> Emeralds > by StarWolf833 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > An Average Day Turned Magical > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sunset Shimmer's eyes had been acting weird for a week now. They saw things that weren't there, emitted small, quick flashes of bright light, and unrelated to her eyes, Sunset Shimmer had a really bad headache. Countless doctors had no idea what was causing this magical energy, and Sunset Shimmer was upset about this. One night, Sunset lay awake in her bed, her eyes acting up again. This time, however, was quite amusing. Her eyes placed mini-movies onto the ceiling for Sunset. some were sad, some were funny, some were plain stupid. Sunset blinked, and a new movie appeared. It was like channel surfing on the TV. However, Sunset was worried about her mental health. Could she had tumors in her eyes or brain, causing these hallucinations? Had she been cursed, or a spell had gone wrong? Thinking about this made Sunset suspiciously sleepy, so she let her eyes carress her to sleep with another mini movie. "Hngg!" Sunset Shimmer mumbled painfully, eyes shooting open to face the rough silhouette of Princess Luna. Princess Luna helped Sunset stand up. They were surrounded by many scenes, strange things her eyes had made her seen. "Princess Luna? What are you doing here? Where are we? Are my eyes okay?" Sunset would've asked more questions, but Princess Luna held a hoof up to her mouth. "I am here because of your eyes. I am visiting you in your dream because your dear friend is in danger, and that of the world as well. You see, you are gifted with the rare Emerald Eyes. One pony in every thousand years has this gift. Your eyes hold a vast field of immense power that could destroy a galaxy. Your eyes know that the world is in danger, so they have been acting up. You must use these powers to save Twilight Sparkle and Equis from falling into the black hole beneath us." Luna explained calmly. Sunset Shimmer blinked. She processed the shocking news quite quickly. It was all so easy to understand, yet so hard to believe as well! "We have a black hole beneath us?" Sunset asked. Luna nodded, using her magic to show a projection of a ginormous black hole. "The Black Hole of Equine, as we call it, has a very strong magnetic pull. Luckily for us, Equis is just out of it's magnetic reaches. If Equis or Twilight Sparkle falls into the black hole, we'll all die..." Luna cut herself off before becoming too detailed. Sunset gasped, watching Luna's projected viceo of Equis falling into the black hole. "Wow, all of Equis on my shoulders. Wow. But Luna, I don't know how to use mye eyes!" Sunset said, looking at Luna expectantly. Luna's face dropped, she had expected Sunset to know how to control her eyes. What a silly thought, Luna said to herself, she wouldn't know if I just told her. "Tomorrow you shall start training." Luna said, before dissapearing. Sunset awoke in her bed, shooting out of the covers, grabbing her coat and scrambling through town. She'd have to catch the teain, but there was no time for that! Teleportation! That's the ticket, except...Sunset didn't know how to use that spell. Sunset's eyes suddenly went white. When the white cleared, Sunset was standing next to Luna. Her eyes had actually teleported her. Luna was asleep, laying akwardly in her bed, snoring. Sunset Shimmer couldn't help but blush. Luna looked so cute when she slept. Sunset didn't want to wake her up, but did anyways with a flash from her eyes, "Stupid eyes!" Sunset cursed under her breathe. Luna arosed, smiling gently down at her new trainee. "Good morning, Sunset Shimmer." Luna said, stroking her own mane. Sunset smiled gently and calmly, blinking. Luna teleported them to the royal gardens. All the beautiful elusive flowers and the ancient statues were beautiful. Sunset noticed the Chaos Rose, a flower purchased on Hearts and Hooves Day to resemble endless love. Luna plucked the chaos rose and wove it into her mane. Sunset smiled. The Chaos Rose made Luna's eyes look almost as magical as her own. "Training starts...NOW!" In a burst of energy a large training field appeared below them. Although the flowers made the field look weak and childish, they still added a nice touch. Luna stared into Sunset's emarald eyes. "Sunset, your eyes! I have never seen this before! This cannot happen!" Luna screamed. "What? What?" Sunset called, nervous now. What was wrong with her eyes? Were they more powerful than Luna imagined? Sunset hoped so, but the terrified look on Luna's face told her otherwise. "Sunset, your eyes are fading. Your eyes are weak! If we don't train soon, your eyes will lose all power and turn blue!" Luna said, shivering. Sunset gasped, feeling hot tears invading her eyes. A trickle of salty tears hit the gravel below them. Luna patted Sunset's back. "We can still save your eyes. But we have to train hard!" So they trained hard. Eye exercises to using her eyes to destroy cardboard dumbies, Sunset Shimmer was using her eyes to blast her way through day one of training. "Excellent job, Sunset! Your eyes are regaining color." Luna said proudly. "Thank you for training me Luna." Sunset Shimmer said, happily bowing down to her friend. Luna nodded, passionately smiling at Sunset Shimmer. "You should teleport home now. You have to rest for another day of training." Luna said. Sunset let her eyes teleport her home. That night, as projections danced across the ceiling once again, Sunset wondered many things. Would her eyes fade if she overused them? Could she over-train? How powerful would her eyes be? When her mission is done with the emerald colors fade? All these questions tired Sunset Shimmer, so she drifted off to sleep as she watched Twilight Sparkle host a science party on the ceiling.
