Chapter 1: Discovery
“Spiiike, bring me the wrench please!” Twilight yelled, a bit tired and irritated after working for days on her newest experiment. After the events of canterlot high, and meeting her own alternate self, twilight was more curious than ever about the magic behind the mirror. Could there perhaps be more alternate worlds? Twilight thinks to herself
“C-coming Twilight!” Spike says, quickly scurrying over to twilight with a wrench, caught a bit off guard as twilight rips it out of his grasp with her magic and quickly tightens a couple screws. Spike then crosses his arms and stares understandingly at twilight “You haven’t slept the past couple days, have you”. Having got twilight’s attention, she sighs, and sets down the wrench, and several other tools she was carrying with her magic.
“Y-yeah, not really! But you know how much this experiment means though spike! If I can modify the magic of the mirror portal, we could in theory use it to go to any alternate world we want! Think of all the possibilities….” Twilight says, staring at herself in the inactive mirror. “You’ve been such a good help to me spike, why don’t you go get some ice cream out of the fridge! You deserve it, number one assistant~”.
Spike’s face flushes a bit, as he quickly starts running towards the castle’s kitchen. “Thanks twilight!” He hollers back, his voice echoing through the halls.
Twilight shakes her head with a grin, and attaches the last few wires to her custom magical power source. “Well, here goes nothing!” And with that, she reaches over and pulls a large red lever with her hooves.
It was a normal day in the city of New York, with everyone going about their business. When suddenly, a massive hole appeared over the ocean; next to the statue of liberty. A massive portal! About twice the size of the Chrysler building. Everyone began to panic a bit, surprised at the massive unexplainable phenomenon. All the news outlets began filming and reporting on the massive rift; their helicopters flying around the massive thing.
“Ah! It worked!” Twilight says happily, walking up to the now shimmering mirror portal. Not knowing what she might find on the other side, she walks up, and briefly sticks one of her hooves through, and pulls it back in quickly; just to be sure there’s nothing toxic on the other side. Eager to see what's on the other side, twilight then pokes her head through the portal; her eyes adjusting to the bright sunlight after being holed up in her lab all day. She’s then shocked and surprised at what she sees. At first, she notices what appear to be small insects swerving to avoid her face; but she quickly rules them out as not insects when she notices the tiny city below her! With tons of unidentified tiny beings standing by the pier, looking up at her face. “O-oh! Umm, hello!” She says with a smile, her voice booming through the city as she greets everyone; waving through the portal with her hoof. For a few moments, Twilight just stares down at everything curiously, before exiting back through the portal, her mind racing. Maybe fluttershy could help! She knows a thing or two about magical creatures after all, Twilight thinks to herself, hurriedly trotting off towards fluttershy’s cottage
Letting out a yawn, spike lies back in his favorite armchair, reading the newest edition of Power Ponies. Feeling lazy and tired from eating too much ice cream, he flops out of his chair, with the empty ice cream tub in hand to throw in the bin. As he passes by the lab, he notices a small shimmering light coming from the portal. Curious, he quickly walks up to where the shimmering originated from, and notices a small silver colored bug had come through the portal. Wanting to make twilight happy, he quickly reaches over with one of his claws, and pinches the bug by the tail; damaging it slightly as he gently places it in a small jar. “Twilight’s gonna love this!” He says, briefly staring at the bug, before setting the jar on the nearest desk. Not thinking much of it, spike then playfully kicks the empty ice cream tub through the portal, enjoying the shimmering lights that the portal makes; before walking back up to his room and plopping down on his bed for a nap.
