> The Outlands of Equestria > by CloverStarshine > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Chapter 1: The Collapsing Land > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 1 The morning sun seeped through the crystal windows of her chamber. She awoke with a yawn, her mane a frizzled mess. Everything was calm today. Clear skies, no threats, no problems. Twilight walked to her window and brushed her blue-violet mane. Breakfast came next. Then a normal day in Ponyville. Maybe spa day could come. No it was Tuesday. Which meant Fluttershy had her tea party with Discord. Guess it'll have to wait till the afternoon. After a calm breakfast she was just about to head to her library when, a piece of the roof came crashing down. What in Equestria?, thought Twilight. Next thing she knew Spike came crashing in. "Spike!," yelled Twilight. "What is going on?" "I don't know Twi," said Spike. Then a crash came from outside. The two hurried out, only to be welcomed by cracking floors and falling trees. Screams filled the air. This is, thought Twilight. Chaos. Without another thought she teleported to Fluttershy's cottage, which was falling through a hole in the floor. "Oh my gosh Angel!," yelled Fluttershy. "He's still inside." "I got it," said Discord. He teleported inside the cottage then came out just in time as the cottage fell into deep darkness. "Discord what's this about?," asked Twilight. "Well me and Fluttershy were having our weekly tea party," started Discord. "Then all of a sudden the cottage tilts and next thing I know, we had to get every single animal out." "No I mean why are you doing this?," said Twilight. "Wait you think I'm doing this?," asked Discord. He then shot on laughing. "Wow you're even dumber than I thought." "Don't play dumb Discord," said Twilight. "I know you're behind this." "You think I would do this?," asked Discord. "Sweet little old me?" A halo appeared on top of him. "As if I would believe you," said Twilight. "No Twilight," said Fluttershy. "He really is innocent." She didn't trust him but if Fluttershy said he was innocent, maybe it was so. "Okay so if he didn't do it," said Twilight. "Then who?" Just then Spike barfed out a letter from Celestia. Twilight read the letter then gasped. Before any one could ask anything she was already off. Canterlot wasn't any better than Ponyville. Holes in the doors, dying plants, screams. What was going on. The throne room shook and rumbled. Pieces of the roof fell and created cracks on the floor. She saw the three princesses, taking cover. "Princess Twilight," said Celestia. "Thank goodness you came." "Princess Celestia what is going on?," asked Twilight. "Did Discord do it? Even though Fluttershy might had said otherwise, there's no telling." "No Discord has nothing to do with this," said Celestia. "Even his magic can cause this much chaos." "Then who is responsible?," asked Twilight. She shivered at the thought of a new foe. Especially if it was an all powerful being. "No one," said Celestia. "What?!," asked Twilight. "You see," started Celestia. "Equestria is dying." Her heart stopped. "What do you mean by, dying?," asked Twilight. "You see," said Luna. "Equestria is older than any of us. But, it also needs something to survive. The plant that occupies that duty is no more. And if we don't do something quickly, Equestria will be no more." "But that's impossible!," yelled Twilight. "How could Equestria be dying?! Didn't the Tree of Harmony keep it alive?" "The Tree keeps harmony alive," said Celestia. "But the Flower of Life maintains Equestria." She stepped back. Equestria? Dying? thought Twilight. It seemed impossible. "What can we do?," she uttered. "There is a seed," said Celestia. "Known as the Reviving Seed it can restore life to a dying kingdom. If we plant it, Equestria will survive." "Okay so where can I find it?," asked Twilight. The princesses shared looks. Worried looks. "What's wrong?," asked Twilight. "That's the thing," said Cadence. "The seed doesn't grow near here." "So is it at the edge of Equestria?," asked Twilight. Celestia took a deep breath. "I'm afraid it's not in Equestria. But in the outlands." "What do you mean?," asked Twilight as another piece of the roof fell to the ground. "What she means," said Luna. "Is that the Reviving Seed resides outside of Equestria, in the lands beyond." "But going there is of great risk," said Celestia. "For no one knows of what could be lurking there." "The Outlands are very different from Equestria," said Cadence. "We don't even know what kinds of creatures live there." "Well we do know that Tirek's kind resides there," said Celestia. "But other than that our knowledge is low." "We also don't know how magic works there," said Luna. "T'us it's too risky for us to go." "How about me," said Twilight. "Me and my friends could go to the Outlands to retrieve the Seed." "But Twilight," warned Cadence. "The Outlands could be dangerous. You might not return." "But we can't just let Equestria die," said Twilight. "Then I will let you go," said Celestia. "But let me tell you this won't be like all of your other quests. You will face many obstacles along your way. Oh and I think you should bring Discord along." Twilight groaned at the idea. "Why should I? He's only gonna slow down the trip and annoy us." "True but you might need someone with magic like this to succeed," said Celestia. "Fine," sighed Twilight. "I suppose you're right." Truth be told, she wanted the least for Discord to come along. He would just hold them back. And even though Fluttershy said it wasn't his fault, Twilight still thought that he was responsible for this. As well as he would just mock them and joke with them on the trip. He would be just useless. But there was no use to argue with the princess. She probably knew what she was deciding on. I hope thought Twilight. "You must hurry Twilight," said Celestia. "For time is ticking." Twilight nodded then ran out of the castle, avoiding the holes and falling debris of the castle. She just hoped that they found the Seed. > Chapter 2: The Task > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 2 Applejack 's normal workday included bucking apples and baking pie. It didn't include falling trees and wood. She rushed to her sister's room bursting through the door. "Apple Bloom!," she yelled dodging the falling debris. "Apple Bloom where are you?!" "Applejack!," screamed the filly. She was under her bed, taking cover from the wood. "Applejack what's going on? Is it an earthquake?" "Probably so!," said Applejack, pulling her little sister from under the bed. "It's happening all over Ponyville! We have to get out of here!" The two rushed out the barn as it collapsed. "Our home!," yelled Apple Bloom. "Well better to loose that than you," said Applejack. "But where can we take cover?," asked Apple Bloom. "Maybe Twilight has a-." She stopped and looked at the village before her. It crumbled and buildings collapsed as ponies rushed, screaming. "This is no earthquake," said Applejack. "This is chaos," said Apple Bloom. Chaos thought Applejack. Could it be. Nah, even Discord's magic can't cause this much damage. This couldn't even be his magic. The only pony who would know of such things would be Twilight. So she and Apple Bloom ran to Twilight's castle, dodging holes and falling debris. But finally, they made it to the castle. "Who's there?," called a voice. "Rainbowdash?," asked Applejack. "Aj?," she asks. "Is that you?" Applejack quickly ran towards the throne room. She then saw the rest mane six, along with Spike, Discord, Scootaloo, and Sweetie Belle. "Where's Twilight?," asked Applejack. "She's at Canterlot," replied Spike. "What's going on?," asked Rarity. "I don't suppose you have anything to do with this?," asked Rainbowdash, pointing at Discord. "Well I am highly offended Rainbowdash," says Discord. "Just because I'm the Spirit of Chaos doesn't mean I'm guilty for everything bad that happen in Equestria." "I hate to admit it but, Discord's right," says Applejack. "Even his magic couldn't make this much destruction." "Then what is going on?," asked Fluttershy. Just then, Twilight crashed into the castle. "Guys I have to tell you all something!" "What is it?," asked Fluttershy. "The problem is that-Equestria-is-dying-because-the-Flower-of-Life-is-dead-so-we-all-except-the-Crusaders-have-to-venture-to-the-Outlands-of-Equestria-to-find-this-Reviving-Seed-that-can-save-Equestria-but-the-Outlands-could-be-dangerous-and-we-might-not-ever-get-out-and-that-would-mean-Equestria-would-be-no-more," says Pinkie Pie. Twilight's mouth dropped open. "How'd you know?" "Just a hunch," answered Pinkie, smiling. "So let me get this straight," said Rainbowdash. "We have to go outside of Equestria?" "Yes," said Twilight. "And we have to go, now!" "But what about food?," asked Rainbowdash. "I'm sure Discord could handle that," said Twilight. "Wait," said Rainbowdash. "He's coming too?" "Celestia insisted," said Twilight. "But we have to go, now!" "Fine," said Rainbowdash, sighing. "Will there be danger." "Probably so," said Twilight. "What about us?," asked Apple Bloom. "You three stay here till we return," said Applejack. "Got it. And if the place starts to fall apart, run away." The Crusaders all hugged their sisters. Then, with a final goodbye, the Mane along with Spike and Discord teleported to the edge of Equestria, only to be met by the ocean. "How will we get across?," asked Rarity. "Leave that to me," said Discord. He snapped his fingers and a large boat appeared. "All aboard the Chaos Express!" "Okay he might be helpful," said Rainbowdash. "But that doesn't mean he's not annoying." Twilight just sighed. "I still don't get why I have to come," asked Spike. Why did he have to come thought Twilight. He could've stayed home safely. But they needed him to deliver messages to the princess just in case. "So we could message Celestia on our progress," said Twilight. Spike then nodded. At least he got to go on a quest with the Element Bearers. Which barely happened. So he was glad. The girls and Spike climbed aboard the ship, and sailed into the unknown. Back at the Crystal Empire, Cadence and Shining Armor armor were doing their best to protect the crystal ponies, and their daughter, Princess Flurry Heart. "Everypony calm down," said Cadence. "Calm down?," asked Amethyst Maresbury. "The Empire is falling apart! How do you suppose we calm down?" "Listen it's just a simple earthquake," lied Cadence. Last thing she needed was a mob of frightened ponies. "Just stay safe and everything will be just fine." When she entered the castle, Shining Armor asked, "Just an earthquake? Cadence what's really going on. It's not Discord is it?" "No honey it's not," said Cadence. "If I tell you, you can't tell anyone else, okay?" He nodded. Taking a deep breath, she said, "Equestria is dying. The Flower of Life is no more so, well you know. So we sent Twilight and her friends to retrieve the Reviving Seed. Which is located in the Outlands." "The Outlands!," screamed Shining Armor. "Cadence how could you've sent Twili to the Outlands?" "Don't worry," said Cadence. "They brought Discord. Also Spike so if they're in trouble, we'll know." "But she could get hurt," said Shining Armor. "Don't worry," said Cadence. "I'm sure she'll be fine." But deep down inside she wasn't sure. She hoped she would be. But Twilight's been through worse. Right? I mean, she and her friends fought nightmare alicorns, chaos gods, changling armies, vines, magic stealing centaurs, and possibly more. The castle shook once more, sending debris to the ground. She also hoped that they returned quickly. Clutching Flurry Heart in her hooves, the family ran out of the room. If the Mane didn't return with the Seed, Equestria would be no more. And so would the ponies and creatures who inhabited the land. > Chapter 3: Into the Outlands > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 3 Twilight had never been in the ocean. In fact never out of Equestria. So her knowledge of it was very low. So when the fog came in, they almost got lost. "I can't see a thing," said Rainbowdash. "We've been traveling for hours. Nearly a day! I think." "We just have to sell straight," said Twilight. "But can't Discord just teleport us there?," asked Rainbowdash. "I can't do it if I don't even know where we're heading," said Discord. "The best option for us is like I said," said Twilight. "To just sail straight." Then, she saw something. It was a-. "Land ho!," Pinkie Pie yelled. "Wait wha-," started Twilight. Suddenly, the boat crashed and they were washed away. "Ow my head," said Twilight as she as she rose, rubbing her head. She then regained consciousness and realized they were standing, or at least her, on a beach. In front of her was the fogged ocean, and ahead, layed her dying home. She then stood up, and called for her friends. "Applejack! Rainbowdash! Pinkie Pie! Can you guys hear me! Where are you?!" Her ears perked up to a call for her name. "Applejack?," she asked. She ran to were she heard the noise come from. Applejack was on a tree branch, her tail caught in it. "I might need some help here," she said. "Hold on I got you," said Twilight, using her magic to untangle the cowgirl. She jumped down, as Twilight said, "Help me find the others." The friends looked everywhere to find the rest of the group. They found Rarity under a branch of a tree, stuck in tree sap. "Uggh I'm ruined," she whined. "Now I'll never get the mud out of my mane." "At least y'all still alive," said Applejack. "You didn't expect to not get dirty." "No just, not this messed up," said Rarity. Applejack rolled her eyes. They found Pinkie Pie buried under the sand, and Rainbowdash covered with crabs. "This is totally not painful," she said, hiding the pain. "I'm on it," said Applejack, walking towards her. "You three find the rest." They nodded and kept seeking. Spike was stuck on a tree so Rarity got him down. Twilight counted six of them. "Where's Fluttershy and-," she stopped when she heard leaves rustled. "Ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch," said Discord as he fell from branch to branch, then finally, hit the ground. Fluttershy fell afterwards, dizzy. "That answer your question," said Applejack. "Guess so," said Twilight. "Ouch!," shrieked Rainbowdash. "Hey watch it! I would like to keep my wings thank- youch!" "Stay still," said Applejack. "Just one more to go." "You don't tell me to ouch!," shrieked Rainbowdash once more. "There," said Applejack, spitting the crab out. Rainbowdash shook dry, then they all turned to Twilight. "What now?," asked Rainbowdash. "I think we uh, enter the forest," said Twilight, unsure. She didn't even know where they were. The group stared at her. But as unsure as they were, they just walked into the forest. "Uggh I can't take this heat," whined Rarity. "I feel my mane literally sticking to my neck." "Well ya didn't expect a novelty trip did ya Rarity?," asked Applejack. "Well you wouldn't know since the farm life has gotten you used to it," said Rarity. "It's not like you would understand." "Are you implying that I'm dumb?," said Applejack eyeing Rarity. "No. Just inexperienced," said Rarity. "I think I know when it's hot Rarity," said Applejack annoyed. "Just cause I'm a farmer doesn't make me dumber than you. Just cause you have class." "Oh you don't even know what you're talking about," said Rarity. "Not everyone was made in a city and taught matters." "Say what now!," yelled Applejack. "You take that back Ms. Drama Queen!" "Oh I'm not the one yelling!," declared Rarity. "Stop it! Both of you," said Twilight. "Arguing won't make any difference." "Well maybe it wouldn't be happening if the Spirit of Disharmony weren't here," said Rainbowdash. "Oh it's my fault now," said Discord. "And why would that be?" "Because everywhere you go there's trouble," said Rainbowdash. "Ohh super argument center," said Pinkie Pie. "This calls for a-." "Can it Pinkie!," said everyone except Fluttershy. "Well at least I'm trying to help!," said Pinkie Pie. "Why would a party be helpful?," asked Applejack annoyed. "Because it brings happiness and smiles!," yelled Pinkie Pie. "Well it won't work now!," yelled Rainbowdash. The ponies kept on arguing and arguing. "Should we interfere?," asked Spike. "I really don't know," said Twilight. "But we're wasting time and we need-." Before she could finish her thoughts she heard a branch snap. The group all quieted down, perking their ears up (except for Spike who apparently didn't have ears that perked up). Soon their eyes fell on Discord. "What are you guys all staring at?," asked Discord confused. But they kept their eyes on him. "Okay what's with the awkward silence. Seriously you're creeping me out." Then something tackled Discord to the ground. The group was suddenly surrounded. "What in Equestria!," yelled Twilight. A, -pony?-walked towards her. She removed her mask and eyed the young alicorn. She had mahogany eyes, a light tan coat. But what was so shocking about her were her wings. They were completely lot up by fire! "Well hello there," she said. "Exuse us for the disturbance and, rough first impression. I'm Commander Torrid, but you can call me Torrid. As I said, please forgive us for our roughness. Just that your pet dracunaquus alarmed us." "Pet!," yelled Discord. "Who are you calling a pet you little-." He launched towards her but was held back by some type of magic proof ropes. "Ha!," laughed Torrid. "Try getting out of those anti-dracunaquus ropes. Magic proofed made by the King himself." "You can let him go," said Fluttershy. "He's not really evil once you get to know him. He won't be a threat." "Sorry Rose but I only talk to leaders," said Torrid. "So Lavender, what's your name, whatha doing here, and is your pet safe around here." > Chapter 4:Making Allies, Probably > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "I uh," stuttered Twilight. "My name is Tw-Twilight Sparkle. I'm known as the Pri-princess of Friendship in Equestria. And don't worry about Discord. He's not a threat." Torrid gave her a menacing look that have Twilight chills. She then nodded her head at the other Pegasi Phoenix and they let Discord go. He glared at Torrid . "Oh where are me manner,," said Torrid. "Yer clearly aren't here to steal, I'm sure. Follow me and ye can tell me why ya, yer friendz and little pet are here." "If you call me 'pet' one more time I'm gonna," said Discord, but Fluttershy put a hoof over him to calm him down. The group followed Torrid, with Twilight and her at the front, with Torrid's group surrounding the others. "So, Princezz Twilight I presume," said Torrid. "What bringz ya and yer friends to ze Outlandz?" "Well uh Torrid," said Twilight. "Me and my friends came here because our homeland is dying, falling apart. We came to find the Reviving Seed. So don't worry, we won't be any trouble." "Oh but trouble iz one of many zat describes the Outlandz," said Torrid. "Huh?," asked Twilight. "What do you mean by that?" "You'll zee," said Torrid. The group soon arrived at a large gate. It was surrounded by black brick walls and had ivy growing on them. The gates opened and the group entered what appeared to be a small village. "Welcome to our home village," said Torrid. The other strange pegasus all gave some glances at them. Especially Discord and Twilight. ************* "What's with the creepy stares?," asked Discord. "Well we don't get many alicornz or Equestrianz around," replied Torrid. "And we all don't very much want any dracunaquuzez here. So get used to it." They soon approached a tall castle. It had red and black bricks and tall windows. The tips of the towers were on fire! When they entered more creepy stares came in. "It's like that time we arrived at Starlight's village," whispered Rainbow Dash. "Only these guys have spears and weapons on them." "I don't like this," whispered Fluttershy. "What if they hurt us?! What if-." "Don't you worry my dear," said Discord. "If any of these losers hurt you, I'll take care of them." He really despised them. Especially their little leader. But he also didn't want a clan war. Soon they entered a large room and the group was left alone with Torrid. "Um, Torrid," said Twilight. "What are you if you don't mind me asking." "Not at all mate," said Torrid. "We're known as Phoenix Pegasi. One of the many creaturez in the Outlandz. Now ya said ya wanted the Reviving Seed right?" She then opened a big map showing all of Outlands. "Ze Seed is known to be at the edge of the Outlandz," said Torrid. "Ze journey is very dangerouz so you must be careful. And be sure to stay away from those pesky Icecornz." "Wait you despised them?," asked Twilight. "Don't you guys get along. You know, use the power of friendship." Torrid burst out laughing. "Ya really think we use the magic of friendship here? Listen kid, I'm telling ya one thing and it's this. The word friendship or harmony ain't exist here. Ya can't trust no one. All they want is the gold and power. And don't think King Adder is all good. He's worse. So ya stay away. One thing's for certain, he ain't like Equestrians. So stay clear out of him." "But you said we couldn't trust anyone," said Twilight. "So why should we trust you?" "Let's just say, I'm ze only one not in for ze power and gold," said Torrid. "All I just want is to a-stay all out of trouble ya hear. Willin' to help just to know whether zer's anyone I can trust. Ya see, out here, it's everyone for themselves. Tell ya one thing, would really love to see Equestria plus experience friendship." "But why can't you all just get along?," asked Twilight. "I told you swanee," said Torrid. "All want power and gold. Even can't trust your own kingdom mates. So y'all might want to do me some favor and, take me to yer land? Promise won't do any damage." "But if you really want to go why don't you go yourself?," asked Twilight. "Would've done it by now," said Torrid. "Can't do it. I go so well everyone else. And they ain't your friendly neighbor who bring ya fresh cookies every morning. They want ze gold, ze power." "We'll do what we can," said Twilight. "But, could we take the map just so we don't get lost." "Sure thing mate," said Torrid. "Just make sure ya bring it back ya hear?" "Understood," said Twilight, taking the map. As the group left Torrid said, "Oh and one more thing. Good luck. Y'all need it." *************** "Finally," said Discord in relief after they had exited the village. "I'm glad we're out of that place. Talk about hostility. Am I right." Twilight just sat down and opened the map. The Outlands were way bigger than Equestria. And way dangerous based on what Torrid had said. "C'mon," said Twilight, pointing Northwest. "Let's head this way." > Arguments and Memories > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The land around them became forested, heat came in even though the trees covered most of the sun. For some reason, this seemed too familiar to Discord. And then he heard some voices, and a faded memory came into his head. "Why are there so many trees covering the sun?," he remembered asking. He must have been three or four because he looked way shorter than he usually was. "Eh, i guess the Spring Alicorns's may have overdid their work," said a female voice, who liked quite a lot like a draconequus. "Hey maybe we should head out there and ask them to take leaves down." "Isn't that the Fall Alicorns's job?," he remembered asking. "Spring, Fall whatever," said the female draconequus. "Heck just cause I'm freaking Princess of Centaria doesn't mean i have to be so casual." "You always say that as an exuse for slacking off," he remembered saying. "Me slacking off? Please, that's Clover's job," said the female draconequus. "Again, exuses," he remembered saying as he smirked. "Pffth, whatever Discord. You want be Prince Casual, fine by me," said the female draconequus. "But i sure hope you aren't too casual for hugs." He remembered being hug by her, but who was she? "Sis!," he remembered saying. Sis? But why had he called her that? The memory faded before anything else happened. "You okay?," asked Fluttershy as she walked alongside a zoning out Discord. "What, oh? What do you mean?," asked Discord, looking at the pegasus. "You seemed to be, zoning out," said Fluttershy. "Yeah uh," started Discord, but thought, what could he say? Even he couldn't make sense about what had just happened. Weren't you the one who said there was no fun in making sense? A voice said in his head. Dang it! He hated it when something he said was backfired by something he said. Wait does that even make since? Uggh! This was all too confusing to take in right now. It wasn't like the heat from this place wasn't affecting him. And just as he suspected, it began to affect the others. "How long till the next village?" Rainbow whined as she flew low, the heat weighing upon her.. "We've been walking on for hours." "You mean we've been walking on for hours," said Applejack. "Ya have been flying and not placing a single hoof in the ground. You shouldn't be complaining how your hooves hurt." "Uh, I'm talking about my wings AJ," said Rainbow. "Anyone with half a brain would know that." "Are you suggesting I'm dumb?" said Applejack giving Rainbow a stern look. "I'm just saying you should know what I was implying." said Rainbow. "Well if it's too much trouble why don't ya take your poor wings back to Equestria?" said Applejack. "Duh because you totally need my awesomeness to survive this place," bragged Rainbow. "We have alicorn magic, dracunaquus magic, and a dragon who could contact Princess Celestia in case of emergencies," reminded Applejack. "I think we'll do just fine without you." "Oh so now I have to leave just because I asked," said Rainbow. Both mares stopped, glaring at each other as the others groan for another one of their usual fights began. "Well if it's such a problem maybe ya should leave," Applejack finally snapped. “You’re the one with the problem. Why don’t you leave?” Rainbow retorted. "Cause I ain't bragging about myself." said Applejack. "I'm this close to taking their mouths away," "Just don't," said Fluttershy. "It'll only get worse. Trust me, I know." "Uggh can you two stop fighting?" Rarity complained. "The heat of this place is already tiresome enough." "Oh, so that's the problem Rarity," Applejack rounded on her. "You being tired and hot while our homeland is getting destroyed?" "Well, how can you simply think in this heat?" said Rarity. "Though I'm not surprised that a farmer doesn't know heat when there is." "Can all of you just shut up?" interrupted Discord [Suggested rewrite: Discord interrupted]. "Oh, sorry are we annoying you," said Rainbow. "Then why don't you go back to the Canterlot Gardens if it's such a big problem.” "Rainbow Dash now that's a bit too harsh don't you think?!," yelled Fluttershy defending her friend. "Oh don't worry dear, I think maybe I should just blast her there and see how she likes being a monument," said Discord. "QUIET!," yelled Twilight, turning around and stomping her hooves in front of her friends, grabbing their attention. "In case you don't know, Fighting and arguing won't get us anywhere. Just forget about it. Please, for the sake of Equestria." Rainbow, Applejack, and Discord stopped but gave themselves menacing glares as the group continued on their way. "Now, if my calculations are correct," said Twilight. "There should be a village nearby. Now if they pose a threat, we avoid them and run away. The last thing we need is a war. Got it?" Her friends nodded, sighing in relief as the crisis between her friends was averted. The group continued to a town which was larger than Torrid's, also much brighter. According to the map this place was known as Mothia. It was getting darker than what the place usually was , and the group was getting tired (except for Discord because heaven knows how that guy doesn't get tired). Torrid had told them to stay away from anyone and any place, but for all Twilight knew it could be another lie. For instance, how could friendship not exist here? She was sure that the Phoenix Pegasus had been pulling her leg. There was not a single possibility that was true. "I think we should camp in that village there," said Twilight. "Can't we camp out here?" asked Applejack. "I mean, it would be safer than being in that strange village." "Yeah, and I wouldn't want to be called ‘pet’ or stared at and get driven mad," said Discord. "If you guys want to go with more crazy ponies, go ahead. I'll stay here. Last thing I need is break absolute chaos in there." "But wouldn't it be a little dangerous for you to stay here by yourself?" asked Fluttershy concerned. "Don't worry, my dear," Discord chuckled. "Nothing can scare me, believe me. Plus I have the power to bend reality, I'm more than sure I could handle myself." He snapped his fingers as a campsite appeared with a small fire and a tent. Everypony groaned and rolled their eyes except for Fluttershy. "Okay," said Fluttershy calmed down a little. "I just don't want you to get hurt." "Don't you worry your little head," said Discord. "You should be the one worried. Even I don't like the looks of this place." Twilight was more than happy to agree, not knowing if the Spirit of Chaos could control himself and not break havoc upon the village. Not to harm his feelings though she knew she couldn't, but Celestia telling her he would be helpful was nothing but bullshit. He hasn't done a single thing for them. Maybe Princess Celestia only told them to bring him along so he wouldn't try to turn Ponyville, make that Equestria into the chaos capital of the world. Uggh sometimes she wondered why Princess Celestia had even thought of reforming him. Has he ever used his magic for good? No. All he does is annoy her, get on her nerves, and put her life at times in danger. Sometimes she thought if she actually cared about friendship. She meant, it was pretty easy for him when he had betrayed them to Tirek. But then, she thought, sure at times he may get on her nerves and be a little, reckless. But, who was she to judge? She was the Princess of Friendship, and sometimes she felt like she wasn't when she thought of those nasty things about him. Sure he's still learning and makes mistakes, and so did she. He has Fluttershy to guide and help him at times, and she had Princess Celestia who had helped and guided her. He- really was just, doing things like she was. So they agreed and the Mane and Spike walked over to Mothia. *** Discord had been aimlessly wandering around his campsite, looking for any small creatures to play with. (And by 'play' he meant laugh at them while they ran and kept slipping on soap) He snickered at the thought. But then he realized something. Ever since entering the Outlands, not a single animal or insect or anything living besides the plant life (which was strange to how it could survive since barely any sunlight came in and it was a desert here) and those pesky Phoenix Pegasi. Discord growled at the thought of them, the a sneer made its way n his face. Maybe he should pay them a little visit, have some fun while he was at it. After all, who would stop him? You traitor!," a stallion had said. "You think you can fool us with your act? We all know sooner or later you will backstab us all again!" The hurtful words and insults echoed through Discord's head, as they slowly made way to his heart, slashing daggers at it. What was he thinking? It wasn't too long since his- Don't say it! Don't say it! He stopped himself before he said the word. And don't think about it either! But he couldn't help but let the memories rush in. So much pain and misery he had caused, and he still does, and still wants to! Sometimes even he felt as if he was confused, stuck in a maze not knowing which path to take. "What does it matter anyways, they'll always see me as a monster no matter which path I take," said Discord to himself, letting out a sigh He kept talking around, exploring the area, then his ears perked up at a branch snapping. Turning he followed the sound, as his talons filled with a yellow aura. "Who's there?!," asked Discord as he felt on walking where the sound was. "Um, D-,d-,discord is that you?," asked a soft voice. Discord stopped for a moment and cocked his eyebrows. "Fluttershy?" He followed the voice back to his campsite and looked at the butter coated pegasus sitting near the fire. "Oh uh, hey D-,discord," said Fluttershy as she turned to him. "Fluttershy?," asked Discord. "What are you doing here?" "I uh, just wanted to talk to you," said Fluttershy. "Oh are your precious friends bothering you my dear?," said Discord smiling. "Maybe the whole 'magic of friendship' crap from Sunbutt really is nothing but baloney." He snapped his talons as a piece of baloney with the word "friendship" on it appeared. Usually he would have expected a giggle from Fluttershy but instead he got a stern look. "How dare you insult my friends and our Princess like that?," asked Fluttershy with a stern tone. "Correction: she is your princess, not mine," said Discord. "I don't live under the democracy of no-fun Sunbutt." **** Unbeknownst to Discord Torrid had been creeping around, her flames nothing but a flicker as she carefully stood hidden behind the trees, inspecting the draconequus. Looks just 'ike her brozer thought Torrid. Crimzon eyez, bat wing, snake tail. Only zing mizzing iz hiz white hair on 'im but guezz it fell out. She slowly and carefully reached into her saddlebag and grabbed a small potion. It had a red liquid in it which she silently slid it behind Fluttershy's, or rather her little spell like Fluttershy, and grabbed her marionette cross, and pulled the strings to her little puppet. *** "Still that isn't an exuse for you to be selfish," said the fake Fluttershy. Discord groaned and rolled his eyes as Fluttershy lectured him once again. As if Twilight's lectures weren't enough. "Hey I uh, brought you something," said fake Fluttershy as she pulled out a small vase with red liquid inside it. "Is that punch?," asked Discord. "You know I'm not really a fan of juices, a bit to plain. But punch is good because it is a mixture of all sorts of fruits that don't even look alike combine into a single liquid. You know, sometime you ponies can be chaotic." "I got it from Mothia and decided to bring something for you and talk with you so you wouldn't be alone," said Fluttershy smiling. Discord took the vase and gulped it entirely, vase and all. "That was very kind of you my dear but oh,what can I expect from the Element of Kindness herself?" Fluttershy froze for a moment, a blank look filling her face. "I have to go," she said as she scurried off. Well that was weird thought Discord. Suddenly he felt a searing pain burn inside him, gasping out for air. He collapsed on the ground, clutching the grass as he gasped even more. He began to lose consciousness as a very VERY familiar Phoenix Pegasi appeared into view. "And he iz ztupid az well," said Torrid. Discord couldn't even talk back as more pain came in. All he could do was growl at her ad glared, before another sharp pain came in and he couldn't fight it off. He lost consciousness and Torrid sneered at this. Her smile grew wider as she realized just how skinny the draconequus was, seeing how light he must be. Grabbing a net she had brought with her she pulled Discord in and flew off, being slowed down a bit but not too much. **** "Okay let's see here, hmm I guess this is it," said a unicorn mare as she walked through the woods. Then she heard cackling fires and snickers from somewhere. "What in the name of Lucena?," said the mare as she followed the sound. Her eyes grew wide as she saw Torrid dragging behind- No. It, it couldn't be. The mare stepped back. How? How had he come back? Had he remembered? Had her spell worn off? And how long had it been since, then? Maybe she, her friend, wasn't talking crazy when she said he brother would stop his reign, using an army to do so. Was it really happening? If so then she had to find the others. She eyed a campsite and decided to go there and investigate. "Oh Akiko I hope ya weren't talking bullshit when ya said those words," said the mare as she teleported to the campsite. If she helped the draconequus, then Torrid would have beaten her with her army. But if the draconequus really was who she thought, then maybe, just maybe, Centaria would once again be itself. > Mothia > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Moria was certainly way better than Torrid's village.Mothia was certainly way better than Torrid's village. When they approached its gates, they were met by two bug-like stallions. They had armor on but had a brown coat on though it was soft and somewhat sticky. They wore metal armor and held spears. And they had wings of a moth. Like back at Torrid's village they had stopped them and inspected them carefully. Especially Twilight. "Hmm haven't seen alicorns for quite a long time," said the first guard. "State your business," said the second. "We're here to retrieve the—" started Twilight. But then she thought, should she share her details and quest with these guards? Or should she talk to the ruler of this village in private like last time? Then again Torrid had told them to stay away from anyone. But what choice did they have? Stay in the forest where the dangers were worse? Sure they had Discord, but then she remembered the chains Torrid's group had used to immobilize him. What if the same happened to them? Plus, these moth-looking ponies did look friendlier. She made up her mind. "We'd like to talk our business with your ruler," said Twilight. The guards exchanged glances but then nodded at each other and opened the gates to Mothia. The village had hives instead of houses appeared to be those, like hives, some were caramel colored, while others a bit darker and some had flowers or plant life growing on them. They watched the group for only a second as they flew, some stared at the group while others were too busy to mind the new visitors. The ponies soon approached a castle, it was caramel colored and had tall, thin holes for the windows. The gates were brown with golden nobs and the castle also held a balcony at the center of it. The castle had plant life growing on as well and guards surrounding the castle. They entered the main hall, which had high ceilings and muddy looking walls. Soon they approached the throne room where another half moth half pony approached them. She was taller than the rest, had a caramel coat, only it wasn't fur but more like an exoskeleton. She had a chocolate brown curled mane and slit purple eyes but only friendlier. Her moth wings were larger than the rest and had holes, some were circles while others were crescents. And based on her crimson golden crown, Twilight knew she must be their ruler. "Why, good evening, Equestrians," said the moth ruler. Apparently she had no cutie mark. "I am Queen Harmony, ruler of the moth ponies and Mothia." "Hello, my name is Twilight Sparkle," said the lavender alicorn. "These are my friends Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow, Rarity, and Spike." She pointed to each as she said their names. "Nice to meet you, Queen Harmony. And I'm sure you're pretty friendly by your name." "Oh you don't know how 'friendly' I am," sneered Queen Harmony. "And I don't suppose it's Princess Twilight Sparkle?" "Oh, uh, yes?" said Twilight. "Yeah, but you should always be addressed that way by your lower equines," said Queen Harmony glaring at the others. "Now what is it that you came for?" "Well I would really want to talk to you in private," said Twilight. "Oh sure," said Queen Harmony. "You wouldn't want these idiots to listen to our regal conversation. Guards, why don't you scamper off now will you all?" The guards then left the room. "Oh, you six as well," said Queen Harmony pointing to the others. "Hey, we're with Twilight!" said Rainbow. "Yeah, by private I meant—" started Twilight but Queen Harmony interrupted her. "I'm sorry, but this is a regal conversation not meant for smaller equines," said Queen Harmony. "Now scamper you servants, and let the rulers talk." Rainbow was getting tired of the moth pony's attitude and wanted to head back to the forest with Discord. But she wouldn't leave without a comeback. "Oh shut up you bug queen! I have to let you know we're-." Twilight put a hoof on Rainbow. "It's okay," she said. "Don't worry, it'll be over soon. Why don’t you guys get some rest, find a hotel, okay?" Rainbow looked at her. Then she whispered, "You’d better know what you're doing Twi. I don't trust these outlanders around you by yourself any more than them telling us the truth. She then left the throne room along with the others. "Finally those low lifers are gone," said Queen Harmony. "Now, what is this business you speak of?" Wow, for having a name like Harmony, you really are spoiled, thought Twilight. "Well our homeland is dying and me and my friends have been asked to retrieve the Reviving Seed." She didn't mention Discord, because as far as she knew, this queen was too spoiled and would probably use him for herself. Or worse. "What do you mean asked?" asked Queen Harmony, looking perplexed. "Aren't you a princess? You shouldn't be doing things your little servants should." Servants? How dare you call my friends servants?! thought Twilight angrily. Now she really wished Discord was here so he could take her mouth off. "Well, I wanted to because I enjoy a little adventure." Twilight faked a smile. "Listen, we just want to rest here and we'll be gone first thing tomorrow." Queen Harmony turned to her. Oh she'll make perfect bait, thought Queen Harmony. "Oh sure, why don't you just take a room here?" "Actually, I want to be with my friends," said Twilight. No way will I stay with you, she thought. Queen Harmony gritted her teeth at this. But did it to herself so no one saw. "Well then," she chuckled. "Go ahead, be with your low-life servants. Hope everything comes at hoof" "Thanks," said Twilight. She then left gladly thinking, glad she's out of my way. Calls herself Queen Harmony huh? I think Queen Spoiled would've been best. She then left the castle. From her window sill, Queen Harmony chuckled. "With that mediocre little princess I can finally leave this place. Guards! Prepare the chains! I have a little date with a little alicorn." > How to Break a Lord's Pride > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 7 A small draconequus child ran through the halls of a beautiful castle. It was on the high mountains gazing upon the land below. The castle was green and the windows reflected the beautiful sun that shone below. Draconequus guards and Phoenix Pegasi guarded the castle in armor and armed. Now the draconequus child ran through the halls as an elder draconequus, a female, chased him. "Get back here you little runt!," she said. "I don't wanna take a bath! I like bein in cotton candy!," said the small draconequus child as he ran from the elder draconequus. She rolled her eyes and teleported, catching the small draconequus. "Have you forgotten about how I can teleport," she said. "Also if you're sticky, how will I be able to cuddle you?" It took a lot to resist the puppy eyes the small child gave, but he sighed and said, "fine." The elder draconequus smiles as she hugged and nuzzled his tiny body. "That's my little cotton candy," she says. Discord rubbed his head as he awoke. Another memory he thought. He was confused again as too what the recurring vision he had. Was it even a memory? The castle was new but, the female draconequus was there again. What was so important about her? Who wastt feel like answering these questions right now. Looking around he couldn't help but notice that, he was standing on cool ground instead of the dirt of a forest. As well as the trees and plants were, gone. Something definitely was wrong. He tried teleporting but, he snapped his fingers yet nothing happened. Thankfully, his night vision then turned on. He saw that there were, walls, steel walls. He looked around and knew something was definitely wrong. As he moved forward for he didn't hear a noise he heard a sound. Looking behind him answered his question of his current lack of magic. Around his neck, locked, were the what that Torrid called dracunaquus chains. He tried pulling at them but it was no use. His ears perked up to, voices. He listened closely to this conversation. "Marvelous work," said a male voice. "I am sure surprised by what you have brought to me." "Ya have ye dracunaquus," said a familiar voice, Torrid. "Give me me reward." "Yes yes," said the male voice. "Of course Torrid. Now was he a trouble to find? I remembered having killed all of those other dracunaquuses." "Not at all mate," said Torrid. "Critter there came along with some of th' Equestrians along. Brought ye princess I saw." "Was this princess," started the male voice. "In any case, had a white coat, flowing mane, tall, elder looking?" "Nope some lavender n' flowing mane," said Torrid. "Heard her and her swanees got looking for ye Reviving Seed." "Hmm, was she lavender in this case," said the male voice. "Eyup," said Torrid. "Now, ze reward, King Adder." "Oh, of course," said King Adder. Discord heard bits clicking. "Thanks for the dracunaquus." "Eh, never like the fellas anyway," said Torrid. Discord heard hoofsteps fading away. So she brought me in for blasted money! she brought me in for blasted money! thought Discord. I knew she couldn't be trusted. Should've wiped her memory when had the chance. Or better yet, sent her to another dimension. His thoughts, however, were paused when he heard hoofsteps nearing. Soon the room lighted up with white lights as someone entered. Discord glanced at the pony, if it even was one. This, halfling, was tall. He had a dark green coat with darker green wings that were as big as a griffon's. At the end of each feather, was a sharp, curved, long, spike. He had two small fangs and orange slit eyes. His mane was short and spiked and orange colored. And his tail was the oddest of all. Instead of a tail made of hair were, two snakes. They were sleeping now but both were a vivid green and extremely poisonous. He also had a unicorn horn. "Hello there, dracunaquus," said King Adder. "I see not all of your kind has been extinct. You must come from Equestria am I right?" Discord just snorted at him. He was not gonna get a word out of him. Last thing he wanted was these Outlanders in Equestria. It had enough problems already. "What's wrong," said King Adder. "Don't you know how to talk?" Discord once again just glared. "Oh wait a minute," said King Adder. "You can talk but don't want to. Stubborn." "You can't and won't make me tell you anything," growled Discord. "Oh that's where you're wrong little dracunaquus," said King Adder. "I know you have some little friends of yours you know?" "Don't you dare hurt them!," yelled Discord. He didn't want this pesky king to hurt his friends or try to scare him as well. "Oh why would I?," asked King Adder, smirking. "Now, I see that you are, well last of your kind. Why don't you tell me things about you and your, homeland." Discord glared at him. "I won't tell you anything! So scamper, you ain't getting a word out of me! So you better run of before things get worse you bug." King Adder looked angrily at Discord. "Oh and what are you gonna do about it?," he asked. "Without your magic you're worthless." "I've been without magic before ugly," said Discord. Though it was true last time he didn't quite escape on his own plus, he didn't have chains holding him back but a bubble. But back then his magic was drained from him, making him weak. Now he had his magic only it was being blocked, so he still had his strengths. "Oh but I'm sure back to those other times you weren't restrained," said King Adder, sneering. "So be a good boy and tell me of your homeland, the residence there, about you and your friends." Discord just clawed King Adder's chest. He asked for it. He didn't have his magic but he did have his strengths. "There's more where that came from weakling," hissed Discord. King Adder's anger came to its point. "Oh you just ended my patience dracunaquus." "Oh boo-hoo so sorry," mocked Discord. King Adder's horn then lighted up, a light covered the chains but before Discord could question sent an immobilizing shock. Now normally, these things wouldn't affect him. But he felt the pain, it was deep. Soon he was blasted to a wall. He felt the pain and it hurt so much it made him wince. "Now are you going to talk," said King Adder sternly. "Go. To. Hell," said Discord. King Adder once again shot him to a wall, this time harder. "Now?," asked King Adder, glaring. "Over my dead body," said Discord. King Adder blasted him harder to a wall. This time Discord could barely get up. King Adder glared at him. "Perhaps tomorrow you'll talk," he said. Then the lights went off and he disappeared. Discord flopped to the floor. He didn't understand, why did it hurt so much? He felt scared, but at the same time worried. If this king could do this much damage to him, imagine what he'll do to his friends. He wouldn't talk, even if it killed him he wouldn't hand his friends over to that beast. Tears began to dwell, and he buried his face into his paw and claw. He could see the scars and wounds on his body that were made from the blast. He hoped Twilight and her friends were safe. He hoped that they realized his absent. He hoped that King Adder didn't get to them. With tears running down and face buried into his paw and claw, he tried to sleep. This one is a strong one King Adder as he walked to his chambers. I felt his powers, his loyalty to his so called friends. He could be useful but he is too loyal. If he doesn't agree to be by my side in time, well then a spell i'll have to use.
