Christmas had passed and New Year’s Day was approaching for the girls. Sunny Flare and Sugarcoat met up with Sour Sweet at her place to chat and watch some leftover Christmas specials that still was airing on TV. Meanwhile, Sour Sweet’s sister was in the kitchen baking her homemade peanut butter cookies. Sugarcoat sniffed the scent coming from the kitchen.

“What’s the nice smell?” Sugarcoat perked up.

“That’s my sister. She’s making cookies for the New Year’s Party that Pinkie and Lemon are helping out with.” Sour Sweet told her.

“Your sister makes cookies?” Sunny asked.

“Yeah. Better than what I can do.” Sour joked.

“They’re only a bit burnt dearie.” Sunny replied.

“I try.”

“Smells nice.” Sugarcoat adjusted her glasses.

“Yeah, they’re really good. Trust me. Makes me jealous sometimes. But that’s ok.” Sour said.

Then, Sweeten Sour came out from the kitchen, “Hey guys! My cookies finished baking!”

“That’s great sis!”

“And yes, you all can try one and see what you think. Especially with your friend, she could make a good critique!” Sweeten added.

Sugarcoat chuckled a bit to the comment, “I don’t know. You’re sister may not be too happy if I say something bad.”

“I was about to say Pinkie Pie might be the better choice.” Sunny mentioned.

“Well anyway, here ya go!” Sweeten handed a cookie to Sour, Sunny and Sugarcoat.

“Thanks.” Sugarcoat took it and looked at it.

“Thanks sis. Always love these.” Sour smiled happily.

“They must be good.” Sunny smiled and took one.

They take a bite of their cookies, nothing but smiles across their faces, even Sugarcoat’s.

“Wow! This is pretty good!” Sunny felt impressed.

“Thanks Sunny!” Sweeten smiled.

“I’m always impressed by what you do sis.” Sour hugged her.

Sugarcoat took another bite, “That’s pretty good.”

“Thanks!” Sweeten replied, “I’m gonna go put them in a container to make sure they are ready for the party.”

“Sounds good. Still up for the mall?” Sunny asked.

“You’re not going to be in that clothes store all day are you?” Sour asked.

“Not at all dearie. Besides it’s past Christmas.” Sunny laughed.

“Yeah! May I come?” Sweeten asked.

“Sure!” Sour replied.

“I don’t see why not. How about you Sugarcoat?” Sunny asked.

“I’ll catch up in a bit...I need to stop by my home.” Sugarcoat replied.

“Alright, see you in a bit?” Sunny asked.

“Yes.” Sugarcoat adjusted her glasses.

“Ok, see ya!” They all went out the door.

The three, later the four spent some time at the mall, checking out many different shops and places to see what’s happening. They even met up with Indigo, Lemon Zest and the CHS girls and had a great bond that afternoon. It definitely was a huge step towards friendship after what happened at the Friendship Games.

Later, the got home to get things prepped for their New Year’s Party. Sugarcoat had returned to her place of residence while Sour, Sunny and Sweeten went back to Sour’s place. Sour and Sunny kicked back on the couch to watch some TV and they heard a yelp from Sweeten.

“Sis, what’s wrong?” Sour called out.

“The cookies! They’re gone!!” Sweeten freaked out.

“WHAT?!?” Sour jumped from off the couch in shock, Sunny put a hand on her shoulder.

“Let’s see what happened.” Sunny went to the kitchen, Sour followed.

“The whole container even, gone!” Sweeten pointed with a few crumbs left on the counter.

“I wonder who did this?” Sunny wondered.

“Yeah...it’s not nice to steal AND BREAK INTO OUR HOUSE!” Sour felt frustrated.

“Calm…” Sunny put a hand on Sour’s shoulder again.

“How do we know? The only people that were here before was Me, Sour, Sunny and Sugarcoat. Unless someone broke in…” Sweeten frowned.

“Well, we’ll get to the bottom of this.” Sunny said.

“I could make new ones but I’m out of the ingredients to make them..” Sweeten explained.

“No worries.” Sunny pat Sweeten’s back.

“Well, I don’t want to put the spotlight on anyone. But maybe it was one of you two?” Sweeten cautiously asked.

“I would never unless given permission dearie.” Sunny replied.

“You know me Sweeten, I wouldn’t do that. I’m not that mean…” Sour crossed her arms, pouting.

“Well, you did say you felt kind of jealous..” Sunny brought up but was suddenly cut off.

“You’re not helping!” Sour snapped.

“Let me finish,” Sunny placed a finger over her mouth, “However, I was with you this whole time. I never saw you try to take them.”

“See? You can check my purse.” Sour boasted.

Sunny did so, which made Sour Sweet shocked, however there were no cookies in there. She even checked her own, nothing.

“You don’t think it was Sugarcoat, was it?” Sweeten asked.

“Well, she’ll try an occasional sweet and treat, but I couldn’t imagine that she took them.” Sunny explained.

Meanwhile, Sugarcoat was walking down the street, about to head into Sour’s home when she saw them in there. Sugarcoat didn’t think they would be home yet. However she took a deep breath and proceeded.

“Who’s knocking?” Sweeten asked.

“It’s ironically Sugarcoat.” Sunny went to open the door.

“Hey.” Sugarcoat walked in.

“What brings you here?” Sunny asked.

“Well…” Sugarcoat frowned.

“Did she really take them?” Sour whispered to herself.

Sugarcoat opened her purse to reveal the container, that still had a lot of cookies in it.

“Sugarcoat! Why??” Sour stood up for her sister.

“Peanut Butter was my favorite kind of cookie…” Sugarcoat frowned a bit.

“Wow. I had no idea they were addicting to you.” Sunny chuckled.

“Well. I only had three of them. I tried to hurry back here before you guys but obviously what I did was wrong. I’m sorry.” Sugarcoat bluntly said.

“It’s alright Sugarcoat. Thanks for being honest.” Sweeten Sour smiled.

“She’s brutally honest!” Sour crossed her arms.

“Sour, I’m sorry. I understand if you’re mad because she’s your sister. For once….I just wasn’t thinking.” Sugarcoat was actually sad at this point, still with the usual deadpan expression

Sour looked up at her. Sour had felt so bad that a tear rolled down her cheek.

“I feel like a bad friend. I know that we haven’t been much of friends until after the Friendship Games.” Sugarcoat looked down.

Sour put a hand on her shoulder, “The way we’ve been acting before. That’s Cinch’s fault.”

Sugarcoat smiled a bit, then she giggled.

“She’s right.” Sunny laughed.

“Sorry for how I reacted. It’s just that-”

Sour was cut off, “You love your sister even though you’re afraid to admit it at times. Plus you love her cookies.” Sugarcoat fastly said.

“Dang girl.” Sweeten gasped, covering her mouth.

“Y...Yep.” Sour nodded.

“Oh Sugarcoat.” Sunny smiled and shook her head.

“What? I’m brutally honest.” Sugarcoat was back to her usual self.

“I’m just surprised you felt so bad that you were almost crying.” Sour admitted.

“Well, I sometimes show actual emotion. Most of the time I keep it on the inside.” Sugarcoat adjusted her glasses.

Sour hugged her, then Sunny, then Sweeten.

Sugarcoat smiled, “If you guys need any help, I’m willing to help.

“Sounds great dearie.” Sunny replied.
