> King of Monsters > by FeralPaw > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Chapter one > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was a fair day. Plenty of ponies were out and about, doing what they wanted to. A fair spring morning, Timber Horn had to think as he use his magic to lift the timber from the path. They didn't call him Timber Horn for no reason. He trotted along, making clear of the path, removing bits of wood that could hurt a young foal or pony. He had to make sure nopony was to get hurt. Timber Horn never went too far- he'd known from the stories many dangers such as Timber wolves. His long, dark brown mane with light brown streaks waved in the wind as he trotted back, the noises of his hometown came into hearing. The chocolate brown stallion loved his town, despite him not being the talking type. Although he was well known due to his job. Finally, arriving into the familiar town, he smiled at the familiar ponies throughout town. He noticed a beige pony walking towards him. "What can I do for you?" He asked. "I was supposed to drop this food off at Fluttershy's place, but sadly I'm too busy. Can you take it to her? It's okay if not, but I just.." "Oh, it's fine. I have plenty of time left." Timber Horn replied. "Thank you!" The mare handed him the bag, which the stallion adjusted it on him. He trotted off, which in the direction of Fluttershy's house. :---: Fluttershy seemed to be in a rather odd rush. She was checking cupboards, zipping from one place to another, as a certain bunny stood next to a bowl. She turned back to said bunny. "I'm sorry Angel, but I don't have any food! Oh no, the pony with the food should've been here by now.." She said in a worried voice. Ironically, somepony knocked on the door. What seemed like a flash, Fluttershy opened the door to a chocolate brown stallion. "Hi, somepony gave me this because they were too busy." He spoke, handing her a bag of feed. "Oh, thank you!" Fluttershy spoke great fully, all worry ceasing to exist. Just as the stallion turned to leave, Fluttershy spoke again. "You're Timber Horn, right?" "Yes, indeed I am." "Well.. T-thank you, Timber Horn." Said stallion nodded with a smile, before trotting off. Fluttershy started to care for her animals. :--: Meanwhile, the Pacific Ocean.. The man watched the scanner beep. The dot on the green scanner appeared to be their submarine. He watched. "It seems to be yet another day, Dr. Jones. I'm telling you, there's nothing down here." The man laid back in his chair. Dr. Jones looked up from his work, several men in the backround at work. "Yet what would explain radioactive signals far in the ocean?" He asked, a hint of aggression in his voice. "It was probably just testing. Besides, the technology today still can't be trusted. Why can't we all just go ho-" The man cut off, looking back at the scanner. Dr. Jones leaned over. A large dot at appeared on the screen. "Why, that's the biggest one on record." Dr. Jones mumbled. A few other men leaned over. "Do you think it is..?" "Yes." The dot was now moving closer. "Resurface! Now!" Dr. Jones yelled. Several people looked outside, just to see a dark shape shift by. The submarine started to rise, before an earsplitting crunch echoed through the ears of many people. The noise of metal, being crushed. Water leaked into the room, alarms erupting, but the voices of panicked men drowned it out. Fortunately, the holes were small, but water leaked in at an alarming speed. Finally, it resurfaced, but with a few moments of that, the dot on the radar.. Vanished. The men were quick thinkers and blocked the hole, then looked at Dr. Jones. "How the hell.." Dr. Jones started. "Call for help. We want to get this report filed in." He finished. A man pulled a device to his mouth, starting to speak into it, as he called for help. This was one of their biggest mysteries yet - was it really the king? :-: In everfree forest, many creatures of Equestria pondered about. A group of timber wolves wandered around, their green gaze flickering in the moon. One of them let out a bark as a bunny hopped past them. The timber wolves began to chase it, just as the bunny sped up. It led them to the darker spots of the forest, where the bunny made strange movements as it darted past two trees. The wolves tried to dash after it, but were stuck in something. A large shadow loomed over the now fearful timber wolves. This shadow, it gave no mercy to one who gets stuck in its trap. Everyone. Ponies, timber wolves, dragons. In fact, it was almost as big as a dragon. Everyone. The wolves whined but the predator moved yet again, it's many blue eyes glowing in the slight light of the moon. It was all silence after. :: Celestia's sun began to rise just as Luna's moon fell. Ponies began to get to work. A certain pony, Fluttershy, exited her house with some baskets. She began trotting down the familiar path. As she trotted past her fish pond, she chuckled and pulled some fish food from her bag. The fish- all of many shapes and sizes happily bobbed up as the mare fed them. After finishing off, she continued down the path. "Ah!" She yelled in fear as she tripped over a large hole. To be exact... There were many holes. They anchored off the path, heading to the beach. "Oh d-dear," she started as she studied the holes, "I hope this isn't a d-dragon.." Indeed, the foot prints were rather large and dragon like. Whatever has been here made quite a bit of noise last night.. -- Fluttershy woke up. There it was again! The great loud noise, outside, as if something had been roaming out in the rainy night. She could've sworn she heard a rather scared timber wolf, so she'd brought in her animals to be safe. Already, the mare set up a little tent for her animals. Fluttershy shivered. "G-goodnight, everybody.." She managed to say, just as some thumps shook her home. Then, it had stopped. Out of total fear, the pony hid under her blankets. : ..and whatever WAS or WHO was here was messy, too. Where they went, trees were crushed and ripped. Fluttershy decided not to bother with it. She trotted off at a fast pace, feeling much more safer in Ponyville.
