> Spike's Actual Date > by Silver Topaz > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > The first chapter > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The town of Ponyville was a quite town. Well most of the time. When creatures from the Everfree forest weren't attacking. The town was filled with ponies going about their business. Some went into stores, others to work and some just played around. In Ponyville a castle lays, this castle belonging to the Princess of Friendship Twilight Sparkle. In the library of the castle there were two ponies. They were practicing magic and reading books. There was also a dragon that was bored out of his mind. Spike sat in a chair. He already finished reading his comic book, so he didn't have anything to do. He looked in the direction were the ponies were. One of them being Twilight his employer/friend/sister, the other being a unicorn by the name of Starlight Glimmer. Spike looked at her with loving eyes, seeing that it was not long ago that they started a relationship. It was a weird night for Spike, but now he finally had someone to love and someone that loved him right back. Starlight was casting a spell. The spell if done right would allow her to send letters to any body she wanted, no matter were she was. Spike looked at them working hard and chuckled a bit, seeing as he could do what they were trying to do with magic, with only his breath. A voice woke him from his silent fit of laughter. "Twilight I don't think I can do it" Starlight was trying to use the spell, but she couldn't do it. She looked down at the ground, a disappointed look on her face, "if I can't do it now when we are so close to each other, how am I going to do it when we're far apart from each other". Twilight put a hoof on her students shoulder, "Starlight I know you can do it, you just need to practice that's all". Starlight looked at her mentor/friend and she decided to try again. Spike seeing this decided to offer words of encouragement, "Starlight I know you can do it I believe in you". Both Starlight and Twilight looked in the direction of Spike. Starlight smiling happily and Twilight looking a bit angry, as she wanted Starlight to concentrate. "Okay here goes nothing". Starlight began charging her magic, she concentrated and thought of were she she wanted to send the paper. Once she had an image in mind she released her magic and everything was engulfed by a bright light. Starlight had a headache from using that much magic, Spike was covering his eyes as was Twilight. When they all looked back at the table were the paper was supposed to be, it was gone. "I did it" Starlight shouted happily. "I knew you could do it Starlight". Twilight walked to her friend, giving her a hug. Spike only looked around to see were the paper was. He felt something underneath him and reached for it. It was the paper Starlight managed to send. Spike looked at it and smiled seeing that the paper said I love you. "Well that should be enough for today" Twilight said. "Finally it's about time". Spike said sounding really bored. He looked at his marefriend and Sister, and he gave them a cheeky grin. Starlight walked over to Spike. "You know if you are so bored, why not leave the castle?" "What's the point all of our friends are busy". Starlight thought about it and he was right. Rainbow Dash was in Wonderbolt practice. Rarity was in Manehattan checking on her store. Fluttershy agreed to go with her and help her. Pinkie Pie was planning a birthday party in the city as well. And Applejack was busy in her farm as she usually was. "So even if I left what was I going to do" Spike finished his sentence. Starlight looked at him and smiled, "well don't worry I'm done so we now". Starlight got near Spike's ear and whispered in a seductive voice "we can do something together". Spike looked at her, it took all of his strength not to burst into laughter. Starlight looked at him with an annoyed look "what?". "it's nothing is just, when you try to be sexy, you come out being more cute and adorable than anything else". Starlight was now blushing, feeling a little embarrassed that she even tried doing something like that. She was so new to this whole dating thing. Spike reached for the paper and showed it to her. Starlight blushed even more and Spike smiled "I love you too". Starlight smiled and looked at Spike, she then gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. Spike got up and gave her a kiss not on the cheek, but on the mouth. It wasn't quick, but it wasn't long. "You two know I'm here right". Twilight interrupted the kissing. Starlight and Spike looked at each other and laughed. "Well anyway I will be busy with some new books Princess Celestia sent me, so don't bother me okay". "Okay" Spike and Starlight said at the same time. Twilight left the room, leaving Spike and Starlight alone. Starlight gave Spike another kiss on the cheek and left the room. Spike looked at her leaving and decided to follow. Spike caught up to Starlight, who was heading to her room. "Hey Starlight wanna do something?" Starlight looked back at Spike. She had a sad look on her face, "I'm sorry Spike but Twilight gave me these books that she told me to read". Spike stopped walking and Starlight did the same. "Spike I would love to spend time with you really I would but I can't". Spike looked at Starlight a little sad that he couldn't spend more time with her. Since they got together three weeks ago after that practice date, they rarely spent time together. When they did they barely had anything to do. Aside from talking and kissing, something Spike loved to do. "Spike I'm sure you can find something to do in Ponyville". Spike looked at her and smile, "don't worry about it, I'm sure there's something I can do". Spike scratched the back of his head. He had no idea what he was going to do. Spike stopped thinking when he felt Starlight nuzzle him. He loved it when she did that, she was so soft and warm. The nuzzle stopped and it then became a hug, which then became a kiss. Starlight looked into Spike's emerald green eyes. "When I'm done I'll use the spell I just learned, and I'll send you a message okay". Spike nodded "we can do something together then okay" Spike again nodded. "Okay Spike I'll see you later" Starlight gave Spike one last hug and one last kiss and left. Spike watched her go, it was crazy to think that not to long ago he was madly in love with Rarity. He smiled his dream of finally having someone to love becoming true, he was so happy. Spike walked towards the doors that lead to the outside of the castle. He passed the throne room and he smiled. He remembered the day he met Starlight, she was just sitting in Fluttershy's throne and then she talked and after that she opened a portal that brought them to the past. It was a crazy day and there were parts Spike didn't want to remember, but that day led to Starlight becoming friends with the group, specially Spike and with that it led them to now. Spike opened the doors an he took a long look at Ponyville. It was a sunny day, barely any clouds in the sky. Ponies went by, some waving at Spike as they went. There were birds singing and flying around, and the occasional breeze could be felt. In other words the perfect day to be outside. Spike thought about what he was going to do, he didn't really think of anyone that he could talk to. He looked around and he decided to just go see what some of his other friends were up to. "Okay Ponyville here I come" Spike spread his dragon wings and took off, hoping he could find something to do. > Asking her out > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spike sat on a cloud, looking bored. He went all around town and asked everypony he knew, and he still didn't have anything to do. Spike sighed and laid down on the cloud, looking over the town. He thought about his options, "I can wait for Starlight to finish, or I could go somewhere else" Spike thought to himself. He went through his options and realized there was nothing to do but wait. He could fly to Canterlot or the Crystal Empire, but he didn't really feel like it. Spike sighed one more time and decided to sleep to pass the time. "Hey Spike", Spike was interrupted by a voice. He looked around until his eyes fell onto a familiar face. "Silver Breeze". Spike said in almost a whisper. Said pegasus sat down next to Spike on the cloud. "So what are you doing?". "Nothing really, I mean there's nothing to do". Spike said not even looking at him. "I know what you mean". Spike turned to look at him. "Don't you have to work?". "Today is my day off Spike". Silver Breeze laid down on the cloud, looking like he was about to sleep. "Today is my lazy day Spike" he said with a yawn. "I know what you mean, lately Twilight hasn't been needing my help". Spike sighed sadly "I think she's starting to move on". "Well she has to Spike". Spike turned to look at Silver, with a confused look on his face. "Twilight knows your dating Starlight right" Spike nodded, "well she knows one day you'll move on, so she needs to try and do more things by herself". "That's stupid Twilight knows I'll never abandon her". Spike said a little anger present on his voice. "Maybe she doesn't want to make you choose". Silver whispered so low, not even Spike could hear it. "What did you say?" "Nothing Spike". Silver scratched the back of his head looking really nervous. "Look maybe Twilight just wants you to do your own thing, have freedom to do all the things you have ever wanted to do". Spike looked at him with a skeptical look, Spike was smart enough to know when someone was lying and this was one of those moments. "You know what I'm going to get some rest okay" whit that Silver closed his eyes, hoping Spike would just follow along. Spike was still curious about what he said but he wanted to get some rest, so he decided to ask him later. Spike moved around, as he slowly opened his eyes. He saw that the sun was starting to set. He wondered how long had he been asleep, but he stopped when he saw a letter in front of him. He grabbed it hoping that it would say that Starlight was finished. Sure enough it said exactly that, he stretched and got ready to go back home when a voice stopped him. "Someone's excited", Spike turned around and saw that Silver was still here. "Well I'm going home, Starlight is finally done whit the books she was reading so we can be together now". Silver raised an eyebrow. "And". Silver said. "And what?" Spike asked confused. "What are you going to do?" "I don't know". Silver gasped. "Spike don't you have a plan?" Silver asked, sounding concerned. "A plan for what?" "For a date". Realisation finally hit Spike, as he scratched the back of his head. "So I take that as a no" Spike confirmed his suspicion. Silver shook his head, after his friend finally moved on from Rarity, and started dating Starlight he had done nothing. Silver made a decision he was going to help Spike create the perfect date, but he needed to know what they did on their regular dates. "So Spike what do you do on your regular dates with Starlight?" Spike scratched the back of his head and he gave a cheeky grin. "Well besides the practice date, Starlight and me we haven't been on a date". Silver's mouth hung opened, after being with her for awhile now they haven't been in a single date. "What do they do then" Silver thought to himself. "Spike how come you haven't been on a date yet". Spike shrugged and Silver just started pacing back and forth. Spike looked at him with a very confused look. "What's the big deal?" Silver ran to Spike and he grabbed his face. "What's the big deal Spike" Silver practically screamed, "Spike a date it's when you get to know her for real, you know talk, spend some time together alone". Spike still didn't know why Silver was acting that way, they already spent time together and talked so what was the difference. "Okay Spike I have a plan for the perfect date", Spike was about to protest but he realized spending some time with Starlight outside the castle would actually be pretty good. Spike sighed "okay what's the plan?" "Canterlot of course". Silver said while pointing at the city in the mountain. "But Rarity told me that most Canterlot restaurants are terrible". "Well yeah, but only some of them. I have a friend that owns one of the best restaurants in Canterlot. I'll talk to him and get you a reservation, the atmosphere and the food are great, you two are going to love it". Spike thought about it and he decided why not. Silver knew about good food, so any restaurant he recommended was worth checking out. "But what to do after". "What do you mean?". "This date has to be perfect, taking her to a restaurant that's a good start, but we have to think what to do after". Silver and Spike started thinking, after a little bit Spike got an idea. "How about i take her to the Canterlot garden". Silver was confused, "a walk under the moonlight, a perfect spot to see the stars, and the scenery is just beautiful what do you think". Silver thought about it and the more he did, he realized it was the perfect plan. "Spike do you have permission to be there?" "I'll send a letter to Celestia telling her about it, I'm sure she won't mind it". Silver smiled, "okay so we have a plan you go ask Starlight on a date and send that letter to Celestia and I'll fly to Canterlot to speak with my friend". Silver opened his wings to start flying but Spike stopped him. "Wait I can just use my fire breath to send a letter to your friend in Canterlot". "I know Spike, is just this way I'll have something to do". With that Silver took off, and Spike did the same. Spike made it to the castle. He ran inside and he went directly to Starlight's room. He knocked it , told her it was him and when she said come in he went in. Starlight was laying down on her bed, she looked at Spike and smiled, "so did you find something to do while I was busy". "You can say that". Spike walked to the bed and sat down. He looked at her and smiled, while giving her a hug. "Hey Starlight do you want to go on a date with me?" Starlight looked up at Spike. "You want to go now?" Spike looked at her, "yeah I mean we haven't been on our first date yet so, I have it all planned out". Starlight looked like she was in deep thought. Have they really not been on a date, well there was the practice date and that was it. Starlight couldn't believe it but she knew what she had to do, "okay Spike let's go on a date". Spike got up looking really happy. "Okay I'll go get ready, I have a letter I need to send and the we'll go okay". Starlight nodded getting up as well. Spike gave her a quick kiss on the cheek and started running to his room. Spike made it to his room and started writing the letter to Celestia. He finished it sent it and almost immediately he got an answer. Celestia told him it was fine, as long as they didn't caused any trouble. Spike started dressing up in his special made suit, when he finally realized something. Silver never told him were to go. In that moment, almost as if someone heard him say that a letter appeared in Spike's room. It was from Silver, "hey Spike I got you the reservation, just look for the restaurant called Equestrian Garden okay, just tell the guy at the door your name okay. Although he will probably know it's you since I told him your a dragon. Never mind I'll be there just in case, good luck my friend". Wow, so everything was going according to plan great. "So it's time, my first date okay Spike you can do it". Spike went back to finishing up. When he heard a knock on the door, "who is it?" "It's me" The voice of Twilight made its way through the door. "Come in". Twilight opened the door. "Hi Spike are you going somewhere". "Yeah I'm taking Starlight out on a date". Twilight looked to the ground and only said one word "oh". Spike noticed it. "Twilight is something wrong?" Twilight looked around nervous for a bit, "no nothing is wrong I was just curious, anyway good luck on your date okay bye". With that Twilight left closing the door behind her. Okay first Silver now Twilight, what's going on. Spike thought for a moment about having a talk with Twilight, but he decided against it. He knew Twilight and he knew there was something bothering her, but he knew that trying to make her say it wasn't going to work. She will talk to him when she's ready, but Spike made a mental note to keep a close eye on her. After what happened with that doll, he was very cautious about waiting for Twilight to talk. So he needed to pay attention. Spike finished getting ready. He put his suit on and waited at the door for Starlight. When she finally showed up Spike was amazed. She had no makeup but she still looked beautiful, and she was wearing a red dress with a floral design. Spike shook his head a bit and smiled, "are you ready to go". Starlight nodded, Spike opened the door for her and they went out. Spike could only hope that things went well. > The date > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spike and Starlight sat in the restaurant, laughing as Spike just finished a story about Twilight. The train ride was not all that interesting. The restaurant itself looked like Rarity had described it. After Rarity and Pinkie Pie's visit, many restaurants changed the way they looked, but this one stayed the same. Spike already finished his food, while Starlight was just finishing. Starlight finished laughing and asked "did Twilight really made an entire town fight over a doll?". Spike himself just nodded, while holding back his own laughter. Spike wasn't there when it happened, but he heard stories about it. Which made him wish he had been there. Starlight looked back at Spike "what happened to the doll?" "I heard Big Mac has it". Spike said. Starlight herself was trying to figure out why Big Mac would take a doll. She looked back at Spike, while smiling. Spike was looking out the window wondering something. Starlight was about to ask, if he was alright, before Spike said it, "I wonder what life would be like if Twilight had never hatched me". "What?" Was the only thing Starlight could say. "You know if I was born out there, with dragons instead of ponies". "Well, I guess you would be like other dragons". Spike looked out the window again. Starlight herself was starting to get worried. "Spike is there something wrong". Spike looked back, giving Starlight a happy smile. "Nothings is wrong, is just I have a great life and is all thanks to Twilight". Spike looked to the window, watching the Canterlot ponies walk by. Starlight joined him, before Spike started talking again, "I always wondered what if Twilight had never hatched me, what if I was living with dragons, or what if another pony had hatched me instead of Twilight". Spike looked to the sealing now "would she loved me just like Twilight". Starlight gave him a confused look, Spike noticed it and decided to make it clear, "Starlight let's just say not everypony was happy with a dragon living amongst them, many of the nobles thought I was going to bring the end to Equestria, and some ponies just saw me as a ticking time bomb, ready to go off at any second". Spike gained a sad look, he remembered those days. Starlight looked at him. "Spike aren't you happy now, that you proved them wrong". Spike looked at her, a confused look adorning his face. "Spike you saved the Crystal Empire twice, and that's to you dragons and ponies are one step closer to becoming friends". Spike started smiling a little bit. "Spike you are the kindest and most generous dragon anypony has ever met, and you helped so many ponies along the way, Twilight, Rarity, everyone in the Crystal Empire, Thorax and me". The last one caused Starlight to smile happily. Spike just looked at her and smiled. "I guess your right, and it's all thanks to Twilight Sparkle". Starlight nodded agreeing. Twilight hatched Spike, raised him and taught him everything he knows. Spike grabbed his glass of cider, the none alcoholic type and raised it, "too Twilight". "Too Twilight". Silver looked on and smiled, Spike was doing great. He smiled until a voice came from behind him "Silver". He turned around to look at the owner of said voice, it was none other than Thunderstorm, Silver's oldest friend. "Remind me why am I doing this again" Thunderstorm said sounding very annoyed. "For Spike Thunderstorm". Thunderstorm sighed "you could have at least ask me first, Spike's my friend and I would have probably said yes, but still". Thunderstorm was referring to the fact, that Silver told his sister that he would take her out on a date, if she could get their friend to agree to give a reservation, when they were already booked. They both turned around to look at Silver's sister. Amethyst Breeze, she looked very different to her older brother, for one she was a unicorn, instead of a pegasus, she also had an light amethyst almost pink color coat, with her mane and tail being purple, she also had ruby red eyes and a star with three spotlights shining down on the star as a Cutiemark. Her mane and tail just fell, it reminded Thunderstorm of Fluttershy every time he looked at it just not as long. She was sitting at a table, looking really happy. "Sorry Thunderstorm sacrifices had to be made" . Thunderstorm gave him an angry glare, "c'mon Thunderstorm my sister really likes you, for some unexplained reason". Thunderstorm just gave an angry sigh, he knew he wasn't going to win, so he just left to sit back down. Silver just went to look for something. A little time had passed, Spike and Starlight ordered their dessert, and Thunderstorm just kept on listening to Amethyst stories about her time in magic school. Thunderstorm just kept listening, it was pretty interesting. Thunderstorm was a Pegasus so he couldn't use magic, but he loved learning new things so he just listened. He spotted Silver who was walking straight towards Spike's table. Amethyst noticed and looked "what is he doing" she said. Thunderstorm kept on looking, until his eyes focused on a specific detail he was carrying flowers. Now this wouldn't be so bad, if said flowers were anything other than what he was carrying. Amethyst noticed the flowers, "that idiot he's going to ruin everything". Both Thunderstorm and Amethyst got up to try an stop him. Spike finally noticed Silver Breeze, who just so happened to put the flowers on the table. Starlight noticed what type of flowers the were and immediately panicked. Spike could already feel the effects of said flowers. Spike eyes started feeling itchy and watery and he looked like he was about to sneeze. Starlight use her magic tu make a shield, as Spike let out the biggest sneeze ever. Spike sneezed and when he did fire came out, which made a nearby table catch on fire. Silver along with Thunderstorm and Amethyst raced to p out the fire, while Starlight took the flowers away from Spike. After the fire was put out, Spike got kicked out of the restaurant. While he sat outside Silver along with Thunderstorm and Amethyst came with him, just to make sure he was okay. Amethyst was the first to speak "Silver you idiot, those were dragon sneeze flowers". "Well I didn't know". Amethyst was about to continue her angry rant, but was stopped by Spike. "It's okay". The effects the flowers had on Spike wore off, and he was now being comforted by Starlight. Silver turned to look at them "I'm really sorry I ruined your date". Spike got up and stretched his wings. He turned to Silver and smiled, "don't worry there is still the second part of the date". Starlight looked at him confused, "second part?" "It's a surprise" was the only thing he said. Silver smiled "I know I'll get you your desserts over there and a drink, on me guys". Silver turned to his sister and Thunderstorm "will you guys help out". Thunderstorm looked at Amethyst and they smiled, agreeing to help out. "Well we should go, if we want to get to the second part". He said looking at the sky and noticing that it was night time. "Starlight close your eyes", Starlight closed her eyes. Spike grabbed her and put her on his back, Starlight wrapped her hooves around his neck to hang on. Spike waved to his friends and flew off, in the direction of the castle. Spike landed, and allowed Starlight to get off. "Can I open my eyes now". "Sure go ahead". Starlight opened her eyes. She was amazed by what she saw. There were different types of flowers, a platform surrounded by water, with little bridges made to go to it, a stream going around said platform and at the end a bench with a telescope in front of it. "Spike were are we". Spike smiled looking at how amazed she was. "This is a special part of the Castle gardens, only Celestia and Luna are allowed here". Starlight looked at him "don't worry I asked for permission". With that Spike led Starlight towards the telescope. They got there and looked over the ledge, the whole city of Canterlot could be seen, and to the distance Ponyville. Spike let his eyes fall on the castle, it looked beautiful with the moonlight shining on it. Starlight kept staring, while Spike made his way to the telescope. He looked through it, but instead of staring at the stars, he looked towards Ponyville and the Castle of Friendship. It was amazing how good this telescope was, you could se the castle perfectly. He looked at the balcony of the Castle in Ponyville and saw something that made him worry. Twilight was in the balcony but she looked sad, "what's wrong Twilight". Starlight barely heard Spike, "is there something wrong Spike". Spike was about to tell her, but he didn't want Starlight to worry, half of the date got cut short, he didn't want the second half to be the same. "Nothing is wrong". Starlight knew he was lying, but she also knew that if it was something important, Spike would tell her. "Let's sit down", Spike pointed at a spot underneath a three. He sat down, with Starlight down the same. "You know this hasn't been going how I expected but I had fun". "I did too". Starlight said, while giving Spike a nuzzle. They sat down and didn't say anything, deciding to just enjoy each other's company. It was quite until a voice broke the silence. "I love you Starlight". Starlight looked up at Spike and smiled. She gave him a very passionate kiss, and when she broke it she spoke. "I love you too Spike". They sat again saying nothing. Spike's mind eventually wandering to the scene he say earlier. He thought to himself what could possibly be wrong. He eventually decided to stop thinking about it, and deal with it when he goes back to Ponyville. Eventually Silver Breeze brought them their desserts and the drink he said he was going to bring. Spike wrapped his arm around Starlight pulling her into a hug. Starlight gave Spike a kiss on the cheek and laid her head on his shoulder. Spike thought to himself, "not bad for a first date". Spike laid his head on top of Starlight's head. After finishing their desserts and drink, they decided to lay on their backs, and look at the stars. Which eventually cause them to fall asleep. > The Date > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spike and Starlight sat in the restaurant, laughing as Spike just finished a story about Twilight. "This is a special part of the Castle gardens, only Celestia and Luna are allowed here,” Starlight looked at him worried. "Don't worry I asked for permission." With that Spike led Starlight towards the telescope. They got there and looked over the ledge, the whole city of Canterlot could be seen, and to the distance Ponyville. Spike let his eyes fall on the castle, it looked beautiful with the moonlight shining on it. Starlight kept staring, while Spike made his way to the telescope. He looked through it, but instead of staring at the stars, he looked towards Ponyville, and the Castle of Friendship. It was amazing how good this telescope was, you could see the castle perfectly. He looked at the balcony of the Castle in Ponyville and saw something that made him worry. Twilight was in the balcony, but she looked sad, "What's wrong Twilight?" Starlight barely heard Spike, "Is there something wrong Spike?" Spike was about to tell her, but he didn't want Starlight to worry, half of the date got cut short, he didn't want the second half to be the same. "Nothing is wrong," Starlight knew he was lying but she also knew that if it was something important, Spike would tell her. "Let's sit down," Spike pointed at a spot underneath a three. He sat down, with Starlight down the same. "You know this hasn't been going how I expected but I had fun." "I did too," Starlight said, while giving Spike a nuzzle. They sat down and didn't say anything, deciding to just enjoy each other's company. It was quiet until a voice broke the silence. "I love you Starlight." Starlight looked up at Spike and smiled. She gave him a very passionate kiss, and when she broke it she spoke. "I love you too Spike," They sat again saying nothing. Spike thought to himself, "Not bad for a first date." Spike laid his head on top of Starlight's head. After finishing their desserts and drink, they decided to lay on their backs, and look at the stars. Which eventually cause them to fall asleep. > The last chapter > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spike opened his eyes, as he let out a big yawn. He looked around and realized he was still in Canterlot. He looked around some more but, there was no one else there with him. That is, until he looked down and saw Starlight sleeping next to him. Spike smiled and looked around again, there was no sound and the moon was even higher now. "Guess we must have fallen asleep while looking at the stars," he whispered. Spike grabbed Starlight and placed her on his back. Carefully so that she didn't wake up. Spike spread his wings, and started flying towards Ponyville. Spike carefully landed on the ground when they reached Ponyville. He stood in front of Twilight's castle and he walked inside. He looked around to see if he could spot Twilight, but she wasn't around. Spike gave a sigh and he started walking towards Starlight's room. Spike got to the room and opened the door. He walked inside and placed Starlight on the bed, slowly as he didn't want to wake her up. He then turned around and headed for the door. He was at the door and about to step outside, when a tired sounding voice stopped him. "Spike where are you going?" Spike turned around, seeing Starlight sitting up on her bed. Spike looked at her and he gave a small smile before he answered, "I'm going to check on Twilight, you know how she can be when she starts reading a book she likes. I want to make sure she gets some sleep okay." Starlight laid back down asking, "Are you sleeping with me tonight?" "Do you want me to sleep with you tonight?" Spike asked, with a big goofy smile planted on his face. Starlight blushed. Knowing what was going through Spike's head at the moment. "Not in that way Spike." Spike laughed, "You know I'm messing with you Starlight." Starlight glared at Spike with a frown. "Why don't you go and check on Twilight," Starlight said, while removing her dress. Spike finally finished laughing and and turned to leave the room saying, "Okay Starlight, I'll be right back." Spike said, exiting the room. Spike looked for Twilight, he looked around the balcony where he saw her earlier, but she wasn't there. After he went to the library, but she wasn't there. He finally went to her room and found her. Spike looked at Twilight who was asleep at her desk with a book on her face. Spike chuckled and shook Twilight until she woke up. "Hey, Twilight." "Hi there Spike," Twilight said, in a very tired voice. Spike looked at her with a sad look. "Twilight how about we get you in bed." Twilight raised her hooves, "Carry me?" Spike smiled and grabbed Twilight and carried her to bed. He then looked at her and sighed. Twilight knowing Spike long enough asked, "Spike is everything okay?" Twilight asked as he sat  beside her on the bed. "Is something going on between you and Starlight? Are you fighting? Are you...." Spike put a claw gently on Twilight's mouth to get her to stop talking. "Twilight, I saw you earlier from the telescope in the garden. You were in the balcony and you looked really sad," Twilight knew what he was talking about, but she didn't want to say anything. Spike looked her in the eyes and asked, "Twilight what's wrong?" Twilight didn't want to say it, she didn't want to ruin everything. "Spike, nothing is wrong." "You're lying Twilight, please tell me what's wrong,” Spike pleaded.  “I want to help you," Spike said, in a very upset voice. Twilight didn't look at him. "Spike, I can't tell you what's wrong, I just can't," Twilight said, her eyes started filling up with tears. Spike however just kept looking. Spike had known Twilight for a long time. He knew she was lying, and that something was bothering her. Spike sighed and looked at the floor for a bit. After that his attention returned to his friend. "Twilight I want you to look me in the eyes and tell me that nothing is wrong." Twilight looked at Spike's emerald green eyes and repeated her words. "Spike trust me there is nothing wrong." Spike sighed. He knew she was lying, she probably knew that he knew she was lying, but he didn't say anything. Spike had learned over the years, that if something was bothering Twilight that he should try and figure out what it was. But he also knew that if it was something serious that Twilight would have said something. Spike gave Twilight a hug, which caught her by surprise. After getting over the surprised she returned the hug. "Okay, Twilight I'll believe you, but I want you to know that if something is bothering you I'll be here to listen." "I know Spike." Spike broke the hug. He looked at Twilight and he then walked towards the door, he reached the door and he turned around, "Good night, Twilight." Twilight looked at him and smiled, "Good night, Spike," Spike was about to head out, but he stopped when he heard Twilight. "Spike I love you." "I love you to Twilight, I'll see you in the morning." With that Spike left, other ponies would question what Twilight just said but Spike thought nothing of it. He heard Twilight say it before, when they were little, so he was used to hearing it. Spike walked through the empty castle. He thought back to what he saw, and what Twilight said. "Spike just leave it it's not important. If it was Twilight would have told you," Spike said to himself. He was still worried about Twilight, but he knew he wouldn't get anything out of her. Spike turned a few corners, until he found Starlight's room again. Should he tell her about Twilight or not. Spike stood there thinking for a minute, in the end he decided not to tell Starlight anything. Spike went in the room and saw that Starlight was waiting for him. "So is Twilight okay?" "Yeah she fell asleep while reading, I put her on her bed and she is sleeping right now." Starlight looked at Spike a smile present on her face. "Okay then, how about you get over here so we can get to sleep," Starlight said, laying on her side, her voice sounding very seductive. Spike smiled, "You know, you should really stop trying to be sexy." "You know you like it." "Yeah, but that's because you look so adorable." Starlight rolled her eyes, as Spike climbed on the bed. Spike turned to look at her and she did the same. They looked into each other's eyes, after a bit they kissed and after that they kissed some more. After they were done Starlight snuggled up to Spike. Spike hugged her and brought her close to his chest, "Good night, Spike." "Good night Starlight," Spike kissed her one more time, as she closed her eyes. Starlight was now sleeping while Spike was still thinking of Twilight. Trying to figure out what was wrong, he looked around for a bit and thought. He sighed he knew he wasn't going to figure it out, so he would just have to wait for Twilight to say it. Spike finally giving up, closed his eyes and finally got to sleep. Twilight sat on her bed. Spike knew there was something going on, but she knew she couldn't say anything. She didn't want to ruin everything. She sighed why did it turned out this way, she should have taken Spike's invitation, but she refused. She regretted that decision, once she found out what happened. She knew the best thing to do was, to be happy for Spike. He was looking for love for a long time and now he finally found it. Twilight got up and walked towards the window in her room. Seeing the moon and the stars outside, she only hoped Spike would forget about it. She walked back to her bed and laid on top of it. She closed her eyes only saying one thing before falling asleep. "I love you Spike." With that the castle went quite. As the ponies and one dragon fell asleep. Waiting to see what would happen next but destiny can be a funny thing.
