It was a nice summer day in Canterlot. While most of the 13 year-olds were outside with friends, sense it was Summer Break after all, Twilight preferred to stay in her private suite on the castle grounds where nopony could bother her while she was studying. Her assistant in training, Spike, was taking his mid-afternoon nap as she read over some of her school books for the 3rd time sense school ended, which was about two weeks ago, when there was a knock on the door. Twilight sighed as she got up from her desk and opened the door. "Hello, my most faithful student!" Twilight's private mentor, Princess Celestia, beamed as Twilight opened the door.

"Oh, Hello Princess! Please, come in." Twilight greeted with a smile as the majestic tall white alicorn with her flowing mane slowly walked into Twilight's suite. Twilight sat on her small couch while Celestia sat on the larger one. "So, why did you pay me visit, Princess?" Twilight asked her mentor who was looking around her suite as if she had never seen it before.

"Well I was wondering if you were at home." The princess said bluntly as if her reason was obvious.

Twilight smiled awkwardly as she messed with her bangs, "Well... where else would I be?"

The princess shrugged unsurely, "Well, I don't know! Out with friends...um, on a date with some colt, at least at home with family!" Twilight sighed as she thought of doing all those things.

"But all those activities sound...well, noneducational, and quite ignorant too."

Celestia stood up and gave Twilight an irritated look, "Well Twilight. I don't know what's wrong with you! You need to do something with other ponies. I can't just make time to have tea with you." The princess said as she headed over to front door.

"Well what do you want me to do princess? Does it count if I go out with Spike?" Twilight asked her mentor as she followed the white alicorn.

"No! I want you to go out and do something. Make friends, go on a date, get drunk! I don't care! You can go get pregnant for pony's sake! Just go out! And if I catch you in the room in two hours or even in the local library, so help me Twilight Sparkle, I will hurt you!" The princess said before she walked out and slammed the door behind her.

Twilight sighed once more as the sound of hoofsteps went down the long winding steps of the tower in which she stayed in. The purple unicorn walked back over to her desk and pushed her books aside. She then pulled out a piece of paper along with a quill and ink. She used her magic to write a quick note to Spike:

Dear Spike,

For the rest of the day I will be out on the town. (Princess' orders) I might be out for I while. So for the time that I'm gone do your chores and then you can go out too.

Yours Truly, Twilight Sparkle

Twilight then folded up the note and put it in an envelope which she sealed and wrote Spike on the front. Twilight headed for the bathroom so she could brush her indigo, violet, and fuchsia mane with her bangs in a perfect rectangular shape the rest of her mane which was also in a rectangular shape. Twilight turned to look at her tail which looked fine. Before Twilight left she filled her saddle bag with some bits and a couple a legends to read if she doesn't meet any friends. "I guess I'm all set." Twilight whispered to herself as she headed out the door and into the city.

Twilight walked through the very sophisticated town of Canterlot blindly. Not knowing which way she was headed or where she was going at all really put a toll on the young Twilight Sparkle. As Twilight walked around she ran into a pony. "Ugh! Look at her mane! It's absolutely dreadful! And she dares run into you honey!" Twilight heard a filly scream. Twilight opened her eyes to see a tall white unicorn with lavender eyes and a long pink mane looking at her in disgust, behind her three other fillies who did the same, and on the floor a white muscular unicorn colt with a blue mane who was looking at her back.

"I am so, sorry really! I wasn't paying attention-" Twilight started but was cut of by the colt.

"Oh, it's alright dear, I wasn't paying attention either. I was listening to this one blabbing about something." The colt rolled his eyes as he pointed at the mare with the long pink mane. Twilight giggled, at the colt who looked a bit older than her. "Say, are you new here?" The colt asked.

"Oh no. I've lived in Canterlot my whole life! I just don't got out much. You see I live in the castle with Princess Celestia, beca-" Twilight was cut off again. The for fillies gasped and the colt raised and eyebrow,

"You live in the castle, with the Princess?" He asked.

Twilight nodded as if it were no big deal, "Indeed. I live with her because she's my personal mentor and tutor." The lavender unicorn said with a smile.

"Well we should hang out more miss..." the colt asked reaching out to shaking Twilight's hoof.

"Twilight Sparkle." the unicorn smiled and shook the stallions' hoof.

"Nice to meet you. I'm Fancypants. Let's meet at the café near the castle around noon tomorrow okay?" Fancypants grinned. "I'll meet you there." Twilight grinned back. "It sounds like a date." Fancypants said before slowly trotting off.

Twilight smiled to herself as she trotted off in a different way than Fancypants, "This is so exciting! I have a date with a cute colt and I made one, maybe four new enemies!" Twilight almost squealed from the excitement. Twilight soon stopped in her tracks as she saw a group of fillies from her school. She took a deep breath and whispered to herself, "You can do this Twilight." She slowly trotted up to the group of unicorns who were talking to each other. Twilight was only three feet away from the fillies when she had a panic attack and ran away from the party of prating ponies and to the Canterlot Central Park where the perfect bench sat by a soothing water fountain.

Twilight galloped to the bench so she could have it to herself. When she got to the bench Twilight laid herself across it and pulled out The Legend of the Headless Horse. As she read she hummed a little song which was interrupted by a light blue unicorn colt with an aqua marine colored mane and the most beautiful eyes that was the purist of blues.

"I see your reading The Legend of the Headless Horse, it's one of my favorite books." The colt said with a smile. Twilight's heart jumped when she realized how handsome the colt was and how smart he seemed.

"Um...It's one of my favorites too. I've read it around 40 times."

The colt smiled wider, "Same here. Do you mind if I sit?" He asked. "No not at all." Twilight smiled awkwardly as she sat up on the bench so the colt could sit. "I'm Asteroid by the way." The colt grinned.

" I'm Twilight Sparkle."

The two stood there in silence for a while. "So are you new here?" Asteroid asked.

Twilight groaned, "Why does everypony keep asking me that?!? I guess it's because I've never been out of the cas-" the lavender pony started to rant but was stopped by Asteroid's hoof touching hers. Twilight looked into Asteroid's eyes and he was looking into hers. Twilight blushed and so the Asteroid which suddenly started to lean it slowly. Is he trying to kiss me? Should I do it?, Twilight asked herself before she leaned in too.

Soon the to ponies' lips touched and where then pulled apart by the two ponies. "I am so sorry! I don't know what got into me! I guess I just felt we had a connection. " Asteroid blushed as he blabbered.

"No apologies, I kind of liked it." Twilight blushed too.

"So... what do you want to name your kinds when you have some?" Asteroid said trying to strike up a conversation.

"Um... I've never thought of it. I guess if a filly, Galaxy and a colt... well I don't know. What about you?" Twilight asked.

"Well for a colt I would use Comet, for a filly Venus." Asteroid smiled, "I guess we're both into astronomy."

Twilight nodded, "Yes, my father is an astronomer at the Observatory, he got me started. Now occasionally I go star gazing by myself because my assistant in training can't stay up late." Twilight said to her first friend.

"I love stargazing. See at my school we have a stargazing club but I'm the only one in it." Asteroid said sadly.

"Well if I went to your school I would obviously join your club." Twilight beamed trying to cheer Asteroid up. Asteroid looked at Twilight and smiled.

"Hey, we should go stargazing tonight. The sky is supposed to be clear until tomorrow morning." Asteroid suggested. Twilight looked at the sky for the sun which was almost down.

"Okay sounds fun! I'll meet you at the edge of town at 10 o'clock sharp!" Twilight said with a smile.

Asteroid nodded, "I'll see you there, Goodbye Twilight Sparkle." He said before he ran off.

"Goodbye Asteroid!" She waved before she headed back for the castle.

Twilight smiled as she started to pack her bag for her and Asteroid's stargazing date tonight. "So did you meet anyone new?" A voice asked Twilight from behind. Twilight turned to see the princess smiling at her.

"Oh yes, I've met a friend named Asteroid which I'm headed to meet right now, I have a date with a colt named Fancypants and I've made four new enemies with four rude fillies." Twilight smiled as she folded up her telescope and placed it in her saddle bag.

"I am very proud of you my little pony. Just remember some friendships turn into something much more." Celestia said with a smirk as she headed towards the door, "And tell your friend to start off steady."

Twilight gasped and started to blush uncontrollably, "You saw what happened?"

The princess nodded, "Well, I had to make sure you weren't just out reading. Goodbye." The princess said before she left Twilight's suite.

"Here's the book you wanted Princ-. Hey, where's the princess go?" Spike said throwing a large book into the air.

"Spike! What have I told you about throwing books!" Twilight scolded as she caught the book in her magic grasp and pulled it towards her. "Why would the Princess need my books? They're all just copies of her's." Twilight mumbled before she read the title. 'All Things Astronomy'. Twilight rolled her eyes as she put the book in her saddlebag. "Spike! What does the time look like?" Twilight asked.

Spike looked at the clock, "It looks like 9:15." Twilight smiled to herself from the thought of being alone with Asteroid possibly all night.

"Well I got to go but don't wait for me I might be out all night." Twilight said before leaving Spike in the suite.
L As Twilight walked towards the end of town she past a local bakery which was selling star shaped cookies. Twilight entered the bakery with a grin plastered on her face. She trotted up to the counter, "A dozen of those delicious looking star cookies please!"

The clerk nodded as she grabbed thirteen of the star cookies and put them in a box, "A baker's dozen for ya. Five bits please. " The clerk said with a smile. Twilight gave the clerk five bits and put the box of cookies in her saddlebag.

"Thank you." Twilight chimed before she left the store.

It was exactly 9:59 when Twilight arrived in the field at the edge of Canterlot. She pulled out her picnic blanket and laid it out on the grass. She sat there in silence wondering why Asteroid had consumed all her thoughts and why she thought she had consumed all of his thoughts. Soon she heard hoof steps headed towards her. Twilight turned her head to see Asteroid galloping towards her with a saddlebag of his own. Twilight's broke into a smile as she looked at her stopwatch,"You're 30 seconds late Asteroid." Twilight joked as the stallion laid next to her.

"Well I just wanted to reread my 'All Things Astronomy' book just in case I didn't know as much as you." The colt said as he pulled out the same exact book Twilight had.

"Well I didn't reread mine." Twilight said as she pulled out her book and placed it next to his. The two laughed for a bit and then they both pulled out their telescopes. "Oh, and I brought cookies." Twilight beamed as she pulled the box of cookies out of her bag. "They're star shaped so I thought they would be festive enough."

Asteroid smiled, "Well how thoughtful of you. I might be just as thoughtful because I brought Out of This World brand soda pop. Which is just as festive." The two laughed as they started to share their snacks with each other."So tell me about yourself Twilight." Asteroid said with a mouth full of cookies.

"Well I already told you about my father, my mother, which I'm named after, is a stay at home mom, my brother is a royal guard I think he'll make a good captain, and Princess Celestia is my personal mentor."

Asteroids eyes grew wide, "That's amazing Twilight! I always wanted to go to Princess Celestia's school for gifted unicorns but my parents can't afford it." The blue colts face drooped.

"It doesn't cost a thing! You just have to past the test and I can tell you can." Asteroid smiled at what Twilight said.

"That reminds me. I was wondering if you could help me with a school project that we have to do over the summer."

Twilight almost burst with excitement, "Sure what is it."

Asteroid said this awkwardly, "Well you see. It's an home economics project and we have to raise a foal over the summer. I know it sounds odd but we also have to stay in the same house and everything." Asteroid said as he pulled a rubric from his bag for Twilight to read over. The lavender unicorn felt a surge of pride that Asteroid had picked her for the assignment. "I'll do it after this we can head back to my place after you graph your things and inform your parents. But where will we get a foal from? Is it a doll?" Twilight asked.

Asteroid shook his head no as he pulled out a sheet of paper and a plastic tube. "What we do is we both spit into this tube and we perform a magic spell together." He explained before he opened the tube's lid and spit into it. Twilight looked at the tube in disgust but spat into anyways. Then the two held the tube in their magic grasp. "Now we chant the words: Fikisa us a ithole. Three times."

Twilight nodded. "Fkisa us a ithole, fikisa us a ithole, fikisa us a ithole!" The two chanted.

The tube then started to glow and change form. Then it started to make a crying noise and out popped a blue unicorn foal which Asteroid caught. "It's a colt. What should we name him?" Asteroid asked Twilight.

"Comet. He'll be our Comet." Twilight felt pride take over her as she said that. Comet looked so much like Asteroid besides the streaks Blur Motif in his mane and tail. "He's beautiful." Twilight whispered as she got a better look at the newborn foal. In another flash or two there was a stroller and a bag full of baby supplies in the field with them. Twilight placed Comet into the stroller gently. She looked at Asteroid who was already done packing the astronomy supplies.

"Let me go tell my parents and we can go to your place." Asteroid said and Twilight agreed.
