Watching as the train moved towards them. Rainbow looked behind her. Twilight and the rest of her friends were standing behind her. "When will you guys be back?" Rainbow asked as she walked to Twilight. "Well, i'm guessing by next week," Twilight responded. "So... Sunday?" Rainbow questioned. "No silly!" Pinkie said as she hopped to Rainbow. "It's obviously Tuesday!" "No girls! You are both wrong!" Twilight said with a chuckle. "We'll be back by Monday." Twilight said while elbowing Rainbow playfully. "All aboard that's coming aboard!" Yelled the engineer. "That's us!" Applejack said as she adjusted her hat. "We'd better go girls, can't miss the train can we?" Rarity said. Twilight led the other ponies to the entrance of the train. "Bye Rainbow! Bye Pinkie!" Twilight said as she waved her hoof out the window. "Bye!" said Rainbow and Pinkie as they watched the train rush by, letting the wind fly over to them. "Okey dokey! Now to plan the party!" Pinkie said as she jumped enthusiastically. "Huh?" "The welcome home party, of course!" Pinkie said as she booped Rainbow's muzzle" "Are you sure we can't take a nap?" Rainbow moaned with a yawn. "Maybe later. Let's go back to Sugarcube Corner!" Pinkie exclaimed as she hopped away. "Okey dokey lokey!" How about some cupcakes, Dashie?" Pinkie said as she opened the stove. "Sure. Why not?" Rainbow said while she sat in a nearby chair. Pinkie grabbed a cupcake tin from the stove and set it on the counter. She grabbed some milk, butter, and eggs and put the ingradients in a bowl and began to mix. "So how do you make cupcakes exactly?" Rainbow asked as she got off the chair. "It's easy! Just put in some ingredients, stick it in the oven, and frost it!" Rainbow gave Pinkie a sarcastic look. "So if I grab this..." Rainbow grabbed a carton of milk. "Put it in this..." Rainbow put the carton in a bowl.." "And stick it on the oven..." she said as she put the bowl in the oven. "I'll get cupcakes?" Pinkie laughed hysterically. She collapsed on the floor and laughed out tears. "Hehehehe! No silly!" Pinkie snorted out. Pinkie took out the bowl with a milk carton and set it back on the counter, grabbing the ACTUAL cupcakes and putting it in the oven. "We can save this for later! Hehehe!" Pinkie said as she grabbed the milk carton. Rainbow and Pinkie started laughing hard and collapsed on the floor. "Sigh... So what do you wanna do while we wait?" Pinkie said as she got up from the floor. "I dunno." Rainbow said as she stretched her wings. "I'm gonna take a short nap. Just 20 minutes is all, really." "Okey dokey!" Rainbow went upstairs and lay down in Pinkie's bed. She was tired after clearing clouds all day long. She stretched her wings and closed her eyes, eventually dozing off to sleep. Pinkie Pie smiled when she looked at the carton of milk. She set it back in the fridge as she gave out a quiet chuckle. Pinkie always had a thing for Rainbow. Ever since they started pranking, Pinkie saw Rainbow differently. Wait... you seriously don't like a mare do you Pinkie? she thought to herself. Maybe... Rainbow? Come on, she's just another friend of yours! But she is super duper cool! You can do better than that! There's plenty of fish in the sea! But I caught a shark... and it's a cute one. I can't let it go! > Dash-cakes > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pinkie sighed deeply. Rainbow could ever accept Pinkie liking her. They were both mares. She doesn't even know if she likes mares! The pink mare quietly stepped upstairs in hope of keeping Rainbow asleep. Pinkie walked towards her bed, looking at a cyan pony... a cute one. Snap out of it Pinkie! She thought to herself. Rainbow was in deep sleep, she probably wont wake up till a few hours. That's it! She could suprise Rainbow by giving her cupcakes once she wakes up, and that'll make her like her more! GASP! She could make it so Rainbow can like her more! Briliant! But wait... doesnt she suprise Rainbow all the time? Sigh... Pinkie gently stroked Rainbow's fur, trying her hardest to not wake her up. She looked so cute when she was asleep... BEEP! The cupcakes were ready. Pinkie headed downstairs to the oven. It looked big and tasty! Getting the cupcakes out of the oven, she grabbed basic frosting ingredients and frosted the cupcakes. Bluefrosting... Seems good enough! She gently sprinkled some rainbow sprinkles over the tasty cupcakes. They were ready! Pinkie trotted upstairs with a plate full of cupcakes while humming a short tune. "Dashie! Wake up Dashie!" Rainbow's eyes barely opened, grumbling at the fact that she was awoken. "The cupcakes are done!" Pinkie said as she held out a cupcake. Rainbow got up and took the cupcake, taking a large bite out of it. "I like how you decorated it. Heh heh." "Of course! I made them just for you!" Pinkie said with a smile. Rainbow felt a little blush come to her cheeks. "If it's just for me, then how come you're eating it?" Rainbow said covering her cheek. Pinkie looked down at the cupcake. Sure enough, she was eating it. "Heh heh heh! Good one Dashie!" Pinkie said laughing. "I dunno about you, but it's like i'm eating myself!" Rainbow said elbowing Pinkie lightly. "Little tiny...Dash cakes!" Pinkie snickered. "Oh come on Pinks! I can make worse puns." "Oh-cake! Dough ahead!" Pinkie said winking at Rainbow. "Fine...you got me..." Rainbow said laying back down. "Hey uh... Pinks... Can I tell you something?" Pinkie was confused. Rainbow had a serious tone, and she was looking at her straight in the eye. "Yeah..?" "I... kind of like somepony." Pinkie was shocked. Was this Rainbow? "Who is that somepony...?" "You." Pinkie's eyes widened. Her face went from pink to red. "You mean..." "Pinkie..." Rainbow said as she grabbed her hoof. She pulled her in closer and kissed her. > Flying Tricks > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pinkie woke up next to Rainbow. What? It was just a dream? They must've fallen asleep after finishing the cupcakes, Rainbow was still in deep sleep. Pinkie sighed. She's never gonna get the pony she loves. "Wake up, Rainbow!" Pinkie said while tugging Rainbow's arm. "5 more minutes..." Rainbow groaned. Well why not give her five more minutes? Pinkie needed time to recover from that... Interesting dream. Pinkie put the plate of cupcake wrappers back dowstairs and settled next to Rainbow. She thought it would be fun to scare her. Grabbing a nearby mask, she lay next to Rainbow and tapped her shoulder. "Wha...AHHHH!!!" Rainbow screamed once she saw the creepy mask on Pinkie Pie. "Pinkie! Don't do that!" Rainbow said petting her tail. "Hee hee! Sorry! I just felt like it!" Rainbow rolled her eyes. She would have to be stuck with her for a couple more days. Pinkie stared at Rainbow. She couldnt quite see her the same now, but just shrugged it off Looking at the clock in her bedroom, she saw the time. 7:38 PM. It was getting dark. "So uh... what do you wanna do now?" Pinkie awkwardly said. Rainbow thought for a moment, then an idea quickly pooped up in her head. "Come on!" Rainbow shouted while grabbing Pinkie and flying out of the bakery. She flew outside and landed on a big fluffy cloud. "Careful, now!" Rainbow said while Pinkie lay on her back. Since Pinkie obviously didn't have wings, she could walk on clouds, so she had to sit on Rainbow. Ugh this is so embarrasing... Pinkie's face went red. This was weird. "Okay, you're gonna jump!" Rainbow said to Pinkie. "WHAT?!" Pinkie yelled. Was Rainbow trying to kill her? Nonsense. Rainbow knew what she was doing... but she had to be sure... "Why?" "It's a move i've been working on. Don't worry! I'll catch you." Pinkie sighed and got up off of Rainbow, on the edge of her. "On the count of three...One...Two...Three!" Pinkie jumped off of Rainbow. This was awesome! It was like skydiving into a pool of cotton candy! But she didnt have a parachute...Or cotton candy. "Weeeeeee!" Pinkie exclaimed enthusiasticaly. Rainbow quickly flew over to Pinkie, catching her in an instant right before she hit the ground. "Gotchya!" Rainbow shouted. "Woah! You were like... super duper fast! That was awesome!" Pinkie said while bouncing uncontrollably. "Thanks, Pinks. Let's go back to Sugarcube Corner. It's pretty dark out." Rainbow said while adjusting her wings. The two mares went back to the bakery. It was pretty cold out. "Woah...it's freezing!" Pinkie said while trying to warm herself up. "Here, I got ya" Rainbow said while putting her arm around Pinkie's neck. Pinkie's cheeks were burning. Was Rainbow trying to flirt with her? Pinkie looked at Rainbow. "You warm yet?" Rainbow said. "Wha..? Oh yeah. Thanks." Pinkie stammered embarrasingly. Eventually, they did get to Sugarcube Corner. They settled in and took out a few snacks. "Is there anything else you do than parties?" Rainbow asked. "Baking, pranking, and laughing!" Pinkie said with a smile. "Other than flying, I nap. A lot" Rainbow said smirking. "Well I know THAT!" Pinkie responded. "I think i'm gonna sleep," Rainbow said yawning. "Okey dokey!" Pinkie said. Rainbow went upstairs to go to sleep, the stairs were pretty creaky. Pinkie grabbed a bag of chips from the counter. "I have to tell her tomorrow." > I have to tell her > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pinkie trotted upstairs to her bedroom. She realized that Rainbow was sleeping on her bed. Now what? She thought to herself. Pinkie didn't want to wake up Rainbow, she had looked so peaceful. Maybe she didn't have to wake her up. Pinkie walked over to the side of her bed, pushed Rainbow to the side, and got herself in the covers. Rainbow was snoring away right next to her, but she decided to ignore it. Eventually, she went to sleep. Pinkie Pie woke up. Her eyes still felt heavy from that sleep, but she got up from her bed anyway. As she got up from her bed, she smelled something...something burning. She decided to go investigate. Once she got upstairs she saw smoke everywhere. Was that...Rainbow? "Pinkie...A little help?" Rainbow stammered. She was stuck in a large lump of cookie dough. "What did you do?" Pinkie said trying to get Rainbow out of the dough. "I uh... tried making breakfast in bed for you..?" Rainbow replied with an awkward chuckle. Soon, she got Rainbow out of the cookie dough, but she realized the cookies were burning in the oven. "You decided to make ANOTHER batch of cookies?" Pinkie said in panic. "Uh huh..." Rainbow gulped. "That...is...so NICE of you! I would never ever think of anypony who would be so nice to ever make me a batch of cookies once I woke up!" Pinkie went on and on about Rainbow being nice, but the cookies were still burning. Rainbow reached over and got the cookies out of the oven, just before they caught on fire. She got all the smoke out by opening a window and pushing the smoke out. "-- And then I said 'Oatmeal? Are you crazy?" Pinkie pie continued saying. "Okay that's enough chatter," Rainbow interrupted Pinkie by putting her hoof over her mouth. Pinkie Pie looked over the the smoking cookies. They were practically just pieces of rock on a plate. "Look...I'm really sorry. I just thought it would be nice if I made you a little gift." Rainbow said scratching the back of her head nervously. Pinkie turned her head to Rainbow and gave her a big smile. "That was the best gift ever! Who cares if you made me coal for breakfast! It still means you lo- I mean um... care for me?" Pinkie said sweating from all the excess smoke in the room. "Still means I what?" Rainbow said in confusion. Pinkie immediately got nervous. Great job for spitting it out, Pinkie! She ruined it. Rainbow had to know eventually. It's now or never. "Are you alright Pinkie?" Rainbow questioned. "I um... NO! There's-so-much-smoke-in-here-i-think-we-should-go-outside-before-we-choke-to-death!" Pinkie said without stopping. She pushed Rainbow out her door leading her outside. Rainbow was confused, Pinkie was acting so strange. What did she really want to tell her? "Pinkie, what's going on?" Rainbow said with a serious tone. Pinkie sighed slowly. She wanted to tell her the truth, she really did. But she didn't know how to say it, or how Rainbow would react. Thinking about this made Pinkie sweat nervously. "Can I tell you inside?" Pinkie said. This wasn't just your everyday Pinkie voice. This was a low, serious Pinkie voice. Meaning that this was important. In her eyes, Pinkie nearly started tearing up, her large blue eyes full of stress. The two colorful ponies walked back inside, just about all the excess smoke from the "breakfast" has gone away. Rainbow knew that Pinkie has something serious to get off her chest, so she tried her best to stay 'Rainbow Professionalism Dash'. Telling Rainbow the truth was the hardest thing Pinkie was gonna do. She took a deep breath... "Rainbow, for the longest time, I had seen a pony that had was amazing, cute, and daring." Rainbow made a face. Where was Pinkie going with this? She wasn't interested in all this mushy stuff, but Pinkie was her friend. She decided to keep listening. "This pony... they were the best. One of my best friends. I had fallen in love with them, actually." Pinkie said with a giggle. Both of them blushed "You know who that pony is?" "Who?" "You" Rainbow's pupils dilated. WHAT? she thought to herself. Pinkie had loved her...? Her cheeks went from pink to red. "You don't feel the same way...do you..?" Pinkie said with her ears drooping, backing away slowly. "I...uh..." Rainbow didn't have any clue what to do. "It's... fine. I'll be upstairs in my room." Pinkie said with her voice breaking. Rainbow felt awful. Pinkie looked so... sad. She could see the despair in her eyes, followed with tears. She heard the door shut, and distant crying. It almost felt like she just got stabbed by a knife... Rainbow sat on the couch thinking about what she could've said. She could have made Pinkie happy. Her ears drooped and her happiness escaped herself like water down a drain. She flew upstairs. She couldn't leave her best friend alone. She had to help. Her hand rested on the door, finally building her courage to knock. "Pinkie? Please let me in." Rainbow said with a soft voice. "okay" Pinkie responded with a sad voice. As Rainbow opened the door, she saw Pinkie sitting on her bed, curled up. Tears were all over her face, and her eyes lost their bright, happy color. "Pinkie..." Rainbow said sitting next to her. "I have something to say, too." Rainbow said with a smirk. This caught Pinkie's attention. She looked at Rainbow. "Ever since this week, I started to like you a lot more. It's not that I... Love you... but you just...Well, you're the kind of pony that sticks out more. You're funny, nice, and don't tell anypony I said this, but you're kind of cute. Sure, you can talk a little too much, but that's what I like about you. You're always there for me, no matter what." Rainbow said. Pinkie felt better and started to tear up. "Thank you, Rainbow." Pinkie said with a sniff. Oh, and I think I really owe you this. Rainbow grabbed Pinkie and gave her the first hug ever. It wasn't bone crushing, or a brief hug, it was a show of love. A show of care. A sign that she will always love Pinkie.
