Aaron gets taken to ponyville overnight, and deciedes to set off to explore equestria
Aaron, a human male, gets taken to equestria one night after falling asleep, and decied he will travel around equestria and beyond, because he wants to see the beauty in this world, to forget the ugliness of his old one.
If you had the chance to go anywhere in the world, or any other worlds, but the cost is that you can never go back, would you do it? I would. This probably relates to living in a broken household, with a drunk for a father and a mom who was abused by him. of course my mom was the only one working, I need to focus on school, and my dad had a blood alcohol level too high to drive at any time, so it was pretty hard for him to even get a job, much less hold one. So where would I go? Equestria, plain and simple. Why? Because it’s so nice. Having friends and being able to make them quickly isn’t a trait you learn on the streets. What you do learn is who has an older brother that can beat you up with one hand and leg tied behind his back, or a sister that can ruin your life for the next 2 years, without even blinking an eye. You learn not to look anyone even slightly bigger than you, and how to fight against a small gang of people attempting to steal your money, even when they have a knife, without getting hurt too bad. And basic first aid, knife wounds can be pretty nasty, even if they aren’t trying to kill. So yeah, friends aren’t a very plentiful resource around here. That’s why I want to leave. Go to Equestria and not even look back. That was my one true wish, being able to make friends. All I have to say is be careful what you wish for.
Cold, that’s all I felt. Why was it so cold? The last thing I remember was going to sleep in my bed, after sneaking the season 5 finale of MLP. So why was it so cold? Being in a bed with covers on it should be warm right? I’ll just grab the covers and pull them up. The only problem is that there are no covers. Not bothering to worry, I figured I just knocked them off in my sleep. I reach down beside me to grab the covers, and grab a handful of very frayed, kind of sharp, waxy stuff. Huh. Pulling I found out it made a ripping noise… and I got a face full of dirt. “What the…?” getting the dirt out of my eyes I sat up and opened them, and realized I was sitting in the middle of a field in my recently awakened stupor. As I figured that one of my friends had snuck in and put me outside as a poor to prank me. My one friend had a very particular fondness to pranking us. “Stupid Colin. He should know better to put me outside at night in this area. I stood up to go inside, but realized that there was no house to go into. Wondering where it went I just stood there. Then I realized I was in a big open field on top of a field. It was still dark so I couldn’t see anything, but I could hear that there was a gathering below the field. Then it happened. The moon sunk below the horizon like it was scared of the other celestial body following it, the sun which jumped to where the moon was, quicker than a flash and a large purple star exploded in the sky, with 6 miniature white stars in a strange pattern appearing with it. After I got over my shock, I smiled, I know what this was. This was the summer sun celebration. Princess Luna must have dropped the moon quickly so that the sun could be raised to its place quicker than normal. Then twilight took off and created her cutie mark, like she did on the summer sun celebration. The only reason I realized this was because I saw that this year the celebration was being held in Ponyville, which any person who watched the show more than twice would recognize. I smiled realizing this was a dream. I jumped up and imagined flying, so that I could get down faster. All I did was fall and roll down the hill, and it was kinda painful, and the hill went all the way down to the platform. Standing up and brushing myself off, I looked up to find myself surrounded by a half circle of Celestia’s and Luna’s royal guards. Not a very good way to start a very good dream.
“You are to be taken into custody you wretched changeling. After what you did last time your kind showed its face here, and with such a bad disguse too. You should know that no humans have existed in equestrian for hundreds of years.” A guard who seemed to be higher ranking sneered.
“What do you mean? I’m a human, not a changeling.” I stated. I figured if I was going to have a bad dream, I figured why not start it off even worse, I mean I guess that having a dream about escaping an equestrian jail would be fun. The guard opened his mouth, but I didn’t get to figure out what he was going to say as I was knocked unconcise as 3 bolts of incredibly powerful magic struck me in the chest at once.
Waking up in what seemed like a few minutes, I realized it must have been much longer as I woke up in a hospital at sunset with 3 concerned and worried princesses looking at me. I realized I must not be dreaming, because usually after falling asleep in a dream you wake up in real life. Sitting up, I felt a pain in my chest and flopped back down quickly. Seeing my chest was wrapped, I figured that those magic bolts came from Luna, Celestia, and Twilight.
“Hello there human. We are very sorry for injuring you, but a single changeling can infest a population and destroy them from the inside out. We messed up when using our revealing spell we developed after the attack on Canterlot, but I guess we all thought of the same thing at the same time, resulting in you getting a triple dose of power, and sending you to sleep for a few weeks, and flying a quite a few feet.”
“So I’m really in Equestria? This is a bit of a shock.” I stated. “Scratch that, this is amazing and horrifying at the same time. I mean unless you can get me back to my, I’m assuming dimension, I’m stuck here, but I don’t really want to have to live on the street, or return to my drunk of a father at least.”
“So I take it that’s your way of saying your fine with staying in equestria?” Twilight stated.
“Yeah, although I do want to say one thing. I don’t know if you know this, but where I come from, you aren’t real, and are a TV show meant to entertain little girls.” I stated with a blank face, I wanted to see their reactions when they realized this.
“Wait, what?!” all 4 of them screamed at once. Just the reaction I was hoping for.
“Yeah,” I replied. “So if the shows I saw were accurate to this world, I know a little bit more about you than you know about me.”
“Like what?” Twilight demanded
“Like the fact that you were once a unicorn, who ascended to alicorn status after completing a spell your idol, Star Swirl the Bearded couldn’t perfect, because he didn’t have any friends, oh, and you wore a costume of him and no’pony’ knew who you were. I also know that you went to Canterlot high and fought sunset shimmer, who then became instrumental in helping you fight off the sirens, and then met an alternate version of yourself after she caused chaos in the friendship games, who your friends from canterlot high, where they thought she was you for a little bit.” I said and smiled in her direction. “If the show was accurate then you should see that I wasn’t lying. If I only had my phone, I could show you, I have most of the shows on it.”
“That’s…” Twilight started before losing any train of thought. Great I broke her, I thought.
“Do you mean this device, human?” asked Celestia. “The guard found it on the ground after I informed you weren’t a changeling. We have been trying to figure it out what it does since we knocked you out.”
“Yeah, that’s it.” I stated “And my name is Aaron, not human. How do you even know what a human is anyway?”
“They used to live on an island not too far from the eastern edge of our border, but then the dragons came and they revolted. Of course the dragons easily wiped all except a few of the humans out. They in turn came to Equestria to seek shelter, but it turns out pony pox is very deadly to humans, due to the lack of tolerance to the disease. This took out the last of the humans on this planet.”
“Wow. When can I leave the hospital? I need to get a job, I want to explore this world the most that I can. Imagine all the amazing things that I will be the first human in years to experience.”
“Not years, centuries.”
“That long ago they were wiped out?”
“Yes, and just to let you know, there is a mare in ponyville that is obsessed with humans and their hands…” said Twilight, and winced “You might want to avoid her if at all possible.”
“So even some of the fan ideas are real? That’s a useful fact.”
“There are fan stories? I thought that the audience was little girls?”
“It technically is, but because to the ‘references’ to the more mature things, the ‘animation’ and the story it has gathered a HUGE, and I mean HUUUUGE audience of people outside of the intended audience, guys and sometimes girls are called bronies, and the girls are sometimes called pegasisters. It’s a really great community.”
“Ok…, anyway you should be able to get out tomorrow morning, and I will leave a little money for you to get on your feet and find a house. That will be my way of saying sorry that I hurt you.” Celestia told me.
“Thank you princess, I’ll figure out some way to pay you back, I just don’t know how long it will take.”
“That’s fine Aaron. I’m looking forward to it” she said, and with a smile over her shoulder, took off out of the room, leaving me with 2 other alicorn princesses to deal with.
“So why are you two still here? I’m happy for the company, but I’m still kinda wondering what demi-goddesses want to do with me.”
“Well we were going to tell you about equestria and ponyville, but it seems you wont need that introduction anymore, does it?” said luna. “I guess not. The only thing I really need is a map of equestria and ponyville.”
“We can get you those if you so wish, and it will be our way of repaying you for the trouble we have caused.” she too then left the room, but quickly stuck her head back in, “Just have spike send me a letter with your new address, and I will send you both a wall copy and a pocket copy.”
“Thank you princess Luna, that will be a big help.” I replied and she left for real this time.
“Help with what?” Twilight asked.
“Traveling all around Equestria and the surrounding area,” I replied. “I want to see everything, from canterlot, to ponyville, to the furthest most dangerous area out there. I want to meet everyone and every species that there is to see. I want to see even things that the princesses have forgotten, and that they never even knew of. This is a whole new world where there are so many things to see and do, why stay in one place for too long. I will say this will be where I come when I’m done.”
“And how are you going to do that? The time it will take to get around Equestria itself will be enormous!” Twilight quickly replied.
“I know, and I’m fine with it. I got sucked into this world from misery, so I’m fine to go through a little more, to see the beauty this world has to offer.”
“Ok Aaron, well since the other princesses have each given you gifts for hurting you, I will give you one too. I will help you in any way I can to help your trip around equestria and beyond.”
“Thank you Twilight. Now if you will excuse me I have to get some sleep so I can find a job. Unless Celestia decides to give me more than she said, I doubt that it will be enough to even finance my first leg out of here, and I have to study the cultures and geography of this place.”
“Then I guess I’ll see you at the library tomorrow, oh, and watch out for pinkie-“she started.
“Welcome party?”
“Yeah, it can be pretty traumatic.”
“I know” I replied.
“Bye then, I guess.”
“Thanks twilight. I will be at the library tomorrow, as soon as I get out.” And with that, Twilight left and I went to sleep, ready to start another day in equestria.
The first thing I noticed after leaving the hospital was how fresh everything was. The air was crisp, smelled great, and just made me happy. the ground and walls of buildings had no soot on them, and the water under the bridge i was on was so clear. I realised to pull off my dream I would need four things. The first was money; bits, gryphs, and what ever other kinds of money that equestria had created. The second thing would be supplies; armor, weapons, food, water, maps, first aid, and a way to carry it all. The third thing would be training; how to use everything that i would need on my journey. The final thing i needed was information. To get everything I figured that I would stay in ponyville for three years. The first two would be good for getting information and bits. Celestia left me enough for a small house, so I decied I should start there. So I went to town hall and looked at the listings, and got the cheapest house that would suit my needs. I also got a bed, fridge, table, a few chairs, and some dishes. that would be all I needed, and the less I spent on my house the more i could spend on leaving in a little bit. That took me a few days, and once I had a house I decieded it was time to look for a job. The most ideal one would be a blacksmith, as I could probably get a discount when I went to buy things, and it would probably strengthen me with the work that it would take. I had Twilight send Luna my adress, and she had the maps to me within the day. I got a full wall map of all of equestria, and another full wall map that allowed me to see any part of Equestria that i wanted in a better detail. She also sent me a crystal. I thought that it was just a gift, but after i wiped it off it shot out a beam from the tip that quickly widened to show a map of ponyville, and about a mile around it.
"huh" I said under my breath.
The note that I found after I figured out how the map worked said that is showed a mile radius around wherever I was, and not just ponyville! I guess Twilight must have also told Luna about what i was planning to do. So I had my job for money, and it payed pretty good. I also had a source for my supplies covered with that job. I figured I could get some books from twilight for the information. So it seems that things are going pretty good. The only other thing i needed was training, but I could get that later, and besides, I needed to know what I would be best for self defense out there. I went home and went to sleep, planning to get to my job and take care of it as fast as possible, so i could get some more information on the world around me. With that thought, I drifted off to sleep.
Ive been here for two years now. Ive gotten stronger, I have a decent amount of money, and i've done alot of research about this place. Ive learned about the magic in this world, and I realised there are a few good weapons. Crossbows are good if you can't do magic, and warhammers are the best if you can use them effictively. I can't, sadly. I realised choosing one weapon wouldn't be a good idea, but having too many would be a disaster. I decied to choose one weapon for large groups and one for smaller groups. I chose a scythe and a combat knife. I have been training in them for about a year at this point. I forged the knife, so it fits in my hand great, and has the perfect balance for me. the scythe I bought from some traveling minotaurs. When I saw the blade on it, and how it looked, I knew that would be my main weapon.
I also plotted out my course that I would take. I would go to Griffinstone, then loop back up to the minotaur area, still going back I would pass through the Crystal empire and travel up into Yak Yakistan. After that I would go back to the empire for a little bit. I would then travel south and pass through some of the major cities, then go a little west to the Minotaur lands. after that I would go southeast to the badlands and then go back to Apple Loosa, and take a train back to Ponyville and decide what to do from there. I decied to leave out the dragons because from what i've heard, they aren't very nice.
I also decied that I would stay for another one or two years so that I could learn about their culture, and work to earn more money. I would stay in the badlands for a month or two, but not really any longer than that. There are no real towns there because that's where the changelings are rumored to be. i hoped to avoid them, but if i truely wanted to see everything there would be that risk that i would have to take.
The next day after I got back from work, I realised that my package had arrived. A set of custom made armor, infused leather, which is stronger and more flexable than regular leather. Infused leather could normally withstand a crossbow bolt without taking too much damage, but almost all melee weapons would make it through. I wanted to reduce my mobility as little as possible, because that was a huge advantage to having a scythe and knife. I did get a set of "metor glass" goggles, allowing me to see through all forms of invisibility, deception, and camoflage magic. I was too tired to even try on my armor tonight, and planning that I would talk to twilight about putting runes on my armor, I smiled and went to bed.
The day was finally here. I was about to set off from ponyville, and begin my journey around the world. I was ecstatic. It did take a little longer than expected though. I finally got everything i needed after 3 and 1/2 years. The reason it took so long was because of my backpack. I ordered one that was much larger than the company had in stock, so they had to special order it, and it took way too long, and the company kept messing my order up.
The first thing that i did was go to the bank and pulled out almost all of my bits. I was planning on coming back to ponyville, but that was in a long time. I took out enough to get to griffinstone and live for awhile, but left enough that in a few years I could come back empty handed and live comfortably for the rest of my life.
The second thing i did was go to Twilight's and pick up my armor. I had cashed in my favor with twilight to get my armor enchanted, but with nothing too big. The main enchantments were that the boots and hands could not stand on clouds, don't want to miss anything because i would fall through clouds right? The other thing was that my right gauntlet was special. when i was talking with Twilight i realized that unicorn horns are used as more of a focus point rather than a wand. that's right, Twilight helped me learn magic, but i could only do it with my gauntlet on. It wasn't that i had trouble focusing, but more of the fact that I needed a conduit. i had almost twice the amount of Mana in my body though, considering that i was almost twice as tall and heavy that made sense though. i was only able to learn basic levitation before i decided it was time to leave. some enchantments took minutes, like a cloud walking spell, and some took days, like the binding and locking enchantments that Twilight was putting on it. the binding spell kept it on my hand unless i took it off, and the locking spell meant that no other creature could put it on except for me.
"Hey Twilight! You finish with the enchantments yet?" I asked as i arrived at her house
"Yeah Aaron. Just in time too. I hope you like them!"
"Thanks Twi. You've been a huge help in getting me ready. I still feel like i should pay you."
"No Aaron. I promised you a favor, and you used it here. besides i doubt even you could afford that enchantment cost." i forgot to mention that Twilight had started a business of enchanting items while i was here, so she could finance her book habit.
"OK Twi, I'll see you at the station soon!"
"See you there Aaron!" And with that, i left to get the other supplies i needed. I kept my armor in my backpack for now, i didn't want to be walking around wearing a full set of enchanted armor. i went home and got my scythe, my knife, and the sheaths for each. i also picked up my tent and non perishable supplies. Finally i got my lighter. I had sold human technology to twilight for things to make my life easier, and this was one of them. this lighter was like a zippo, but i could swap between regular fire, for a cooking and heating fire, or messenger fire, like spikes, to send letters to almost anypony in the world, as long as i knew their name and what they looked like. i only sold her simpler and not as harmful things like the lighter, i had blueprints for everything from mp3 players to full out machine guns, but i didn't want to introduce the world to things like guns yet, even if it gave me a huge advantage. the cost would be too big for that.
I pushed those thoughts out of my mind and started going to the town market. luckily a griffin caravan was in town, and they sold beef jerky. the reason i was buying that was because it stayed for a long time. needless to say, i bought all of the jerky they had. The next stop was to go to the market, and pick up other supplies that wouldn't stay as long. I bought some apples from Applejack, because hers were the best in Equestria, and some chocolate from Pinkie. i bought the chocolate because it wouldn't be a bad idea to have some comfort food. I finished gathering all the supplies I needed, i headed off to the train station and met Twilight.
"Hey Twilight! Thanks for coming to see me off."
"So you're really doing this Aaron?"
"Yeah Twi. Don't worry i'll be safe."
"I hope you know what your getting yourself into."
"Twi. you know how much research i put into this trip, and it will only take me a little bit. I have to catch my train, but i'll make sure to write you frequently, OK?"
"Yeah that would make me feel better. I want to see letters on as regular a basis as possible."
"OK Twi, now i really have to go."
"See you in a little while Aaron." and with that with that final statement from Twilight, I got on the train and started on my journey, heading out to griffinstone station.
