Waiting for Something

Staring at the wall only gets you so far. Letting time pass only grinds against your will.

Roseluck is secluded and doesn't go out very much. She always feels safe inside her home, away from the struggles of real life. With what meager activities she does. She likes to think that being alone actually means something. Having all that is required to survive and she has no problems or obligations to plague her own psyche. Yet, that single thought always comes to mind.

Was all the time spent alone really worth it?

It was a normal day in a quiet home, a few miles away from the general area of Ponyville. Roseluck awoke in her plaid bed. It's covers sloppily made over her body. Her limbs strewn across the bed as if they were thrown around like pieces of choice meat. Though, her tongue was out of her mouth and over her snout, she retracted it back as if it was a normal act. She got out of the bed with her back a bit sore from doing nothing, but knitting to her hearts content all night yesterday in bed. It was a fun past-time that she developed after all the other hobbies she used to do got played out.

Now she can't help, but create many socks and other clothing from the cotton plants she grew outside her home. Weaving the precious plant fiber into usable cotton with an old fashioned weaver made by herself. The weird thing that Roseluck never got tired of was gardening, she couldn't move on from having such a variety of plants to scour and grow in her homestead. Each plantae having many traits and uses for her own fun. No, it was too much of a enjoyable past-time to just suddenly abandon. Especially if it was her own personal food source that she survived on daily.

She continued down and went into the kitchen; it's wooden surface giving her slight memories of it's creation. Roseluck could remember like it was yesterday. Meticulously planning and building the home all by herself without any pony's help. All the small amounts of technology powered by the solar energy panels atop her roof. Using blueprints and taking several days with her own resources that she simply gathered by her lonesome. It really was simple to say the least, for her own creation of this house. Roseluck always was a "Do it yourself" kind of mare. It was probably the incredible boredom of her life that brought her to this.

Now she is doing random activities to stave off the boredom as per usual. If only there was a way to make things a bit more convenient to pass the time. Roseluck opened the fridge she hoofed crafted herself. Inside was some fruit and vegetables that were chilled. She took out the rutabaga and sat near the table to consume her meal. It crunched pretty well and had a good texture this time. Must have been all the new gardening techniques she had been experimenting with after all.

Now that was done, Roseluck exited her home and went outside. She trotted all the way, her belly full with nice amount of food, and finally reached her large garden that was in front of her home a few yards away. Different vegetables that were perfectly harvestable, but she had enough food to continue on back home. Only came to check if anything wrong or awry had happened to her precious food. And as predicted, nothing out of the ordinary had occurred overnight.

She slammed the dirt with a powerful stomp. The idea that nothing happened scathed her mind for the umpteenth time. Roseluck always wished that some creature or anything would come and steal her vegetables. Come and tell her how good it is and maybe come back home with her for some quality time...

Roseluck blushed from the very thought of doing such a thing. She didn't know what came over her and decided to quickly forget what she saw in her brain. Even if that changeling was a big and handsome thing, It still wouldn't take a second for it to take advantage of her. Even if her mind would bring such fantasies to her. There would be an iron will to such a blatant perversity.

"Hah, what am I thinking?" said Roseluck, laughing off the dream like it was nothing at all. "Must be the sweltering heat from being out for so long".

She trotted back to her home. It's large stature far off from the distance. Two windows around the second story of the place that she noticed. One window belonged to a separate room that she built for some pony else. Usually it would be for a guest or some pony that was lost around the area that she could help. As much as she wished that room was put to good use, it never had the light of day to ever fulfill it's reason for existence. It had gotten to the point to that she never should have wasted time on a second room in the first place.

As she came upon the doorsteps upon her home. A wild idea came into her mind that couldn't be ignored. She went up the stairs and past the kitchen floor into the room she had thought of. Looked upon the inside of the guest room and saw that not much had changed since she last checked it. It was exactly the same size as her own room, but seemingly untouched and less messy. No amounts of clothing neatly piled upon each other in droves on the floor. Just an empty room without anything out of the ordinary. By this time, it was already late and her hooves felt sore from walking so much. Even if the room was too creepily free of content, her exhaustion got the best of her. She lay down on the bed and relaxed.

The next day, she awoke and went upright in a jiffy atop her bed. She couldn't handle it anymore, the same routine of everyday. All alone and with no pony to talk to. After several years in seclusion, Roseluck ran out of her home and started laughing like a madmare all the way to Ponyville. Her constant fears completely destroyed by the insanity of not hearing a ponies voice sans that of her own. She kept running all the way until she was surrounded by buildings. Her heart raced as the very thought of meeting some pony caused her to breath hectically. Then, she saw somepony just standing alone ready to have a new friend.

Twilight Sparkle stood reading a book outside of Golden Oaks Library. She wanted to get up early to read this new book that was based on gardening. It infatuated her how many different species of plants had different traits that could be used. All in all, it was a gleeful morning before she was tackled out of nowhere.

"Hi! New Friend!" said Roseluck, lost in her need for social interaction. "Hey is that a gardening book!? I love to garden all the time! WE SHOULD BE FRIENDS".

And so Twilight had her first time making a friend while the said friend stood on her body.
