading to Norwich. They were responding to a reinforcement request by the local garrisons about a massive uprising of the native populace.
"Keep marching men, it is not long until we reach those barbarian rebels in Norwich who chose to rebel against the might of Rome! We will free our fellow men trapped in their fort, and kill the rebels! It is time to show the rest of them to never to rise against Rome!"

"FOR ROME!" yelled the men down the line.
For 40 minutes the thousands of men of the 9th Legion marched into the dense woodland path which leads to Norwich, each legionnaire screening the forest line in case of the common ambushes that barbarians tend to use. Each minute feeling like hours to Vesperianus, as he is constantly darting between the front and back of the lines to give motivational words and to make sure that they aren't being ambushed. He hates forests, always in the way of marching legions and hard to ride cavalry effectively through, and perfect for barbarians to ambush a legion and quickly dissolve into the forest like cowards.

"Cheer up Vesperianus, we will crush these rebels, for they do not know we are coming"

"Oh Sentarius, you and I both know that even if they are unaware of us, they vastly outnumber us by the messenger's account. We will barely be a tenth of their forces. Not only that, but they know the land well and are known for using dreadful traps and ambushes. But we do have our own advantages. For what we lack in numbers we make up for in training, equipment, and power."
He emphasizes those last few words to push his point. Fully believing that these barbarians, although physically fit and numerous, do not have the coordination and tactical genius as the sons of Rome do.

"HALT!" A random centurion exclaims, stopping the marching line and every legionnaire raising their shields to watch the forests, waiting for an attack.

"What is it centurion," Vesperianus says while riding up to him, sword drawn.

"There is a line of oil here, on the road leading into both forests on either of our sides, I fear it may be a trap by the rebels."
Vesperianus ponders on this, should he march his men through it and may get his forces trapped in a ring of fire, or worse, set on fire themselves. Or spend precious time finding a route around the fire or to scout ahead and wait for a response, in which an army could approach or the garrison at Norwich could fall.

"We shall continue marching, but we need to be on our guard, for we are in enemy territory now. This may well be a trap by the rebels. MEN! CONTINUE MARCH, BUT BE CAUTIOUS, NOTE IF YOU SEE ANYTHING, BETTER SAFE THAN DEAD!"

"YES SIR!" the whole army yells back in response, drawing swords and spears and continuing the march, all weary of the large oil trail leading into the woods. It spans many men wide, and who knows how long it leads.
As each man marches over the oil trail, Vesperianus gets a little more nervous, for who would leave a trail of oil in the forest for no reason, and what purpose does it have. While these thoughts are going on in his head, the last few soldiers and cavalrymen cross over the oil trail. And for a few seconds, the tension of crossing the line eases off of the Legionnaires and Auxiliaries. That is until it is set alight and a large fire erupts behind them, spreading to the sides of the forest where the two trails turn in the same direction, and head to the front of the army, which then encircles the 9th legion in a rectangle of fire. As if on cue, which it was, the rebel army surround the army behind the fire, chanting and shouting insults and rocks to the soldiers as each forms a defensive shield wall along the line, protecting the auxiliaries in the middle. As the rebel shouts die out, they start chanting, much to the Romans' confusion.

"Commander, are they chanting?"

"I believe they are, for what reason I do not know but be prepared for them to charge."

"Sounds like they're performing a ritual of some sort"

"A ritual?" Vesperianus asked the Legionnaire who said the previous sentence.

"Yes, I recognize a few words they are speaking, I've made witness to many rituals of their people, but none like this. The only words I can recognize are "fire", "magic", and "destroy"."

As the chanting quieted down, the rectangle of fire began to shrink, causing panic amongst the Roman soldiers, as they realized this was not just a show. They planned to burn the Romans alive. As the rectangle got smaller and smaller, the Romans had to cluster closer and closer together, leaving the cavalry auxiliaries outside the defense of the infantry's shields. And much to the horror of everyone, when the fire reached the cavalry, they burst into flames, quickly burning them before they can scream, along with their horses, leaving nothing but ash where they once stood. Panic soon set in among the remaining troops, as the rectangle of flames engulfed more cavalrymen, and slowly encroached on the infantry. Each walked backward until each soldier was pressed against each other, tightly packed trying to get away from the flames, but the flames did not stop. As the first lines of Legionnaires were engulfed, many panicked and attempted to jump through or over the flames, only to have the same result. The cries of the dwindling Roman troops were met with a loud cheer amongst the Rebels, as the last few soldiers were finally engulfed by the flames, leaving only ash in their wake.

Meanwhile, in another world known as Equis, an Experimental spell is in the works of being made...

"Brown Everfree leaves... check. Potion of healing... check. Multiple colors of enchanted chalk... check... Okay, that seems to be everything we need for the spell." Princess Twilight Sparkle announces as she lists the materials needed for an experimental teleportation spell.

"So, Twilight, is thou sure that this spell will work, and not have any side effects or backfire?" asks the princess of the night, Luna.

"I'm sure it's fine. After all, Starswirl the bearded thought of it, and he has yet to be wrong"

A few human slaves make a large circle with white chalk on the floor of the throne room, with two guards watching them. As they finish they begin drawing a smaller circle within the larger circle, this time with red and yellow chalk, half red, half yellow. Then two more human slaves start arranging the leaves, equally spaced in between the larger circle and smaller one while Twilight enchants the leaves after they are placed.

"Alright, now pour the potion in between the leaves. No, you're doing it wrong! I said in between the leaves, not on them!" Twilight yells at the young male slave who accidentally poured the potion over the leaves. He realized his mistake too late as the guards seize him and throw him in the middle of the circle.

"Well, we know who one of the 'volunteers' for the spell is." a guard chuckled as he stepped out of the circle, staring daggers at the terrified human.

Twilight sighs and asks a servant to get another potion as they finish arranging the leaves and potions. Soon, though, two other unlucky humans are chosen to be test subjects along with the original one. Each one terrified at what might happen if the spell fails. What gruesome death they may have if said spell failed, they thought about, much like any other unfortunate human who was chosen to partake in risky magical tests or simply used as lab rats for experiments.

"Alright, I think that's it. This should work and teleport them to Manehatten. Luna, the other teleport symbol is ready over there correct?"

"Yes, I just received a message from Celestia that she has, and is awaiting for the teleportation spell to occur."

"Great, now let's get this started, everypony get back, this may be dangerous," Twilight exclaims as she reads the experimental spell in the book she has.

"Alright, then I think I got these down, ready everypony?"
A series of "Yes' " come from the guards and Luna, and a few weaker "yes ma'am's" came from the poor humans. Twilight then starts casting the spell, focusing heavily on casting the spell, speaking the enchantments directly from the book as her horn grows brighter to charge up the spell. As she does so, the chalk begins to glow and the leaves float in mid air. With the potion beginning to evaporate, and the red vapor circulating around the inner circle, the three terrified humans await what terrible fate that may have been cast into. The spell seems to be working, and the humans start to teleport, but then Twilight finishes casting the spell, everything suddenly stops. The leaves fall, the vapor vanishes and the glows dims to nothing.
"What? it didn't work! But... we did everything ri-"
Twilight is suddenly cut off by a massive bright flash coming from the middle circle, and the screams of the humans vanishing as well. Surprising everyone as the flash is launched out of the throne room through a, now smashed, window. Meanwhile, every unicorn in Equestria feels their magic draining, surprising everyone as the bright light soars through the air and smashes into Whitetail Woods. Draining all the consumed Magic and activating the massive teleport spell... Teleporting a certain 9th legion from earth, into the world of Equis...

The Legion and The Ponies (Edited)

Pain... Pain was all Vesperianus could feel. His whole body ached as he lay on the soft grass, trying to fall asleep to rid himself of the pain. When he remembers everything that happened... The Rebels... The fire... The ash... It was enough to jolt him awake. He quickly sat up and looked around to see his legion, scattered and laying on the ground. Even the horses from the cavalry were asleep, and everyone around him looked somewhat... different. But that did not matter, as he had to get his legion up in order to find out what is going on. And more importantly, where they are, for the trees are definitely not native to eastern Britannia. As he stares at the trees, a few groans from some Auxiliaries and Legionnaires who are just waking up take his mind back to his original thoughts.

"WAKE UP MEN!"

Just as he expected, many of the men instantly bolt awake by the stern voice of their commander. He felt a hint of joy at the sight of their discomfort of just waking up but, he cannot enjoy it for long, as he needs to give orders.

"Alright men, wake up anyone who is still asleep and fall in line right here, and tell the cavalry to make sure their horses are still alive." His orders reverberated through the empty forest as it turns from silent to a frenzy of soldiers. They rushed around to find their cohorts and line up with their comrades, as well as help those who are just waking up, along with the Cavalry who are trying to wake their horses.

"This will do, I guess. Now, does anyone know where we are, and what the hell happened with those rebels." He is met with instant silence.

"Well?! Nobody?"
One Centurion walks up from his cohort

"Well sir, from what I understood from their... chanting, it appears they were doing some sort of ritual to, and I quote, "Take the invaders far away." sir." The centurion then steps back in line as the army stays silent.

"Hmm... Then... that means we may be in a different part of the world. And can someone please wake up my horse." Vesperianus bellowed irritatedly, as an archer runs up to attempt to wake the horse.

"Now I wa-"

"Nuu, five more minutes" the horse complained as it lay on its side... and to the shock of every soldier within earshot who now looked at the horse as if it had 3 heads. Which it might as well have had.

"Did the horse just talk!" yelled the archer who tried to wake it up.

"Ugh, I can't sleep with all this noise, guys" horse #1 bellows as it gets up on all fours. "I can't even get some sleep after marching with an armored guy on my back... What, is there something on my face?"

As the Horse #1 attempts to turn around to see the nonexistent item on its face, the whole Legion stands stunned. The horse just talked, and is prancing around right in front of them. At this time a few of the light-hearted recruits and Auxiliaries faint, while the rest all look at each other and whisper.

"I guess there's nothing on my face. So, Vesperianus, what are we doing next?"

"I-I uh... you... you talk!" stammers Vesperianus in a panicked tone.

"Huh. I guess I can. Finally, I can voice my opinion!... Wait, where are we, weren't we just engulfed in flames?"

"That is what we're trying to find out... And, well... You started talking..." Vesperianus replies slowly, as he is still trying to wrap his head around how his bloody horse can talk now.
And to add more confusion, the rest of the horses began to awaken, each getting less and less surprised shock by the troops as they find out, all the previously mindless horses can talk, and can think like a human.

-One Cluster-Fuck Later-

"Alright now that we got the... horse situation under control, it's time we find out where we are and try to find any roads. So, all Cavalry shall ride in pairs.. or I guess quads, as the horses now count as a person. You shall scout around the forest to locate any signs of where we are and how we got here, while the rest of us shall gather any supplies we can and take count of how many of us were transported here... Well, what are you waiting for?! The emperor to come?! GET MOVING!!" He orders as everyone starts running to do as their told. Cavalry mounted up, in a much more awkward fashion than ever before, and the Auxiliaries and Legionnaires quickly start gathering their armor, weapons, and supplies, which was strewn about.
POV Change- Seranchi, Cavalryman, 9th Legion, Roman Empire.

"So, you remember everything we did, every battle we previously won, and everything we've said?" Seranchi asks his trustworthy horse, whom he has had for years.

"Yep, pretty much, it's kinda like I was mute the whole time and just now choose to speak. Also, aren't we supposed to look out for roads or something?"

"Yeah, you see anything?"

"Yes, we're walking on a road." States the sarcastic Mount.

"Ah, yes... well, let us go report it to-" Seranchi is cut off as his partner points out that the horses now have pictures on their flanks. Both with the SPQR symbol in between two olive branches.

"When did that get on my flank? I don't remember that being there." questions the horse.

"I don't know, but that's not important. Let's see where this road leads so we can finally find out where we are."

As the riders and horses continue to travel down the paved stone road, and continue to chat and ask questions about their steeds. After some time, they came across the edge of the forest, and what appeared to be a massive field of trees with red fruit-like objects hanging in the branches, and a small town far off down the path that goes in between the tree groves.

"Uhh, I think we found a town, but I can't say I've never seen trees and fruit like those before. We're definitely not in The Empire anymore." States Seranchi's co-rider. "I think we should go tell the Legion before something happens."

"I think so too. Come on, let's go steed, back to the legion!" The horses gallop back the way they came to tell the legion of the town and the stone path...

POV Change- Princess Twilight Sparkle, Princess/Scholar, Equestria

Meanwhile, on a train heading from Canterlot to Ponyville, sat the Elements of Harmony on their way to investigate the rogue teleportation spell that went awry.

"Alright, so from my calculations, the spell activated somewhere north of Applejack's farm, in the Whitetail Woods. Not only that, but a large amount of magic was drained to cast the spell, so whatever it teleported must be massive." Twilight states as she explains the situation to the rest of the Mane 6, with multiple degrees of emotion to the subject.

"I bet that whatever it is, we can kick its flank" Rainbow Dash proudly states as if she's boasting about the victory before it even occurs.

"Rainbow, we don't know what was teleported, it could be a mountain for all we know. In fact, the only things we do know are that whatever was teleported is in Whitetail Woods and that it's big. Otherwise, it wouldn't have drained so much energy from around Equestria if it was just a rock or a pony."

"Pfft, that's boring, I hope it's some awesome monster that we can fight, there haven't been any good adventures lately since you took down Starlight all on your own."

While the pair continues to argue about what the object that was teleported was, Shining armor steps onto the train and heads to the arguing duo.

"Hey, Twily!"

"Shining!" Twilight abandons the argument with Rainbow to go hug her brother. "What are you doing here?"

"Well, Princess Celestia wanted me here to help you find what the teleportation spell brought, and to protect you in case it is dangerous."
At that moment, a small group of 10 royal guards walks past the Mane 6 and Shining to take their seats farther down the train.

"Is that really necessary? I mean, we appreciate the help, but I'm pretty sure we can handle anything some dumb teleportation spell brought." Rainbow says to Shining, as both Shining and Twilight roll their eyes and Rainbow's overconfidence. "Besides, Twilight is a princess now, and she can just zap whatever tries to hurt us."

"I know that Rainbow, but Celestia wants to be sure you're in no trouble, and you're a princess now, so that means you always need at least a few guards nearby at all times." Shining says, informing Rainbow.

"What? Since when?" Twilight questioned, as she is not comfortable with always having guards around.

"There's been a few human revolts occurring in smaller towns. They've been put down, but many guards have been injured. We don't want you targeted, because once they get their dirty hands on you, they would actually have some leverage on us."

"Ugh, fine. But only because Celestia said so" Pouts twilight as the train heads into Ponyville.

As the Friendship Express pulled into Ponyville station, the Mane 6, Shining Armor, and the 10 guards he brought all step out into the town station. As the citizens of Ponyville watch the princess, and her entourage strides through the town, many bow, which causes a blush to form on the new princess. It's not until they reach Applejack's farm that they finally catch up to Applejack, who ran ahead of them to check up on the farm.

"Hey, y'all. Sorry for leaving ya behind, but I had to make sure Big Mac and Applebloom could handle managing the humans to pick the apples." Applejack tells the approaching group as she sits on one of the fence posts that surround the farm.

"It's alright Applejack, we know you're always worrying about your farm when you're not here." Rarity replies.

"Yeah, yeah, I know it's silly, but I just can't be away from mah farm for too long, it means too much ta' me," Applejack says while looking towards the apple fields, glancing at the groups of humans picking the apples in the distance.

"Geez AJ, enough sappy stuff. Let's go see what that spell brought into whitetail woods, now lead the way AJ," Exclaims Rainbow Dash with vigor as she does a backflip mid-air, "I really want to kick that monster's flank."

As the group collectively rolls their eyes, Applejack Leads the group through the apple farm and onto a trail heading north of the barn.

"Alright, this should be the road that leads to Whitetail Woods, ah know it by heart since it's the same road I use to travel to the farther apple fields. It's also the same road we use durin' cider season," Applejack politely informs the group and guards as she walks along with them.

"Hey, there's the entrance to the woods, and... what's that?" Rainbow points to two large brown dots far down the road, with silver and red on it as well. But before Shining can pull out a telescope they darted back into the woods. "What if those are the things that the spell brought?"

"Can't be, the spell was massive and those things couldn't have taken much magic to teleport, they were probably just some local wildlife." Twilight states.

"Um, Twilight, I don't mean to be rude but... I've never seen anything of that size in whitetail woods. It's usually just home to birds and small animals, not big ones like in the Everfree." Fluttershy shyly informs the group as she tries to hide in her sweater for suddenly being the center of attention.

"Well, what do you think it could be then? Another animal?" Twilight asks Fluttershy.

"W-Well... I've never seen any animals like that... unless it's a breed of big dogs." Fluttershy responds.

"Guys, we're wasting time! Let's go chase the thing and find out what it wants!" Rainbow Dash exclaimed before running down the path with the rest of the group on her heels.

"Rainbow! Wait for us!" Shining yells after the speedster.

Vesperianus was just getting the final reports of his scouts in order when Seranchi and his scouting party reported back.

"So, there is a road which leads to a town to the south?"

"Yes, it appears to be a farming village, but the farm has many trees of some unknown fruit."

"Hmm, interesting... Well, it is the only lead we have, go back to your respective squadrons and prepare to move out." Vesperianus orders the scouts.

After finally getting every soldier accounted for and everything that might be useful to them on hand, they lined up and marched toward the road. After getting on the road, Seranchi and 4 other cavalrymen volunteered to scout ahead to make sure no traps and ambushes lay ahead, and to see if there were any friendly faces around that may help them find out where they are. Soon Seranchi and the other 4 scouts rode ahead of the marching army, soon setting foot, or hoof for the horses, at the exit to the forest, into the direct view of the Equestrians.

POV: Equestrians.

*Five minutes before meeting*

"Alright, we're nearing the entrance to the woods, we should make it to the object before nightfall if nothing gets in our way," Twilight explains to the group as they finally exit the apple orchard. They then set hoof on the dirt trail that leads to the entrance of the Whitetail Woods.

"Hey, do you think those brown things we saw had anything to do with the teleported thing?" questions Rainbow as she hovers close to the rest of the group.

"Highly unlikely Rainbow, the spell was massive and had to have teleported a massive object, not just two animals." Informs Twilight in a matter-of-fact way.

"Ooh! Ooh! I know what it is!!" Yells The Pink One while flailing her right arm about as if she knew the answer to a question that the teacher asked.

"You can't possibly know what it is, Pinkie"

"Yeah I do, ITS TOTALLY AHUGEARMYOFHUMANSTHATWILLCAUSEAMASSIVEREVOLUTIONTOTHEENTERTAINMENTOFOTHERHUMANSTHATARECURRENTLYREADINGTHISSTORYRIGHTNOW! Or maybe just a big rock." Says The Pink One very, very quickly.

"Alright then... Well, let's just continue walking, I don't wanna have to try and find that out in the night." Shining said with light suspicion. He then directs the guards to march forward in a wedge shape in front of the Mane 6.

*2 minutes later*

"Alright, we're entering the forest, everyone stay close t-"

"Shining, we are perfectly capable of taking care of ourselves, plus there is nothing dangerous in these woods. And even if there is, I'm sure your guards could handle it easily, plus we-" Twilight is cut off by the sound of hooves striking stone coming closer to them, from down the road, causing everyone to look down the path.

POV: 3rd person, Omnipotent

As the Ponies look at the Romans as the Romans and their horses stop only 20 meters away, they both stare at each other in shock and confusion. The Romans being extra confused as to why there are horse-like beings with armor, spears, and clothing. Meanwhile, the Equestrians are confused as to why humans are wearing armor and riding a huge four-legged pony-like creature.

"What do I say," Seranchi mutters under his breath. "Uh... Greetings," He exclaims to the ponies, with confusion and uncertainty in his voice.

"Are those humans? And why do they have weapons and armor and... those weird animals?" Questions Rainbow Dash as the guards raise their spears and go into a defensive stance.

"Humans! Lay down your weapons and armor now, or else!" Bellowed Shining as he drew his sword out.

"You are not our commander, you can't order us around!" Yells Seranchi back at Shining. "And we will not lay down our weapons."

"So be it then! Guards, capture the rebels!" Shining orders his guards.

The guards run towards the Cavalrymen, spears aimed at them, but the Romans merely ride around them on their horses, all the while voicing insults and simply joking about how they can't even touch them.

"Ha, they can't even catch up to us on our horses," Chuckles one of the Cavalrymen.

Shining, seeing his guards' struggle, gets frustrated and shoots a stun spell at the nearest cavalryman, hitting him dead on and knocking him off his horse

"Holy shit, what was that!"

"AGH! Fuck, that hurt!" Hollered the cavalrymen who got hit. He starts getting up, and his horse comes back to help him

"Let's get out of here and head back to the legion!" Orders Seranchi as the cavalrymen gets back on his horse. Once he is ready enough to go, they start galloping away down the road, with a few magic bolts fired at them, but none hit.

"They're running away, I'll catch them" Yells Rainbow Dash who bolts after them before anybody could stop her.
Rainbow gets closer and closer to the speeding cavalry and manages to be seen by them.

"Holy shit, they can fly"

"Use your spears. Horses, lead us to the legion," Orders Seranchi as all of them turn around on their horses with their shields and spears in hand, ready to defend themselves against the flying menace.

And as Rainbow gets within spearing distance, she is forced to give up speed to dodge the thrusts of spears aimed at her and is forced to keep some distance as to not become a pony-kabob. Yet she sees an opening when one of the humans stumble as their horse jumps over a log, and rushes at him, grabbing him as he tries to stay stable on his horse.

"Agh, get it off me!" he yells as he is forced to drop his spear and shield in order to grab his Gladius to stab at the menace.

"You're not getting awa- AAHHH!" She is cut off by her own cries of pain as another cavalryman gets close enough to stab her side. That causes her to stop flying and fall to the ground in a heap.

"Thanks man, but I lost my spear and shield."

"No worries, we'll get you another one from the reserve weapons."

"Yeah, I guess I can, but we first have to report that these... things are aggressive."

"You're right, now let's get a move on!"
Meanwhile, the Mane 6 and guards run down the path in an attempt to follow the rainbow speedster.

"Ugh, I can't believe she flew after them. They had spears, they could kill her!" Shining voices to the other as they make a turn to keep on the road. That is when they spot the rainbow colored pony, bleeding on the ground.

*Gasp* "Rainbow Dash!" Yells Fluttershy as she quickly flies over to her long time friend to dress her wounds. "What happened?"

"Well, I w-was wrestling with one of the h-humans on their, OUCH, careful, on their weird pony monster things, when one of the buckers speared my side when I wasn't looking!" Groans Rainbow as Fluttershy attempts to cover the wounds with a few bandages she carried with her in case.

"We need to go back to Ponyville to get Rainbow some medical attention. We also have to gather the local guard to find these rogue humans and put them in their place!" Orders Shining as a guard picks up Rainbow to carry her to Ponyville.

"'Ah can't believe some dumb humans just went and stabbed RD right in her side. Those humans are gonna pay, and maybe I could ask Celestia if I can buy them to work on mah’ farm." Applejack disclosed with Twilight.

"I don't know, those humans seem more aggressive than the average human, and by the looks of their armor, they seem more intelligent too."

"Bah! They probably just stole some armor off of some poor blacksmith to play dress up, and just managed to get RD by luck!"

"Applejack, you know you shouldn't underestimate humans, remember when one overpowered Big Mac during that revolt a year ago?"

"They only took him down 'cause Big Mac was still recovering from his wounds that day. And yes, 'ah remember. Some the guards came in and ruined a bunch of good apple trees. Took a long time to get new ones."

"That's not the point Applejack, the point is-"

"HEY! QUIT SLACKING AND GET TO WORK!!" Applejack interrupts to yell at some humans picking apples.

Twilight didn't even notice they made it to AJ's farm until she shouted at the humans. She's always been against human slavery, seeing them as intelligent, but not getting the chance to prove it. Yet there is only a minority of ponies who don't like slavery, Celestia and Luna included, though for different reasons. The mane 6 and the guards rushed to the hospital to get RD checked in, and Shining to the local garrison to gather as many guards as possible to crush the humans.

-Meanwhile with Vesperianus and the 9th Legion-

"So, you encountered a bunch of multi-colored horse-like people... and a rainbow haired one tried to attack you by flying at you?" Vesperianus questions the returning scouts.

"Yes, sir. I know it's hard to believe, sir, but they do exist. We're not making this up, sir! They came from the town near the farm that we were heading to. They probably live there." Scout #1 tells.

"Alright, we'll send a small portion of the legion to check it out, while the rest of us make camp."
While this is going on, the 9th legion and Auxiliaries start constructing their fort in a large clearing off the main road by a few hundred feet. They use what supplies they have and cut down existing trees that surround the clearing for more room, and for building material for the fortifications. As this is happening, 1000 Legionnaires, 1000 Auxiliaries, 500 archers, and 500 Cavalry are chosen to head out and inspect the farm and town.

"Legionnaires, we will head out to inspect the farm and town spotted by our scouts just outside the forest. While our comrades build the fort, we will head to the town and find out where we are, and hopefully how we got here. Now MARCH" Yells Vesperianus to his chosen men, as they march down the long path towards the exit.

-Meanwhile With Shining and Royal Guards-

"Alright men, we have spotted a small force of rogue humans with armor and weapons, but there may be more. That is why I have called upon all of you to march into the Whitetail Woods and find any humans and bring them to justice!" Orders Shining Armour.

The guards cheer in agreement. When they start following Shining down the road out of Ponyville, local Ponies cheer, throwing flowers and yelling encouragements to the "Brave guards who are going to deal with those dumb human rebels" as some ponies put it.

"I bet they're just gonna run and we're gonna have to catch them like last year." Gloats one of the guards to another, joking at how many men that are deployed, just to take out some dumb humans.
Meanwhile, the Roman forces head down the same path the royal guards are treading, and with their current speeds, their meeting point will be near the Apple Farm's Entrance...

Battle of Apple Family Farm (Edited)

Vesperianus rode on, on his now Sentient, and quite talkative, horse, alongside his chosen 1000 legionnaires and 1000 auxiliaries. They don't know who or what lives in that town, and, according to the scouts, some humanoid-looking horse-thing with wings attacked them, so they wanted to be prepared. Soon they exited the woods and marched down the path that ran through the massive orchard of strange fruit. It flanked them on both sides of the road, with a fence surrounding it. Due to the width of the road, the cavalry on the wings had to fall behind the marching infantry, along with the archers, in order to avoid stepping into the artificial forest, just in case the fruit turned out to produce airborne deadly toxins or something. Soon, though, the Legion realized they weren't alone.
After marching into the Farm, they soon saw a large group of about 40 humans picking the fruit from the trees up ahead, and the humans, once hearing the loud synchronized marching of the legionnaires, looked at them with wonder and confusion.

"Halt!" Vesperianus yells as he rides ahead. He is hopeful that the humans here could tell them where they are. That is, of course, if they spoke the same language. "Greetings, do you know where we are?"

"Uhh. W-who are you?" A semi-young male human, presumably the oldest of the group, says as he slowly approaches Vesperianus.

"I am Vesperianus Legio Maximinus, Primus Pilus of the 9th legion," Vesperianus states as if he has recited it thousands of times before. But he then notices the 'clothing' these humans wear. They wear simple strips of cloth tied around their waists, and females around their chest, and look very malnourished. He can see their bones and they look weak and tired, much like slaves back in Rome, but in much worse conditions. He was always against slavery, thinking it wasn't right, but he was often alone in his arguments about it, so he usually never brought it up. But seeing this made his heart sore. "Why are you all so thin, and... so tired looking?"

"W-we don't eat much... we're not allowed to eat the apples.."

"Are you slaves?"

"Y-yes... all humans here are slaves. Don't... don't you know that?"

"I am afraid we come from a far away land, we don't know where we are. Where are we?"

"E-Equestria... More specifically Apple Family Apple farms near Ponyville."

"Thank you for your information. Would... would you like to come with us, we can protect you."

The slaves look absolutely astonished. Here, there is a small human army saying they can help them out of slavery, but... Is it worth it? Thinking back at all the bad things the ponies have done to them, dying for freedom seems a lot better than dying in slavery.

"Yes! I think we would love that. But, can you help us get the rest of us, there are many of us down south near the barn, still picking apples. I don't want to leave them!"

"Calm down, we will rescue them, in the meantime, we will have some of our troops escort you back to our camp. Can you walk long distances?"

"No, we're too weak to go long without collapsing."

"No worries, excuse me for a second." Vesperianus Rides to his men and explains the situation, grabbing about 40 cavalrymen to carry the slaves back to the camp on their horses. He then rides back to the slaves with those 40 cavalrymen. "Here, these men will bring you back to our camp, climb on the back of their horses and they will take you there."
Many of the humans rush to the horses, some needing help to get up, and most grabbing onto the cavalrymen for support, making it very awkward for them. But nonetheless, the cavalry sprint back to camp with the 40 slaves, while the rest of the legion continues to march down the path in search of the rest of the slaves.
Meanwhile, Big Mac is going to check up on the slaves the Romans just took, only to see an army of red armour-clad humans, armed with metal weaponry. He quickly runs back to the barn to tell Granny Smith and Applejack, who had just returned from the hospital...

-Meanwhile with The Royal Guards-

Shining leads the 1000 pony strong platoon of guards toward the apple family's farm. They were going to deal with those humans who injured one of the Elements of Harmony, and his sister's best friend. Armed with his trusty enchanted longsword on his hip, he proudly leads in front of the troops. The gleaming gold armor of the guards and his purple captain's armor glisten in the sunlight. Once they reach the entrance to the farm, however, their mood changes as Applejack rushes up to approach him.

"Hey Applejack, what's wrong? Is it the slaves?"

"Ah wish! Big Mac just came back and told me that at least 40 of our slaves are missing and that there's a small army of humans with metal weapons, who are wearing a lot of red, just like the ones that attacked Rainbow! They're heading this way from that path right now!"
Once hearing this, many of the guards gain confused looks, 'A human army? How absurd, humans can't even protect themselves without help from ponies, they can't form armies!' Go through many of the guard's heads.

"Are you sure it was a mob, not an army?"

"Well, Big Mac said they looked organized and professional."

"Hmm... Maybe this is more of a problem than we thought." Shining thought about the repercussions of having a trained human army face his own, but quickly dismissed them due to how silly they were. "Don't worry Applejack, we'll meet this 'army' and deal with them. Right men!"

"YES SIR!" Responds the troops.

"Now, Applejack, do you have a map of the area around that apple field we can use?" Asks Shining.

"Why of course ah do, let me get it for you," Applejack says as she runs back to the barn.

While the Applejack gets a map for Shining, the Legion marches ever closer to the entrance, all the while finding more human slaves. They are always taken back to the camp, each group giving information about the terrain, their captors, and a little bit of history about the land they are in. It shocks every legionnaire and auxiliary within earshot that the slavers are not human, but, as they call them, 'Ponies', who look like colorful versions of their horses, but on two legs... hooves... and with two hands, just like a human's, but covered in fur. Some have wings and can fly, while others have a horn on their head and can use 'magic', as the slaves say. There are also others with neither ability, but are instead stronger than the others. While the legionnaires look straight on with faces of neutral expression, each of their minds swirls with thoughts such as, 'That isn't possible' or 'This can't be real', and even 'Are we even on earth anymore?'. By now about half the cavalry have gone back to the camp with rescued slaves on each horse, leaving the small legion with 250 cavalrymen left. Yet they continue to march down the path towards a red barn in the distance.

"Alright men, we will find those poor souls and rescue them. Now kee-" Vesperianus is interrupted by a centurion next to him.

"Sir, there is something over there. It appears to be a group of... armored men I think. It looks like they are wearing white and gold from here."

"I see... let us see who they are. Now keep marching men."

Eventually, Shining hears the sound of synchronized marching, along with few yells before he saw the Red-clad humans marching towards them. They look fierce, as if they know how to fight. And the fact that they march in sync with each other, something that is difficult to do with an unorganized mob, only furthers his fears. Shining has second thoughts about these humans, and their capabilities, but ultimately thinks that no matter what the humans throw at them, the guards will win the day. Soon the legion stops about 50 yards away, all with large rectangular shields, and some even ride the strange four-legged pony-like beasts, just like the ones that attacked Rainbow. Though they are behind the main armored humans in front, so most of the guard do not see them. The two forces stand there at the ready, looking each other over and trying to find any weakness or sign that the other is scared. A minute of near-awkward silence passes between the two when finally Vesperianus rides up to the front lines and dismounts his horse. He walks halfway between them and the ponies. Shining gets the idea and motions for his guards to stay put as he walks toward the human leader.

"I would like to know what you humans are doing wearing armor and wielding weapons. And not only that, but also attacking one of the Elements of Harmony?" Shining states to the human leader.

"What do you mean by that? Are we not allowed to wield our own weapons? And for attacking an 'element', I'll assume you are referring to your blue... flying 'pony' and my scouts. I would like to state that she attacked first."

"I do not care that she attacked first, humans are not allowed to have weapons of any kind. Where did you and your 'army' escape from?" Shining snarls at Vesperianus.

"I do not understand what you mean, we did not 'escape' from anywhere, we-"

"Bull-spit, all humans are slaves, and nothing more. I don't care where you came from. All I know is that your so called 'army' is a threat to Equestria, and we will end your pitiful 'rebellion'!" Shining interrupts and draws his sword. "I recommend you surrender now or else!"

"We will never surrender to you!" Vesperianus says while drawing his own gladius from its sheath and staring down at Shining.

The two armies suddenly realize that diplomacy isn't going anywhere and ready their weapons. The legionnaires create a shield wall with their massive shields, and draw forth their swords, while their EQ Guard counterparts hold their halberds in two hands, and lower them towards the Legion. The archers grab arrows from their quivers, mages prepare spells, the Roman cavalry prepares to ride around the guards. But neither side dares to make the first move. Then Vesperianus starts slowly walking backward towards his lines, realizing how vulnerable he is without a shield. Shining realizes this, too, and, capitalizing on his longer sword, swings it at Vesperianus. Catching him off guard he manages to get a slice on his left arm. Now the two sides are ready to fight.

Vesperianus runs back to his men and grabs his shield and gets on his horse.

"Men, prepare to throw your pilum!" Vesperianus yells the order as he climbs on his horse and rides behind the front lines. Soon each legionnaire is grabbing one of their two heavy throwing javelins. They prepare to throw them, with the Equestrian guards look at them, confused, as they never seen this tactic before, throwing javelins, as it has never been effective for anyone before. That was, until the Legion unleash their massive volley of over 300 javelins from the closest legionnaires to the front, towards the Equestrians, wreaking devastating havoc as the javelins easily pierce the enchanted golden armor of the guards, killing or brutally injuring over 200 of those in the front-line as the Pilum impale them, and bend in their bodies. With the guard's lines in chaos, the Legionnaires bring out their swords and prepare a charge after the archers fire a few volleys of arrows, which have limited effect due to some sort of shield being cast on top of the Equestrian lines after the first volley. After they are finished, the frontlines of the Legion charge, shields raised and swords ready to stab.

With the Equestrian lines all in chaos from the pilum and arrow attacks, the phalanx-like formation is not ready to be charged by the time the Legion smash into them, stabbing and smashing their shields into the ponies, the long halberds which the guards use cannot be wielded due to the close, face to face fighting. Many unicorns attempt to use magic to shoot bolts at the legion, but most, if not all, were blocked by the shields, and any pegasus that flew above to try and dive bomb or flank the Legion were quickly shot down by the archers behind the front. Soon the lines of the Equestrian guard began to waver, as more and more guards are either killed or too injured to get up from where they lay on the ground, and they start to retreat. Shining, doing his best to keep the moral up, and even brought up the shield that protected them from arrow fire, could not stop the retreat. Soon the guards were running headlong back to town, with only a few still holding their halberds, and most covered in the blood of their comrades that fell before they ran.

As the Equestrian guards were equipped lighter than their Roman counterparts, they were able to run much faster from the one-sided battle, especially since they dropped their heavy halberds. But the Romans weren't done yet. As more arrow fire pelted the guards' backs, The remaining Roman cavalry came crashing into the guards from both sides, as they surrounded them, most were hacked to bits as the retreating column of guards split in two, those who were stopped by the cavalry, and those who got away. Shining was one of those who got away, and feared for his life, much like the other guards.

By the end of it, the battle lasted around 6-minutes, over 734 guards were either killed or wounded on the battlefield, and only 266 Guards remained to run into Ponyville. And as they ran through the streets, the Ponyville citizens, who were preparing a small parade in expectation for their victory, were shocked when the once 1000 strong guard force came back, bloodied and scarred, with only 266 remaining. As such, the ponies ran into their houses in fear of the humans marching on the town, and the remaining guards flocking to the Ponyville guard barracks. A.K.A. The east side of Twilight's Castle.

-Legion POV-

As the remaining guards were either killed, ran, or were captured, the Legionnaires and Auxiliaries cheered at their victory. And with only a few injured, and none killed, the battle had destroyed any fear they had of the Ponies, and any concern of whoever they are, as they just proved they could take it. But the celebrations were cut short by Vesperianus as he ordered everyone to get back in formation, gather the prisoners, and head back to camp, along with ordering for some cavalrymen to gather some of the fruit from the nearby trees as rewards. But it was all clear to Vesperianus, as he saw what this battle may lead to. He had just declared war on this 'Equestria' country that they were in. And not only that, but he didn't even know if he will be able to reach Rome ever again, as they seem to be in another world entirely. But for now, he saves these thoughts for later and joins his fellow legionnaires in chanting battle cries and celebrating on their way back to the camp. With about 43 terrified captured royal guards...

Canterlot Castle- 30 minutes after Battle

"-and that is why we need more humans for tests. Humans are the perfect 'Guinea pig' so to speak because they are so similar to us ponies that any medications and treatments that work on them, work on us. So, Princess, Do you see why it would be benificial to have the state provide Labratories and research centers with human test subjects?" Explains Pill Bottle, A Doctor from canterlot hospital.

"Hmm i may have to think about this, the cost of this will be high, especially with medical tests mortality rate." Celestia says to the Doctor who came to her day court to petition about having the state pay for human test subjects for various things. The problem is that humans arent cheap to buy, and with the mortality rate of most medical tests, it would take a massive chunk of money from the treasury. But it would help save many pony lives.

During these thoughts a guard bursts in, covered in blood and with a terrified look on his face.

"P-Princess!!"

"Dear Faust what happened to you?!" Celestia shockingly states.

"Ponyville! Humans! Need reinforcements!" The guard, Sword Scabbard, panicky states in a frenzy.

"Calm down, Calm down. Now tell me what happened clearly."

"O-Okay.. So about 30 minutes ago the local Ponyville garrison of about 1000 guards went to react to a rumor of a human army marching its way to ponyville. We went to investigate and discovered the rumors were true! There was a massive force of humans, all clad in very well made armor and large red sheilds, marching in unison towards ponyville. Soon though they threw these strange Javelins and killed hundreds in the front lines. The javelins bent upon impact so we couldnt throw them back, or worse, got them stuck in one of us! Then they charged...." Scabbard starts to shiver in fear and terror at reliving those terrible moments. Seeing his friends and Fellow guards cut down in front of him as he ran like a coward.

"Then what happened? Did you repel them?" Celestia asks.

"N-No.. They drove us back.. They killed hundreds and captured those who didnt die. We only had 266 guards come back to ponyville alive."

The whole room is silent as he finally finishes he telling of the battle. All guards in the room in utter shock at how humans, out of all species, killed 700 guards in what seemed like minutes according to Scabbard.

"Call all generals and captains then tell them to meet me and my sister in the war room, i feel this may be the start of something bad. Do not let news of this defeat spread, we do not want other humans starting to riot all across equestria."

"Yes ma'm!" The guards scramble to get the word out to the generals and captains.

"Scabbard, i need you to come with me and tell me and the generals everything you can about those humans, how they foungt, their equipment, weapons, anything."

"Yes mam.."

Meanwhile With Captain Shining Armor.

Shining is busy regrouping the remaining guards he has to defend the town for the Siege of Ponyville. The townsfolk and many of the remaining human slaves in the town are busy setting up wood walls and palisades while keeping an eye out for a large group of red. As minutes go the guards and citizens of ponyville are confused as to why the humans didn't attack ponyville yet. Their grateful that they didn't but wonder why.

"Why haven't they attacked yet? they killed most of our guards so we wont be much of a threat so why not attack..." Shining mumbles to himself while waiting for a messenger to come back from Canterlot. Soon though a large group of 100 carriages pulled by pegassi land in town. Each carrying 3 Guards each, along with the 2 pegassi who pulled the carriage.

"Where is Captain shining Armor?" One of the Sargents asks.

"Right here, what do you need?"

"The princess' are ordering all captains and generals to be imminently transferred to Canterlot and head to the war room. Get in the carriage and go." The Sargent exclaims.

"Alright then. Thank you and be careful, these humans are tougher than they might look." Shining warns

"Their just humans, your guards were just recruits they were probably just panicked at their first battle. Lets see how these human rebels fair against veteran guards."

"Just be careful" Shining tells him as he boards the carriage to head to Canterlot.

5 Minutes later in The Canterlot Castle war room.

About 30 of Equestria's finest generals and Captains are seated around a table with a map of equestria on it. All telling stories of past victories and boasting about accomplishments that were very over exaggerated for glory. None of them knowing why they have been summoned and most not caring. For most have been bored at doing nothing but paperwork and overseeing training of recruits and guards. Most of the Ponies in attendance have never even seen a battle, most being nobles who decided to enlist for bragging rights and to seem braver for the mares or their wives. Being nobles, they were immediately promoted to officer ranks.

As everyone talks a door opens and enters Celestia herself, which quiet downs all conversations as she takes a seat at the far end of the table.

"You may be wondering why i have summoned you all here, as we have not had a conference of the generals since the Return of Tirek. So you may know that this is serious." Celestia says while looking over the faces of everyone in attendance. "I will now let Captain Shining Armor Explain the situation at hand, Captain, please enter." Celestia says, using her magic to open the doors to reveal a lightly bloodied Shining in dented armor and a few battle scars. Shocking most of the ponies seated at the table, with only the more experienced ones keeping their poker faces on.

"What in Equestria's name happened to you?" Exclaims a random Noble.

"Well" He takes a seat next to Celestia "I was going to investigate the massive magical teleportation spell that backfired a few hours ago along with Princess Twilight and a small squad of guards along with us. When, as we were about to enter Whitetail woods, we saw about 3 humans on some strange 4 legged pony like creatures, and the humans were wearing some strange armor with red highlights-"

"Pfft, some humans, whats the problem" Prince Blueblood says.

"Let me finish, Anyways skipping a bit of time, Rainbowdash, who was with us, tried to attack them and was stabbed in the side by one of the humans with a spear." Cue Gasping Nobles " So after taking her to the hospital i organized the Ponyville guards to crush the humans so they do not start a rebellion. As we marched to Apple Family farm we waited there for a map of the trails through it when we saw a large human 'army' marching towards us, all wearing silver armor and large red shields."

"I still do not see the problem, just crush this petty uprising like the last one." Blueblood says. All the while rolling his eyes.

"Blueblood! Silence!" Celestia yells at her nephew.

"As i was saying, we did try to crush them, but they weren't some simple human slaves who stole some armor. They were organized and very good at fighting. We lost over 700 Guards from 1000 and we dint even harm 1." Shining exclaims the last part to emphasis his point.

The room was silent. Even blueblood. The fact that a majority of a 1000 strong guard army was wiped out in one battle. And by humans. As the everyone looked each other in silence.

"Now. What do we do. We know they have at least 1000 human soldiers. Apparently well trained and fully armored. we know they came from the whitetail woods, which is where the spell landed. I believe the spell brought them here, for, from what Captain armor told us, They are well trained and good at fighting, which can only come from years of battle experience that a simple rebel group would never have been able to have. Now i need ideas, how do we stop these humans from doing more damage." Celestia Asks calmly.

"Ahem. Well, i believe we can simply muster a much larger force of veteran guards from canterlot and simply crush these humans and beat them with numbers. It would take no longer than a few days." Blueblood explains.

"I'm not sure that's a good idea, we don't know exactly how many there are or if they have hostages, we weren't able to tell if they killed all the guards who were simply injured or captured them. A full on assault would mean that many guards would be executed." Shining tells Blueblood.

"Well then we attack at night, and catch them while they sleep, they are only humans after all. Not only that but we have magic to teleport and make shields over any hostages."

"That's not going to work. I recommend we contain them before they escape. Surround whitetail woods and wait for them to run out of supplies or to attack our garrison, where we can simply divert our troops to surround them."

"Well those are both good ideas.." Celestia says while thinking 'some better than others'. "But we will settle this in the usual way, all who vote for bluebloods idea raise your hands."

A large majority of the ponies in attendance raise their hands, While the guards who have actually seen battle keep their hands down. Sadly the votes were 23 votes for BlueBlood and 6 for Shining.

Celestia sighs. "Ok looks like Blueblood's plan wins. Who do you think should lead the guards against the humans?" Celestia asks.

"Well i think i should lead the charge, obviously. For i have the most experience from the military academy" Blueblood says, while Celestia and shining roll their eyes. "I will start recruiting the best guards to lead a glorious charge against the simple humans.

Soon blueblood leaves and everyone but shining and Celestia.

"Shining. Please go with Blueblood to help him."

"Ill try to help, but I am not sure if he willlisten..."

Prisoners and Planning

View Online

Silver Sword was not having a good day. First he forgot to eat breakfast, Then he was called up to fight some human 'rebels' and not only did they completely obliterate his fellow guards, they killed many of his friends and worst of all took him prisoner. He worries about what horrors await him when they reach to wherever they are going. And worst of all he cant use his magic, Well he can, but the humans threatened to kill all the others if they found one missing, and no pony wanted to be responsible for the death of their friends and companions. So their arms were tied behind their backs and their armor removed, leaving them in only the undershirt and pants the guards were issued. They walked in silence, flanked by the red clad humans on all sides, and whenever one would slow down they gave them a 'friendly' prod with their swords. They soon entered the woods and for what seemed like hours, marched through it without a word.

"Psst Silver.. What do you think their gonna do with us" His fellow guardsmate, Spear Strike, wispered to him.

"No clue, they probably have some sort of camp or cave where they are based" He wispered back

"Quiet you two!" One of the legionnaires to their left yells at them.

"Sorry.." They both respond as they continue to walk in silence. Hoping that they may be able to see Equestria again.

After about 30 minutes of walking the legion and prisoners arrive at the Massive wood fort that the rest of the legion built in the small groups absence. Vesperianus rides ahead to tell the rest of the legion of what had happened, most believing it due to the slaves that were returned from the apple farm, About 300 in total. But those who still doubted they were in another world were quickly silenced when they saw the guard prisoners. Soon it was apparent that they needed a place to put the prisoners, so Vesperianus decided that a prison should be built near the tents. But in the meantime the prisoners were kept in a clearing surrounded by Legionnaires. But they were allowed to converse with themselves quietly.

"So where do you think their from?" Silver asks

"No clue, their definitely not just a bunch of slaves with weapons. That's for sure..."

"I just hope they dont kill us or worse.."

"Same here silver, same here... I already miss my family"

Soon the makeshift prison is completed and the guards-now-prisoners are put inside. With at least 4 legionnaires to guard them. But soon Vesperianus calls up his centurions to decide on what to do next..

"Alright now that we know where we are due to this map one of the 'Pony' guards had, we can tell were in quite a large forest in between the town of Ponyville to our south, and Vanhoover to our northwest, with a large mountain range to our north and east, Then there is ponyville just east of us and not much else around us, as everything else is farther away. Not only that but all humans are considered slaves, no matter what. Though we don't know how many countries are around this country named "equestria", and if they keep human slaves. I need ideas from any of you, so what do you got?"

"Well we could send scouts and raiding parties to the nearby farm to gather supplies and to rescue some slaves to bring back." One centurion says.

"We could also use the slaves to start making ourselves self sufficient, have them learn to make weapons and armor, farm the land etc. We would give them protection from the 'ponies'." Says another Centurion.

A few murmurs of agreement go around the makeshift table. Many thinking this to be the best plan.

"We must remember that we no way of contacting Other legions, or Rome, so we cannot get reinforcements. And the native population will have a massive numbers advantage, so staying in one place will be dangerous for us. They will find out where we are and surround us until we starve or surrender." Vesperianus says to the centurions.

"Then we must move, before the enemy can find us and strike them somewhere they wont expect, maybe even freeing more human slaves and train the ones we have to bolster our numbers slightly." The first Centurion states.

"Hmm that is a good idea, they will waste time searching for us here while we gather supplies by raiding other towns. All in favor of enacting this plan?" All hands raise "Then it is settled, we will uproot tomorrow and march south to 'Appaloosa' and hopefully catch the ponies by surprise."

The Centurions and Vesperianus exit the tent and go to give orders to the soldiers, While Vesperianus takes a few legionnaires and all volunteering slaves to train with swords and spears in case they need to defend themselves.

Meanwhile A Very large army of over 10,000 Royal guards arrive in ponyville, Marching down the streets of ponyville in a parade, bringing the spirits of the Ponies of Ponyville up higher after the defeat.

"Those humans are gonna get it, they cant possibly fight 10,000 of the best guards in the Equestrian royal army." Blueblood says, marching alongside shining armor in front of the column of the marching army. Showing off his eccentric armor and sword.

"I don't know, they were very organized an-" Shining is cut off

"Please, just because your leadership failed doesn't mean mine will."

Shining sighs and groans in anger but keeps a straight face. Slightly hoping that Blueblood would be hurt badly in the coming battle. But shining puts those thoughts away as he thinks of what to say to talk some sense into Blueblood's thick arrogant skull...

Another March

Japan- 1557. Warring states period.

Northern Japan....

Nagai Eizo Rode on his horse in the middle of his small army. Thinking on how weak his Clan has become. Weakened by his fathers many wars with their neighbors and by internal squabbles, His Once great clan is nothing but a shadow of his former self, only able to muster an army of 10,000 men, and most of which are simply Ashigaru with a yari spear or bow. Only about 3,000 of which are of the samurai class, armed with a Katana, bow, and Yari. And there are only 1500 of their famed cavalry left. Most being killed or fleeing in a recent battle.

But he can't think about this now, he still has 10,000 men ready to defend his clan from the invading force. Marching south to reclaim a fortress that was captured not too long ago by his long time rivals to his south, Seeing that the fort was only manned by 23 men he was not surprised that it fell within a day. Especially against an army that numbered around 30,000 men. He would be up against an army 3x his size and most likely battle hardened, as his enemy down south usually were.

He knows its a losing fight, but like many others before him, he will fight to the death. But maybe he can squeeze victory out of this certain defeat. He ponders about how he might do that, that he fails to notice that the sky, once covered by clouds, has opened up above them, letting in sunlight through. Many of Nagai's Men look up to see this and believe it to be a blessing that they might win this battle, that is, until the clouds start swirling. The whole army stops to stare up into the sky, wind blowing quickly and heavily, knocking some men who were off balance down. Even Nagai is ripped from his thoughts and looks up to question why everyone has stopped.

"What is going on?" One of his bodyguards to his left asks him, expecting an answer that nobody can give.

"I do not know, but I think it would be best to get out of here as quickly as poss-" Nagai is cut off by a massive thunderbolt striking the ground to the right of his army, and another, and another Bolt striking the ground. The men begin to panic and run in all directions, even some of the Samurai succumb to fear, but as the scar's of the lighting touching the ground begin to form a circle, any men trying to leave are quickly shocked to death by a smaller bolt of lightning, Stopping any other attempts to get out. The horses seem unnaturally calm though, even as these massive bolts land mere feet away from one, they seem to not notice, but that phenomenon goes noticed by few as the majority are too fearful of being struck by lightning.

Fear takes place in all the hearts of the men in the army. Each one flinching when another lightning bolt strike the ground to finish the outline of a circle around them. Then it all stops. The clouds stop spinning and lightning stops coming down from the heavens. Everything seems calm. Too calm. 1 minute passes and nothing happens, then 2, then 3 and everyone seems to think it is over. But when one man attempts to leave the circle, A Bright flash of light is seen, and everything goes white.

Later, when scouts attempt to find their clan leader and the army that was supposed to be defending their lands, all they find is a black circle in the ground on a road in the woods....

Canterlot, 20 Seconds later...

Celestia is working on the daily paperwork. Boring paperwork that she hates but must accomplish for the sake of her ponies. She simply does not trust the nobles to accomplish this for the good of their heart. But she is interrupted from her paperwork by a massive magic drainage, similar to the one that was caused not too long ago with he failed mass teleport spell. And in the same place. Her Quills and papers drop due to the magic being absent from her body for a short time. Realizing what has happened. Once her magic comes back, she quickly writes to shining and Blueblood about the the position of the disturbance, no doubt that they felt it.

"This is not good, not good at all." Celestia mutters to herself as she quickly writes a message to shining armor and teleporting it to him.

"I hope shining will figure out how to deal with this."

Temporary Royal Guard Encampment- Ponyville outskirts. Blueblood's Personal Tent...

"And that is why we need to be careful when we look for the enemy, send scouts, march slowly. So-" Shining says as he is cut off

"Please shining, i know you were promoted from a minor Sargent to a Captain but you must remember that i was at the top of my class in the Canterlot military academy. Which is no easy task if i do say so myself" Blueblood boasts annoyingly. "And not only that but Auntie Celestia put me in charge of this mission to destroy these pesky humans playing soldier."

"Actually the nobles put you in charge, not Celestia, and further more, they aren't just slaves with spears. They know how to fight and are organized. I had my doubts about them when i met them but that all faded when they slaughtered 700 guards and not lost a single one of their own."

"Please Captain Shining, they are just humans, and are no match for an army with a third of it made up of unicorns. Not only that but Ponyville's garrison were barely trained and simply conscripts at best." Blueblood Explains while shining his enchanted gem encrusted sword. "Also, they didn't have many unicorns or pegassi to assist them. So it wasn't very surprising when they lost."

"Look Blueblood, you need to see-"

"No you need to listen to your Commanding officer Shining, now please leave me be, My personal chief should be done with my dinner soon and i do not need you stressing me out more" BB Says with a huff.

Shining stands up to leave the tent when a massive Drainage of magic, Similar to the one that caused this mess in the first place, Sucks all the magic from equestria once more and Shining, Blueblood and many unicorns, pegassi and earth ponies alike fall due to losing their internal magic.

As Shining and many others stand up, Blueblood quickly Yells at shining.

"What in Celestia's name was that?!" Yells Blueblood to shining, Expecting him to have all the answers.

"I think that was another result of a failed mass teleportation spell that could've brought the Humans here in the first place... And if that first one brought those humans here... There is no telling what they brought now." Shining says.

Roman 9th Legion Fort. Middle of Whitetail Woods.

Vesperianus is interrogation a few captured guards, some of the more weak willed ones, with a handful of legionnaires to get useful information such as tactics, weapons and materials for armor. It is currently going well until the guards collapse and groan before standing up in a weakened state.

"What happened to them?" Vesperianus asks nobody in particular. "They look like someone just kicked them in the balls."

"Uugh this happened last night-" Guard holds in a vomit. "right before you guys showed up" The guard says before throwing up on the ground.

"Hmm so if this happened when we got here.. maybe it happened to another legion.." Vesperianus looks at his fellow Legionnaires and they look at eachother thinking the exact same thing. 'Maybe we weren't the only ones transported here'.

"Quickly men, we need some scouts to go back to where we started out. GO!" Vesperianus orders. Quickly the legionnaires go to get a group of 20 Cavalrymen to gallop towards the spot where they started out. Following the trail that the legion's march left on the grass and shrubs.

Vesperianus decides to not tell the rest of the legion about this, to not get their hopes up, and to avoid celebrations that may waste many supplies they have. Heading to his Personal tent to take a small rest, for this day has been more stressful than he anticipated....

A few miles from the Roman Fort.

In a quiet field, Reminiscent of a previous army waking up here and marching, leaving a trail of footsteps to a road not too far off from this large field. Its quiet. Too quiet. Soon, a magical lightning bolt strikes the center of a field as a mass teleportation spell transports a certain Army from Japan to this field. One Bright flash of light and out of nowhere 10,000 Men and 1,500 Horses appear, all unconscious and laying down but alive.

Minutes later They start waking up.. one by one wake up until Nagai wakes up, In quite a panicked way. Springing up only to see a mostly unconscious army surrounding him, with a few men of his awake and waking their comrades.

"Ugh what happened" Nagai says to nobody in particular, Grabbing his spear and sword that he dropped and goes to help wake up the rest of his army. But as he walks around he notices that there is a trail of footsteps leading away form here. Not only that but the trees here are completely foreign, nothing like the trees in Japan. He shakes his head and chocks that up to the fact that he knows little about plants. He has bigger issues, Mainly the captured fort and to find out what happened to them.

After 15 minutes of waking up the army in a hurried manner, the army is lined up in front of their Clan leader, awaiting orders. As Nagai is about to start ordering his troops he hears faint clopping of hooves coming closer, fast. The troops immediately get into battle formations as a group of 20 Men on horses, clad in red, ride into the clearing. They stare at the Horsemen as they stare back. Quickly the lead horseman speaks up.

"Who here is your leader?"

"That would be me, and who might you be?" Nagai asks the mysterious horseman.

"I am Seranchi, Centurion of the 9th legion, You need to come with us, quickly." Seranchi states.

"And why should we?" Nagai Says. Something about that title was familiar, but now is not the time to quell on that. "We don't know where you will lead us to, nor who your allegiances are to. How do we know you wont lead us into an ambush?"

"Because you need to know whats going on. What brought you here? A fire circle?"

Nagai was confused but slightly shocked as well. As this person also apparently seen something involving fire to bring him to this place. Similar to their experience with the lightning. Though that could only be coincidence. That or they could've seen the lightning.

"What do you mean by 'need to know whats going on'." Questions Nagai

"Look i don't wanna say it in front of the troops yet, they may panic, especially weak willed ones." Whispers Seranchi to Nagai.

"Alright i will trust you for now, But you will stay right in front of me, if we get ambushed, ill slice your head off."

"Noted, Now follow us." The horsemen slowly gather at the trail leading to the path.

Soon the Army of Nagai is in order and prepared to deal with an ambush as they march while following the Horsemen to a trail. While Seranchi rides along Nagai, Quietly talking to each other.

"So please tell me where we are." Nagai wisperes to Seranchi

"We are not on earth, that's the start."

"What do you mean by that? How can we not be on earth?"

"I do not know, me and my legion have only been here a day and we found out many things. but i do not know most of the details, My commander will tell you everything when we meet up with them."

"Fine, i expect answers though."

"You will get them, in time. By the way, i never got your name?"

"My name is Nagai Eizo, But call me Nagai, I prefer it shortened."

"My name is Seranchi, Nice to meet you." He holds his hand over to Nagai which he happily shakes with a smile.

"How long until we get there?" Nagai asks

"At this speed, about an hour."

"So about those details you were gonna tell me about...."

Equestrian Royal Guard Encampment

Ponyville.

POV Captain Shining Armor

Shining's morning was not going to well, Blueblood's insistence on a straight forward battle with them, The magic draining last night, The potential threat of another human army arriving from wherever the first one came from, and the fact that Blueblood doesn't bring coffee has made his morning a mess. The fact that he gets to spend time with his sister makes it slightly more bearable though. Currently Sitting with Twilight, Shining is enjoying a nice cup of coffee from Sugarcube corner made by ,a slightly less energetic, Pinkie pie.

"I swear Blueblood's talking is going to kill me faster than any sword or spell would. He wont shut up about his 'accomplishments' and how he graduated at the top of his class at the academy." Shining complains to Twilight.

"I know Shining, but you got to try to reason with him, we both know hes incompetent and has an ego bigger than the sun."

"I try but he is too stubborn, and its not like the troops will listen to me, they all adore Blueblood, they think he will save the day and magically give them victory. They look up to him and don't know how bad of a soldier he is."

"Just try, Use reverse psychology, it works for when i need to get Rainbowdash to do something, Speaking of rainbow. Shes recovering quickly though that spear did almost hit her spine, luckily it didn't and she will be able to fly by tomorrow."

"That is good to hear twi, Glad she didn't have anything serious. Anyways i got to go, Blueblood is going to give a speech before we march out. I gotta be there." Shining says as he stands up, scarfs down his coffee and starts walking back to the camp.

"Bye Shining"

50 Minutes later...

After Blueblood's long speech addressing the Equestrian guard army about what they will face and that they will have certain victory and bring honor back to the guard after their defeat the other day, The guards in attendance all cheered and shouted praises at Blueblood. Many believing he will lead them to victory against the rebellious humans. While others cheer at their chance to avenge their fallen brothers. As Blueblood walks off the stage and into his private tent, shining follows.

"That was quite a speech, i must admit, you do know how to give a rousing speech." Shining tells Blue blood as he enters the tent.

"Of course it was, i made it, and i did take many classes on poetry and giving speeches in my spare time. One thing they teach you in the Academy is, Keep your troops spirits high, then they will follow your orders blindly." Blueblood says back as he grabs a cupcake from a table.

"Well what shall we do now?"

"We march at sunset, and send pegassi scouts to find the army's location so we may fight them. Then we can surround them with our numbers while they are sleeping and capture them all."

"Okay, a reasonable plan. Kinda surprised that came from you, are you sure your blueblood?" Shining jokes

"Ha-ha very funny captain." Blueblood smirks "Anyways, get the troops ready, we march as soon as possible."

"Alright" Shining says as he leaves the tent to organize the army.

Meanwhile with Twilight and Co.

"So my the army is going to march into the woods by tomorrow to stop the humans, i sure hope nothing bad happens to shining" Twilight states to the mane six, all sitting in their respective seats around the crystal table in Twi's castle.

"Ah sure hope those humans get what's coming to them, Maybe Ah should ask shining that once they capture all them humans ah can use them to replace the ones they took from mah farm. Otherwise we wont be able to harvest our apples this year and well be in serious trouble!" Applejack complains "Ah cant wait to see the faces of those humans once shining and the guards bring them back in chains."

"Applejack calm down.." Fluttershy says. "Your overreacting, and Im sorry about what happened to your humans but i think its for the better" Fluttershy states, firmly believing that humans shouldn't be slaves and should be free.

"It ain't for the better, ah might lose mah farm without those humans picking the apples, we got a huge order for zap apple jam when the season starts in a week and ah cant harvest nearly enough zap apples with just me and Big mac. We will lose our farm!"

"Whats more important, a farm or the lives of hundreds of living beings!" Fluttershy snaps back at AJ

"Their just some dumb humans!"

"Girls stop fighting!!" Twilight Snaps "This is no time to be fighting. Now apologize to eachother!"

The room is silent as the 2 girls sigh. Aj swallows her pride and apologizes after fluttershy does.

"Now that you guys made up lets change the subje-" Twilight is cut off as the Cutie map lights up and the cutie marks of the 6 start blinking.

"OOOH where we going this time!" Pinkie pie says excitedly as all 6 marks are on the board. Moving towards vanhoover and floats above the city on the map"

"Alright Vanhoover, ive never been there before. I wonder what the problem is there" Rainbow Says excitedly.

"I wonder what it is as well but we wont find out staying here. Though its late, lets go tomorrow after breakfast then..."

Meanwhile With Nagai....

"And that is what we found out so far.." Seranchi finishes

"That sounds utterly ridiculous, if it weren't for the fact that we were brought here by a lightning storm forming a circle around us then i wouldn't even hesitate to say you were lying.. but this does still seem too ridiculous to believe." Nagai responds

"You wont have any doubts after we show you some of the 'ponies', as they call themselves."

"I hope your right, And is that your base?" Nagai says while pointing to a large artificial clearing About 300 meters ahead on the side of the trail.

"Yes that is it, let me ride ahead and tell my commander you have arrived"

As Seranchi rides ahead, Nagai's army slows down and stops in front of a small group of legionnaires guarding the road. The legionnaires admiring the armor and weapons of the Japanese and the Japanese Admiring the Romans armor and shields. Soon a large gathering of Romans gather in front of the Japanese army, each army trying to figure out where the other came from and who they are.

After 3 minutes of an intense stare off between the Romans and Japanese Vesperianus walks past his legionnaires and meets Nagai halfway between their two armies.

"Greetings, I am Vesperianus, Primus Pilus of the 9th legion of Rome. And who might you be?"

"I am Nagai, Heir to the northern province of Japan. Pleasure to meet you Vesperianus."

Nagai extends his hand and Vesperianus shakes it.

"Now that we have formalities out of the way, Why dont we have our armies greet eachother?"

"That would be a good plan Vesperianus, and while they do that i expect you to back up the claims your scout told me about where we are."

"Of course, follow me." Vesperianus leads Nagai towards the fort as the Legionnaires and Samurai merge and start talking to eachother...

Battle of Whitetail woods PART 1- The Siege

View Online

Midnight, Apple family farm outskirts....

As the marching of Gold clad Guards march down the streets of ponyville and out into the roads of Apple Family Farm heading to Whitetail woods, The ponies cheer them on, throwing flowers and shouting encouragements to their saviors. Soon the crowds disperse back to the town as the Army march further into the farm, the sound of synchronized marching being all that is heard as the guards make their way down the path. And as the final ponies head back to the town to rest, knowing their guard will protect them, the guards themselves look forward to this battle. To bring honor back to the royal guard after their embarrasing defeat at the hands of a bunch of humans. But they had learned from the battle, from the accounts of the remaining ponyville guards and Shining Armor, the humans used short swords and large sheilds, meaning their traditional halberd would be useless against them once they got past them. So the guards were all issued Medium length swords and small circular wooden shields with a thin layer of gold coating the front, Enchanted to increase its strength and resistance to piercing. They were prepared to fight. Even though most of the guards have never seen a battle in their lives, They remained confident in their equipment, their brothers in arms, and their commanders to win the day for them.

Meanwhile an Unimportant Roman scout is watching the guards marching from the safety and concealment of the forest. Watching as the guards make small cheers and act as a sea of gold coming his way to wash away his comrades. Soon he finds himself mounting his horse, who understandably complained about how rough the rider was at times, then riding off down the path deeper into the woods to warn his commander about the incoming army...

20 Minutes after Scout spotted the Guards. Roman/Japanese Camp....

The Previously Mentioned scout and horse thundered into the camp, waking a few japanese who are camping outside the fort, He quickly warns his Centurion who quickly rushes to the commander's tent...

"-and that is the whole situation and all we know, were going to have to find a way to get food supplies and-" Vesperianus is cut off by a Centurion Bursting in.

"Sorry to disturb but a scout reported that a massive army of 'Pony' Guards are marching towards us, he reported at least 8,000 Men but he says there are probably more." The Centurion says, panting while out of breath for running through half the fort.

"Seems like we must prepare for battle right now, I will gather my men for battle, then we shall decide how to combine our troops." Nagai states, standing up and grabbing his katana

"Centurion, Wake up all the men and gather them inside the fortress, i have a plan. Nagai, gather your men and......"

30 Minutes later.

The Romans Fall back into the fort, putting stakes at the base of the wooden walls and covering the outside with fresh branches and leaves to prevent the walls from catching fire easily. They wait, roman cavalry Auxiliaries hiding in the nearby woods to surprise the pony guards when they try to siege the fort. meanwhile the Japanese are nowhere to be seen, for their part in the battle will come later.

The Rhythmic marching of the Royal guards slowly grows from a faint sound to a roar as the ponies finally get a view on the fort in their makeshift clearing, still having a few stumps of trees on the outer edges. The guards slowly take position in front of the fort, forming up 200 feet from the walls and right at the forestline. Shining looks at the fortress and inspects it with his trusty spyglass.

"What do you see?" Blueblood asks

"Well it seems as though it is mostly wood, i see fresh branches and water on the outside walls so fire isnt a good option. Definetly humans though, i see their large red shields and... hold on their opening the gates..." Shining focuses on the gate as it opens and a single human on a horse rides out and towards the guard lines. The front guards lowering their Halberds in front of them and preparing for anything. But the rider stops short of the guards.

"Who is your commander?" The roman rider shouts at the guards.

"Why would we tell you?" a guard Spits back

"So we can possibly solve this problem without bloodshed."

Before Shining or Blueblood can respond many of the guards in the front line charge the rider, pointing their halberds at him. But the rider simply turns his horse and rides off back to the fortress. A few crossbow bolts missing him as the gate closes behind him.

P.O.V. Vesperianus

"Seems they chose to fight us" Vesp states to nobody in particular.

"Seems so, i shall prepare the archers." A Centurion to his left states.

"You do that, I do hope my plan works or else this fort will be our grave." Vesp says, overlooking his army preparing for the inevitable fight that is to come.

Vesperianus watches the equestrian army from a watchtower along with the archers that are stationed all along the walls. Looking for any weakness he might be able to exploit or any last minute changes that can be made to the fort for any advantage they can squeeze out of this situation. Soon though the enemy army starts marching around their fortifications slowly surrounding the fort from the treeline.

"Sir i believe they are preparing a siege!" one archer who nobody cares about states obviously.

"I can see that captain obvious." Vesper retorts....

P.O.V. Blueblood and Shining

"We should Prepare a siege and surround the fortress. They can only last so long and we can prepare to storm the castle in the meantime." Blueblood states while drawing new battle lines on a map of the area.

"Why would we need to storm the castle, we can simply wait them out and capture them when they run out of food." Shining states.

"We need a glorious victory for Equestria, expecially after the defeat at Ponyville. We need to have a glorious battle that shows that our guards are not weak." Blueblood tells shining while asking a soldier to bring him a cup of coffee.

"Why would we need to prove that?" Shining asks.

"Well if we simply siege the fort and capture them then the public will think that the guard is weak and can only sit around and wait for things to solve themselves. And then they will lose faith in the guard."

"That is actually a reasonable explanation, but we need to be careful, i propose we compromise, we wait them out for a few days and then attack at night."

"If that is what you think then so be it. This will be easy, its only a bunch of humans" Blueblood states while grasping his cup of coffee and walking back to his personal tent being erected. All the while Shakes his head at him for being so arrogant about humans.

Soon tents are erected all around the forest edge and guards are patrolling round the clock to make sure no bands of humans raid the camp or try to escape. Soon the equestrians finally settle in for the Siege of the human fort.....

Whitetail Woods.... POV Nagai...

As the night fell nagai can see the massive amount of lights in the distance around the Roman fort. The Equestrians besieging their new allies fort, but he must hope they can hold out for long enough that the plan can work otherwise they will be slaughtered. But now he must hurry, rushing his troops to marching faster but quietly so that they can leave without the Ponies knowing they are there.

"Sir i think we are in the clear, they probably don't know we even exist, As we have only been here for a day."

"Thank you for the update, let us hurry, just in case their flying ponies make patrols around here." Nagai responds to his sub commander

Soon the army marches farther and farther away from the siege. heading towards their objective that will take advantage of the fact that the ponies don't know the Japanese exist yet. Soon they slow down enough so they are not on a forced march and they wont be tired by the time they get to-...

Siege of Roman fortification... Day 5 of the Seige....

Five days have passed and the equestrians have yet to move in for the assault, there have been a few archer clashes but nothing important, and luckily no major injuries other than a few arrow hits and scrapes. Though the food situation is slowly going to become a problem since they did not have much time to stockpile food and they may only last 5 more days, 7 if they stretch rations. For the plan to work the Romans would need to hold out for at least a week and a half if the Japanese rush. but most likely it would take 2 weeks to accomplish the goal.

Vesperianus is torn from his thoughts when a centurion walks into his personal tent

"Sir one of our Gallic auxiliaries has asked if he could speak to you about a plan he thought of."

"Let him in, i could use any ideas at the moment" He says while setting up 2 stools in front of his makeshift battle map of the fort and nearby woods.

Soon the Gallic Auxiliary enters the tent and sits in front of Vesperianus.

"So you have an idea? lets hear it."

"Yes sir, i learned this from one of my tribes history long before the Rome conquered Gaul, a siege was conducted on a small fortified city and much like us they did not have many supplies to hold out, but they bargained some prisoners of war for supplies which ultimately saved them as a relief force arrived a few weeks later."

"So what your saying is we use the captives we took from the fruit farm and bargain them for supplies?"

"That is exactly what im saying, whether the 'ponies' will accept the offer i am not sure but if they do we might be able to hold out enough for whatever you and that other general had planned." The Gallic man says

"hmm.. that might work.. depending if they accept the deal, but no harm in trying. Go, get a few horsemen and tell them of this plan, ill get a few of the prisoners ready for the deal..."

30 Minutes later.. Equestrians POV...

"-And that is how we might be able to peirce the walls, and when the gate falls-" Blueblood is interuppted by a messenger bursting into his tent

"Sir! I am sorry to interrupt but you must see this, its the humans. they have 10 royal guards that were captured from the battle of ponyville and they have them in front of their fortress!" The messenger says urgently

"I think this can wait blueblood we must see what the humans are planning" Shining says while putting on his helmet and grabbing his sword as he follows the messenger to the front of the lines to see what the humans have planned.

All the Guards are watching as 10 of their own are lines up in front of their fort gate, wondering why they have them there and some thinking that they are going to publicly beat them or worse, execute them. but those thoughts are put on hold as a single rider rides up to Shining and Blueblood, guards raising their Halberds as the horseman stops a few meters away from their lines.

"Who is in charge here?" The roman horseman yells

"That would be me and him" Blueblood exclaims while pointing to himself and Shining.

"My commander wishes to make a deal with you-" The horseman is cut off by Blueblood

"We will not make deals with you human rebels!" BB exclaims at the horseman who huffs

"If you dont listen to the deal then one will be executed!" He exclaims for dramatic effect, hoping that that will change their minds about negotiating. And from the looks of their faces it seems to have worked, for many guards show faces of concern or horror after the statement.

"Now Blueblood maybe we should hear their proposal out.." He then whisperer to Blueblood, "i will not lose anymore Guards for no reason" he says to Blueblood

"Fine, tell us what your demands are 'human'" Blueblood says while saying the word human in disgust.

"We demand a large shipment of food for each guard." His voice yells out, with many guards silenced by the request.

"Hmm let us think about this-" Shining is interrupted by the Horseman

"You have 10 minutes to decide before one is executed, and by the looks of it, its the youngest one!" The horseman says while riding back to the gate next to his commander who puts the 10 guards on their knees with 10 legionnaires behind each one with swords drawn, ready for the order to kill in case it comes to that.

Soon the 10 minutes are up and the Horesman rides back to the equestrian lines.

"Have you made your decision yet?" The horseman asks Shining.

"Yes we have, we will give you the supplies in exchange for the prisoners!" Shining yells back, giving a few orders to his guards to get the crates of food ready.

"Good choice, and don't think of poisoning it, we will test the food on a few of the prisoners we still have to be sure you haven't tried any tricks!" The Horseman yells back, seeing the carts full of food being rolled to the front of the Equestian lines and orders his squad of horsemen to hook their horses up to the carts and roll them towards the fort. The equestrians tensing up and gripping their weapons tighter as the Humans approach mere meters away from them and take their food to the fortress. And as soon as the 20 wooden carts full of wheat, fruits, and vegetables go past the gates the Legionnaires on the outside of the fort with the prisoners release 5 guards, letting them run back to their equestrian brethren. But start bringing the other 5 guards back to their fort. Soon though shining runs halfway to them and yells to them.

"HEY YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO RELEASE ALL OF THEM!!" He yells at them angrily.

"Next time bring more food if you want to see them alive!" The Cocky horseman yells back while laughing to his fellow soldiers in arms as they go back into their fort and close the gates.

"We had a deal!" Shining yells

Nobody responds and shining's frustration only grows at the arrogance of these humans to go back on their deal like this.

"You will regret this humans!" He yells again at nobody in particular.

Soon though an arrow strikes near his foot and he recoils in shock and runs back to the equestrian lines as a few more arrows strike the ground near him, with laughing Roman archers on the walls who are presumably the ones who fired upon him. And as to taunt them more they raise the SPQR Banner on the 4 watchtowers on the walls.

"Sir are you alright?" A random royal guard asks his commander.

"I am fine... just.. fine!" Shining says through his teeth as he storms off to his tent.

Whitetail woods... Roman Fort, 20th Day of Seige... POV Equestirans...

"-So then once the gate falls we use our short-swords to charge in clear the fort. So once we capture the Humans we can finally-" Shining is cut off when a guard steps into the commanders tent.

"Sorry to disturb you but the fortress gates are opening and-" The guard is cut off by a massive amount of screaming and a massive amount of hoof steps storming past the tent, soon shining and Blueblood run out of the tent to see the entire force of Roman Cavalry storm pasts the tents and equestrian guards.

"Whats going on!" Shining yells as he draws his sword but as soon as he does all the horsemen have already stormed past them, thundering down the path away from the siege and fort, luckily for shining its not in the direction of ponyville.

"What happened?!" Blueblood yells.

5 Minutes ago.... POV Romans...

"So everyone got that?!" Vesperianus says to all the cavalrymen he has along with their horses.

"Uhh can you repeat that, i was in the latrine.." a random Horseman said.

Vesperianus sighs. "Ok so the plan is that you are to storm past the equestrian lines and regroup with the Japanese troops at the rally point. Try not to die during that" He says to the one Horseman.

After the explanation the horseman all mount their horses and gather their weapons, armor, and a few supplies ready and mount their horses as they gather around the gates ready to charge out of the fort and past the Equestrian lines, hopefully using the shock of them charging to minimize casualties.

The sun is already halfway set and the plan is for them to charge the area where the Equestrians will have the sun in their eyes as to make it harder for them to hit the horsemen.

Vesperianus commands the garrison to open the gates and the horsemen wait for 10 seconds, then thunder out of the gate, hooves tearing up grass and soil as the horses thunder out and turn slightly to the point where the sun is behind them. The thundering hooves of hundreds of horses wake nearly all the Equestrians nearby, but by then the Romans are already at their lines, the ones who were awake and equipped were easily slaughtered by the passing horsemen, the ones who just woke up simply stayed in their tents or behind trees as the thunderous charge of horses passes by, a few equestrians manage to hack at some horsemen but are killed before they can inflict any major casualties to both rider and horse. after 1 minute of thundering horses all the Romans made it past and head to the designated area they were told to go to.

"Wooooh we made it, BARRITUS!" One Horsemen yells, which is quickly picked up by the other horsemen until the whole column is yelling cries of 'barritus'....

Equestrians POV.. 1 Min after Cavalry Breakthrough....

"You let them through!!!" Blueblood yells to the large group of soldiers lined up in front of him. "After 20 days of this siege you let an army of humans on those... Things get through!! Now well have to have double.. no. TRIPLE the amount of patrols and Guards making sure we don't get stabbed in the back while we do this siege! And not only that! But well have to worry about them attacking any nearby Caravans or Towns with quite literally, 0 Ways to defend themselves!"

"Blueblood i think that is enough, we were simply caught off guard and weren't careful enough. There's nothing the guards who were patrolling could have done to stop them, there were simply too many and they were too fast. Don't blame it just on the Soldiers." Shining tells blueblood as he walks out of his tent fully armored.

"That may be so but there shall be no room for anymore failures, we will not be beaten by humans. We are the Equestrian Royal Guard and what kind of example would we make to the world if we were to be beaten by lowly humans, we would be a laughing stock to the world! Not only that but the ponies would lose faith in the guard to protect them, and if word gets out to the Human slaves then they would revolt, knowing that even the guards couldnt beat another group of humans who outnumbered them 2 to 1!"

"Calm down blueblood, your getting ahead of yourself. You wont think of anything useful when your angry like that. Now calm down and let us think rationally now."

"Yes yes.. I suppose your right again. Forgive me for my slight outburst. But for now we will need to triple the amount of patrols and guards awake at all times until we preform the siege or the humans surrender, which might be longer now that this plan of theirs has worked or at least is in progress. Wait! You two!" Blueblood points to a pair of pegassi guards. "Follow those Humans and find out where they are going and why! Quickly now!"

"Yes sir!" The two Guards yell out before taking to the sky and going in the direction of the Escaped humans.

"Good now that that is settled we can focus on fortifying our lines."

"What do you mean by that?" Shining asks.

"I mean we build a fort, Around their fort, to cut their other humans from the fort and to give us a defensive position if the humans were to try to escape again, or try a raid." Blueblood says ecstatically. "yes that is a good idea" He says to himself "You three! Start gathering guards to begin construction of defensive walls around the human fort!"

"Blueblood, while that does sound like a good idea we got to think carefully and pouring ponypower and Resources into this might be a waste of time or a fatal mistake if we dont think it through."

"Yet if we wait the humans might come back and strike us where we are weak and even take more prisoners or supplies to fuel their revolt. We must act now." Blueblood exclaims while ordering more guards to gather wood and tools.

"But Blueblood-" Shining begins but is interrupted.

"Shining must i remind you of who Celestia put in charge of this mission, not only that but that i graduated at the top of my class in the Royal Military Academy." Blueblood Boasts.

Shining sighs and shakes his head, knowing he cant convince him to change his mind or at least think this through. So he simply goes to fulfill his orders and build a wall to keep those humans out or in....

POV.. Nagai/ Japanese Army.. Location... Human Arrival site...

Nagai and his army have been waiting at this Clearing where they and the Romans have arrived in, hoping to find another Human army arriving or that have already arrived, but none came yet. Not only that but Nagai's lingering fear that his new Roman allies might be under attack at any moment and he would not know. So he frequently sends scouts to check up on the fort from afar, each coming back with the same information. That the Siege continues and nothing has changed. But the latest report indicates a change, The section of roman Cavalry have broken out and have come towards them, and gone past them, one leaving a written note from Vesperianus himself telling Nagai of his plan and not to worry about the cavalry, for they can take care of themselves in their misson to-

"Bushi Nagai, Something is going on!" A random Ashigaru says while rushing into his tent.

"What is it soldier! have the Ponies found us?!" Nagai asks in response

"No... The ground in the clearing... It changed color.. and there are clouds appearing overhead..."

"This is what we've been waiting for, tell everyone to get into the forestline and prepare for anythying!"

"Yes Sir!" The man leaves to relay the orders.

"Buddha give me strength for i believe i am going to have visitors to meet..."

POV Nagai/Japanese.. Location.. Human Entrance Clearing... Time... After Sunset...

Clouds start to gather around the clearing and the air around it feels as if its charged with energy, The troops of Nagai all rush out of the clearing into the woods where the grass is regular green instead of the Color that the grass in the clearing currently is. Soon Lighting bolts start dancing in the sky and the wind picks up, swirling around the clearing and making a vortex in the cloud. Most of the men in Nagai's army would claim to have been in awe at the sight, but most were cowarding under their armor. Soon the vortex starts to form a tornado like object but only in the center of the clearing, lightning dances around the tornado making it seem as if the tornado uses it as a spear ready to strike any infidels.

Once the 'tornado' hits the ground though, the lightning strikes the ground and the electricity kills the grass in a perfect Circle around the tornado. With 4 smaller circles around it and a a strange letter of some sort in each one. After 2 minutes of nothing else happening the Japanese think it is will be over soon, but once they think these thoughts a bright flash of light appears, blinding all who are looking and even those who were looking away at a butterfly like an idiot.

The Light fades after just moments of appearing and in the field, the grass returns to a green color and the clouds and lightning vanish in the bright light... and in their place is another army 10000 strong..

"Seems luck favors us today, now lets go see who these new arrivals are and see if we can wake them up... hmm.. that horse seems to have alot of armor, reminds me of a-

POV.. ???... Location... Georgian region of Lazica... Time.. 551 CE...

-"BYZANTINE CATAPHRACTS!!!" A Sassanian Soldier yells as a thunderous charge of horses in armor charge towards the Sassanians who are totally unprepared for the attack and are slammed into by the Byzantine heavy cavalry, men skeward on lances, sliced by swords, and shot by arrows as the elite cavalry of Byzantium. Soon the Infantry of the Byzantines charge as the Cavalry pulls back to go around the infantry and attack them from the rear.

The Sassanian Spear men, most who are lightly armored levied infantry, are no match for the highly trained heavily armored infantry of the Byzantines, Being so close to their own troops, the Sassanian archers were hesitant to fire their arrows at the byzantine infantry, until their commanders ordered them to fire, their deadly storm of arrows down upon the Byzantines and Sassanian infantry, dealing heavy casualties to their own lightly armored troops and only a few to the more heavily armored Byzantines. Screams of pain and death fill the air as storms of arrows pelt the Byzantines, that is, until the Cataphracts slam into the archers flanks, routing those of weak will and killing those who have the courage, or stupidity, to stay and fight.

Soon the Sassanian Cavalry comes to assist the archers in their plight but are shot and pelted by the Byzantine light Horse archers, who are charged at by a sizable portion of the cavalry, leaving only 60% of the force to face against the elite Byzantine Cataphracts who Already outnumbered them. Soon both cavalries charge eachother, blood spilling on both sides but the difference in numbers making all the difference as the Sassanian Cataphracts are slaughtered with each casualty made to a Byzantine, 3 more Sassanians were killed.

In a few hours the battle is over, Hundreds to Thousands lay dead on both sides and the Byzantines gather to lick their wounds and protect the road from the Sassanians. Soon a larger force will join them and they will soon win this war in Lazica.

"Form up, Cataphracts in front with the Light cavalry on the sides, infantry behind!" Alyattas Christoboulus the Byzantine Commander of this force. "Sargent whats the casualty report."

"From what i could gather we lost a portion of our infantry mostly due to the arrowfire, a few cataphracts and none of our light cavalry were injured, we have about... 10,000 troops even." The Sargent says

"Wow an even number of troops, maybe this is a blessing from god." Alyattas says, surprised at the even number of troops at exactly 10,000. "So how much of each type of troops do we have, and i want exact numbers."

"Already ahead of you sir, we have 3,000 Heavy infantry, 1,000 Archers, 3,000 Cataphracts and 3,000 Light Cavalry."

"Wow perfect numbers, the lord is definitely with us today, maybe this is a sign that we shall have a glorious victory over the Sassanians."

"Perhaps, I do marvel at how we managed to get perfect num-" The sargent is interrupted by a loud rumble coming from the ground.

The whole army is silent and everyone looking around to see where that sound came from, some of the more zealous ones begin to pray to the heavens quietly.

"Uhh.. What was that.." Alyattas mutters to nobody in particular, but his question is soon answered by a large crack in the ground quickly suddenly appear, and quickly spread to encircle the army in a perfect circle, soon even more soldiers are praying to god that this isnt a form of punishment. But after 1 minute of nothing but some prayers, it seems to have stopped, that is until one soldier tries to jump over the crack to make it to the other side, and instantly vanishes. Not only that but the ground starts to shake and the circle beins to sink into the ground, taking the army with them.

Panic ensues as the army try to jump out of the circle or climb out of the hole they are now being dug into by whatever this is, horses suprisingly staying calm and Alyattas himself joining some in prayer for god to save them, But before they can finish their prayer they are all blinded by a flash of light and dissapear..

The ground goes back up and no evidence of the cracks are left....

Equestrian POV... Princess Twilight Sparkle... Location... Ponyvile... TIme... 1 hour after sunset...

"-And this part is made of a bronze alloy, while the tip is made of some sort of Steel or Iron." Twilight explains her new discovery, one of the javelins thrown by the Human during the battle, After finally getting access to the equipment of the late ponyville guards during their battle. Unfortunately she couldn't research the few weapons she recovered from the humans due to friendship problems and random parties by Pinkie Pie. But fortunately she finally has had time to take closer looks at their weapons to maybe help her brother against the humans.

"And since the middle part here is made of bronze it bends when it hits an object, which wouldn't make such a good weapon but then i saw what happened to the armor and.. bodies of the guards they were thrown against. And they pierced the armor and bent in the armor/body, which actually makes sense, since once it bends it cannot be thrown back and not only that it will stay in a shield or pony it was thrown at, knocking them out of the fight or taking away their shield. When you consider that this turns this simple javelin into a master piece of technology and-"

"TWILIGHT!! Your rambling again." Spike says, while sitting in a chair next to 5 sleeping ponies, aka the rest of the mane 6. "You put them to sleep like 10 minutes ago."

"Oh.. i guess i get like that sometimes..." Twilight says while putting the bent and cleaned Javelin down and goes to wake up her friends.

"Girls wake up!" Twilight yells, waking up her friends.

"Zzz huh? oh sorry Twily..." Rainbow says while stretching in the chair.

"Yes you do get.. very.. informative without regard to entertainment of the crowd.." Rarity tells Twilight.

"Yeah sorry about that but-" Twilight is cut off by a 3rd Huge magical drainage much like the last two times, with much pain coming to the unicorn and alicorn in the group and mild un-comfort to the other ponies and 1 dragon in the group.

"Uh oh.. i have a bad feeling about this..." Twilight says, holding her horn.....

POV.. Roman Cavalry.. Location... ???.. Time.. Mid day...

"Are you sure this is the right place? I mean, you have the map." A random Roman says to Seranchi, who is looking at the map and the sun.

"I am sure, if the sun sets and rises the same in this world as ours then we are going the right way, and we should be there soon." Seranchi says, while walking to his horse, who is grazing on the field much like all the rest of the horses.

The roman cavalry is currently resting in a valley, with some railroad tracks running through it and a river which the men and horses are drinking from.

"Soldiers, did you find out what these metal bars on the ground are for?" Seranchi asks a group of men inspecting the mysterious metal bars.

"No sir, we havent. they seem to be made of a strong metal but it does not appear to be iron." The Random Cav Guy says

"Well we dont have time to ponder on this, we have a mission to do. Tell all the men and horses to saddle up and get ready to move out by yesterday." Seranchi yells while he goes to get his horse who is drinking from the river.

Soon the Roman/Gaullic cavalry are mounting their horses (No bad reader, no naughty thoughts here) And preparing their weapons in case. With their sharpened swords and polished helmets, they get ready to ride off to their mission which means they have to-

A loud chug a chug is heard in the distance, the soldiers each slowly starting go pay attention to it as they look to see what is causing the noise and where it is coming from.

"What is that noise" One soldier says to nobody in particular, until they all snap their heads in the same direction as a loud horn is heard through the river valley as they all see a massive metal beast that is strangely pink, spewing out clouds from the top of its head, each soldier and horse being extremely confused as to what that is and if it is dangerous.

"MEN LETS RIDE, WE NEED TO SEE IF THIS IS THING MAY BE BENEFICIAL TO OUR CAUSE." Seranchi yells out as he turns his horse towards the tracks and rides towards them as the train is starting to pass by, going slightly slower than the horses can gallop, with seranchi ahead of a triangle formation of cavalrymen following the Train, they look to see ponies staring at them from the windows. Each looking curious and confused as to whats going on.

Seranchi puts two and two together and yells to his men to board the strange mechanical carriage, telling half his men to go in from the back and the other half to go to the 'head' to take control. All the horsemen begin to go into their respective groups as one group begins to board the caboose of the train, and telling their horses to follow the train from a save distance, while the other goes to the head of the train, doing the same as the ones in the back..

POV Random Cavalrymen #45, Location, Caboose...

"Okay lets go in!" #45 says while kicking in the door and bursting into the caboose with his companions beside him, clearly scaring the rich pony passengers who seem to occupy the back caboose. 45 Stares at the very luxurious cart for a few seconds before going back to making sure the ponies dont try anything, while he points his spear at the nearest one, until he curls into a ball and begs for his life pathetically...

"GUARDS!" One mare yells until she gets a spear to the neck, spraying blood onto her apparent husband and the very expensive couches, While terrifying the rest of the passengers into staying still and quite.

Soon a group of 4 Royal guards burst in through the other door only to see the amount of 'bandits' attacking the train, and who they are

"Humans? what are they doing here?" One guard questions before getting a spear to his side as he yells in pain. Soon the other guards get their act together and charge the humans who outnumber them 4 to 1 even if most of them are still boarding the train. Though in only a few seconds the guards are subdued do to them having no shields, a short sword, and shitty armor that was more for show than battle.

45 Then instructs a few men to watch the captives as they go through the next 'carriage' to find a more moderate looking one with less fancy decorations but more ponies who scream and panic as the humans burst in and try to subdue them, Which results in the frustrated men stabbing some nearby ponies to get their point across. This shuts up the carriage enough so the men can tell them to shut up and sit down. Which none of the Ponies seem too keen on disobeying, especially after seeing a few ponies get their lives ended.

"Alright lets get the next one, you three stay here and guard the ponies" 45 Says while he goes to burst into the next Carriage...

POV Seranchi... Location.. Train Locomotive

Seranchi boards the train first and quickly throws a guard who tries to stop him off the train into a storm of stomping hooves, Which he then turns to the train driver who is shaking in his boots holding a shovel as a weapon.

"Drop the shovel or else" Seranchi threatens as he raises his spear, which causes the shivering pony to drop his shovel and raise his hands in the air in surrender. "Now stop this.. Mechanical Carriage now!" Seranchi tells the Poor Pony as more humans board the locamotive and burst into the train cars behind them.

"But.. I-I have to get this train to-"

"Sounds like you would like to be thrown into that fire there, Or would you rather stop this and live?!" Seranchi cuts off the Conductor as he gets closer to the poor stallion.

"N-no please i-ill stop the train!" The conductor says while reaching for the brakes and tugging on it, causing the train to lurch forward as it slows down, causing a few Humans and ponies to fall due to the sudden decrease in speed. And much to the horses relief as they dont have to chase the train anymore.

"Good pony." Seranchi says while grabbing the pony and throwing him into the train engine, and closes the door as screams of pain are heard then silenced....

"Men get the ponies and anything you think might be valuable and take it off this Carriage!" Seranchi yells as he walks to the train cars...

Battle of Whitetail Woods Part 5- Assault

View Online

The morning of the 60th day of the siege on the Roman Fort in WhiteTail Woods dawns as soldiers from both sides rise to do thier respective duties and make sure the other doesn't try anything. For the Romans, the situation looks dire, They are running low on food, have already run out of prisoners to negotiate for food, and moral is starting to drop, partially from the tension from being attacked at anytime, partially from the taunts and propeganda occasionally spewed by the equestrians, but the biggest cause of the morale drop is the worst nightmare of soldiers from any force or time period.... boredom..

"Vesperianus, im not sure how long the men can entertain themselves. Boredom is quite a dangerous thing in a siege." A Centurion says to the Roman Comander

"Yes thank you, I know all about boredom, something called reports for senators. Anyways we are going to run out of food soon and im not sure how long it will be before the Ponies attack, or the men surrender. For the Ponies have all the time in the world to draw this siege out while we have limited time. Not only that but I am hoping the plan works, and if my theories are correct then we should be good, but we should prepare for the worst." Vesperianus says as a Centurion walks in the camp.

"Sir the archers on the walls report the equestrians have finished setting up siege equipment and are bringing up ladders and a ram. We believe they are about to assault the walls, shall I give the order to the archers to fire at will?" A Centurion states while rushing up to vesperianus.

"Wait till they get closer, we only have so many arrows and i want every arrow to hit something. We don't now if these 'ponies' have any bows of their own and it seems they neglected to have shields." Vesperianus states as he looks over the legionnaires and auxiliaries rushing about preparing to fight, seeing Centurions rally their troops together at the gates and prepare in case the gates burst open to the waves of enemies waiting to slaughter them all and perhaps make them into slaves.

Speaking of slaves Vesperianus quickly goes to visit the freed slaves they captured from the tree farm. Much to his surprise he finds them arming themselves with auxiliary spears and bows wanting to help fight despite their lack of training and slight malnurishment.

"While i admire your bravery you do not have to fight. Your weak enough from whatever torture you have endured as slaves." Vesperianus says while looking around at the men and women gearing up.

A Man, most likely the impromptu leader of the freed slaves, walks up to him, wearing a borrowed wolf skin hat and red tunic. "Sir we have been dreaming of freedom for out entire lives, We would rather die free men on the battlefield then live as slaves any longer."

"Well i guess i cannot stop you. Do be careful though, follow orders and try not to get yourself killed." Vesperianus leaves the tent as the slaves finish gearing up and head to the walls to assist the auxiliaries.

Vesperianus looks over the walls in a watchtower, surveying the battlefield ahead of him. Seeing the equestrians move in unison reminding him that these ponies are professionals like him, yet, from what he has gathered from the prisoners they released and the slaves, they are not veterans. Which sets his battle hardened Legion apart from the rookie ponies that array themselves before him. Soon his thoughts are cut off when a strange arrow lodges itself into the wooden pillar next to him, startling him slightly as he looks out towards the pony lines and sees rows of ponies with strange T shaped bows, his eyes widening and ducking quickly as a volley of crossbow bolts rain down upon the fort, screams of pain suddenly ring out as the volley of deadly projectiles hit their targets.

"Archers! Fire at will!" Vesperianus yells as he climbs down from the watchtower and quickly picks up his gladius and scutum. Watching the rows of archers on the walls return fire with their bows, and much to his delight, hearing the screams of ponies from outside the wall.

"Sir their armor seems to be deflecting most of the arrows. Though many of their body parts appear to be unarmored." An Auxiliary tells vesperianus as another volley of arrows is sent out and a volley is received. While another Auxiliary runs up. "Sir they are bringing up battering rams to the east and south gate! along with ladders!"

"Great to know! now keep firing i want you to weaken them as much as possible before they get here! And Legionnaires! Form a shield wall a few meters away from the gate, prepare for them to burst in." Vesperianus yells to his men, ordering individual cohorts to guard the walls to fend off the ladderponies as the auxiliaries throw javelins and fire arrows. Many falling to crossbow bolts while the equestrians falling to the deadly rain of projectiles.

POV Shining Armor..

"Alright send in the battering rams while the crossbowmen keep them busy and prepare the unicorns on the north side!" Shining armor yells out to pegassi couriers to deliver his orders. "Sargent Hard Cloud, any reports on the humans on the large 4 legged pony like creatures anywhere?"

"Negative sir all scouts have either reported nothing or not reported back at all. The pattern makes no sense, its as if they split into multiple groups. Though that doesn't explain how they managed to take out the pegassi unless they had some sort of ranged weapons, and from what little weapons we gathered from them they only had spears and shields." Hard cloud reports as he orders a few pegassi crossbowmen to fly up into the sky and rain bolts down on them.

Shining looks to the forest as if expecting something to jump out before looking back to hard cloud. "Send some more scouts, i do not like worry about being ambushed. And get me Blueblood i need to ask him why hes taking all the mages north instead of supporting out earth ponies and pegassi...

POV Blueblood..

Blueblood smiles to himself, his brilliant plan to easily take over the fort is coming to fruition. All it will take is to have the unicorns at the opposite side of the fort the rest his forces are attacking from. Not telling shining out of fear he will take the credit himself. But nonetheless he quickly orders his unicorns to prepare their spells as they organize into formation and start to march out into the artificial clearing and having arrow-fire begin to rain down on his troops, quickly being stopped by the shields of the unicorns.

"Haha those stupid humans cant possible win now, prepare to light the wooden forticifaction on fire unicorns. Lets burn them out like the rats they are!" Blueblood yells as he draws his sword and eyes the walls where the axuileries are hopelessly pelting the shields with arrows and javelins .

"Fire!" Blueblood smiles at his clever pun as the shields drop, causing a few guards to get hit with stray arrows and javelins, and fire a mass amount of fireballs at the wooden fort. Causing many fires to break out much to the panic of the Romans standing atop the fort.

"Lets see them run out and beg to be spared like the slaves their meant to be!" BB says to nobody in particular as he teleports back to base camp. Where he startles a slightly stressed Shining armor.

"BLUEBLOOD! Where are all of our unicorns! our guards are being hammered by arrows without forcefields to prote-"

"Fear not for i have just enacted a brilliant strategy! See!" Blueblood points to the growing fire at the opposite side of the camp. "I have set their camp on fire, now they will rush out and beg to be spared or die in a blaze!" he states giving himself a glass of wine.

"You idiot!" Blueblood spits out his wine. "Our guards are not in a position to be dealing with a frontal charge!" The sounds of yelling and trumpets sound from the fort causing both stallions to turn and see the gates opening as ponies are halfway up ladders and about to arrive with the rams. "YOU SEE!"

"I will have you court marshaled for insulting me! But i see they are coming out to surren-"

"No you idiot! Humans don't surrender when their cornered! they fight harder! Have you never picked up a history book!

"Of course not! History is not something a aspiring noble commander such as myself needs." BB States arrogantly

"Well you must have heard of the battle of thermometai 900 years ago, where 400 human 'speartins' nearly beat 10,000 equestrians. It is probably the only battle in recorded history of a human army nearly beating an equestrian one! and they only had 400 humans!" Shining yells angrily at blueblood, causing a few nearby guards to worry since none of them are commanding, as a tide of red clad humans rush out of the gates....

Roman side.. 5 Minutes ago..

"Alright men keep that arrowfire up! throw javelins when they get closer. And make sure to keep an eye on those ponies attempting to go around us!" Vesperianus yells to his sub commanders and messengers as they rush around to prepare all for the iminent breach of the gates and the scaling of the walls by the ponies.

"Sir the legionnaires are all ready at the gates and the archers are at half their arrows sir!" A messenger says rushing up to vesp.

"Good job, now-" Vesperianus is cut off by the smell of smoke and the sudden screams of 'fire', he quickly turns his head to see the walls where the unicorns were heading are now on fire. And spotting a legionnaire running from the blaze he quickly rushes to him. "What in the name of Marz happened here!"

"S-Sir the ponies with horns just summoned fire from their heads! A-and threw it at the walls! it all happened so quickly they even blocked our arrows with strange glass bowls they summoned out of nowhere!" The shaken up legionnaire states as more troops evacuate the burning walls or die in the fire or by jumping off to try to escape.

"Change of plans! you!" Vesperianus points to a random artillery. "Tell the centurions to prepare to charge out! and tell them to make the gates open when i blare my horn! Go!"

The auxiliary runs off and Vesperianus quickly rushes to the closest gate with legionnaires preparing for the ponies to bring the ram in but quickly look at Vesperianus as he rushes up to the gate and climbs on the walls to tell the men in the gatehouse to open the gate when he blares his horn. Then rushes back out.

"Legionnaires! The walls are on fire and we have to make a charge out! The ponies are disorganized and will not expect it! make sure to strike hard and strike fast! otherwise we will die in this burning hellhole!" He yells to his men as he grabs his sword and looks to the axuileries gathering behind the legions at the front before taking in a deep breath and breathing hard into his horn, blaring the sound throughout the fort. "CHAAARRGE!"

The gates swiftly open to a large group of confused looking ponies pulling a ram, a look that quickly turns to fear as the Romans yell out battle-cries as they charge out, shields raised and swords drawn, Quickly smashing into the out of formation guards and easily killing those on or preparing to go on the ladders. With the archers firing farther into the crowd of ponies scrambling to get into a formation the romans push back the ponies and kill many with stabs shield bashes and arrow-fire. The legionnaires quickly forming shield walls and stabbing at foolish ponies attempting to charge them and push forward, marching in unison as they have trained, while auxileries behind them toss javelins over their heads towards the still forming wall of scared and nervous pike-ponies only 10 metres away.

"Pilum!!" Vesperianus yells, halting the legionnaires who stab thier swords in the ground and draw their javelins, "Loose!" Vesp yells, with a quick wind up, The legion toss the javelins into the line of ponies with devastating results. Tens to hundreds die in the first volley and causing many to rout back to the reinforcements coming from the outer formations to watch for the cavalry. The legionnaires quickly grab their swords from the ground and charge, smashing into any ponies who didnt or couldnt rout quickly enough.

Screams of dead and dying ponies ring throughout as the ponies pull back to thier camps to get some space to re-organize their forces sacrificing those who stayed to be slaughtered.

POV Shining/Blueblood...

Shining watches in horror as the Humans charge out of their two remaining gates and straight into his unorganized guards. With no unicorns to support them and with most of their pegassi still out searching for the elusive humans who escaped, hundreds of earth pony guards die as the Romans cut them down to pieces and pierce them with javelins. Shining and Blueblood are frozen as they watch the one sided slaughter, Shining both marveling at how organized, well drilled, and fluent the humans are, and mortified at the amount of guards being slaughtered under his command.

Blueblood in a similar situation, but instead of admiring their training, he only sees barbarians slaughtering, although earth ponies, superior ponies where they stand. He quickly realizes he left ALL their unicorns on the opposite side of the fort. Even if they knew to come now they wouldn't get here in time. Swearing mentally at his short sided-ness he quickly snaps out of his trans like state and yells for the troops to retreat back to the edges of the camps and form a pike-wall. Sacrificing the Ponies who are still engaged with the humans in order to buy him some much needed time.

"Quickly! Form pike walls before the humans get closer!" Blueblood rushes out sword drawn prepared to save the day from 'Shining's' disaster. "You messenger! Go find our pegsassi and tell them to get their flanks over here now!"

"Prince Blueblood!" A Pegassi from the 3rd air regiment flies down, bloodied and having an arrow stuck in his side. "THEIR COMING!" She says out of breath and on the verge of passing out.

"Who!" Blueblood yells as the sound of hooves stomping in the distance is heard. "Ah yes! Re-enforcement! Now we can-"

"THEIR NOT OURS!" The mare yells as she passes out from blood loss, causing the prince to question who it is then as he, and many other guards hearing the noise, some cheering for their 're-enforcement', only to see, at the edge of the clearing 50 metres away, Lots of Humans, on their large 4 legged ponies, spears in hand and in armor different to the humans in the fort, With their mounts having heavy armor as well. Along with some wearing banners on their backs. Blueblood's eyes turn to pinpricks as he stares death in the face and runs back to his commanders tent..

POV Nagai, Japanese/ Alyattas, Byzantine

Nagai awaits his scout to return from the edge of the forest where the 'roman' base is being assaulted. Wanting to know if the time is right to attack. Stepping over a dead body of a Pegassi shot out of the sky by his and the byzantine archers. Taking the time from finding them to now to explain to Alyattas and his men of the situation they are in. Of course he did not believe him until a patrol of pegassi were shot out of the sky, causing all the doubts Alytattas and his men had to vanish. Boredom quickly set in as they waited, Alyattas forgetting to ask who is in the fort, quickly helps Nagai plan supply raids on the few supply lines the ponies have, as well as killing the scouts sent to search for the roman light cavalry.

1 day before the assault of the siege the Roman cavalry return, some with loot they said to have gathered from a 'self propelling carnage on metal tracks'. Many thinking they simply raided a village and stole those things. Alyattas never saw the romans directly and soon the cavalry all joined together, after the scouts came back with confirmation the fortress was under attack. Nagai and his elite samurai cavalry joining together with Alyattas and his Elite Cataphracts in a large wedge formation, with them at the tip of the spear marching in semi-uniform formation as they must weave their way through many trees. Small talk between samauri and cataphracts easing tension slightly.

"I forgot to ask" Alyattas says breaking the silence between the Nagai and himself. "Who are the ones inside of the fort, you never told me."

"Ah yes, I did forget. They call themselves 'Romans' I believe." Alyattas' heart skips a beat when he hears the R word.

"Were they clad in red shields, red skirts and shortswords?!"

"Uhh.. Yes they were, some carried banners with strange letters on them and wearing skins." Nagai says none the wiser that he told a Eastern roman (Byzantine) commander about the fact they are saving soldiers from the original roman empire. "Shh everyone quiet! there's the clearing! Prepare to charge." Nagai yells ironically as everyone shuts up and draws their lances and spears, putting on their helmets and telling their now talking horses to quiet down as well.

Soon they all line up at the border between the clearing and the forest on a slight hill overseeing the Equestrian camp and the fort, red soldiers and fire easily visible from the hill. the shade of the trees slightly hiding them from the ponies on the other side. A trumpet is heard and yells from the ponies as well as panic in the camp follow as the combined Japanese and Byzantine force watch the roman infantry charge out of their camp and cause havoc. "Now is the time! Come on Alyattas!" Alyattas quickly comes out of his thoughts and sees the situation. "Indeed it is! CHARGE!"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75zmIj_4LFQ

The combined force of the Byzantine and Japanese cavalry charge out of the treeline and into the clearing down the hill, both rider and horse yelling battlecries as they charge towards the back of the pikewalls formed by the ponies. One being seen running to a tent as most of the ponies are oblivious to the massive amount of cavalry charging at them from behind, That is until the Byzantine Light cavalry and the Japanese samurai rain arrows into their backs killing many and causing Ponies in their lines quickly turn around only to stare in fear as the cavalry charge is mere meteres from them.

Time slows down as ponies attempt to raise their pikes, few managing to do so, before being rammed into by horse, lance, and spear alike. Instantly vaporizing the back 3 lines of the pony pike wall and pushing out towards the front, riders slicing and stabbing ponies as they run them down. Causing a massive panic in their lines.

Seeing this the Romans charge and slam into the already panicking ponies pinning them in between the cavalry and the roman infantry. Bloodlust taking over most as they slaughter the ponies, who don't have enough space to use their pikes and many attempting to use their short-swords, with little effect. Blood, guts, heads fly as swords clash and yells of pain and help are silenced soon afterwards. The few remaining guards run away into the forest towards Ponyville, dropping all their armor, pikes, swords, and helmets to run faster. A Full rout to those not caught in the slaughter. Meanwhile Blueblood and Shining teleport themselves and a few nearby guards back to Ponyville with an emergency spell shining set up.

Within minutes the battle is over, All the participating parties cheer as the Japanese and Byzantine infantry rush in to help but disappointingly find out they missed the fight and go to loot the bodies of the ponies anyways. Soon the armies disperse to gather up the supplies the equestrians left over and to steal their tents for themselves as the fire engulfs the roman fort in the background....
