Sunset and Twilight bicker over a really important matter. Their cartoon OTPs with the same character. Again, it is a really important matter.

Sunset and Twilight happen to enjoy the same cartoon: Steven Universe. Still, they need to discuss a really big matter: their different OTPs with the same character. How terrifying. Once again, Sunset had to admit it was a really important matter.

PLEASE, don’t take this seriously. This was a request by the amazing IJAB, check his art out! And I hope you like it, man! Also: Bickering over ships is… not cool. Let people like what they like.

In which they bicker about OTPs

Sunset Shimmer saw nothing wrong with watching cartoons meant for little kids. Besides, everyone did that. She was still rad even if she did watch cartoons! Her bike, Robert, was proof of that. After all, the cartoons weren’t actually silly and she knew that. For that reason, she would probably say to anyone that said it was silly to watch cartoons to go to hell.

For her luck, Twilight Sparkle wasn’t really one to say anything like that, mainly because she also happened to enjoy watching them. But, Sunset also thought, there was no other cartoon quite like Steven Universe, at least for her. Sunset, as soon as she found out Twilight also liked the show, got excited. Not to say that it was incredibly shocking, but it sure was different. She didn’t know many people in her circle of friends that liked it; and having a girlfriend who did? Sunset sure was lucky she had an adorable dork that also enjoyed a lot of the same stuff she did.

She had discovered it after months of dating her and they decided one day they should totally hang out and watch it. Since there was nothing better to do on this specific afternoon, Sunset decided to do what they had planned months ago and called Twilight to spend some time at her house. It was a fall afternoon and, a chilly wind coming through the open window in Sunset’s living room, and both laid on her couch covered by a blanket, watching ‘The Answer’. They didn’t really need words, they just enjoyed each other's company and the gem cartoon.

Twilight had watched it already, more times than she likely should, but it didn’t matter when one of her favorite couples was in it; made even better by the fact that they were actually a couple in canon.

Twilight sighed happily once the episode was over and relaxed on the couch, making Sunset look at her with questioningly. After the particularly romantic episode, she had a question stuck in her mind. Sunset frowned. “Are you tired? We can stop-”

“No! No, I just… I’m thinking.” Twilight narrowed her eyes and crossed her arms. “So, besides Ruby and Sapphire or Greg and Rose, you have to find other couples great,” She pointed out, and Sunset, seeing where this was going, decided to sit at her side with crossed legs. “So…?” She lifted an eyebrow at the other with curiosity.

Sunset scratched the back of her head, thinking for a moment. “Okay… Wait, tell me yours first, then I’ll tell you mine,” she said and Twilight giggled. “What?”

“It’s just… it looks like we are telling each other our crushes.” she rolled her eyes and Twilight tapped her arm, kidding. “Okay. For my favorite, I’d probably go with Amethyst and-”
“Pearl? Yeah I knew it!” Sunset cut her off, but Twilight frowned.

“What? No! They’re… cool, I guess,” she shrugged, she admitted both characters had a lot of cute interactions on screen, “But my favorite is Amethyst and Peridot!” She exclaimed with a silly smile, “I mean, they’re so good for each other. And Peridot did happen to look like she… saw something in Amethyst! And Peridot saved her! What more do you want? They’re such a cute and great couple,” Twilight cited all her reasons for them being, in her eyes, such a cute couple. Meanwhile, Sunset was staring at her like she’d seen a ghost. That wasn’t right. How could she? Of course, she didn’t know… still, Sunset was… surprised and kind of disappointed to say in the least.

As Twilight began to talk about how cute it was again, Sunset let out a ‘tsk’. “So you like Amedot?” The other nodded at her happily. “Oh…” she chuckled, deciding not to protest this, even if she found it… a very big thing to protest against. But she took a hold of herself.

“And yours?” Twilight questioned suddenly.

“Mine? Oh… I actually have a pairing with Peridot as my favorite too,” Sunset explained, “It may come as a surprise, but I do have reasons for it, okay? As many or more than you have for liking Amethyst and her together,” she said and Twilight nodded, agreeing. “Well then, I absolutely love Lapis and Peridot together! They- Why the long face?” Sunset stopped once she saw her girlfriend frowning with confusion.

“Uh… Lapidot?”

“Yeah, it’s great, right?” Sunset questioned with a little smile.

“Uh…” Twilight gulped, “Well…” she couldn’t hold her rant anymore. “Look… I’m not saying it’s bad, but… they never interacted! How can you even get into it? Okay, there was that sneek peak… but, still… I don’t get it! Amethyst and Peridot did interact, that’s why I like it. But Lapis and her? They never talked on screen,” she shrugged and Sunset was clearly annoyed by her opinion. How could she?!

Sunset rolled her eyes. “Not everything has to be logical, you know, also there’s a thing called: fanfiction. I’m sorry, but I do waste my free time reading some of them,” she admitted and Twilight held her want to laugh a little, Sunset was very deep into everything, wasn’t she? “Besides, what proof do you have that they NEVER talked off screen?” Sunset lifted her eyebrow, as if she had made the most amazing point ever.

Twilight took a few moments to try to think of a counter argument, but she couldn’t. She still bickered more. “You do have point… Still, I also have one! I don’t think they would get on well. They are… enemies. Lapis was kept prisoner in her ship, you really think she would forgive her? I don’t think so, unless she makes a miracle. Meanwhile, Amethyst and her overcame their past problems and are friends, see? Plus, Peridot actually cares about her,” Twilight winked at Sunset and she groaned. Now, the start of ‘It Could’ve Been Great’ was in Sunset’s TV.

Sunset rolled her eyes at her point. “But Amethyst is a Crystal Gem and Peridot was from Homeworld and you know very well they didn’t go along at first,” she smiled almost proudly.

“But they are friends now, and Peridot cares about her!”

“Well she… Look, Peridot can make Lapis happy! You know, we saw her smile two times? Imagine she being the first one to make her smile in a really big time,” she sighed dreamily like the shipper she was, but Twilight narrowed her eyes leaning to her with a mad frown.

“Amedot still has way more chances of becoming the next Ruby and Sapphire, Sunset,” she argued between her teeth.

“Oh yeah?” Sunset leaned on too, getting face to face with her girlfriend, too close.

“Y-yes,” Twilight hesitated for a moment, but Sunset got totally quiet. “What’s your argument now?”

Sunset didn’t answered, she actually pulled Twilight for a kiss, a very wild kiss. Soon, the bickering was forgotten when both made lovely angry sex about it and, in the end, no one win their battle.

But Sunset wasn’t protesting about the events that followed because of the bickering. But, there in the back of her head, Sunset still knew her OTP was the best, no matter what her adorable girlfriend said. Because purple totally wasn’t good to be mixed with green, blue? Oh yes, blue was and Sunset could totally go with it.
