She had just finished interviewing a baker about a challenge that they had accepted: baking 1,000,000 cookies. Normally, it might not have been a challenge, but they were tight staffed, and people were going to be coming in all week. "Hey Fluttershy! You're going already?" the boss asked, coming out of the door. "Yes," Fluttershy said. "Ok. Oh, when we complete this challenge, feel free to come over and get some cookies! We're going to have a ton of cookies. Maybe even 2 tons!" the baker exclaimed happily. Fluttershy smiled. "I'll see if I can!" she said as she shut the doors to her van. She opened the door to the drivers seat, climbed in and shut the door. Man, I wish there was another way to get a ton of money, she thought to herself as she started the car. These animals need a lot of stuff to stay happy. She continued through the streets of Manehatten and decided to get some quick take out, and stopped at a small pizza parlor. She got a little parmesan for the slices she got, paid, and started driving down a back road, which was quicker to her house. Until she thought she heard someone scream. She slammed the brakes (fortunately no one was behind her) and started listening for another scream. About ten seconds passed, and Fluttershy started to think she had just imagined it when there was another scream. It was coming from an alleyway ahead of her. She grabbed the neared thing near her protection, which just so happened to be the plastic plate she had used for her pizza and then grabbed flashlight. Man, why do I have to be so nice? she thought as she turned the corner. She started to hear what sounded like crying, and she advanced even more. Suddenly, there was the sound of punches landing, and after a couple of seconds, some laughter. "Oh man, he totally did not see that coming!" a voice said. "Yeah!" coursed some others. Oh! Vigilantes! Tho could make good news! she thought as she turned on her flashlight. What she saw freaked her out. So much so that she fainted. The last thing she saw was a pair of green, three fingered hands catch her. "So, who do you think she is?" a voice asked. Fluttershy was starting to wake up, and that had been the first thing she had heard. "I don't know! Does she have a wallet on her? She might have an I.D or something," another voice asked. She could feel herself being moved, and a hand slipped into her back pocket. Oh, god. Should I move? Fluttershy thought. "I think I found it!" yet another voice said. Ok, maybe not right now! Fluttershy thought. There was some flipping. "It says her name is Fluttershy." There was some more flipping. "Looks like she's a reporter." "Ok, that's nice, but what happens when she wakes up? Or if Master Twilight comes back?" one of the voices asked. "Then she would say that we should tell her," said a new voice. The others gasp. There was some shuffling. "Master Twilight, we did not know you would be back so soon," one of them said. "Rarity! You should know that if you guys bring a topsider down here, we must tell them!" Twilight said. "Are you sure?" asked Rarity. "Yes. You brought her down here because she saw you and fainted, right?" Twilight asked. There was a slightly awkward silence for a few seconds until one of them finally spoke. "Yes. But she did have pizza!" one of them said. Twilight sighed. "Pinkie, you and your pizza. Anyway, we should wait until she's awa.... how long have you been awake?" Twilight asked. Fluttershy stopped breathing for a few seconds. "I know you're awake, you know," Twilight said. "Ok! Yes, I am awake, please don't hurt me!" Fluttershy cried as she sat up. What she saw almost made her faint again. Who she was looking at were the 4 humanoid turtles from before, wearing different colored masks. But this time they were bowing to a humanoid rat. So she did the only thong any sane person would do. She screamed. After a few seconds, she stopped and just stared at them, breathing heavy. "So, I suppose you want to know how we became like this don't you?" Twilight asked. Fluttershy nodded. "It's actually really quite simply. We were animals at a pet shop, but we got thrown out, and we landed in this strange goo-like stuff, and we mutated," Twilight said. "And you fight crime?" Fluttershy asked. "Yes," Twilight said. "Ok. No offense, but when am I going to get to go home?" Fluttershy asked. "I don't know. I think I heard Rarity saying that you were a reporter. Is that true?" asked Twilight. "Yes," said Fluttershy. "Then I'm not sure if we can let you go," said Twilight. Fluttershy jumped up. "Why not?" she asked, starting to freak out even more. "Because you might report us to the press, and then people would come down here and experiment on us, or put us in a zoo," said the one wearing a red mask. "Ok, good point, but I need to take care of my animals!" Fluttershy said. "You take care of animals? Twilight asked. "Yes. Why?" asked Fluttershy. "That might come in handy. Ok, Rainbow Dash, escort Fluttershy to her house so she can bring these animals and whatever they might need," Twilight said. "Ok," said Rainbow Dash, the one wearing the red mask. "You want me to bring my animals here?" Fluttershy asked, confused. "Yes," said Twilight. "Ok, but I must say that it may take more than one trip to get them all here," said Fluttershy. "Ok, just bring them!" Twilight said. "Are you sure? Some of them can be kind of wild, and may take a while to get used to you," said Fluttershy. "You think that's bad, wait until you know these guys more!" said Twilight. > The pet collection > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rainbow Dash had to blindfold Fluttershy and carry her back to the surface, partly because Fluttershy didn't know the way back, and partly because they didn't trust her enough to tell her the path to the surface. As Rainbow Dash carried Fluttershy, Fluttershy noticed that there was an always present bad smell, almost like sewage. "Are we in the sewer?" Fluttershy asked. "Is it really that obvious?" asked Rainbow Dash. "Oh frick, I don't think I was supposed to tell you that!" Rainbow Dash said as she removed the sewer grate and put Fluttershy on the ground. "Did I really guess right?" asked Fluttershy. Rainbow Dash sighed. "Yes. By the way, you can take the blindfold of," she said. They got in the car, and Fluttershy started the van. Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy were driving in a slightly awkward silence. "So, how old are you?" Fluttershy asked. Rainbow Dash looked confused. "What?" she (at least, Fluttershy thought she was a she) asked. "What, you don't know how old you are?" Fluttershy asked in surprise and partially alarmed. How does someone not know how old they are? she wondered briefly before thinking Twilight probably didn't know it was important. "You don't know when you were born?" Fluttershy asked. "Is that important?" Rainbow Dash asked. "Usually. Eh, maybe Twilight knows," said Fluttershy. They continued to Fluttershy's house in silence, and when Fluttershy parked the van, Rainbow Dash asked "So, you want me to help?" "I thought it wasn't safe to let other people up here see you," Fluttershy said. "Normally, yes, but if anyone asks, I can just say that I'm wearing a turtle costume as like, a mascot for something," Rainbow Dash said. "Ok, if you're sure," Fluttershy said. She opened the door to her house and was greeted with various welcoming animal noises. When Rainbow Dash stepped in, they started freaking out a bit. "Oh come on! She's ok! she's not going to hurt any of you!" Fluttershy managed to yell over the noise. To Rainbow Dash's amazement, the animals started to calm down, although they still seemed uneasy around her. "Ok, into your mobile homes!" Fluttershy said. The animals started climbing into various cages. "Mobile homes?" Rainbow Dash asked. Fluttershy blushed. "I don't like calling them cages," she explained as she closed and locked the doors. She picked up a couple of cages and opened the door to her house. She got to her van and put the cages down so she could open the back. "You need help unloading this stuff?" Rainbow Dash asked, pointing to Fluttershy's recording equipment. "Sure," said Fluttershy. Rainbow Dash started grabbing equipment and took them back into the house. When she was done, she reentered her house and picked up a couple of cages for the van. "Oh, thanks for the help," Fluttershy said. "You're welcome!" Rainbow Dash said as she placed the cages into the back of the van. They continued placing cages into the van for a while in silence until Fluttershy asked "Do you remember it?" Rainbow Dash placed another cage into the van. "Remember what?" she asked. "Mutating," Fluttershy said. "If you don't mind me asking, of course! You don't have to answer!" "Don't worry, it's ok. I sort of remember, but it's really more of a feeling. Like suddenly becoming smarter, bigger, more powerful," Rainbow Dash said. "By the way, how many pets do you have?" "Oh, I have a ton," Fluttershy said. "Don't worry, there shouldn't be too many cages left, and if we put some of the cages up front, we won't have to return!" "Ok! No offense, but I'm still a bit uneasy about trusting an topsider, but you seem ok, and Master Twilight seems to trust you, and I trust her judgment," said Rainbow Dash. "Ok. So, just a few more mobile homes, and we're done! And then we need to get the feeders," Fluttershy said. "Nice!" Rainbow Dash said as she picked up a few more cages to take to the van. Fortunately, there was enough space for all the cages, so they didn't have to put any of them up front. Then they started getting the feeders and other stuff they needed. They managed to get some of that into the back, but then they had to start putting them up front. Then they drove back to the sewer and Fluttershy turned to Rainbow Dash. "Do I have to put the blindfold back on?" she asked. "Nah, you already guessed where we were based. Besides, it'll make taking the animals and other equipment down," said Rainbow Dash." They picked up the animal feeders/waterers and started their treck back down the sewer. After a while Rainbow Dash stopped and pulled a pipe on the wall. The wall started opening up, and led them into a new part of the turtles home that she had not seen. "Wow, how big is this place?" she asked. "Pretty big. By the way, there is an entrance to an abandoned/forgotten about subway station, just so you know," the turtle Twilight had called Rarity said, appearing out of no where. Fluttershy jumped. "I surprise you? Sorry," she said. "So, you got all your animals?" "Yes, and the equipment," said Fluttershy. "Nice. Set the stuff you're holding down anywhere, and lets go get more," Rarity said. "Just let me get the others." > Chapter 3 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Wow, that is a lot of animals," Twilight said. "I know you said that you had a lot, but this much!" There were animals everywhere, exploring their new home, marking their territory, and even hiding. "Yeah, that's most people's first reaction to my pet collection," Fluttershy said. "So, what happens now?" Pinkie asked. Fluttershy shrugged. "I guess I could just check out this place. Judging by Rainbow Dash's description, this place is huge," Fluttershy said. Twilight nodded. "It is huge. You'd be surprised on how much space we need to train. We actually have an abandon subway station!" Rainbow Dash said. Across the city, in a mansion, evil was being plotted. "Master, we have finally managed to locate the vigilantes," a scout said. "Good, very good. Kill them!" a female voice said from the shadows. "But they are the experiments!" the scout said. The voice was quite. "Are you sure?" it finally asked. The scout shrugged. "Sort of. Some of the scientists are doing the math as we speak to find out if they are or not," he said. "Good. Very good. If they are the experiments, kidnap them, learn as much as you possible can about them, and then let me train against them," the voice said. "So, what do you guys eat?" Fluttershy asked. She had managed to find a place sleep comfortable, and was starting to get hungry. "Actually, I just sent Rainbow Dash out to get some pizza," Twilight said. "For some reason, they love that stuff." "Well, it is good," Pinkie said. Fluttershy frowned. "I thought it was dangerous for you to go above ground?" she asked. "Yeah, we have disguises. Of course we have to go aboveground from time to time!" Pinkie said. "Yeah, that makes sense," Fluttershy said. "Wait, where do you get the money from?" Twilight shrugged. "Eh, I hacked some rich company and made it transfer a very small amount of money to us, so we order stuff before we do go aboveground," Twilight said. "They don't notice this?" Fluttershy asked. Twilight shrugged. "I'm not really sure. They make a lot of money, and even if they did notice, we're pretty much untraceable," Twilight said. "Wow, you must be really smart!" Fluttershy said. Twilight nodded. "Well, I'm not the only one. Rarity's pretty smart too!" Twilight said. "This team needs at least one smart person," she said. "Hey!" Pinkie complained. "I'm smart! Sort of." There was the sound of some kind of door opening, and Rainbow Dash appeared. "Hey guys! The pizzas still warm! Fluttershy, I hope you like pepperoni or cheese!" she said. > Chapter 4 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- About 20 minutes after the pizza had been fought over and eaten, Fluttershy released something. "So, would it be ok if I go quit my job, or something? My boss is going to wonder why I don't show up anymore," Fluttershy said. Twilight shrugged. "I don't see why not. Applejack, why don't you go with Fluttershy? I need to stay here to make sure there are no grudge matches for the pizza," Twilight said "Sure!" Applejack said, doing a flip of the couch she had been laying on. "Am I going to need to blindfold her?" Twilight shook her head. "No. She already sort of knows the way, and she's going to be living with us," Twilight said. Applejack nodded. "Ok!" she said. Well, that was one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life, Fluttershy thought to herself as she walked out the door of the news place she worked at. Unfortunately, she had to park the van about a block away from the studio because there was no good parking, and Applejack didn't want to walk that far, no matter how good of an alibi Fluttershy had. There was some rustling in the bushes next to her, and she pulled the neck of her shirt up when she released there was no wind. She stared at the bush. "Applejack?" she asked. "I thought you were going to stay in the van?" Suddenly, there was a hand around her mouth, dragging her into a nearby ally way. Oh god! I'm going to get raped! Fluttershy thought as she tried to get out of the persons grip. I think I was close enough for Applejack to see that! I hope I was! Whoever was holding her suddenly released her, and she turned around. The man who had been holding her was bald, with scars covering his head, and he had a gold tooth. "What do you want?" she gasped. "Your cash!" the man said. "And whatever else you have in that purse of yours!" "This isn't a purse, it's a travel bag," Fluttershy said, looking at said travel bag. "Whatever! Just give me the bag!" the man yelled. Suddenly, there was a whizzing noise, and something hit the back of the mans head. He turned around to see a man in some kind of mask, holding some kind of hockey stick. "Look me in the face and tell me that you're honestly robbing a defenseless women!" he said threatening. The first man gasped. "No! It's not what it looks like! I'm just trying to survive, man!" the first man said fearfully. "What did I say about getting a job? I'm sure that there's a construction crew that would like your help!" the new man said. "Fine! I'll check it out!" the first man said, still fearful as he ran out of the other side of the ally way. Fluttershy stared at the new guy, wondering if she was in a worse scenario, or if she was in a better one, when Applejack landed in the middle of the street, cracking the ground around her. The new guy jumped back a little. Applejack spread her arms and looked at Fluttershy. "Are you ok?" she asked, glaring at the new man. "Yeah! This guy stepped in to save me! I think," Fluttershy said, doubtful. The man stepped forward. "Yeah, I came to save you. For some reason, the robbers of this area really fear me. Wow, that is a really good costume," he said. "The name's Spike by the way." He removed his mask to reveal a rugged face. He had a five o'clock shadow, and was surprisingly handsome. "This isn't a costume," Applejack said, still a bit uneasy. Spike stopped moving, and cocked his head. "Your saying that that....is real?" he asked uneasily. Applejack nodded. "Huh. There's something strangely familiar about you," Spike said. Applejack walked towards him and picked him up. "Woah, what are you doing?" he yelled as she slung him over her shoulder, like a sack. "Taking you back to base. I'm not sure if I can trust you with this information," Applejack said as she headed towards the van. "Fluttershy, start the car, please." Fluttershy nodded, got in the car, and started the engine. Applejack open the back door and threw the man in. She got in thru the back door, and closed it from the inside. "Ok, get going!" Applejack said as she locked the door. "Ok, where here!" Applejack yelled as she opened the door Rainbow Dash had used from earlier. "Sorry about the injuries, by the way." "It's ok. You don't know if I'm trustworthy yet. I am by the way, but I guess I have to prove that to you," Spike said as Pinkie appeared around the corner and gasped. "Another one?" she asked. "How many people have discovered us today?" "This was the only one," Applejack said as she set Spike onto the couch. Spike extended his arm. "Hi! I'm Spike!" he said. "I'm Pinkie," she said as she shook it. "Did I hear someone new?" Twilight called from another room. She soon entered the room that they were in, with the other girls, who gasped. "Another one? Oh well, what's your name?" Twilight asked. "My name's Spike," Spike said. "I prove no real threat unless I have my cricket stick and puck. I only have the stick." "So thats what hit that guys head!" Fluttershy said, and then started blushing. "Sorry!" "Ok, we should probably get to explaining some things and lying down some rules," Twilight said. "Did you place the tracking device?" the voice in the shadows said. "I think so. But it hasn't moved in a while," the bald man said. The voice growled. "I swear, if you've failed, there's a container of biochemicals with your name on it!" it yelled. "It's probably asleep!" he said. "For your sake I hope she is! Also, don't call her 'it'. She has a name and gender, you know!" the voice said. The man tilted his head. "Wait, you know that, but not where they are?" he asked. "Yeah, I mutated them, but someone forgot to implant tracking devices just in case," the voice said. "Now go!" > Chapter 5 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next morning, Fluttershy was woken up by the sounds of many grunts. She rolled of the couch and stood up. She followed the sounds and found the turtles practicing hand to hand combat. She leaned against the wall and watched for a while. "Impressive," Spike said, surprising Fluttershy who let out a "Eep!" "Sorry, did I scary you?" he asked. Fluttershy blushed and nodded. "Spike! Fluttershy!" Twilight called from a perch on top of a train. "Good morning! I hope you slept well!" The turtles stopped their training and started to great them. "So, what happens now?" Spike asked. Twilight shrugged. "We've never had visitors before," she said. "Besides from that one dude who kept talking about feet," Pinkie snickered. Twilight scowled. "What?" she said. "I don't remember that!" "Oh yeah, you weren't there," Pinkie said. "I think you were above ground doing something, but there was some crazy old dude in here about a year and a half ago." "What do you mean he kept talking about feet?" Twilight asked. "And why didn't you tell me about this before now?" Pinkie shrugged. "It didn't seem important," she said. "The dude was obviously slightly crazy. And he kept repeating The Foot over and over." Twilight frowned and nodded solemnly. "And this happened over a year ago?" Twilight asked. The turtles nodded. "Then he obviously didn't place a tracker in here." "Yeah, we check many times everywhere or a tracker," Rainbow Dash said. "By the way, Applejack, are you ok?" Twilight asked. Applejack stopped what she was doing, which was scratching her neck. "Yeah, why do you ask?" she asked. Twilight pointed at Applejack's neck. "You've been scratching that spot for a while," Twilight said. "Are you having some kind of allergic reaction?" "No," Applejack said, then sighed. "It's been itching sense last night." "But wh-" Twilight's sentence was cut off when several black clothes man jumped out. They were completely covered in black cloth, with red strips wrapped around their heads. The eye holes were big and bug looking, and you could not see inside the mask, but they could obviously see out of it. Twilight and the turtles gasped as Fluttershy shrieked and Spike yelled. "Who are these?" Pinkie asked as more ninja poured in from somewhere and started to encircle them. The turtles and Twilight got into fighting positions and surrounded Fluttershy and Spike. There were about 20 opposing ninja now, and thankfully, none were coming in. "A clan that I wished that I would never see again," Twilight said as the ninja started to attack. "You've seen these guys before?" Rarity asked. Twilight sighed and nodded as she flipped over a ninja, and using that momentum, grabbed his head and slammed it into another's. "Unfortunately, yes," she said. "But now is not the time for stories!" She punched another ninja. She then realized that for every ninja that fell, another quickly took its place. "How did they find us?" As Twilight and the turtles continued to talk about possibilities of how they were found, Fluttershy and Spike managed to sneak away. They did have to fight a bit, but they where able to (finally) get out of the circle. "I have to get my stick and pucks!" Spike exclaimed. "How do we get to the van?" Fluttershy beckoned Spike. "Follow me!" Fluttershy said. But it was too late. By the time they got back to the battle room, no one was there. Fluttershy gasped. "What's going to happen to them?" she asked, despite Spike not actually being able to answere. Spike shrugged. "Who where they?" he asked. "The black ninjas?" "I wasn't told about them," Fluttershy said. "But Twilight seemed to know them, or at least about them." "Oh, would you look at that," Spike said. "They left a note." Fluttershy looked at Spike. "What?" she asked. "Sorry, but that is incredible random!" Spike nodded and pointed at a pice of paper taped to the side of a train. "I know, but they actually left a note right there, almost conveniently," Spike said. "Like in a story that the author didn't otherwise know how to advance the story!" Fluttershy frowned at the last bit, but was amazed that there was a note. As she and Spike walked towards it, she relized (not for the fist time, and for the last time) just how different her life was because of an accident.
