Red Words mean background Music stops) It was a dark and stormy night in Everfree forest, when the wind was blowing ever so wildly. Many of the trees in the forest were being torn apart by the mighty wind, all except one. The biggest tree of all, standing ever so high like a mountain, was still standing strong against the powerful storm. Spirit Tree: "We shall always remember the night. When I lost Ori to the great storm." A glowing leaf got detach from the tree as it was blown away by the powerful wind, and was separated from its father. The wind carried it deeper and deeper into the forest, and closer to the Castle of the Two Sisters. ----- Meanwhile, in Everfree Castle, there was party celebrating Celestia and Luna's birthday. Most of the guests had to stay inside because of the storm. All of the royals had attended their party and, despite the fact how bad it was outside, everypony was having a good time. All except Luna. She tried to reach out to the other ponies, but they just ignored her. Its not because they hated her, but really, all they cared about was her sister. Her sister was very popular with everypony in Equestria. Even though in her heart she knew she should be proud of her sister. It has took them decades for them to get the unicorns, Earth ponies, and pegasus to unit, and they have finally done it. So why isn't she happy? Luna frowned at everypony she saw. They were all having good time except her. Luna then looked at the gifts she received earlier that day, and the only gifts she had gotten was from Starswirl and from distant relatives. Compared to what she have gotten, her sister had gotten a mountain of gifts from ponies everywhere. Not only was she jealous, but most of all, she felt lonely. "Princess Luna?" said a voice. Luna turned around and saw a couple of ponies approach her. "Oh good, we've been looking everywhere for you." Luna's expression brighten, as she was happy to hear such words. "Really?" "Yes we knew you were the only one who could help us," One of them said. Luna was glad that at least some ponies out there saw how important she is. "Well I'll do the best I can." "Thats great, we were wondering if you could tell use where Celestia is?" Just like that, her happiness shattered. Without giving a second look, she just pointed in Celestia's general direction. "Thank you so much." They then trotted away, leaving Luna alone, and very annoyed. "Alright, I've had it!!" Luna trotted away from her party, and to her room, as she needed some time to think. Then, she heard her name being called again. "Luna." "Yes,yes, yes, YES CELESTIA IS RIGHT OVER THERE YOU-" When Luna faced the pony who was calling her, only then, she realized it was Starswirl the bearded who called her. "Oh - uh Starswirl, it's just you. Sorry for shouting at you like that." "Luna, where are you going? Your party is that way," he said, looking at her with concern. "I'm sorry my old friend, I-I need to be alone for a while." Before she continued on, Starswirl stopped her for a moment. "Luna, I know you feel disconnected with everypony, but you shouldn't worry. I'm sure they will like you eventually." Starswirl assured her, in a calm tone of voice. "I know, but I just….." Luna took a deep breath and sighed. "Our parents have always told us we were destined for greatness. I keep repeating it over and over again in my head, but, no pony appreciates me, and it's hard to see them doing so in the future." "Luna," Starswirl mumbled under his beard. "I would at least want one pony who appreciates me and my night sky. I just feel so alone," said Luna as she glanced out the window. "Luna, you know that's not true. You have me and your sister. No pony said this will be easy, but, you must not let your personal feelings get involved in your work. A princess must be strong, wise, and caring no matter what," advised Starswirl. Suddenly, they both heard Celesta call his name. "Excuse me, Luna, but your sister calls." Starswirl than trotted towards the party, as he was needed. Luna stared at the window for a while. It just angered her for just being in the castle. Despite how dangerous it was outside, she needed to get away from everypony for a while so she could get her mind straight. Luna decided to go through the other door, where no pony will see her leaving. Once she opened the door, the strong wind blew her at her face like a tornado. Luna did not allow this to intimidate her, as she continued on against the wind pushing her back, but made sure to close the door. before setting off. Luna was trotting away from the courtyard of her and her sister's castle, towards the Everfree forest, with the wind pushing her mane against her face, as the rain was quickly soaking her fur. Hours later, Luna kept walking into the forest, not caring how dangerous it was. Even though branches and leaves kept hitting her in the face, she kept going. "I don't know why I thought this was a good idea. But for some reason, I feel like this forest is my only friend. I even remembered when I was filly I use to come play here. I pretended to be the princess of the forest," Luna thought. Luna then noticed, in the distance, the giant glowing tree that towered over the others. Her mother use to tell her and her sister stories about it all the time. For some reason, that tree was the heart of Everfree forest. Flash Back: “Mama, whats that tree?” asked little Luna, as she glance up at the giant tree. “Yeah, what is it?” asked little Celestia. “That tree, my dears, is a spirit tree,” Replied their mother. “A spirit tree?” They both asked, curious. “Yes. You see, that tree is the protecter of this forest. There use to be hundreds of trees just like it during the time before pony-kind even existed. Sadly, that was before the ponies started cutting down the trees so they could make homes out of them. Our world use to be covered in trees such as this. Everfree forest use to be just one part of a bigger forest called The Forest of Nibel.” “The Forest of Nibel?” the filly alicorns asked. “It is an ancient forest that was home to many magical creatures that once roamed this world. However, ponies everywhere feared these creatures, so they burned the Forest of Nibel down,” she explained. Luna frowned as she glanced to the tree. “But, why would they burn it down?” asked Luna, sadden by her mother’s story. “Because my dear, ponies fear things they don’t understand. It's in there nature. So, that tree standing before you, my darlings, is what's left of the ancient forest of Nibel, including this forest now known as the Everfree forest." “Do you think we can head over there to get a closer look?” asked Celestia, eyeing the gigantic tree from the distance. However, their mother shook her head. “I’m afraid not,” she replied. “You see, that part of the forest is Deer territory, and they won’t like it if we trespass on their part of the forest. The Deer are VERY protective of that tree and they will not let any pony near it.” “Awwww!!” They both said, disappointed. “Sorry girls. Maybe one day you will.” End of Flashback: She smiled a little at that memory, until a tree fell down right in front of her. The longer she was outside, the worse the storm had gotten. It was so bad, that it nearly push Luna off her four hooves. But now, it was tearing the whole forest apart. Luna knew it was un-wise for her to keep going, so she started to head back. Just before she started to turn around, a glowing leaf flew past her, swiftly grabbing her attention, and Luna's own wonder took hold. As she forgot about how dangerous the storm was getting, she followed the glowing leaf through the forest. After a rather short journey, it had landed in a clearing, touching ground on the wet grass. Luna had fallen behind she couldn't fly because of the treacherous wind - but when she entered the clearing, the leaf started to glow brighter, and brighter. Luna reacted quickly by running towards it. Her hooves cover her eyes as the light grew too bright for her too even see. The light only continued to glow brighter, and brighter, until ... Nothing. The light disappeared, leaving behind a glowing figure lying in the same spot as the leaf had been, and having faintly glowing flowers scattered around it. Luna approach it slowly to get a better look, as she stared at the creature with awe. The storm then started to calm down as well when she approached it. Luna then slowly picked it up with her own hooves instead of using her magic. The glowing creature had turned out to be a small, two legged, cat-rabbit like creature with glowing white fur, black eyes with white pupils, a long tail, and what looked like four ears; two of them exceedingly larger than the other pair higher up on its scalp. The creature turns out to be a baby, who just been recently born. Spirit Tree:"When Luna embraced my light." Luna didn't know what this feeling was, for she had never felt it before. It was very …… heart warming. "Is this what love feels like?' she wondered in her mind. "Is this the feeling my sister feels when she is praised by the other ponies….or is this something more?" The creature opened its eyes, and looked up at her with curiosity, as did Luna. After a moment of silence, Luna smiled, and embraced the creature with love, as she hugged it like a mother would with her child. ---------- It was soon morning, as the sun began to shine above the castle. In Luna's room, the white creature woke up from its slumber. It tried to get down from Luna's bed, but it was too small to even reach the floor. The Spirit Tree: "And raise it as her own." While he was looking around the room, he saw Luna come in from the door. "Good Morning little one. Let's go see Starswirl, he would like to see you," she said with a welcoming smile. So then the creature, slowly and carefully, got on Luna's back, but Luna helped it out by using her magic to help it get on her back safely. The creature did not speak much, but, she knew it was happy to see her, and did exactly what it was told. Luna took him downstairs where Starswirl's lab was. Once they entered the lab, the creature was examining the entire place with wonder in its eyes. There were so many weird stuff down here; Books, scrolls, jewels, glass bottles with bowling liquid of all colors, and relics from foreign nations. He also saw two other ponies. One was a gray, really old looking stallion, with a long signature beard. He whore a blue pointy hat, with a blue cape to match. The other one was a tall, beautiful, white pink maned alicorn, wearing a golden crown on her head. Luna kept him on her back so she could keep him close and also Starswirl could have a good look at him. "Well I'll be," he said, as he quickly grabbed an ancient book, its cover made out of wood. Celestia herself was a bit curious about this thing as well. Never before had she seen such a creature. "Starswirl, What is this thing?" she asked, as she examined it from head to toe. Starswirl set the book he was reading on the table. "Its a Spirit Guardian; a long presumed extinct race of creatures that used to live deep in Everfree Forest," He explained, the book open to the pages with the information in question. Celestia and Luna walked over to Starswirl to take a look at the picture he was pointing at. It was a picture of many deferent shaped Spirit Guardians but sure enough, some of them was indeed a look like as the creature that was currently sitting on Luna's back. "How come they're extinct?" she asked, as she turned her head to face the white glowing creature. "Nopony knows, There was a time when so many of these things roamed Equestria, even the whole world, and then one day when the pony race began to expand, they just disappeared. This book is written in an ancient language that hasn't been spoken in centuries. It took me years to translate most of this, but I do know that this book is older than time itself, back before ponies even roamed this planet. The only part of the book I didn't get to translate is the part with the Spirit Guardians and the Spirit tree but a piece of the page was ripped off from it." The wizard explained. "The Spirit Tree ?!" Both the sister asked. "I'm starting to remember all of this. Sister, remember that story our mother use to tell us when we were fillies. Do you remember what she said about the spirit tree ?" asked Luna. Celestia looked at her sister as she cocked her eyebrow. "You mean the story about the forest of Nibel ? Yes sister, I do remember but those were just stories. You can't really believe that those stories are true ? The forest of Nibel never existed nor did the creatures that lived in it. I mean giant black owls that eats ponies, Weird rounded creatures known as Gumons, big fuzzy bear like creatures with pale faces. Its all preposterous. Its just a fairytale sister." "But Tia, the Spirit tree-" "Its just a normal tree. There is no connection with the Spirit Guardian and the tree, despite how their names both have spirit in it." Luna raised a eyebrow at that. She frowned at her sister but hung her head in defeat. Starswirl rolled his eyes and just shrugged it off. He than continued on."......Well anyway there is even a possibility that this Spirit Guardian is older than it appears." Luna only stared at Starswirl for a bit, and then looked back at the Spirit Guardian than nodded her her in disagreement. "No, I think it's just a baby." She said looking at it with a motherly smile. "How can you tell sister?" Asked Celestia, as she cocked her eyebrow. Luna didn't give a direct response, but, she looked at the creature as hard as she could. She didn't know how she knew, she just did. "Well, it's small, and it can barely walk, or even speak for that matter. Once I first saw this thing, I knew that this creature had to be a child that was just recently born." "Hhhhmmm. You could be right Luna.” Starswirl wondered about that but decided to just let it go. “Not to mention it might be a boy as well. Cause, according to the book, it shows the difference between male and female. Male Light Guardians have black eyes and have ears pointed up while female Light Guardian have deep blue eyes and have ears pointed down. So, it's a baby boy.” “Really? So its a boy. Um, I’ve been giving this some thought and….I was thinking on having him live with us," said Luna, as she stared at the creature with love and care in her eyes, like a mother does with her own child. Celestia noticed, and decided to object to this dissuasion. She looked at the Spirit Guardian then back a Luna. “….As a pet??” Celestia asked. Luna paused for a moment. She didn’t know why she wanted to keep this creature, and raised it as her own. “Wait, Raise it as my own. Where did that come from?” She thought in her head. Luna nodded in response. "Luna, I don't think that's a good Idea. Your a princess, you'll be much too busy for that thing to take care of. That.....whatever it is will expect too much from you. Luna you must take that thing back to the forest." Said the older Princess. "Sister no. Just because your the oldest doesn't mean you can order me around !" Luna spat back. "You don't even know what this thing is capable of. As far as we know this thing could be dangerous and if our ponies find out-" Celestia started but was cut off by Starswirl. "Tia, leave your sister alone. This is her choice. Besides none of use complained about you sneaking off into the dimensional mirror to see you know who." Luna chuckled at that as her sister Celestia blushed deeply like a cherry as she frowned at Starswirl for mentioning that. ".....Starswirl." "She'll be just fine and lets not worry about the ponies ether. After all, the book does mention these things being friendly. I'm going to try to find out more about these Light Guardians, but, this book doesn't go into any specifics so I'm going to try to figure out what it eats," he explained, as he turned around and began doing research. Celestia surprise that Starswirl would agree to letting her younger sister keep such a thing in this castle. Celestia hung her head in defeat. "Well..." she looked back at her sister, who was now playing with the Spirit Guardian, "I suppose it wouldn't hurt to have it around." and with that, she left the room, leaving Luna behind giggling at the little Spirit Guardian playing with her mane. ------------ It was time to eat, as Luna, Celestia, and Starswirl, both sat at the long fancy table as the servants came and gave them slices of blackberry pie. Luna levitated a baby bottle of milk but before she could help feed the light guardian she knew they didn't have any special seats for him to sit on, so Luna decided for him to eat on the table. She helped him up and levitated a bottle of milk for him, and it was now time to eat. "Luna what are you doing? Pets eat on floors, not on tables," said Celestia, who frowned at her sister. "Uuh yes I-I know but…..I thought it would be a good idea for him to eat with us like this. After all, he's part of the family now." While Luna was looking the light guardian was eyeing at Luna's pie. He crawled closer and closer to it while smelling it blackberries and crust surrounding with whip cream on top and the sugar added on to it. Luna than noticed the creature getting close to her pie. Before she could even stop him it was already too late. "Child no-" Once the Spirit Guardian realized it was food, it quickly jumped on top of it and it ate and ate until its face fell into the plate, as it began to eat like a mutt. Smothering its entire face with black berries and whip cream. After a short time of eating, It was done, the plate of black berries was licked clean. It moved the plate with its paw back to Luna, as its way of asking for more. Its face was covered in black berries and leftovers. Luna was so shocked that it ate her piece of pie, as well at how fast it ate it. She hung her mouth wide opened in shock. Not only her but everypony in the room was surprised that it ate Luna's pie. The Spirit Guardian tilted its head as he was unsure what Luna's expression was gonna be until he broke the silenced by the his sudden burping. Luna than began to giggle a little, which slowly turned to hysterical laughter. Shortly after, everypony else began to laugh too. "Ha,haa !! You silly goose. Mind your manners." She said. "Well, I guess you were right Luna. It's a baby after all," Starswirl chuckled. Everypony in the room laughed, as they all saw the small cute creature with food all over its face, like a baby dipping its face in a cake. The Light Guardian Smiled with joy. As time went on, Luna gave Ori a bath which he didn't like at all but she made it up to him by reading a story by the fire place where they keep the books. The creature didn't understand Equestrian language yet, but he loved the soothing sound of his guardian's voice. It was a long story but Luna took her time with it. Later at the crack of dawn, Luna and the Light Guardian went outside for some air at the balcony exterior part of the castle. Both Luna and the Creature were enjoying the view. "Well, Since your staying with us, we should probably give you a name." The Spirit Guardian nodded in agreement. Luna gave it some thought but couldn't think of anything. "How about…..Angel? No,……Um…..Gummy?….Opalescence? No,no that's not right….Uuhhh…how about-" Suddenly, she heard something speaking to her. She looked into the distance and saw the same giant tree in the Everfree, which was glowing in part of its branches. It was like the tree was speaking to her. While in reality, it wouldn't seem likely, but she couldn't help but feel like it was saying something to her. Spirit Tree: "…Ori….Ori…..Ori” "……Ori," Luna mumbled to herself. It was like the name just popped into her head randomly. She wasn't sure what just happened, but, she realized that the name Ori was very fitting for this creature. Even though it sounded foreign, she didn't care. "Ori….I think thats a splendid name. Don't you think so?" she asked, as the Spirit Guardian nodded in agreement as it smiled it her with joy. "Then it's settled; Your name for now on will be Ori." she said as the he got off her back and embraced her with a hug. "Welcome to your new home. My little Ori." To be Continued. > Chapter 2: Raising Hope > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Green Words background music starts. Red Words mean background Music stops) It was another day in Everfree Castle, as Ori was looking around the kitchen. He noticed that there were sweets here earlier, but there weren't here anymore. Suddenly, Philemina flew by, and got Ori's attention as she squawked at him, and pointed her beak at the iron metal door where they kept the frozen food. Ori knew that Philemina was trying to tell him that the cake was in the freezer, but how was he going to get to it? He was small, fragile, and the metal handle was far from his reach. However, Philemina decided to help him out with that as she flew towards the metal door, and pushed the handle while flying. It was tough, but the door manage to slowly open. Even Ori tried to help even though he was too little and weak. Twenty seconds later, the iron door was wide open, as Ori could see what seemed like heaven; A giant, delicious birthday cake that was as big as a wedding cake. Ori licked his own lips in excitement, as he was about to have his very first cake. Meanwhile, Luna was trotting down the halls and made her way towards the kitchen, calling out to Ori. "Ori, Ori where are you ? Its time for your……L-lunch?” Her pupils began to shrink to tiny marbles as she saw Ori on top of her sister's cake, eating it. His fur was covered in her sister's cake. Luna was completely horrified. She knew what will happen if her sister found out about anypony touching her cake. If there was one thing Celestia loved the most, it was cake. However if her sister found anypony touching her cake there will be serious consciences. "Ori noo!! Get off of that cake, It's not yours!!" Luna needed to protect Ori from her sister's wrath at all cost, so she quickly got him off the cake and dipped her face into the cake so that way she could take the blame. Luna quickly used her magic to flout him up so she could carry him out of the freezer. "Lets get you cleaned up before-" When they exited the freezer Luna looked to her left and saw her older sister stare at her with surprised eyes. Luna felt her heart skip a beat as she realized she was busted. "Uh….h-hello sister. Hehe." said Luna with a fake smile. Celestia looked at her sister, then at Ori, then back at her sister again. Luna may have some frosting on her face but she knew her sister wasn't buying it. She could already see her glaring at the Spirit Guardian with pure anger which turned into rage as Celestia’s face became red as steam (comically) started popping out from her ears. “HOW DARE YOU, YOU LITTLE RODENT!!!!” Celestia attempted to approach Ori aggressively. Luna didn’t know what her sister was planing to do, but she was not going to take any chances. Luna quickly grabbed Ori with her magic and floated him away from her rampaging sister. “Tia, stop. He’s just a baby. He doesn’t know any better!” said Luna worryingly, as she saw pure hatred in her sister’s eyes. She tried to push her sister back as much as she could, trying keep her away from Ori. The Light Guardian’s body was shaking uncontrollably by fear, as he saw the pink mained alicorn attempted to harm him. “He’s not a baby. HE’S A RAT!!!!” Luna then heard Ori make noises, a multi tone squeak of some kind. Luna wasn’t sure what he was doing, but it was obvious to her that he was crying. Luna could see the tears streaming down his face as she knew he was scared of her older sister’s rage. Struggling to hold back her sister, Luna used a freeze spell to temporally stun her sister. “AAH!!” Luna quickly grabbed Ori, and made her way out of the castle. All she could think of was getting Ori away from her sister. She was galloping so fast, that she didn’t realize she past her luner guards, and Star Swirl who was calling out to her, but Luna didn’t hear him as she ran toward Everfree forest. When she finally got there, she started to slow down, knowing she was far from where her sister was but she kept going just incase Celestia was still chasing her. “Its okay, its okay. She’s gone now,” said Luna, as she stroked Ori a little with her hoof to comfort him. “I’m sorry you had to see that Ori, but now you know, you must never make my sister angry. Its not your fault, between you and me my sister was never really good with kids.” Ori wasn’t crying anymore but was still shaken up. He looked into his guardian’s eyes and could see her smiling at him softly. Luna then nuzzled against him, holding him close to her. “I promise, I will never let anything happen to you and if anypony tries to hurt you, they will answer to me.” Ori could not talk but he could tell by her soft words that he was safe. Ori always felt very safe with Luna around and was hoping it could stay that way forever. “Hey, I know a village not far from here. Lets go exploring. Ooh wait, lets give you a bath first.” The motherly alicorn said, as she levitated Ori on her back. “Hopefully my sister will calm down by the time we get back.” Moments later, Luna gave Ori a bath at the closest lake, scrubbing his head with a sponge. “Don’t worry Ori. This may be an old fashion way to take a bath, but it gets the job done.” Ori wasn’t too happy though, frowning the entire time. Ori was struggling at first but then was overwhelmed by Luna’s magic to hold him still. “Almost done,” She said as she then took a towel and began to dry him off. That annoyed him more than the bath itself did. “Alright, you're clean, and ready to go.” Luna said with a smile. An hour later, they finally arrived at the city of Canterlot, which is still in the making at its current moment. It was just a small tiny village on a mountain side, and not the huge utopia it'll become in the future. Luna and Celestia made this village, and were planing on making their new castle here. “This place is Canterlot, and it will soon be our new home. And your new home as well,” said Luna as she finally landed. Suddenly, Ori was struggling to hold on, and began to fall off of Luna’s back. “ORI!!!!” Luna quickly caught Ori before he could fall on the floor. “I’m so sorry Ori. How could I be so irresponsible! Okay, No more riding on my back until your older. Were getting you a baby carrier.” Later on, Luna had gotten her carrier for Ori, though it was just a regular saddle bag at first glance. Ori didn’t like it too much, but he didn’t resist either. He knew Luna was just keeping him safe, yet, he couldn’t help but noticed that everypony in the village was staring at him. Some in fear, others in awe as they couldn’t believe princess Luna was carrying something like that in such a way. Luna wanted to pick up a bed for Ori, but where should she go was the question. She was about to head to the pet shop to pick up a doggy bed for Ori, but she stopped and noticed a store that sold stuff for babies. Something told her to head to the baby store instead of a pet store, but wasn’t sure at first. Should she go to the pet shop and pick up a basket, or should she spend on something pricy like a crib? That was the question that had Luna thinking for a while, but she wasn’t sure what to do. Her brain told her to go to the pet shop, but her heart told her something else ... The owner of the baby shop heard someone enter her store. When she checked to see who it was, she was shocked on who she saw enter. “Princess Luna ?! T-This is an honor!” “Just here is pick something for a new born,” Luna replied. “Aaaww, did one of your cousins have a baby?” She asked. Luna shook her head. “No, I did,” Luna admitly said. “…..What?! Since when ? I don’t recall anypony from your kingdom announcing that!” “That's because it just happen not too long ago.” Luna may have told her sister and Star swirl that she was gonna raise this Light Guardian as a pet, but she can’t help herself. Something deep down told her that this baby wasn’t an animal. Even if it's true, was she ready to become a mother of this child? What would her sister say? Would her sister even accept it? Luna is a Two hundred years old, so, of course she was old enough to raise a child, but if word gets around about it, would Equestria even accept it? Would anypony accept her raising such a thing that is alien to the ponies? The magic of friendship burns bright in this land, that is true, but that doesn’t mean hatred and fear that have plagued these lands for centuries had left completely. Ponies only care about being friends with other ponies. Not with Griffons, Yacks, Dragons, Deer, or any other species that wasn't a pony for that matter. Sad as it may be, it was truth, and Luna was worried about that fact mostly. She was worried that everypony would hate Ori, but she shouldn’t care about it, for she loved him, and will do anything to protect him and make him happy. “Is that the little bundle of joy?” asked the owner, who noticed the baby carrier on her back. Luna kept Ori hidden. “Can I see her?” “It's a boy, and he’s shy so I don’t think that such a good idea,” answered the princess, unsure what the owner's reaction would be. “Oh….okay. Well congratulation Princess Luna,” said the owner, who was little disappointed at that. After a few minutes, Luna had gotten a number of baby items; a crib, high chair, bib, and even a Smart Pants doll. Ori noticed the Smarty Pants doll, and made a few echo sounds, telling his mother that he wanted to hold it. However, the owner heard that, and she started to look scared. “What was that sound?!” asked the owner, who was now in panic. Luna shrugged, acting oblivious. “Hhm. Must of the been the wind,” said Luna, who handed the doll to Ori so he could stop making noises. She paid the shop owner extra to have her send the stuff to her castle, and only then was ready to leave. Before Luna made it out the door the shop owner noticed Ori, as her jaw dropped to the floor, and she saw a glowing furry like animal thing in Luna’s baby carrier. “Thank you very much.” said Luna before she made her way out the door. “T-thats the Princess’s baby!?” shouted the owner. Spirit Tree: “She then asked herself about her actions.” Later on, Luna, and Ori, were at the park enjoying the nice weather. She thought it was best that Ori stayed with her instead of being with children his age. She just didn’t want the other mothers of those children to mistreat Ori. While Luna was enjoying the fresh air of nature she began to think to herself about what she did today. “What am I doing? Do I really love Ori that much that I would buy him all those things? Why did I even buy him those things? Do I care for him that much, I mean do care for him dearly but…..do I really love him that way? I already told that shop owner that I have a child. Why did I say that anyway? Not to mention I’ve been walking around, carrying Ori on a baby carrier like he was my own in front of the whole town.” Luna was keeping a close eye on Ori, who was playing with his Smarty Pants doll. She could tell that he loved that doll, as he was playing around with it. It was enough to make her smile, seeing him having a good time. Ori wanted to play with other children playing in the sand box but Luna said no. Watching Ori play reminded her of something long ago back when she was little. Flashback: “Mama, mama play with me!” shouted little Luna, trying to get her mother’s attention but she was too busy with her older sister. “Sorry Luna, but I’m teaching your sister how to use magic. Maybe later.” Said the motherly Alicorn. “But Mama!” Luna plead. “Luna, Please. We will play later!” Said her mother who gave her a stern look. Luna felt very sad that her mother couldn’t play with her but what upsets her is that her mother has been saying that ever since her Celestia accidentally turned the guards into cactuses with flowers bots. It has been a week since her and her mother had a mother and daughter time. “There is never a later,” Luna mumbled. She decided to play by herself. Having a tea party with all her stuff toys. She wished her daddy was still around. If he was still around maybe she wouldn’t feel so lonely, but he’s not here. Its just her, her sister and her mother in this large castle. Luna could hear her mother praising Celestia outside the castle. It made her feel upset. All she wanted to do spent some time with mother but no. Her sister gets all the attention. Luna than stared at the horizon as she noticed the spirit tree in the distance. “Maybe I could go over there and take a closer look at the Spirit Tree. Mama is busy with Tia anyway. I could comeback before she even realizes I’m gone.” Said Luna as she headed outside into the courtyard and snuck into the forest without her mother noticing. Thirty minutes later, Luna noticed she wasn’t too far from the spirit tree now, however she hid in the bushes as she noticed deer guards from Thicket were patrolling the area. “So remember rookie, our duty is to watch over and protect them and the spirit tree at all cost.” “Yes sir!” the younger deer responded. “Thats what I like to hear. Our shift is over. Now lets head back to Thicket,” responded the older one. Luna waited till they walked passed her than proceeded towards the giant tree. She knew her mother would be very upset with her if she found out about this but she knew it would be worth it once she finds herself standing in front of the giant glowing tree. When Luna got close enough her jaw feel to the ground at the site of the tree’s massive size. It was unlike anything she has ever seen. She wasn’t even in front of it yet. “Woah, I can’t believe how big it is. I’m not that far from it now.” Luna than noticed an army of glowing bunnies surrounding the massive tree. Luna couldn’t make out what was down there. She squinted her eyes to try to make out what they were until suddenly she fell of the edge of a steep hill. “AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH !!!!!” Little Luna screamed as she was rolling none stop down un able to slow down. End of flashback: “That's right, I remember falling down a hill, but that all I could remember.” said Luna as she rubbed her head. It was such a long time ago that she can only remember that she fell, and not much else. She heard Ori yawn, as she assumed that it was his nap time. “Well, I suppose it is your nap time.” “Alright Ori, lets head back to the castle. Hopefully sister Tia is cooled off by now.” Luna then used her magic to levitate Ori into her baby carrer, and flapped her wings, taking to the air. (Start music at 2:00) An hour later, Luna has finally arrived at the Everfree castle. As she was about to reached for the door, she was quickly found by Starswirl. “Luna where have you been? You were about to give an old stallion a heart attack.” Luna looked at him and sighed. “I apologize Star; I just had to get away from my sister for a while.” Once Luna entered the castle she looked around for her sister. “Star, has she calmed down yet?” “She’s still upset for what happened this afternoon, but it's safe to say that you won’t have to worry about her. She was looking for you earlier, but than gave up.” Said Starswirl shrugging his shoulders. Luna looked down with a sigh. "That's a relief. I just wish I've known Ori would get to sister's cake. I need to keep a special eye on him next time." Starswirl Nodded in agreement. "Indeed. I would hate to see any pony suffer her wrath." "Well, I need to get Ori to bed. Say Good night Ori." Ori made a small multi-tone noise in response. He was too tired to sound louder. Luna walked him up to her room for him to sleep. Once there, she tucked him in, and made sure he was comfortable. Luna even noticed that he still had the Smarty Pants doll with him, holding it tightly. Luna stared at him for a while, thinking about her actions earlier. So many questions ran in her head. How could she love some pony that isn't even her filly? How could she love something that could be mistaken for an animal? Why dose Ori make her feel this way? The need for a child to take care of and to love? And for some reason, no matter how hard she thought, she just couldn't find the answer to her questions... Luna was about to walk out of the room to let Ori sleep, just about to touch the door handle, when she heard something that struck her heart still. "....Mo-mmy..." Ori mumbled in his sleep. Luna's pupils shrunk into little dots, as her eyes were becoming watery. She slowly turned her head towards the bed Ori was sleeping on. ".....W-what did he say?" Luna thought. A dead silence began to fill the room. She could have misheard it, but she heard what he said loud and clear. Ori spoke. Did he really think of her as his mother? Luna was too shocked to think straight, but this feeling made her feel like she wasn't alone anymore. Perhaps this was the answer to her loneliness she has felt for so many years. Ponies never cared for Luna or her night sky and her mother was never there for her when she needed it, and now she's gone. The only ponies who care for her now is Starswirl and her older sister, but just like mother even Celestia neglects how she feels. So focused on her subjects. Just like mother was so focused on her but hardly ever Luna. The only pony that has been there for her, was Starswirl, but despite how powerful he is, even he won't be around forever. Luna wasn't sure if being this Light guardian's mother was the answer to her problems, but she saw no reason not to give it a try. Luna walked towards the bed and slowly bent down, giving the Ori a small kiss on the head. "Perhaps, this is the answer." To Be Continued. > Chapter 3: Luna's child (Unedited) > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 3: In the throne room, Luna tried to get Ori off her back telling him that he needed to be older in order for him to ride on her back but he kept trying to get on anyway. “Ori, Ori no. Get off. You can ride on me when your older but not now” Luna said with a frown. “Luna is everything alright.” Asked Starswirl who was passing by until he saw Luna having trouble with the Spirit Guardian. “O-oh good afternoon Star. How’ve have you been ?” She asked as Ori got on her back again playing with her main. “Ori !!” Starswirl chuckled. “I’m doing well. Not as young as I use to be my I magic is still raw as ever. And how the little fella? While Luna and Starswirl were talking Celestia walked by took notice of them in the throne room. “He’s fine. He gets little too curious for his own good but I think that's normal for newborn.” Luna said as she looked at Ori with loving eyes. “Um listen Starswirl, w-we need to talk.” She then noticed her sister staring at them. "Alone," Luna added. Later on Luna close the door behind her so Celestia and the others wouldn't listen in. "So, what is it you want to speak to me about Luna?" Asked Starswirl while drinking his coffee. "It's about Ori." said Luna. Starswirl looked at her with interest as he was wondering what was happening with the creature. "He spoke." "What do you mean he spoke?" "He spoke our language," she replied. Starswirl than began to cough out his coffee from the surprising news. "Are you alright teacher?" "I'm fine, I'm fine. So you're saying the Light guardian spoke? What was his word?" asked Starswirl who was excited to hear such fascinating news. Luna, however, didn't want to tell him what Ori called her. Just like Celestia, Starswirl wouldn't approve of her having a child. He was very pushy when it came to teaching her and her sister on how to be princesses so she didn't want to make things complicated. "Um, he just said my name," she responded with a nervous grin. "So he called you Luna?" She nodded in reply. "Fascinating, I assumed Light Guardians were some type of animals but now....what your telling me is that is that the light guardians were an intelligent race just like us." "Starswirl, I-I must know, what should I do with him? I want him to stay here but....." Luna didn't what to say next. She personally wants to raise Ori but she wasn't sure if it was such a good idea even for her. "Luna, you want to raise him do you?" asked Stairswirl in a calm understanding voice. Luna looked at with surprise. "If that what you want then I shall not stop you." She would think that he would be strictly against it. Stairswirld has always been a strict one this castle but instead, for once he just allows her to do what she wants. "Starswirl, teacher.....why aren't you stopping me. Normally you would lecture me about responsibility or tell try to talk me out of taking Ori in-" "I would never tell you to abandon a lost child you found in a forest. I'm too old to be ordering you around Luna." Starswirl said as he looked through his books. "When you first brought Ori in I've noticed how you looked at the boy. You looked at him with a mother's eyes. I knew then that this was a sign that you wanted to give Ori what your own mother failed to give to you. Attention, love....your mother was never there for you. Always spending time with your sister witch you held a grudge for a long time." Luna glared at remembering those times. It made her growl in anger just by thinking about. Than Starswirl turned around facing her looking her in the eye. "Which is why I believe this is your destiny to raise that child and give him what your mother failed to give you." He said putting his hoof on her shoulder. "Y-you really think I could raise h-him?" she asked Starswirl. Starswirl chuckled a little. "You may be irresponsible sometimes, but I believe when it comes to the ponies closest to you, you will always be there for him." "I-I want to believe that but...I don't think I'm that pony you believe me to be," said Luna who was very surprised to hear his words about her. "Well, you better cause that light guardian needs some pony to watch over him. Especially after the incident with Celestia yesterday." thinking back on it made Luna's shiver down her spine not wanting to repeat moment. "Besides, I won't be here forever Luna. I'm getting old, the magic that has kept me away from death will soon wear off." "What about sister Tia, you know she won't approve of this?" "Indeed She won't, She'll probably try to take Ori away but worry not. Celestia will eventually find out about the relationship between you and Ori and when she douse there is nothing she can do about it. You're a princess too." Than Starswirl suddenly packed some of his belongings with his magic and exited his laboratory. "Teacher, where are you going?" "It's Stygian, That traitor returned as the pony of shadows. I have to go stop him before plunges Equestria into darkness," said Starswirl. "When will you be back?" The Princess asked. "...Not sure, soon I hope," he said as he waved his goodbye to her as he left the castle of the two sisters. Later on, Luna was pushing Ori on the swing outside the castle. Then they played a little bit of hide and seek. Luna was seeking while Ori was hiding but no matter where Ori hid, Luna always found him because he was always glowing. The only least favorite thing Ori liked was when Luna forced him to take a bath. Well, I guess saying "Least Favorite" is putting it mildly. He hated it when Luna forced him to shower. When it was night time Luna allowed Ori to stay up so he could see her using her magic to rise up the moon. Ori loved looking at the stars and Ori loved when Luna rises up the moon. He could look at the night sky all night until he was tired out. Once he did than Luna used her magic to pick him up and carried him to bed. She tucked him in and gave him a good night kiss as he got comfortable on Luna's bed. "Good night Ori." Ori opened his left eye a little bit as he mumbled. Luna couldn't understand what he just said. All she heard strange animal-like sounds. However, she could tell that he wished her a good night too. Luna smiled as she closed the door so Ori could sleep but what she didn't notice is that her older sister Celestial was standing right behind her which startled her a little. Celestia looked at her with a suspicious look in her eyes. She sighs first before she could speak. "Luna, we need to talk. It's about that creature. I'm beginning to think you're raising a child instead of keeping it as a pet." That made Luna chuckle as she almost blushed. "Oh, dear sister that sounds crazy. Why would you ever think that ?" "Don't lie to me," Celestia said in an emotionless voice. "You know its true. That creature has been here for over a month and all you've been doing to taking care of him like he's your own. You're a princess Luna and you've been far behind on your Princes duties. We don't have time to raise children here." “I-I know I'm a little behind than I should but-" Luna was interrupted by sister again. "Luna, I think you need to get rid of him." "WHAT, NO !!" Luna shouted. "But Luna your not his mother !!” "I'm not mothering him !" Said, Luna, until she accidentally dropped a teddy bear on the floor that made a squeaking sound. Celestia noticed it and then frown at Luna. Luna just smiled at Celestia in embarrassment. "Hehe. Sigh, Okay I'll try to make it at the Manehatten Festival. I promise." "Good because I expect you to be there. These ponies are counting on us and we can't afford any distractions. Their first ever mayor expects us to be there." Celestia explained as she trotted away. --------- Later early in the morning at 6:00 A.m Ori woke up and found himself sleeping on Luna's lap. They were high in the sky in a carriage as two of Luna's totals guards were pulling it. "I didn't want to wake you up," said Luna keeping him warm in her arms. "But I think your going have fun today." Forty minutes later they arrived at Manehatten. Ori was looking down at the village with wonder in his eyes. It was a big village that went on for miles. (Manehatten was a lot deferent back than. There were no skyscrapers. Just a normal old fashion village. But it was still big.) Luna finally landed as they saw a huge crowd of ponies in the community park facing the stage as the village's first mayor was about to introduce the princess. Luna quickly trotted at the back of the stage where her sister was and Ori fallowed. Once Luna got there her sister faced her with an angry expression. "You are late !!" Said, Celestia. "I'm sorry sister, but Ori needed his sleep." "Will talk about this later but for now get ready." She said as she then ordered the ponies to quickly put make up on her sister for about a couple of seconds as the curtains were about to open. "My fellow citizens of Manehatten, I present to you, Princess Celestia and her younger sister Princess Luna." The curtains than open and Ori saw a huge crowd staring right at him as he heard the crowd roaring with excitement as they saw the princesses. Ori was scared so he hid behind Luna. Celestia than rose up from the sky than used her magic to rise up the sun. Everyone eyed at their princess with astonishment, even Ori was amazed. Little did he realized that Luna was rising up to the sky and was about to use her magic to lower the moon but however before she could Ori herd horrifying scream. One of the villagers saw him as the frighten mare pointed her hoof wright at him. “AAAAAAAAHHHH, WHAT IS THAT THING !!!?" Than every pony stared at him as the whole crowd started to panic as their first mayor called out to the guards. "Guards, guards !! Get that thing off the stage !!" Then a whole group of armored stallions came with share sticks and a net. Ori was now extremely frightened as all he could think of was running but there was nowhere to run to so he bundled up in fear. Luna quickly reacted before it was too late so she got in front of him protecting him from harm."Wait, please he's just a-" But they did not listen. They were too focused on getting rid of him. "STOP !!" She used her royal traditional Canterlot voice. "Stop it. You are scaring him !" Every pony completely stopped at her mighty Canterlot voice but the silence came to an end when Celestia shouted at her sister in anger. " LUNA, YOU HAVE DONE IT NOW !!! THAT THING INTERRUPTED OUR CONCENTRATION AND NOW LOOK WHAT HAPPENED !!!?" Luna looked up and realized the sun went up but the moon did not go down. She then looked at the clock tower and noticed it was past 7:25. Luna frowned as she knew she was in deep trouble. Everything was a mess. The mayor decided to step in. "Listen, your majesty, I should take the responsibility for what happened-" The Mayor knew that this was his fault too for adding fuel to the fire. "No it's alright. Its no one else's fault except for my sister." Said, Celestia, as glared at her younger sister with disappointment. Ori noticed this and he didn't like the fact that every pony was pointing hooves at her just for protecting him. Ori Growled at Celestia with anger and was tempted to attack the princes but was stopped by Luna. "ORI DONT !, that won't solve anything." She said scolding him. Ori than calmed down as he did what he was told that got off the stage. The crowd of watch as Ori got off the stage. Never before have they seen such a creature. Some ponies thought it looked cute, others were afraid of it fearing what it was. "What is that thing? It's like glowing." "Its some kind of monster !" "Well, I think it looks cute." "Well, I think it's dangerous !" "It's so adorable !!" "What is that? Some kind of bunny !?" "I want one. Can I have one mommy ?" asked one filly but her mother scolded her daughter and said. "NO WAY, STAY AWAY FROM THAT…. THAT….THING !!" Ori didn't know what to feel. He heard the crowd of ponies says both mean things and good things about him. It didn't matter. They were afraid of him and that's what hurt him the most. Ori sat on the bench waiting for Luna to finish fixing the mess that happened earlier. While he was waiting for the ponies that were passing by kept staring at him. Ether in fear or in curiosity. Ori realized something today. He didn't like ponies staring at him. It made look like a freak. Moments later he noticed Luna trotting towards him with a basket in her mouth. She signaled him to fallow her as Ori than climbed and started to ride on her back while Luna was trotting up the hill. Once they made it to the top Luna got out a white and red striped blanket and laid it on the ground. Than luna opened the basket and brought out some delicious food for her and Ori to eat. Ori Smiled as he watches Luna serve him a veggie sandwich with some chopped up apples on the side and a cupcake. However, Ori could only eat baby food since he was still considered a baby. Ori was drinking milk from a baby bottle as he noticed in the distance that there was a huge crowd of ponies who've been wanting to speak with the princess of the sun. Princess Celestia was flooded with so many questions. It was like her very own fan club. However, Ori wondered, knowing how famous Celestia is, how come nobody wanted to speak with Luna? she's a princess to wright? That question rang in Ori's head for a while. "If only they knew." Ori Looked at Luna as she spoke as she watched her sister being loved by every pony in the whole city. "If only they knew how beautiful my night sky is. How the stars shoot across the sky. How my moon shines like a night light. But no, all they care about is my sisters blue sky and how the sun gives them warmth. That is why my sister was up there and not me." Ori is a bit too young to understand ponies. As a matter of fact, he was recently born not too long ago but he did know one thing. His mother shouldn't have gotten in trouble for protecting him from those hostel ponies. Now that he thinks about it, he noticed he isn't the only one being miss treated. His own mother was in the same boat as he was. They didn't fear her not like they were with him but they still treated her somewhat unfairly compared to her older sister. Than suddenly noticed something suspicious in the bushes up ahead as he went to check it out. As he got closer he noticed a young cowboy hat wearing colt was doing something strange. His main was black and his fur was brown. He was pretty suspicious indeed as he kept collecting some stuff off of plants. He was grabbing stuff off of a cattail from the pond and putting them in a bag. "Dang nabbit, There has to be more somewhere." As Ori looked closer he accidentally fell making noise which startled the young colt as he began to panic. "Aah, no officer I wasn't disturbing the piece, I swear !!" Suddenly the colt opened his eyes and noticed that it wasn't the local sharif at all. It was actually something he has never seen before. "What in tarnation is that ?" Out of curiosity, the young colt trotted closer towards the white glowing creator as he took a good look at it from top to bottom."Is it a rabbit ?" As he looked at its ears. "Or maybe a cat ?" than its furry face. He then finally looked at its legs and noticed there were hooves. "Possibly a pony ?" Ori got back up on both hands and hooves and he approached the young colt as he wanted to know what he was doing. Ori couldn't talk so he didn't know how to ask but he did point at the colt's little bag signaling him as he wanted to know what was in theirs. "Huh ?" Said the Colt as he figured what the creature was trying to ask. "Oh, this is just a hobby I do. I plan to collect seeds of all types all over the globe." Ori tilted his head to the side in confusion not understand why this kid would collect so many seeds. The colt noticed his confusion and just faced the ground in sadness. "Its….Its a hobby of mine you wouldn't understand. The names Alexander Hooves O' Maxxon the third. But you can just call me by my last name. It's Smith." (Granny Smith's father and Apple Jack’s great-grandfather.) Ori was about to greet Smith somehow but before he could a blue wearing stallion came by and snatch your colt off his hooves. "Well, well if it isn't Smith. I expected you caused trouble here. Wait till your father hears about this !" "Y-you got the wrong idea Officer Law. I-I was just collecting seeds." Smith pleaded as he struggled from the stallion's grip "Yeah right. Every time I catch your, your ether disturbing the peace or trespassing other pony's property. You're lucky I'm not allowed to press charges on a kid or I'll-" Suddenly out of nowhere Officer Law felt something bite him in his flank. "GHAAAAAAAH !!!!" Ori didn't like how this stallion was being such a bully to this odd colt so Ori decided to step up and bite him in the butt. The Police officer tried to shake Ori off but the Light Guardian's teeth were locked tight on his flank. "What in the hay is this thing ?!? GET HIM OFF !!! SOMPONY HELP ME !!!" Ori held on to him tight until. "ORI !!!!" Ori quickly opened his mouth as he recognized the voice. He whipped his head towards where he heard it and saw none other than Princess Luna. Ori noticed that she was very upset with him and he knew he was in trouble. "No Law biting !! You are such a bad boy for doing that. I am very disappointed in you !!" Luna shouted at him with anger. She could not believe how bad Ori was being. Ori felt nothing but gelt as he never meant to get his own mother upset. He just wanted to help the colt the only way he knew how. That's all. "I'm so sorry Officer Law, this is Ori my so-…..I mean my……nevermind. Please do forgive him, Officer. He is young, he doesn't know any better." "I-I would have never expected you would be here Princess Luna. Shouldn't you be with your sister ?" Officer Law asked hesitantly not expecting one of the princesses. "My Big sister, She’s doing fine on her own," Luna responded why rolling her eyes. After Luna spoke with the officer she continued to skull'd at the light guardian for biting him in the butt. After that was taken care of Luna made her way back to the picnic. "Ori, come finish your food." "Well, I guess I'll be heading back too. Uh...thank for sticking up for me...What his name again?" the small colt asked. "His name is Ori." She replied with a smile. "Ori?" the young colt said to himself. "That's a mighty nice name." He then waved goodbye as he went home. Ori couldn't help but continue the stare at the young colt. Perhaps he was curious or maybe he was interested in being the colts friends. It was hard to tell since Ori couldn't talk. Later on at the Castle Celestia was furries at what happened at the festival. When they first entered the castle Celestia started shouted at Luna and kept telling her that it was all her fault. Ori didn't like how Celestia was shouting at the one pony that took him in and wanted to bite her or something but he knew Luna wouldn't like that. "Today was a disaster luna!! That ....w-whatever i-it is, has to go!" shouted Celestia as pointed at Ori who was being held in Luna's arms. "Sister leave him alone! He's just a baby! Why do you hate him so much? Is it because he's deferent?!" "No, I-" Not wanting to discriminate Celestia tried to calm herself by taking a deep breath and tried to choose her words carefully."I-I don't trust that thing, Luna. The magic I sense from this creature is unlike anything I've ever felt before. You're so attached to this creature that it's becoming a bit concerning." "And you don't think I sense it too? Sister, Ori could be capable of wonderful things. Even though his magic is something unknown to us, that doesn't make him our enemy. He's part of this family rather you like it or not." said Luna looking up at her sister's face as she refused to give in her sister's demands. Celestia maybe the head princess in this country but Luna has the authority of a leader too. Luna doesn't have the same control as her older sister but just enough for her to make her own decisions. Celestia cocked her eye by her sister's words."So then, you WERE' planning on raising him as your son." Luna smiled worriedly as she tried to figure out something to say to her sister but it was no use. Her sister was going to figure out eventually. Luna sigh as she stared at Ori for a while before facing her sister. "Yes my dear sister. He is my adopted son. He is not an apprentice, nor is he some wild animal I found in the forest. He is an intelligent creature who is equal to pony kind." "Sister, have you lost it?! What makes you thin-" "...Mama" Suddenly both eyes towards the lights guardian as they both heard him speak. "Ori, what did you just say?!" asked Luna as her older sister's jaw dropped. They both stared at the strange creature waiting for him to say it again. "Say it, say it again. Say, mama, say mama." They waiting for about a moment until. "...Mama." "Oh my gosh, Sister he spoke again!" Luna got so excited she could just scream. She suddenly got on her hind legs and started dancing around and around while holding on to her son. Celestia was dumbstruck. She never would have expected that thing to speak. She now knew things were going to change around here and ponies everywhere would want to know who is their new prince is. Rumors will spread across the castle that will soon spread everywhere. The princess of the sun was curious but at the same time, a bit worried. What would this mean for Equestria? There were so many questions that were in Celestia's head that she couldn't even imagine this thing being next in line of the throne. "Oh no," Celestia mumbled as she watched her sister dance with her baby. To be Continued.
