A short story of a beautiful day. Scootaloo is afraid to face a certain fear she has, but can she overcome it?

Scootaloo is having a hard time facing a certain fear of hers and finally decides to confront it.

Super short story by myself. This is a weird one but I wanted to get something out there that shows some of my work.

A Beautiful Day

The early morning sun's rays cast a warm glow over a large field just on the outskirts of Ponyville. Morning dew glistened brightly on nearly every blade of grass, undisturbed as the wind was practically non-existent this early. The silence was blissful, only broken momentarily as a young crimson bird sang it's daybreak song into the air. One pony in particular was letting the wonderful atmosphere sink in, she wasn't normally one to let anything sappy get to her but she felt that today was an exception.

The orange Pegasus trotted calmly through the vast field, stopping only to take in a deep breath to let out a heavy sigh.
"Alright Scootaloo, it's time to stop being afraid to face your fears and be brave!", Scootaloo said puffing out her chest to show she wasn't afraid.
Though deep down she still was a bit nervous, even if she didn't show it on the outside. She proceeded walking until her destination was reached. The sight was too much for her to bear, and she forcefully sat on her haunches and let the tears roll down her muzzle and fall graciously onto the already wet grass.
"I wi- I wish I was as brave as y-you, I wanted to s-show you how much I c-cared about you b-by b-being like you!", she tried her hardest to say as much as her quivering lips would allow.

Scootaloo was no longer alone, for standing just a few feet behind her was a pearl white Unicorn and a golden yellow Earth Pony.

Startling Scootaloo just a bit, the Unicorn spoke in a soft tone, "We all loved her too Scoots, and she would have been proud to see what you've become!". This made the orange Pegasus feel slightly better, not only seeing her two best friends but having the thought that she would have made someone proud was filling her with happiness.

"Ah'm glad ya'll are finally openin' up about this, we were worried 'bout ya!", the Earth Pony said as the two walked over to embrace their orange friend.

"Were you guys following me?", Scootaloo questioned.

"We saw you walking over here and we wanted to make sure you didn't have to go through this by yourself", stated the Unicorn who gave a half-smile.

The Pegasus broke down into tears as she held her friends as close as she could, feeling their warm and welcoming embrace consume her body. She let all of the built up feelings for her loss escape into the open air, she knew this was the right thing to do as no pony should hold in these feelings.
"I d-don't know w-w-what i'd do without you guys! Thank y-you f-for being there f-for me!", she said pulling from the embrace to give them the best smile she could muster.

"We will always be there for you Scoots!", the Unicorn said whom was now also tearing up.

"Awe Sugarcube, don't you worry none. We are friends forever, till the very end!", the Earth Pony smiled back.

"Say Applebloom, since when did you start calling ponies 'Sugarcube'?", at that the three friends giggled as the mood was shifted slightly.

All three friends stood in front of the large marble stone that was perched on a small hill in the middle of a vast field. The marble itself was carved delicately into the shape of a wing. In the center there was a colored engraving of a cloud with a rainbow lightning bolt, the cutie mark of the most loyal pony that there ever was.

"It's okay Scoots, don't be afraid to say goodbye", the Unicorn stated as Scootaloo stared at the grave. It had been three months since she had passed on, and Scootaloo could never accept that. But now, with her friends backing her up and giving her support, she knew more than ever that it was the right thing to do.

"Goodbye Rainbow Dash, I love you...", was all the Pegasus could speak as she took to the skies waving to her friends to say goodbye. She landed on a cloud that was perched just above the stone, and sighed as she looked towards the horizon where she spotted something that made one more tear fall down her muzzle. There between two mountains was the most vibrant rainbow Scootaloo had ever seen. She knew only one Pegasus that could make a rainbow that... that... she smiled and softly said, "That cool...". With that she turned around and trotted into her house, the one that her sister had given to her.

She had never set hoof in the house since Rainbow's passing, because she never wanted to see the grave outside. As she reached the door, there was a note hanging on the outside.

Dear Squirt, I know you really don't like things being all sappy but you're gonna have to deal with it for a minute. First of all, never ever give up on your dreams. Second, I know you'll do great at the Wonderbolt academy, in fact I don't see a way you could possibly not be accepted on your first day! All in all, don't stop being you because for me, the best part of waking up every day was having some pony who looked up to me and I couldn't have asked for it to be anyone other than my awesome little sister.

Love, Rainbow Dash

Scootaloo nearly burst into tears again, but let out a deep sigh and walked into the house with a big smile on her face. She was finally at peace, the build up of emotion was lifted from her shoulders. In her mind she knew that this was turning out to be a beautiful day.
