Sonic the Hedgehog is the fastest thing alive until he gets a sister that's faster than him?
Sonic the Hedgehog is the fastest thing alive and is living peacefully on Mobius. His peace isn't to last as he receives a gift from the heavens in the form of a blue pony with wings and a rainbow mane and tail. Will he be able to keep her safe from Dr. Eggman?
This is my attempt at a PWNY-verse-ish fic. Since Tatsurou (whose stories are wonderful and you should check them out) already did a Rainbow Dash fic, I felt it was safe to attempt this. I know it's cliche to put Rainbow and Sonic together, but in my opinion, that's why it works.
Sonic the hedgehog, a blue hedgehog that stood on two legs was speeding through the fields of Mobius, enjoying himself immensely as he ran. Despite the exercise, he was rather chubby and short. But this was to be expected, since he was only around five years old. Despite this, he was faster than anyone he knew.
During his run, a ball of light, like a meteor, was heading right for him, but instead of plowing into him at deadly speeds,the light turned into a strange creature and Sonic was bowled over, with the creature on top of him. It looked like a pony, but it had wings, was blue, and its mane and tail was a rainbow of colors. On its flank was a cloud with a rainbow lightning bolt shooting out. Instead of crying from the impact, the filly was laughing.
Gently pushing the filly off of him, Sonic got up and looked over himself and her for injuries. Finding none, he smiled. "That was a close one. I'm glad you're okay, though. Do you have a name?"
The filly looked up at him with wide eyes before smiling. "Rai'bow Dash!" She exclaimed in excitement. Sonic carefully picked Rainbow up.
"Rainbow Dash, huh? Come on, I want to introduce you to my friends." With that said, Sonic sped off to Knothole.
Over the years, Sonic and Rainbow played and grew up together, getting into a lot of trouble. That is, until one day, Dr. Eggman attacked.
It was a day like any other, but suddenly, whole cities were taken over by SWATBots and other Egg robots, and the inhabitants mysteriously disappeared. Sonic and Rainbow decided to investigate, and discovered that Eggman was using a machine to turn the Mobians into robots and using them to attack other cities. With this intel, Sonic and Rainbow returned to Knothole to inform Sally and form a plan of attack.
It was decided that they'd do their best to return the citizens to normal. Sonic was tasked with distracting Eggman while Rainbow was tasked with gathering the Mobians-turned-robots. Sally would operate the controls while Eggman was distracted. If this worked, everyone would be freed. With this in mind, the group split up to do their tasks.
It took several days, and many near-misses, but they eventually managed to complete the mission. Once everyone was back oi normal, Rainbow and Sonic destroyed the Roboticizer, so it couldn't be used by anyone else, causing Eggman to flee. Little did Sonic and Rainbow know, this would only be the first in many adventures.
It's been several years since Eggman's first attack, and Sonic and Rainbow were now teenagers. Sonic had greatly leaned up, and was much taller, at 4 feet. Rainbow,as well, had gained lean muscle and height. She could now support Sonic if he needed to ride her. All was currently peaceful in Mobius, however, this wasn't to last. Word had been spreading that the woodland animals were being captured and the very landscape itself was being altered.
Not ones to let things go, Sonic and Rainbow decided to investigate. Leaving Knothole, a wooded area in the heart of Mobius, the two, who considered each other siblings, arrived at the start of the changes, where they found that the landscape was indeed changed. Gone were the sloping hills. In their place were raised landscapes and bridges. Looking at each other, they both nodded and took off, destroying all the robots they could find.
"So, it seems the reports were right!" Rainbow exclaimed as she destroyed a fish robot.
"Yeah. Guess Eggman doesn't give up that easily." Sonic agreed as they sped through the course, destroying robots as they went. "Keep your guard up, Sis. We don't know what he'll try." As Sonic spun through the lower path, Rainbow took the upper path, flying over the obstruction. They met up again further on, and noticed a giant ring floating in the air. Shrugging their shoulders, they jumped in.
Inside, they found av strange maze that spun on its own. Some of the blocks that made up the walls repelled them, some sped up the spinning, and the dead ends had flashing blocks that had goal written on them. Partway through, the way they came was blocked off, and they saw multi-colored blocks that changed color or disappeared when struck. Striking enough of them opened the way to a gen they would later learn was called a Chaos Emerald, and there were currently only six of them known to exist, there there were rumors of a seventh.
A few minutes after entering, they emerged with the Chaos Emerald. "That must have been a Special Zone! There must be others further ahead!" They sped on through more obstacles and robots. This time, they also found spikes. Being careful, they maneuvered their way through to the next ring, emerging with another Chaos Emerald.
"Do you think Eggman had these?" Rainbow asked. "I mean, that seems like his style." Sonic nods in agreement as they speed along, destroying more robots as they go. It took them a while, going across swinging platforms and around and through walls, but they eventually reached a place with two floating platforms that sagged a bit under their weight. "Uh, I wonder what these are for."
It was then that Eggman appeared. "You've been getting in my way for far too long, you pests! It's time to exterminate you!" With that said, his capsule bottom opened and an impossibly large ball dropped out, attached to a chain. Eggman then attacked with it, swinging the chain back and forth while moving between the platforms. Sonic and Rainbow timed their attacks so they avoided the ball on the fore and back swing until, eventually, the Eggmobile fell apart as Eggman escaped. Sonic and Rainbow followed in pursuit, breaking open the capsule in the process.
It wasn't long before the scenery changed, going from lumpy hills to blocks of marble with lava pits. Sonic looked at Rainbow and smirked. "This'll be fun! Wouldn't you say?" Rainbow nods and they got ready to go through the course.
