Screams of Silence

Silence.

That was all he could hear.

Back in the depths of Tartarus, the hell of which he'd been banished to, Tirek spent his time sitting within the walls of his cage, thinking. Cerberus guarded him, gruff and scornful of the hellish centuar. Tirek never said a single word after his re-banishment to Tartarus, and wondered if his vocal strings could even produce a sound ever again. This wasn't what he had imagined.

The alicorn and her 'friends' were the cause of his dismay and sorrows. All of the ponies in the destructive country of Equestria, if only they could've been more profitable. Yet after sucking out the contents of the entire country, he was still at a tie against the alicorn who contained all of the alicorn magic in Equestria. Not even the draconequus' magic could help him. Tirek cocked his head to one side. The draconequus had a grand amount of magic, with numbers that rivaled even the purple alicorn when she was fully charged. Why hadn't he gained the power and energy he knew the draconequus contained? Then, Tirek scowled as he remembered an important detail. His 'partner' held a unique type of magic. Chaos magic. It never worked the way a creature would expect except for those in control of it. Alas, Discord seemed surprised when he conjured up his scenes of disharmony. Was he even in control of such things? Is any choas magic holder really in control of what they do? How do ponies and magical creatures themselves know that they are really in control of their mag-

Tirek stopped and shaked his head; clearing his thoughts. He reminded himself to not think about such things. In legend, it was said that if a creature was to try to comprehend the chaotic magic of other creatures able to contain it that the creature would go insane. (Due to the fact that they were trying to comprehend chaos, of course.) Although, Tirek guessed that in his situation, he wasn't too safe from losing his sanity.

Instead, Tirek chose to think about how the small, tiny equines defeated him. The magic of friendship certainly seemed to be strong, but what was it comprised of? He knew of the Tree of Harmony's existence after conquering the Equestrian capital, but had never taken the time to investigate the matter. What a foolish oversight. An oversight that cost him a country, slaves, and the destruction and takeover of Equestria. Ah, what a pleasure it would've been. After centuries of living in the Equestrian badlands, the centuars could finally rule the land, with himself as their leader. He'd never truly liked his empire. So loyal to the ponies that bound them to those wretched lands. His mother and father were fools, and still are. They still rule over the empire with 'honor', 'grace', and pettiness. They were weak, just like his brother.

Tirek kicked the ground with one of his hooves, and clenched his hands. Oh, his brother! How he despised him! He had no mercy for his brother, and if Scorpan were to be beside him, Tirek knew he would've strangled him. Cerberus turned one of his heads around, eyeing the centuar suspiciously. He emmited a low, warning growl. Tirek lowered his head, obeying to the primitive beast. If he didn't, he knew that he'd be beaten, as were new orders from the royal court. Tirek was very surprised with the level of voilence within this rule; he'd never expect it from the princesses. Alas, he had a deep feeling inside that it wasn't just them that had made this decision.

The first person he thought of was his father. Oh, may his father be cursed with eternal sadness, for his sons' own woes! He always used to be stern and stand his ground, ordering Tirek around as a child. He banished him from learning black magic, from succumbing to the dark side of the world. Yet here he was, despite his father's attempts, lying at the gates of hell himself. Only a step away from the eternal flames, torture, and pain of the lava-land below. Tirek sighed soundlessly. Was he, Tirek, really the devil himself? Sure, he certainly looked the part, but many others have turned to villany and aren't knee-deep in the pits of hell like he is. Maybe he was simply a greater villan than all of them, and so is why he was sent here. Always and forever staying. Awaiting the bleak years of losing his sanity ahead of him. He looked down at his hands and the blurry reflection of himself on the black, hard, metal ground. Tirek noticed that he looked even more pitiful than when he was first banished here.

At least, back then, there was still hope for his reformation.

Tirek decided that this sort of talk was going to speed up the process of him going insane. So he huffed, turned of another side, just as uncomfortable, and turned to a new page within his head. Tirek sat, trying to think of something positive. But he couldn't think of anything, at least, not anything that pleased him. His brother was innocent and pure, his mother the same, his father respected by his people, the ponies of equestria together, united and strong. Tirek let out another grunt. How long was he going to stay like this? His mind began warping, and Tirek's hands began to shake.

He couln't take it. He couldn't take it. He couldn't take it!

Tirek's vocal cords shaked with triumph at being used once more as Tirek realeased a long, strained scream. He shaked with the purest of fury and got up, striking the bars, trying to get through. He spat insults and gibberish, words strewn together nonsenseically. Cerberus quickly ran over to his side, waiting for him to try and stick his head out once more. The opportunity came, and Tirek was knocked hasrshly into the bars onto the other side of the cage, falling unconsious.

He awoke to the hushed voices around him, remarking at the loss of his sanity.

He laughed weakly. So the legend was true.
