> Whisked Away > by Harbinger Of Mist > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Sanctuary > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The sun beams down and all is well Playing with your ball 'neath a tree to keep cool You're rambunctious and loud as you play the day away The first day of summer after ending pre-school Not a care in the world, you are but a scamp You're nary old enough to think for yourself You have all the fun, and your parents all the work You can trust the grown-ups to keep you in good health The sun reaches apex and the clouds roll in A welcome breeze brushed past where you laid Mother has opened a window or two And leaned out to call you to come back inside Tomato soup with crackers and cheese A small cup of milk to wash it all down First time drinking without a spill No more sippy cups, you're a big kid now You had a nice lunch and are eager to return To continue with your ball. You're back in a flash It slips away and bounces out to the street You chase after and meet with a heart-stopping crash What felt like days of blackness and silence You wake with a bruise and hoof to your head You groan and open your eyes as you greet "Don't worry, little one" a white alicorn said Her face as cloudy as the image above her Broken by only her emerald eyes She was all you could see, all you could hear All you could feel, a gift from the skies "What happened?" ... "Who are you?" "I'm sorry my child, but now is your time" A calming sensation relieves the agony As her serene melodies dance through your mind "We can help..." "You can come with us..." It truly has happened. It's hard to believe You were too young, yet here you are Here she is asking to "deliver or leave" Motionless you lay with no where to go Is this what happens to ponies when they "rest"? "You'll never return" she solemnly assures She'll know what to do. She knows best Trust in the grown-up. Trust in the mare Nothing to be 'fraid of and nothing to lose She had only concern adorned on her mug Awaiting anxiously for you to choose Breath escapes as tears start to well You cannot possibly get through yourself You call with your answer to be taken away By this angel who is only here to help You're lifted and soared up to the sky With nary a hope of what could have been Bidding farewell to the life you once knew If only mommy or daddy had seen Like riding on the clouds you were shrouded 'round by Delivery to your new life was smooth and unchained Silent and alone with nopony watching How fortunate it was scheduled to not shine or rain Relieved and at peace in a trusted grasp You feel your eyes become heavily lidded She aided with her hoof to have you doze off An unwanted surprise. You wish that she didn't An alicorn's touch has graced your mug Not like a monster as one might have feared As soft and as soothing as woven silk You take in her scent as the world disappeared Groggy and foggy, your senses return All that surrounded was blurry and bright No longer just one, now two companions Greet as you wake and recover your sight Set down on all fours, you gaze back up. "Welcome, little one." The new male replied. Dressed all up in white, he extends out his hoof To help you continue to "the new world inside" Giant steel gates have shown up behind him As you see the world around as clear as before Beyond the two ponies, beyond the great gates A world made of fantasies from the days of yore "A place without fear, a world without evil A wonderful sanctuary full of love and bliss No need to worry, no need to flee A world that out on fillies shan't miss" So many promises, so many hopes This new world that greets you sounds too great to be As you work up a smile and greet your new friends One question remains. "What happens to me?" The gates then open and you're guided inside You see all the new toys that are displayed on the shelves Swings and ropes and candy as well The best part is you have it all to yourself Sooner than you could ask "what will we do first?" A tickle fight ensues and you're already losing Your cries go unheeded for them slow down The sounds of their enjoyment was all too amusing Caught in the middle you finally break free A chance to catch your breath as your friends sat there tired Before you could choose a game of your own They continued the fun with what they desired You sat up on a swing and waited for more Your friends grabbed supplies and chortled with glee A paintbrush and tubes, some scissors and paper But you're left bare-hoofed. "What about me?" A fun little twist, you are the canvas They start painting flowers all over your chest Cute little drawings adorned all over you They still were not done, for the last was best You sit and adore your new painted self As your friends put together a fun paper crown You love the design, but they did even more Their giggling never quieted, their smiles never frowned They set it upon you and you feel a great rush A great little tingle surges all through "What did I do to deserve this?" You ask "Nothing," they say. "We just like you" The rush has subsided and you feel all released All the colour disappeared, and so did your friends You see nothing but grey as you look all around Nothing made sense. "This is the end" You're startled by what seemed like a floating black cloak It reveals its own hoof and beckons you near "What happened to me? Where are my friends? Where was the fun place? It was all just here!" Another gate was summoned just behind the dark figure Behind were other fillies all sad and in tears They wanted their mommies and daddies to find them But they could never reach them from here The gate screeched open and you're left with no choice "This is your new life, for you've met your doom" Dread courses through you as you hear that this is "A special place for fillies who pass too soon..." Don't talk to strangers...
