> Against the Shadows > by DazzleMLP84 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Spring Breeze > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It half past noon at Canterlot High, and everyone was at their usual level eating and talking. Most of them were excited with summer vacation less than three weeks away. Everyone except Adagio. She slowly ate her leftover Cheese Ravioli, while she was looking down out at it. A light breeze came through the open window in the cafeteria, giving her a Chill. She tugged on her new white leather jacket trying to warm her up. She also had on a purple short dress with a gold belt, and purple lace up boots with gold laces. She still had on the necklace Rarity gave to her the night of the Moonlight Dance. Things have been calm since things were handled at the dance. Too calm. "Adagio, Are you okay?" Sunset asked. "Yes, I'm fine." "Really, Darling? I know that look on your face. You must be worried about something." "Um. Maybe it's the fact that we only have three weeks left of Canterlot High." Fluttershy replied. "Fluttershy, since we are Seniors we get out a week early. So technically it's only two weeks." Twilight responded. "Twilight, that doesn't mater that she got the weeks wrong. The point she was trying to get across was that we have a limited time before we are all going to be split up by college." Aria replied while playing a hand held ASI video game. "That's not what I'm worried about, Guys. I don't even think I'm worried about anything. I just spaced out, okay." Adagio answered. "We understand Adagio. Out of everybody here, you are one the few who shouldn't have to worry about that. While some of should be worrying more about this." Applejack replied while looking at Aria and Rainbow Dash. "For your information, I got ten acceptance letters last week." Aria protested. "And I got nine acceptance letters earlier this week." Rainbow Dash added. "Yeah. While Adagio, Sunset, and Twilight each have around twenty-five acceptance letters. That have been coming in since four weeks ago." Applejack continued. "Okay. Can you guys please stop comparing how many acceptance letters we have? It really doesn't matter! What matters is that we at least have some acceptance letters." Sunset cut in while leaving the table to dump her tray. "Sunset is right. Why should any of us be worrying about this, when we all have at least an acceptance letter." Adagio joined her to dump her trash as well. "That was pointless anyway. Oh, by the way Applejack, you made me loose my game." Aria replied. "Well that's too bad!" "Applejack, it's a bad sign when you make her lose her game. I know because I accidentally made her lose Poly Park 2, which is her favorite game." Sonata cut in. "Sonata, I still don't forgive you for that." Aria commented. "Oh come on! That was two weeks ago, plus you finished the game anyways." "But, I had to start over!" "Yeah, but at least you got to have more time to play your favorite game." Pinkie butted in. "Okay, but that was the only plus side to that issue." Aria agreed. Adagio and Sunset slowly took their seats, while joining back in the conversation. "Okay, what happened while we were gone." Sunset asked. "Nothing much, darling. Aria and Sonata were trying to resolve their issues from two weeks ago, when Sonata made Aria lose Poly Park 2." "Oh my gosh. You guys still haven't resolved that." Adagio added. "Actually, Adagio. Sonata and I finally resolved it." Aria protested. "Okay, guys we really don't need to get into fights about small things." Sunset added. Just than the bell rang. And everyone rushed to their lockers. Once Adagio got to her locker, she put in her combination and opened her locker. She lightly took out her light pink lip gloss. As she looked at herself in her mini mirror below many instapic selfies of her, Sunset and Twilight. She lightly applied her lip gloss and grabbed her accounting book. As closed her locker, her boyfriend Flame Charge was standing right in front of her. "Hey, Princess." He greeted her. "Hey, yourself." "Okay, please tell me you don't have acceptance letters. Because I know some more Colleges to apply for." "I have plenty, thank you very much." "Okay, so you are all set for College. I guess all that's left to plan for our wedding." "No, we are not going to talk about that until we both graduate from College first." "Actually, I want be detective." "Oh, you do?" "Yeah, you know solve cases, save people, and bring people to justice." "Well I guess if you want to that you can do that." Adagio said trying to walk towards her class. "Hey, have your parents already started planning your graduation party?" Flame Charge asked stopping. "Yes, they have. They already started getting decorations for the party, and the party isn't until two months from now. Even if though my father is disappointed that I decided not go back to Equestria. But, I going to let Cadence take care of it." "Well, it really isn't their choice. Because you're eighteen now, so you have to make your own choices. And he is just going to have to accept it." "Yeah, I know. I just don't like disappointing him since we just got reunited. Um, I better get to class." "Okay, my little princess." Adagio snickered as she started to walk towards to her next class. Flame Charge started to walk in the opposite direction. She walked into her class and took her seat. As she started to daydream about everything that had happened since that monster Ruby was taken to where she belonged. She had nothing to worry about. While everyone was either worrying about college or excited for summer, she was in a calm mood. She had her plan for the future that was just waiting to be carried out, even if that would mean her and her friends won't always be together, she still had a small sliver of hope that they would still be friends after college. Well of course she did, it's one of her personality traits. "I guess, I was right. The future is bright I just had to wait for it." She thought to herself. > Tears and Not So Sweet Dreams > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Later that night across town in a fancy hotel, a twelve year old girl walked in the doors. She had a similar skin tone to Adagio, her hair had a mixture of lighter orange and darker orange colors in a side ponytail, and she had light magenta eyes. She had on a dark magenta hoodie over a bubblegum pink shirt with a hot pink heart on it. She also had light gray shorts over light pink leggings and a pair of silver short UGG boots. She also was wearing diamond earrings and was carrying around a pink leather purse. She slowly walked up to the front desk and rang the service bell. Sunny Flare in hotel uniform slowly walked up to the girl. “Can I help you?” Sunny Flare asked the girl. “Yes. Can I please have room?” “Um. Are your parents coming?” “No! My parents and I were separated. What makes things worse is that someone after me, so even if I could find them, I won’t be safe.” The girl said starting have tears in her eyes. “I’m sorry, little one. But, I can not give people free rooms to people without money. That rule has already been broken twice.” “First off, don’t call me little one. My name is Allegro Flare. And second off I have money.” “Say your name again.” “Allegro Flare?” “That name sounds so similar to Flame Charge and Adagio Dazzle. Do you know them?” Allegro looked down and back up again. “No!” “Okay? So how much money do you have?” “Oh, nothing besides one thousand dollars. But, of course if you don’t want my money just because I’m young I’ll just go to the hotel across the street. I think they would love to have my money.” Allegro said as she started to walk away. “Wait!” Sunny Flare shouted while stopping her. “Yes?” “You can stay here for a week if you pay that right now.” “Okay. I also have more on my debit card anyways.” “You have more?” “Yes, I do.” “Okay, here is your room key. Do you want me to lead you up to your room?” Sunny Flare explained as she traded the money for the room key.” “No, I’m good. Thank you.” Allegro replied as she happily skipped toward the elevator. She punched the nine button as the elevator rose from the ground level. She look down at the room number, it was 912. Then it suddenly stopped and the doors opened up. She continued to walk in the hall until she found room 912. She used the key to open the door and she walk into a suite room with a mini fridge and microwave one corner the white room. Allegro just rushed to the bed and started cry. Tears continuously fell down her cheeks and on the bed. “Why is this happening to me? I really want this to be over so I go home to my mom and dad! I know they miss me, I’m their only child. Their perfect little angel. I want to go home, but I know I can’t. I’m in danger there. ” She heard a small crash. She looked around for second. She grabbed a wand with a clear top with pink sparkle dust and bead like things in it, while the handle was bubblegum pink. The top started glow pink as she held it tighter. “Hello, is anyone there? I’m not afraid to use this, so unless you want to fight leave me alone.” Everything was silent and was empty besides the pink purse on the bed. “It was probably just a squirrel.” Quickly, Allegro went to go get a towel from the bathroom. When she came back to the bed she continued her crying, which got heavier and heavier until she eventually cried herself to sleep. ____________________ At Adagio's house, she was fast asleep on her couch in her room with her cat, Amethyst sleeping floor close to her. She dreamed she was on top of a hill with a tree keeping the shade. Everything was calm and peaceful until, it suddenly got dark outside until there was barely any light. Allegro ran up to in fear of a shadow following behind the child. She went up to Adagio held her tightly like she was a teddy bear. “You have to help me! Someone is after me! I need help!” Allegro pleaded. “I want to help! What is your name?” “I don’t have enough time to explain that. They will be here soon.” “Who? Who is after you?” “You know one of them. The older one.” “I can’t help you if you can’t tell me anything.” “Please, don’t let them get me please. Protect me like you and dad have promised.” “Your dad? Me?” Allegro started to sink her shadow as she started to sink faster and faster like it was quick sand. “Please help me before it’s too late!” Adagio tried to reach to her, but Allegro was quickly engulfed by the shadow. Leaving nothing behind. “How can I help you if I don’t know your name?” Adagio suddenly woke up after that panting. She hadn’t reacted that much to an nightmare since the Moonlight dance. She checked the time on the clock, 1:30 am. “Who was that little girl? Who was after her? Why did she said that I promised something to her?” Adagio said out loud, waking up Amethyst. “Oh, sorry. Amethyst. I didn’t mean to wake you up. I’m just trying to figure out my dream, you can back to sleep." Amethyst returned to her nap spot and went back to sleep. "Is Ruby after her? No, she can’t be! Ruby is in jail, unless.” Adagio sprinted over to her laptop, took it to her bed and checked the city jail status of the prisoners. And sure enough Ruby was still there under extreme supervision. “Ruby can’t be possibly after her, can she? Maybe it was just another nightmare just scare to me to death. That girl is not real and she is just a figment of my imagination. Isn’t she?” Adagio’s eyes started to get drowsy as she started to fall asleep again. Setting her laptop on her nightstand. “I’m just going to have to talk to Twilight and Sunset about this tomorrow. They could help me figure out what this all means.” She told herself as she grew drowsy and fell asleep again on her bed. > What's this? > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next afternoon, at the Cakes. Adagio, Sunset, and Twilight sat in a corner booth, drinking frappuccinos. This would be one the few times they would get to do this before they would go to college. "Now, this is nice. Right guys? Too bad everyone else was too busy to join us. " Sunset stated. "Yeah, it was really a good idea to go here, Adagio. With us all going to college soon." Twilight replied. "That wasn't the only reason, I wanted to do this. I want to talk about something with you guys." Adagio responded. "Well, what is the reason then?" "I had a nightmare last night." "Adagio, I thought we got over with Ruby back in junior year." Sunset replied. "It wasn't her, it felt more like a cry for help. From a twelve year old girl, the same age I was turned. She looked terrified, and tired. She said that some people are after her, and I knew one of them. Then she started to say protect me like you and dad have promised me. Then she sank in her own shadow. The whole protect me like you and dad promised still confuses me. Why would she say that? I haven't met a single twelve year old girl that looked like her. Also you and dad, why in the world would she add that?" Adagio explained as she started to panic. "Okay, calm down. What did the girl look like?" "She looked a lot like me with shorter hair in a side ponytail, and without my yellow streaks. She also had darker orange streaks instead. She was wearing a dark pink hoodie over a light pink shirt with a heart on it. She also had on light grey shorts, light pink leggings, and short silver UGG boots." "Okay, no offense Adagio. But that sounds an awful like your future dream child, for you and Flame Charge." Twilight commented. "I'm not making her up. She looked like that." "Okay, so what was her name?" Sunset asked. "She wouldn't tell me." "More proof that she is your future child. Because if she told you her name you would know exactly what your child's name would be, when the time came." Twilight commented. "Okay, first off Twilight. Stop with all the future talk. You are starting to sound like a person from a time travel movie. And second off, I'm pretty sure that she is not..." Adagio said as Allegro walked through the doors and headed to the counter. "....my future child." Allegro headed back to a booth with a strawberry cream frappuccino in her right hand. She slowly sat down as she took out her phone and earbuds. She put them in as she started to listen to music. Adagio had a shocked look on her face as she stared at Allegro. Allegro looked back at her a weird look and looked back at her phone. "She looks exactly like the girl from my dream, but if she was my future child shouldn't she be in the future. Unless there is a way for time travel, which I don't even know if it is possible." "There probably is a way, because I bet someone invented time travel in the future." Twilight explained. "Okay, Twilight. Can you please stop before you make Adagio go insane?" Sunset asked. "Fine!" "Adagio, for right now I think you should file your dream in storage. Because that really shouldn't be what you are worrying about. The last time you worried about a dream, let's just say that you were in a dressing room with a cut on both your arm and leg. You still have the scars to prove it." "Okay. But that wasn't because of the dream, Sunset. What really happened was I broke the mirror and two shards happened to cut my arm and leg." Adagio replied. "That doesn't matter. What matters you got hurt. You know what let's just go and get our dresses for graduation. Luckily tomorrow is Friday, so it should be laid back." "Okay, let's go!" The three girls left the cafe, leaving Allegro alone in the booth in the corner. As soon as Allegro heard the door click she gave a sigh of relief. "That was so close. I'm just glad Sunset stop my mom from realizing that I really am her future child. I guess my mom was hiding more things besides that she is the original princess of the crystal empire. I've always wondered why she had those scars on her leg and arm. I just assumed that Ruby caused those." Allegro said to herself, sipping her strawberry and cream frappucino. Suddenly the door to cafe open and another twelve year old stepped in. She had red hair with hot pink and gold streaks in ponytail. Her skin was an amber color and she had piercing light green eyes. She was wearing a hot pink shirt with a rosette in the center, a blue jean skirt, and hot pink flats with gold straps. She also had a rosette in her hair. As she walked up to the counter, Allegro stared at her with a look of recognition. The girl slowly walked toward Allegro with a caramel frappucino. She sat down next to Allegro and stared back at her. "Summer, when I told you I was going back in time for a week, I didn't ask if you wanted to come with me." Allegro said to the girl. "Please, as if I'm going to let my best friend go back in time without me." Summer replied. "Please, just tell me that you didn't tell Twyla. Because she would probably freak out." "No, I'm the only one who knows anything about this." "Good and it'll stay like that. Also, Summer how did you get here without your parents noticing?" "Well, my parents work late so I just locked the door to my room from the inside and sneaked out the window locking it after I left." "Okay, but when you get grounded for sneaking out it'll be your problem not mine." "What about you miss perfect shouldn't you be more worried? With the fact how worried your parents will be when they get home from their business trip and they don't find you watching TV, eating cherry friendship dip?" "Chill out. I'll be home before they come back, and it'll be like nothing happened." "Yeah, yeah." "Well since you're here, I guess you can stay in my hotel room with me." "Okay, lead the way." The girls took their drinks as they headed off to the hotel. When they finally arrived, Sunny Flare looked at Allegro and Summer with a questioning look on her face. "Allegro, who is this?" She asked. "This is my best friend, Summer Starlight. She bumped into me into the cafe. Is it okay if she stays with me in my room?" Allegro asked. "Well, I guess it's fine because you already paid money." "Thanks, Sunny Flare. See ya." Allegro said as Summer and her headed off to the elevator. Allegro pushed the nine button as they went up. "How do you know her?" Summer asked. "I think she competed against your mom in the friendship games. She was a part of the skating team." > Secrets, BFFS, and more Secrets > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Allegro and Summer were walking down the hallway, until they reached room 912. Allegro started to dig threw her purse until she found the key. Summer suddenly realized the wand that was in Allegro's purse. Allegro opened the door and both of them stepped in the room as they sat on the two beds. They sat and looked back each other. "Allegro, why do have wand in your purse?" Summer asked. "No reason. I just like it." Allegro responded with a guilty look on her face. "Allegro, I can tell you're lying!" "Fine, my mom gave it to me for my twelfth birthday. It has Equestrian magic in it. There I told you the truth." "Why didn't you tell me about it before? You know that I'm into Equestrian Magic, even after I found out about the incident with my mom at the Fall Formal." "Don't you remember what happened on my birthday at school! That also happened to be day you found about the Fall Formal incident, thanks a lot to Presto. You were pretty down about it, so I thought I shouldn't go and show you my present. Because you could've felt even worse if I decided to show it off." "Okay, that makes logical sense. But back home school was out, so why didn't you tell me then?" "Summer, I had too many things on my mind. Since I started getting nightmares, and Ruby and Mezzo starting to go after me just because she wants revenge against my mom. It was just too stressful for me." "What was that about Ruby?" "I said too much." "She is after you?! Why didn't you tell your mom?" "I was too scared about how my mom would react! Luckily Ruby will stop it when I get home. Because when I get home it'll be past the day when she did that horrible thing to my mother." "Let me get this straight. You went back in time just because Ruby and Mezzo are after you, and you feel more safe in a time that we don't exist than your house?" "Yes." "Allegro, I think you overreacted. And you would have been just fine if you stayed home and locked all the windows and outside doors." "No, I wouldn't be. Ruby would find a way in, she always does. I don't feel safe by myself in the house. I just kept waiting for Ruby to jump out and ruin my life." Allegro said as she started to panic. Summer walked over to the other bed and rested her hand on Allegro's shoulder. "Calm down. She can't get to us now, because if she did she would mess up the timeline with there being two of her." "Okay, Summer." "I also have to ask why is there a damp towel on your bed?" Summer asked as she picked up the towel and threw it towards the bathroom. "I had a fever last night." Allegro replied as that guilty look crossed her face again. "Allegro?!" "Fine! I cried myself to sleep, last night." Allegro admitted as she started to break into tears. "You are missing your parents, aren't you?" Allegro nodded with tears rolling down her face. "Don't worry, we are in this together. There is no way I'm going to let them hurt my best friend." ___________________________ "I still don't believe that girl looked identical to the girl from my dream, Sunset. Not to mention how similar she looked to me and Flame Charge." Adagio stated while hanging out at Sunset's house. "I guess it was kind of weird that she looked that way. For now let's throw the idea of time travel out for a little bit. I mean it's not like she is friends with a girl that looked like me." "Yeah, that would be so awkward." "Sunset!" Midnight yelled from the other room. "What do you want?!" "Do you know where, Mom hid my bubblegum?" "Yes, I do. But I'm not telling because you are still grounded from that incident at the Buffet last week." "Fine! I'll try to find it myself before Mom gets home from work." "Good luck, trying to find it." Sunset responded sarcastically. "Your sister still has major problems, Sunset." Adagio stated. "Yeah, she does. Good thing I only have to deal with her until I go to college next fall." "You know, that when you and Thunder Bass get married that you have to make her one of your bridesmaids." "That's going to be the worst part of my wedding, the next will be picking the Maid of Honor." "Really, Sunset? Just pick the person that got you two together in the first place. That's what I will do when that moment comes." "I would do that, but both you and Twilight got us together. Although I was the one who got you and Flame Charge together, so I might make Twilight the Maid of Honor to make it even." "That way it all works out. Let's stop talking about this now before Midnight comes in here saying there is no way she is going to wear the bridesmaid dress that you pick." "Yeah, it's kind of awkward that we are talking about this when we haven't graduated from college yet." "All right change of subject. Where do you want to go to college?" "Oh gosh, I have like no idea where I want to go, but that's because I have way too many choices." "Chill out, I still haven't decided yet. I might have picked my career choice, but I have no idea where I want to go." "Go get all of your college acceptance letters from your house, and bring them back." "Why?" "We are going to decide where we are going to college tonight , even if it takes us until 6 am." > Darkness Gets Closer > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- In the year 2032, in a dark apartment building towards the end of town. Ruby Shine was sitting in a recliner staring at a twelve year old at the other end of the room. The girl had the same skin tone and a similar shade of red in her short straight hair to Ruby. She also had darker red highlights and piercing blue eyes. She was wearing a black hoodie over a dark red t-shirt, a black ruffled skirt, and a pair of black converse. She had a ruby pendant on indicating that she was somewhat siren. A look of respect crossed her face as she looked at her mother. "Mezzo Sharp! You were supposed to get Allegro and bring her here so we can repeat what I did to Adagio! Ugh! I thought my daughter would do what I say, unlike those traitors, Jade and Opal!" Ruby said yelling at the twelve year old. "Well it's not my fault that she has a magic wand, so she can't be contained. Plus I don't have anything against her." Mezzo fought back "Yes, you do. Her mother took away my powers, and her grandparents tried to eliminate our species. You have a very good reason to go after her!" "I'm not completely a siren, MOM! I'm also half-human, because of Dad." "You will never mention your Father ever again. Am I clear?!" "Why, do you not want me to mention Dad? He loved me a lot, but you just divorced him and took me with you." "Your father was not in favor of me hurting, Adagio's little princess. So I had to divorce him." "I want to go live with Dad!" "What?!" "I'm out! I don't want to continue this feud anymore!" "Listen! You will do as I say, and if you don't, I'll do the job myself and I will make sure you never see your father." "Fine, but I'll tell Allegro that I really don't want to..." "NO! You will do it, like you want this to continue. I'm not willing to give up this fight yet, and you aren't getting my way." "I thought you cared about me." "I don't care about anyone, Mezzo. It's in my nature, it should be in your nature too, but I think your Father gave you way too many kind traits. You want me to care about you, well turn Allegro into a siren and I'll care about you." Mezzo looked up at her with her respecting eyes, as for a moment her facial expression turned to anger. "I'll do it!" "That's my good girl. Now remember, you must do it before the clock strikes midnight in three days. That was the day I turned Adagio into one. If you don't then, Allegro will remain as a Alicorn princess from another dimension like her mother. And we can't do anything about it. Don't blow it, if you fail to do it to her, I will take action." "Don't worry, I will give you that revenge you promised Adagio. You don't have to go after Allegro." Mezzo said running away into downtown. Mezzo sprinted as fast she could until she reached the rich section of town. She walked around the area looking at all the houses. She stopped as soon as she reached the Carmel villa on top the hill. She took out a bobby pin, as she picked the lock. The door opened and Mezzo sprinted inside. She looked around at the beautiful decor of the house, the living room had a chocolate brown sectional and two recliners with a huge flat screen TV. Frantically she looked around the house for Allegro. "Allegro, you can't hide from me for long. Please come out and it'll make it easier for both of us." Suddenly she found a note on the coffee table in the living room, and slowly she read it to herself. Dear Mom and Dad, I'm sorry that I'm not here at the moment. Twyla needed help with babysitting her sister, Periwinkle, while Flash and Twilight were out of town. So I agreed to help her out, I will come home when Periwinkle falls asleep so don't worry about me. Love You, Allegro. "Not very helpful, Allegro. So you are gone, you are just asking for this to be hard. Well, I'm still going to find you and you will have the same fate as your mom." Mezzo said accidentally knocking over a jar pens right next to her. One of the pens glowed a UV light showing some words on the back of the note. She used the UV light to read the back of the note. Okay, what I said on the front wasn't true. I just wrote that down so you wouldn't worry about me. The truth is I went back in time to the year, 2016 to avoid Ruby and Mezzo. They have been after me since I turned twelve and I don't safe for these last five days without one of you home. I would've told you this sooner, but I was too scared how you guys would react. So I wrote this on the back in invisible ink. Please don't worry about me if you are reading this, I will be home after it is past the day you were turned, mom. If I never see you again, I want you to know that love you guys so much and I really do miss you. Love you, Allegro. "Thank you, for giving me your location, Allegro. I knew you would leave something behind indicating where you are, but I never thought that you would make it tricky to find out. Now all that's left for me to go find you, I hope you like nightmares." Mezzo said tapping on her watch as she transported back to 2016. ________________________ At Sunset's house in 2016, Sunset and Adagio were fast asleep. Adagio was asleep on the couch, while Sunset was on her bed. Sunset started to toss and turn . Sunset began dream. She was in a dried out forest with fog all around her. The forest had a constant feeling of unsteadiness. "Hello? Is anyone there?" She called out. "Only me." Summer called back, walking towards Sunset. "Who are you?" "Someone you will meet later." "Can you please tell me exactly who you are?" "No, I can't. I don't have enough time, my friend, Allegro is in danger." "Is Allegro, the girl that looks like Adagio?" "Yes, she is. I can't say anymore, if I do we'll both be in more trouble." "No, you won't. Tell me everything and me and Adagio can help you. We already dealt with danger more than once." "I know that already." "How do you know that?" "Once again, I can't say." Sunset suddenly woke up, covered in sweat. "Sunset? Why are you up?" Adagio said starting to wake up. "I had a dream." "What was it about?" "A twelve year old girl talked to me. She said that her friend was in danger, and she couldn't reveal her own name otherwise she and her friend would be in trouble. All she said was that we would meet later and her friend looked like you. She looked a lot like me, but she also had hot pink highlights. She was wearing a hot pink shirt with a rosette in the center, a blue jean skirt, hot pink ballet flats with gold straps, and had a rosette in her hair." "Did she tell you the name of her friend?" "Yes, it was Allegro." Adagio quickly woke up with recognition as soon as she heard that name. "Allegro?!" "Yeah, why does that matter?" "That was the name me and Flame Charge chose if we were going to have a daughter later on." > Chilly Morning > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "First off, Adagio. What? And second off why were you and Flame Charge talking about baby names when you guys aren't even married yet?" Sunset asked. "We were bored, so we decided to make a list of cute baby names for the future, when we are married. And yes, Allegro was our favorite girl baby name." "While you guys were doing that did you come up with last names as well?" "No! That we were going to decide that when we get married." "Well, then all we know is that girl, is named Allegro, your favorite girl baby name, looks like you and is in danger. That is pretty much is a dead giveaway that she is your child from the future. And if she is from the future, I'm assuming the girl from my dream is my future child, because she said that Allegro was her best friend, and looked a lot like me." "Twilight was so right. But we aren't completely sure of this, yet. We still don't know the other girl's name or if they have any connection to Equestria." "And if we don't know that. We can't be sure that they are from the future, without looking insane." "Okay, I wasn't expecting to be worrying about this topic when it is two weeks until graduation. I thought I would be worried about college." "What is the point? You, Me and Twilight are already for college. Plus we haven't had an Equestrian magic incident since the Moonlight Dance last year. So I guess this makes sense why this is happening now." "Perfect sense. I was noticing that it was too calm, especially when it's two days away from 'the' day." "What day?" "The day when my nightmares became real." "Yeah, I know exactly what that stands for. Hmm." "What?!" "This weird that our possible future kids are here, around 'the' day. I wonder if that has anything to do with it." ________________________ Back at the hotel. Allegro was sleeping rather soundly, holding on her wand tightly. Summer was sleeping on the other bed. Summer suddenly woke up with a feeling that something is wrong. She got out of bed and started to shake Allegro. "Allegro! Get up!" She insisted. "Why? I don't want to get up!" Allegro said half-awake. "Too bad. There is definitely something wrong, Allegro. I can feel it. Also we are out of Ice." "Go get some ice. And come back then." "And leave my best friend to be kidnapped, I don't think so. Also I'm too scared to go alone." "Summer, this is an expensive hotel with high security features. There is really no reason to worry about anything bad happening." "Yeah, I would go alone now. But I don't know where the machine is." "Fine! I'll go with you.'' Allegro said getting out of bed. The two girls walked out the room and headed to the ice machine down the hall. Summer started to fill the bucket with ice as a cola from the nearby drink machine rolled towards Allegro. Allegro picked it up and looked at it for a while. "Hey, Summer. Did get a cola before you started to get the ice?" "No! Why would I get a cola at four in the morning?" "No reason." Allegro said dropping the cola in the trash. "Okay, I've got the ice. Let's go back to the room." The two girls walked back in the room and started to watch tv. "Allegro, what was thing about the cola for?" Summer asked. "I just found a can of cola out and I was wondering if it was yours. And as soon as I realized it wasn't yours, I threw it away." "That's creepy, who would pay money for a cola and just leave it there. It's just a waste of perfectly good cola." "I don't know. A bunch of teenage boys?" "It's a school night though in this time period." "Well, I don't know who did that then." "Yeah. Hey, Allegro. Do you know why we got out of school three weeks early, back home?" "Didn't we have no snow days, and started one week earlier than other schools?" "Oh, yeah we did. It has just been such a long time that I didn't remember that." "Yeah, it was." Allegro said falling back to sleep. "Allegro, you can back to sleep. I'm staying up to try to figure out what's wrong." "No! I want to stay up as well. I think your fear of something happening has spread to me." "As you told me, there is nothing to worry about. There are many security features in this hotel. Go back to sleep." "Okay, Goodnight." Allegro drowsily went back to bed, and put the covers over her head as she went back to sleep. Summer continued to watch T.V. for a while until she got bored. She turned off the T.V. and took out her hot pink diary with rosettes all over it. She started write with her pink pen. Dear Diary, Things have been weird since school got out Tuesday. At first Allegro said that she couldn't come over for a sleepover because her parents were going on a business trip. I didn't notice at first, but she said that with a panic look in her eyes. I know what that means now, but earlier I had no idea what was going on. Next thing I knew was that she texted me saying she was going to the past until Monday, early morning and not to tell Twyla. I was in shock, why would she do that? Along those lines why did she say not to tell Twyla? We have been inseparable since preschool, so why would she say not to tell her other best friend? I had to know why so now I'm in the past as well. I found why she did it, it was because someone who harmed her mother is after her and Allegro didn't feel safe home alone. I felt sorry for her, my mom has told me what happened to Adagio, and just the knowledge that Allegro could end up like that makes me sick. Nothing bad has happened yet, but it helps that Allegro picked the hotel with the best security. But for some reason I have a feeling that something bad is coming, I hope nothing goes bad. Thank you for listening, Summer. > Putting the Pieces Together > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Okay, calm down. Everything is going to work out, just don't think of them. Think of the dance routine I performed at nationals, dancing always calms me down." Allegro thought to herself. She started to go through the dance steps from her first place winning dance, including twirls, leaps and emotion. She had started dance when she was three and she was natural from the very beginning. Allegro liked the feeling of being in her own little world when she danced. But this time dancing didn't help with her stress, instead it made her more stressed. She continued dance anyway, still trying to calm down. Summer woke up from one of the beds and watched her friend dance for a little bit. Summer herself was a gymnast, not the best one, but she understood why Allegro liked to dance to calm down. Allegro finally stopped in the ending pose of the dance and slowly put her hands back to her sides. "You know you did better than you did at nationals." Summer said to break the silence. "You really believe that?" "Of course. You are like the most amazing dancer I know." "I wasn't really even trying." "That's the thing about you, Allegro. You do well when you aren't even trying." "Thanks." "No problem. Do you want to get something eat?" "Sure. But what about Ruby and......." "Forget about them! They aren't anywhere near us, so there is no reason to worry about them." "Okay. Whatever you say." ___________________________ "Okay, let's see." Adagio said to herself while reading articles on time travel on her laptop. "Time travel, is very complex topic and should be really hard to complete. So far no successful prototypes have been built. But scientists are working on it right at this moment and is having really good progress thanks to more scientists starting figure out how it works, so more people are joining to help figure it out. No information is to be shared yet, because at the moment it hasn't been proven. At this rate it looks like time travel won't be completed until around the year 2028. Okay, this is all useful information." Adagio closed out of the article and logged in to her video chat account. She invited Sunset and Twilight and wait for them to join the chat. "Hey, guys I found information about time travel." "That's good, Dagi." Sunset replied. "I was actually trying to figure out how time travel works, when I was ten. But I gave up because it was way too complicated, even for me." Twilight replied. "I remember that like it was yesterday. You two should've seen how frustrated she was." Spike interrupted. "Yeah, I bet that was frustrating. Trying to work on something that scientists haven't figured out, yet." Sunset replied. "When I was looking at the article, it said that the estimated time for time travel to be completed is 2028." Adagio continued. "Depending by that time, we probably would be married and maybe having kids. So it is very possible that the two girls could be in fact, from the future. Has any information or successful prototypes been revealed yet?" Twilight asked. "No, none of the information of how it might work has been proven and there is no successful prototypes. Sunset, has Equestrian Twilight said anything about any possible spells in Equestria for time travel?" "Actually, she said there is a spell from Starswirl the Bearded for time travel. A unicorn named Starlight Glimmer, used it to try to mess up the timeline, and it had disastrous effects. Even Twilight used it to tell to herself not to worry about something, but at that time it could only have her be in the past for ten seconds so she didn't get to say it completely and her past self was worrying about some disaster that wasn't going to happen. From those experiences she that it really isn't a good idea to mess with with the past." Sunset replied. "Okay, thank you for that, Sunset. That is weird if time travel can totally mess up both the future and the past, then why would my daughter and your daughter use time travel if they knew that it could have disastrous effects to the timeline." "Didn't your daughter say that she is in trouble, in your dream?" Twilight asked. "Yeah, she did say that! I bet Ruby has something to do with it." "Yeah, but isn't Ruby in jail for 30 years? That totally doesn't line up with the timeline. She wouldn't get out until 2044." Sunset added. "Yeah, but remember that Ruby is a killer manipulator. I bet she acted good for a while and eventually manipulated someone to get her out." "That totally makes sense." Twilight added. "Okay, we all know exactly how this works. The only thing missing is one name and ties to Equestria." Adagio replied happily. "All right, but there is no way we can prove that stuff yet." Sunset added. "Yes, there is. I bet they probably went to go get food since it's around five so we'll go get food as well." "Um, but where would they go to eat?" Twilight asked. "Simple, Italian food. No one can resist Italian food in my family, and if Allegro is my future daughter, you bet she is probably going to the most famous Italian restaurant in town. And if the other girl is her best friend she is probably going too." "Okay, so we'll meet at the restaurant in a little bit, then? Okay see you guys there!" Sunset said logging off. "Bye!" Twilight said logging off as well. Adagio finally logged off, Grabbed her jacket, and headed out the door of her room. "Mom, Dad, I'm leaving to go eat with my friends at a restaurant! I'll be home later!" Adagio yelled down the hallway running to the front door. "Okay, have fun!" Her mother yelled back. Adagio finally ran out the front door. > Cover Me! > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Allegro and Summer looked at their kids menus, as they sat and waited for the waitress. "Summer did we have to get the kid menus?" Allegro asked. "Yes! They cost less!" Summer replied. "You know I have a ton of money right?!" "Yeah, but don't you want to spend less money on food?" "Fine! Whatever! But, you do know they have better food on the adult menus!" "Yes, I do know....." Summer said pausing as she saw Sunset, Adagio, and Sci-Twi walking to a table near by. "Um, Equestria to Summer!" Allegro said trying to get her attention. "Look, it looks like someone is here to spy on us." Summer said pointing at the table where Sunset, Adagio, and Sci-Twi were sitting. "Just, give them a glare and look away." "Really, do you think that is going to work? We literally look like our moms!" "Just go with it, it worked for me at the cafe. Or at least I thought it worked." "Fine," Summer replied while doing what Allegro said to do. "Hello, girls! I'm Clove Spice, your waitress. Can I get anything for you two to drink?" Clove asked after walking up to the booth Allegro and Summer were sitting at. "Sure, I'll have a cola, please," Allegro replied. "I'll have ice tea with lemon," Summer replied. "Okay, and what do you want to eat?" Clove replied. "I'll have the fettuccine alfredo." Allegro replied. "And I'll take mac and cheese." Summer replied. "Okay, I'll go get your food and drinks." Clove replied as she walked back towards the kitchen. Summer looked back to her best friend. "Okay, Allegro. As soon we get our food we are leaving." "I thought I was worried one." "You were worrying about something that is not likely to happen. I'm worrying about something way more serious, and it's called messing up the timeline. Do I have to remind all the trouble that was caused because of time travel?" "Quiet, do not talk about that! That will be an obvious give away!" "Fine, I won't." Allegro put in her earbuds and listened music, and Summer took out her diary, waiting for their drinks and food. __________________________ "Okay, these kids are really good at not giving things away. Smart kids." Sci-Twi said while eating her Alfredo noodles. "Yeah, but to be fair we are a lot like that as well." Sunset replied while eating her spaghetti. "They aren't even looking over here at all." Adagio replied before taking a bite of her cheese ravioli. "So, do you guys think we are going to meet my future kid?" "Twi, don't even joke about that! We already have deal with those two!" "Okay, okay. Wait a second does the one that looks like Sunset have a diary?!" "Oh My Celestia! She does! That probably has all the information that we are missing." Sunset replied almost choking on her food. "Yes, but there is no way that we can get that from her. Not to mention that she probably wrote down everything that is going to happen which will no longer be surprises. You know what, Twilight. You are the one wants to figure this whole thing out." Adagio replied. "Yeah, because I want to make sure this whole time travel thing is actually going to happen." "Um, Twilight. You really need calm down. You're going spill your food." Sunset replied. Adagio's phone started to ring for a little bit. "Hello?" "Listen, I can tell you everything!" "Who is this?" "My name is Twyla Moonlight! I'm best friends with the two girls you are suspicious of." "Twyla, you are so dead when mom and dad find out!" A voice in the background said. "Periwinkle Starburst! Shut up! I'm doing something!" "Um, guys some girl is on the phone. " "What's her name?" Sci-Twi asked. "Twyla Moonlight, and she says that knows everything about the two girls." "Ask her questions!" "Sure, thing! Except she hung up on me." "Call her back!" Adagio checked the caller ID and it said Payphone #164. "She called from a payphone." "Well that ruins everything!" "Um, guys. While Twyla called the other two left." Sunset said pointing at the empty booth. "She was covering for them, because she did say that she was best friends with them and there is a payphone outside." Adagio realized. "Wait, we didn't lose them completely. The redhead left her diary behind." Sci-Twi said picking up the diary. __________________________________- "Okay, Twyla. You are a lifesaver!" Summer said to the girl next to her. Twyla had lavender skin, purple eyes, Indigo hair with purple and blue highlights in a ponytail with a bow. She had on purple glasses, a light blue shirt, a plaid skirt, and black flats. Her little sister, Periwinkle had a similar skin tone to her sister, with lighter purple eyes, and periwinkle hair with really dark magenta highlights in pigtails. She wore a white button up shirt, underneath a dark magenta sweater, a black skirt, white socks, and black flats. "No problem. Now I need some explaining from both you. First of Allegro why was your door to your house unlocked?" "What?! The door to my house is unlocked?! I'm pretty sure that I locked it." "Well, it was unlocked when Peri and I came over to your house. That's when we went in and I saw your fake note excuse with the truth in invisible ink. By the way, why did you use me and Peri as an excuse?" "It was the first thing I could think of. As for the door being unlocked, someone must have broke in. Was anything stolen or broken?" "No, it was just really messy. Like in your basement there was movies all over the leather couch and the TV was on. It was on some action show I don't know the name off." "That's weird! I'm pretty sure that I didn't get any movies out or watch an action show in my basement. Did you ask my cousin if she did it?" "Yeah! And Infinity said that she wasn't anywhere near your house." "Okay, that's weird." "Yeah, it's weird that they didn't steal anything." Periwinkle said tugging on her pigtails. "Okay, second. Why didn't you tell me about the wand?" Twyla asked. "Look, when I got it I was dealing with stress. Anymore questions?" "Yeah! Why is Ruby going after you? I thought she lost and she should just admit that she will die." "Everyone thought that. But Ruby is not the type of person to give up easily." "Can we please go to the hotel already? I'm tired!" Periwinkle complained. "Fine. Let's go!" Allegro replied as the four of them started to walk towards the hotel. A look of panic crossed Summer's face as she realized her backpack was lighter than usual. She quickly searched the backpack making sure she had everything. As she expected something was missing, her diary. "No! No! No! It has to be here! It would be disastrous if anyone got it!" Summer said in her head. "Is everything okay, Summer?" Allegro asked. "Couldn't be better!" Summer replied as she zipped up her backpack with a fake smile on her face. "Okay?" Summer continued to have the fake smile on her face. "It's okay, Summer. This could all be a figment of my imagination and my diary is still in my front pocket. But it most likely it isn't, just hope it is. I'm so dead if it's in my mom's hands." Summer thought to herself. > The Truth is Leaked > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Alright, it to finally see what those three girls were hiding." Sci-Twi said laying the diary on her bed. "Technically it's four but let's get on with reading this thing. Sunset do you want to read it, since it belongs to your kid in question?" Adagio replied. "Alright, let's do this." Sunset said opening up the diary. She started to skim the first page of the diary. You are holding the property of Summer Starlight. If you are not her then stop reading NOW!!! Thank You for your cooperation! "Um, the girl that looks like me is named Summer Starlight." "That name is really close to...." "We know!" Sunset and Adagio said at the same time. If you have made it this far you must be me, if you are not GET OUT! Signed Summer "I guess she really doesn't like snooping. Okay now we are getting somewhere." Sunset said turning the page. "Dear Diary, Wait why am I writing to you yet, when I haven't introduced myself. My name is Summer Starlight and I'm eleven years old, just call me Summer though. I have been in Competitive Gymnastics since I was six, and I have a lot of bronze and silver medals. I haven't won first yet, but coach keeps telling me it's the technique that gets me every time. If you want to see a champion, you should know about my best friend, Allegro Flare. She is a National winning soloist dancer for three years in a row. Even before that she was in second place, which is weird because she has amazing technique, while mine isn't that strong. She also has great facial expressions as well while she does it. But, that's not it. She is also is great at singing and drawing. Twyla Moonlight is my other best friend, while Allegro is really talented, Twyla isn't really the athletic type. She is more of the super smart kid, who gets good grades. What makes things even more weird is that all of our moms have been best friends the beginning of Junior year in high school. I have more friends, but I'll talk about them later. Signed, Summer." "Okay, that gave us some information. The fact that her two best friends' moms have been best friends since Junior year is a pretty obvious sign." Adagio replied. "Keep reading! Sunset!" "Okay. Dear Diary, Okay I did promise you to talk about my other friends, but I need to talk about my family first. My father owns his own Music Shop, and is a retired singer. He'll sometimes play cards with me when my Mom is busy at work. She is a writer and as I said before is usually busy. That's all I want to talk about my parents, for now. I also have younger siblings, who are named Daylight May and Ash Sky. They are twins and they were recently born last May. They don't really do much besides making more messes for me and my parents. Now finally here are some of my other friends. First there is Misty Rainboom, and she is like the most sporty person I know. She gave Allegro a concussion the last time we went on vacation, by kicking a soccer ball that happened to hit Allegro's head. After that, every time she gave someone an injury, we always say Misty ruins everything. She really doesn't have a problem with that though. Carmella Crisp Apple is next, she is country fashionista who loves horses and doing other people's hair. She is really honest and loves expressing her opinion. Then there is Infinity Spark, she more of the extreme sports person. She loves riding motorcycles, skateboards, you name it. She also likes performing insane stunts on whatever she is riding. Poppy Garden, is the most kind and sweetest person I ever met. Although, if you interrupt her during meditation, she can get mad easily. Cherry Pie, is this the most hyper and playful of my friends. Symphony Dream, is more of the playful dumb one. And Clarity is the ultimate fashionista, and loves makeup. Okay, I told you about my friends. Signed, Summer." "Okay, Summer has a lot of friends that sound an awful lot like our friends." Adagio replied. "Yeah, I think that's enough to prove that they are from the future."Sci-Twi said. "No, it's not. Summer still didn't write anything Equestrian related." "Okay, just skim through it and tell us if you find anything." Adagio insisted. "Okay!" Sunset began to skim through all the pages, until she reached one of the more recent pages. Dear Diary, Presto has been picking on me again, but this time it crushed my heart. Today was Allegro's twelfth birthday, and at first it seemed like a good day. It was another boring Monday at school, and we a ton of homework as usual. But, of course Allegro brought birthday treats. They were really expensive cupcakes from the Cakes Cafe. When she handed them out, she gave me and Twyla the first and best ones. Also she gave Presto the last and worst one. That's when everything went down fast. After school, Presto asked Allegro why she had the worst cupcake. Allegro said because she is mean to her, Twyla, and me. Presto got really mad started and blurting out bad things about our parents. The one that hit me hard, is she said something about my Mom turned into a she demon at a fall formal. That made me start to cry. Allegro told her to back off or she would hire a lawyer. Presto finally stomped home. Allegro said, she was sorry that Presto treated me like that. That helped me recover fast. I'm just glad that Allegro was there for me. Hopefully, tomorrow is better. Signed, Summer. "That proves it. She is your future daughter. Sunset, are you okay?" Sci-Twi said. "She gets made fun of because of my stupid decision." "No, she doesn't. It was Presto trying to blackmail Allegro into giving her a better cupcake." Adagio replied. "But, Presto used me as Blackmail! Why did I put on that stupid crown?!" "You were a different person back then, and you were obsessed with power. Just like how the Siren that controlled me and Ruby was obsessed with power. And it didn't end well for anyone. I thought you got over what happened that year." "I thought I did too, until I figured out my kid will get blackmailed for it." "Sunset, calm down. Summer wrote down that Allegro cheered her up." Sci- Twi stated. "Thank goodness. I do not want to deal with that incident again." "We know!" _______________________________ "i know I had my diary in my backpack. Where is it?!" Summer said in a worried tone. "Nice going, Summer. We are totally dead now." Periwinkle replied. "Twyla! Can you please get your sister to shut up?!" "No, Summer. Half the time she doesn't listen to me." "Twyla, can you please take your sister back to your hotel room? Tomorrow we can sleep in, before leaving for lunch tomorrow." Allegro interrupted. "Okay, see you guys tomorrow." Twyla replied leaving with Periwinkle. "Allegro, you know this is serious right? I can't believe I left it in that restaurant." "I know, I know! Just calm down. We'll go back for it tomorrow." "It might be gone by then." "Summer, it's 10 O'clock. The restaurant is closed. We can't do anything about it." "Okay. Can you hand me the hotel note pad?" "Sure." Allegro replied giving her the note pad. "Thanks!" Summer started to write down some words on it. 10pm, Day 5. 26 more hours until we are home safe. Signed, Summer. > A Rude Awakening > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Allegro and Summer were fast asleep. Summer's hair was covered her entire face after taking it out her ponytail the night before. Allegro was holding on tight to her wand. In the middle of their slumber, the phone started to ring. "Allegro, go get the phone!" "No! I want to sleep, you already woke me up early yesterday! "It's 6 am, Allegro." "It's still too early for me!" "Fine, I'll answer it. Hello?" "Hi, this call was pre recorded to remind you that check out is at noon tomorrow. We hope you enjoyed your stay here and you come back soon. If you would like to hear the message again press one. If you want to talk to someone at the desk about this press two. If you want to hang up press three." The recording said as Summer hanged up. "Um, Allegro? We have to checkout tomorrow at noon." "WHAT?!" "I just said you have to checkout at noon tomorrow." "NO! NO! It can't be that time." "Why are you so picky on the time?" "Ruby and Mezzo can still get me! I need to stay here at midnight to be a hundred percent sure that I won't be harmed." "Ruby and Mezzo are still in the future, they can't get to you even if they wanted to. Also doesn't your family have a restraining order?" "Yes my family does have a restraining order. But, Ruby is still out for revenge and a restraining order isn't going to stop her. As for Ruby and Mezzo "not" being in this time period. Hello? We live in a time period where time travel is possible!" "Yeah, but there is no way they know exactly where you are at all times." "You've got a point." "Good. Now, in a couple hours, we are going to get Twyla and Periwinkle, and we are going to ask nicely if they would let us stay here until midnight tomorrow." __________________________________ At 9 AM that day Allegro, Summer, Twyla and Periwinkle head down to front desk and ring the service bell. Sunny Flare is seen walk up to the desk with an annoyed look on her face. "Allegro, if you want something call for room service. You don't need to bother...." Sunny said. "That's not why I'm down here." "Okay, then why are you down here." "I need my checkout time to be changed to midnight." "I'm sorry, but I can't change the checkout time." "What?! Why?" "It's the hotel's policy. We can't break it. The policy states that all checkout times are at noon. I can let you stay another day, since you have more money, but the checkout is still at noon." "No! I can't do that either." "Well, I'm sorry. I can't do anything else to help you." "It's okay. Thanks anyway!" The four girls walked out of the hotel and headed downtown. "Um, Allegro. If you're so worried about being harmed why didn't you stay another day?" Twyla asked. "I couldn't do that. My mom will be home from her business trip in Europe, early Monday morning. And if she finds out I used time travel, I'm so dead!" "Couldn't you just time travel to earlier that day?" "Wow, you don't pay attention to how time travel works, Twyla. It's pretty obvious that you can only time travel to the same day and time, but you can go to any year. I thought you would be the person to pay attention during science class." Summer replied. "I was sick the day, when we talked about time travel. I don't get how you could forget that." "But, didn't you copy my notes? Also you got an A on the test over it." "Yes, I did. As for the A on my test, I had to study a week for that test." "Wow, I guess you also don't remember how magic works in other time periods?" "That I remember, because my mom taught it to me. How it works is it the magic remains in effect even if you are in different time period. Example, Ruby can still get Allegro even if she is the past, as long as it is before midnight on Sunday." "And that goes hand in hand with how time travel works." "Okay, can you guys stop?! Thank you for putting more importance on this issue then there needs to be. Now let's go hang out at an awesome restaurant." Allegro interrupted her friends' fight. "We still need to grab my journal!" Summer told her. "Okay, Summer. We will make sure to grab your journal." _______________________________________ Back at Adagio's house, she is still sleeping with her comforter over her head. Out of nowhere, a knock is heard at her bedroom door. "Hey, Adagio! We need to get going. It's 9 AM." Sunset says from outside her door. "Let me sleep for ten more minutes." Adagio replied half awake. "You said that an hour ago when we first got here." Sci-Twi added. "Yeah, well we aren't in a hurry." Adagio added still half awake. "Adagio, we really want to get going to figure this out. Who knows where they are now?" Sunset insisted. "Fine!" Adagio replied getting out of bed. Sunset and Sci-Twi waited for Adagio for another ten minutes. She finally came out wearing a plain purple shirt, a lavender skirt with multiple prints of her cutie mark, purple converse, and the same necklace gold topaz necklace she wore the day before. "Okay, I'm ready let's go." > The Wind Picks Up > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "What do you mean it isn't here?!" Summer asked the waitress from the restaurant they ate at the night before. "I'm sorry but there was no diary in booth 10. If there was, the janitor would've found it last night when he was cleaning." She replied. "My friend is pretty sure that she left it here." Allegro stated. "Well, it isn't here. I'm sorry girls." "It's okay, thank you mam." Allegro replied as she left with the others. "This is bad! Someone took it! And now they know stuff that is going to happen!" Summer panicked. "Calm down, Summer. The person who might've taken it, could have no connection to you whatsoever." Twyla stated. "Hey, Summer! We found your diary!" Sunset yelled, while running toward them with Sci-Twi and Adagio. "Forget what I said about you having no connection to the person who found your diary." "Um, guys. I think we should run like now," Allegro interrupted as the four started to run away in the opposite direction. "Come back, we just want to give you back your diary." Sunset said as she started to run after them. But it was too late, the girls were already gone by the time she reached the corner. "What, they were literally just here?!" "They probably ran off in another direction. Like any scared kid would." Sci-Twi replied. "We need to give them back the diary. Based off what Summer recently wrote, things aren't looking good for Allegro." "What do you mean?" Adagio asked. "I mean that Allegro is in danger of becoming the monster you once were. Ruby is after her." Adagio's face quickly faded to a look of concern. "She actually is? No, Allegro can't end up that way. We can't let that happen." ______________________________________________ "I can't believe we got away that fast." Summer stated. "Yeah, especially because I'm awful at running." Twyla replied. "I don't think you should celebrate too soon, guys." Allegro said. "Why? What's wrong?" Summer replied. "Look who's here." Allegro said pointing at Mezzo standing not far behind. "Thank you, for leading me to Allegro. Unfortunately this won't end well for any of you." Mezzo stated. "Oh, really? You think I'm gonna let you catch me that easily? In your dreams!" Allegro replied blasting Mezzo in the face with a beam of light from her wand. Her and her friends quickly ran away as Mezzo got back up from the blow to her head. "Okay, remember what I said about 'not' worrying about them?" Summer asked. "Yeah?" Allegro replied. "Now you should start worrying." "What do you think I've been doing for the last minute?" "I don't get how Mezzo knew exactly knew where we were at the exact time." Twyla interrupted. "That stupid excuse note! She must've broke into my house and saw the note!" "Well, then why did you write that note when you knew that Mezzo could use it against you?" "Give me a break! I was stressed out and wasn't thinking clearly when I was writing it! Please stop blaming this on me!" Allegro replied starting to burst into tears. "OKAY! OKAY! I don't blame you for doing that, but what is the plan to keep Mezzo away from you? "Are you just going to keep on running away until midnight tomorrow?" Periwinkle asked sarcastically. "No, I have a better idea." Allegro replied as she gave a smirk and took out her wand. "No! No! And no! Equestrian Magic is not the answer!" Summer interrupted. "Come on! My mom said I can use it if I'm in danger, and I'm in danger." "Yeah, but you can't solve everything with magic. Also can't your wand only shoot light beams?" "No, guys there is more things I can do with this. I just need to focus." Allegro replied as she calmed herself and focused. Her wand started to light up, but the color was blue instead on pink. As she continued to focus Summer noticed that white flakes of snow fell from the already cloudy day. She pointed it out to Twyla and Periwinkle who were just as confused as her. The wind started to blow getting significantly colder as more snow fell. "Allegro! You made it snow?!" "Huh?" Allegro replied completely oblivious to what she just did. "You caused it to snow in May!!!" ________________________________ A little later Adagio, Sunset, and Sci-Twi are seen leaving the cafe, realizing that there is chill in the air and is also snowing. "It's snowing in May?! That's nearly impossible. It hasn't snowed in May since 1988." Sci-Twi said starting to freak out. Sunset picked up a handful of snow and started to look at it. "Well it's one of the possible times, Twilight. But I don't get how it snowed this fast, especially because it was above freezing temperature. If anything there should be ice before it snows." "There is ice, Sunset." Adagio replied as some car were getting into crashes on the black ice. "Okay, Adagio please tell me that won't get too bad." Sci-Twi asked. "Why should I know anything about cold weather?" "You used to live in Crystal Empire and Sunset said it's cold in that area." "Okay, first there is a magical barrier around it so it's always good temperature and also I haven't lived there since I was twelve." "Oh. I should've known that." "Yeah. I think the cold is getting to you." Out of the corner of her eye Adagio saw her Dad's black suburban drive up to them. Her dad rolled down the window revealing a guy with indigo eyes, and similar hair and skin colors to Adagio. "Adagio, what are doing wearing that in 30 degree weather?" "It was 75 degrees when I left the house! So don't blame me! The snow came out of nowhere!" "That's besides the point! I want you and your friends in the car now." "No!" "Adagio, you can't talk to me like that especially with what happened when you were younger." "Can you stop obsessing over what happened to me when I was twelve?!" "That happened in result of you not listening. I told you that it was dangerous today, that there is some sirens on the loose and that you need to stay home! But, did you listen to me, no! You just said, Dad, I'm twelve now. Nothing bad is going to happen to me." "I don't think, I exactly said those words." "Those were your exact words. And guess what happened that day, you went missing. Why did you go missing because the curiousity got the best of......" "I GET THE IDEA!!!!" "Then you should know that all of you need to go home now, so you don't get sick!" "For your information we are young adults and we can easily take care of ourselves." "Um, Dagi. I won't be eighteen until May 31st." Sunset whispered. "Make that two of us are young adults." "Well, you can use that excuse all you want when you're 21." He replied. "I doubt that's going to work." "What do you mean?" "What I'm saying is you are way too attached to me and most likely that excuse isn't going to work." "Well you can thank that incident for that. Now get in the car." "Fine, whatever. Have it your way." > On Thin Ice > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Look, dad! I’m serious! It was 75 degrees outside this morning I had no idea that it was going to snow. If I knew that it was going to snow I would’ve worn winter clothes.” Adagio yelled. “That’s besides the point. You know I don’t want anything else to happen to you, after the incident.” Her father responded. “Dad, I was twelve years old, and I told you a million times she attacked me!” “Really, Adagio? You told us last year that she gave you the pendant and you put it on.” Sunset pointed out. “I didn’t exactly remember how the incident happened, when I told you and the others that.” “Okay, that makes sense.” “Also, I’m eighteen now. I can watch out for myself way better. Plus I have Flame, Sunset, Twilight, and all my other friends as well.” “Look, I just want my little girl to be safe. Is there anything wrong with that?” “No, but you are way too obsessive and I’m not a little girl anymore.” Monet was about to speak, as the doorbell rang. “Wow, I wonder who that could be? I should get the door.” Adagio announced sarcastically as she reached for the door to find Flame standing at the door. “Hello, Monet. I heard you and Adagio are at it again.” “Flame, she called you didn’t she.” “No, Sunset did it this time. Anyways I think you guys need some space so I’m going to hang out with Adagio in town. Have a good night.” Flame announced as Adagio and him left the door into the front porch covered in snow. “Thanks for bailing me out of that. He annoys me so much.” “I know, Adagio. We were friends since we were eight and nine. I’m one the few people who know you well enough to tell you’re annoyed by him.” “And there he goes at it again with his ranting. I feel bad we left Sunset and Twilight in there.” Adagio added as she looked through the frost covered windows. “They get out of there after five minutes of his ranting. So Cake’s Cafe or do you want to go somewhere else?” “Cake’s Cafe is fine.” “Okay, let’s go.” ________________________ “Curse Allegro and this stupid snow! Forget Allegro, curse my mom! I could be at my dad’s house right now watching TV. Do I get to? No, I have to finish my mom’s stupid work and turn Allegro into a siren. And now it just so happens to snow in May which makes this worse. What’s next world?!” Mezzo yelled as she slipped on the ice in shock to another burst of light next to her. “Mezzo, I know you didn’t do it yet. Remember what I said if you didn’t do it?” Ruby ranted. “I’m trying, but she has a group friends with her.” “Adagio had friends with her, and I took her down.” “Yes, but she is super agile and fast. Not to mention she blasted me in the face with her wand.” “Stop, complaining and go after her! We only have two days left!” “Make me!” “Fine.” Ruby responded as she grabbed Mezzo’s arm. _________________________ “Allegro! Are you okay? You have been in here for a hour.” Summer asked in the girl’s restroom at the Cake’s cafe. “No, I’m not. I have the worst headache, I’m in pain, my wand is still glowing blue, and I’m stressed!” Allegro responded splashing water on her face. “Allegro, you need to calm down. Everything is getting to you.” “Summer leave me alone!” “No. I’m your friend, and I will be here for you just like you are always for Twyla and I.” “Summer, I said back off!” Allegro screamed at her friend as her eyes started to glow red. “Okay, we’ll be at the hotel if you need us. Don’t get caught.” Summer said as she left the room. Allegro continued to splash water on her face as the red faded away. “What’s wrong with me? I’m not a monster, I will never be a monster. So stop trying!” Allegro said to herself sounding stressed and determined. She splashed her face again only to find small amounts of ice in the water. Before she could say anything she heard someone opening the door, she quickly ran into one of the stalls. Shortly after that seven familiar girls entered the room as they seemed to want to talk in private. “Do any of you all, know what the hey going on with Twilight, Sunset, and Adagio?” “Applejack? If that’s her then the others must be ... “ Allegro thought as she was interrupted. “Actually, Applejack I have no idea what’s up with my adoptive older sister. And I’m not the person to ask, as she lives with her parents not with me and Sonata.” Aria said in response. “Look, I just wanted to ask as all three of them seem to be acting weird.” “Acting weird?” Allegro thought. “I didn’t see anything clearly off about them.” Rainbow Dash replied. “Well Rainbow, Adagio hasn’t been making eye contact with almost everyone.” Rarity protested. “No, that’s normal. Adagio does that all the time around her dad.” Sonata responded. “Sonata Darling. Adagio doesn’t have great relationship with her dad. Adagio is now doing it to people who are friends of hers. Aria is it normal for her not to make eye contact?” “It depends on who, and her mood at the time. When she’s either angry, frustrated, confused, tired, worried or sad it is common for her to do that. Honestly, I think she is worried about something and she is hiding it, as she seems to perfectly happy around Flame instead of looking worried.” “Worried? Is she worried about me? Does she know that Ruby is after me? I miss her. I want mom and dad. I want to go home.” Allegro thought to herself as she actually started cry as sat on the floor. Fluttershy noticed the crying from the 2nd stall from the door as she tried to get the attention of the others. “Um, I think we aren’t alone, and she sounds sad. Maybe we should cheer her up.” “You are right darling. She sounds like she needs it.” “I’ll help. Making people smile is my speciality.” Pinkie added. “Don’t scare the poor kid. Maybe she wants to be left alone.” Rainbow protested. “Um, I’m sorry to interrupt your sadness, but are you okay?” Fluttershy asked. “I’m fine, please just leave me alone.” Allegro responded as she still had tears in her eyes. “Are you sure darling? Maybe you should come out here and talk about your issues. We are really good making others feel better.” Rarity asked. “I don’t want to talk about my issues. Every time I talk about them to anyone, it never helps. It may work for a second, but it never lasts.” “I don’t suppose those people who you tell are your parents?” Applejack asked. “No, I’m too scared to tell them. And for your information, maybe you shouldn’t be snooping in other people’s business. I said leave me alone, so I want you to leave me alone!!” Allegro said as she went from sad to mad in what felt like a heartbeat, returning with the anger was the glowing red eyes. “No, not again!” Allegro thought as they went back to her normal eye color. “Okay, kid. Chill out, we’re leaving.” Aria responded to Allegro’s outburst as she and the others left the bathroom. As soon as she heard the door shut, she ran out the stall and looked at the mirror to notice her tired irritated eyes and tears still falling down her cheeks. “Maybe I should head back to the hotel. One more day, Alle. You can handle one more day.” Allegro said to herself as she put up her hood and left the bathroom.
