A thousand years ago...

Celestia and Luna walked towards Discord, determination gleaming in their eyes. They were finally able to stop Discord and his chaotic reign once and for all. Discord on the other hand, was not paying any attention to them almost as if they didn't exist. The two sisters kept on walking towards Discord until he turned his throne around to face the Alicorns.

"Oh, this is so much fun! Who wants to play 'Pin the Tail on the Pony'?" Discord said as he held up Celestia's tail.

Surprised to see her tail in the draconequus's clutches, she turned her head around to find that her tail was missing.

"Playtime is over for you, Discord!" Celestia said sternly.

Discord simply replied "Oh, I doubt that," while munching on a seed from a bag that he conjured up with his magic.

"Hungry?" He then threw a seed each at the two sisters which they completely ignored. "Well, suit yourself."

Celestia had enough. Looking at Discord with an angry glare, she levitated the Elements of Harmony out of her saddlebag with her sister soon following. Then they activated the elements which only piqued his curiosity.

"Ooooh, what have you got there?"

Celestia replied "The Elements of Harmony!"

"With them we shall defeat you!" Luna promptly followed.

But even with that Discord was not intimidated. As Celestia and Luna were charging their attack against Discord, he started to laugh.

"You should see yourselves right now! The expressions on your face, so intense, so sure of yourselves!"

But the two sisters did not listen. The Elements of Harmony launched their attack on the still laughing Discord.

"But no matter what you do, you can't defeat me or my da--"

Discord didn't get to finish his last words as the Elements of Harmony blasted a huge rainbow beam raining down on him, turning Discord into stone. A beautiful rainbow wave restored harmony and erased his chaos.

When the Elements finally stopped, Celestia and Luna fell down onto to the grass that they were now on. The two were completely exhausted from using so much magic. Even with the Elements of Harmony, defeating Discord and reversing the damage he had done had taken a lot of energy out of the two sisters. After some time, Celestia and Luna got up and gaped at what they accomplished.

Luna was first to talk, "It seems that the Elements are stronger than we originally thought."

"Agreed," Celestia said.

The two smiled. The chaos was finally over. The ponies could go back to their normal lives without worrying whether there house would be flipped upside down today. All was good.

But then, they heard a whimper.

Looking around, trying to find where the sound had come from, Celestia found that the sound was coming from the stone statue that was Discord. When the two walked over to the statue they noticed a small creature hiding behind the statue. Celestia walked closer to the hiding creature. Celestia held her hoof out to the small creature and waited patiently for its response.

When the creature finally mustered up enough courage to interact with the stranger, the creature revealed itself to the sisters, but when the Alicorns saw the creature, they were astonished.

They were speechless to what they saw in front of them. As what they saw was a young draconequus.

The draconequus cub's body was mostly purple, with its neck and body fur being in different hues. The head was pony shaped but its ears were big and floppy and two small stubs protruded from behind its head. Its mane was messy and colored dark blue with stripes of magenta and lavender streaking through it. Its eyes were similar to Discord's, with a yellow sclera and no iris, but it had a violet pupil instead of red. Its forelegs were that of an eagle, colored in darker shade of purple than its body fur. Its hind legs were that of some big cat in the same shade of purple as its forelegs. It had hot pink serpent's tail with a tuft of hair, the same coloration as its mane, at the end of it. On its back were two small pegasus wings. Taking a closer look at the draconequus they were able to identify it as a female.

However Luna did not care for its looks but more for what it was.

"Sister we must vanquish this beast at once!" Luna shouted

"Now hold on, this draconequus is still very young," Celestia calmly replied "Although it may pose a threat to Equestria, I believe that she has no ill will against this world to do so."

"Sister we do not even know where she came from!" Luna shouted "For all we know it could be Discord's daughter!"

Then there was silence.

Could it be? Is this draconequus, Discord's daughter? Who's the mother? Would it be safe to spare her from the Elements of Harmony? Hundreds of questions ran through Celestia's mind.

"Sister?" Luna asked

Celestia snapped back to her senses

"Hmmm, maybe it is best we keep her hidden from the populace. At least until the ponies get settled back into their new lives" Celestia said

"Are you sure about this, Sister? I don't think the ponies here want to see another draconequus. They would have to forget about, Discord's reign if the draconequus wants to live out here. Even then it still poses a threat to Equestria. If we kept it in hiding, who knows what it'll try to do? It might even try to avenge its Father!"

"Luna, we don't know that yet. We don't even know if this draconequus is, Discord's daughter!"

"Then why don't we try that heritage spell we found in the Castle Library?" Luna said "Then, we can know for sure,"

Celestia pondered about this for a moment. 'That would clear up a few unanswered questions' Celestia thought.

"Do it then."

Luna lit her horn and began to cast the spell on the draconequus who now looked terrified. It was now flailing its limbs as it was being lifted up in the air. When the spell completed its task the draconequus was put back down, a display then came up above the its head and on it was Discord's name, a question mark, and one other name that read "Twilight Sparkle".

"Oh dear," Celestia said

"Well I believe that settles it then," Luna said in a rather cocky tone.

"Why is there a question mark next to, Discord's name?" Celestia asked

"I don't know,"

"Well then I guess this 'Twilight Sparkle' is the draconequus in front of us,"

"Now that's settled with, what should we do with her?"

"Well, we can't let the ponies here know about her," Celestia answered.

"I'm still wondering why you want to help her in the first place," Luna replied.

"You know it would be wrong to use the Elements of Harmony on an innocent,"

"She's Discord's daughter!" Luna shouted back.

"What does that have to do with anything!? She hasn't done anything wrong!"

Luna pondered on her sisters words. "Fine, I'll let her go."

Twilight was now quivering in fear behind the statue

"Maybe instead of just hiding her, we'll put her in a state of sleep and remove any memories of her life. At least until the ponies of this land forget about Discord's reign."

"Are you sure about this?" Luna replied. "Faust knows how long that could take. This 'Twilight' could grow up while in her sleep and when she wakes up most likely cause Chaos like her Father."

"Then we put her in a preservation crystal," Celestia said "Then she will stay as a child until she awakens."

"Sister..." Luna looked a bit hesitant about this plan "Are you sure about this?"

"Yes," Celestia replied

"Well, if you believe that is what's best for us, then I shall have no objections,"

Celestia lit her horn. Twilight was looking at the two curiously, wondering what was going on. She slowly backed away and was about to run away until Celestia's magic got hold of her and put her to sleep. She was then encased in a crystal twice as big as her. Her memories were buried deep in her brain.

"It has been done,"

Celestia stood on her balcony, looking at a school group visiting the Canterlot sculpture garden as a part of their field trip. She recognized some of the ponies in the school group from her visits to Ponyville. She especially recognized the orange, pale yellow, and alabaster fillies. She remembered Twilight writing to her about them once or twice.

What were their names again? Sweetie Loo? Scooter? Oh, it didn't matter.

Celestia took a sip from her tea and put the cup back on the railing. She noticed that the class was now looking at the statue of Discord.

Looking at his frozen form always reminded her of Twilight, and what she had to go through to where she is today. Celestia wondered why she didn't turn Twilight into a pony. If she did Twilight wouldn't have had to deal with being bullied by her old classmates. Celestia remembered when one time Twilight refused to go to school, fearing that she'll be bullied again. Even when she wasn't at school many ponies gave her looks and sometimes even denied her service.

Well, at least now Twilight has her friends, Celestia thought solemnly.

Celestia looked back at the school group and saw that the three fillies were fighting. Their teacher stopped them and said to the three something before they all moved to the next statue.

But then Celestia noticed something.

She saw a small crack appearing on Discord's stone chest.

More cracks appeared on Discord with a dim dark red glowing from the cracks.

Cracks now covered the entire statue.

But then, the statue was gone with only crumbs of stone left on the pedestal

"Oh no," were the only words that came from Celestia's mouth.

"Spike! Wake up!"

"Mmmm, five more minutes..."

"C'mon Spike. Rise and Shine!"

Spike partly opened his eyes and groggily sat up on his basket. He looked up and saw a purple pony with a dark blue mane with a pink highlight streaking through it.

"Gah!" Spike shot up and backed away from the pony, "Who are you and what are you doing here!?"

"Calm down, Spike! It's just me!" said the pony.

Spike recognized the pony's voice. He steadied his breathing and analyzed the pony further.

"Twilight?"

"Yup, it's me!"

Spike was confused. Last time he saw her she was the mismatched creature that he knew and loved.

"Twilight... Why are you a pony?" Spike asked.

"Well... recently I've been working on a transformation spell that would turn me into a pony!" Twilight explained.

"I can see that but, why?"

"So I can finally fit in!" Twilight shouted gleefully.

Spike just looked at her with sympathy. Although Twilight never showed it, Spike knew how she felt about herself. She looked at her self as a monster. An abomination that could never fit in to society.

"Twilight..." Spike said. "You know you don't have to do this, right? You have your friends! They don't make fun of you for what you are. I don't think they even care that you look like an 8 foot noodle with horns"

Twilight winced at that last comment but ignored it with a sigh. " I guess you're right Spike."

"You bet I am."

Twilight paced around for a bit, stumbling a few times. "Can I at least stay like this for the rest of the day? I worked so hard on the spell, and I don't want to let it go to waste."

Spike sighed at this request. "Fine, but only for today!"

The purple pony pranced around the room repeatedly shouting "Yes" until she tripped and fell flat on her face.

"I'm okay." Twilight said with a dazed look on her face.

"So what's first on the agenda?" Spike asked.

"Hmmm, how about we go to Sweet Apple Acres? I would love to try out applebucking!"

"Sure, why not?"

Twilight walked over to the door and attempted to open it with her hooves. Failing to open the door with her hooves, Twilight switched over to using her mouth instead. Spike seeing Twilight struggle to open the door, he moved in front of Twilight and opened the door for her.

"Thanks," Twilight said sheepishly.

Twilight stepped out of the library, ready to experience the world as something else. She scanned the town she loved, smiling at the ponies walking past her. She looked up at the sky and noticed something peculiar...

Spike squeezed past Twilight and looked up at Twilight.

"What are you looking at Twilight?" Spike asked.

"Um... Spike, were the clouds always pink?"

"Huh? What are you talking abou--" Spike's pupils shrunk to pinpricks. "Woah, that's weird."

"Hmmm. Hey look! There's Rainbow Dash! Maybe she can tell us what's going on." Twilight exclaimed. "Hey, Rainbow Dash!"

The blue pegasus halted, searching for the source of the call of her name. She located the source and flew down to Twilight.

"Hey Spike! How are ya? Who's your friend here?" Rainbow Dash asked.

"That's Twilight," Spike answered.

Rainbow Dash gawked at the purple pony.

"Twilight!? Why are you a pony?"

"I have my reasons..." Twilight said sheepishly. "Do you know why the clouds are pink?"

"Oh, those? I dunno why the clouds are pink, it just... happened. But I'll get rid of them!"

"Okay, good luck!" Twilight said.

"Won't need it!" Rainbow Dash replied.

Rainbow Dash charged straight at the cloud, ready to bust it. She came in contact with the cloud and grabbed it, only to stick to the cloud. Rainbow Dash noticed that the scent of the cloud was familiar. She shook the cloud off and tasted the cloud's remains that stuck on her body.

"Cotton Candy?" Rainbow Dash said confused.

Suddenly a swarm of clouds zipped around Rainbow Dash.

"Woah! Hey what's going on!?"

A cloud hovered above Rainbow Dash and .

"Hey! Its not supposed to rain till tomorrow! You can't just--"

Chocolate milk rain showered Rainbow Dash interrupting her protest.

"And you did..."

The cloud that rained over Rainbow Dash flew away from her, aggravating the blue pegasus.

"Hey, I didn't tell you to go anywhere!" Rainbow Dash cried out, chasing the cotton candy cloud. The swarm of clouds bundled together, chasing Rainbow Dash whilst pouring chocolate milk rain on to the land.

Spike, who had observed the events that had just transpired asked Twilight "Should we do something?"

Spike looked to his side and noticed that Twilight had disappeared. He looked around trying to see where she had gone until he heard a 'pop' sound behind him. Spike turned around and saw Twilight still as a pony holding a book in her mouth.

"What did you say Spike?" Twilight said, dropping the book.

"Um, I asked if we should do something about... that," Spike asked pointing at the swarm of pink clouds raining chocolate milk.

"Well yes, of course we're gonna do something about it," Twilight said rolling her eyes. "Now come on, we have a storm to stop."

It was a sunny day at Sweet Apple Acres. Big Macintosh was bucking the apple trees, Granny Smith was inside cooking the family some lunch, and Applejack was harvesting corn in the cornfields. Applejack grabbed the corn from the stalk and threw it into the wagon behind her. She went on to continue this routine until she heard the cracking of a storm. She spun her head towards the source of the sound and saw Rainbow Dash chasing a pink cloud raining brown rain with a horde of similar clouds also raining brown rain tailing her.

"What the... Is that chocolate milk rain?" Applejack muttered. "Rainbow Dash! Get down here!"

Rainbow Dash hearing Applejack's request, flew down towards her.

"Rainbow Dash, what's going on with this rain? I mean chocolate milk? I mean chocolate milk rain?!" Applejack interrogated.

"Turns out there's crazy weather all over Equestria! Cloudsdale is getting soaked by a major cola storm right now! But don't worry. I'm not leaving you until I get control of Ponyville!" Rainbow Dash answered.

Rainbow Dash flew off, attempting to stop the storm leaving Applejack surrounded by mountains of popcorn. Suddenly Applejack was assaulted in the face by popcorn, knocking her back on to the soil.

Meanwhile, Pinkie Pie who had unknowingly strolled all the way to Sweet Apple Acres while trying to get the chocolate milk in her mouth, saw the sea of popcorn and dived in, submerging herself inside the salty goodness, occasionally popping back up to drink the chocolate milk rain.

"Now why would you wanna stop this?" Pinkie Pie said in response to Rainbow Dash's earlier statement.

Rarity, who was wearing a purple raincoat with a umbrella attached to a saddle fastened on to her, walked towards Applejack, engulfed in the sea of popcorn. "Ahem. I heard about your troubles, Applejack, and I came to see if there's anything I can do without getting wet. Or dirty. Or out from under my umbrella."

All of a sudden, the apples in Sweet Apple Acres enlarged ten times their size, causing the tree trunks to bend over from the weight of the apples.

The critters that often harassed Sweet Apple Acres in the past saw the sudden growth of apples, took advantage of it and pounced on the apples, taking huge bites in to the sweet juicy fruit. More critters soon ran rampant on the farm, some of them being brought by Fluttershy who was taking her animals out on a walk.

Applejack seeing her fruits being devoured, quickly became irritated and called upon Fluttershy for help. "Fluttershy! Do somethin'!"

"Now, Angel, you really shouldn't–" In a flash, every single bunny's legs transformed into long skinny hooves. "No! It's not possible! I must be seeing things!"

Sweet Apple Acres was now in total chaos. Twilight and Spike were standing on a nearby hill, scanning the farm, dumbfounded at what they were seeing.

"Sweet Celestia! What the hay happened here!?" Spike shouted.

"I don't know Spike, but hopefully this spell can stop all of this." Twilight said, reading over the spell in her book again. "Alright Spike, this is a pretty complicated spell so I'm going to have to turn back into my usual self to cast it."

As Twilight was casting the spell to turn her back to 'normal', Pinkie popped her head back out of the sea of popcorn and saw Twilight. Pinkie dashed towards her thinking she was somepony new.

"Hi there!" Pinkie said excitedly.

"Gah!" Twilight shrieked as she fell on to her haunches.

"Are you new here? I mean you have to be new since I know everypony in Ponyville and I don't know you so that means you're not from here. Oooh! I'm gonna have to throw you a superduper awesome welcome party later! Buuuut right now I'm busy with drinking all this chocolate milk rain! Oh, you should join me! I mean you might get a little dirty but still--" Pinkie Pie trailed on and on as she pressed Twilight on the ground. Twilight looked at Spike with pleading eyes to get Pinkie off of her.

"Ummm Pinkie? Do you mind getting off Twilight?" Spike asked.

"Wait," Pinkie pointed at the purple unicorn. "SHE'S TWILIGHT!?"

"Pretty much."

Pinkie Pie gasped and pounced on Twilight again. "OH MY GOSH! Now we can do pony things together like a pony! Like baking cupcakes, decorating cupcakes, eating cupcakes, and getting stomachaches from eating too many cupcakes! I mean it'll kinda be the same but still it'll be so much fun!"

"Yeah... it'll be great," Twilight said, forcing a smile, trying to get Pinkie Pie off of her so she can stop the chaos happening around the two.

"Heeeeeey... why are you a pony? Oh, did Princess Celestia give you another assignment and turned you into a pony? Were you trying out one of the spells in that dusty old book I found locked away behind a bookcase? Or maybe you were feeling really really insecure about yourself so you spent weeks making a spell that turns you into a pony so no one looks at you funny?"

Twilight winced at the last question. "Whaaaaat? Noooo, I'd never do such a thing like that. I'm just testing a spell that's all." said Twilight. "Do you mind getting off of me?"

Meanwhile Rarity, Applejack, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy were still trying to stop the mayhem happening around them. Applejack noticing that Pinkie Pie had disappeared, she looked around to see where she had gone, finding her on top of a hill talking to another pony.

"Who's that pony Pinkie is talking to?" Applejack asked.

Rarity still idling around under her umbrella replied to Applejack's question. "Hmm, I believe that's Twilight, Applejack."

"What? No that can't be possible. She's a... um... something... Point is she's not a pony!"

"Well yes that may be true but she's somepony with outstanding magical capabilities, I'm pretty sure she can turn herself into a pony. Besides she has the exact same mane as Twilight's. It's pretty obvious no?"

Applejack looked at the pony pinned by Pinkie Pie again. Sure enough the pony did share many features with Twilight. Well pony-like features. "I guess you're right Rarity. She does somewhat look like Twilight. Hey, maybe she can help us!"

"Hey Pinkie Pie! Can you bring Twilight down here!?" Applejack shouted.

"Okie dokie lokie!" Pinkie Pie hopped off Twilight and rolled down the hill. Twilight and Spike soon followed and slid down the hill.

"How did you know it was me?" Twilight asked.

"Deary, it's pretty obvious that it's you. I mean, I don't think anyone has a mane quite like yours. But I do want to know why you're a pony," said Rarity.

"Well..."

Without warning, chocolate milk poured down on them, soaking them in the liquid.

"But I suppose now is not the time to talk about this. Do you have any ideas on how to stop all of this? I'd like to go home soon before the chocolate milk makes me sticky," Rarity said, disgusted by the sweet liquid.

"Well there's a spell in this book that might be able to stop all of this but due to the spell's complexity, I have to turn back into my usual self which I was going to do until Pinkie interrupted me," Twilight explained.

Pinkie just kept grinning.

"Well get on with it! I can't stand seeing mah crops being ruined any longer!" Applejack shouted.

"Here goes..." Twilight begun casting the spell to reverse her transformation and a purple ethereal ribbon engulfed her. Until suddenly there was a flash and Twilight, back to her usual self fell down on to the ground. "Oof! Well that could have gone better."

"Look! Twilight's back!" said Pinkie Pie.

"Alright let's fix this mess," Twilight stood up, tall as a tree and started casting the next spell.

She closed her eyes, putting all her concentration on to the spell until once again all the chaos was reversed in a literal flash.

"Hey! What happened?" Pinkie Pie complained.

Twilight opened her eyes and saw that everything had gone back to normal.

"But how? I didn't even finish casting the spell," Twilight muttered.

"Aw yeah! Nice job Twilight!" Rainbow Dash praised.

Soon enough, everyone except Pinkie congratulated Twilight in stopping the madness.

After a few minutes of celebration Applejack put a hoof on Twilight's back.

"So now that's over with, there's something that ah'd like to know,"

"What is it?" Twilight asked.

"Why were you a pony?" Applejack questioned.

"Oh um... Well you see-"

Before Twilight could finish, Spike belched out a scroll with his fire breath. Twilight picked up the scroll and read through it.

"What does it say?" Rarity asked curiously.

"C'mon, girls. Princess Celestia wants to see us all in Canterlot immediately!"

"I wonder why she wants to see us."

"I don't know but it looks like its an emergency."

Hearing this, Pinkie sprung back up, back to her cheerful nature and hopped towards the train station. "C'mon everyone! Adventure awaits us!"

As the six headed towards the station, Twilight swore she heard a cackle behind them.

“Ow!”

Twilight bumped her head on the ceiling of the train for the umpteenth time while Rainbow Dash snickered at her pain.

“Rainbow Dash, quit it!” Applejack scolded.

Rainbow Dash huffed in response.

“Um, are you okay Twilight?” Fluttershy asked.

“Yeah, a little bit irritated but otherwise I’m fine,” Twilight said as she rubbed her head.

She also noticed that nearly everyone in the train cabin looked at her. Some only looked briefly to not be rude while others just stared. Twilight felt nervous from this attention.

Rarity seeing Twilight’s distress, tried to distract her from the situation.

“So, why do you think Princess Celestia called us?” Rarity asked.

Twilight, “Um, I don’t really know why she needs us in Canterlot, but maybe it has to do with all the weird things going on.”

“Maybe it’s another big baddie that Celestia wants us to beat up!” Rainbow Dash said while boxing in the air.

“I hope not...” Fluttershy whimpered.

“Oooh! Maybe she needs us to help prepare a super CRAZY party like the Grand Galloping Gala but less stuck up and some of the decorations ended up in Ponyville by accident!” Pinkie Pie squealed.

“Now I doubt that’s the case Pinkie,” Rarity said, inspecting her hooves.

“Girls, we’re here,” Twilight notified.

The train halted to a stop and the 5 ponies and the beast all walked out and headed to the castle.

Celestia paced in the entrance hall of her currently empty castle. No guards were present as they were given direct orders from Celestia to take the day off. No one knew why but they didn’t hesitate to follow the order.

The truth was she was sparing her guards from Discord. She didn’t want her guards to be hexed by him just because they were trying to protect her.

But something else concerned her even more than the guards.

“What am I going to tell Twilight?” Celestia thought worryingly.

The door suddenly burst open and Twilight and her friends came running in, surprising Celestia.

“Princess Celestia, we came as fast as we could!” said Twilight.

Celestia panicked inside, “Oh ponyfeathers, what am I going to tell her? She deserves to know the truth...”

However she maintained her regal posture and addressed to the six “Thank you, Twilight. Thank you, all.”

“Is this about the weather? And the animals' weird behaviour? What's happening out there? Is there–“ Celestia raised her hoof and Twilight stopped talking.

“Follow me.”

Celestia, Twilight, and her friends entered a huge hall, with stained glass adorning its walls. At the end of the hall was a door to a small vault, decorated with gems and gold.

“I've called you here for a matter of great importance. It seems an old foe of mine, someone I thought I had defeated long ago, has returned. His name... is Discord.” Celestia explained.

She pointed at a mosaic featuring a tall creature with body parts from all sorts of animals. Fluttershy squeaked in terror and cowered behind Applejack. The group moved forward but Twilight stopped and separated from the group to look at the mosaic.

“’Discord’... why does that name sound familiar?” Twilight stared at the mosaic.

Twilight kept thinking about the name until Celestia called her name, “Twilight, are you okay?”

“What? OH! Yes I’m fine! Go on!” Twilight rushed back to the group and stood straight, waiting intently for Celestia to go on.

Celestia coughed. “Discord is the mischievous spirit of disharmony. Before my sister and I stood up to him, he ruled Equestria in an eternal state of unrest and unhappiness,” She gestured towards another stained glass mosaic with a frightened pegasus, unicorn, and earth pony, with Discord at the top of the mosaic, pictured to be controlling the ponies like puppets on a string.

“Luna and I saw how miserable life was for Earth ponies, Pegasi, and unicorns alike, so after discovering the Elements of Harmony, we combined our powers and rose up against him, turning him to stone.”

“All right, Princess!” Rainbow Dash congratulated.

“Hey, he kinda looks like you Twilight!” Pinkie Pie said, leaning on to her tall friend.

“Pinkie Pie! That is a rude thing to say about your friend!” Rarity scolded.

“Heh, sorry...” said Pinkie in a low voice,

“It’s fine Pinkie, don’t worry about it,” Twilight replied.

“If she knew how close she was to the truth...” Celestia thought to herself, a drop of sweat running down her face.

“I thought the spell we cast would keep him contained forever, but since Luna and I are no longer connected to the Elements, the spell has been broken.”

“C’mon Celestia think! You can’t just make her use the elements on her own father! Hay, she doesn’t even know!”

“This is why I brought you six here. The elements are behind this door, locked with a spell so that only my sister and I can open it.”

“But I don’t have any other options... Fine, but you will tell her after all of this!”

“I need all of you to use the Elements of Harmony once again and stop Discord!”

“I have a feeling this is not going to end well...”

“Don’t worry Princess Celestia, you can count on us!” Twilight said confidently.

“I have no doubt that you will succeed in this mission,” Celestia lowered her head and stuck her horn into the keyhole and the door slowly opened.

“I actually have a lot of doubts right now...”

The door opened and a case decorated with jewels and gold sitting on a pedestal.

“Especially with these in hand!”Celestia levitated the case and opened it in front of everyone to see, only to find out that the box was empty.

Celestia sputtered “Wh- What th- the Elements! How did they disappear?!”

A cackle filled the room.

“My oh my, how the mighty have fallen...” spoke a voice.

“Discord!”

“Princess Celestia, what’s going on!?” Twilight asked worryingly.

“Show yourself Discord!” Celestia demanded.

Another cackle filled the room.

A flash came from the windows, revealing Discord, swimming around the coloured glass as a mosaic.

“Did you miss me Celestia? I missed you. It gets lonely being trapped in stone. But you wouldn’t know that because I don’t turn ponies into stone,” Discord’s voice echoed through the hall “But I’ve also grown a bit worrisome about someone. I think you know what I’m talking about Celestia.”

“Enough! Where did you hide the Elements!?”

“Oh don’t worry about your precious Elements. I’m only borrowing them for a short while.” Discord said as he lay down on a mosaic of the Elements. “Now back on the topic at hand...”

Celestia started to panic. However she maintained her royal mask. She gave a quick glance towards Twilight, who was just flabbergasted at the events unfolding in front of her. The rest of them had similar expressions.

Celestia opened her mouth to retort until she was interrupted by Discord, “Welp, if you don’t have anything to say, I’ll be taking her back and be on my way,”

With a snap of his fingers, Twilight fell unconscious, causing everypony to gasp.

“Twilight!” Rarity exclaimed.

Her friends rushed to her and made an effort to wake her up, but they did not succeed.

“What did you do to her!?” Rainbow Dash interrogated fiercely, flying up to the glass pane.

“Oh don’t worry she’ll be fine. After all why would ever bring myself to har-- Whoops, nearly spoiled the big secret. Let’s just you won’t be seeing her for a while,” Discord said with a smirk. “Well I must be off now. Equestria won’t turn upside down itself. Plus I need to catch up with someone. Toodles!”

With another snap, Discord vanished in a flash, together with Twilight’s unconscious body.

“What the hay just happened?” Applejack demanded to know, left bewildered at the events,

“Oh :yay:,” were the only words that Celestia could say to the situation.

18 years before Discord’s escape…

Celestia stood up. Day court was over and she was tired of listening to half-witted greedy nobles all day. She was ready to retreat to her personal quarters and take a well-deserved break.

She went to her room, closed the door behind her, and jumped on to her bed. Letting the soft mattress carry her, she took a deep breath and sighed.

With nothing currently grabbing her attention, her mind wandered off to thoughts about her sister, Luna. She still grieved over the banishment of her sister. Every night was torture for Celestia. To raise the moon and see the image of her sister scarred on to the moon.

She blamed herself constantly on how she didn’t see her sister’s misery.

Celestia’s thoughts were interrupted as she heard banging on the door. She got up and opened the door to see two guardponies, armor stained by… cotton candy?

“Princess Celestia! There is an emergency!” One of the guards shouted.

“What is it?” Celestia questioned.

“An unidentifiable creature has intruded the castle and is causing chaos at the courtyard!” The other guard informed.

Celestia’s curiosity was piqued.

An unidentifiable creature? That’s new,” Celestia thought.

“Then let us move at utmost haste towards the courtyard,” Celestia ordered the guards.

The guards saluted back, “Yes, your majesty!”

Celestia made it to the courtyard, only to find it in an absolute mess. There were bits and pieces of cotton candy littering the court, trees that were pulled out from the ground were stuck in the air, and the fountain that was at the center was thrown off to the side.

Most notable was the group of guards with shields circling something. Celestia moved towards the circle, and messaged the guards to step aside. The guards did what they were told, and opened the circle for Celestia to step in.

When Celestia finally got to see what the guardponies were surrounding, she was astonished at what she saw.

She saw a small purple creature, taking a defensive stance and hissing at the guards.

Celestia immediately recognized the creature upon seeing it.

The draconequus, Discord’s daughter… But I thought she was put in the preservation crystal,” Celestia thought to herself.

She was entranced by the draconequus for a while, until one of the guards asked for orders from Celestia.

She quickly took action and gave orders, “Make sure it doesn’t go anywhere! I need somepony to go to the kitchen to get a bowl of chocolate milk and be quick!”

“Yes your highness!” The guards shouted back without questions.

A couple of minutes later a guard came back with a bowl of chocolate milk lying on a tray on his back. Celestia levitated the bowl off the tray and placed it inside the circle of guards. The draconequus slowly and curiosly walked towards the bowl and gave it a sniff. She seemed to recognize the drink as she eagerly licked it up like a cat. Celestia was relieved to see that the draconequus at least calmed down a little. Otherwise the situation would’ve worsened and Canterlot would be in a panicked state.

Celestia coughed, “I need all of you to stay back and keep the courtyard closed. We’re going to wait for it to become tired and fall asleep so try not to make it feel uncomfortable. Until then make sure nopony gets inside this area. Understood?”

The guards diligently replied with “Yes your highness!”

A few moments passed. The guards blocked all entrances to the courtyard and covered any windows that peered into the courtyard.

Meanwhile Celestia conjured up heat lamp to keep the courtyard warm and cosy.

While the draconequus was slightly confused by this, she ignored it and finished the bowl of chocolate milk and explored the area she found herself in. However she quickly grew tired as she had used a lot of magic fighting off the guards that attempted to apprehend her.

Her eyelids felt heavy and with the warmth of the heat lamp enveloping her, she lay down and slept.

Celestia saw this and carefully wrapped the draconequus in a blanket. She then told the guards, “I’ll be taking it to my personal quarters for now. Get the castle cleaners to clean the courtyard and then open it again.”

“Yes your highness,” they responded.

“And don’t tell anyone about what happened here. Got that?”

“Yes your highness,”

“Good. Now if you’ll excuse me…”

Celestia picked up the sleeping draconequus and carried her back to Celestia’s room. Celestia cautiously placed her on the bed, still asleep.

Celestia stared at the draconequus. She was curled up comfortably, occasionally twitching.

Celestia smiled. She couldn’t help it. Seeing the small furry creature like that was cute.

But she then remembered who she was.

"Discord’s daughter… What was her name again? Ah right, Twilight. How did she break out of the preservation crystal?” Celestia wondered. “Well she is the daughter of a being who can bend reality to his will, I guess it would kind of make sense that she could break out of the crystal.

Celestia sighed and rested her head on the side of the bed.

But what am I going to do with her? I can’t just keep her in the castle, the nobles would freak out and who knows what kind of stories the reporters will cook up. But I can’t just put her back in the crystal either since she could just break out again…

Celestia was stumped. She didn’t know what to do with the thing.

“Hmm… Wait! Maybe…”

A week has passed. She had spent the week researching families that were looking to adopt foals. She did find one, Twilight Velvet and Night Light. What a strange coincidence that the draconequus shared the same name with Twilight Velvet. From what she’s heard they sounded like nice ponies, and they were experienced with childcare since they already have a child. She just hoped they wouldn’t freak out seeing Twilight.

Celestia stood outside their house, late at night, carrying a saddlebag with the sleeping draconequus inside. She knocked on the door and waited for a response. She heard hoofsteps nearing the door until she heard the door click and open. A middle-aged mare with a light grey coat and a purple striped mane stood behind the door.

The mare looked surprised seeing her ruler stand there in front of her, “Oh Princess Celestia! Wh- What brings you here your highness?”

“You are Twilight Velvet correct?” Celestia asked.

“Um… Yes?”

“May I come in?”

“Oh yes of course!”

Celestia walked in and followed Twilight Velvet to the living room.

“Please take a seat. I need to go upstairs and get my husband”

Celestia sat down on the couch as Velvet went up the stairs. Celestia looked around the quaint and cosy house. It was nice. She could tell that Twilight will have nice life here. Well… if they take her in of course. Celestia opened her saddlebag to check on her. She was still asleep, snuggled up in the bag.

Twilight Velvet came back down with a blue stallion around the same age. They both sat down on the sofa and looked a little tense.

The blue stallion opened his mouth to speak, “So what brings you to our home your highness?”

“I hear that you two are looking to adopt a foal?” Celestia inquired.

“Oh um, yes we have. Why?” Velvet replied.

“Well then I have a proposal for you,”

Celestia opened her saddlebag and carefully levitated the sleeping draconequus out in to the couple’s hooves. The two were bewildered at the creature they were holding.

“Would you two like to adopt her into your hooves, Mrs. Velvet and Mr. Light?”

The couple continued their gaze at the draconequus. They were bewildered at the multi-textured creature they were holding; they’ve never seen anything like it.

Celestia looked at their expressions and began regretting that she made this proposal.

Finally, Twilight Velvet spoke, “Do you mind if we talk about this alone for a bit?”

Celestia nodded and levitated Twilight onto a pillow near her. The couple then quietly walked out of the room to talk. Celestia heard muffled chatter from the other room but decided not to eavesdrop on them.

Celestia waited for them to come back but in the meantime she kept herself occupied looking at the sleeping cub.

Celestia felt stupid for forgetting about Twilight’s existence. How could she have forgotten about the child of one of the most destructive villains in history? If she had remembered she would’ve had time to plan things more carefully. She at least hoped that the current plan would work out in the long run.

“Um, excuse me?” said a voice.

Celestia looked up. It was Twilight Velvet standing next to Night Light. They had finished their conversation and re-entered the room.

They were standing around nervously, with a little bit of worry in their eyes.

“So we’ve made our final decision and… we have decided to adopt this little… what is it exactly?” Twilight Velvet asked.

Celestia tried to come up with something, “Uh, she… she’s a pony. A magical mishap happened and she ended up like that. Then we found her and… you know.”

“Oookay…” Night Light said, reluctantly accepting the answer.

“Does she have a name?” Velvet asked.

“Why yes she does. Funnily enough it’s quite similar to yours Ms. Velvet. Her name is Twilight Sparkle.” Celestia answered cheerfully.

“Well okay then!” Velvet carefully lifted Twilight up and carried her in her hooves, “Welcome to the family Twilight.”

Twilight woke up, slightly woozy, “Ugh, what happened?”

She rubbed her head and closed her eyes, trying to recall what had happened, “We were in a hall in the castle, then Celestia told us to do something, and then…”

Twilight just remembered the final events that occurred before she was fell unconscious. She jolted up and looked around in a panic.

“Princess Celestia? Girls? Anyone?” she shouted.

No response. Twilight instead found floating islands, trees, and other debris littering the psychedelic void she was in.

“What is this place?”

Although Twilight did not recognize this place, for some reason she felt… pleasant? As if the total chaos engulfing the place made her feel happy.

She got up and walked around. However she didn’t go far as she was tackled down on to the ground by something.

“Oh it’s so good to have you back again! Finally after a thousand years!” it exclaimed while hugging her.

Twilight managed to turn around and get a good look of her attacker. But when she did, she backed away as fast she could as her assailant was Discord, who looked very happy.

He stood up and walked closer to her, “So tell me, how didja break out? What sort of things did Sunbutt make you do? Did she try to plague your mind with friendship lessons? You didn't follow them though right? Oh if that b-“

Discord was interrupted as Twilight snarled, “You.

“Yes it’s me, why? Is there something wrong?” Discord responded.

“Yeah there’s something wrong! You took the Elements of Harmony! You’re trying to take over Equestria! You’re evil,”

“Well I wouldn’t say that I’m evil but yes I did take the Elements of Harmony so I wouldn’t end up being a rock again, so?”

“Where did you put them?!” Twilight demanded to know.

Discord looked at her confused but then chuckled, “Haha very funny Twilight, but you can drop the act now.”

Twilight just looked at him angrily.

“Come on, now you can stop. Nobody is here except us,” Discord insisted.

She continued to glare at him.

“Okay seriously charade’s over, you can stop. You’re making Papa feel sad.”

“Listen, I don’t know what you’re talking about but if you won’t tell me where the Elements are, I’m going to leave and find them myself,” Twilight stated as she got up, "Once I find out how to get out of, here."

Discord looked at her again with the same face of confusion as before.

“Wait, it can’t be… Did they actually?” Discord muttered.

Twilight began walking away from the draconequus until she reached the ledge of the island she was on. She gasped as she nearly fell off and backed away little. She surveyed her surroundings and planned her next course of action.

“Well, I don’t see any other option but to teleport so…”

Twilight put on a face of immense concentration and within a few moments she teleported to her destination, another floating island.

Discord saw her and was confused by the amount of effort she put in to her teleport.

Twilight continued to walk on the new island she was on, but was gasped as Discord flashed right next to her.

“Gah! I told you to --,”

“What was that teleport?” Discord questioned.

“What do you mean?” Twilight responded.

“That teleport you did a few seconds ago. Why’d it take so long for you to do it? And why did you look like you were constipated when you were trying to do it?”

“Well teleportation is a spell that requires quite a bit of energy and concentration to accomplish and while a skilled unicorn may be able to do it a little easier, I am not a unicorn and the only reason I can do it is because of Celestia’s teachings,” she explained.

Discord blinked rapidly a few times, “So old Sunbutt taught you how to use your magic?”

“Yes and also, stop calling her that.”

“Do you know what you are?” The villain questioned further.

Twilight stammered “Uh… I- I- No. From what I’ve been told I’m the result of magic done wrong,”

Discord stroked his goatee. He thought about how to approach this.

“Well guess what kiddo? Today’s your lucky day! Or unlucky day, depending on how you see it cus' you've been lied to for a small portion of your life!” Discord announced, speaking into a microphone he pulled out of nowhere,

"Wait what do you mean lied to?" Twilight asked

“We can get to that later, what's important is that they're wrong and I have the truth. So let's get to it! First off, what are you? Well you’re not a pony!”

“I think I got that one figured out already Discord,” Twilight replied sarcastically.

“You’re something far more powerful and ancient. A species that has existed since the dawn of time,” smoke surrounded Twilight as Discord, with his body extended out, circled her in the air menacingly, “The only species with the power to bend reality. You are a draconequus! Just like me

"A what?"

"A dra-con-e-quus, spelt d-r-a-c-o-n-e-q-u-u-s."

"I don't believe you," Twilight stated.

"Why not?" he asked.

"Because it's impossible! Nothing can just bend reality!"

"Really? After all the stuff you've seen me do within two minutes of first seeing me and you don't believe me?" he said, slightly irritated.

"But all you did was move around in a some windows! Any unicorn with an illusion spell can do that."

"Well fine then, you can keep doubting me but don't blame me when your mind shuts down from not being able to handle my reality bending in one second."

The draconequus snapped his fingers and the world around them cracked. It wasn't that the floating rocks, islands were and other debris fractured but it was more like a glass mirror surrounding the two beasts cracked.

"What the," Twilight exclaimed.

"Ta-dah!"

With another snap of his fingers the cracks disappeared.

"What was that?! Everything was split and it was- it was like looking at a cracked mirror but I'm also in the mirror and- and-"

"You'll figure it out in due time but to put it simply, I broke this reality just a little," he explained with a grin on his face.

"No way," She stood flabbergasted, "then what you said was true?"

"Yup," the Lord of Chaos said, "Now that you believe me, don't try and do what I did just now. I don't need you creating an inescapable wormhole into limbo."

Twilight looked at herself in revelation. She finally had one of the biggest questions haunting her life answered. Yet she didn't feel satisfied. Her parents, Celestia... they really lied to her. Well perhaps her parents didn't know. That would be likely. But Celestia knew. Her mentor, practically her second mother. Yet she didn't tell her. The gears in her mind started spinning as she continued to fill in the blanks of her past.

"Wait a minute... Does that mean there are others like you and me?"

“Fortunately for the inhabitants of Equestria, no," Discord said mischievously, “If that were the case the world would have been long gone. Probably by implosion, or maybe eaten by giant mice after turning the planet to cheese.”

The purple draconequus struggled to form that image in her mind but she stopped when another realization came to her, “Hold on. Then where did I come from? If there aren’t any other draconequuses? Draconequi? Hey what’s the plural for draconequus?”

“I think its draconequi.”

“Oh okay. Anyway, if there aren’t any other draconequi, how was I born? Unless... No."

"Looks like you finally figured it out," he said as he calmly floated back down on his mismatched legs.

Twilight however wasn't so calm. She didn't really know how to feel. Her brain once again raced with questions such as 'Who's side am I on now? Are my friends going to leave me after they find out? Am I still the bearer of the Element of Magic? Will I have to abandon harmony?'. All of it coming from this revelation. Her head started to hurt as she tried to deny it.

Discord, smiling, stood in front of her with his arms wide open, “Now come here and give papa a hug.”

Instead the purple draconequus, with her talons covering her face, hunched over. Discord moved closer to inspect her and saw that her eyes were glowing.

“Uh oh.”

Suddenly parts of the island began shifting sporadically. Random objects appeared and disappeared. The now separated parts of the island turned into cheese, chocolate, metal, and all sorts of other materials. Discord readied to teleport out of the island but was instead knocked high into the air by a stone pillar.

He made a quick recovery however and with finesse he dodged another pillar hurtled into the sky

“Woah! Is that all you can do? I mean, taking the island apart and transmuting it? Booooring! Bleh, you did so much more when you were a baby! Sunbutt must have really screwed with your head...” he said while dodging more pillars.

Discord sighed, “Well, sorry sweetie but I’m going to have to put you out again.”

He snapped his fingers and anticlimactically Twilight fell to the ground face first. The altered chunks of island mostly stayed afloat in the swirling abyss, as Discord delicately floated down to the ground in front of the unconscious purple draconequus.

He bent over and gazed at her. A sigh left his mouth, “Hopefully next time I won’t have to knock you out…”

Everything happened a little too fast for most of the ponies in the grand room. Fluttershy continued to hide behind Applejack, who was trying to piece together what happened along with Rarity and Rainbow Dash, while Pinkie Pie… felt a mix of amazement and sadness from the kidnapping of her friend.

The hall was soon filled with the sound of hasty clops as the towering white mare paced around in circles. Her brow was sweating and her eyes concentrated, with millennia of experience she was quick to move and start coming up with a plan.

“If you don’t mind me askin your highness but, what the hay just happened?” Applejack questioned.

“Oh that’s easy!” Pinkie chimed in, “So Discord stole the elements with his super crazy magic and then he showed up and kidnapped Twilight and left this little note on the floor!”

Celestia quickly picked up the note with her magic and read it.

“What’s it say Princess?” Rainbow Dash asked.

“’To retrieve your missing Elements, just make sense of this change of events. Twists and turns are my master plan. Then find the Elements back where you began.’”

“Oh this is gonna be fun! It’s like a scavenger hunt!” Pinkie exclaimed.

“Except if we don’t win the world will become a circus show,” the blue Pegasus sarcastically added, “So, where do we start?”

“Um…” a small voice peeped out, “Maybe we should start in the castle’s garden maze? Since it says ‘twists and turns’. I mean I could be wrong but you know…”

“Y’know what? You might be right Fluttershy,” Applejack responded.

“Come on then let’s get a move on!” Rainbow Dash shouted.

Celestia marvelled at the co-operation between the five ponies and felt relieved to know that she chose wisely.

“You comin’ with us Princess?” the brash Pegasus asked, “We could probably use some magic firepower.”

The alicorn was a little astonished as she wasn’t used to ponies asking for help directly but she dutifully accepted, “Very well. I shall come along and assist in any way I can.”

Discord had already changed most of Equestria. One look through a window confirmed that. It was dangerous, and while the five bearers may be able to fight, Celestia worried about them being overwhelmed. Worse, Discord appearing to interrupt or toy with them remained a serious possibility.

The group of heroes arrived at the entrance of the castle garden, ready for any zany obstacle that would be hurtled at them. Fortunately the garden was left mostly untouched, although the hedge maze appeared to look vastly larger than it did from inside the castle.

Celestia looked towards the left, where the pedestal that used to carry Discord’s stone body was. She still hadn’t quite figured out how he escaped but she had a couple of theories. It reminded her of when Twilight broke free of her stasis and caused a panic.

They arrived at the entrance of the expansive maze and everypony excluding the alicorn gasped.

“W-We have to go in there?” the yellow pegasus quivered.

“Nope! Dopey Discord forgot about these babies!” Rainbow Dash said already heading towards the sky, “I'll just do a quick flyover and we'll have the Elements in no time.”

A flash on the sides of her body stopped her flight as she fell straight to the ground.

“My wings!” she screamed.

More screams were heard from Rarity and Fluttershy while a gasp was elicited from Celestia as their racial body parts disappeared.

Under the arch at the entrance of the maze, a ball of light appeared which Discord popped out from, standing at full height, laughing maniacally.
