> The Madness of Duchess Starlight Glimmer > by princesspoppy11 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > The Lust of Equality > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- In a dark room stood a light pink pony with a purple and mint green mane. She was surrounded by unconscious ponies. At her hooves lied a bat with marks, scuffs, and scratches on it. She stood silently until she heard hoof steps approaching her. She jumped up, turned around, and lifted the bat close to her with her magic. "Well, well, well. What do we have here?" "Who are you?! Stay back!" The pink pony brought the bat close to the strangers head. "Put the bat down, Starlight. I'm not here to harm you." "Wha?! How do you know my name?!" "I'll answer you when you lower the bat." Slowly, Starlight dropped the bat. "I've been watching you for a while Starlight. It seems so unfair how they treat you for your hatred of cutiemarks and your wish for equality. I'm here to help you." "How do you know this?" Starlight came closer to the mysterious pony in front of her. "Isn't it obvious? You've been like this ever since Sunburst left you." Starlight hesitated to speak after hearing Sunbursts name. "Well...how could you help me anyways?" "With this." The dark figure revealed a purple and silver sword with flowers engraved on it. "Once you stab yourself with this, you will gain the magic required to achieve peace and equality." "So...all I have to do is stab myself and I'll be able to make everyone equal?" Starlight reached her hoof towards the sword. "Yes. Soon, you'll have made Equestria better. This is all you have to do to make sure you can do it." She handed the sword to Starlight, and she put it closer to her chest. "Alright. Here goes nothing." She stabbed herself with the sword. She looked down in horror to see the purple liquid coming from her body as she fell to the ground. The dark figure walked away, knowing that the cycle of sin would soon be started. Many moons later, Duchess Starlight Glimmer had achieved her goal. Everypony in her village was made equal. She would even go out of her town to spread equality. Everyday, at least one new pony would join her little village. If she couldn't get anypony to join, she'd just look at all of the cutiemarks that she had collected. It seemed that whenever she gained a new one, it made her thirst for them stronger. She'd always look at one it particular. It belonged to Sunburst, her childhood friend who had left her in order to start his magic studies lead by his cutiemark. It was one of these days where Starlight was looking at her vault of cutiemarks, when she saw something. It was a portrait of her when she got her cutiemark. She looked at it in horror, not remembering she had ever had something as awful as that. Sunburst walked into the room as soon as Starlight put the portrait in the fireplace. Sunburst walked up to Starlight and said: "I'm sorry that pony ever existed..." "It's not your fault Sunburst. It's mine." Starlight silently trotted out of the room, but Sunburst stayed and watched as the portrait of her burned. "I wish that pony was still here..." He said to himself. Slowly, he left the room as well. In a palace not far away lived a mare named Twilight Sparkle. She had been noticing the disappearance of many ponies and had noticed the absence of her assistant, Sunburst. She had also noticed that most days, a carriage would arrive at Starlights mansion, and soon after, a pony had gone missing. "I'm going to find you Sunburst. I promise." She picked up the sword next to her, used a spell to fade her colors, used paint to conceal her cutiemark, and hid the sword in her cloak. "No matter what it takes." She left her castle and started towards Starlights. She was going to end this madness. Later that day, a new mare had entered Starlights village. Without anyone knowing it, this pony made it to the room where Starlight was. She approached her and started a conversation. "Oh hello there Starlight." "Hm? Oh! Hello...heh...it seems I don't know you." "Well you wouldn't have had time to know me after this, so it's for the best I suppose." "What do you-" Before Starlight could finish her sentence, Twilight had stabbed her in the chest with her sword. Starlight looked down in horror to see that her red blood was changing into a purple hue. She fell to the ground and clenched her chest with her hooves and watched as Twilight galloped towards the cutiemark vault. With the end of her sword, she burst it open. Cutiemarks flew all around the mansion until the reached their owner. She looked for Sunburst, only to see that he was looking down upon Starlight. "S-sunburst....d-don't...leave me here..." "Goodbye Starlight. May your Lust drag you down to where you belong." And with that, Twilight and Sunburst left the mansion. "W-wait! I...haven't told you that...that I l-love you..." Starlights body went limp and the purple liquid that flowed from her body slowed until it stopped completely. Starlight had died and her madness had finally been put to an end. Later that day, Sunburst and Twilight had returned to their castle. Sunburst had went into a hidden room that no pony else knew about and began painting. All he could paint was Starlight. Soon, the whole room had been filled with her portrait. Meanwhile in Starlights mansion, a dark figure had picked up the sword that had started this madness, but left Twilights. "One down, six to go." And with that, this story has come to an end. THE END
